my freakcrow design rant (very self-indulgent. i love explaining my character designs)

i really like when the crow flies because of how they nailed his aura. just a fucking pair of bright blue orbs under his hat and the semblance of a mouth. anwyays guess what comic was the inspiration for my scarecrow design

it was actually a mix up between tim sale’s scarecrow and when the crow flies, the witche’s hat, finglerless gloves (although on my scarecrow it doesnt show his actual fingers. would be pretty shitty when you’re working with chemicals all the time, so its just a lighter colored fabric) and the rider’s boots.

but umm i also just added in a bunch of stuff like the green-ish webs and spiders because its halloween looking, i added the skulls as a nod to knightfall where he uses a skull that shoots out fear toxin, i imagine it would work the same here.

i also gave him a few belts rather than his suit being tied off by only rope like in many comics such as when the crow flies or that one comic where scarecrow was killing his childhood bullies. forgot the name, its been a bit. i think that was inspired by the arkhamverse scarecrow designs i honestly couldnt tell you where the red cape-ish thing came from. i think it was from an earlier design/concept because i didnt like drawing his shoulders and i just never got rid of it? the stick in the back too, im pretty sure. im not sure why thats there aside from the scarecrow theming.

anyways ill probably redo the reference sheet soon or do more concepts and all since its been a while and ive learned a lot

What horrible nicknames would your Jonathan been called as a child? BONUS: Are they called anything cruel as an adult?

Oh as a child definitely scarecrow, which is partially why he thought of basing his gimmick on a scarecrow. He was called that due to being tall and lanky. He was also probably called something along the lines of Ichabod (Legend of Sleepy Hollow) due to their shared last name and similar appearance, (plus it was one of his inspirations as a character) and some others that don’t really have much meaning aside from making fun of his appearance like string-bean, stick, n’ stuff. And he absolutely is still called cruel things as an adult, although not very often to his face. Sometimes by other rogues. Mostly Joker, although he uses affectionate terms to make him angry. (“Scary”, “Jonny”, Etc. and classics like sweetie or honey or shit like that) 😋 Hope this answer is satisfactory!

it’s mostly for fun but also out of curiosity as to the crow’s reaction, would it become violent and scared or just accept it? although his research is fun for him so really anything he does out of curiosity is also for fun.

Animal and color most associated with your version of Scarecrow??

I’d say I associate him with crows (for obvious reasons) and for much different reasons I also associate him with bugs in general, one of those reasons is bugs being one of the most common fears people have. As for colors I tend to associate him with very bright orange and lime green, as they’re Halloween colors and all!! 😋

scarecrow hates them so much because they have a weird thing about following him aorund just to watch him. they do this with some of the other villains too arthur the robot clown is not in the frightverse i just made them for fun tbh

theyre not allowed out in arkham. cell all day (they dont need to eat or drink they’re fine) 💔💔 they ate through their strait jacket once

hi this is more of an update for my followers than anything. i probably wont be posting art for a fair amount of time because i have like everything block. if anyone was wondering why i stopped posting scarecrow stuff i sort of just pushed away from him as a character and batman in general because of the shit about ssktjl going on in tiktok. it made me genuinely turn to flash more because yk… people weren’t bitching about him 😭😭 i’ll be back on the batman grind sometime i honestly just need a break. 😞 but if any of you want i will be open to answering any questions about my dc universe (frightverse) whether it be about my batman stuff or flash stuff 😊 thank you all for the support though, it genuinely means so much to me! i am always open to answering questions or talking about my interests
