19. Side note: not to brag, but I do feel smug about being right about Jeanette even though it was just on the general vibe and not the exact circumstance. And Jeanette is still such a shitty person because she really did know about Kate and could’ve saved her, but purposely didn’t. And that smile proves that Jeanette really did want to replace Kate and take her life.

100% agree that there are a lot of people trying to speak on kate’s situation that don’t know how grooming works, or trauma/abuse/ptsd for that matter. regardless of anything else, kate is a victim in everything. she had so many people in her life she looked up to and trusted, tried so hard to connect with them, to give and receive support, and they continuously shut her down. she was left completely alone, and that in and of itself is enough that i’m on her side for just about anything. that is trauma, that is something that alone would have completely damaged her for years to come. and then harris tacked onto that, the one final person who let her feel she could trust her, turned it completely around on her. and it was so, so careful and deliberate; he used all that neglect to his advantage. at the start of the series, seeing how kind kate was to jeanette, how friendly and open and welcoming — she had so much in her heart, and you see all of that ripped away by 94/95. i’m terrified for the moment she finds ashley is the one who’s been messaging her, because that’s now one of the very few people she feels she can trust at all, esp with the worst thing to have ever happened to her — it’s not going to be seen as ashley being a concerned/caring sister. it’s a breach of her privacy, and someone who doesn’t respect her. (and if something comes out with mallory ... i don’t know how kate’ll weather that.) sorry i have a lot of feelings for kate and all she’s going through, and everything she still has yet to go through. no matter what comes out about her story, what she hasn’t been completely honest about, she’s still just a victim, in every aspect of her life. not one part of this was her fault.

2. This Jaime side plot has been kind of random. Not bad, just a little forced and unnecessary?

3. “I thought I had found someone like me” is this setting up Annabelle as another survivor?

4. Also just found out that it was renewed for a second series but it could be an anthology series? I really hope it isn’t an anthology. Plus it would mean that every season has to centre around summer

5. If there was a shootout, why isn’t there more damage to his house?

6. Why isn’t someone there with Kate? I hope someone is waiting outside in case going back triggers something

Cruel Summer Break #1

1. I wish they had elaborated more on how Jeanette was “the most hated woman in America”

3. I think it’s interesting that at the trial, Jeanette looks angry while Kate looks like a ghost
