It was late. Real late.
You heard another rummaging noise in the kitchen and you groaned, reluctantly you opened an eye and looked at the clock, 1:19 am.
“Shit!” you heard in the kitchen and snorted. You pulled the covers off and padded out of the room. The kitchen light was on and your husband was crouched on the floor, picking up a carton of milk.
“Did you spill it?” you teased, leaning on the entrance frame. Javier looked at you and rolled his eyes.
“It was empty,” he stood up and went to toss it in the bin.
“Yeah, because you haven’t bought more,” Javier groaned at your tease and walked towards you.
“Would you ever forgive me for not buying more milk?” his voice was low and his hands reached to your waist, one over the light fabric of your oversized sleep shirt and the other under it, his fingers tracing shapeless figures on your skin.
“You’d have to pay,” you teased and Javier let out a chuckle.
“What’s the fee?” he asked, leaning closer to you, his nose brushing yours.
“I think...” you feigned a deep thought and Javier, ever the impacient man he was, didn’t let you say anything else, he captured your lips and devoured them.
“Enough?” he asked on your mouth and you shook your head no, your hands reached his face and you brought him again to you. He moaned in the kiss and you ate the sound like a starving woman. Until your starving man’s stomach growled in protest and interrupted the kiss. “fuck.”
“Is my man hungry?” you asked him softly, letting your hands rest on his shoulders, and he nodded. “what do you want?” you broke all contact with his body and he let out a low whine.
“Eggs,” he mumbled, pulling out a cigarette from the pack you two kept in the dining table and you laughed.
“Eggs?” he smiled and nodded, lighting the cigarette.
“And toast,” he puffed and passed the small roll to you, you laughed harder at him.
“Okay,” you sniffed and cleaned an escaping tear from your eye, puffing from the cigarette and handing it back to him “breakfast for dinner it is,”
“Thanks,” Javier looked as you opened the fridge and pulled out a carton of eggs.
“Can I ask how was work?” you said without looking at him, knowing full well sometimes he didn’t want to talk about it.
“No,” he replied, browsing around the records you two had lying around next to the record player.
“Okay,” while you shuffled around the kitchen, Javier put on your favorite album and calculated the place to put on the needle, turning the player on.
Freddie Mercury started singing low through the speaker.
just, one year of love,
"No!” you turned around to see him “fuck you, Peña,” he chuckled.
is better a lifetime alone,
Javier laughed at your reaction.
“You want me to turn it off?” he pointed at the record and you shouted.
“Don’t you dare!” making him chuckle. “come here and dance with me,” you demanded, turning off the stove. Javier obeyed, knowing better.
is like a shooting star right trough my heart,
“Why do you always put on our wedding song as an attempt to smite me?” you asked him, his hands founding themselves again on your waist and yours on his shoulder, he laughed.
“Smite you?” Javier rose his eyebrows and you nodded.
I’m a prisoner of love inside you,
“Yeah, you put it on whenever you want me to drop everything and fuck you,” you furrowed your brows and smiled at him.
“Well, it’s not my fault our wedding song turns you on so much,” he teased and brought you closer to him, leaning to hide his face in the crook of your neck, his hands guiding you to swing at the slow pace of the music “my heart, cries out to your heart,” he muttered the lyrics into your skin and you rolled your eyes as his hands snuck themselves under your shirt “I’m lonely but you can save me,”
“You’re hungry,” you whispered into his ear, playing with the hair of his nape.
“For you,” he mumbled in and after two seconds of silence you two laughed at the cheesiness of his line.
I’m cold, but you light the fire in me,
“What about a glass of whisky while I cook your breakfast and then we can eat together?” you suggested, and he hummed in affirmation
“But first we dance,” he tightened the grip on your waist.
and all I can do is surrender,
“First we dance.”

what christmas means to me || f. andersen
Tumblr media
Word Count: 2.6k
Warnings: Some very slight language, tooth-rotting fluff and babies if you’re not into that.
Summary: It’s your fifth Christmas with your husband Freddie, but your first with your baby girl.
a/n: Here’s some fun christmas fluff with human fridge Freddie Andersen that no one asked for! It’s VERY fluffy but was so much fun for me to write so I hope you all love it. BIG thank you to @woah-were-halfway-there for all her encouragement and for screaming at me to finish it (and there’s a little tie in to her AFTR series in there) you’re the best, friend. Merry Christmas to those who celebrate and happy reading!
This had always been your favorite time of year, the air in Herning crisp and biting but the fresh snow crunching under your boots putting a smile on your face. You had nothing but fond memories of Christmas. Most of your childhood you’d spent them with your mother’s extended family in Toronto, eating your grandmother’s homemade cinnamon rolls and opening presents with your cousins as the sun rose behind the house. Though you were in Denmark this Christmas, you still had the fuzzy warmth in your chest as you walked slowly beside your husband and the little girl perched in his arms. It was your fifth holiday with Freddie but your first with your daughter, whose wide eyes darted around the backyard with the unbridled curiosity of a child who was finally aware enough to take in her first snow. Your first Christmas with Freddie had been very early on in your relationship. You’d met him only a few months before, at a team barbecue hosted by the Hymans. Alannah had become one of your closest friends as the two of you navigated law school together, and you and Zach developed a friendly relationship as a result. As much time as you spent with the two of them, the first time you met his teammates didn’t come until about a year later. Alannah invited you one night over drinks and though you were a bit nervous going into a situation where you knew no one but her, you accepted the invitation and found yourself in their backyard nursing a red solo cup and being introduced to a whole mob of Maple Leafs and their significant others. After making the rounds you’d gone inside to fix another drink and found a large redhead in their kitchen. The moment his soft smile was directed back at you, you knew you were a goner. The two of you had spent almost the entirety of the barbecue chatting in that kitchen, and you left with his phone number and the promise of a date. You hadn’t looked back since. The second Christmas the two of you spent together, you decided to host both of your families at your shared home in Toronto. Your newly received engagement ring sparkled under the tree lights as the two sides finally met for the first time, excitement building for your future to come. Christmas number three you were in Herning, three months married and finding the time to travel overseas as Freddie recovered from shoulder surgery, indefinitely placed on injured reserve. You spent Christmas number four alone back in Ontario with Freddie’s hand constantly rubbing soft circles on your swollen belly as you watch holiday classics on TV. Your baby girl made her entrance two months later, wailing loudly but still managing to immediately capture both your heart and your husbands. You silently cursed yourself for not changing into something warmer as the thin leggings tucked into your boots weren’t really helping the shivers running through your body, but you couldn’t find it in yourself to go back inside. Not when your daughter stuck her tiny hand out and giggled at the feeling of the wet snow. You’d been excited to experience this with her since she was still an idea in your head. Of course you’d had snow back in Ontario, but this was the first time she really seemed to be understanding what she was seeing and feeling. The white blanket on the ground and the small flurries fascinated her as she gazed around the backyard in complete wonder.  You quietly pulled your phone from your pocket as you continued through the cold further into your yard. The time read 4:04 PM, and though you knew it was only around ten in the morning in Scottsdale, you pulled up the familiar contact and hit the FaceTime button, the ringing filling your ears but not capturing the attention of Freddie or your girl. You rolled your eyes as it connected and what your husband called the world’s most terrible mustache filled your screen, but you couldn’t help the grin that spread across your own face as one of your favorite people appeared. “Hey y/n, how’s Scandinavia treating you?” he greeted, lounging on his sofa still in pajamas with a cup of coffee sat on the side table in the background. “Hi friend, always a good time in Denmark. ‘S it hot over there in good old AZ?” The two of you made small talk for the next few minutes before you heard your husband’s loud footsteps in the snow, looking up to find them walking back toward you, Fred’s smile soft in contrast to the giggles still coming from the infant he carried. Auston noticed your gaze lift from him to above the camera and he spoke again “Is that my girl? Where’s my girl, huh?” You didn’t think your daughter’s face could light up any further than it already had but sure enough it did as she heard his voice. “Look baby, say hi to Uncle Aus!” You handed the phone to Fred and he held it for a few minutes as he allowed the two of them to talk, Auston asking your daughter what she’d gotten for Christmas and telling her about his own family’s morning as she babbled back to him. You lost focus on the conversation in favor of watching the snow as it began to fall harder onto the ground below you. It had been steadily picking up speed since you’d started watching it from the bedroom window that morning, and you knew with the chill you’d have to take her inside soon. You tuned back in as you heard the conversation coming to an end, Freddie and Auston saying their goodbyes. “Bye Aus, say hi to Cars and the kids for me! Tell them we love them!” “Bye y/n, we love you too!” The call clicked off and when Fred handed the phone back you flipped over to your camera, moving to video mode to capture the moment of your daughter’s first real experience with snow. Fred gasped and directed her to look at the camera, waving and encouraging her to do the same. “Say hi mumma! Hi mumma!” “Hi baby!” you cooed at her as she flailed her arm in her best attempt at a wave, giggling as she batted more of the snow falling against her little fist. “Are you having fun baby girl? Do you love the snow? Daddy’s having so much fun too, look!” He smiled down at his girl, nodding enthusiastically along as she babbled aimlessly, gesturing to the environment around her. You stopped the video and made sure it saved to the camera roll, knowing it was a memory you’d cherish for years to come. “Okay family, I think it’s time to go inside, it’s getting a little chilly for us out here.” Your baby’s face dropped a bit but she remained silent and continued to mumble unintelligibly to herself as the three of you made your way back toward the house. You sighed at the warmth of your home as you made your way from the backdoor into the kitchen, shedding your coat before turning to help Fred pull the many layers off of your daughter. Her hat came first, then coat, then boots and sweater until she was down to just her Christmas pajamas. You’d thought they were adorable when you picked them out but even more so when you’d put them on her and so you and Fred had decided to just keep her in them for the day, knowing you weren’t planning to leave your home. The rest of the night passed rather uneventfully, the three of you spending the evening parked right where you’d expected, on the couch with hot chocolate watching Miracle on 34th Street and White Christmas before putting the baby to bed at the usual time. It had been a bit harder than usual to get her down but finally, after the excitement of the day, she fell into a fairly deep sleep in her crib. Once she had finally fallen asleep you made your way back to your husband in the living room, flopping ungracefully down next to him on the sofa, sighing deeply and resting against his very large frame. He chuckled to himself as you settled yourselves into a comfortable position, enjoying the silence of the moment together, his breathing quiet and the TV on low in the background. The Christmas tree in the corner provided the only source of light aside from whatever movie was playing, each of the ornaments telling its own story of a memory special to your little family. “Do you remember our second Christmas together, right after we got engaged? When our families met for the first time and our brothers spent the entire day chirping us for how ‘sickeningly in love’ we were?” you broke the quiet of the room and Fred laughed in reply. “Yeah and my mom insisting she help yours in the kitchen, which ended up in the two of them getting drunk together and accidentally burning the rolls.” You both laughed then, remembering your fathers waving dish towels and opening windows to try to stop the beeping of the smoke detector. “Yeah, that one. I think that was the first time I realized how much I was looking forward to having a family of our own. I remember thinking about sitting on the couch with our little girl, giggling with her while we watched you chase our little boy around the room. I wanted that so badly. And now we have it and I don’t think I could be any happier.” It was the truth. From the time you’d begun dating to now, through five years, a marriage and then a baby, your relationship had only strengthened. It wasn’t perfect, no relationship ever was, but it was perfect for you two. You’d grown together through the hard times and laughed together through the good ones and all the while you felt more and more loved by him every day. There wasn’t a sight in the world that filled your heart more than watching Fred with your baby. You had a family, one you’d hoped for since you were a little girl playing house with your sister, and you had created that family with a man who loved you the way you’d always wanted and deserved to be loved. It wasn’t ever lost on you how lucky you were to have him by your side. He let you lose yourself in your thoughts for a minute before a warm hand on your cheek turned your face toward him and you met the eyes you’d fallen madly in love with. “Ik hou van je, schat. I do, I love you. You are the love of my life, and an incredible mother. I wouldn’t ever want to do this, to have a family with anyone else.” He kissed the top of your head and left you with that. Freddie had always been a man of fewer words but you didn’t need them, you felt it in everything he did. It wasn’t about how he told you, but how he showed you. You both sat curled together watching the fire for another moment before you stood, making your way to the tree and pulling a small envelope from behind it. Freddie’s eyebrows furrowed in confusion as you made your way back over to the couch. “Schat, what’s that? I thought we’d finished exchanging all our gifts this morning?” He’d presented you with a beautiful set of diamond earrings to replace the pair you had lost in your move to the new house in Toronto last year, and you had gifted him with a pair of tickets and a room confirmation for a trip to Greece in the coming summer, a destination that had been at the top of both of your bucket lists. This present, though, you’d hidden behind the tree to give to him after your daughter went to sleep, when the time felt right. You handed it to him and shrugged slightly, answering vaguely with a “just another little something, go on, open it.” He opened the envelope and pulled out the card, regarding it carefully until you encouraged him to read the writing on the inside out loud. The card was simple, white with a few red hearts adorning the front, empty on the inside. You’d written the message before you left town last week, working through tears as you did. The tears welled up again as he began to read and you tried willing them away, but it proved to be nearly impossible as you heard them build in his voice as well. “You’ll watch mommy’s belly each day as I grow, and then you’ll count my ten fingers and ten little toes. You’ll hold me when I cry and rock me to sleep, but stay with me until I’m not making a peep. With mommy and sister we’ll laugh and we’ll play, and you’ll get to watch me grow every day. I’ll be there cheering at all of your games, until it’s time for me to hit the ice just the same. I can’t wait to meet you so very soon, so I’ll see you and mommy this coming June.” You were both quietly crying by the time he was done reading the card and he clutched it tightly in his hand, closing his eyes to collect his thoughts before he finally addressed you again. “Really? You’re pregnant?” You only had the chance to nod before he was up off the couch, bringing you in tightly to his body as you both tried to rein in your emotions. “I found out about a week before we left. We have the first ultrasound as soon as we get back to Toronto.” You pulled back slightly, making eye contact before you continued, “I’m so fucking happy, Fred. I’m so excited to have another baby with you. Are you happy?” “Happy? Schat, I’m elated. I can’t wait to watch you be a mother again, to bring another life into this world with me. I love you. I’m so happy.” You embraced for a few minutes longer before retiring to your bedroom, and the soft, gentle sex had you falling asleep with a small smile on your face. You slept for only a few hours before you were awoken by the giggles of your first baby from the living room, the bed empty next to you and the clock on the nightstand reading 1:47 AM. You made your way toward the sound where you found Freddie bouncing your daughter on his lap, both of them apparently unable to sleep and watching cartoons on the television set. Standing in the doorway watching them with your hand placed over your still mostly flat stomach, the excitement of giving her a baby brother or sister grew in you once more, the same visions of Freddie chasing another little one around the room that you’d had three years ago now popping back into your head. You knew that he would love this baby in the same way that he loved the one currently perched on his knee, so deeply that you saw it in every moment he spent with her. Next Christmas would be just as special as the last five with him had been, and just as special as all of those still yet to come.

Ink
Consider this like a future snapshot in the Get Down timeline, all the way up into current times. The reader (our same trans reader from You Send Me) has kept up the poly monogamous relationship with the band, as well as working as part of the road crew in addition to various freelance work in the downtime between tours. In this particular captured moment, it’s Roger to the rescue to give the reader a few moments of relaxation.
Also, written a bit because I’m in love with his tattoos, and would die to have a chance to talk ink and the stories behind them with him.
My love to all who read/like/reblog!
The agreement was fairly simple; Roger split his time as he wanted and as he was able between yourself and Sarina, more often with Sarina. It worked out well though, since you spent a great deal of your time on various tasks for your own career, writing for yourself and others and for the various freelance assignments you took on whenever Queen didn’t need you for tours.
But on occasion, nights like tonight were good.
Sarina had texted you to let you know he was on the way, but it was still faster than you expected that your doorbell rang.
“You need a break,” he said as he walked inside, and took stock of your less-than-clean flat. “Have you done anything aside from work in the last few days?”
You tried to casually tuck away the pile of first, second, third, and onwards handwritten drafts that were stacked messily on the floor near the couch. “Of course I have!”
He gestured to the basket of clean laundry in the hall. “You do know laundry doesn’t count, right? That’s just different work.”
“It’s necessary work, like the writing,” you protested weakly.
“Right,” he said. “But have you sat down and done...nothing? Watched a show, taken a breath, relaxed?”
You shrugged. “How important is that answer, really? How about I get us something to drink, and you sit down?”
“With that, you made it even more important,” Roger replied. “What about food?”
“No,” you muttered weakly, but he was already at the fridge. “In my defense, I have a lot of rice, and it has to be eaten up eventually...”
“Dinner, a movie, and relaxing,” he said, shutting the fridge door, shaking his head at the lack of contents in it. “Those are your only goals for tonight, alright? No arguing with me.”
“I don’t argue,” you said.
He smirked. “Really?”
You opened your mouth, then paused. Any rebuttal was just that-arguing. And you truly didn’t want to argue with him. It wasn’t that relaxing sounded bad, but all the same, you had work to do, and the flat could seemingly never be clean enough-
His hands slipped to your waist and interrupted your train of thought. “You aren’t saying anything, but you’re doing it now, that thing. Where you want to argue, but you don’t, and there’s one hundred other ‘buts’ in your head, running at a million miles a minute. Let yourself stop for the night, take things one minute at a time.”
You nodded, but he laughed. “Your laptop is still on, isn’t it?”
“In my room. I’ve got I don’t know how many things open right now, for work, and then just for myself, and a coworker needed help on something and I couldn’t say no, you know how it is-”
“Go turn it off,” he interrupted, and gave you the gentlest push towards your bedroom. “Go on. Then you come back out here, and we’re figuring out dinner. Actual dinner, real food, not rice and whatever sauce you’ve had in the cupboard for the last year.”
“It was only six months old!” you shouted down the hall. “And I froze the left overs, so it lasts that long!”
“You’re lucky you aren’t sick!” came his reply, and you knew he was at least slightly right. In theory, most things kept decently when frozen, but leftover sauces like alfredo maybe weren’t meant to be in that category. Or used with rice, for that matter.
You saved your various drafts as quickly as you could, your laptop fans whining and hot to the touch, and attempted to spruce up your bedroom before heading back out to him.
He had laid himself on your couch, the stack of drafts retrieved from where you had shoved them almost underneath it, a few pages of them in his hands. “These are good. Just because, or for something else?”
“Someone else,” you said. “A commission that I’m behind on, actually. It needs work.”
“I think maybe you need to take your eyes off of it for a few days,” he said. “Because to me, who has literally never seen it before, it’s good. And you know I don’t toss that out for everything.”
You shrugged. “It’s getting there.”
He sighed. “Come lay down. Come on, look at you. Tense as can be, tired. The world won’t end if you lay with me for the next ten minutes.”
You settled down beside him on the couch, and tried to relax, to stop the constant running tally of things you needed to start, needed to finish, needed to fix so that they could be considered finished.
“I can feel your heart speeding when you’re overthinking things,” he whispered. “Just a few seconds, for me. Think of nothing.”
“I don’t think I can do that,” you admitted.
“Then think of something other than work,” he said. “What about the last time all of us went to Japan, hm?”
“That was nice,” you hummed. “Busy, but what tour isn’t?”
He nodded. “In particular, I’m thinking of the afternoon you fell asleep in the garden of that house we rented. Do you remember that?”
“Vaguely,” you smiled. “I was so out of it the rest of that night though. But it was a really good nap. Not too warm or too cold, and the rain...”
“I won a decent amount off of Adam with that,” he chuckled. “He was so sure the rain would be the thing to wake you up. I told him that was a bad bet to make; he was so confident though...ah well. He’s learned now, hasn’t he?”
“That I can sleep anywhere if I’m tired enough?” you asked, fighting to keep your eyes open.
“Yeah,” Roger smiled as your fingers traced the lines of the tattoo on his arm. “Speaking of...what’s a round estimate of the hours you’ve slept in the last week? Fully slept, I mean, not interrupted by work or anything else.”
You held up a hand.
“Five?”
“Give or take a few,” you mumbled.
“Jesus,” he sighed. “You know, you can sleep now. Dinner can wait.”
“But you’re probably hungry, and if you give me a minute-”
He shushed you, and his other hand dropped over your eyes. “Rest, old man.”
“I’m not old,” you protested. “I’m younger than you by a bit, and you aren’t old.”
“I’m not old?” he laughed. “I’m certainly not young.”
“You’re always young to me,” you murmured. “All of you. Freddie and Jim too, if they were still here. Young and ready to get into trouble. Just because your hair has gone white or gray, doesn’t matter. All I see are those young men, somehow made of boundless energy and talent and intelligence, who I could keep up with on a good day if I made an effort.”
“That makes you young then too,” Roger said decisively after a moment. “Family might argue with us some on this-”
“Young people that haven’t gotten old enough to understand this yet,” you interrupted. “They’ll learn.”
“You say that,” Roger said, and you felt him slip his arm from under your neck as he got off the couch. “And yet you still don’t eat enough, or sleep enough, or take enough breaks.”
“I’ll learn eventually too,” you muttered, eyes still shut, aching back curled against the couch to fill the open space he left. “Are you coming back? I won’t be able to sleep if you don’t come back.”
“I think you’ll be able to,” Roger said. “But yes, I will.”
---
He didn’t keep his promise, but the scent of warm food made you forgive him.
“I thought this might be a decent alarm clock,” he said, helping you up off the couch despite your protests. “Pizza, because then I know you’ll have leftovers to eat for the next few days.”
“If you send Sarina over here with food-”
“I don’t send her, she sends herself,” he said. “You know that. Like it or not, everyone keeps their eye on you when they can. Hell, if I sent a group message out to everyone now, you’d probably end up with food for weeks.”
“Oh lord, please don’t,” you said. “It would be very sweet, don’t get me wrong-”
“I know, I know,” he interrupted. “But then they’d worry over you and you don’t like it when people worry over you. I won’t, but you might get another pizza sent to you randomly next week.”
“Randomly? And anonymously too, I’m sure?”
“Well I don’t know if Brian would tell you or not that he was doing it, but he might, if only to tell you that I told him to send you one,” Roger grinned.
You shook your head. “You’re all ridiculous, you know that?”
“Ridiculous out of care for you,” he replied. “And there’s nothing you can do about it!”
The to do list that had been wracking your brain slowly melted away as you ate, and if he had asked, you would have had to admit that you did need this. To have someone dear to you there, with good food and time to rest.
After, when the food had been put away and a random show turned on your TV for background noise, you lay again with him.
This time, in your room on your bed, your head on his shoulder, one hand tracing the lines of his tattoos again.
“Never told you much about these, have I?” Roger mused.
“No. But I’ve never sat down and told you all about any of mine,” you replied. “I mean, I told you all when I was getting them or what it might look like. But I don’t think we’ve ever had any sort of intensive meeting about the stories behind them, or any of yours.”
“We ought to,” he said. “I know I’m not normally one for it.”
“I have to admit, I didn’t think I’d ever hear you wish for something like that.”
“But...I don’t know. Would be nice. I mean, some of those you got before you met up with us, so we really have no idea the story behind them. Though I’m starting to think you just like toying with mine!”
“I can stop,” you said, your finger stilled where it was on his hand.
He shook his head. “I like it. But I’ve never seen you do that with anyone else, not any of the boys you met up with after you and Freddie cooled down that had tattoos.”
“None of those boys were all that good,” you tutted as you resumed your tracing. “Or worthy of something that intimate. Freddie always told me I had a habit of getting carried away with the first cute thing I saw, then being frustrated when they weren’t interested in anything more stable. He was right, and he knew it, but I should have told him so more.”
“He knew, even if you didn’t say it,” Roger said. “Or you wouldn’t have been in his circle of friends, or kept on as road crew. You know that just as well as I do. He didn’t suffer a fool, and he knew you were up to the work of being his friend, and friends with all of us.”
“Do you think he’d have any?” you wondered. “By now? Maybe of the cats, if anything...”
“I don’t know for sure,” Roger said. “He didn’t much like things like that, doctors and dentists and all of that, unless it was necessary for his health. But then again, you don’t much like those things either, and you’ve got some. Maybe you would have convinced him, or I could have gotten him to my artist.”
“Just a bunch of old ladies, covered in ink,” you sighed.
“Excepting Brian and Deaky,” Roger said. “Now that would be the real test for you. Could you convince them to get something done?”
“Make it a band and crew bonding thing,” you replied. “We could all get one, something to symbolize touring so long. So many years, so much hard work. I don’t know exactly what, but I figure if we could make Freddie feel comfortable with it, he could help us convince the others. Adam as well; I think he could easily talk us all into something like that.”
“Maybe we’ll have to do that anyway,” Roger said. “We have time to think on it, at least. Figure out a design, offer it up to anyone on the crew who wants to get it with us.”
“Brian might just agree to it then,” you said. “But Deaky? I wouldn’t want to bother him, but I’d feel bad not offering it to him as well.”
“He’s never gotten mad at us for messaging him about sillier, lighter things,” Roger said. “At worst, he would ignore it and not answer, and that would be answer enough. Who knows? He might surprise and reply back with a picture of the design done. After all, what have we all got to lose at this point?”
You let his arm wrap around you and pull you close, and tried not to think about that, about the fears that occasionally raced through your mind as to what exactly you had to lose, what they all did, what everyone did, with the state of the world.
“Nothing except some blank canvas,” you replied. “And I don’t know about you, but I think I’d like to die absolutely covered. Not a square bit of free skin.”
“You’ll have to learn to take breaks then, so we can keep you going long enough for that,” Roger said. “Now, I’m simply too tired to go back home, and I daresay I might be too tired for the next few days...”
“Sarina told me you were spending the next week with me, to keep an eye on me and make sure I eat and sleep or whatever,” you smiled. “You can be tired with me.”
“And you’ll actually rest, and relax?”
“For you? I could manage it,” you replied. “Thank you, Roger. For everything.”
“You don’t have to thank me, you know that,” he smiled. “It’ll be thanks enough to hear you snoring.”
“I do not snore!”
“Arguing that since 1978,” Roger tutted. “There’s no shame in it, it’s very cute.”
You groaned and pressed your face into his chest. “I’m snoring extra loud, just for that.”
“And you’ll make me all the happier,” Roger laughed.
You couldn’t be sure if you actually did snore or not, but you were confident it was the best sleep you had gotten in weeks.
The food helped, and the break, but more than anything, you knew it was Roger’s presence that let you finally rest.
And that was why your next tattoo would be something for him, and you were going to be sure to let him know.

"Don’t be nervous, everything is gonna be fine" Roger murmured to your ear as you were both sat in the taxi, going to Freddie’s place for your birthday and also celebrating the new album of Queen, which was supposed to be release soon.
“Ally is gonna be here and she hate me” You whined, pressing strongly Roger’s hand. "And Fred...he is— he wasn’t very kind with me last time" You mumbled remembering Freddie’s attitude, you really didn’t want to experience it again.
"I know baby, but you know how Fred is...he can be a bit extreme and clumsy, he didn’t intend to hurt you" His lips brushed gently against your cheekbone, his fingers firmly interlaced with yours.
You didn’t answer, only hoping Roger was right.
"And about Ally..." He continued. “I think she feel threaten by you” You scoffed almost offended, how a girl like her would be afraid of you ? "Baby, I’m telling you, she always had a...reputation, doing some crazy stuffs all the time, she’s the last person I would have seen with a kid. And she know the boys think like me” His thumb was playing with your ring, a habit Roger took since you get engaged and you grew fond of it. "But you on the other hand...you’re definitely a mom material, you’re natural with kids, she saw that too"
"Are you calling me boring ?" You asked with an amused smile but a still a bit worry. You heard few stories about Ally and boy, she did insane things when she was younger.
Roger scoffed at you, pretending to be shocked by your words.
"Do you really think that I, Roger Taylor, hot drummer from Queen, would get engage with someone who is boring ?” You smiled cheekily and shook negatively your head. " ‘course you’re not boring my love. But you are...softer than Ally, a caring loving soul and it’s obvious that you will be an incredible mother. Our kids gonna love you"
Your heart fluttered heavily in your chest, our kids...Roger chuckled at the sparkling stars in your gaze.
“I love you" You captured his lips for a tender kiss and you could feel him smiled widely against your skin as he murmured a I love you more. “You’re such a sap” You chuckled softly.
"Only for you baby” He winked at you as the time as the car stopped, signalling that you were arrived at your destination. “Hold on tight my love, they’re starving for some juicy gossips tonight" They referring to the crowd of fierce journalists ready to do anything to have a picture of the drummer of Queen and his lady.
You hated them.
Roger’s hand firmly wrapping around yours, practically dragging you through the horde of flashes and screams.
"Roger ! Over here !”
“(Y/N) ! How are you feeling about breaking a family ?”
"Mr Taylor ! Is this true you’re secretly dating the mother of your son ?"
"Are the rumours about the cancellation of your wedding true ?"
You hid your face the best you could into Roger’s back, trying to ignore the nasty comments you get at every step, slowly but surely fissuring your confidence.
“You’re okay ?” The drummer squeezed gently your hand and you nodded, not trusting your voice for the moment. “Let’s go then, birthday girl"
                                  ***********
It was about two hours into the party and you were currently in the garden, taking a little break from the crowd, loud music and all the other crazy stuffs Freddie had plan for the evening. It was fun but a bit suffocating, not really your favourite kind of night. They were so many peoples, it didn’t really feel like a party for your birthday at all but Roger and the rest of the boys seemed to have fun so you were okay too. You took a sip of your wine, a bit tipsy, the sound of the window opening made you turn around. You gulped discreetly when you recognized Ally, she was wearing a gorgeous long dress, hugging perfectly her thin waist with a pretty low neckline and you would lie if you wouldn’t say you were a bit jealous of how everything seemed to fit her perfectly.
“(Y/N)” She said rather coldly and lighted a cigarette, stayed at a good distance away from you. “Funny to see you here, Roger told me it wasn’t really your scene”
You wished she would have just ignored you.
“Well, I’m celebrating my birthday so here I am.” You shrugged, keeping your eyes on the lovely garden. “What about you ? Where is Seth ?”
She winced slightly at the name of her son and took a deep puff, her necklace – which looked incredibly expensive for someone who needed money from Roger only few months ago – was twinkling under the moonlight as well as her big earring. You felt a bit ridicule in your simple short dress, nothing too brashness but she, would certainly catching everyone’s eyes tonight.
“He is sleeping upstairs, Freddie closed the access at his floor” You nodded simply, feeling awkward in this silence. “You know (Y/N), I have nothing against you” She spooned around, looking at you. “I can see you really love Rog, I kind of feel sorry for you”
You shifted uncomfortably, the last thing you wanted to discuss about with her was Roger.
“What do mean you feel sorry ?” You took a big sip and focused your gaze on your bright ring, always warming your heart.
“He is not gonna stay with you, he never do, with no one. That who he is, he have his little amount of fun then he moved on to another pretty flower” She looked at you with little smile, not mean though, almost a sorry one.
But you were angry, how dare she come to your face to say stuffs like that ? What was her purpose except hurting you ?
“I don’t think you know the real Roger or you wouldn’t talk about him like that” You spat and she seemed surprise by your ferocious tone. “He’s more than just the playboy you saw in him, he is smart and talented–“
“I never said he wasn’t (Y/N). What I’m saying is don’t get your hope to high because soon he will find someone else” She explained as she expired the smoke by her nose, a satisfied smirk on her pink lips. “No offence but you’re a bit...not boring but more...bland ? Yeah you’re tasteless and it’s not gonna take much longer before he grew bored of you, honey”
You clenched your jaw at the hatred which flew through your body, she knew exactly where to hit to hurt you. Your lack of confidence was apparently more visible that you thought.
“If you think he will go back to you, it’s not–“
“He will” She stated firmly and her assurance made you a bit cracking up. “We got a son together, of course he will come back to me. We always been close (Y/N), more than you and him could ever be, don’t waste your time sweetheart, it’s useless” She dropped her half finished cigarette in your drink and gave you a last smirk before turning around to the window.
You blinked few times, your heart hammering loudly against your chest, she was doing that just to scare you away. Roger loved you.
“We’re engaged and you’re just jealous” You commented rather quietly but she heard you anyway and glanced at you with an amused smile.
“Poor (Y/N), you’re really cute. You think I’m jealous of you ? Oh come on” She chuckled and you felt your cheeks blushed furiously at her mocking remark. “Let me tell you a little something because obviously Roger didn’t tell you...” She drummed slightly her fingers on her plumpy lips, pretending to think then shrugged. “Here the deal, darling, Roger and I, are already married so...I don’t think I have anything else to ad, right ?” She winked at you and disappeared quickly, leaving you completely dumbfounded.
You shook your head and abandoned your drink somewhere in a table, rushing through the crowd to find the bathroom. You locked yourself in it and drank some water, trying to calm your heavy heartbeat. This girl...she was the worst. Her and Roger...married...that wasn’t possible. Who asked someone to marry him if he is already engaged ? That was silly. She was just trying to mess up with your mind. You took a deep breath and get out from here, determined to find Roger and asked for some explanations. Or rather reassurance.
It took you a good twenty minutes to find the drummer, he was in the spacious marbled kitchen of the singer, taking out of the fridge several bottles of expensive champagne, humming happily.
“Rog, can I talk to you for a second ?” You tugged on his shirt and he glanced toward you, a warm smile spreading on his features. His cheeks were a bit red and was blinking furiously, two things that proved you he already had few drinks in his bloodstream.
“Hiya my love” He pressed his cold and wet hands from the bottles on your cheeks, making you shivered. “Miss you tonight, where were you hiding ?” He brushed a sloppy kiss on your lips, giggling dizzily. He must feel your tense behaviour as you didn’t really respond to the kiss. “What’s wrong ?”  He rubbed gently your face, his eyebrows furrowing as he was trying his best to focus on you.
“I...it’s about Ally. She said–“
“Oh Ally ? I know she told me !” He shook his head with an amused smile and you cocked your head, not sure what he is talking about. She certainly didn’t tell he was going back with her, he wouldn’t react like that. “She said that you and her had a little talk and now things between both of you were cool, with Seth and all” You were speechless by the boldness of this girl but before you could explain to him what really happened, he continued, a bit overexcited. “Baby, you can’t believe how relieve I am that you and Ally made peace. This tension between you two was eating me alive, I was so worried about Seth being in this mess too...” He had more drinks than you thought or he would never have told you that.
He brought your hand to his mouth, kissing it with a giggle, he seemed really happy about what Ally told him and you didn’t want to break his hope about the two of you so you kept your mouth shut. This wedding thing though, was still in your mind and swore to yourself to ask him tomorrow as soon as he wake up.
“Rog, hun, Freddie’s looking for you !” Of course Ally was sent to find him, how surprising. She tugged on his shoulder, dragging him out of the kitchen and pretending you weren’t even here.
Roger caught your hand before following her, he tripped on his feet and giggled childishly, soon you all ended in the large, no giant, living-room, Freddie at the center of the room. He had black sunglasses on his nose and was draped with a big crown on his head, a cape matching the hat on his shoulders, he was royal indeed.
“Here you are Rog ! Come on, tonight we have a lot to celebrate !” You followed timidly the drummer, feeling tenser the more you get close to the infernal duo Ally and Freddie. “I have a little surprise for the queen of the night !” You felt your hands sweated into Roger’s and you were practically sure he wasn’t talking about you. “Ally, my sweet darling, I ordered from the best french pastry chef this desert, to celebrate in once every of your birthdays that we missed !”
You felt your face burned, of course he would find a way to turn the attention to Ally. Not that you minded to stay away from all the wondering eyes but it hurt a bit. He used to spoil you on your birthday but this year he didn’t even gave you a call. You were losing a great friend with not real reason and it caused you pain, more than you wanted to admit to yourself.
The crowd was beaming in excitation, everyone pressing around you to have a look of the giant cake that four men just put on the brown table.
“That’s look pretty cool” Roger commented with an amused smile.
It was, at least, a hundred of cupcake with Ally’s face on it and the whole of them were next to each other, forming a shape of heart. She jumped in his arms, kissed loudly his cheeks with a high giggling, thanking Fred a billion times.
“Hum Fred, where is (Y/N)’s cake ? The one we picked together, do you remember it ?” Brian asked with his brows furrowed.
You knew it was a sweet gesture from the guitarist, at least someone remembered that it was suppose to be for your birthday, Freddie and Roger had insist a lot for you to agree, but right now you wished he had keep his mouth shut. You were pretty sure Freddie wouldn’t hesitate to make a sharp remark about it. And you were totally right.
“I’m sorry but we had a little change of plan (Y/N) darling. I’m sure you don’t mind ?” He didn’t even let you answer and took a sip of the champagne bottle. “Anyway twenty eight years old isn’t a big deal, no need to fuss about it”
“I think it’s thirty Freddie” Paul added with snarkily smile and the lead singer clapped his hand with a grin before patting Paul’s cheek.
“Is this right honey ? You’re thirty years old ? Would explain a lot of thing” He commented as he lowered his sunglasses, observing you from head to toes. “You should maybe start putting some Anti-Aging cream, wouldn’t be a luxe darling” He saw the look of hurt on you face but it visibly didn’t stop him. You knew he was fucking high and obviously shit-faced, it wasn’t the real Freddie but he was going too far this time.
You stayed frozen as every single people in the room laughed loudly, inspecting you shamelessly, all going with their little comments about your clothes or the lack of space between your thighs. Even Roger was laughing, your hands still interlaced, he gave you a sweet smile before pressing a kiss on your burning cheek. You clenched your jaw roughly to avoid crying, you bowed your head a little, your gaze finding Veronica’s one. She gave you a sad smile, shaking her head, disapproving Freddie’s behaviour toward you.
“It’s just a joke, baby. Relax” Roger murmured to your ear and you felt even worse. How could he not see how uncomfortable you were ? “She is twenty-seven Fred, you bastard, you know that I’m sure” He added louder with an amused smile and Freddie gasped dramatically, putting a hand on his mouth.
“Darling, it’s even worse than I thought !” The laughs came back, echoing in the living-room and you felt your eyes burned, ears turning pink. You blinked furiously, feeling the familiar panic rising through your chest, you hated being the center of the attention and it was even worse when it was just to humiliate you. “Ally, honey, maybe you should give her the cream box I offered you earlier. She need it more than you”
The brunette didn’t miss the occasion to snort heavily, wiping a tear from her eyes as she looked at you, pinching her lips. “I’m not sure it would be enough Freddie”
She smiled proudly at the crowd bursted in laugh again and honestly you never felt so humiliated in all your life. You sniffled quietly and quickly dried the few tears which escaped with your dress’ sleeve. You wanted to run away but you couldn’t move, your head was spinning, your shoulders low as the humiliation washed over you, the evening couldn’t have been worse.
“I think it’s enough now” It wasn’t Roger who spoke, it was Brian. He stood up and John was right behind him, both of them looking furious. “Fred you’re being a dick right now, stop that immediatly.
“Oh my god Brian, stop being so dramatic !” The singer rolled his eyes.
“It’s just a joke, what ? She can’t even take a joke without crying ?” Ally added with a chuckle. She glanced at your wet face and hid her smiling face onto Freddie’ shoulder. “Apparently not”
“It’s not funny, you idiot ! Do you think (Y/N) look like she is having a good time ?” John spat angrily, as someone rather shy, he knew how horrible you must be feeling right now, your shaky hands and low head proving him right.
“She know it’s a joke, right baby ?” The drummer bowed his face toward you with a grin which immediately fell when he saw the salty tears rolling on your features. You avoided purposely his gaze, your pathetic sniffles was the only noises above the low music. “(Y/N)...shit, baby, don’t cry...it’s was just a joke” Roger tried to save the situation but it was way too late. You violently moved away his hands from your face and Freddie caught your wrist before you could move.
“(Y/N) darling, it’s wasn’t my purpose to make you cry, I swear” He grabbed a cupcake and put a candle on it, bossing Paul to light it up. “Here, honey. Happy birthday” For few seconds, you recognised Freddie’ soft smile, the real one, not Paul’s puppet and it warmed a bit your heart.
Ally saw it too and didn’t hesitate before accidentally knocking off a waiter, he spilled the multiple glasses of champagne from his tray on your dress. A loud gasp collective resonating in the room as the liquid immediately soaked your white clothes, showing everyone of good look of your hardening nipples due to the cold drink. Now, it was the summon of your humiliation.
“Well, someone forgot to put a bra tonight. Who knew (Y/N) could be a naughty girl like that ?” Paul’s twangy voice commented with a little laugh. “But please, no one want to see that, trust me” He pinched his lips, savouring your face crumbling under his vicious comment.
You immediately turned your heels and practically ran to the main door, sobbing and shaking loudly. The cold air of London hit you hard but you couldn’t care less, you crossed your arm to cover your chest and stopped walking when you saw the crowd of journalists still waiting in front of the main door. You couldn’t escape like you wanted to. You felt a warm hand on your shoulder and recognised Roger’ scent immediately. He slid your coat on your shoulders and rubbed your arms quickly, your bag hanging on him.
“I’m sorry baby. Let’s go home okay ?” You nodded simply, your head downed to the ground and you let Roger dragged your back to the car, the burnt of your earlier humiliation well rooted in your stomach, you wanted nothing more than disappeared right now.
                                                           ********
“(Y/N) ? Baby ?” You opened your eyes with difficulty, they were swollen from all the cry from the previous night. You had almost immediately fall asleep back at home, after sobbing painfully onto Roger’s chest for few more minutes. “How are you feeling ? You were talking and sleeping during your sleep”
That wasn’t surprising, you often had an agitated sleep when you fell asleep in a such poorly state. You glanced at him next to you and you throat tightened at yesterday’s memories. How he found your humiliation funny. It wasn’t on purpose, you knew it but it didn’t change the sharp pain you had feel last evening.
When he saw you weren’t going to answer, your red and puffy eyes was enough for him to guess, he gulped loudly, trying to find the good words to apologise.
“I...I’m sorry baby. I was drunk and I didn’t think Freddie really hurt you, I should have defend you, I’m such a dick” He caressed softly your cheek, hoping for an answer but you kept staring at your fingers, playing with the hem of the pillow. You had honestly nothing to say. You felt exhausted and incredible sad, nothing less, nothing more. “It won’t happen again, I swear. I’m going to talk to him and believe me it’s the last time he had speak to you like this. Him and Ally, Christ, they’re terrible together...”
“You know what hurt me the most ?” You sat up slowly, couldn’t hear more of his rambling. He didn’t answer as he already knew what you were going to say. “Of every horrible things Fred told me, the worst was still you, laughing with everyone” He closed his eyes, sniffling rapidly before opened them again, his lower lips roughly trapped between his teeth. “Not need to tell you how I feel about myself right now, after everyone gave their little comments about my body, it was really nice” A fake smile curled on your lips and the blond shook his head.
“Baby, you’re fucking beautiful, you know that ! You’re–“
“Please, shut up Rog” He closed his mouth right away, his Adam’s apple bobbing harshly. “I don’t need that now, I just want to forget this evening” He nodded quickly and carefully grabbed your hand, he relaxed a bit when you didn’t push him away. “I have just something I wanted to ask your yesterday but you were already drunk”
“What is it ?”
“Ally told me you were married” You said with a tired voice, you wanted to hear his explanations then slept for a thousand years. “So, Roger...am I wearing this ring like a fool ?” He frowned deeply then like he suddenly remembering something, he scratched awkwardly his chest. You already had your answer, you chuckled bitterly and took off your hands from his.
“I...it’s not...technically we’re married, yes” He replied with a shaky voice. “But only in Nevada ! I don’t even think it’s legitimate anywhere else. We...we were completely wasted and it was our first tour in America, we ended up in a shitty chapel with Ally in Las Vegas and got married” You weren’t even that surprise, after all he did told you she did a lot crazy thing, it made sense. “We weren’t even together anymore when it happened, it mean nothing baby, absolutely nothing. I didn’t declare the marriage anywhere, it’s like it never existed"
He glanced at you with pleading eyes but you just lay back, murmuring a quiet okay.
“Are you...are you mad at me ?”
“No, babe, it’s awesome. Once again Ally humiliated me, nothing new don’t worry. I’m used to it now” You answered sarcastically, burying your head in the pillows, when did you life become such a mess ? “I know you’re suppose to see Seth this morning, so go on”
“No, I’m stay–“
“I think I could use some time alone Roger” You whispered and you heard him sigh sadly.
He pressed a light kiss on your head. “I love you (Y/N)” The bed squeaked a bit as he stood up and walked to the door, your eyes closed and hiding from his guilty features. “I hope you can forgive me for my stupidity”
You hoped too.

Chance Meetings- Morgan Rielly Chapter 10
Tumblr media
Chapter 10
Word Count: 3.5 K
A/N: I finished the chapter early so I was able to post it before Tuesday.
November 25th, 2018
Morgan’s POV
After what happened last night I wanted to make sure Hailey understood that she was loved and protected. I have yet to work up the courage to tell her, but there was no doubt in my mind that I loved Hailey. She was the person I wanted to be with for the rest of my life, the person I want to start a family with. To be my partner as we navigate through the ups and downs and obstacles life throws at us.
Hailey’s’ strength and courage was something that I admired and I cant tell that when she loves, she loves with her whole heart and wears her heart on her sleeve. Watching her with the children it left no doubt in my mind that she was born to be a mother. I am willing to do everything in my power to make sure Hailey knows how much I love her, and my plan was to leave no doubts, that I am going to be the best father to our children one day. The one thing weighing on my mind was the conversation that needed to be had in order to discuss what it means to be with a hockey player, the not knowing if or when I could possibly be traded. Would she be willing to move with me if I got traded? Would she leave her dream job?
Seeing her interact with my teammates and their families, there is no question that she was made for this lifestyle, the way she has no problem with change and being able to pick up her life and move to a different country is a testament to how she was raised.
Hailey told me that while her dad was playing hockey they moved all around the states and Europe before he retired. Making it a little bit easier for Hailey to make new friends and create a life no matter where she is in the world.
I gazed down at Hailey as she laid in my arms sleeping peacefully, her chest rising and falling in sync with her breath as her head laid perfectly on my chest.  If it was possible I would have her in my arms like this forever, she had a way of making the simplest tasks memorable.
I slowly transferred her onto her pillow before slipping out of bed. I quickly threw on some track pants and a long sleeve shirt before heading into the kitchen. I opened the fridge to see what I could make Hailey for breakfast when the idea to buy flowers for her popped into my head. I grabbed my house key and headed towards the grocery store down the street from my place.
I found a beautiful bouquet of flowers as soon as I walked into the store. I grabbed a bouquet before heading down the sweats aisle to buy her some peanut butter cups her favourite chocolate.
Tumblr media
I paid for the stuff before quickly walking back to my place. I wanted to be able to have enough time to surprise her with the flowers and breakfast in bed.
I placed the flowers in a vase I had from the last time my mother visited and set it on the counter. Next, I started to grab the ingredients to make homemade waffles, I was making the batter when the idea to put crushed up peanut butter cups into the batter. As the batter was cooking in the waffle maker I turned on the coffee maker to make us our coffee.
I grabbed the vanilla coffee creamer from the fridge and poured some into her cup. Before Hailey, I didn’t have coffee creamer in my fridge, as I love my coffee black. However as soon as I found out that she loves it, I always make sure my fridge is stocked. Auston commented on the fact that I now have creamer in my fridge when the boys were over to play some video games. Of course Jake jumped at the chance to make fun of me for being whipped. Freddie nodded his head in my direction as If to say that I was doing what any decent boyfriend would do for their girlfriend.
Seeing my parent’s relationship, it made me realized that it’s the little things that matter and that actions most definitely speak louder than words. Watching their relationship grow as the years pass by, it has made me want to do everything in my power to create a relationship like there’s with Hailey. There is no doubt what so ever that I want to bring her home to Vancouver, and that I want to eventually marry her creating a life together. I want to raise our children in both Vancouver and Toronto, and I want to go to family events together. Most of all I want to wake up and go to sleep every day knowing that I am the luckiest man in the world to I have a partner like Hailey, someone who loves and supports me unconditionally. Someone who wants the same things in life as me. Someone who is strong enough to handle the hockey seasons and the downfalls of being married to a player. All I know is now that I have her in my life I will do everything in my power to make her fall even more in love with me every day for the rest of our lives.
Both the waffles and the coffees were done so I grabbed a big tray and placed them on it, before grabbing the maple syrup and a flower from the bouquet placing it on the tray.
I turned off both the coffee and the waffle maker before grabbing the tray in my hands and slowly walking into my bedroom careful not to drop the breakfast.
I stopped at the door and watched, as Hailey was still asleep. However, she now had my pillow wrapped tightly in her arms. I walked into the room quietly and placed the tray on my bedside table before climbing into bed with her and kissing her softly on the forehead, and her nose, before making my way to her lips.
“Mmmmmm good morning.” She moaned as she slowly opened her beautiful blue eyes as she looked up at me through her long eyelashes. Moments like these made me fall more in love with her.
“Morning beautiful,” I whispered before capturing her lips between mine slowly kissing her, hoping that the kiss could portray how much I loved her. I wanted the day I said I love you to Hailey to be special and romantic because I know how much she loves those types of movies and books. I just had to figure out the perfect time to confess my love to her.
I sat up in bed with my back against the headboard as she laid her head on my shoulder and her legs draped over mine. Hailey looked over towards my bedside table and sat up to get a better look. “Did you make me breakfast in bed?” She asked as her eyes lit up as I nodded my head.
“That is the most romantic thing anyone has ever done for me,” she exclaimed as she gave me a quick kiss before leaning over me to grab the flower.
She quickly pulls the flower towards her nose and took a deep breath in, smelling the sweet smell of flowers as she sighed in content.
“Thank you,” she muttered as she put the flower back onto the tray and kissed my lips once more time.
“You should expect more things like this babe. I promise you that when you are with me I will do little things like this to show you how much you mean to me.” I said as I kissed her forehead, slowly placing kisses all the way down to her lips.
I pulled away from her lips as I reached down for the tray placing it on the bed between us. We enjoyed our breakfast as we talked about whatever came to mind. That was one thing I loved about our relationship, we could talk for hours and not run out of things to say to one another.
“I’m going to have a shower.” Hailey climbed out of bed and swayed her hips as she walked into my bathroom.
‘Damn that girl didn’t know how sexy she was.’ I thought as I turned on the TV in my bedroom and changed the channel to Sportsnet to watch the highlights.
I could hear the water stop running as Hailey stepped out of the shower and grabbed the warm towel that I had placed in my bathroom. While she was showering I quickly threw the towel in the dryer so that it would be warm for her when she got out.
“MoMo you are amazing!” Yelled Hailey as she wrapped the warm towel around her body as it soaked up the water that was dripping down her body.
Hailey’s phone started ringing from her side of the bed. I leaned over and saw that It was her sister Ashley phoning.
“Babe.” I yelled, “ Your sister is trying to Face Time you.”
“Answer it! I will be out in a minute,”
I picked up her phone and hit accept as her sisters face appeared on the screen
“Oh Hello! You must be Morgan. Hailey never shuts up about you. Always Morgan did this, Morgan did that.” Teased Ashley.
“You know that because it’s on Face Time I can hear you.” Said Hailey as she walked into the room wearing my T-shirt and spandex short shorts. I handed her back her phone as she sat down beside me on the bed, immediately curling herself into my arms.
“No really?” Ashley teased “I didn’t know how Face Time worked.”
“You’re so annoying!” Hailey said as she rolled her eyes while smiling.
“You’re the one to talk, you are way more annoying than me,” stated Ashley as she looked over at me “don’t you agree Morgan?”
Laughing I lift my hands up in the surrender motion “I am not getting involved in this.”
“Good idea,” teased Hailey as she kissed my cheek.
“Chicken,” muttered Ashley as she smiled at me.
“I’m surprised she isn’t annoying you yet Morgan. Have you’ve noticed that she laughs at her own jokes? She gets that from our dad, they both think they are hilarious, but in reality, they aren’t.”
“Hey!” Exclaimed Hailey “you laugh at me all the time.”
“Keyword in the sentence is AT Hails, I’m laughing at you because you kill yourself laughing at your own jokes,” laughed Ashley.
It was nice to see Hailey interact with Ashley and to see their relationship even if it was only through Face Time. I could tell how close the girls were despite their three-year age gap. I guess you get close when you move to different places all the time and have to start over constantly. It must have been nice to have someone to always lean on when moving from place to place.
“So Morgan do you have any hot single friends,” joked Ashley “seeing as your such a good boyfriend maybe your friends will be too.”
“Actually a guy I train within Vancouver is around your age. He plays for the Islanders.” I said as I looked towards Hailey winking.
“Really what’s his name? I’ll Google him,” questioned Ashley
“Mat Barzal.”
All of a sudden Hailey burst out laughing as Ashley rolled her eyes as she started laughing as well. I couldn’t help but wonder if there was some type of inside joke between the sisters.
“Shut up Hails,” Ashley said as she started to blush.
“Why do I feel like I’m missing something?” I questioned as I looked between Hailey and Ashley.
“Ashley has said multiple times how good looking Mat Barzal is.” Said Hailey as she placed her hand on my leg as she repositioned the phone so Ashley could see both of us better.
“I mean come on, have you’ve seen his Instagram profile, he is jacked,” joked Ashley as she started to fan herself dramatically.
“Uh Morgan is definitely better looking and has a better body,” said Hailey as she sent a wink in my direction.
“You have to say that... he is still in the room!“ teased Ashley “ but you’ve always liked the blonde hair blue eyed boys.”
“And you’ve always liked the dark hair dark-eyed boys,” joked Hailey
“So Morgan, are you going to be a good wingman and set a girl up?” Asked Ashley in a teasing manner.
“Ya Morgan, are you?” added Hailey joining in with her sister. I hadn’t even officially met her sister yet and both of them were already ganging up on me.
“Fine,” I replied pretending to be annoyed.
“Thanks, Morgan.” Said Ashley as she smiled at me.
“How should I do this?” I asked Hailey “you claim to be the master of setting up people.”
“How was the game last night Hails?” asked Ashley. “It looked pretty fun from the snap chats you sent to me throughout the game.”
“It was so fun. Morgan here got an assist,” said Hailey as she lightly pushed me on the shoulder. “And then we went to a bar after to celebrate.”
“Oooh, How was the bar?”
“It was fun until some asshole grabbed me from behind and started grinding on me. Morgan stepped in pretty quickly and made sure I was safe.” Hailey said as she kissed my bicep when I placed my arm over her shoulder
“Wait, What?” stated Ashley as her eyes widened. “Wow, Men can sometimes be such pigs. But thank you, Morgan, for stepping in and taking care of my sister.”
“I would do anything for her. I just wish I could have gotten there faster.” I said as I looked down at Hailey as she curled in deeper into my arms.
“Actually, I was very impressed at how fast you got there and how protective you got,” whispered Hailey as she smiled up at me.
“Hails mom is calling me! I will talk to you love birds later,” said Ashley as she winked at Hailey.
“Morgan it was nice to meet you.” Said Ashley before she ended the FaceTime.

        Hailey’s POV
I was sitting on Morgan’s balcony while he was finishing up in the shower when my phone rang. As soon as I saw that it was Charlee my eyes lit up and I quickly clicked answer.
“Ugh, why did I talk myself into letting you do this?” Charlee questioned into the phone.
“Charlee I promise you, He is a really nice guy. Just give him a chance okay.” I Answered
“Fine! What’s his name again? Also what time do I need to meet you at the cafe?” Asked Charlee
“His name is Freddie! I met him through Morgan. I think you two will hit it off.” I replied as I smiled at the fact that my best friend was going to meet the tall and handsome ginger from the maple leafs.
“I still can’t believe I agreed to this...” Charlee laughed “but I will see you at the cafe in an hour.”
“See you then babe,” I said into the phone just as Morgan walked on to the balcony of his apartment where I was standing.
“Bye,” Charlee replied as she hung up the phone.
I turned towards Morgan giving him the thumbs-up signal
“Why are you giving me a thumbs up?” Questioned Morgan confused.
“That was Charlee she is down for the date with Freddie so we are all meeting up in an hour.”
“Oh great. I will go phone Freddie now to let him know about your scheme.” Said Morgan as he pulled out his phone to call his goalie.
The double date was really fun, and I could tell that Freddie and Charlee really hit it off.
……………………………………………………………………………………………
After the date, Morgan dropped me off at the house. I quickly said hello to the family and made my way back to my place. As I was unpacking my bag I could hear a knock at my door. “Come in,” I called as I had just finished placing my dirty clothes into the laundry basket.
Jess walked into the room smiling as sat down on the couch. “How was your weekend?”
“It started off good, I was able to be a part of his game-day routine, after the game we out for drinks,” I replied as I sat down on the couch beside her a tear slowly rolled down my cheek as flashbacks of the bar replayed in my mind. I quickly wiped my face in hopes Jess wouldn’t see the tear.
“Oh no, what happened?” Asked Jess as she pulled me into her arms in a mother’s embrace.
“While I was dancing with Steph when this guy grabbed me from behind and started grinding up on me to the beat of the music. Morgan quickly intervened and made me feel safe. I have never seen Morgan get so angry not even on the ice. He started yelling that ‘It should never matter what a girl is wearing because what she is wearing never justifies sexual assault or harassment. Women should never be afraid of what they are wearing because of guys like you’.”
“I am so sorry that that horrible man thought he could hurt you in the worst way possible. But I am so glad that Morgan was able to step in and protect you. However, I have no doubt in my mind that if he didn’t step in you would have been able to take care of your self. You are a lot stronger and braver than you believe you just need to have faith in yourself.”
“Thanks, Jessie,” I said as smiled at her. Thankful for the relationship between Jess, and me she was my best friend, my confidant, my role model, and most of all she was family.
“I’m not sure if he has told you yet Hails, but there is no doubt in my mind that, that man loves you. I can see it in his eyes every time he looks at you.” She said as she smiled at me. “You always told me that you wanted a romance straight out of a Nicolas Sparks movie or book. And after Lucas, you didn’t believe that real love existed. But you don’t have to look any longer that boy truly loves you.”
“I think I did as well Jess.” I smiled as I thought about my relationship with Morgan so far it was better than I could have ever imagined. Maybe I did find my one true Love? And I just had to kiss a few ugly frogs in order to realize I need to find my prince.
“I also forgot to tell you that I set up Charlee with Freddie, Morgan’s Goalie. We went on a double date this morning.”
“That sounds like a busy but fun weekend. Did Charlee and Freddie hit it off?” Jess questioned laughing as she smiled, she was interested in hearing about Freddie and Charlee.
I met Charlee in Vancouver we had both left Ontario for the ECE course in Vancouver. She moved back straight away and got a job with the school board whereas I stayed in Vancouver and got a Job with the Greens.
“What do you think about walking in my fashion show this season?” Asked Jess as she looked at me with hopeful eyes.
“Jess.” I started to say before she cut me off.
“ I know you like staying out of the spotlight but I really designed these pieces with you in mind. I was even thinking of getting some of your friends to walk in the show with you.”
I nodded my head smiling as I replied: “ I would love to Jess.”
“Yay,” Jess exclaimed as she pulled me in for a hug.
“On the topic of fashion. I was wondering if you would be able to design a suit for Morgan? I was thinking of giving it to him for Christmas.”
“Ooh, that sounds like a fun project! I would love to.”
“Thanks, Jess.”
“I will let you relax. It seems like you had a busy weekend.” Jess said as she stood up and made her way towards the door.
“Oh, I forgot to ask... Tom and I were wondering if you would like to come to Florida with us in early December for a family vacation?”
“That sounds so fun! I would love to come.” I exclaimed!
“Perfect! Tom and I are booking everything tonight when the children are asleep but we are thinking we will be going from December 12th-16th. Spending a couple of days at Disney and a couple of days in Fort Lauderdale.”
“This is so exciting,” I replied as I pulled out my phone to message Morgan
Hailey: Babe, Jess, and Tom just invited me to go to Florida with them in December! We are going December 12-16th.
Morgan: Really that’s awesome babe. I just checked we are playing in Florida those days!
Hailey: No way! This trip just got better.
