Maybe a hot take: I dislike more the episode ¨Masters of All Time¨ than i do ¨Frightmare¨ and ¨Claw of the Wild¨.

With ¨Frightmare¨ and ¨Claw of the Wild¨ i feel i can have some fun with them because they are standard ¨Danny fights ghost of the week¨ episodes. They are weaker than your usual since the main focus is doing Danny and Sam shipping. It lacks the characterization other episodes usually have. Despite of this, i can still enjoy them for concept ( Frightmare) or a character returning (Wolf)

In contrast, ¨Masters of All Time¨ is an episode full of frustrating plotholes followed by more plotholes. The whole episode is a mess that stops me for  enjoying it. The alternative timeline doesn’t add much to the characters or the story nor it does have important consequences. It’s never explained what caused the ecto-acne to appear again, it just happens. Plus, characters being dumbed down (which plenty of people have pointed this out). Plus the lesson is something that Danny has learned before ( Maternal Instincts; A Million Dolar Ghosts) and it could have been executed in other ways that made more sense.

I use Fright instead of Fraid, personally. I also feel like Spook is more of what you'd call a single ghost & it also sounds a bit like a racial slur by the way that Jack uses it.

This is what I've got in terms of ghost names.

Y’all I need an opinion on this to make sure it makes sense because either I’m right or I made this really complicated for no reason.

A group of ghosts is actually called a fraid but I have not seen a single goddamn person use that term and it feels awkward so we’re going with spook. Does anyone use another word other than spook? I feel like I’ve seen other versions but I can’t remember them.

Yo, I've been thinking about Danny's grades. Because, like, most of the DP fandom writes ff with Danny being one bad grade from flunking out 'cause he can't fight ghosts and keep up with the school work.

But, like, is that really accurate tho? (And let me make it clear that I've only watched DP once and that was in Feb, so I could have some information missing here)

Cuz on the very first ep Lancer tells Danny he has basically nothing bad on his record (whereas Tucker had some transgressions).

And I can only remember Danny's grades being mentioned 5 times in the entire show (on One Of A Kind, Teacher Of The Year, What You Want (?), TUE, and, obviously, Mystery Meat — there is Vlad's mentions of Danny's grades and Danny's dream in Frightmare, but I'm not considering those).

On One of a Kind, he gets a D in his biology — which, from the way he said it, it sounded like he never got a grade that low — but he managed to raise his grade.

On Teacher of the Year, he fails his English (?) exam — not because he was occupied with a ghost, but because he was obsessed with playing Doom (let's also remember that, on One of a Kind, Tucker literally says Danny's problem was time management) — but then he was able to retake the test and got a 91%.

On What You Want, he mentions he's a C student.

And, well, everyone knows what happened in TUE: Danny says he isn't prepared for the CAT 'cuz he didn't get to study throughout the year because of ghost fighting (which IG is where the whole fanfic thing comes from).

But, like, was Danny actually not able to study because of ghosts? Because I can't actually think of a time where he was actually stopped from getting his homework done by a ghost fight.

But you know what does come up in my mind when I think of all of that? "Poor time management skills"... Oh, wait, that's already Canon!

Before I get into the time management skills, lemme bring up again Vlad's comments, Danny's A grade on his dream on Frightmare, and Danny's comment on What You Want (as well as what he said in TUE).

Guys, the educational system sucks. In 2004 it was worse. Teachers also suck in that respect (do I need to explain that I don't hate all teachers, only the sucky ones?).

There are teachers who humiliate you in front of the class for having a question they believe you shouldn't have, I'm pretty sure everyone has been in that situation or knows someone who has. Some teachers shame you every time you get a bad grade instead of offering solutions — that affects people, it doesn't even have to be that explicit.

I spent 'till my senior year of highschool thinking I was a terrible student (because teachers told me I was every time I got a bad grade). That only changed when I was calculating my GPA to see which colleges I had a shot at: my GPA was 3.6/4

Now, take Mr Daniel Fenton. Youngest son of a family of geniuses. His older sister got the highest ever CAT grade and writes Theses for funsies. His parents not only where accepted to appear on genius magazine (Jazz may have done the application for Maddie, but she wouldn't lie on it knowing that they would do at least some fact chacking — meaning that she probably picked accomplishments of Maddie's and used only the ones she approved of, meaning that they had accomplishments other than the ghost related ones) but they also built a freaking portal to another dimension.

Not to mention that Tucker is a top notch hacker and doesn't get good grades because he doesn't want to (which doesn't matter because he changes them anyway) and that Sam never shows any concern towards her grades and, being from a rich family, she probably has to get good grades.

Take Danny, who wants to be an astronaut — the literal hardest job to get on the face of the Earth, which also requires a degree in the STEM area (which Danny is admittedly not the best at). Now put him in a place where his grades dropped a little — Maddie, his mother, literally told him he had to get good grades because "Fentons get As" or whatever.

Is it that hard to think that a lot of Danny saying his grades are so terrible and he's not prepared for the tests is because that's just how low he thinks of himself academically?

Lemme get back to the time management skills.

So I've already established that the educational system sucks and it wasn't any better in 2004.

It was even worse at recognizing and dealing with neurodivergent kids.

And I'm pretty sure that, like, 70% of the fandom sees Danny as Neurodivergent-coded — autism, ADHD, anxiety, depression, etc.

The thing with being neurodivergent is that sometimes ND people suck at some executive functions/have executive dysfunctions.

Do you know what is an executive function? Time management skills.

When it comes to studying, I personally have a lot of trouble with distractions and getting myself to start the assignment. That problem is usually solved if I have someone to do it with me — and by that I mean that the person usually just sits nearby and sometimes helps me with processing an information, which tends to consist in just me talking.

Which is basically what Lancer did with Danny in Teacher of the Year. Which,,, Lancer, my beloved, yes! When he found the problem, he tried to find a solution and his frickin solution worked!

Anyway, this is all I wanted to say: the educational system sucks, Danny has a warped view of himself, Danny is neurodivergent, and Lancer should've been portrayed as an awesome teacher since the start because he was awesome.

Kingdom Come (Road to Normal 12)

The attack came out of nowhere.

… Well - it wasn’t really an attack.

It started with a training session in the lab, Danny zipping about in the lab trying to avoid being hit by his parents. Dodging a well timed flurry he had yelled “I’m the king of dodging attacks!”

That was his downfall.

When the Ecto-Exodus alarm went off, they stood awaiting the mass ghost attack. The first ghost arrived, a small penguin with wide eyes. It smiled broadly. “My king!”

Danny fell out of the air, Jack dropped his weapon and Maddie’s mouth hung open.

“Your what?!”

The penguin bowed deeply. “It is so good to meet you!” it continued, more small ghosts coming through the portal and bowing at the teenager. Danny scrambled upright, looking quite unnerved at the ghosts.

“Uh, I hate to break it to you,” Danny said, scratching the back of his head. “But I think you have the wrong ghost.”

The small ghost shook its head. “You claimed your title,” it said brightly. “You said you were.”

“It got you there son,” Jack laughed. Danny shot him a dark look. “You did say you were a king of dodging attacks.”

Danny groaned. “I’m not the king!”

Maddie frowned, watching Danny carefully as her mind whirled in thought. “But you might be,” she whispered in disbelief.

Danny stilled. “What!?”

Maddie looked into her son’s wide eyes. “You beat the ghost king.”

Jack blinked, turning back to his wife. “You… did,” he confirmed. “You locked him away in the coffin.”

Danny paled, looking panicked. “Yeah but that doesn’t mean I’m the king!”

“The king!” the crowd of ghosts chanted proudly.

“Will you stop that?!” The half-ghost yelled. “I keep telling you, I’m not the king. I can’t be.”

There were murmurs in the crowd. “Didn’t you save the Christmas Truce last year?” a high pitched voice asked.

“After I caused it? Yeah I guess,” Danny replied flatly, looking over to his parents with a frown.

“And stopped Vortex? Undergrowth?” another called out.

“Well… yeah… but that doesn’t make me the king!”

“The king!”

Maddie’s eyes were wide. “Danny… how well do you know ghost politics?” she asked breathlessly.

“Mom! I’m not the King of Ghosts! I have no crown! No ring! Don’t you think someone would tell me if I was?” Danny buried his head in his hands. “This day cannot get any worse.”

“Great One?” Frostbite called, flying into the lab with a frown. The teen groaned as the small crowd of ghosts cheered at Frostbite’s arrival. “Are you alright?”

Danny groaned again. “Can you tell these guys I’m not the King?”

“The King!”

Frostbite observed the scene, from the eccentric smaller ghosts to the pale parents to the very uncomfortable teenager in front of him. “The King?” he asked apprehensively.

“The King!”

“I’m not!” Danny whined. “I keep telling you!”

Frostbite chuckled nervously. “Of course not!” he boomed, avoiding eye contact. “You’d need the crown!” He addressed the crowd below. “The Great One has much to attend to young ones, please leave him be until we coronate the next King.”

As the ghosts left grumbling, Danny sighed in relief. “Thanks Frostbite - dodged a bullet there.” He laughed uneasily. “Imagine me as a king. Just ‘cause I beat the Ghost King!”

Frostbite stiffened, not going unnoticed by the two parents. They shared an uneasy glance with the large ghost.

“I mean, the Ghost King would have a lot of power right? I doubt I’d have enough to qualify! Besides I’m still young, I gotta graduate high school! Ghost King? Pfft!”

Frostbite shook his head. “Perhaps let’s get on with your lesson,” he said, changing the topic. “Even if you did assume the throne, you’d still have to go through training before you were crowned.”

Danny stopped his rant. “But I’m not the King,” he stated.

“No,” Frostbite agreed. “You are not.”

“But you could be,” Jack said with a large smile. His eyes gleamed at the thought. Maddie slapped her face in embarrassment. “Couldn’t he Frostbite?”

“Dad, don’t even - I’m not - I don’t want-” He sputtered, breathing shallowly with wide green eyes. “Can we just… I don’t know… talk about anything else.”

“Whatever you say, your majesty.”

“Dad!”

They didn’t talk about this day for different reasons. Danny feared power and responsibility so he ignored it. Maddie and Jack for fear it was true and what that would mean for their son’s life.

Frostbite never spoke of it for fear of Clockwork’s wrath.

Pitch Pearl  ATUS AU- Part 1

so this rather than just like a general world and stuff is actually an outlining thingie *insert happy face here* this is vey much on the angstier side because i made this in frightmares and thats like, a most be ansgty or perish

so we start of in the quaint little town of Amity years in after the Fentons have created a sucessful ghost portal. danny does not die and become a halfa at this point in time, still an innocent little human freshman going about his life. the ghosts treat the town like a playground and the humans like their playthings, nothing more than entertaining little mice scurrying around and begging for their short mousy lives to be spared as the town crumbles to borderline ruins under the destruction of the ghosts. 

phantom is currently king of the ghosts. he sits by idlely and lets his subjects act as they see fit with the humans, montitoring the situation to see if anything catches his interest. and what does you ask? the outspoken fenton family attempting to fight back as well as they can. mainly the youngest fenton, whose age is quite similar to his time becoming sentient. the fenton family has already betrayed the town once. how would people react if it happened a second time?

phantom orders the ghosts to kidnap danny and he places him at his right hand. danny quickly learns obedience is better than fighting in this situation. he is shown off like a throphy pet and doted on like, forced to pretend to enjoy this if he wants to keep his family safe and unaware of what is going down. how would they react watching their own child mingle around with their tormentors? danny tries to protect them as much as possible and while the reluctant obedience was entertaining for a while, phantom wants more than that. if danny’s loyalties lie with his town, then destroying the town will remove any obstacles. its would never be a bother to retrain his pet anyways, not if it means that there will be no room for rejection.

danny learns of this plan and immediately tries to stop him. any pleading has the opposite effect. the only way to save the town is to cut off any and all means of crossing over. 

danny was given a circlet when he was first kidnapped and presented to phantom. it was a binding and also a way to help him survive more easily in the ghost zone. when wearing it, phantom was able to sense him as if he was part of the realm itself. the important this to note that it gave him basic ghost powers that though not strong enough to combat his captors, after a lot of secret practice allowed him good control over his powers. 

he pretends to sulk and refuse to leave his room for days on end, lowering phantom’s guard that he is actually going to do anything. phantom doesn’t pay too much attention to his behavior, discussing world domination with his generals and what extent do they plan to wreck havoc on the human realm. while phantom is at a meeting, danny takes his chance to escape and flees to the portal as quickly as he can. right as he jumps through he hears shouting and the enraged yell of phantom before he uses his power to shut down the portal.

he’s free. finally home. they can’t come through anymore. (tust me when i say they actually cannot. natural portals aren’t a thing quite yet.)

everything slowly goes back to normal over the next few years. danny is now a senior and nobody really knows the truth behind his kidnapping. he has friends, sam and tucker, and while focusing on school work is hard for him and he may have missed a few months readjusting, he isn’t failing. he thinks it’s over now. he is safe, right? that was the only portal. there are no more rifts.

except there is now. 

vlad is still a half ghost and he is looking to find a new source of energy after the old portal shut down. he isn’t foolish enough to create a giant portal like the fentons. a small open, barely big enough for a young child to squeeze through should be fine. and it not like he can’t handle any pest that slips through anyways. this should be fine.

danny sometimes feels like he is being watched when he is alone, but he chalks it down to paranoia.

danny starts getting nightmares about phantom again, but tries to tell himself thats nothing to worry about. nightmares are normal, even if the last nightmare he got was in early junior year.

danny starts getting random chills, ignores it and puts on a warmer jacket or hoodie.

then one day as he is getting out of the shower, notices a DP drawn into the steamed mirror.

Thinking about that rather of making a separate episode to make Danny and Vlad work together in Season 3 (Torrent of Terror), they could have... used Urban Jungle or Frightmare plot for that instead?

Honestly the plot of a huge eldritch horror ghost taking over Amity and Danny and Vlad having to join forces because everyone else is hypnotized/controlled is a lot more interesting that whatever was going on in Torrent of Terror plot.

The issue with "The Ultimate enemy" is not the episode itself, is the lack of continuation.

I can't really blame the writers too much for this. As far as i know, in a very old interview from a fan website one of the writers stated that Nickelodeon asked them to write episodes without clear direction. They wrote them without knowing if they could make more or not. (If this is not true, please explain in the comments)

It's crazy how much happens in that episode. The death, the future, Dan phantom, there are way too many things.

They could have used Frightmare to write an episode about Danny having nightmares of Dan and the villain feeding of Danny's dreams.

DP HC - Frightmares & Whelplings

Dude, a group of ghosts is called a Fright. I know I heard that somewhere before, but I can't remember where.

Also members of said group are called frightmates.

I feel like Frights work similarly to packs in that it includes the Alpha male & Alpha female, their family, the Alphas' inner circle & their families, with maybe a few other members.

An Alpha can also be Alpha over multiple Frights, but it's similar to how there are mayors, governors, dukes, kings, & whatnot. It's a social structure with a clear hierarchy, but the Alpha will always protect his or her immediate Fright first & foremost because they are the ones that he or she claims as belonging to them.

The Alpha male & female can either be together or they could not be, but usually, they're together.

Ghosts are innately possessive & tend to claim those they care about on a specific level. For more about this, go here:

It's also possible for ghosts to not have a Fright when they are particularly unsociable & ornery. As is the case in the previously no-man's land where Amity Park dwells, where outcasts, headhunters, bountyhunters, & ghostly outlaws tend to gather.

It's much like being a lone wolf, only much more common.

A majority of the DP rogues gallery are examples of which.

It isn't uncommon for outcasts to form small, self-contained mini-frights amongst themselves for the sake of survival, but unless a real bond & teamwork is formed, these tiny frights tend to fall apart.

Johnny, Kitty, & Shadow, as well as Box Ghost, Lunch Lady, &, eventually, Box Lunch, then Ember & her band, are all considered successful formings of Outcast Frights. Meanwhile, Spectra & her little toady are relatively new & will inevitably end as a failure.

With the help of @kaezer we have the words for the various stages of afterlife & 'sexes' of ghosts.

Whisp = Fetus or infant. (Usually used for the reproduced babies of ghosts & those who died before age 2; a lot are abortion victims & stillborns who'd had a strong enough will to survive, but not a strong enough body.)

Whelp = Kid; male or female.

Ghoul = Female kid; girl.

Gaunt = Male kid; boy.

Phasma = Young woman.

Ghast = Young man.

Shriek = Old woman.

Geist = Old man.

It's actually uncommon for ghosts of the dead to reproduce as, being made up of a soul encased by a hard ectoplasmic shell with an ectoplasmic body, the only way they can do so is with their soulmate. That means that alot of ghosts just don't reproduce as it's very rare to meet your soulmate to begin with. Even then, it isn't the same as organic reproduction.

Instead, they merge their Core energy to create an 'egg' of sorts. This 'egg' develops over time via its parents feeding more of their Core energy to it.

It's not uncommon for one of the parents to swallow the egg in order to protect the Whisp with their body until it's time for it to emerge. This also gives the egg automatic access to their Core energy, so only the other parent has to provide more. Once it's time for the Whisp to form, the parent simply phases it out of their body. These are called Neverborn Whisps.

However, because you can only have, at most, 2 soulmates (which, itself is a 1 in a million chance), & the Infinite Realms are literally infinite, ghosts will often find the coalescing aura of a dead child or infant as they begin to manifest a Core, then provide them with their own Core plasm in order to speed up the process.

By doing so, the ghost adopts the newly formed Whisp. This also has the benefit of the Whisp gaining some traits from the adopting ghost.

Because children are so rare, Whisps, both Neverborn & adopted, are the single most protected residents of the IR with newly-formed ghosts of those who died a bit older being the second most protected.

It is much like how in prison, the quickest way to get your ass shivved is by being a child abuser or pedophile. That paints an immediate target on your back. Even more so in the IR.

That isn't to say that there aren't some ghosts who are just that disgusting. Just that they are even more secretive about it as ghosts.
