                         hiding behind a bush was a STUPID IDEA --- but she didn’t realize that. delilah’s breathing was heavy. her heart beat quickly. her mind, racing. she swallowed hard, gulping for air. he was going to get her. she’d be dead. she’d be gone. no one would find her, no one would remember her. THAT is what scared her more than a clown. but that couldn’t be physically manifested. so the physical manifestation was a CLOWN -- something she feared since the time her nana took her to the circus. “hiya little girly, wanna balloon?” one small sentence, and seven year old delilah SCREAMED. and it seemed as if it was now going to happen all over again.

      he’s not sure what unsettles him more --- - the clown or the fact that he was now going on ten minutes late getting home. the former seems more likely, and the boy tightens his grasp on his backpack. hazel eyes dart beyond the mysterious figure, his path laid out clear as the sun in the sky, and he clears his throat.

      ‘ uh.. ’ he starts. ‘ i don’t... don’t wanna be rude but could i get by? i gotta get home before my stepdad does, and i’d really appreciate it. ’

                             BREAKING NEWS: MELANIE JONES IS a terrible mother. ( more at eleven. ) despite promising coraline she’d be at the baseball field at seven sharp to collect coraline before curfew, it’s getting on for eight. and coraline is getting nervous. she sees no sense in hanging around — her mom forgot, as she ALWAYS does, and that’s that. deflated and frustrated, coraline hitches her gym bag onto her shoulder, and heads for home. 

one block, maybe two — coraline only gets so far before she veers off the sidewalk, and out of the way of the houses that are spotted only sparsely this far out of town. if only for the darkening sky — or for the sprawling feeling of placelessness that subsists in the negative space out here — coraline is struck by unease, low and dark between her lungs. her eyes continually sweep over the dusty road; every note of ‘i ran’ she whistles FADES into the breeze. it makes precisely no sense, but... coraline feels as if she’s being WATCHED.

          —— what a  pretty penny 𝓥 has to pay ! with a tongue always loaded & with lips that bore no controlling-dominance, not a single daring flick of her ❛  rambunctious tongue ❜  would go without bearing a cost. launching words that were all but that of appeal to the grand audience of: one—( clown ) !  perhaps exuding such confidence within the presence of something beyond comprehension was out of league to begin with ? (she notes this humbly, to remember for her next run-in with another inter-dimensional being. )         ah yes ! back to it !    ;   rips, tears & spills oh-my filled the dampened atmosphere, bouncing off of stained brick tunnels to beckon a horrendous echo in turn. what probably sounded like a symphony to the audience, was a shock to the senses for the latter. — peeling back peachy skin with blood stained cloth, blood stained claws, seemed all too familiar for the inter-dimensional being above her. eventful ! even with the oozing ❛  blood ❜  &searing pain, her kittenish struggle was abandoned quickly.         animalistic, cannibalistic actions elicited easy shrieks from the significantly smaller figure, flaunting not-so-proudly the pain. fear wasn’t all too prevalent; it leaned on the spectrum of vague. ❝   h-hope you don’t plan on eating what you’re taking; ❞ she croaked through blurred vision, accompanied by a light grip of her hand,❝   I’ve h-heard it’s got b-bad side effects.❞  Perhaps yellow glowing spheres didn’t stumble across the oddities at her joints ? Heat of the moment ?

  BREATHS CAME FAST  as georgie hyperventilated -   a nasty habit after all of these tough,  slow going MONTHS.  it was as if he could not drink enough air,  as if he was having trouble reminding himself just WHAT  was real.   hands clutch his brother’s shirt:  he’s holding on to bill desperately,  as if his brother were the only thing tethering to this  earth,   as if he might  FLOAT AWAY  if he weren’t here to calm him. 

 ( it’d been a terrible dream –   his worst dream yet.   pennywise  grabbing his  hand.  pennywise was going to kill him -  he was inches away,  georgie could still imagine the eyes,  the teeth,  could still see the  SALIVA  of a monster  STARVING —   it’d been so real,  he had been there !  georgie had  SCREAMED  in the dream,  begged him to go,  to not touch him,   to leave him alone —–  ) 

and apparently,  those screams had manifested in reality,  as well.  georgie could see the  FEAR  in bill’s eyes: when would this beast leave them alone?  was the deed not already  done?  was georgie not already without an arm,  without a proper childhood?   he curled up into his brother,   as if trying to make himself  SO SMALL  he’d disappear.   he wept profusely,  softly  -  he was so tired of crying.  “it was so real,  bill.”  he whispered wetly; it was always real enough for georgie.   always.   “i- it seemed so real … he was here,  a-and i —”
