If you leap awake in the mirror of a bad dream and for a fraction of a second you can't remember where you are : just open your window and follow your memory upstream to the meadow in the mountain where we counted every falling star. I believe the light that shines on you will shine on you forever. And though I can't guarantee there's nothing scary hiding under your bed, I'm gonna stand guard like a postcard of a Golden Retriever and never leave 'til I leave you with a sweet dream in your head

Ch 38 - The Lannister Heirs
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Part 39
Fire OF A Stark
@dragonixfrye
Jaime and I had been living at the rock for awhile now. Strolling the hallways of the vast castle I was on my own for entertainment since he was now in charge of the Lannister army. They were needing to get a new sense of the new lord of the Rock. There was a thought that wouldn't stop crossing my mind and it was Sansa. She was forced to remain in King's Landing. I desperately wanted her here by my side and away from Cersei and Joffrey. Footsteps came down the hallway where someone put their hand over my eyes. "Jaime, what are you doing?" Seeing it was the golden hand I gently pushed it down turning to face him.
"Looking for my dragon wife. My war meeting ended early at my request. Since I would rather be spending time with you." He explained wrapping his arms around my tugging me into his warm embrace.
He was wearing a golden tunic and trousers that almost matched what he wore the day he fought my father Ned in the streets of the city. He had even left his hair to grow out a little longer after I had told him I preferred it a little longer. "Well I am glad because I am not permitted by the Maester to do anything really. It gets rather boring just roaming the hallways all day."
"I aim to change that, Lynesse. Come with me." He offers his hand, staring down at my choices of clothing. I hadn’t worn many of the Lannister dresses unless we were meeting with the members of his household. Otherwise he would find me wearing his tunics and other things. Even with my growing belly I still managed to have my sword with me.
He tugged me by the arm leading me down a section of stairs I wasn't familiar with. We had to go up quite a few more large staircases before we came to a stop outside a large red door. He pushed it open revealing a large tower room with multiple open windows to gaze out from. Walking forward I could recall the rumors that they said about the Rock. One late Lannister that had died years before our time had said that on a good day you could see all the way across and see nothing but clear waters before you. "So the tales were true about this tower. It's beautiful, like our own little island away from the rest of the Seven kingdoms."
"I thought you would like it. I have also been talking with the castle builders to see if we can make a platform for Joanna since she can't very well fit in the walls." He responded back wrapping his arms around my waist from behind.
Turning around in his arms I leaned up on my toes kissing him softly. "I always thought I would dislike my new home that I would be forced into. Yet I was wrong I love it here with you."
"There's nowhere else I would have rather heard you say that, Lynesse. You will always be my Lady Lannister regardless of you being a dragon-wolf." Jaime leaned down, capturing my lips with his, making me grin.
A few months after Battle of White Walkers
"Seven hells…Jaime!" I screamed clutching the bedsheets in my fingers making my knuckles turn white almost. He was standing beside me with my handmaiden on the other side. I bared my teeth down pushing longer than I cared for. We were finally having our second child after the battle at Winterfell.
My white hair was sticking to my forehead where I threw my head back crying. My sister Sansa was now to be declared Queen in the North and she was talking with me about what should be done. Rhaenyra was tended to by another lady in waiting and Maxon since we both trusted they would look out for her. Blinking through tears of my own I could still make out that Jaime was terrified for me because he was crying himself. "Lynesse, you…you can do this…"
"Oh geez…argh!" I cried hearing the midwife instructing me.
"Just a few more big pushes, Lady Lannister."
Clutching my hands into fists as tightly as possible I closed my eyes shut. Pushing as much as I could two or three times we finally heard a baby cry. The midwife caught the baby while I collapsed back onto the pillows. "You did good, Lynesse." The handmaiden Bridget wiped away sweat from my forehead with a cloth.
Jaime had convinced me to take on a lady to help me since he was rather busy when we returned from Winterfell. She became a very close friend when I learned that we were to have our second child. "My lord. My lady, congratulations it is a boy. You have an heir." The older woman declared wrapping the little babe in a red and golden blanket.
"Oh sweet boy.." I whispered when she placed the babe in my lap once I had shifted into a sitting upright position in the bed.
Jaime sat on the edge of the bed pushing hair behind my face, dropping his gaze downward onto his firstborn son. I didn't have a preference of what our next child would be. Jaime and I had agreed that no matter what Rhaenyra would be heir to Casterly Rock. "I have a son…I have a son." He muttered repeatedly for a few seconds. He could never claim that Joffrey, Tommen and Myrcella were his. He told me that Cersei had claimed them as only hers alone.
"Have you chosen a name, Lady Lynesse?" Bridget was standing beside the window watching us while the other attendees were fixing the room trying to make it more presentable.
Turning my head in the direction of my husband we locked eyes letting silence fill the room. His blonde hair had grown longer but he didn't have it as long as when we first met in Winterfell. He placed his left hand on mine, staring closely at the baby. "You choose, little dragon."
"I think he should be…Eddard Lannister." The baby boy had bright blonde hair like his father but he has my eye color. The baby lifted his hands so I gave him my finger where he attempted to grip it as tightly as he could making me grin brightly.
The chamber door opened with the handmaiden carrying Rhaenyra in her arms and a sealed letter appeared also. She curtsied to the two of us handing the scroll over to my husband. "My lord my lady, a raven from King's Landing. It appears to be from Jon Snow."
"I'll take the lioness from you Chloe." Bridget walked over, sending the other girl off.
Jaime tears open the letter unfolding the piece of paper. "Dear sister, I am writing to inform you and your lord husband that we have defeated Cersei. But we also had to remove Daenerys from power, she has burned the city just like her father. I am here to say I won't be placing myself on the Iron Throne. It is yours if you wish. I am just informing you that there is a small council meeting in a few days with the remaining lords and ladies of Westeros."
"Jaime I…I'm sorry." I attempted to say knowing that it would be hard for him to accept that his twin sister was dead. She was his first love and meant everything to him.
He crumpled the letter in his left hand a little, dropping it on the ground. His green eyes were welling with heavy tears. I had never seen him cry except for the night we reunited after the battle against the army of the dead. "Bridget, could you watch the children for a while…" He muttered under his breath.
"Of course, my lord." She bowed her head picking up Eddard and carrying him in one arm and Rhaenyra in the other.
Shifting in the bed I reached forward grabbing his hand making him meet my gaze. "Jaime…" I was only able to say his name before he climbed in the bed beside me. He laid his head in my lap crying heavily.
"She…she’s gone. I…I'm sorry I shouldn't be crying to you…" He started to apologize until I tilted his chin up so he would look me in the eye.
“Jaime, you don’t have to apologize for crying over her. She was your sister and your twin. I don’t expect you to act tough about this. Just cry if you need to. You don’t have to be a strong soldier all the time, not around me.” I declare wiping away the tears that were falling down his face. Running one hand through his hair he buried his face into my chest.
He sniffed and gripped onto my tunic shirt just crying for a few hours. I may not like Cersei but she was his sister after all. It would be like when I learned that Robb, Rickon and my adopted parents were dead. “Thank you…Lynesse.”
It took us a few hours to get ready and the trip back to King's Landing was very long. Jaime was wearing his tan leather tunics and trousers with his sword clipped to his side. I had my white hair completely loose wearing a red dress and some black combat riding boots. I also had attached my sword back to my belt carrying Eddard in my arms. Jaime did his best to carry Rhaenyra until we entered the castle being greeted by Tyrion. “Jaime. Lynesse, I hope the trip wasn’t too bad. Oh and I see we finally have a boy dragon infant.”
“Yes. My brother in law Tyrion, I'd like you to meet your nephew Eddard Lannister.” I held the infant boy up with a bright smile before I noticed one of Danny’s men walking up and placing a hand on his shoulder. “Why is he here?”
The soldier responded sternly, leading us into a small set of chairs outside of the castle. “He is our prisoner after he told Jon Snow to excite our queen. Follow me now.” Everyone was sitting around in a circle where I saw that they had two open chairs that were meant for Jaime and I.
“Jon committed his crime here. His fate is for our king to decide. Or our queen.” Tyrion glanced around at all of us with me and Jaime each holding a baby in our laps.
A random lord I didn’t remember responded back. “We don't have a king or queen.”
“You're the most powerful people in Westeros. Choose one.” Tyrion points out meeting my gaze softly as if he was trying to tell me to step up.
“My lords and ladies... I suppose this is the most important moment of our lives. What we decide today will reverberate through the annals of history. I stand before you as one of the senior lords in the country. A veteran of two wars. And I like to think my experience has led to some small skill in statecraft and underst--“
Sansa cut her uncle off, clearly not agreeing that it should be him. “Uncle? Please sit.”
“Well, we have to choose someone.” An older lord declares where I leaned back in my chair. I had no real intention of putting the idea of me on the throne out there. I may have dragon blood but I wasn’t raised to be a queen.
Baby Eddard started fussing where Jaime let him suck on his thumb making me smile before I noticed Arya reach into her pocket drawing the crown of Rhaenyra that I had accidentally forgotten back in Winterfell. “Cadence - uh sorry Lynesse. You left this back home.”
“Thank you, sis.” I take it from her hand’s holding it with my freehand.
Sansa suddenly spoke up, making me whip my head around in shock at her. “Lynesse, you should wear the crown. You are after all the last living Targaryen and raised as an honorable Stark child.”
“Sansa I…” I couldn’t finish my thoughts, unsure of what to say.
Tyrion and Jaime both declared together making me get a little embarrassed. I valued their opinions but it wasn’t theirs that scared me the most. “Lynesse Targaryen-Lannister for queen.”
Whipping my head to the youngest Stark girl she got to her feet standing before me and her brother Bran sitting in his wheelchair since Jaime was on my right side. “Lynesse, I say aye.”
“Will you wear the crown, Lynesse. If we were to choose you…or even if we choose someone else, would you stand by their side and sit on your rightful place on the Iron Throne?” Tyrion slowly walked up to me making his handcuffs squeak. His green eyes shifting from his brother and over our two children.
Comments really appreciated ❤️ Hopefully I can write two more chapters like I hope before I complete this story

Ch 40 - The Targaryen Queen
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Part 41
Fire OF A Stark
@dragonixfrye
A Few Years Later
The Iron Throne had been destroyed. The throne that kings and queens fought over for thousands of years until a dragon burnt it to the ground. The six kingdoms have been faring quite well over the years. It took a lot of long hours and council meetings to get the country back into shape. Sansa had her hands full running the North as an independent kingdom like our brother Robb wanted it to be before he died. “What if I am not good enough, Father. They may have accepted Bran as King but he isn’t the last dragon?”
Lifting my head up in the room I shared with Jaime in the rebuilt Kings Landing castle I was still feeling uneasy about all this. Eyeing myself in the large mirror leaned up against the wall I slumped my shoulders. The dress I had chosen was red and golden with gray and black designs across it. It was short sleeved showing a banner seal of the
Lannister lion and the Targaryen dragon split together to combine one house seal. I had my riding boots on like normal running my hands down the fabric until arms wrapped around my waist from behind. “You have nothing to be nervous about, my dragon wife.”
“Jaime…” Spinning around in his arms I draped my arms on his shoulders lifting my gaze up so I could meet his green orbs. “We have been traveling so much with the kids. Casterly Rock to here and then Dragonstone. All over too many times to count, I just don’t want the people to think that I am not looking out for them too.”
He tilted his head to the side, raising his left hand up to cradle my cheek. Leaning into his palm he slowly spoke to me. “Listen, little dragon. Ruling isn’t easy and you are a mother first. I told you once that the rest of the world doesn’t matter, it’s just us.”
“But that can’t be true-“ He cuts me off with a quick kiss resting his forehead against mine.
He whispered back where my fingers gripped onto his armor that he was wearing. He wasn’t a Kingsguard but he decided to wear the golden armor on my coronation day. He was wearing the Lannister colors underneath like usual. “It is still true, Lynesse. As long as we are in this room or one of our chambers in either place we call home. We don’t have to worry about responsibility…all we focus on is our family.”
“Daddy!” A child’s cry came from the other side of the door making us break away from each other. He opened the door getting his legs tackled by our youngest daughter Guinevere.
The girl wrapped her arms around his legs giggling. She had taken after her father with the green eyes that almost would match my eyes at some points . But she had fully taken to having my white hair that looked blonde when she was in the sunlight. “Be careful there, little G.” I responded, bending down on my knee tugging her off her father’s leg and up into my arms.
“Mommy, Eddie keeps asking to see Uncle Tyrion.” Another girl’s voice that belonged to our eldest Rhaenyra ran inside the room where I could see her wearing a red short dress and trousers coming towards me. Her hair was in two separate braids falling over her shoulders.
Finally as if on cue Eddard entered afterwards. The locks of golden hair scattered everywhere in a set of messy curls almost on top of his head. He was wearing a training sword, reminding me so much of Arya. “He is Hand of the King, Rhae!….oh and Queen. Sorry mother.”
“It’s alright, Ed. I am not the Queen just yet.” Bouncing Guinevere on my hip I sent him a smile enjoying that he accepted his uncle with such happiness. Everyone in the world had hated the dwarf for long enough.
Guinevere tugged on my dress strap asking in her sweet voice. “Does that make daddy King?”
“It’s not like that, little lioness.” Her father stepped up taking her from my arms, ticking her stomach making her giggle loudly. “Your cousin Bran is king. I am simply the husband to the Queen of the Six kingdoms.”
Eddard raised his sword in the air with his right hand following his father with being the best young swordsman in the young King and Queensguard. “I will be a Knight, like father.”
“Nah Eddie. Dragon rider is better.” Rhaenyra crossed her arms over her chest sticking her tongue out at her younger brother. She had been riding Joanna with me since the day we told her she was old enough to ride a horse on her own.
Guinevere made a raspberry noise at her. “Princess….”
“Enough all of you. Whatever path you may choose is important. You are my children and you will be able to choose whatever you want. We have taken away the old traditions of the Gods.” I waved my index finger at the three once Jaime had placed our youngest girl on her feet so they were all looking up at us.
Someone knocked on the chamber door altering all of us. Jaime crossed the room opening the door meeting the gaze of our First Lady Knight Brienne. “Ser Jaime, My Lady. Everyone is ready. I shall escort the children downstairs.”
“Go on young dragon-lions.” Jaime nudged them with his knee sending the three of them forward. The three ran forward following closely behind the woman that was now named Commander of the Kingsguard/Queensguard. “Shall we, my dragon queen.”
He offered me his left arm that I looped my hand through tightly. Intertwining our hands together I stared up at him before we started walking through the hallways. Scanning my eyes around I felt nervous walking down their halls when we first came back here. At first glance I could only see my father Ned being killed even though I wasn't here the day it happened. I could still see a dream of it happening. But Jaime isn't without his own nightmares as I am well aware. Some scars stay with you. "What if not all the remaining houses accept me as their Queen?"
"What will it take for me to convince you that they will. Shall I drag you back to our chambers for a private reminder?' He sent me a glare tugging our walk to a halt, smirking that cocky grin he knew usually works on me.
"Jaime-" I attempted to say but he squeezed my hand still in his.
"Lynesse, this whole coronation is more for the Lords and Ladies to show their support for you in a formal way. You have been ruling the six kingdoms beside your cousin since the day the small council declared your name. You will always be their chosen queen from now and always. Just like you will forever be my loving wife." He pressed his forehead against mine, leaning down kissing me. Leaning forward I deepened the kiss until we needed breath starting our walk to the former throne room.
Walking in almost sync with each other there was a thought that kept crossing my mind. “Does it seem or feel weird to you. That I am queen but you aren’t the king of the six kingdoms?”
“Gods no, I never thought I could handle the job as Hand of the King. I most certainly couldn’t handle taking on the role of being king.” He snorted out, making me think that he was more used to sword fighting than anything else in his life.
Shrugging my shoulders I turned my head seeing that we were standing outside the main doors. "Here we go, my lion…" I muttered under my breath squeezing his hand a little tighter in mine.
"You'll do just fine, little dragon." He kissed the crown of my head watching the doors opened by two guards standing on either side. Together we strides through the aisle of people who all had their eyes on us. The train of my dress got dragged behind me when I walked. Before our eyes I noticed that Bran was sitting in his chair on the top set of the stairs where the Iron Throne used to be.
Sansa was standing beside him being on the front row of the crowds. Brienne had Rhaenyra, Eddard and Guinevere standing beside her. Arya would have been here but she was traveling the world so she was only here for Bran's coronation. Jaime and I finally stopped where he stepped to the side nodding at me with a proud smile. "Today we are gathered here to witness a beautiful moment for our time of new reign. My cousin and I may not have wanted the power but we shall keep doing our best to rule..Lynesse, please take a knee. Brienne, I will need your assistance."
"Of course, your Grace." She bowed her head stepping up to stand beside his chair ready to assist his help.
Bran glanced over to a Septon that walked forward carrying a pillow with Rhaenyra Targaryen's crown sitting on it. He held it out, never breaking his gaze with the king. "Lynesse Stark-Targaryen now married Lannister. I am here to ask will you honor the duties of the realm. Will you wear the crown and uphold the safety of the realm. Will you defend the houses and keep the peace from this day until the end of your days?"
"I will, King Brandon." I declared resting my elbow on my knee that I didn't have bent on the stone steps. Above his head was a painting made of glass that showed an image of the Iron Throne before it was destroyed and a Targaryen banner behind it. In place of the throne there was two separate thrones now on either side of the burnt swords that had been cleaned up.
Bran nodded at the Lady Commander simply. "Commander Brienne." She stepped forward pushing his chair forward where he could reach me closer.
She then handed him the crown, stepping back with a light bow. "Your Grace. My Lady."
"By the power vested in me by the Crown and law of the Six Kingdoms I hereby declare you Lynesse Lannister, formally born Targaryen, raised true as a Stark, Lady of Casterly Rock, Protector of the Realm. Now decried to be Queen Lynesse, The Last Targaryen." He lowered the crown down onto my head gently. I shut my eyes, sucking in a breath feeling the weight of the jewelry on my head. Rising to my feet I turned to face the crowd seeing Tyrion standing beside Sansa's side.
He raised a cup of wine in his hands declaring. "I, Tyrion Lannister, Hand of the King swear fealty to the Queen Lynesse Targaryen-Lannister!" He bent down on a knee nodding his head at me.
Ser Bronn of the Blackwater now known as Lord of Highgarden and Master of Coin. "I swear fealty to Queen Lynesse Targaryen-Lannister."
"I, Yohn of House Royce swear fealty to the Queen Lynesse Targaryen-Lannister." Another lord bent his knee to me.
Young Robin stepped forward, dropping down. "I, Robin Arryn of the Vale swear fealty to the Queen Lynesse Targaryen-Lannister."
"I, Edmure of House Tully swear fealty to the Queen Lynesse Targaryen-Lannister" Catelyn's brother got up bending down by his wife Roslin's side as she was holding their son in her arms.
Sam, Jon's friend from the Wall raises his hand coming to bend the knee next with a king smile. "I, Samwell of House Tarly, Grand Maester, swear fealty to the Queen Lynesse Targaryen-Lannister."
Davos Seaworth, Master of Ships. "...swear fealty to the Queen Lynesse Targaryen-Lannister."
"I, Gendry Baratheon of Storm's End…" Who used to be Robert's bastard son. "swear fealty to the Queen Lynesse Targaryen-Lannister."
The two final Lord and Lady finished their vows. "I, Howland of House Reed….I, Yara Greyjoy of the Iron Islands."
"I, Jaime of House Lannister, Lord of the Rock and Husband pledge to swear fealty to the Queen Lynesse Targaryen-Lannister." Jaime was the last person to bend the knee to me. His green eyes only focused on me as he sent me a proud smile.
My gaze fell down onto him watching the rest of the guests in the room bend down on their knees and bow their heads. "Gods save King Bran and Queen Lynesse!" From that moment I knew our story was far from over.

Ch 39 - The Future of Westeros
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Part 40
Fire OF A Stark
@dragonixfrye
Oh my gosh ya’ll ONE more chapters and then I will be completing this story ❤️ ❤️ 😭 😭 😭 ❤️
Tyrion and Jaime both declared together making me get a little embarrassed. I valued their opinions but it wasn’t theirs that scared me the most. “Lynesse Targaryen-Lannister for queen.”
Blinking my eyes a couple of times I was at a complete loss for words. Even though I was a mother of two growing children and a loving husband. I wasn’t even thinking about being a queen or really a ruler of anything. I have been so consumed with running all my life where I was too focused on keeping my true identity a secret. "Guys I am honored to think that you want me to be the queen of the Seven kingdoms. But I…I don't think I am meant for such a thing."
"You have done a great job with attending to the Rock household. Lynesse, you are so confident on dragon 's back. You risk your life for your people and you don't live by the sane Fire and Blood." Jaime declared placing his hand on my cheek making me turn my head looking at him directly in those bright green orbs. "I told you I would follow you wherever you go, you are my queen now and always."
Sansa shifts in her seat with her hands resting in her lap smiling at me. "You've always been looking out for me and Arya even after you learned who you really were. Lynesse, you have a good heart and you never wanted to use Joanna to get an advance in a battle. You would be a good queen."
"Lynesse, I have seen that you are different from most ladies in our realm the night we met at Winterfell so long ago. And if I recall you once told me that Rhaenyra Targaryen, daughter of Viscerys declared to you in a dream that she believed you were meant for the throne.” Tyrion slowly walked forward much to Grey Worms grumbling that he should stop moving but no one else stops him. “I understand that you might not want it but you are one of the best people that I know in my life..I would bend the knee to you, Lynesse Targaryen.”
All the other lords and ladies turned their heads in my direction. I felt uneasy. Rocking little Eddard in my arms I distracted myself as best I could looking at him. He opened his eyes real big staring up at me. Sucking in a sharp breath I swore that I was staring at my father or at least understanding what he had told me years ago.
"A Lord or Lady makes the hard decisions to protect their people…even when they are afraid." My father Ned told me and Robb as he was showing us where his sister Lyanna and his brother Brandon were buried in the crypt underneath the castle.
Robb glanced back at his father, confused pulling his fur cloak around himself more. “What are you trying to say, father?”
“Is this like anyone can be killed even if they are the greatest fighter in the world?” I questioned him, crossing my arms over my chest. Even though it was frowned upon by my mother Catelyn I had managed to slip away so I could learn lessons from my father. I had learned more from him than I would learning to sew a needle and thread.
Our father turned to face both of us. He had his right hand resting on his sword that he named Ice. “You are right, Cadence. That anyone can be killed but that is not what I am talking about. I am talking about that as the ruler of this house I wake every morning with fear and go to bed with fear in the night.”
“How can a man be brave if he is afraid?” Robb glanced between him and I.
He smiled simply, straightening his back shifting his gaze from each of us. “That is the only time a man or woman can be afraid my children. Now come we should go get ready for dinner.”
Robb headed up the stairs and he started to follow until I called his name, making our father pause in his steps. “Father, do you think someday when the world knows the truth about me…about my parents. Will they accept me or will I have to be afraid for the rest of my life?”
“Lynesse, my dragon. I have faith that one day you will find a group of people who will accept you.” He declares stepping forward kissing the crown of my head making me smile. “If you ever become queen you will do just fine so long as you follow the tips that I have taught you.”
“Lynesse, what do you say?” Jaime’s voice pulls me from my trance where I shake my head.
Brushing hair behind my ear he shifted Rhaenyra in her arm. “The realm won’t accept me as its queen…but I know someone they will, Bran.” Eyeing my brother in his wheelchair he just sent me a nod not saying a word.
“There's nothing in the world more powerful than a good story. Nothing can stop it. No enemy can defeat it. And who has a better story... than Bran the Broken? The boy who fell from a high tower and lived. He knew he'd never walk again, so he learned to fly. He crossed beyond the Wall, a crippled boy, and became the Three-Eyed Raven. He is our memory, the keeper of all our stories. The wars, weddings, births, massacres, famines. Our triumphs, mm, our defeats, our past. Who better to lead us into the future?” Tyrion caught onto my suggestion locking his eyes with the young living Stark child.
Sansa glanced between him then back at me and my husband. She absolutely loved that I had children even if they did share blood with the women who killed her father. “Bran has no interest in ruling and he can't father children.”
“Good.” Tyrion chuckled dryly at her glancing over his shoulder at Grey Worm. “Sons of kings can be cruel and stupid, as you well know. His will never torment us….That is the wheel our queen wanted to break.”
He faced our group of leaders once more slowly walking forward until he was so close to me and Bran. “From now on, rulers will not be born. They will be chosen on this spot by the lords and ladies of Westeros... to serve the realm. I know you don't want it. I know you don't care about power. But I ask you now, if we choose you...will you wear the crown? Will you lead the Seven Kingdoms to the best of your abilities from this day until your last day?”
“Why do you think I came all this way?” Bran replied simply.
Tyrion raised his head declaring a vote. “To Brandon of House Stark...I say aye.” Everyone around us declared yes in agreement.
“Lynesse, you shall rule by my side.” Bran turned in his chair so he could face me as best possible. “I know you have good judgment even if you don’t think you do. You have a good heart and a fighting spirit. And you are the last Taragaryn who never used her dragon except to stop the army of the dead.”
Blankly staring at him I still didn’t understand why they thought I would be a good queen. I mean yes did I have a dream about a dragon queen from 200 years before we ever existed. Yet it didn’t mean I would be a good leader. “Bran, I love you. And I appreciate that you all think I would make a good queen but why me, why?”
“Jaime, would you mind?” Bran gestured for him to push the wheelchair closer so my husband got up pushing the chair closer to me with his left hand. While he had his right arm secured on holding our daughter so he didn’t drop her. “I choose you to rule by my side as the realm’s queen because no one else was chosen to find this…The three eyed Raven predicted that you would one day become a queen and so today is now clearly that day. ” He drew out Rhaenyra’s crown hanging on the back of my chair.
Jaime rose to his feet, handing our daughter over to his brother for a moment so he could take the crown from my cousin’s hands. He drifted his gaze down to me, waiting for him to declare. “All hail Bran the Broken, First of His Name, King of the Andals and the First Men, Lord of the Six Kingdoms and Protector of the Realm.”
Everyone in our circle of leaders responded back. “All hail Bran the Broken!”
“All hail Lynesse the Last Targaryen, First of her name, Queen of the Andals and the First Men, Lady of Casterly Rock, Stark raised true, Lady of the Six Kingdoms and Protector of the Realm.” Tyrion made up his own declaration for me nodding to his older brother smiling proudly.
Everyone once more responded. “All hail Lynesse the Last Targaryen!”
“Lynesse-Cadence Targaryen-Stark-Lannister you shall forever be my Queen from this day until your last day.” Jaime Lannister, the man that I never thought I would fall in love with through an arranged marriage grinned. He gently sat the golden crown on my head slowly dropping onto a knee as he did so never breaking eye contact with me.
Bran titled his head to the side watching as Tyrion handed my daughter over to Sansa. Grey Worm stepped forward to lead him away. “Lord Tyrion... you will be my Hand.”
“N-- No, Your Grace, I don't want it.” He stuttered, glancing in my direction. “I couldn’t possibly, my queen.”
Bran said back. “And I don't want to be king.”
“Nor I queen, especially not without you to guide us.” I added on when Jaime rises to his feet coming to stand behind me resting his real hand on my shoulder.
He shakes his head trying to still turn down the job. “I don't deserve it. I thought I was wise, but I wasn't. I thought I knew what was right, but I didn't. Choose Ser Davos. Choose anyone else.”
“I choose you.” Bran sniped.
Jaime smirked, pointing his index finger at his little brother smiling proudly. “She won’t take the job without you, little brother. You have to accept this.”
Grey Worm cut in. “You cannot.”
“Yes, I can. I'm king.” Bran pointed out sternly but still in a kind tone.
He didn’t agree. “This man is a criminal. He deserves justice.”
“Grey Worn, I don’t think I need to remind you of her presence…” I trailed off lifting my head up where everyone lifted their heads seeing that Joanna was watching from one of the high cliffs above our heads. “I aim to change what my blood relatives have done. But you will learn your place and accept that he will meet the punishment we set for him.”
“He just got it. He's made many terrible mistakes. He's going to spend the rest of his life fixing them.” Bran added on placing his hand over mine making Eddard clap his hands together. We were the future of Westeros and he would have to accept that things would be changing in the years to come.

37 - Battle Celebration
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Part 38
Fire OF A Stark
@dragonixfrye
By the time the morning had returned over Winterfell castle everything was silent and the ground was covered with the bodies that had fallen during the long battle. Joanna’s wings were flapping lazily when we headed towards the ground. The snow gets pushed around when her claws hit the ground. Scanning over the battlefield I could feel a nervous pit in my stomach searching for Jaime. “Come on girl. We need to find him…Jaime!”
“Lynesse…urgh…Little dragon!” Whipping my head around I heard his voice come across the field. Climbing down off her saddle Joanna made a noise when I started running as fast as my legs could carry me seeing the golden hair and green eyes coming straight towards me.
Jaime halted in his tracks doing the best to catch me when I fling my arms around his body. We fell onto the snow clinging onto one another for dear life. “You are never allowed to fight anymore battles, do you understand me? You are supposed to remain by my side and not do anything reckless ever again Jaime Lannister.”
“Believe me, little dragon. I don’t intend on fighting anymore. There shouldn’t be any more battles after this one. The only thing you and I should worry about is us and our daughter.” He declares where I broke the hug getting to my feet offering my hand for him to take and he does where I grunted pulling him up to stand.
Wrapping my arms around his neck once more I sighed in relief. He wrapped his arms around my waist tugging me into his chest. He rested his forehead against mine hearing someone coming our direction. "Thank the gods that you two made it. I don't think I could have been a great father to Rhea. I am planning on being the fun drunk uncle Tyrion."
"Tyrion. Rhea..thank the gods." I stepped forward taking her from my brother in law's arms. Cradling her in my arms my eyes lifted back up to the castle where we all headed back inside. There was a beautiful sound of laughter that filled the halls of my former home. Slipping on a change of clothes I was wearing a gray tunic and some trousers. My hair was in two separate braids falling over my shoulders and my sword was attached to my hip even though there shouldn’t be any more battles to fight…you can never be too careful though.
Holding my daughter on my knee I bounced her up and down making her giggle. It hurt my heart to know that the last time there was laughter here was when the Stark family was still whole. "We will have you splashing in the water in the days to come, Rhea. I used to jump from the highest rock and into the water below with no ounce of fear. You shall too, my little lioness-dragon." Jaime explained tickling his daughter on the bottom of her feet making her giggle.
"And I remember once that you told me that you wouldn't be a good father." I teased him raising my glass of wine seeing Brienne and Tyrion walking over to us.
Tyrion slides in on the other side of the table sitting beside his brother. He pours himself a tall glass of wine sliding the wine over to the others wanting them to join in. “I have a drinking game that I enjoy. Let’s play that.”
Jaime nodded, pouring some for the First Lady knight of the Seven kingdoms. “We fought dead things and lived to talk about it. If this isn't the time to drink, when is?”
One of Jon’s men that was raised over the wall raises his glass causing everyone in the room to cheer beside him. “To the Dragon Queen!”
“To Arya Stark, the hero of Winterfell!” Daenerys raised her cup mentioning my younger sister who wasn’t in the room but she was rather out in the stables practicing her archery skills. She had managed to kill the Night King so now she was the greatest hero ever.
My brother in law turned to me explaining the rules of the game he apparently invented. “Here’s how it works. I will make a statement about your past. If I’m wrong I drink and if I am right you drink….you were trained how to sword fight by your brother Robb and Jon Snow.”
“Darn you Lannister.” I mutter drinking from my cup being the first to go. “Jaime’s turn.”
He pressed his lips together staring at Brienne. “Um...You are an only child.”
“I told you I was.” She knitted her brows.
He fought back. “You didn't.”
She shook her head. “I did.”
“I surmised it.” He waved his hand pointing his finger at her.
“Drink.” Tyrion raised his cup to his brother. “Go again.”
“Why does he get to go again?” She grumbled at the dwarf.
He crossed his arms over his chest, smirking.“Because it's my game.”
Rhaenyra reached for the cup in my hand so I held it away from her making her whine. Bending my head down I hummed the song that Sansa had taught me knowing it calmed her down. Jaime smiled in my direction finding that the torch light made your white hair almost glow giving him an idea when the three of you traveled. “You have danced with Renly Baratheon.”
Tyrion declared seeing that she looked at her squire Poddtrick who smiled. “Drink.”
“You kissed someone before Jaime?” She asked me making me lift my cup pretending that she was right but I pointed towards her smirking.
She glared at me drinking again trying to think of something. “Hmm..you once tried to cut your hair to look like a man, but Lady Catelyn was furious when she found out.”
“Fine.” I take a drink from my cup knowing she was right. I hadn’t told anyone but you could see parts of my hair were shorter than the others meaning I had layers from the incident.
It was an hour later and the game was still going on. Tyrion was leaning against the back of his chair tapping his fingers on the table watching his little niece. “Mm! You were married. Before Sansa.” She asked him suddenly.
“Drink.” Jaime pointed his finger at his brother's chest. The three of us watched the dwarf drink a long sip from his cup.
Tyrion shifted in his seat moving his gaze between his brother and I. Sucking in a breath I had no clue who he was going to talk about or what he would say. “You have thought about having more children since your birth of Rhaenyra.”
“Tyrion…that doesn’t count.” I blushed as red as the Lion banner. Jaime nudged me with his arm accidentally giving me the opportunity to see that my husband was blushing too yet he had that cheeky smirk on his face at the same time.
He cleared his throat moving his gaze downward to our daughter seeing that she was messing with her uncle Tyrion’s beard. “Tyrion…would you mind watching her for a little while?”
“You're drinking wine, but you prefer ale!” Brienne hit her fist on the table starting the game again seeing that Jaime and I had our minds elsewhere.
Tyrion laughed, finally looking in our direction. “No! Oh and of course I’ll watch the little dragon. But I demand to know some details later.”
Jaime and I got to our feet where I grabbed his hand dragging him through the hallway hearing Tyrion’s next statement of the game. “You're a virgin. At no point in the past, up until this very moment, have you slept with a man. Or a woman.” Yet we couldn’t be bothered to turn back.
“You should have told me you wanted children, little dragon. This could have happened so much sooner.” He told me capturing my lips with his own.
I pushed him against the wall wrapping my arms around his neck deepening the kiss smirking up at the lion. “Well I’m sorry. But you seem to have forgotten that we have been running from your sister and the army of the dead for quite some time. So I couldn’t really suggest to you that I wanted another baby now.”
“Avy jorrāelan lynesse stark-targārien (I love you Lynesse Stark-Targaryen)." He muttered in between our heated kisses. He switched our position where my back got pressed against the stone wall. He moved his real hand to cradle my face breaking the kiss eyeing the crown that sat upon my head now. "Pōnta istan calling hen naejot se tolie dāria zaldrīzoti tonight. Yn se mērī dāria nyke ūndegon iksos se mēre standing paktot isse naejon hen issa. ( They were calling out to the other dragon queen tonight. But the only queen I see is the one standing right in front of me.)"
Squeezing his shoulders underneath my fingernails I tugged him closer into my chest. I felt the golden hand go underneath my tunic shirt where I mumbled in between the heated kiss. "Avy jorrāelan jaime lannister."
"Nyke surprised naejot gūrēñagon bona targaryens aren't se mērī ones naejot ȳzaldrīzes valyrīha dombo. (I am surprised to learn that Targaryens aren't the only ones to speak Valyrian anymore.)" Whipping our heads around in the direction of the voice we broke away from one another seeing that Daenerys was standing in the middle of the hallway staring at us closely.
Separating from his embrace I gently put a hand to the crown feeling that it was about to fall off my head. "Daenerys. I should thank you. Having another dragon rider out there helped a great deal-"
"So it was true what Tyrion said about you. You are the one who holds the long lost crown of Rhaenyra. And that means that you and your Lion husband shall fight for the claim of the Iron Throne and Dragonstone." She cut me off and I could hear the annoyance in her tone.
"I don't intend on fighting for the throne. I don't want any part of it. You can have it no matter what. I just want to live out my life with my husband and our daughter." I exclaimed to her not expecting her to still see me as an enemy.
She stepped forward eyeing the crown upon my head. "If you don't want the throne then why are you wearing this?"
"I…uh…because I saw Rhaenyra in a dream. She told me she wanted me to find it." I stuttered on my words thankfully Jaime attempted to step up.
"My wife said she doesn't want the throne isn't that enough. You only have my sister fighting against you for it." He intertwined my hand with his leading us back to our chambers leaving the queen alone with her thoughts. "We will talk later, Daenerys."
Once the door was shut behind me I slumped my shoulders running my fingers through my hair. Staring at myself in the mirror I trained my eyes on the golden object on my head. "What if Rhaenyra was right about me, Jaime?"
"Right about what, Lynesse?" He came behind me wrapping his arms around my middle.
Turning in his arms I draped my arms over his shoulders meeting his green gaze. "In my dream she told me that the Iron Throne needed someone with the right family name. But also someone who wanted nothing to do with ruling the Seven kingdoms…someone like me."
"I thought you didn't want the throne, little dragon. You said that you wanted to return home to Casterly Rock and begin our lives again or have I misunderstood you?" He asked me tucking some hair behind my ear for me.
Dropping my gaze for a brief moment I hesitated in my answer to him. "I don't really know anymore. Dany declared she wants it. But before she got here you saw the Lords of the North bend the knee and declare me queen…I have no clue what the right thing to do is. I just love you and Rhea, that is all I know for certain."
"Whatever you decide I will be by your side. We are family and Lannisters always look out for their family." He mumbled wrapping his arm around my waist tugging me into his chest. Wrapping my arms around his neck I sighed looking back at us in the mirror. Jaime was staring down at me and I was staring straight at him with the dragon crown tilted on my head.

32 - Regaining the North
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Part 33
Fire Of A Stark
@dragonixfrye
“Arrangement, like what kind?” I asked knitting my brows together trying to figure out what he meant.
Little Finger stepped closer to me noticing that I wasn’t pregnant anymore. He heard the rumor but now it was true that there was a new Lannister heir. “Perhaps a marriage between Robin Lord of the Vale and whatever child you and the kingslayer have created. Say a girl.”
“I didn’t come here to sell off my infant daughter's life, Baelish. I am here to ask for help from the Vale. Now I know that Robin doesn’t know how to rule his own house being that he probably isn’t even the age of ten.” I spat resting one hand on my hip glaringly.
He stepped closer reaching up and messing with some loose strands of my hair making me meet his gaze. “I have learned that knowledge is power, my dear. For example I know that you are the last living dragon in the realm. That makes you valuable and your children even more so.”
“My child isn’t something to gain. She is only a baby. It would be years before she would be of age. Plus I have already made up my mind that I would never betrothe her off.” I stomped away from him, crossing my arms over my chest.
Baelish tapped his chin, stepping closer to me. Sansa warned me before I left that he had a way of words like Tyrion. And if he wanted someone to think he was their friend but then behind their backs he was the enemy then he would do just that. Most people were never that clever enough to figure him out before something happened. "You are right Robin is too young to make his own decisions. Which is why I am the one mostly in charge here. You see I could convince the boy to help his dear cousin or I could convince him to do nothing and let Ramsay Bolton keep the North."
Throwing my head back I scoffed knowing there wasn't much of a choice. Sticking my hand out to him I just sent him a glare. "Fine, I'll consider talking this over with my husband. But first we have to defeat Ramsay."
"Then I will help you." He responded by shaking my hand and walking away to find Robin.
Before he could leave the room I called out needing to know where he stood with my secret. We weren't allies. The only person that used to be an enemy that I now trusted was Jaime. "Are you going to tell the rest of the Seven kingdoms about who I really am or will you keep it a secret?”
“Knowledge is power, Cadence. If it is in my best interest then I might. But you have bigger things to worry about than whether or not I will do something.” He turned around to face me nodding his head in my direction. “Head home, little dragon.”
Doing as he said I climbed back on Joanna flying home. It was a much longer flight than I cared for. Finally returning to the stables I knew that Sansa was waiting for an answer but I didn’t have the energy to talk with her. Opening the door to our chambers I kicked off my boots seeing Jaime was passed out in the bed with Rhaenyra sleeping in his arms. Sitting down on the bed he stirred awake blinking his eyes seeing relief wash over his face. “Lynesse, seven hells. You have made me worried sick.”
“I missed you too, Jaime…I missed our little dragon too.” I whispered down to our still sleeping daughter before he tilted my chin up, capturing my lips with his gently. Leaning into the kiss I climbed into the bed on the other side of him so as to not wake our daughter.
Jaime wrapped his arms around my waist, finally breaking the kiss with me burying my face in the crook of his neck. His green eyes focused on mine where I could see that he hadn’t been sleeping. “So what they say. Are they going to help us?”
“They will…at least that is my hope. Littfinger is tricky with his words where he reminds me of his brother.” I replied, moving one hand up his chest until he intertwined his hand with mine. Jaime wouldn’t tell me until the morning that he had a hard time raising our daughter by himself. Closing my eyes I let myself fall asleep in his arms until the morning sun broke through the windows of our chambers.
Climbing out of the bed I changed into some different clothes entering the hall with Sansa sitting at the dinner table. Carrying little Rhaenyra in my arms she sent me a look. Jaime came in a few seconds later but Jon was nowhere to be found meaning that he had rode to prepare the men for battle. “I talked with Baelish. I think that I convinced him to help but there was a deal we had to make..”
“What kind of deal did he make?” Jaime asked seeing that my gaze had dropped down to our infant daughter and hadn’t left her once.
Shifting around in my seat I locked my eyes with him figuring that he wouldn’t take me seriously. I had told him multiple times that I didn’t want her to be forced into a marriage. Even though it is my life now that doesn’t mean that she should be forced into it like I was. “He wants to marry her to Robin Arryn.” Jaime was a good husband yet I still want her to have more freedom and a choice of what she does with her life.
“You wed her off to help our brother. I thought you said you didn’t want her to be forced into marriage like we have been. Marrying someone like Joffrey or Ramsay.” Sansa sat her fork down, eyeing me with confusion. She was completely right that I was the girl against marriage from the day I met Jaime.
Jaime reached forward resting a hand on my shoulder staring down at our child. He wanted to make sure that no one ever hurt her. “I am the Lord of Casterly Rock. If he isn’t suitable for her then I will put a stop to it when she becomes of age. I promise you, Lynesse.”
The doors opened with a guard informing us with a bow. “My Lord. My Ladies. Jon Snow and his army are ready to fight. Horses have been prepared for you all.” Sansa was on a white horse leaving me and Jaime to ride on brown horses. Holding Rhaenyra in my arms the battle wasn’t going well. Ramsay had a lot more men than we did. Jon and his men we’re getting their asses kicked.
“Cadence, you have to ride back and get Joanna. Ramsay will kill them all.” Sansa begged me looking at me with such a terrified look. She was grabbing her horses reigns tightly telling me she was really nervous.
Whipping my head around I gasped seeing Jon get punched into the mud basically getting stomped on into the ground. “Sansa, I’m not doing it. Dragon fire will mark me as being just like every Targaryen. We have to wait for them to show up.” Moving my gaze back onto the battlefield I gulped feeling nervous about this. Our men we’re getting their assses kicked and killed harshly where I really needed the Knights of the Vale to show up.
“Cadence, please!” Sansa begged me where I started feeling really bad that this would be my fault.
Jaime broke me from my trance calling out to me where Sansa and I both turned our heads seeing a whole army of soldiers riding towards us on horseback. “Lynesse. Sansa!” Slumping my shoulders in relief I released some happy tears seeing Baelish riding up to meet us on his own horse.
“Our deal is still strong, little dragon.” He responded by sending me a half smile on his face watching our army finally manage to beat out Ramsay. Guards had captured him, placing him inside the cells of the castle. Dismounting my horse Jaime walked behind me holding our daughter. I watched his gaze moving around the yard seeing that he hadn’t been back here since King Robert rode here. Moving my gaze up I grinned like a child again feeling so relieved that I was finally home. The Stark banner fell down on the walls of the castle meaning that the Starks were once again the protectors of the North.

“Sssh Rhae. Momma’s here. Just go back to sleep.” I shushed her holding her in my arms while she was having a terrible night of sleep. She hasn’t been sleeping as well as she used to a few months ago. I feared that she was coming down with something or that something was haunting her dreams.
The door to our chambers opened and then simply shut where I glanced over my shoulder hearing her clap her hands together giggling. “Hey there, Rhae. Did you miss daddy?” Jaime leaned forward kissing me before he tickled her belly taking her from my arms putting her down for a nap in the crib.
“I can’t believe she literally stops crying when you come back into the room. It just recently started happening and I don't know why." Slumping down in the chair in front of the fireplace Jaime tugged me up sitting down where I was then pulling me back down to sit on his lap.
He moved my hair from my eyes seeing that I had some bags underneath my eyes from lack of sleep. "I can tell you it's because she got used to being with me all the time while you traveled to the Vale. Give her time she'll grow out of it hopefully."
Laying my head against his chest I closed my eyes listening to his heartbeat. He placed his chin on top of my head just holding me while the only sound we could hear was the crackling of the fireplace. “I just want to go home. Be done with the battles and be happy like we were.”
“But this is your home, Lynesse. I mean you haven’t stopped talking about getting here for years. I don’t understand what is wrong now?” He asked me to tilt my chin up with his thumb where I was trained in his deep green eyes.
Dropping my gaze to the floor he was right. I have wanted nothing more than to be back here since the day we left. Yet there wasn’t the same feeling about it that there once was. “I can’t fully explain it but it’s just different. Even though it is my home it…doesn’t feel that way anymore.”
“I’ve already told you my home is wherever you and Rhae are. Just tell me where you want to go and I’ll make it happen, my dragon wife.” He declared making me focus my gaze back onto his. Leaning up I kissed him slowly moving one hand through his hair until he felt me smirking into the kiss. “What’s so funny?”
Breaking the kiss I moved my other hand over his bearded jaw thinking back to when he hated having it there. When we returned to Kings Landing he immediately got rid of it. “I must be honest that when you cut your long hair I was upset. Since I rather like it but now the beard goes with it quite nicely. You look like a real Northerner now.”
“So you’re intrigued by the Northern look eh. That's good to know. How would you feel if I got rid of it and got fat like Robert Bararethon?” He teased me burying his face in the crook of my neck moving his left hand down to my hip, making me squirm since I was ticklish there and he knew it very well.
I attempted to hold back a moan while he held me close to his chest so I couldn’t get away, not that I wanted to at the moment. “Jaime Lannister, you wouldn’t dare - oh seven hells!” Moving his face into my hands I crashed my lips onto his where he moaned moving his fingers underneath my tunic shirt until someone started banging on the door.
“Ser Jaime. Lady Lynesse. Lady Stark says she needs you on your dragon. There is someone approaching the castle with an army.” A guard explained before I climbed off my husband’s lap and he followed directly down into the stables. Jaime stepped back, remaining on the ground watching me climb on Joanna’s back shooting up into the sky. Scanning the northern area I finally saw what the guards were talking about. There was an army nearing the castle where I could see Jon riding beside the other dragon girl I had faced. She was coming here meaning he convinced her to fight the army of the dead.
Dropping back down on the snowy ground I dismounted her dragon back, running a hand over her scales softly. She huffed out some air meeting my gaze. Footsteps ran out to me where I saw Arya who was staring up at the sky in awe of the other creatures flying in the sky. “I thought you were the only one with a dragon, sis.”
“I once did too, Arya. I once did too.” I mumbled with Jaime walking up to stand beside me seeing a carriage pulling into the courtyard and to a stop. The door opened where I smiled rushing through the snow to greet my long friend and brother in law. “Tyrion!”
The dwarf lion opened his arms for me where I bent down on my knees embracing him in a long awaited hug. He wrapped his arms around me, closing his eyes, smiling when he noticed that his brother was there too. “I have missed you, dragon girl. I am curious to ask what about the baby?”
“It’s a girl and I - we named her after Rhaenyra. I’ll be sure to let you meet her later. And I can tell you for certain we have wine.” I smiled down at him, raising myself to stand again.
He clasped his hands together chuckling up at me. “Have I told you how much I love you, Lynesse.” Jaime and I chuckled with Arya moving over to check out Joanna up close. Nightfall had come over the castle where I slowly walked around the halls carrying my daughter in my arms. The halls seemed so familiar and if I closed my eyes a part of me swore that I could hear the older parts of my childhood.
Pausing in my tracks I heard Tyrion and Jaime talking in one of the halls with a large fireplace. They were both drinking while they talked. “I'm happy. I'm happy that you're happy. I'm happy that you'll finally have to climb for it. Do you know how long I've waited to tell tall-person jokes?”
Jaime chuckled clinking his cup with his brothers. “To climbing mountains.”
“What's she like down there?” His little brother asked.
Jaime scrunched his face up in disgust at his question. Peaking my head into a crack in the doorway I saw his gaze had locked on mine. “What? That's not your concern.” I felt my face turn red a little at the question
“I haven't been with a woman for years. Give me a morsel.” Tyrion hit him on the arm.
Jaime scoffed before I pushed open the door turning in his chair seeing me. “You're a dog. There’s my girls.”
“I am the Imp, and I demand to know.” Tyrion waved his index finger at his brother when he pulled up a chair so I could sit in between them. “Lynesse, thank goodness. Please tell your husband to answer my question about your love life.”
Sitting down I shifted to cradle Rhaenyra in my arms. Glancing in the direction of my brother in law I scrunch my nose up at the mention. “Friends we may be, Tyrion. But I am never going to tell you how good your brother is.”
“I knew you’d fall for that lion, dragon girl.” Whipping my head around with my white hair falling in front of my eyes I gasped seeing the knight that was training Jaime to get better at sword fighting.
Tyrion paused, eying the man. “Ser Bronn of the Blackwater. Where's your drink? What are you-- What are you doing up North?”
“What are you doing with that?” Jaime and I both noticed that there was a crossbow in his hands.
Bronn pointed it in between the brothers taking a seat in front of the three of us. “Oh, this? This is for you. For both of you. Year after year, I've shoveled Lannister shit, and what do I have to show?”
“You're a knight, thanks to me.” Tyrion spoke up.
“Thanks to me. And that title's worth as much as a blond hair from your brother's ballsack.” Bronn scoffed, moving the crossbow.
Tyrion got cut off by the swordsman. “Power resides where men believe--“
Bronn raises his tone. “Shut your mouth.”
“I'm just trying--“ The dwarf tried again.
He threatened him while I felt our infant steering in her sleep. She was sucking on her own thumb which was adorable to me. “I've never hit a dwarf before, but say another word and I will belt you.”
“See, I don't believe you'd do that, after all--“ Bronn suddenly punched him where he grabbed his nose. Jaime and I both jumped to our feet where I moved one hand to the sword on my hip.
“You couldn't do it on your best day, you one-handed fuck. And your best days are long gone.” Bronn teased him, pointing the weapon at him. “Put your weapon away sweetheart. I don’t have any intention of hurting the baby.”
Tyrion tilted his head groaning. “You broke my nose!”
“I did not break your nose.” He responded back.
“How do you know.” The young Lannister asked.
The knight sat back down in his chair. “Because I've been breaking noses since I was your size, and I know what it sounds like. Now listen. Your sister offered me Riverrun. Nice big castle, good lands, plenty of peasants who do what they're told.”
Shaking my head I entered the conversation. “And you trust Cersei. You do realize that she has no allies right. I mean she literally has tried to kill me and my family on multiple occasions. The only reason I’m alive is because I have my own dragon. For all I know she would put my head on a spike if I didn’t have Joanna.”
“I knew your sister was dead the second I saw those dragons. Now, your army may be torn to shit, but I'd still bet on your Dragon Queen to win. And it just so happens I'm a betting man. If Cersei's dead, she can't pay up. Mmm, that's good. Of course, the odds change if the Dragon Queen's Hand turns up dead. Maybe a few of her top generals get picked off one by one. All of a sudden…” Bronn leaned back in his chair picking up a cup while taking a long drink. “As for you, dragon girl. I am very confident if one of them fails I have you to offer me something.”
Tyrion leaned up holding his hand underneath his nose seeing it had stopped bleeding. “May I speak?”
“Why not? Only death will shut you up.” He rolled his eyes.
“We made a deal long ago. Do you remember?” The dwarf reminded him.
His former friend quoted him looking from him then it was Jaime and I. I wasn’t in the interest of making deals anymore with anyone. “If anyone offered me money to killed you, you'd pay me double. What's double Riverrun?”
Tyrion declared. “Highgarden. You could be Lord of the Reach.”
“Highgarden? Are you mad?” Jaime glared at his brother not agreeing with him.
“It's better than being dead.” His little brother exclaimed.
Rhaenyra made some noises waking up and reaching for Tyrion’s beard since he was just in her reach. He made a noise when she managed to tug on the curly strands. “He’s got a point, Jaime.”
“He's not going to kill us. He wouldn't be talking to us if--“ Jaime cut himself short when Bronn fired the crossbow where I jumped backwards with a scared look on his face slowly looking at me.
He lowered the weapon. “The way I see it, I only need one of the Lannister brothers alive.”
“Highgarden will never belong to a cutthroat.” Jaime scoffed, placing a hand on my leg since he didn’t really trust the guy with the crossbow now.
Bronn declared cocking the crossbow again pointing it at the dwarf before he got to his feet. “No? Who were your ancestors, the ones who made your family rich? Fancy lads in silk? They were fucking cutthroats. That's how all the great houses started, isn't it? With a hard bastard who was good at killing people. kill a few hundred people, they make you a lord. kill a few thousand, they make you king. And then all your cocksucking grandsons can ruin the family with their cocksucking ways. Highgarden. Give me your word.”
“You have my word.” Tyrion replied, still holding his nose.
Bronn got up exiting the room leaving the three of us in silence. Turning my head between the boys I didn’t have much to say except what we were all thinking. “He does realize that he just threatened a girl with a fully grown dragon. That’s not very smart for a betting man if you ask me.”

Ch 33 - The North Remembers
Tumblr media
Part 34
Fire OF A Stark
@dragonixfrye
Joanna flapped her large wings with me riding onto her back. My hair was completely loose except for a few strands clipped back with a golden hair clip that used to belong to Jaime’s mother. The wind blows through my hair soaring over the north grounds. Today Sansa and Jon were calling the Wildings Vale and the Northern houses. Since the North men didn't come to our call we wanted to know why. Looking down at the snowfall ground below I tugged her reins sending my dragon to land in the open courtyard seeing Jaime was waiting for me to come back. He had his arms tightly wrapped around himself trying to keep warm. Dismounting my dragon she sent him a low noise when I walked up. "Are you adjusting any better to this climate, Jaime?”
“I would like to say yes. But unfortunately no…the North still hates me.” He shivered, gripping his black fur cloak tightly around him. There was fallen snow sticking in his short cut blonde hair and his beard was growing thicker that I was still getting used to.
Resting my hands on his chest tugging him inside the horse stables so the wind wasn’t as harsh on him. Even though I had moved from the South so suddenly then we went back to the North. I was still used to the climate and how the weather worked. “Well I am sorry about that. I will say thought that I am grateful that you chose me and Rhaenyra over your sister. I know how much you loved her.”
“I did until I met you. Now I can’t see my life without you and our daughter.” He explained leaning down, kissing me softly. Moving my hands up onto his shoulders I leaned up on my toes until he bent down since I was shorter. “Sansa is watching Rhae before the lords arrive do maybe we should do something with our time alone together hmm."
I smirked knowing where he was going with this. Wrapping my arms around his neck I deepened the kiss we had moments ago. "Oh is that right, Lion."
“It is my little dragon.” He hummed tugging me closer to his chest kissing me passionately. His left hand moved up into my hair twisting my locks between his fingers, getting me to moan into the kiss. Wrapping my arms around his neck once more I leaned closer not hearing footsteps approaching.
“Cadence. Jaime, the lords are here. And I need to speak with my sister for a moment alone.” Jon’s voice caused us to break apart seeing him avoiding to meet our gaze and instead looking at his snow covered boots.
Breaking away from my husband I cleared my throat walking up to my brother. “Uh sure. We can talk Jon.”
“I’ll go check on Rhae.” Jaime nodded his head leaving towards one of the castle entrances leaving us alone to talk. Jon and I headed into one of the empty hallways of the castle.
Running my hands over my tunic I slumped my shoulders looking in my brother’s eyes that were black. Some of his hair was falling out of his bun. “So I got to thinking about what the lords might say about not fighting alongside us. And you mentioned to Sansa in one of your letters that you have the crown of a past dragon queen.”
“Yes I do. But I don’t understand what that has to do with this conversation Jon.” I point out shrugging my shoulders at my brother.
Jon gestures with his hands making his sword sway when he takes a step closer. “Years ago the realm loved the Targaryens. You are the last known living one. They will back you without question and we will need everyone when the army of the dead comes for us all.”
“I’m sorry did you just say army of the dead. Jon, what are you talking about and how do you think me telling who I am will accomplish anything?” I questioned thinking that he was starting to lose it. I didn’t know the things that he saw when he was at the wall but even I had limits to the things I would believe.
He gently grabbed my shoulders making me finally look him in the eye deeply. “I saw an entire army. The white walkers are real, Cadence. I know it sounds crazy but they are. And they don’t tire. They can only be killed in two ways. They will come for us now that the wall has been destroyed.”
“Jon…I…how does mean being a Targaryen help against something like that?” I shook my head still not understanding where his head was at.
He sighed heavily. “Because they loved the dragon family. If anyone can bring the houses together to fight an enemy together I have hope that it is you. Please Cadence. Please try for me.”
Nodding my head I sucked in a sharp breath leaving him to go into my chambers before we were supposed to meet with the lords. Slipping on some new clothes I shrugged my fur cloak on that had Lannister and Stark colors. Glancing over my shoulder I sighed slowly picking up the golden dragon crown and holding it in my hands. “I hope you're right about this Jon.” Sitting it gently on my head looking myself over in the mirror I had to admit that it looked rather good on my head like it was always supposed to be there,
Walking into the room with the large fireplace seeing Jon and Sans with the wildling leader all standing in front of the table. Jaime glanced in my direction parting his lips he was holding little Rhaenyra in his arms. Slowly walking forward I took our daughter from his arms feeling all eyes on me from the North men. “That’s the Lannister wife…how does she have a dragon grown….she has a child.” Each of them muttered under their breaths.
Sitting down with Jaime standing beside me he leans down whispering in my ear with a slight smirk in his tone. “The crown looks rather good on you, Lynesse.”
I sent him a smile before one of the Northern lords scoffed towards the wilding. “You can't expect Knights of the Vale to side with wildling invaders.”
The wildling leader scoffs back. “We didn't invade. We were invited.”
“The free folk, the northerners, and the Knights of the Vale fought bravely, fought together, and we won. My father used to say we find our true friends on the battlefield. The Boltons are defeated. The war is over.” Jon declared, trying to make them all understand.
But the lords of the North are too stubborn to give in. “Winter has come. If the maesters are right, it'll be the coldest one in a thousand years. We should ride home and wait out the coming storms.”
“The war is not over. And I promise you, friend, the true enemy won't wait out the storm. He brings the storm.” Jon pleaded, hearing them all muttering under their breaths.
Suddenly there was a little girl named Lyanna that stood up for house Mormont. She could only be the age of teen or maybe Arya’s age from the looks of it. But she spoke with a fiery spirit reminding me a lot of myself. “Your son was butchered at the Red Wedding, Lord Manderly, but you refused the call. You swore allegiance to House Stark, Lord Glover, but in their hour of greatest need, you refused the call. And you, Lord Cerwyn, your father was skinned alive by Ramsay Bolton. Still you refused the call.” She turned to each of the lords and declared them unfaithful to the cause and vow that they had sworn. “But House Mormont remembers The North remembers. We know no king but the King in the North whose name is Stark. I don't care if he's a bastard. Ned Stark's blood runs through his veins. He's my king from this day until his last day.”
“Lady Mormont speaks harshly and truly. My son died for Robb Stark, the Young Wolf. I didn't think we'd find another king in my lifetime. I didn't commit my men to your cause 'cause I didn't want more Manderlys dying for nothing. But I was wrong. Jon Snow avenged the Red Wedding. He is the white wolf. The King in the North.” One of the lords who first spoke about the wilding admitted defeat.
“There's nothing to forgive, my lord. There will be more fights to come. “ Jon replied, seeing that Sansa was staring at him.
Another lord drew his sword in the air. “House Glover will stand behind House Stark as we have for a thousand years. And I will stand behind Jon Snow... the King in the North!“
Lord Manderly looked in my direction where I knew he remembered what my brother Robb once said. “I did not fight beside you on the field and I will regret that until my dying day. A man can only admit when he was wrong and ask forgiveness….” He paused drawing his sword from his hip pointing it directly at me. “Your brother Robb said that you would always be a Stark no matter what happens. Do you believe that there is a good reason we should fight alongside him and a Lannister?”
“Sansa, would you mind?” I asked handing her niece over to her so I could get to my feet and not worry about dropping her. Clearing my throat the crown felt much heavier than the moment I put it on my head. “I know that the North and South have never been allies in the past. But in my experience the Lannister’s and the Stark’s rather I should say Taragaryen’s can work together.”
“How do we know that you aren’t just lying because that is what the lion wanted you to say. If I remember right he used to be a prisoner in your brother’s camp-“ I cut the lord off.
“Until I set him free in order to try and protect my sisters. But that was in the past. The truth is now what matters in the future.” Clutching my hands into fists at my sides I sighed, shifting my gaze around the room at all the different lords. “The truth here is that I am half Stark and half Taragayrn. I am the daughter of Rhaegar Taragaryn and Elia Martell. So you can trust my word when I say that Jaime of House Lannister is loyal to me and in the name of our daughter Rhaenyra Lannister.”
Lady Mormont straightened her back sending me a proud smile while she spoke towards me. “I know what we should call you than , Lady Cadence. If we declare Jon Snow as the King in the North than we have no choice but to declare you the Dragon Queen of the North!”
“Thank you, Lady Mormont. Although I will reveal that my true born name is Lynesse Targaryen.” Shortly after I said that the entire room of lords drew their sword declaring the titles they had just given me and Jon. Jaime came to stand beside me intertwining his hand with mine, smiling down at me. Lifting my head up I had to admit that for once it felt good to not have such a weighted secret on my shoulders anymore.

31 - Knights of the Vale
Tumblr media
Part 32
Fire OF A Stark
@dragonixfrye
Walking through Castle Black shrugging my brown fur cloak over my shoulders I paused watching the snowfall from one of the windows. Tonight is when Jon would face off against Ramsay to get back Winterfell. I am praying that he could actually reach the goal. Footsteps approached me down the hallway where I noticed it was my sister. “I don’t see how Jon thinks he will win this battle. He doesn’t know how he thinks.”
“Well Jaime doesn’t either. I am sorry we can’t be more helpful.” I responded by resting my elbows on the window seal. Jaime was watching little Rhaenyra in our chambers.
She crossed her arms over her chest locking a deep gaze with me. Her eyes were more serious than I remembered them to be. From Jofferey in King's Landing to Ramsay in Winterfell her marriages have been nothing like mine. It hurts me to know that the innocent girl has been treated so harshly. “Can I know why the Lannister army isn’t here? I tried to recruit the Blackfish and the Knights of the Vale. Unfortunately there hasn’t been much of a response.”
“We fled Kings Landing after I gave birth. Cersei is now the Queen of the seven kingdoms. I - I was terrified that she would murder me and Rhaenyra. Because she has the blood of a dragon and a lion.” I explained tucking hair behind my ear, slumping my shoulders in defeat.
Sansa looked at me softly beginning to walk down the hallway and I followed her heels. “I can understand that, sis. So what about using Joanna as an advantage on the field. If we can’t secure help for the battle.”
“I don’t want to put her on the battlefield and be viewed like all the other Targaryens are when they die. The house words may be fire and blood but I refuse to go down that road.” I declared hoping she would understand. I was a chosen Stark of the North. We both walked down the stairs until we were standing outside in the falling snow.
Sansa paused in her step seeing that Joanna was flying above our heads until she flew down and landed in front of us gently. “Is it safe for me to be around her…well maybe you could help bring the Knights of the Vale here.”
“They hate the Lannisters, Sansa. The late lord was poisoned apparently by them. If I set foot in their castle with Jaime they would probably execute him on the spot.” Throwing my hands up I couldn’t believe she would suggest something like that.
She bites her lip getting an idea. “Little Finger was there the last time I was before he married me off to Ramsay. He knows how to play the game. If you show up on dragonback as the last living Targaryen then I don’t see how they could say no.”
“You may have a point but there’s something you should know…I am not the last living Targaryen in the realm. There’s another.” Tapping my chin, my right hand fell to the handle of my sword on my hip.
She knitted her brows together. “What do you know about this other dragon?”
“She doesn’t have just one full grown dragon like me. She has three of them, Sansa. I have seen what she can do with just one so I am horrified to think what she could do with all of them.” Wrapping my arms tightly around myself I could still see some of the soldiers' bodies on fire and the horses running for their lives. “Her name is Daenerys and they call her the mother of dragons. Tyrion is her hand and is her adviser.”
My sister moved her gaze up to meet Joanna deep gaze. “Well you’re not like the rest of them. You were raised to be good and you weren’t born to have a dragon. So I believe that you are going to be different from the past dragons.”
“If you say so, sis….I’ll go and try to speak with Vale.” Squeezing her hand in mine I left her alone needing to find my husband and see what he thought about the backup plan we had in mind.
Pushing opened the door to our chambers Jaime was laying on the bed with little Rhaenyra asleep beside him. He lifted his gaze up to meet mine. “What is it now, Lynesse?”
“Sansa and I were talking and she informed me that she has been trying to get more soldiers yet there’s no luck.” I explained gently shutting the door behind me as to not wake our daughter.
Jaime rose to his feet, confusion written on his face. "Where are you going with this little dragon?"
"I am saying that I am hoping to fly to the Vale and convince them to come fight and take back Winterfell with us. Jon was right the Blackfish is gone and we need more men if there's even a chance to get more soldiers." I declared simply.
Jaime immediately responded back, raising his tone towards me. "No way in seven hells are you doing that!"
"And why not. I have my own dragon in case you've forgotten." I questioned not expecting him to say no.
He takes a step towards me where our chests were almost touching. His green eyes trained on me. "The Vale hate us Lynesse. They tried to murder my brother through the moon door for a crime he didn't commit. It's not safe for us there. They will consider you the enemy just because you're married to me."
"We have to try something, Jaime. And I refuse to let Jon ride off into a battle he might not win. So we have to do everything we can." I fought back towards him stomping my boots on the stone ground. "It's a risk we have to take and Sansa isn't taught to handle things like this."
Jaime grumbled reaching forward and resting his left hand against my cheek. "Lynesse, please just be careful."
"I will do my best. You have my word.” I vowed to him getting one last look at my sleeping daughter before leaving our chambers. Entering the stables I climbed onto Joanna’s back. Grabbing the reins we took to the skies and it was a much quicker trip to the Vale then it would have been on horseback. It was almost nightfall when I arrived at the castle with the guards drawing their blades at me. Raising my hands up in surrender I paused. “I am her to speak with the Lord of the Vale at the request of Sansa Stark of Winterfell.”
The guards lowered their weapons escorting me inside to see Little Finger and the young lord who could only be about Arya’s age standing beside him. “Lady Stark or should I say Lady Lannister-Targaryen it is a shock to see you here.”
“I thought the dragons were gone, uncle Peter.” The little boy spoke up.
Clasping my hands in front of myself I eyed the boy. Tyrion had told me that the boy's father was poisoned by someone working with the Lannister’s. But it seems odd to me to not have seen the lady of the Vale here as well. “I come at the request of my sister Sansa. She wants to take back Winterfell from the Boltons who you forced her into marrying for who knows what reason. She wants to ask for assistance from the Vale army.”
“I’m the lord of Vale. I have the power….you’re husband’s family murdered my father.” The boy piped up playing with a glass dove in his hands.
Dropping my gaze to the floor for a brief second I could feel Little Finger glaring at me. “How are we supposed to trust you, Lady Cadence? You are after all a Lannister by right. The Vale cannot afford to lose anymore of its rulers. Perhaps we could see your level of trust by making some sort of arrangement.”
“Arrangement, like what kind?” I asked knitting my brows together trying to figure out what he meant. The child of the Vale was now playing around the room leaving us to talk.
Little Finger stepped closer to me noticing that I wasn’t pregnant anymore. He heard the rumor but now it was true that there was a new Lannister heir. “Perhaps a marriage between Robin Lord of the Vale and whatever child you and the kingslayer have created. Say a girl.” Blinking my eyes I had no clue what to say to him about this.

Ch 28 - The Trip Back North
Tumblr media
Part 29
Fire Of A Stark
@dragonixfrye
Sansa, Jon and Brienne were sitting at one of the long tables inside Castle Black eating breakfast in silence until Sansa started tapping her fingers nervously on the table. “What is troubling you, my lady?”
“Uh nothing.” She lifted her head up to the knight’s question, resuming her nervous tapping without realizing it.
Jon sat his fork down looking towards her direction. “Something is clearly bothering you, Sansa. Now stop lying and just say what is making you so nervous.”
“It’s just…Cadence uh Lynesse.” She corrected herself, finding it hard to keep calling her a completely different name then what she had growing up. “I sent the letter to King's Landing but I doubt that she received it since Cersei has spies everywhere. It will be lucky if she gets it at all.”
Brienne sat upright sitting beside the Stark girl. “Ser Jaime will not let anyone lay a hand on her, my lady. When I was charged with returning them back to the city he seemed to be very determined to protect her even though she despised him. By now they have probably grown closer since I last saw them.”
“Brienne is right, Sansa. Cadence is too stubborn to go down without a fight. If she wants to know something she will find a way.” Jon declared knowing that not even being pregnant could stop the winter dragon he knew.
The red wolf girl nodded her head slowly hoping that they were right but she knew Cersei better than either of them. She had taught the young girl much about the harsh world they lived in. Women could get a man to do anything saying they thought with the thing between their legs. “We should discuss the possibility that she gets here. She had a tiny dragon the last time I saw her. It's fifty fifty short that Cersei allowed her dragon to live.”
“I thought they destroyed all the dragon eggs. When did she receive a dragon?” Jon asked clearly not being told such a thing unlike the other two who had seen the baby Joanna.
Brienne glanced towards him. “From what I remember Lady Lynesse told me that it was discovered in the crypts of Kings Landing. And the little creature hatched on her wedding night to Ser Jaime. The dragon was defending her from getting hurt by the other lords. By now if the little one is alive I would guess that it is fully grown and could do some real damage.”
“Cadence wouldn’t hurt people with dragon fire. It’s not who she is.” Sansa cut in, shaking her head.
“Sansa, she’s half dragon though.” Jon trailed off not wanting to think it could happen but they would have to see their sister to know if the rumors were true. “The Targaryens aren’t exactly known to not snap at some point in their lives. Their words are Fire and Blood after all. “
“But she was raised as a Stark. She is a dragon and a wolf, Jon, I refuse to believe that she will go insane.” The young teenage girl rose from her seat leaving the hall.
The lady knight knew what the white wolf was saying but she could vouch for the Golden Lion she had traveled with long ago. “That may be true but Ser Jaime is more than just the Kingslayer. Lady Lynesse probably sees it more than I ever will. Those two could be the best thing for each other.”
“She’s the last known Targaryen. If she finds her way here then the Seven kingdoms may turn on House Lannister and she will be expected to sit upon the Iron Throne.” He paused, picturing the conversation they had shared before he had left for the black. Saying that she didn’t give a crap about anything else. “If she’s now come to want such power that is.”
Lynesse/Cadence’s POV
The weeks have been long on our journey to Castle Black and we had many nights ahead of us. Thankfully I have gotten little Rhaenyra to sleep most of the time during the trip. Jaime wasn’t wrong that it probably wasn’t the best time to be traveling especially with an infant. We were heading North as well, but my family needed me. “I’m surprised she can just sleep in your lap like she has. It’s a miracle she isn’t making a fuss.” Jaime commented on riding a black horse beside me.
“Don’t jinx it now. We have a much longer way to go since we can’t just head straight to Winterfell.” I warned him holding her in one arm and my other hand gently grabbed the reins of my light brown horse.
My white hair was pinned back a little with the remaining falling loosely down my back with some waves in my locks. A light brown fur cloak with the Lannister lion symbol stitched into the back. Wearing a gray tunic and red trousers underneath it with some black boots. In a bag attached to the saddle of my horse I had the Valyrian book and Rhaenyra’s crown were placed inside. “I am a military man but I think we could just take it since we have a full grown dragon flying over our heads.”
“We’re not using Joanna. The Bolton’s are known for their archery skills. I don’t want to give Ramsey the chance to kill her. She’s my other baby after our daughter.” Turning my head towards my husband he shrugged his shoulders making a noise under his breath.
Glancing over my shoulder I watched Joanna flying low enough at the height of our horses so we couldn’t be easily spotted from a distance. Slowly my horse down to trot I reached into my bag pulling out the Valyrian book flipping some pages. “Since we have a long road ahead of us, why don’t I try and teach you some Valyrian hmm.”
“I’ve already told you I am not good with books, Lynesse. I’ll leave it to you and my brother.” Jaime tried to brush it off knowing he was better with a sword than a book.
Throwing my head back in annoyance I was serious that I needed something to keep my mind off the hours of traveling. This trip was going a lot easier than the last time we were riding together. “Jaime, please try and do this for me.”
“Fine but I won’t be very good.” He slumped his shoulders waiting before I kicked my horse walking right beside him.
Turning to another page I had written down some sentences I wanted to try, seeing that he had let me name our daughter after the dragon girl who was named heir in front of the lords of Westeros. “Ao’ll adjust naejot se sōnia, jaime. Nyke’ll sagon konīr naejot dohaeragon ao rȳ ziry.” (You’ll adjust to the North, Jaime. I’ll be there to help you through it.)
“How do I say I’m not sure that is certain, little dragon?” He asked me.
“Nyke daor sure bona jāhor mirre.” I spoke in the tongue.
He cleared his throat releasing a breath actually sounding pretty good to me. “Nyke daor sure bona jāhor mirre.” (I am not sure that will work).
“Let’s try something else. We will need to ensure that my brother won’t try and kill you after what your sister and father have done to my family.” I slumped my shoulders hearing him sigh heavily under his breath. I knew he hated to think that the misery I dealt with was his family’s fault. “Northerns don’t pāsagon outsiders olvie olvie.” (Northerns don’t trust outsiders very much.)
He tugged the reins of his horse to a stop seeing Joanna stirring in my lap. He pulled the horse to a stop, taking her from my arms and holding her with his left hand. “Sssh sweet girl. Uh, do you know any songs to get her back to sleep?”
“Um one I think…” I paused tapping my freehand on my leg trying to remember the song that Sansa used to practice all the time. I never cared to memorize such things. Singing couldn’t solve all problems. “Gentle muñnykeā, font hen mercy, save īlva trēsi hen vīlībāzma, īlon jorepagon. Umbagon se korzoti se umbagon se arrows, ivestragī zirȳ gīmigon nykeā sȳrkta tubis. Gentle muñnykeā, kustikāne hen ābrar, dohaeragon īlva daughters rȳ bisa fray. Soothe se wrath se tame se vēdros, bodmagho īlva ry nykeā kinder ñuhoso. Gentle muñnykeā, font hen mercy, save īlva trēsi hen vīlībāzma, īlon jorepagon. Umbagon se korzoti se umbagon se arrows, ivestragī zirȳ gīmigon nykeā sȳrkta tubis.” (Gentle Mother, font of mercy, Save our sons from war, we pray. Stay the swords and stay the arrows, Let them know a better day. Gentle Mother, strength of women, Help our daughters through this fray. Soothe the wrath and tame the fury, Teach us all a kinder way. Gentle Mother, font of mercy, Save our sons from war, we pray. Stay the swords and stay the arrows, Let them know a better day.)
Little Rhaenyra snuggles into her father’s chest making some cooing noises as she drifts off to a deep sleep. “I’ve never heard you sing before, Lynesse. I have to say you’re rather good at it.”
“Thank you, Jaime. We should make camp in some part of the woods. Joanna can stand guard for us.” Looking up towards the skyline the sun was setting in the distance meaning that night would fall in about a couple hours.
Jaime agreed drawing the horse to a stop once we found a group of trees where Joanna could lay outside with us sleeping in the little closed area of trees. Dismounting my horse first I took our children from his arms since he had a hard enough time getting off his horse with one hand, he didn’t need to carry a baby at the same time. “Lay down first with her sweetheart. I’ll get the horses tied down.” He told me simply.
Crawling up onto a fur blanket we used to lay on the ground I curled up with our daughter before he kinda flopped down beside us. He draped the extra blanket over us before we snuggled in closer knowing it would be another cold night and we weren’t even half way North yet. “Jaime, there’s something you should know. I really appreciate what you’re doing for me…” I trailed off seeing his green eyes staring longingly into mine.
“What do you mean, little dragon?” He questioned resting his real hand on my hip. My head was laying on his chest tracing patterns on his shirt holding our sleeping infant in my other arm.
Biting my lip I listened to the sounds of woods around us setting in. I was nervous to tell him how I really felt. Despite how much we have gone through, a small part of me still believed that his sister had him wrapped around her finger. “Jaime I, I doubt expect you to say it or even feel it. If you don’t feel the same I will accept the truth and be happy with what we have at this moment. But I am in love with you, I think I have been in love with you for a while.”
“Lynesse, I…I don’t know what to say.” Jaime paused trying to process what I had just said. The golden lion never imagined that he would know love. Cersei always told him that the only one who could love him was her. But staring at the dragon-wolf before him he actually knew the only words to say back to her. “Lynesse Stark-Targaryen. I thought I would only love one woman in my life, my sister. But you have given me more from life than she ever has…this is the closest I will ever get to say…I…love you too.”
Leaning forward I connected my lips with his, causing him to lift his real hand deepening the kiss. Moving my freehand up his chest my fingers ran through his hair hearing him moan into the kiss until we broke it needing air. In that moment Jaime and I actually looked at the other in the same way for once since the day we had met.

Ch 25 - Dragons VS Dragons
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Part 26
Fire OF A Stark
@dragonixfrye
Maxon Hill (Baratheon) is a new added on OC.  Since we only know a few of Robert's bastards I decided to make my own enjoy.
Months Later
Clutching my stomach I groaned laying back in the bed In our room in Casterly Rock. My white hair falling in a mess over my shoulders. We had gotten to the rock a few weeks after we had learned I was pregnant with Jaime’s child. Someone knocked on the door before they peaked their head inside. “My Lady Lannister?”
“Come in, Ser Hill.” I waved my hand motioning for the bastard to enter the room. Jaime had hired the former blacksmith boy as my personal knight for protection.
He was only sixteen so a year younger than me now in my life. My husband was always busy trying to learn the ropes of being the lord of a castle even though for his entire life almost he was sworn to only ever be a knight of the Kingsguard. Jaime would only send him up if he had news for me or to have him check on the baby. “I have news today my lady and he wishes to know what the Maester said.”
“Please Maxon, call me Lynesse. It’s just easier for the both of us.” I corrected the now appointed knight seeing that Jaime and I trusted his word. He had actually helped in making a place for Joanna to sleep in one of the towers of the rock that had an open area underneath it.
Maxon nodded his head simply making his dark brown curls fall in front of his eyes. “Of course, Lady Lynesse.”
“Well I think it will be easier if we just go see him together instead of you running back and forth through the castle. So help me up please.” I groaned sitting up as much as I could manage.
Maxon quickly moved forward trying to fight me until I sent him a stern look. "My lord won't like that you are trying to move too much…uh nevermind." He wrapped his arms around my waist while I grabbed his forearm while I grabbed my cloak I shrugged it over my shoulders following him outside our chambers.
Moving through the hallways of Casterly Rock I could hear the waves crashing against it. I wasn't wearing my crown but my white hair was visible to everyone in these walls. A few staff passed us in the hallway before I pushed open a door seeing Jaime leaning over a large table that looked to be a battlefield. Closing the door behind me he lifted his gaze up from the table. "Lynesse, you should be in bed."
"I can't be bed ridden for long, Jaime. Maxon informed me that you have news about something so I thought I'd come to you." I explained walking around the table I took his left hand in mine meeting his green gaze on me.
He squeezed my hands in his wearing a loose white tunic and red trousers. I was wearing one of his red tunics with some trousers not bothering with dresses unless we were ever asked back at Kings Landing or somewhere else important. "My sister sent a letter demanding we help her take on the Dragon queen from across the sea. Somehow she discovered the truth about you and will send the Hound on us if we don't help her."
"We have control of the Lannister army. The only reason she needs us or really you is because she doesn't have the amount of Kingsguard to aid her." Leaning my hands on the table I could figure out what was really happening to us. Cersei was still jealous and even though she knew we were together until one of us died then she would have to take other measures. "I'm going with you. If she wants to fight against a dragon then I would ride Joanna and challenge her."
Jaime raised his hand concern written all over his face about me being anywhere near such danger like a battlefield. “Lynesse it is too reckless with you being pregnant to go riding into battle on dragon back. I want you to stay here with Maxon.”
“Jaime, I will not stay here and be a bump on a log. Yes I am pregnant but that doesn’t mean I can’t ride alongside you. Plus you know you can’t stop me once I call for Joanna!” I declare turning my hands into fists at my sides holding my head up high.
He sighed heavily looking in the direction of Maxon who was standing by the door. “Saddle Joanna for my wife. And ready the army for the ships to leave tonight. We head for Kings Landing.” He left the room leaving us alone in the room staring at each other.
“I want you to promise me something, little dragon. If it gets too risky you get our baby out of here. Promise me.” He begged me resting a hand on my cheek and his golden hand on my waist.
Nodding my head slowly I put my hand over his left knowing he was completely worried about me. He still hasn’t said I love you yet and neither have I but we were terrified that something may happen to the other. “I promise, Jaime. But it won’t come to that.” The trip back to the city was even harder since I got a lot sicker yet we had the army waiting in an open field waiting for whatever army this supposed dragon queen had with her.
Resting a hand over Joanna’s nose I watched my husband ride up on the white commander horse wearing dark golden armor. He had given me a set of gray armor but my growing belly didn’t make it easy to wear. My hair was loose with some of it braided back. I didn’t know war strategy even when Robb was still alive. “You know your signal is right. Remember to stick to what I told you.”
“Wait up on the hills out of sight unless we get signs of another dragon - ugh here we go girl.” I told him grunting as I climbed on Joanna’s back leaning against her head trying to catch my breath. “Jaime, come back to me…to us.”
He nodded, kicking the white horse in the belly. “Take care of her, Joanna.”
Kicking her in her side with my legs she launched herself up into the clouds turning around on her back then hiding us behind one of the tall hills still with a good view of the army. Squinting my eyes tightly I could see some form of people on horseback charging at the army. But they seemed crazier than the one we had knowing that we were in trouble. Resting a hand to my stomach I knew Jaime could handle them until a familiar shriek came from the skies making me curse under my breath. “Seven hells. There really is another Dragon.”
Joanna made a noise seeing the same creature I do. Shifting my gaze down to the ground I had Joanna shoot up into the sky seconds before the other Targaryen girl set them on fire. Flying through the clouds I saw our army had brought the giant crossbows. Men were screaming before I lifted my head up seeing the girl riding her dragon burning a section of wagons turning everything into a bloodbath underneath us. She nearly hit Jaime until I had my dragon bolt in her direction shouting in Valyrian. “Draycrays!”
The dragon girl swung her dragon out of the way avoiding my attack. She flew up higher seeing me and Joanna before she blew fire at us. Gripping her scales my dragon does a flip in a barrel roll just as I felt pain hit me in my back with the baby. Clutching my stomach I kicked her accidentally where she set fire to some of the lion soldiers. “Joanna no…Joanna…agh!” I gripped her tugging her in the opposite direction, getting her to land a few feet away seeing most of the stuff on fire.
“Lynesse, is it really you?” Wiping my head around I recognized the voice screaming and dragon shrieking fading off.
Joanna hissed low under her breath while I couldn’t believe to see the familiar dwarf near us. “Tyrion?”

Ch 24 - Rhaenyra’s Crown
Tumblr media
Part 25
Fire Of A Stark
@dragonixfrye
I, Corlys Velaryon, Lord of the Tides and Master of Driftmark, promise to be faithful to King Viserys and his named heir, the Princess Rhaenyra. I pledge fealty to them and shall defend them against all enemies in good faith and without deceit.
I, Lord Hobert Hightower, Beacon of the South, Defender of the Citadel, and Voice of Oldtown, promise to be faithful to King Viserys and his named heir, the Princess Rhaenyra.
I, Boremund Baratheon... promise to be faithful to King Viserys…
I, Rickon Stark, Lord of Winterfell. Warden of the North…
Reading over the documented coronation of the black queen they called her I was sitting on one of the beds inside the abandoned dragon castle. Footsteps came closer to the door before Jaime came inside, closing the door behind him. He walked over to the bed seeing my head buried in a book reminding him for a second like his brother because I didn't look up until he sat down making the bed dip at his weight. "I would have thought you had finished that book, little dragon."
"I found a whole library full of them that someone had transported here before the fall of the house. But this is the end of the one your brother gave me. I still have a bunch of pages of Vayarin to learn. But listen to this, I, Viserys Targaryen, first of his name... King of the Andals, and the Rhoynar, and the First Men, Lord of the Seven Kingdoms, and Protector of the Realm, do hereby name...Rhaenyra Targaryen Princess of Dragonstone and heir to the Iron Throne."
He leans back on his palms nodding his head at me. "If you think she wants you to become the queen then why aren't you wearing her crown?"
"Because no one can know my true blood except you." Lifting my gaze up from the pages I eyed the object across the room sitting on a dresser with a dusty mirror.
He placed his left hand over my right shifting my gaze to focus on my lord husband as he softly declared. "You don't have to hide anymore. I swore that to you back in King's Landing. The men that are following us to the rock are loyal to my house. They shall serve whatever command we give to them. So you can show your natural hair." He moved his hand up, threading his fingers through my brown hair.
"Jaime, it's sweet that you think that's an option but we - I can't possibly-" He cuts me off resting a hand to my cheek making me look him in the eye before he kisses me quickly.
"Stop worrying, Lynesse. No better yet fuck worry. Fuck anyone who wants to come after you because I will protect you. Targaryens may not rule anymore but you'll be my queen from this day until the end of our days." He rose to his feet striding over and picking up the golden crown coming back over to me. "I may not be a king and I am not very good at being a Lord. But I name you my queen Lynesse Targaryen-Lannister."
Sucking in a breath I could hardly believe it. Here I have been thinking that someday he would come to see that all Targaryen blood acted the same and that he would kill me but he doesn’t seem that way. He may not ever truly love me yet he trusts me enough to let me live by his side. “Jaime I…I’m not queen material.”
“You are to me, Lynesse.” He declared gently sitting the golden crown on top of my head pushing some of my hair down and took a step back. “You can be who you truly are around me.”
Rising to my feet I rushed forward flinging my arms around his neck where he stumbled a little wrapping his arms around my waist holding me close to his chest. Lifting my head up the crown actually doesn't fall off my head like I thought it might. "A white haired Targaryen might give a Lion some trouble. Can you handle that hmm?"
"This Lion will learn to handle dragon fire." He smirked tugging me closer making me giggle before I jumped up trying to wrap my arms around his waist but I felt a sharp pain in my back before I felt like I needed to throw up again. Holding my stomach I rushed towards the pot puking with my hair falling in front of my face.
Jaime came over, moving it out of the way, hearing me struggling to catch my breath after that. When I had thrown up in the weeks prior to this one we were sailing until we reached land so we both assumed it was sea sickness since I had never been outside of Winterfell until the king road North. But the fact that it was happening on land meant something else we just weren't sure yet. "Find me a Maester, Jaime…"
"I don't want to leave you here like this. Can you walk with me?" He was concerned about me while resting his golden hand on my back searching my eyes.
Sucking in a breath I croaked out intertwining my freehand with his right arm. "I'm alright…but something is definitely different."
Together Jaime and I slowly moved through the castle passing some of the guards that had been on the boat with us. We had decided that we would give the men a rest before we made the truck back towards Casterly Rock since there wasn’t any real good food or other supplies kept in this castle. From the looks of it no one had been here since the fall of the Mad King. Seeing as everyone in the world thinks the Targaryens are all gone. Finally we found the room that we had given to a Maester that had traveled with us. “Maester, my wife is still throwing up.” Jaime exclaimed, helping me sit down on the bed in front of the older man.
“Let’s have a look, my lady.” He replied, coming to stand in front of me. He placed his hands on my stomach looking me up and down before asking a question I should have been prepared for. “When was the last time you’ve bled. Lady Lannister?”
Stuttering out a response I couldn’t really remember when. Tyrion’s trial had kept my mind busy more than anything. “I can’t remember to be honest sir.”
“Well if you are having morning sickness like this and haven’t bled in the last few weeks we have been on this trip then I must congratulate you both my lord, my lady. You are pregnant.” He spoke shifting his gaze up from me then to Jaime. “I’ll give you two a few moments alone.”
Once he left my hands dropped to my stomach grinning ear to ear. My hair falling over my shoulders I turned my head in the direction of Jaime. I couldn’t imagine what was running through his head but it would be my first child. One that would be both Lannister and Targaryen blood. “Jaime, we’re going to have a child. Our first child. We’re going to have a child.”
Jaime was frozen in his own thoughts about what the old man had said moments ago. He never thought he would ever become lord of the rock and bear children. And even the ones he had conceived with Cersei were never truly his. “I’m going to be a father, Lynesse…I’m going to be a father.”
“You’re right I am done hiding, let's go show them their true Lady Lannister.” Rising to my feet I grabbed his forearm leading him back to our chambers. Bursting through the doors I softly removed Rhaenyra’s crown, getting my hair completely wet removing the brown dye that named me Stark. Coming back into our bedroom Jaime was seated on the edge of the bed holding the crown in his left hand locking eyes with me.
Running my hands through my hair even though it was still dripping wet you could see the white coming through much stronger than the dark color. Wearing one of my gray tunic shirts and red trousers with boots I walked over attaching my sword to my hip moving to stand in front of Jaime once again when he rose to his feet. He lifts the crown sitting it back on my head slowly dropping his hands at his sides before I blurted out the words I never thought I would. “Jaime, I don’t expect you to say it back but I think I am falling in love with you. Throughout everything we have been through you have never forced me to be something I am not. You have vowed to protect me and..I have no doubt that you will this child, our child. Just know that some part of me is falling in love with you.”
“You’re right I can’t say it yet but I’ll show you close to that, my dragon queen.” He tugged me into his chest, crashing his lips down onto mine deeply. I jumped up wrapping my legs around his waist as he held me up with his real and golden hand, never breaking the kiss. My hands found themselves in his short hair when he spun us around gently letting us fall back onto the bed. My hair sprawled out underneath me while I pushed him off removing the crown and my shirt sitting the object on the table. Jaime removed his shirt before I pulled him in for a long kiss that would lead to many more in the night to come.
