While I'm happy to see Gorillaz returned with their weirdly wild music. I do think they could've ended their career on Plastic Beach. Yes, the latter remains a pinnacle of their career despite the abundance of everything. You see, the record remains another example of a platter, where the musicians put on all the things that make them interesting and more. Thus, you have a multitude of guests, this continued on their reunion LPs, mixing their sonic landscapes with the goofiness of Gorillaz. However, something sublime happened on this overwhelming mess of the material, i.e. you have a hunch they brought the collective to a breaking point, but Albarn managed to hold this together. I can't be shocked Gorillaz fell apart soon afterwards, yet the results still speak volumes.
