I was looking at some Jonnel x Sansa posts on here , and I came across one individual (probably an anti) who posted a screenshot of a grrm interview. He was asked about possible historical parallels from fire and blood to asoiaf and whether that is intentional and he said he doesn’t consciously do it. The tags of their post was something like “grrm: Jonnel who??” While I’m a little worried that grrm said that, the interviewer was specifically asking about fire and blood, not a family tree. And no matter what, I’m still very convinced the Jonnel x sansa addition was intentional, it must have been - Jonnel having a stark mother called Lynara , known as ‘one eye,’ a half brother called Rickon, married to the only other sansa stark ever who just so happened to be the heir to Winterfell with a younger sister . Their marriage solving the northern succession crisis. Not having children from this union, meaning grrm added it in merely to convey a jon married a sansa in canon. The last minute addition; revising the draft JUST to add it in…. It can’t be a coincidence !!! I mean, there’s even a rhaegar frey with a son called jonos… that’s all intentional in my opinion - but now that I saw that anti opinion, this one interview is what they seem to cling to lol. I went on a massive blocking spree so I’m not sure if this is wholly the case but seriously, the similarities are tooooo intense it’s impossible to ignore

Was there ever actually a Garden of Eden? Was there Adam and Eve or the flood? Noah and the flood. That’s a good one. That’s a great story. God was pissed off, he made it rain for 40 days and 40 nights. The entire world was flooded and everybody died, except for this guy Noah, who built a big boat and he got two of every animal on earth. I don’t know how the kangaroos got from down in Australia to the Middle East, but they did. 

See, anon? GRRM didn't say he doesn't do parallels, he said he does them unconsciously, that some things remain in his brain and some day just appear again and he unconsciously writes parallels, similarities, patterns, etc.

He also recognizes that certain similarities are inevitable.

Besides, from his answers, it is obvious that he has realized that he does parallels unconsciously, it is evident that he has reflected on it; but one thing he does consciously is to keep them 😉

Q: It is my impression that there are parallels between Westeros history and current events in ASOIAF. so in your opinion to what degree is George martin's history cyclical? Because we have a lot of parallels. For example with the current history and the dance of the dragons.

Elio: You know George even uses that line from talking about the the arms of house Toland, the dragon eating its tail, but it was from the Archmaester Rigney which is a reference to Robert Jordan the writer of the wheel of time, that history is a wheel or time as a circle. I think George certainly deliberately sees, creates parallels. I mean this is a very obvious example, you know if you read The World of Ice and Fire, you saw the family tree of the Targaryens, and the family tree for Jaehaerys and his offspring changes quite a lot when fire and blood comes out. Because George realized that he wanted to create a kind of parallel by introducing another Daenerys. and he said like, i like the symmetry of it, I like the the sort of the way. You could perhaps read it as reflecting on Daenerys's story, maybe. I wish it was true. I mean I think fans of Daenerys need to be really worried about what's going to happen to her. Although I guess Game of Thrones maybe has revealed kind of where things may possibly end. Again the journey is going to be very different. I think you know circumstances, things are going to be very different. So there's a journey that matters. But in any case, so yes I think George uses cycles and things a bit. He likes setting up parallels of events, he likes paralleling characters, he likes paralleling events, and he likes paralleling the past and the present as well.

Linda: I think certainly that when he fleshed out the details of Fire and Blood, even when he first did the sidebars for The World of Ice and Fire, and they just grew. We could see that, okay here he's looking at foreshadowing or commenting on current events by doing a similar scenario in the past and he definitely likes to play around with those aspects.

A small summary of Freyr…or, Frey, Yngvi-Freyr and many other names.

He is a Norse god who was heavily worshipped as a fertility god, as well as a god of good weather good harvest and kingship.

Freyr and his twin sister Freya along with their Father Njörðr were originally from the group of gods that rivaled the Æsir called the Vanir.

Not much is told about their time with the Vanir though, their story mainly starts with them moving to Asgard as a deal made between the two rivaling groups of gods.

Freyr has a wife, a giantess named Gerd who he cares for deeply.

He is a fierce protector of women and it is even said that when he is around weapons literally won’t work on women. Swords would break against their skin.

He is also the ruler of Alfheim land of the elves.

Freyr is mentioned in the Prose Edda and Poetic Edda multiple times.

My personal experience with him:

I was searching for a deity to reach out to after Skadi left and she’d given me a message to work with a deity who had a warmer energy. I think she already had Freyr in mind.

He really has been a warm energy. He feels like laying down in tall grass and making flower crowns with friends while you braid each others hair. He also feels like the hot sweat of a hard day of work, and feeling happy after you’ve done something you’re proud of.

He’s helped me with a lot of my struggles as a transgender man. I worry often about the features of me that are still “too feminine” and he has been there for me and helped teach me the ways to embrace the feminine sides of me. He’s such a positive influence and he shows up some of the most often in my meditations.

All in all I think Freyr is a fantastic deity to have around. His energy is warm and so is he. I’m sure he can be very serious at times as well when he needs to be. But in my experience I’ve just felt only comfort when I go to him. Him and Thor are like the sunshine boys of my personal pantheon.

If you feel like he’s reaching out to you it could come just from having an interest in him that you can’t shake, or seeing things associated to him often. If you feel like he’s for you, reach out to him through your preferred divination method or clairsense to confirm and see if he truly is wanting to work together. Or just set up a little altar for him and have a place in your practice for worshiping him if that feels more correct for you 💛

As I was traversing New York back to Frey's place, I noticed an interesting NPC interaction with Frey, and it made me want to come up with a short fic. This is the result!

Frey couldn't help but notice the brown-haired woman in the grey turtleneck and winter parka staring at her as she walked by.

Even though it was a freezing cold day and she wanted to get home, she decided to turn around and see if, just out of morbid curiosity, the woman would talk to her or if she was just staring because, well, black street girl.

Then again, maybe the allegedly ubiquitous "Christmas spirit" might make the interaction go more smoothly. It had gotten her a serious reprieve from Judge Bird.

"So, uh, hey." The words didn't exactly roll smoothly off Frey's tongue.

The other woman frowned. She didn't back away, though, which was something. "Hi," she said. Frey took a moment to eye her jawline, and noted with appreciation the complicated braided ponytail she could partly see at the back of her head. And she had hazel eyes, if Frey judged correctly.

Frey looked up and saw that she was standing in front of a record store. "Any good records in there?" As pick-up lines go, that sucked.

That forced a chuckle from the other woman. "Not really. My grandpa still has one of those old record players and I was hoping to get him a Frank Sinatra album. Cheapest one is, like, thirty bucks, though. Gotta pay the 'vintage premium' according to the guy at the counter. So much for having a sale on!"

"I usually just watch music videos on YouTube with my phone when I can get Wi-Fi," Frey replied. With an effort at a change of subject, she asked, "Waiting for someone?"

She winced internally and mentally set a new low bar for how bad her pick-up lines could get.

Luckily, the other woman didn't seem fazed and just shrugged. "Wanted to stand outside for a bit. The surge pricing's insane right now so I'll wait till things calm down a bit."

"You're braver than me. I wanna get home and warm up as soon as I can!"

"So... I'm the only reason you're delaying your return, hmm?"

Frey could feel the heat rising just a bit in her face, and if that wasn't enough, the other woman fucking winked at her.

"Busted," Frey muttered. "But I did see you staring at me, so I kinda, well..."

"You usually go around picking up strange women on the street, then?" She grinned. "I'm Amelia." She stuck out her hand and said, "You're...?"

Frey hurriedly extended her hand. "Frey." As she clasped Amelia's hand, she couldn't help but feel a slight shiver up her spine at the warmth of her smooth hand.

Amelia released her hand and let hers drop to her side. "Frey. I like that. Unusual name. So what do you like doing in your spare time?"

Be a street kid and steal shit for a living so I can save up enough and get the hell out of this damn city.

"Well, I've got a cat, so between her, games on my phone, and walking everywhere I go that's kinda what I do when I'm not, um... freelancing."

Amelia gasped. "A cat?! Please tell me you have a picture!"

Frey held her phone out to Amelia. "That's Homer on my lock screen."

"She's adorable. So fluffy!" Amelia smiled widely at Frey. "I like you more and more, Frey."

Flipping it back around, because she really didn't want to accidentally let slip she just got out of court, she said, "So, Amelia. What do you do in your spare time, besides browse record stores?"

Amelia chuckled. "I'm kind of a bit of a nerd, honestly. I play some tabletop games - D&D, that kind of stuff."

Vaguely remembering a club she'd been in back in high school, Frey nodded. "Uh, which rules are you using?"

"We were using fourth, but when the new ones came out we tried out the Lost Mine of Phandelver and it was pretty cool, so we switched."

Frey frowned. "We...?"

Amelia waved that off. "Oh, just me and a couple of friends from college; I'm majoring in business, so doing this stuff is a good way to blow off steam."

Frey smiled. "Must be nice, being in college."

"It's not for everyone," mused Amelia. "My brother's actually going into trades because everybody and their dog needs a plumber, but me, I wanna be owning the plumbing repair shop." She reached out and touched Frey's arm briefly. "So what kinda freelancing do you do?"

Think, think, think!

"Uh, just kinda... a bit of everything. I know a little bit about cars, so my last job was helping fix a guy's ignition," Frey babbled.

And if by 'fixing the ignition', I mean attempting to hot-wire the car, that's technically sorta true. I just didn't do it with the owner's permission.

Amelia lifted her eyebrows in surprise. "Interesting. More variety than my life, anyway."

The wind shifted and a sudden chill went through Frey. "Shit, it's getting colder. I really gotta--my cat." She gestured vaguely in the direction she'd been walking.

"Oh, yeah! Sorry about that." Amelia dug in her pockets and then coming up empty, said, "Uh, you mind giving me your phone for a second?"

Reluctantly, Frey handed it over. Without that phone, she was completely adrift; she bit her lip as Amelia tapped away in the Contacts section.

Relief flooded her as Amelia handed it back and winked again. "My number's in there. Give me a call sometime and I'll buy you a coffee."

Frey lifted her eyebrow. "Are you asking me out already?"

Amelia's face went red and she ducked her head for a moment before looking Frey in the eye. "What can I say? You're growing on me. And you are pretty cute."

It was now Frey's turn to blush, and she mumbled, "Guess you're pretty good-looking too."

"Seeya, Frey...?"

"Holland." She looked at her phone. "Amelia ... Evans, I take it?"

She nodded. "That's me. See you around."

Frey sketched a short 'goodbye' wave and said, "Guess maybe I will."

Amelia waved back. "Hopefully soon!"

Frey turned and began walking down the street, but a smile kept tugging at her face. Maybe this Christmas - and my birthday - won't suck for once.

HI! SO GLAD THIS QUESTION WAS FINALLY ASKED!

The story was so different when it first started, so these answers have changed throughout its development. But thank you so much for asking 💞 (Keep in mind that I don't know that much about D&D, especially subclasses lol)

I know Frey is technically not a RO but Frey has actually had the most development in this department. They were going to be a WARLOCK! Which is crazy to think about now. I'm not going to tell you what race they were since that might delve into spoilers. And alignment is just chaotic good - truly I cannot see them being anything else.

Pachypoda is the one that has probably stayed the most true to the original. They're a druid, but like "dark" druid. I'm really terrible at explaining. They were also a Drow, which was my inspiration for the Nights race. Regarding alignment they're neutral good.

Astro/a is still this, but I was indecisive about them. Which is why in the story they are a ex-bard and ex-monk. Because that's the two classes I was indecisive about for them. Although I believe there is a bard monk class somewhere. Regarding race, they were going to be human. And as always alignment is chaotic neutral.

I can't go into much details for the Secret LIs cause I think that would mostly reveal who they are. So all I'll say is that Secret LI1 was going to be a really antagonist character in the original story, with lawful evil alignment (which I don't think suits them anymore). And Secret LI2 was never in the original plans, but I'd say they are true neutral.

Finally, Hero was originally a paladin of sorts, but considering there is so much that you can change for them now, any class would suit them. Race is also mildly spoilers, so I won't go into it, and alignment was originally chaotic neutral, which goes to show how much of a blank slate Hero was at the beginning of my planning.

BUT IMAGINE modern human au revalink as dancers.. since I'm a hip hop dancer idc I'll hc them both as hip hop dancers but link can do a little contemporary too, as a treat 🤭 . they would totally be rivals at first like trying to outdo each other during freestyle sessions, revali learned breakdancing just so he could do more fancy moves. link would specialize more in isolation movements esp popping and tutting and locking, he has a crazy amount of control over his movements. they're secretly impressed by each other but ofc they don't say anything because then everyone will know they're gay for each other!! and they can never let that happen 😦 but then ofc they get assigned to do a duo together and eventually they learn to work together and then they place first at competition bc they have so much chemistry together and they're so in sync and then they fall in love with each other and get together YESSS 🫶🫶🫶

revalink being impressed by each other's dancing is so gay. they totally binge-watch each other's covers complimenting the way the other moves, to which zelda and urbosa must bear extremely disinterested witness to. the virgin revali asking urbosa to take a video of link's dancing when link is leading his isolations workshop vs the chad link actually straight up showing up to revali's workshops and full-on staring at revali as he's demonstrating the moves

thinking about revali and link running their competition set in the practice room by themselves and it's really late at night, they've been at it for hours so they're both fucking exhausted... i'm imagining them doing something like taekook's part in the DNA choreography and maybe link trips over his own feet because he's tired and revali immediately moves to try to stop link from falling over, but they both end up falling to the floor with link on top of revali 😳 and they're staring at each other staying like that for several seconds, breathing deeply, with revali's hands somehow on link's waist and their lips are so close to touching and— 😊👉👈

when they win the competition, link gets so excited he yells and jumps into revali's arms, who instinctively holds link up firmly as link cheers. revali watches and he realizes how pretty link is, in the glow of victory with his flushed pink cheeks and wide smile. huh. he's always agreed that yes, link was conventionally attractive, but... revali's never felt like this looking at him before. dimly, revali thinks, can we hold onto this feeling for a bit longer?

could you imagine if revalink were like dance youtubers or something, and link did something like hobi's hope on the street livestreams and revali "hate"-watching it but he forgets to make a burner so people see his username in the viewer list and they're like REVALI WATCHING HIS RIVAL'S LIVESTREAM? and it just causes so much drama between their respective fanbases LMAO

Ingela

Backstory: The one who started it all! We adopted her when she was 1 year old from a now-closed rescue called The Gecko Sanctuary. I wasn't looking for a gecko, I was actually turtle hunting on the adoption wavelengths! But I saw her eyes and just...she broke me lol. I researched until I was confident, reached out to the rescue, and here we are several years later! Lost about 1.5 feet to horrible stuck shed from her previous life [has half of her front right foot still]

Likes: Water, worships anything water related like a god. Women, very devout liz-bean. Watches screens the most out of everyone. Loves to watch video games played by anyone, however Markiplier is her favorite youtuber.

Dislikes: Being told she can't go somewhere, her multivitamins, being woken up from her holy slumber

Hero

Backstory: Rescued from an extreme reptile hoarding situation in Georgia, this lil man was shipped all the way to my neck of the woods along with his former "roommates" by the lovely HerpHaven Reptile Rescue. We adopted him after falling for his scrunkliness, and he's surprised us everyday.

Likes: Warm hands, especially my partner's. Actually just really loves my partner. Big talker too, the most vocal lil kaiju! Loves to stare at people with intense love in his eyes.

Dislikes: Having to get help for his bodily functions that he otherwise could not accomplish. Will piss and shit and cry about it.

Nola

Backstory: I was given a crazy job opportunity at my local school district to care for their animals within their science program. It's been a blast and a half, but starting out I got so worried sick about this lil girl. She was older and did not have the best care over her life, and grew ill. The person in my position before me did their best attempts at care, but ultimately she was left blind and with a little wobble after I stepped in and got her recovered enough. Due to this, she graduated from the program and we happily welcomed her with open arms to our funky family.

Likes: Tight spaces, the smaller the better! Anything she can fit in her mouth as well. Will sit and just listen to anything, great lil therapist. Loves sleeping anywhere cause everywhere is dark and safe in her eyes! Very loving and calm.

Dislikes: Being held, currently a slippery lil bean.

Noah’s P.O.V.

It’s been about two weeks since anyone has heard from Freya to be honest both Nick and I both are on edge. I know enough from talking to her she can end up drinking. I can’t blame her for wanting to numb the pain, but if she goes down that route Nick will end up broken. She means the world to him just the way he smiles when she is around says it all. I go to the party where I suspect Freya will be I don’t tell Nick for fear of a huge fight. It takes me five minutes to find her drinking like crazy I grab her arm dragging her away from the party to fresh air.

“What has gotten into you Frey this isn’t you, and don’t snap back with your remarks.” I stare into her eyes seeing her so broken makes me just pull her into a hug.

“How do I pick up the pieces Noah? I have no family here except for a horrible father. I want to go back home. I can’t stay, but I can’t leave. Not yet.”

“Let’s get you sobered up Sparky”

We both back up from the embrace too see Nick standing there. I was waiting for a blowout fight. Instead, his eyes light up, I looked at Frey and she looked at me.

We take her back to her place know her Dad won’t be home for 10 days due to public intoxication. She walks to the shower taking a long one and coming out in short shorts and a Sleep Token Hoodie.

“I know I’m drunk, but you got a bargaining chip. So out with-it Nikki”

“We’ll talk when you sober up Sparky.”

“Hmm... I’d argue but the fact my head is spinning mean I reached my limit.” A laugh came from both us shaking our heads at her statement.

“Who knew Nick, Freya’s limit is a 2-week binge.” I bump his shoulder she grabs a few blankets and pillows.

“You two can crash in my room if you want and I’ll take the couch.”

Her eyes are soft and tired I watch as Nick walks over to her and holds her so close before he pulls away kissing her forehead.

“I’m good on the couch have Nick sleep with you might need it.”

He nods and goes to her room leaving Freya n I.

“If you are in love with him Noah, I won’t take him.”

“He is my best friend Frey not my lover I can’t love him like you. Just don’t take him away like many other girls do.”

“I promise Noah I won’t.”

“Freya why can’t you leave?”

“Will you keep a secret?”

I'm being so very, very normal about the In Tanta We Trust gameplay trailer, I have absolutely not watched it three dozen times and counting, and I'm most certainly not about to do a long, rambly, I'm-on-my-period-and-my-brain-is-mush gush about it under the cut. SO to start off let's look at the description on YouTube, it brings me QUESTIONS

Like, guys, we know who they're fighting, they're fighting the Rheddig invaders before/during the Purge of the Rheddig, you've told us this before in previous trailer drops (edit: that I might have made up because I can't find any previous trailers??? memory wut r u doin) and the press release, so why are you being cryptic about this?

Well, the only lines of dialogue in this trailer is Frey and a mysterious person. Frey asks, "The Gloaming, what does it do?" and the mysterious voice who is decidedly not Cuff answers with, "It destroys Athia, of course." But... but that's Susurrus's job, right? Shouldn't Frey already know what's going down, know what's going to happen, and have a certain wrist idiot making noises while she tries to stop it? Is "The Gloaming" what the Rheddig calls Sus? If so that's badass and I love it, but if not, why are there no records about it in the main game? The continued lack of my sassy asshole best buddy in these trailers makes my heart do not so fun things, because I so desperately want him to go with Frey, fight back against the Rheddig and, ultimately, help her face down the Susurrus that existed before he loved knew her. Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled for whatever I do get, I just hope nothing bad happened to Cuff and he's still there to be a snarky little fuck in Frey's general direction when all is said and done.

("Gloaming," btw, is twilight or dusk, it's when the day fades and night begins. I'm very much in love with this name and my Kingdom Hearts-saturated soul is going bananas right about now).

MOVING ON, we've got the new set of magic:

Sorry if the picture quality is crap, YouTube isn't playing nice with my iPad and I don't have a desktop computer that can handle my bullshit. ANYWAY! Looks an awful lot like Cuff's magic, doesn't it? I've seen speculation on the Forspoken subreddit that this is "yellow" magic, or, more specifically, Rheddig magic. Which makes sense, because it's almost identical to the magic that Cuff wields to protect Frey and deliver his killing blows. And in the fights against Susurrus, he has all that plus big giant laser beams of death, because of course he does. Frey has additional powers that Sus didn't though, like that big-ass sword that she uses to cut spacetime and summon a black hole at 0:36-0:42. Yes, look, I know that gravity spells are a staple of Square Enix fantasy RPGs, but I'm allowed to still be excited about them and think they're cool, okay?!

That said... what happened to the rest of Frey's magic? Do we still have access to Sila, Prav, and Olas's spells? We know we can still zip, but here's the thing:

That's not Sila's Zip spell. Moreover, Frey's using her left hand to cast it, not her right, which is where her magic usually comes from. So, what gives? Why doesn't Frey have full use of her magic, even though she went through that whole thing with Cinta's memories to unlock it? Did Cuff somehow integrate with Frey's magic and fundamentally change it to Rheddig magic only? Well, no, because Frey still chucks rocks in the trailer, so it seems likely he somehow gave her new magic. But the other Tanta's magics being conspicuously missing is very, very interesting to me.

Speaking of other Tantas and their magic, now we're getting on to what I really want to talk about:

MOTHER.

FUCKING.

TANTA CINTA.

What, did you think I was excited about the Rheddig war party? I am but that's a squee and a gush for later.

Cinta's magic is nothing like Frey's except purple and elegantly geometric, and I am fascinated by this. So far as I'm concerned, the fact that Frey and Cinta's magic manifests so differently confirms my headcanon/theory that Frey's magic is all hers, baby, not Cinta's. First of all, that saber is gorgeous and I want a replica of it to hang on my walls when I have a house I'm planning to stay in permanently. Second and more importantly, Cinta's magic seems to be based almost entirely around the Torana. There's nary a rock or vine or flower in sight, except as motifs in her armor or that one (1) scatter-shot spell we see her fling at 0:49. In fact, the only commonality their magics have are the effects around Frey's spells, and the same effect when Frey uses Flow and its offshoot magics, Leap and Shimmy. Cinta has integrated the Torana with her combat style (which looks like a fencing style that makes me wish I knew more about martial arts) and even using that ability to yeet Frey up the side of a mountain. As any good mom should do, lbr. Yeet your kids, it's good for them. But she doesn't use vines like Bind or Tendril, there's no other plant-based spells like Disperse, and we don't see obvious earth-based magic like Prime or Screen. It's all kind of... crystalline, almost? So that scatter-shot could be crystal bullets rather than rocks or seeds.

And let me tell you, as someone who made up a whole Final Fantasy-esque class based around crystal magic for an RP that shaped my life and who I am as a person, I am LOSING. MY GODDAMN. SHIT. Square keeps catering to me specifically and it needs to stop because my wallet can only get so empty.
