Hi, Riss! Regarding your meta about 11x11 from a couple months ago. You specifically mention not surrendering the “sweet lover mouth” HoS moment for anything in regards to breaking the fourth wall and those breaks indicating something about their relationship. I personally absolutely love that moment and it sounds like you have Thoughts™️ on it and I’m curious what they are, if you don’t mind sharing. Thanks!

Ha! Sure. They aren't very deep.

The first bit is just, like... There's this thing going on in the first half of season 11 where they make sure that we know Ian and Mickey are having all the sex, to the degree that you wonder if this is being written by literal 13 year olds and none of it is sexy or fun because instead your brain is trying to figure out exactly HOW Mickey's body is even coping with all the blowjobs -- Like, I'm sorry, HOW many? In what timeframe? How is he producing anything other than dust right now? What the fuck is going on?

So you wonder what the show is up to on that front because it's like I'm being asked to respond with "Oh, squee, they're so in love!" or uproarious laughter, and instead I'm reacting like I've just been handed a very complicated math problem.

And. Not to be all prim, but for me *personally*, if you want some attention of any kind from me, you are best off not calling me a c** dumpster.

So yeah. Here we are, having survived the more hair-raising moments in that particularly HoS episode and all the Gallavich-related sex cringe and then we get the outtakes which is like "How about this, but worse?" and like...

I try to be exceedingly fair to the writers and and give miles of benefit of the doubt because I don't know them or their hearts. But. I do think it's fair to say that I do not share a sense of humour with Nancy Pimental. So I don't really get why this outtake exists. It vaguely reminds me of how Megan Amram posted the puns she came up with for Good Place restaurants after episode 2x02 aired. But here we get a dozen ways to say the same thing, but a lot of them I'd heard before and for me to find them funny I'd have to also find them clever. The euphemisms just on their own do nothing for me. The actual outtakes have some charm because it's clear that Noel and Cam are sliding in and out of the performance through the whole thing and being thrown things on the fly a bit, where they have to keep clarifying or the words are twisting a bit on them. Some moments are clearly performance and some moments are clearly them talking about the performance. Sometimes it's Ian and Mickey, sometimes it's Noel and Cam. And then we get the "shaft lashing" line and, in a moment that appears to be improv (but might have been scripted or directed), Mickey's response is sweet instead of crass, and they kiss.

And it's honestly the most tender moment we'd had between them since the wedding.

This might not hit so hard if we'd had the camo kiss, but as we hadn't, it becomes one of the very few fond and loving moments in the first half of season 11. And it's an outtake on a clip show, which is... weird. Like it's a stretch to say that's canon.

But I like it. So it is.

1. why did you choose your url?

Gallavicious was sadly and unsurprsingly taken, but this name is in the same vein – and I created the blog post the season 10 wedding, so it seemed appropriate to have something reflective of our boys triumphing against all odds. XD

2. any side blogs?

This IS the side blog. My main, keeloca, started as a Sherlock blog but these days... I don't know what it is these days. A two-posts-a-week multifandom mess, mostly.

3. how long have you been on tumblr?

2012, baby! I haven't always been very active, but I always come crawling back whenever I fall into a new fandom.

4. do you have a queue tag?

No tag, no queue. Tried it once, did NOT like it. Posting with careless abandon and total disregard for time zones is more of my jam.

5. why did you start your blog?

Crime of opportunity, really. Normally, I'd just let my main be the site of my new fancy but back then I was quarantining and only working two hours a day from home, so... time + understimulation + renewed love of Shameless = blog.

6. why did you choose your pfp?

Wanted something with them together that not a lot of other people have, and I love their looks for the season 7 roadtrip (once Mickey's taken off wig/gotten a haircut). Been thinking of switching it out, though, but haven't had the time or energy.

I don't know. Some shit post, probably? Maybe one with Brad and Lip and Mickey as brothers-in-lawelessness (which I can't even find now)?

Out of the Shameless blogs I follow, I think 21 or 22? Unless some of you have unfollowed me. In which case, ABSURD decision, but you do you. (I jest. I fully support you in curating your Tumblr experience and I still love you. <3)

2315 on this blog. Until I reached about 1800 I was VERY careful and somewhat over-zealous about weeding out porn blogs and bots and whatever, and blocked about 2/3 of those who tried to follow me. I think I might have accidentally have blocked a few real blogs... 😬 (I've only ever blocked ONE real blog on purpose; anyone else is unfortunate collateral damage.) Then I just couldn't be bothered anymore. Come all ye weird blogs; you shall not be turned away.

193. Of those about 25 are Shameless blogs.

Sure.

It varies greatly. Due to family stuff I've been on a lot less since the show ended; my brain just needed a rest. When on a Tumblr high I'll check it constantly, though.

14. did you have a fight/argument with another blog once?

I've had a couple of anonymous asks I've resonded to with... restrained annoyance?... but other than that not as far as I know? I'm not a kind person by nature, but I very much believe in practising kindness all the same, so I try for that. That said, my favourite thing in fandom is having discussions about the text so I am always ALL FOR polite arguments about various interpretations of it.

15. how do you feel about “you need to reblog this” posts?

They annoy me but Tumblr is a shared space and people aren't here to cater to my personal taste.

16. do you like tag games?

In moderation, certainly! I probably wouldn't be best impressed if it was all over my dash all of the time, but I enjoy reading other people's answers and always get stupidly excited when tagged. It's a two-edged sword, though; I can be a little bit useless at getting round to filling them in and then I feel bad.

17. do you like ask games?

Again, in moderation. I don't tend to reblog them in spite of loving asks, but that's mostly because the above-mentioned uselessness – I don't want to invite people to ask me stuff and then let them down by taking forever to get back to them. *glances guiltily at the asks from the past two months that have yet to recieve a proper response*

The very idea of answering this makes me nervous, so I shan't.

1. Why did you choose your url?

it’s named after two of my favourite characters from DRUCK – matteo and amira. i’m a creature of habit and i tend to stick with one url for years – i didn’t change my last url for a good 7 years. i am, however, looking to change it to something shameless related. if anyone has any suggestions, my inbox is open!

too many. if i get really into something but don’t want to disturb things here, i’ll make a side blog for it. most significantly though i have my fic writing sideblog: oforamuse (even if i haven’t managed to complete anything in 6 months...).

10 years (?!?!?!?!?) this september.

i was 13 and needed somewhere to talk about all things glee, starkid, klaine and harry potter. i was active in twitter fandom at the time and someone told me to try out tumblr too. here we are 10 years later on the same blog.

i love this moment and mickey’s face in it. they’re just so happy to be together. i never put too much thought into my icon, just that it makes me happy when i look at it. i might change it though.

enough? i don’t think i use it too much, if that makes sense. i like our little community so it’s fun to drop in every couple of hours and see what’s going on and what we’re spiralling about today. it’s a much nicer energy than on twitter, so i do enjoy being on here and interacting, but i definitely don’t think i’m on here in excess.

lol if responding to an entire blog post made about me and my twitter account accusing me of all sorts of things and dragging my name through the mud completely unprompted counts, then yes.

Crocs: I never got into the shoe, I don’t think I’d like it very much but I don’t judge people for wearing them.  They’re really popular with nurses around here.  The animals: yes please from a distance.  Beautiful but stay away please.

Funny crocodile story 1: As a kid, on vacation in georgia, I almost rode my bike into a crocodile-infested pond.  My dad was amused and picked up a baby one for a picture, my mom freaked out and I only got to ride tandem with my dad from then until I was a teenager. Edit: I have just reminded myself that this was an alligator.  For shame, me, for shame.

Funny crocodile story 2: I had no idea they were unusual in other places, so I thought it was hilarious when I went to a super cool reptile house in a little German town and their main attraction was an “American crocodile”.

Music from the 90s: YES PLEASE!!!  Hits me right in the childhood.😭  So much great stuff.

Thunder storms: the best lullaby ever created.  Also the worst thing to happen when I’m working and have to stay awake and be productive.

Fic Writer Interview

Name: I go by Arrow online

Fandoms: I’ve only posted for Shameless so far, but I read for so many.  Harry Potter, Good Omens, BBC Sherlock, Yuuri on Ice, all sorts of random stuff.

Two-shot: of what?  Pain and suffering?  If you mean a fic, I don’t think I technically have any right now, though I have done a few sort-of sequels for speedwrites when asked, including the one I shared today.

Most popular multi-chapter: Well I only have the one right now (though that’s about to heavily multiply very very soon, since I have no self control) so Meet the Neighbors.

Actual worst part of writing: Making yourself pretend that it’s done and ready to share, because it never, never is.  But also sitting down to start.

How do you choose your titles: No specific process.  I just like words that sound nice together.  

Do you outline: Only very vaguely.  Like, I might jot down the bare bones, but I try to leave things pretty open.  Otherwise I get stuck trying to hit specific points.

Ideas I probably won’t get around to but wouldn’t it be nice: My vast array of fairy-tale inspired AUs.  I currently have documents started for 9(!) of them with just titles and a rough idea of like one scene each.  The Cinderella one is especially intimidating, with lots of twists to the normal story and a full cast of characters.  I’m letting that one simmer because I’m not sure how to handle all the moving pieces but don’t want to use too many POVs.

Callouts @ me: Ignoring proper usage and grammar for purely stylistic reasons.  If I like the way it sounds in my head, the rules don’t matter.  See also: excessive use of em dashes and/or semicolons, intentional comma splices etcetera for effect depending on POV, starting sentences with conjunctions and prepositions.

Best writing traits: I don’t know, I’m bad at saying nice things about myself.😅  Outside of fanfic my strength is definitely in description and atmosphere, but most of my fics so far are much more character- and interaction-focused and that seems to be going over well.  I think it’s really interesting that my strengths might change depending on genre.  For example, I’ve been writing a lot of dialogue in fics and that’s normally something I really struggle with.

Spicy tangential opinion: Not necessarily spicy, but I think the best way to get better at writing isn’t just to keep doing it--though of course that helps, especially in developing your style--it’s to read more.  The more you read, the more you’ll unconsciously make decisions to improve flow, word choice, etc.

1. Why did you choose your url?

I apparently made this a while back and never used it, so it's just my standard online name. Arrow is something I picked for an amazing class in undergrad where we made up our "storytelling" names, and I don't remember the why of the rest.

Little over a month? But I was stalking a few rec blogs before that.

Nope again. I don't use that option much yet.

5. Why did you start your blog?

To share writing less formally--AO3 is a bit more intimidating and I'm really liking the low pressure feel here. And to interact with all of you!

I started with my quill and hourglass for speedwriting, but switched when I attempted fanart since all I've been posting is gallavich.

7. Why did you choose your header?

It doesn't show on my page anymore, but it's just a pic of my quill collection because I write and think they're pretty.

Drunken Shenanigans PT 1 which I just revamped on AO3.

I don’t know how to find this out!  But I also try not to look too close because if someone doesn’t follow me I’ll feel weird about interacting with them (yay anxiety!)

Enough that I feel the love, not so many that I have imposter syndrome.  I like to think it’s respectable for the short time I’ve been here.
