I eat #freeganfood all the time, not just when I'm doing challenges like #FreeganFebruary 😁 this sexy sandwich was my lunch today and it was rescued from being thrown out. People often ask why I'm eating the free food instead of giving it to charity. That's a long answer (I cover some of it in my blog about @olio.app ) but one of the reasons is that many charities actually get more food than they can handle some days! This sandwich, for example, was a leftover school lunch, donated to a charity. It passed its use-by date at midnight that night - so it couldn't be given out any more - and was being thrown away when Adam grabbed a dozen of them. We shoved them in the freezer, and we've been making our way through them since then! Embrace free food and avoid food waste - wherever it comes from! I love potatoes. 🥔 For some reason, they are one of the most common fresh produce items that I find in dumpsters and on @olio.app 😮 usually it is because they are in plastic bags with an expiry date on them 🤦🏾‍♀️ so even if they are absolutely fine, they get chucked on that date. This is one of the many issues with plastic bagging fresh fruit and veggies. here are some of my recent #potato meals that I've made with my many #rescuedfood potatoes! 🥔 Stuffed baked potatoes 🥔 Spanish omelette/ frittata 🥔 Breakfast hash Also plenty of sides of mash, chips, and wedges. Cake for breakfast 🎂 😍 plus fruit and black coffee ☕ that's basically a balanced meal, right?
