Fr the pad/tampon economy in school was always so bizarre. Kids periods are usually really irregular up into their teens so somebody was always having a sudden tampon emergency and shaking everyone down for any period product they could get. And the school nurse was so judgmental and bitchy when you asked for one and she only stocked the shittiest, cheapest, thickest pads that felt like steel wool on your puss. There was always one really good teacher that gave out free pads and the good ones but she was always the teacher that left halfway through the year. LMFAO.

This reminds me of when I used to always keep a couple pads in a pencil case with my sharpies (I doodled on my bag), then I was picked out by a drug dog at school during English. They brought me to the strictest VP in the joint (it wasn’t even my VP!), the one you could hear all the kids grumbling about, and he was going through my bag with me.

I was nervous because anxiety is irrational even when I know I’ve done nothing bad and he opened that pencil case to find menstrual pads and I could see his face go ‘oh shit’ in real time. Y’all, I could read the embarrassment on this guy’s face and my anxiety dipped out with a ‘what are you embarrassed for? You’re literally a grown ass man 🙄’. Guy leaves and a lady comes back to finish looking through my bag.

I got chastised for the sharpies in the end but I could tell it was more halfhearted on her end.
