Fred Weasley stumbled into Charms class, out of breath and dishevelled. It turns out that despite staying up all night with George and wandering the castle with the marauder's map being one of his favourite activities, it didn't exactly mesh well with being a punctual student. Professor Flitwick paused his lesson, and gave one of those Fred-Weasley weary sighs, “Late again, I see, Fred.” he said in his usual squeaky voice.
“Very sorry, Professor,” Fred replied, giving Professor Flitwick the most apologetic smile he could muster. Before Fred could make his way to his seat, he stopped dead in his tracks. Peering around the room, he realised that Lee Jordan was no longer sitting in his usual seat. Instead, he sat next to a Slytherin student, Miles Bletchley, and was giving no effort to hide how miserable he was about it. Had Fred not been so devastated about being moved away from Lee, he would have found his predicament rather hilarious, but now he needed to figure out where he was sitting.
“Oh, Fred, can you please go sit next to miss Y/N L/N please?” said Professor Flitwick, noting the bemusement on Fred’s face. “Maybe you'll finally get some work done,” he muttered to himself under his breath before he resumed his lesson.
Fred Weasley scanned the room for his empty seat, his stomach lurching ever so slightly when his eyes landed on you.
Fred sauntered over to the empty seat next to you, determinedly ignoring the way his heart began to race in his chest. He’d noticed you in the corridor before, but he'd never had the chance to speak to you. Now, he was sitting right next to you in class, and he was determined to make the most of it.
“Hey there,” Fred said, flashing you a grin. “I'm Fred. Nice to meet you.”
You looked up at him, gave him a small smile and introduced yourself, but you didn't seem very talkative.
He really couldn't explain it, but you being as shy and reserved as you were, only made Fred’s need to be closer to you even stronger.
Fred tried to strike up a conversation, cracking a few jokes here and there, and making light of Lee’s unfortunate new seat in class. “Well, Y/N, I hope you feel lucky to be sitting next to me now instead of poor Lee. He's stuck with Bletchley, you know.” he chuckled, desperately trying to get a laugh out of you. Instead, you just gave him a polite nod and turned your attention back to Professor Flitwick.
As the class progressed, Fred tried his best to focus on the lesson and keep his eyes firmly on the textbook in front of him, and Merlin’s beard, was it impossible! It seems like no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't help but steal a glance at you, admiring your unwavering concentration and the way your fingers twirled your hair absentmindedly.
Finally, the class came to an end, and Fred and Lee met up with George and strolled to the Great Hall together for break time, plonking themselves down at the Gryffindor table. Fred’s mind was still preoccupied with thoughts of you, barely noticing Lee’s rant about his new seat, only half-heartedly piping up to express his sympathies, agreeing that it was such a shame to be separated from his best friend. George noticed his brother’s distracted state and nudged him, “What about your seat, Fredster?”
“Don’t call me Fredster!” he snapped, kicking George underneath the table, and then continuing as though he couldn't hear his brother yelp out in pain and a howl of laughter from Lee, his violent reaction being less to do with the stupid nickname and more to do with the fact that George had interrupted his daydreaming.
“Not too bad, I suppose,” appearing as nonchalant as he could about the whole thing, acting as if his stomach didn't perform backflips at the very thought of being beside you.
As the weeks went on, Fred persisted in trying to tempt you out of your shell. Fred wasn’t bad at charms by any means. In fact, he'd probably be great at if he put in the same amount of effort as he did with wreaking havoc amongst the castle. Yet, he took every opportunity he could to ask you questions in Charm class, acting as though he were struggling to get you to help him. You'd give him a look and scold him for not listening properly, turning to help him, and as you did so, your leg would brush his and a jolt of electricity would shoot through his entire body.
In the Charms class that followed, Professor Flitwick had the whole class on their feet, practising a bubble-head charm. Fred fumbled with his wand, making a complete pig’s ear of the movement, purposefully of course, and cried out in frustration, “What the bloody hell am I even doing wrong?”, his eyes darted quickly over to you to make sure you had heard him.
You rolled your eyes at him, walking over to his side, “Let me help you, Fred” and you placed your hand on top of his. If brushing your leg against his made Fred nervous, it was seriously nothing compared to how the touch of your hand on his made him feel. You directed his hand, mimicking the correct wand movement. “See, like this.”
“O-oh yes, I get it now, thank you.” he stammered, swiftly pulling his hand away from yours as if he'd just touched something scorching. He prayed that you didn't notice how hot and bothered he was and desperately tried to regain his composure.
As you were all packing up for the end of class, Fred asked Lee to wait up for him outside. Then, he turned to you sheepishly, scratching at the back of his neck and asked, “I’m sure it's no secret to you by now how hopeless I am at Charms.”
“Oh, well you're not really-”
“Don’t sugarcoat it, Y/N, I'm a mess.”
You giggled, making Fred’s heart soar, he might get addicted to hearing you laugh, especially when it's because of him.
“So, with that in mind, do you think you would mind tutoring me in Charms? I completely understand if you're busy-”
“Oh, no I'm not busy at all!” you interjected, eagerly, “Of course, I’ll tutor you, Fred!” you smiled at him kindly, “Does next week sound good?”
“Yes, that's brilliant, thank you!” unable to hide the elation in his voice, “You’re amazing, you are. I owe you my life, seriously, Professor Flitwick glares at me as if my days are numbered,” drawing out another one of your melodic laughs.
Fred bid you farewell and walked out of the classroom with an undeniable spring in his step, and a goofy smile plastered across his face.
Fred stepped out into the corridor, unable to shake the giddy feeling that lingered from his conversation with you. He spotted Lee leaning against the wall, waiting for him.
“Hey, Lee!” Fred greeted his friend enthusiastically as he walked towards him.
Lee raised an eyebrow, “Don’t know what you’re so cheery about, mate, we've got Snape next.”

The problem with Hogwarts was that rumors spread through its halls like fiendfyre.
It all started during the Quidditch match between Gryffindor and Ravenclaw. Harry had narrowly caught the Snitch after a Dementor false alarm and carried the team to victory, causing the stadium to explode into ground-shaking cheers. Waves of deep crimson and gold were pouring onto the field and you almost got trampled in the midst of it until someone pulled you into the center.
“There you are—I was looking all over for you,” Fred beamed. “You were watching, right?”
“I was sitting front row…you literally saw me, Fred,” you stated plainly.
“I know, but I wanted to make sure,” he winked at you, sidelining you into a hug. “You look very pretty, by the way. I think my hat looks better on you than me.”
“Anddd there’s the woman of the hour! He couldn’t stop staring at you—almost crashed into the teachers’ section ‘cause of that,” Lee came over and clasped your shoulder.
“That’s what that was all about? Freddie, you need to get it together!”
“Can’t help when you’re as alluring as a Veela,” the compliment rolled effortlessly off his tongue. He then tilted his chin down to kiss your forehead, and you didn’t bother pushing him away despite the fact that he was all sweaty after being up in the air.
A bright flash of light pulled you out of Fred’s embrace, and you blinked to see Colin standing there with a wide grin on his face, camera in hand.
“Just capturing the moment,” the younger Gryffindor said excitedly. “This is gonna be a good one!”
You thought nothing of it until you went down to the Great Hall for breakfast the following morning. You went over to find your Ravenclaw friends, who seemed to be huddled around something, staring at it intensely.
“Oh, hey Y/N!” Cho beamed brightly at you, moving over to make room for you to sit next to her. “Have you seen the latest school newsletter?”
You filled your plate and took a copy of the Hogwarts Daily Digest that Padma gave you. “No…what’s it all about?”
“Check page 3,” she told you. You took a bite of your toast first, pausing as you scanned over the page. At the front and center was a moving picture of you and Fred embracing, him pressing a kiss to your temple, smiles of pure bliss on both your faces. You had to admit that Colin had a way with pictures; so much so that you almost would’ve believed you and Fred were a true couple just by looking at the article.
“So we’re going out, apparently,” you said, taking another bite of your food, “...Interesting.”
“Several students were interviewed about it, and they’re wondering if you guys are,” Cho explained. “With the way he kept looking over at you during the game, and how he was searching for you after it ended.”
“I—I’ve ought to talk to Fred himself, see what he thinks about this—” you spluttered, feeling hot all of a sudden. “I just—we’re not even—”
“But you would be very cute together,” your best friend added. “I mean, you have known each other for how long now? It wouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone if you were.”
At the end of the day, you went to the library to squeeze in some quiet alone time for reading, curling up on one of the plushy sofas near the bookshelves. You were deep into a mythical book that Hermione recommended, fully zoned in for what felt like forever until the cushion sank a bit, indicating that someone had sat down next to you.
“What do you want, Fred,” you sighed without even looking up from your book. “Come to bother me again?”
He took the book from your hands in response and closed it.
“Hey, I was reading that—” you began.
“I wanted to ask you about the article,” he stated, “don’t you think Creevey’s quite the photographer?”
You scoffed. “If this is about us being a couple, you know we’re not.”
“I was going to suggest something else.”
“And what is that?”
“Given that half the school is talking about us already,” he referred to the whispers in the halls that followed you from class to class, “why not play into the rumors a bit?”
“So you’re suggesting that, what?”
“That we say we’re a couple.”
“...you want to pretend that we’re going out?”
“Why not?”
“That’s insane,” you shot him a glare. “What do either of us get out of it?”
“Practice, of course,” Fred had a proud look on, “but also, why not have some fun with it?”
You stopped and thought about it for a second. He was right—who were you to not want to have a bit of fun? After all, it was just Fred; it couldn’t be that hard to fake-date someone, especially when you had no real feelings for them.
“Fine, but only on one condition.”
“What’s that, love?”
“Promise not to fall in love with me?” You stuck your hand out towards him.
Fred took it and gave it a firm shake, his signature mischievous grin making its appearance. “As long as you don’t fall for me either.”
“Dream on.”
He leans forward, voice dropping to a low whisper. “10 galleons says you’ll fall in love with me first.”
“Oh, please. 20 says you won’t even last half as long.”
“You’re on.”
So it began—settling into the whole routine was surprisingly easy. But of course, it was probably easier since you had money on the line; asides from George, you and Fred were the most competitive people in the entire school. You’d do anything for extra money, glory, and infinite bragging rights.
Making it a point to one-up each other, you began to brainstorm ways to really play up the whole “fake girlfriend” thing.
i. the pda competition, part 1
Monday afternoon’s Potions lesson proceeded as always, with Snape’s annoying, drawling voice instructing you on what to do.
Today’s class was boring but ended early, the only downside being that you were assigned a hefty load of homework.
“By the beginning of Wednesday’s class, you shall turn in to me two feet of parchment on the history of Strengthening Solution and its’ properties…” Snape ordered, “...for now, follow the instructions on the board. Ingredients are in the back. I expect the utmost perfection and accuracy…those who fail shall not be tolerated.”
Groaning internally, you headed to the back of the classroom towards the supply cabinets, Fred following close behind. Either Snape was out to get you both or it was sheer luck that had you paired together for this assignment.
“Wait, you forgot something,” Fred called out as you were about to walk away.
You turned around, a snarky reply ready. “What is—”
You didn’t even have the chance to finish your sentence when he grabbed you by the wrist and tugged you into his chest, kissing you square on the lips. You were completely taken by surprise and had no time to react whatsoever.
Low wolf-whistles and “ooohs” reverbrated throughout the entire classroom as you broke apart.
“What was that for?” you hissed.
There was a devilish grin on his face, and you so desperately wanted to wipe it right off him. “Just trying to be a good fake boyfriend, of course,” he whispered into your ear.
“Touch me again without warning and I’ll break your nose,” you said in a low tone, ignoring the heat rising up your cheeks.
“Miss Y/L/N…Mr. Weasley…” Snape said lowly, “...back to your seats, both of you. This is a classroom, not a bedroom. Get to work.”
Several students giggled at this and you huffed, heading back to your seat. You didn’t speak more than a few sentences to Fred for the remainder of the lesson, face still flushed from the sudden incident. He kept stealing glances at you as you worked in silence, adding the ingredients into your bubbling cauldron with careful, precise movements.
“That’s 1-0 to me,” he reminded you. “Better hurry and catch up, or I’m winning those Galleons.”
“Don’t get ahead of yourself,” you muttered, uncapping the bottle in front of you and pouring some of the liquid in.
ii. the pda competition, part 2
After Fred had kissed you in the middle of a packed classroom, you were determined to get back at him, racking your brain for ideas.
You sat under a sprawling tree by the Great Lake with Cedric, Cho, Padma, Ernie, and several other Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw students. Somehow, you got lucky and all had matching free periods today, taking the opportunity to have a picnic by the water together.
“A little birdie told me that you and a special someone were going out,” Cedric pointed a finger at you, the other arm slung around Cho’s shoulders. “Now what’s going on?”
“They’ve always been mad about each other, only took them a million years to see it,” Ernie butted in. “Isn’t it obvious? One would think they’re already married at this point, though.”
“Who’s married to who?” you heard someone ask from behind you.
“Speak of the devil,” Ernie said, “there he is!”
“Was going to check on you—see you at supper?” Fred lightly touched your cheek. You nodded blindly, the skin of his hand hot on your face.
“Okay, I’ll meet you there.”
You turned back around to see everyone smirking at you knowingly.
“What?” you questioned, adjusting the collar of your shirt as if nothing had happened.
“Aren’t you two the cutest,” Cho laughed breathily, “Ernie was right. It’s like you’re married.”
“Oh shut up, we’re still much too young for that.”
“Not for long!”
Of course the only empty seat at the Gryffindor table that evening was next to Fred, and he made sure that you were sitting as close to him as humanly possible. All it would take was an extra few inches and you’d fully be sitting on his lap. You shook off the embarrassment and snapped back into it, determined to win the bet.
“I missed you all day, you know,” he admitted, placing a dinner roll onto your plate for you. “Where have you been?”
“By the lakes,” you said matter-of-factly. “Where else would I be?”
“With me, obviously.”
“I’d rather be anywhere else.”
“Well that hurt,” he pretended to look hurt. “I thought I was your favorite.”
“Second to last,” you joked. “Hey, wait—there’s something on your mouth.”
“Where?” he tried motioning around with his fingers but to no avail.
“Right…here…” you murmured, gently grasping his chin and pressing a lingering kiss to the corner of his lip, tasting a hint of the sweet cranberry sauce he’d been eating on the tip of your tongue. Loud gasps erupted through the Great Hall at the sudden private but public display.
Fred inhaled sharply—he knew you were bold, but like this? For once, the jokester had nothing sarcastic to counter you with and was at a loss for words.
When you pulled away, both yours and his faces were a shade of deep scarlet.
“Cat got your tongue?” you smirked, discreetly slipping a sheet of paper into his back pocket. “That’s 1-1 now, Fred.”
Again, Fred was left speechless.
“I feel like I’m interrupting something very…” Ron coughed, damn near choking on his chicken leg. “Intimate. Scandalous. Very—”
“Shut it, Ronald,” you cut him off. “Can’t a girl snog her boyfriend when she wants?”
More jaws dropped at your reply, and you simply continued eating, a victorious grin on your face. Fred looked down and fished the note out of his pocket, unfolding the smooth parchment to reveal your tidy penmanship.
Now who’s the flustered one? you know where to find me if you need me xx
You were so going to win.
iii. the serenade
You found yourself sitting on the bench watching the Gryffindor Quidditch team practice—it was Fred’s idea to show up to as many of them as possible to really sell the whole “fake dating” thing. You didn’t mind all that much, as you got bored easily and liked to have a change of scenery every so often while you were studying.
A loud, abrupt screech caused you to look up from your textbook and you winced, covering your ears.
“You’re just too good to be true…can’t take my eyes off of you…” a melodic voice began flowing across the stadium. Confused, you set your book down and stood up, looking around for the source of the noise.
“You’d be like Heaven to touch, I wanna hold you so much…at long last love has arrived…”
Fred suddenly appeared from the commentator’s box, holding a microphone. He casually leaned against the pole before sliding down and hitting the bleachers, gracefully making his way down the steps.
“...And I thank God I’m alive…” his eyes remained focused on you, blazing gold and green. “You’re just too good to be true…”
“What the—”
He spun around and pointed at you, the corners of his lips quirking up in a childish grin, “...Can’t take my eyes off of you.”
“HIT IT, WOOD!” you heard someone (was that Lee?) yell, and music began blasting from the speakers.
Your friends were eyeing you with delight, fully entertained by the fact that you had absolutely no clue what was happening. Fred continued singing while he sauntered down the bleachers with a grace that you had never seen.
“I love you, baby, and if it's quite alright
I need you, baby, to warm the lonely night
I love you, baby, trust in me when I say
Oh, pretty baby, don't bring me down, I pray
Oh, pretty baby, now that I found you, stay
And let me love you, baby, let me love you”
A blush coated your cheeks as he finally approached you, taking one of your hands in his and twirling you around. He held your gaze the entire time, eyes alight with what looked like genuine joy and passion. The rest of your classmates joined in as they crowded around you, joining together in one voice.
It was impossible to hold back the smile creeping up your face as Fred continued to sing—he was undeniably charming, and you had to admit, this was well worth suffering a brief loss for.
“Oh pretty baby, trust in me when I say…” the final lyrics left his mouth and everyone burst into applause. He made a show of bowing dramatically and kissing your hand in an exaggerated motion.
You rolled your eyes at the overly extravagant gesture. But deep down, you had enjoyed every second of the impromptu serenade.
Within minutes after it ended, Fred’s musical spectacle was the talk of the school. Students nudged each other in the corridors as you passed by, whispering words of encouragement, saying how they wished for a relationship like yours, and wondering where they could possibly find someone like Fred.
You felt him slip something into your robe’s pocket. Fred had sidled up next to you as you headed up the stairs to the common room, still grinning widely.
“2-1,” he reminded you, kissing your cheek before turning to the Fat Lady and uttering the password. He stepped through the portrait hole and turned back to wait for you, then walked all the way inside. “Better continue that game of catch up, I might just steal the title of ‘best fake partner ever’ from you.”
There’s that beautiful smile, the note read. Keep it on for me, will you?
iv. the nightmare
Your body seemed to have a mind of its own, because it was 3:27 a.m. and you were wide awake after barely squeezing in a few hours of sleep.
Nothing you did worked; even the Potion for Dreamless Sleep had failed to keep the nightmares at bay. You didn’t last long before jolting awake, beads of sweat forming at your forehead and chest heaving with raggedy, jagged breaths.
After several minutes of tossing and turning you gave up, quietly tiptoeing down the stairs to the common room. The fireplace was on, indicating that someone was already there—
“Y/N?” Fred turned around from his spot on the couch to look at you. “What’re you doing up at this hour?”
You yawned, “I could ask you the same thing.”
“Finishing an assignment,” he sighed, rubbing his forehead. Sheets of parchment, a vial of ink, and several books were spread out on the coffee table. “You?”
“Nothing,” you lied, sitting down next to him. “Couldn’t sleep.”
He didn’t miss the hoarse tone in your voice nor your tear-stained face, stopping what he was doing to fully focus on you. “Now I know that’s not true. What’s bothering you, really?”
“I said I’m fine, just can’t sleep.” You let out a shuddering sigh and attempted to will the tears away, but your vision began to blur. “Go finish your work—”
“Hey.” Fred’s voice was soft. “Come here.”
His arms gingerly wrapped around your trembling frame to envelop you into a tight hug. He reached one hand up to smooth out your hair as you shook with silent sobs, your hands curling into the fabric of his robes as if holding onto him would keep you from slipping away and losing yourself again.
Fred was never one to be patient, but he knew that you just needed this moment free of chaos. So he waited, laying there with you as he continued murmuring soothing words into your ear, gently rubbing your back; he’d wait for as long as he’d need to.
You didn’t know how much time passed until the tears ran themselves dry and your throat felt like it had been scraped raw.
“Want to tell me what happened?” he suggested. “But only if you’re comfortable, that is.”
You hesitated, wondering if it was a good idea to tell him. Maybe he’d think you were strange…but seeing how he looked so genuine in that moment changed your mind.
“I lost you…I lost everyone. I watched you die, Fred.” Your voice was cracked and raw, which sent a pang through his chest. The image of Fred’s lifeless body trapped between the rubble flashed across your vision, feeling as if it was wrapping its cold fingers around your throat. “I watched you all die and I couldn’t save you.”
“But I’m alive and well right now, aren’t I?” he assured you calmly, “I’ll be here for as long as you want me around. You’ll have to fight to the death to get rid of me.”
Managing a broken laugh, you looked up at him. “Really?”
“Really. What are fake boyfriends for, anyway?” His hand found its place against your cheek, fingers gently skimming across your skin. You leaned into his touch and let out a sigh, lips just barely brushing over his palm.
“No one’s here, Fred…you don’t need to pretend.”
“I know I don’t.” Any and all traces of half-witted sarcasm were gone; wiped clean off his face. Instead, his eyes were glossed over with concern as they raked over yours. “Figured I could keep you company? Since I didn’t want you to be alone in your head like this.”
“I’d like that.”
He then passed a familiar folded square to you, and you opened it with a smile.
I’m here, whenever you need - F.W
v. the hospital wing run-in
“For Godric’s sake, how many more times will I have to see you in here?” Madam Pomfrey demanded as she hurried around, setting a metal tray by your bedside. “This is the third time this month.”
“Sorry,” you winced as you shifted your injured leg onto the pillow she’d set out.
“What is it this time?”
“I broke my ankle.”
“Doing what, exactly?”
Pursing your lips, you elected to tell her the modified version of the story, which was the one where you had tripped while going down the stairs, not the one that included running down the Astronomy Tower after sneaking up there for a dare (the twins’ doing).
She shook her head in disbelief, glancing over the cuts on your face and fixing the bandages around your foot. “You’ll be in here for a few days. We’ll have to regrow the bones in your foot and ankle…my, how someone can break this many bones just from missing a step, I can’t seem to understand…what are all of you doing here?”
You followed her gaze to where Hermione, Ginny, Cho, and Fred were standing by the hospital wing’s entrance, alight with excitement upon seeing that you were awake.
“Guys—”
“Miss Granger, Miss Weasley, and Mr. Weasley, need I remind you that no visitors are allowed at this time! I advise that you all head back,” Madam Pomfrey ordered sharply.
“But we haven’t seen her all last night and this morning! Can we just stay for a minute,” Hermione begged. “Please?”
The older woman sighed as she scanned your friends (and fake? boyfriend’s) desperate, pleading faces. “...Alright, then. Don’t stay too long and for Godric’s sake, let her breathe.”
They immediately crowded around your bed and Fred walked over to your side, crouching down so that you were eye level with him.
“There’s my princess,” his charming persona was back in full force, and he smoothly brushed a few stray hairs out of your face. For what felt like the eleventh time, he was swooping in to kiss your cheek. Not that you were counting. “How’re you feeling?”
“Better now that you’re here,” you winked as you attempted to prop yourself into an upright position, but failed, giving up and flopping back down. “Ow. My foot.”
Ginny pretended to throw up on Hermione, who then elbowed her in the stomach. “Ow!” she yelped. “What was that for?”
“Let’s leave the happy couple alone,” she hissed, and they slowly backed away to give you some space.
Fred pulled up a chair next to your bedside, propping his chin in his hand to stare at you. “I’m sorry, really. I didn’t mean for you to end up with five broken bones.”
“And a concussion, a killer headache, and not to mention dozens of sore muscles,” you grimaced, but felt a slight ache in your chest when you realized he looked genuinely guilty. “I don’t blame you, really. I mean, I was just as stupid and reckless. I definitely could’ve been more careful but I wasn’t.”
“I’m supposed to mess up your lipstick,” he groaned, “not your bones.”
“Someone took ‘public displays of affection’ the wrong way,” you said sarcastically, and then there was a brief moment of silence before you both burst into laughter.
“Damn right he di—OW, Hermione!”
“Gin, let’s go!” With that, the two girls left the hospital wing, leaving the two of you alone.
“Why are you here, anyway? Hermione and Ginny are because they’re my friends, and you’re my—”
“—lovely, charming, undeniably handsome boyfriend, of course. Why wouldn’t I be here?” Fred finished your sentence for you.
“Right,” your voice was dripping with sarcasm, “I just can’t seem to get rid of you, can I? It seems like you’re always around.”
“And yet, you don’t push me away,” a smile tugged at his lips. “Which clearly means that I’m just that irresistible. I don’t need a charm or some silly love potion to reel you in.”
“Don’t think that because I’m incapacitated, this game is over,” you warned him. “I will beat your arse to a pulp, and you’ll be twenty Galleons lighter. I bet you’re madly in love with me already.”
“Believe what you want, my darling,” he sing-songed, twirling his wand between his fingers. “But we all know I’ve already won this game.”
“Yeah, right. We’re tied now, by the way. That’s for getting me injured.”
“Oi! You can’t just—”
“Shh…don’t come crying to me ‘till you lose.”
He ended up staying overnight.
You didn’t protest at all.
Neither did Madam Pomfrey later that evening after seeing him slumped over on your bed, fast asleep, one hand clutching yours like you were the only thing he had left to lose.
vi. the howler
For once you managed to get to the Great Hall before Fred did. The bloke was always criminally late or ridiculously early to everything; it was almost laughable how there was no in between for him.
He finally showed up just ten minutes before breakfast was supposed to end, breathing hard with his hair all messed up.
“What’d I miss?” he asked you.
“Nothing,” you responded. “Just another ordinary day…”
A gust of wind suddenly swept through the hallway causing the napkins to flutter in the air. A giant grey owl came swooping down onto the table and landed straight in front of Fred, clutching an envelope in its curved talons.
“What’s Errol doing here? We’re not supposed to get our daily mail til’ tomorrow,” Ron gawked, “surprised that he’s here given the number of times he’s collapsed mid-delivery—oh blimey Fred, you must be in trouble! You’ve got a Howler!”
Several Gryffindors around you giggled at this.
With a slight look of confusion and fear, Fred carefully removed the seal on the bright red envelope. Molly Weasley’s booming voice immediately came bursting from the pages.
“FRED WEASLEY, HOW COULD YOU NOT TELL ME THAT YOU WERE DATING MY FUTURE DAUGHTER-IN-LAW! I AM DISAPPOINTED IN YOU—Y/N dear, if you’re hearing this, I’m very happy for you and hope to see you at the Burrow soon, I’ll make sure to whip up some homemade custard for you—YOU OUGHT TO TREAT HER RIGHT, BOY, OR ELSE! I BROUGHT YOU INTO THIS WORLD AND I SURE AS MERLIN CAN TAKE YOU RIGHT OUT!”
A silence fell over the entire Great Hall and Fred sat there, in shock. The red envelope folded itself up and then burst into flames, its ashes crumbling to the floor.
“I’ve never seen him turn that red,” George sniggered. “You’re bloody brilliant, Y/N.”
“Y-you did this?” Fred spluttered.
“Can’t say I didn’t,” you hummed, patting his head affectionately. “Your mum was bound to find out, one way or another.”
“And you thought this was the best idea?”
“Aww, is little Freddie all embarrassed?” you teased. “Never thought I’d live to see that day.”
“Quit gloating,” the redhead grumbled. “You haven’t won yet. Better sleep with one eye open tonight.”
vii. the pda competition, part ∞
As it turned out, continuing to slip into your fake relationship only became more fun as the days and weeks dragged on. And being competitive only added to the fun, as you were scrambling to one-up each other.
You often opted to hold his hand when walking from place to place, which wasn’t difficult given that you were almost always with him now and had to sell the idea that you really were together. His hands were rough and calloused from all those hours working on joke shop prototypes, but they were still surprisingly comforting. A way to keep you grounded when your head got stuck in the clouds.
Fred’s signature move was, of course, dropping random kisses on your cheek when you didn’t expect it. Sometimes, when he was feeling bolder than usual, that would change to the tender spot between your ear and jaw, your shoulder, or your nose. And each of those times he made sure they were extra drawn-out and that you were in a crowded area so others would see it. The courtyard. The Quidditch pitch. The classroom (two of those incidents were in Potions, much to Snape’s dismay. He didn’t even bother taking points off due to being too disgusted).
“I have a massive exam today,” he declared loudly to you as you stood in front of his upcoming class together. “I think I’m going to need a kiss.”
“Why?” you scoffed. “What do you need that for?”
“For good luck,” Fred said, “it’s kind of a tradition, isn’t it?”
“You…want a kiss for good luck?” you started.
“I’m waiting…” he sang, face turned slightly in an invitation. You sighed and went up on your tiptoes, doing as he asked. “Thank you. But you have terrible aim…you missed.”
“I fear you’re having way too much fun with this,” you muttered. “Don’t make excuses. My lips are not going near yours unless they absolutely need to now.”
“Oh come on, you know you’re having loads of fun too,” he called out as he walked into the classroom. “Catch you later, sweetheart!”
viii. the butterbeer (alt: the pda competition, part ∞)
It was the day of another Hogsmeade outing and you were hand-in-hand with Fred as you walked down the cobblestone streets together. You had planned to spend the day alone for the most part and join Cho for a meal, but Fred had cornered you at breakfast and insisted you go on a date with him.
“To keep up the façade,” he insisted. “Wouldn’t people find it odd if the castle’s favorite couple wasn’t together?”
You nodded and didn’t protest further; you had no energy to do so anyway. It was far too cold for your taste; you had been dragged out without having time to grab your gloves, blowing hot hair into your hands that were steadily growing numb.
“Love,” he called for you as he took your hands in his, “oh, your fingers feel like ice.”
“No…shit…” your teeth chattered as you attempted to respond steadily. “Might lose ‘em if we don’t hurry up and get inside—”
“Wait one second,” Fred said as you two stopped right outside the Three Broomsticks, wasting no more time in taking his gloves off and handing them to you to put on, while he wrapped his house scarf around your neck. “There. Let’s head in.”
“But—”
“Boyfriend duties, remember?” he winked at you as he pushed the door open, holding it for you to step inside first. “Come on. I think a butterbeer or two’ll warm you up.”
Fred’s hand remained on the small of your back, pressing in gently to lead you to a cozy booth in the back. The added warmth felt quite nice, you thought, but you also wondered how he managed to stay like a human furnace when it the weather outside was so dreadfully cold.
It was hard not to stare at him; catching his gaze every so often while sipping your drink. His hair was all tousled from the frigid winds; you took notice of the way it slightly curled out at the ends, glowing under the hazy yellow bar lights. It was annoyingly endearing how he could look so flawless without any effort and even more so that you didn’t have anything snarky to say.
“Fred, I think we’re being followed…” you whispered as you scanned the near vicinity, fingers brushing against the rim of your mug. There in the far opposite corner sat Padma, Ernie, Cedric, and Cho, attempting to look nonchalant as if they weren’t half-stalking you but they were doing a rather terrible job at it. You quickly looked away.
“So? Isn’t that what we want—for people to see us?” he countered with a tone of confidence. His voice dropped low as he continued to speak to you. “Why don’t we give them a show? No need to be so private.”
Your face burned. “What do you—”
“Not like that,” he chuckled lowly, “what did you think I meant?”
“I…”
Fred paused, then raised his hand and brushed something off your cheek with his thumb. “You’ve got something on your face.”
“Oh, so we’re playing that game now, are we?”
“Indeed, my lady.”
You scoffed quietly and imitated his motion, reaching up to smooth out the crease that had formed between his brows. “Put a smile on your face, why don’t you? You look better that way.”
“I always look good, though.”
“I look better than your greasy arse.”
“Oh, shut up.”
“Oh yeah?” you challenged. “I’d like to see you tr—”
Before you could say anything else and before he could stop himself from what he was doing, Fred placed a hand on the nape of you neck and pulled you in, kissing you without another word. All protests left behind flew right out the window (along with your morals, too, you thought) and for a split second, it almost didn’t feel like you were pretending at all.
When you broke apart eventually, breaths a little heavy, neither of you needed to look over to see that your friends were gaping in shock, mouths dropped wide open. Sure, Fred was confident and cocky and you were equally so, but both of you would be lying if you said this didn’t take you by surprise.
“You still keeping track?” His voice still had that low, almost husky tone to it. He was cupping your cheek now, and you let him keep doing so. “There can only be one victor, right?”
“Wouldn’t forget it,” you exhaled. “You think we look convincing enough right now?”
“Without a shadow of a doubt.”
ix. the thunderstorm
The day’s exciting Care of Magical Creatures lesson was cut thirty minutes short due to the heavy downpour that had suddenly came crashing down, bringing with it a booming thunderstorm and soaking all your clothes within minutes.
“Well, that’s it fer today, everyone,” Hagrid announced, “now let’s head back inside, don’ want yeh to catch a cold, we’ll continue when the weather lets up…”
You wrapped your cloak tighter around yourself and flipped the hood on over your head, eyes narrowing as you stared up at the suddenly stormy grey sky. It just had to be on the one day you got to go outside and do something exciting, damn it….
It was freezing, nearly as horrible as that one day in Hogsmeade, and you wanted nothing more in that moment than to simply curl up by the fireplace with Hermione, the Patil twins, and Cho, and talk all evening long. If you could even make it back to the castle in one, unfrozen piece, maybe you’d at least get your hands on some hot chocolate from the kitchens…
A warm hand found yours amidst the strong winds, and all of a sudden you didn’t feel so cold anymore.
As if he had read your mind, Fred said, “how about we sneak into the kitchens and grab something to drink? Hot chocolate, perhaps?”
“Sounds perfect,” you smiled and he draped an arm over your shoulders, bringing you into his side. It felt so natural now, like this wasn’t part of some long-standing bet to fool the whole school; as if you were just two best friends trying to keep warm in subpar temperatures. And it was almost too easy to get used to it.
“Oblivious idiots. I told them for years that they’d be perfect together and it’s only this year that they start going out,” George exclaimed from several yards behind, walking side-by-side with Lee Jordan. “Dunno why it took them so long.”
“Love takes time, obviously,” said Lee as he watched Fred lean into your ear and say something, and you giggled lightly in response, “and now, what matters is that I finally have an excuse to make fun of them during Quidditch matches.”
“Oh—good point.”
“And you’ve noticed that he stopped pranking her? Unlike him, isn’t it?”
“Wait…” George paused as he took in Lee’s questions. His mouth formed an ‘o’ in realization. “He’s utterly whipped, that git.”
“What happens when boyfriend duties overcome prankster duties…this is perfect. Professor Flitwick owes me 2 galleons. I called it that he’d fall first!”
“You bet on them?” George squawked. “With Flitwick?”
“Don’t tell me you didn’t either,” Lee laughed, “I know you did too.”
The expression on George’s face shifted into one of defeat. “I lost,” he muttered, “I owe McGonagall 3 galleons.”
x. verum exeat (let the truth come out)
The Gryffindor common room was alight with chatter once again. After a long, grueling week of exam revisions, Quidditch practice, and a brutal match to be remembered, Lee and the twins decided that a small celebration was in order. They had originally planned on inviting half the damn school but after arguing with Hermione, had to shrink the party down to just their smaller, usual friend group (they swore up and down that they’d clean up and not get detention like last time, but she wouldn’t buy it).
But you knew that if things had the Weasley twins’ names pasted next to them, they’d be far from peaceful; as far as you could possibly get—no matter how big or small.
“Oh, there you are,” you heard someone say from behind, and turned around to see that it was Hermione.
“Not drinking?”
“Someone’s got to take care of the boys after they go wild, right?” she explained. “Besides…I can’t stand the taste of firewhisky. It burns.”
You offered a tired half-smile and agreed. “Yeah. You’re right.”
Hermione seemed to be deep in thought for a moment until she told you, “You’re very lucky, you know.”
“What are you talking about?”
“To have Fred, that is. To find someone who’s that in love with you, it’s quite rare.”
“Oh, please,” you tried to suppress a laugh, “I told you why we’re doing what we’re doing.”
“And?” Hermione raised an eyebrow at you, “feelings change. Bet or no bet, he cares about you and anyone would be crazy not to see that. Ronald is half-blind and he can tell, too. You can’t possibly tell me that everything you’ve done up to this point has been a lie.”
“It’s meant nothing to me,” you said bitterly. “I hate him.”
“You don’t mean that.”
“I do. And it doesn’t help that he’s everywhere,” you stopped to take a swig of firewhisky, “and I can’t stand it!”
“Do you not, really?”
“I do, but I—”
“You what?”
“I just hate him!”
“What do you mean?”
“What do you think? I hate everything about him!” you exclaimed, exasperated. “I hate the way he always tries to compete with me, I hate the way he doesn’t take things seriously, I hate that stupid, annoying little smirk he has on his face half the time I see him—”
You inhaled quickly; it felt like you’d just drank an entire vital of Veritaserum with the way that words were tumbling out of your mouth. Hermione gave you a look that seemed to say ‘Go on,’ so you did, “—I hate the way he walks down to the Great Hall every morning with his annoyingly perfect messy hair, I hate the way he risks freezing his arse off to give me his favorite gloves so that I don’t get hypothermia, I hate the way it’s so easy for him to kiss—borderline snog me like it’s nothing, I hate how this is all just supposed to be a game of pretend, and—and most of all, I hate the way he made me fall in love with him without even trying. I hate the way I don't actually hate him. Not even close, not even a little bit…not even at all…”
“You…really mean that?”
You whirled around to see that Fred was standing right behind you with his hands behind his back, eyes hopeful, and you felt your heart drop down to your stomach. “Fred—”
“Y/N, I—”
Suddenly it seemed like the walls were closing in on you from all sides, the room spinning; and then, everything around you jumbled into one chaotic mess of noise and color. Without looking to see either his or Hermione’s reactions, without caring that half the room had stopped to see what was going on, you pushed past your friends and quickly clambered out of the portrait hole.
“What was that about?” Ron’s nose crinkled in confusion. “So much for being a cute couple. Now this is just sad.”
“Will you shut it, Ronald,” Hermione whacked him on the shoulder.
“OW—”
“Stop being so dramatic! Don’t let me catch you drinking even one more shot or I will drag your arse back to bed,” she snapped.
“Pleeeease do, I would lov—ow, ow, OW! OKAY!” Ron exclaimed as she pinched his ear and began dragging him away. “Okay! I’ll leave them alone, I’ll stop…”
Chest heaving and vision blurring with tears, you rushed outside, desperate for a breath of fresh air. It was quiet in the courtyard asides from the faint trickling of water but that did little to calm you down; it was still too loud, too chaotic, too much. Sitting down at the marbled edge of one of the fountains, you tried to catch your breath and balance, but the world still kept spinning…it felt like it wouldn’t stop spinning; for Merlin’s sake. All you wanted to do was crawl into a hole and disappear forever, or jump off the Astronomy tower and fly off to a distant land. You didn’t want to have to worry about how you poured your entire damn heart out in the middle of the common room about your fake boyfriend.
Your fake boyfriend that you realized, with horror, you had begun to develop not-fake feelings for.
A chill ran through you at that moment and you shivered.
Then the feeling of something warm—a thick coat—being draped over your shoulders shook you out of your trance. You instinctively slid it tighter around yourself.
“Thought I might find you out here,” said Fred. You opened your mouth, ready to ask how in Godric’s name he knew where you were at all times when he didn’t even have the Maurader’s Map anymore, but stopped. This was Fred Weasley, and you had spent an unhealthy amount of time around each other over the past several months that he had to have picked up on your little habits. He was more observant than he let on.
“What are you doing out here?” You couldn’t bring yourself to look up at him.
“I couldn’t leave you alone outside to freeze, could I?” he asked, sitting down next to you. “What kind of boyfriend would that make me?”
“Please, just…” you inhaled sharply, “I can’t do this. You won. I lost. The game’s over, Weasley.”
“On a last-name basis now, are we? Ouch,” he said jokingly, but dropped the teasing lilt in his voice when he noticed your eyes starting to water. “Talk to me, Y/N.”
“It just isn’t fair,” you whispered, looking down at your feet.
“What do you mean?”
“It’s not fair,’” your voice faltered, “you’re not supposed to do that. To do this.”
“Do what?”
“To sabotage the bet. To make me lose track of the scores.”
“Well, I stopped counting, you know,” Fred admitted, tucking a hair behind your hair. “There’s no need to keep track anymore, I think we’ve done enough convincing, don’t you think?”
“But that’s the problem!” your voice cracked as you finally turned to look at him. “It isn’t that I’m probably going to be dozens of Galleons poorer after this. It’s that I’m feeling something I shouldn’t, that…that you made me fall in love with you—”
“Y/N—”
“—I hate the way I care about you far more than I should,” you continued on, “and I hate myself even more for even wishing what we had was real. Because it was all fake, Fred, and you know it. We were faking it, and—”
“Y/N,” he repeated more sternly this time, causing you to stop mid sentence. “Look, I already told you I stopped keeping track. After that night in the common room….that’s when I realized I couldn’t. Lee damn near had to hit me over the head and force-feed me Veritaserum to admit that I was in deep. Galleons and glory be damned, I didn’t care about any of that anymore; it was easy for me to pretend when I was already in love with you.”
“But we weren’t supposed to fall in love, that was the rule,” you sniffed, wiping a tear from your cheek, “I thought we were supposed to follow the rules.”
Fred’s lips twitched into a smirk. “Well, I think some rules are made to be broken.”
And then, he was closing the gap and connecting your lips in a deep kiss. The gentle motion cut through the chilly evening air, washing over you in a blazing heat that had you melting into a haze of firewhisky, adrenaline, and something that smelled distinctly like a crackling log fire and cinnamon.
You had kissed him multiple times before this, but this one felt different than all the rest. It didn’t feel like you were doing it for show in the slightest; it felt genuine and warm and so real.
And the biggest difference was that you never wanted it to come to an end.
“So?” The grin on his face was palpable; contagious, as you broke apart, “What do you say, we stop faking it?”
“Are you fake breaking up with me?” you gasped and pretended to look surprised. “Way to ruin the moment.”
“I’m asking to real-date you, darling,” he said.
“There’s no money on the line this time?”
“No,” he hummed as he leaned forward to kiss you a second time and pretended to think for a second, “but there might be something else on the line instead.”
“And what is that ‘something else?’”
“You’ll have to wait a few years and see.”
xi. the promise
—FOUR YEARS LATER—
Fred was a great planner, of course. “Brilliant,” Harry would say, “absolutely brilliant.” He might’ve been a jokester, but he was a very organized jokester. He always knew what he was going to do and when.
So when it came to you, he thought he had a plan. He thought he had it planned for years; he was thinking fireworks, extravagant displays in the sky, taking you on a sunset ride across Romania on one of Charlie’s dragons. Something to match your free and daring spirit.
But, the moment ended up presenting itself on its own.
It was an ordinary night with yours and Hermione’s families joining the Weasleys for a quiet weekend at the Burrow. Mr. Weasley was listening intently as Mr. Granger and Harry explained the function of rubber ducks and the Internet in great detail, and the rest of you chatted with your parents, Mrs. Weasley, and Mrs. Granger by the kitchen counter about post-graduation plans.
Mrs. Granger had made an off-hand, passing comment about how lovely your silver bracelet—the one with charms of yours’ and Fred’s initials and Patronuses dangling from it—looked on your wrist. And then Fred was saying, “I know something else that would look great on her,” and taking a small box out of his pocket and flipping it open, revealing a blinding bright, silvery diamond ring.
Even as shouts of realization and cheers of joy rose up from around the kitchen, the world seemed to fade away into complete silence when he put the ring on your finger and encircled his arms around your torso, kissing your cheek and whispering into your ear,
“I told you there was something else, didn’t I?”

summary: you seem to have fallen for your best friend, which you could handle if only he didn’t constantly touch you word count: 3.2k masterlist
It was official: you were stupid.
Only a complete idiot would fall for their best mate and here you’ve gone and done it. Because there was no other explanation for this feeling in your stomach as you looked across the Great Hall and watched Fred Weasley tell some stupid joke to his friends and wishing nothing more than to be the one he told the joke to.
He wasn’t even supposed to be here; just earlier today, Snape had given him detention.
While working on the assigned potion, he decided to mix things up to make you laugh after your bad day.
Before class started Snape decided to ruin the day and give everyone’s essays back. You flunked. Hard. After a big explosion and an awful lecture from Snape, any of Fred’s afternoon plans were ruined. For you.
You stood there, frozen in shock, trying to figure out how to go on with your life from here.
But how could you? This realization felt like the worst thing that’s ever happened to you—right after becoming friends with Fred Weasley himself.
You must’ve stood frozen in place for too long because he caught your eye and was now waving you over with his typical charming smile while the people around him were continuing their conversation, oblivious to the turmoil inside you. You briefly considered turning around and running away, but you decided against it. That would make this situation even more awkward than it already was.
Taking a deep breath and mustering a wobbly smile, you made your way over to the Gryffindor table. You exchanged greetings with your friends and headed toward a seat, hoping to get as far away from Fred as you could. But, of course, Fred had other plans. With a grin, he shoved Lee aside and proudly declared the seat next to him as free.
Bloody hell, he was making it hard for you. It’s as if he knew and wanted to torture you now that you had finally realized your true feelings. Feelings that didn’t actually exist; denial was your new best friend.
With no other choice, other than making this one hell of an uncomfortable situation for everyone, you reluctantly sat down next to him, trying to put as much distance between you two as possible.
But to no avail. As soon as you sat down Fred swung his arm around your shoulder and pulled you closer to him. “Thank Merlin you’re here. Could you be a darling and tell our idiotic friends that Snape does in fact secretly love me and that is the only reason he so often chooses to see me after class?”
‘Darling’ and ‘secretly loves me’, seemed to be the only thing your brain registered, not to mention that arm still wrapped around you. Has he always been this physically affectionate with you? It was hard to remember because Fred was looking at you expectantly as if he were waiting for something and…
Finally, your brain catches up, “Oh, that my dear Fred, is what we call detention. And wouldn't you know it, you're supposed to be there... like right now!" You playfully glanced at your imaginary wristwatch.
You could practically see the second he realized you were right. In a hurry, he jumped up from his seat and snatched the last food from his plate. But there was something important he seemed to have forgotten.
With a grin, you asked him, "Aren't you forgetting something?" Confusion washed over his face as he turned back to the table, searching for what he had missed, not finding anything. After a brief moment, he leaned down and surprised you with a kiss on your cheek. Speechless and mouth agape, you watched as the rest of the table erupted in snickers.
"You git!" you exclaimed, feeling your cheeks burn. "I meant your wand!"
Instead of being flustered like you, Fred found the whole situation hilarious. He joined in laughter with his friends and sent you a playful wink. With a glint in his eye, he swiftly retrieved his wand and innocently exclaimed, "Oops!" before making a speedy exit from the Great Hall.
Still trying to process what just happened, you turned to your friends, hoping they could provide the distraction and peace of mind you desperately needed.
Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse, George decided to torture you. With a grin, he leaned in and asked if you've figured it out yet. Your whole body tensed up, and you found yourself desperately wishing for an escape.
In your horrified state, you managed to stammer out a weak, "W-What?" The anticipation of his response hung heavy in the air, and you braced yourself for the worst.
George burst into laughter, which echoed through the Great Hall, making everything feel ten times worse. You couldn’t help but feel exposed, as if your deepest secrets were on display for everyone to see.
Through his laughter, George managed to squeeze out, "Bloody hell. Looks like someone forgot the essay for McGonagall that's due tomorrow."
You breathed a sigh of relief, realizing that he had no idea. How could he? You yourself just figured it out. And you’d do anything to keep it that way. You won’t tell a soul about any of it and just pretend that things were normal.
✧
How naive could you be? How in your right mind could you ever think that keeping this from Fred was a possibility?
He knew you better than you knew yourself.
No matter how hard you tried to keep things like always it just wouldn’t go your way. First everything was completely normal, nothing out of the ordinary. You two would banter and share jokes. But as soon as he touched you in any way you panicked and run away from him.
You hadn’t realized how often he reached for you. It apparently had become like second nature for him.
At first you noticed the small touches, like accidentally bumping shoulders while walking together or him gently tapping your arm to get your attention.
But it was the larger gestures that pushed you to your breaking point, stirring up your traitorous heart even more. Like when he reached out and grabbed your hand in the bustling crowd of students during a visit to Hogsmead.
But the absolute worst was when he would slide in next to you, casually drape his arm around your shoulder and pull you close, all while effortlessly engaging in conversation with someone else. And what made it even more unbearable was that no one seemed to bat an eye. It was as if this physical closeness was an unspoken agreement between the two of you, that no one remembered to inform you about.
But as much as you tried to subtly keep your distance you could tell that Fred knew something was wrong. He saw it in the way you would purposefully choose to sit the furthest away from him even when the seat next to him was unoccupied.
You saw the confusion in his eyes when you started to avoid going to Hogsmead with the excuse of finishing your school work. He knew that this was never something that stopped you from spending time with him or your friends.
Since that first year you met Fred on the train, he’d been a constant presence in your life. You stumbled upon Fred and George pulling a prank on their older brother Percy. Instead of telling on them, you decided to join in on the mischief. As a result, Percy ended up with boils all over his face. From that moment on, you and Fred became inseparable. So, when you suddenly started pulling away without any explanation, it felt like the most awful thing you could do to him.
And you could tell that it was hurting Fred too. He wasn't the type to wear his heart on his sleeve; in fact, quite the opposite. But after all the years you've known him, you were priding yourself on understanding him better than most people in his life. He would never outright admit it, but your actions were causing him pain.
He would extend his hand, reach out, but as soon as he noticed that you turned away from him, he would pull back. In that fleeting moment, you could see the hurt and confusion reflected in his eyes, mirroring the hurt you were experiencing.
He even attempted to talk about it once. Normally, he would rely on laughter to uplift your spirits rather than delve into the realm of emotions. So when he approached you before your class, specifically to ask if you were okay, it created an awkward conversation for the both of you. All you could do was promise him, that if anything was wrong, you’d tell him.
What a lie.
His genuine concern shattered your heart. But it wasn't just him who could sense that something was off. You noticed how your friends would exchange worried glances every time you came up with a new excuse to avoid spending time with Fred.
Being around him became an unbearable risk, fearing that he might somehow discover your true feelings for him. It wasn’t just a simple crush; your feelings ran deeper, more intense.
Every time you witnessed his infectious laughter or his ability to light up the entire room with his jokes, a swarm of butterflies erupted in your stomach, consuming you from within. The guilt of keeping such a significant secret from him and the rest of your friends gnawed at you. But the thought of confessing your feelings and potentially jeopardizing everything held you back.
It has gotten to the point where you chose to spend your free time in the library. You knew that he would never step foot inside of it. So this place became your sanctuary.
But you should’ve known better. Fred Weasley may not be an overly emotional person but he was stubborn to no end.
One night after dinner, that ended with you leaving the table as soon as possible and an excuse, truthful this time, to do your unfinished homework you returned to the only place that felt safe from Fred.
There were only a few students left in the library. You grabbed your Charms Book and settled into a quiet corner, hoping to review your homework for Professor Flitwick.
But your silence was soon disturbed by the one person you wanted to avoid. Which was not entirely true.
The situation hurt, but you couldn’t help wanting to see him — even if only from afar.
Fred appeared to be searching for you because the moment your eyes met, he marched over to where you were sitting.
"Back to doing homework, huh?" he asked, glancing at your table.
"Actually, yes," you replied honestly.
“Oi, sod off. I know you mostly just sit here doing nothing — Lee saw you, you know?” he said.
“I don’t know what Lee thinks he saw but that’s not the truth. This is a library. I study,” you argued.
“Listen, I know you’ve been avoiding me. And I have no idea what I could’ve done. You’ve been blowing me off left and right. You’re being pretty obvious and I think it’s time we had this discussion.”
You stared at him, eyes wide open. “I don’t know what you’re talking about. I already told you, everything is fine.”
“Come off it! We’ve been friends for years and I know when something’s off. You’ve been avoiding me and you have been for weeks. I’m done pretending like I don’t know that. And things aren’t fine since you won’t tell me what it is. What’s this really about?” his voice was low, but you could feel his anger seeping through.
But you couldn’t tell him; too much was at stake. You’d lose your best friend. Even the thought alone was too much to bear.
“Fred, please. I just… I can’t explain it to you,” you pleaded.
“Why the hell not? I’m your friend!” You appreciated his concern, but his persistence was becoming overwhelming. “If everything truly was fine you wouldn’t be hiding here all the time! What’s going on?” he demanded, clearly just wanting answers, answers you couldn’t give him.
“I really can’t tell you. Please, I’m begging you, let it go.” Keeping this from him was killing you. You felt awful holding this secret from him. Deep inside you entertained the notion that he felt the same, but doubts held you back. It was pain-filled hiding something so important from a person that meant so much to you. You wished that he felt the same way, but fear gripped you tight.
Fred's anger was palpable, evident from the fury etched on his face. Madam Pince was shooting both of you disapproving glances. You secretly hoped that she would kick you out, giving you an excuse to escape this conversation.
“No, I’m not giving up. I deserve answers and I’m not leaving until I get them, understood?” He defiantly took a seat right in front of you.
You remained silent, refusing to speak another word. The more he pushed, the harder it became to keep this from him.
“I’ve got all night. Nowhere else to be,” he stated, arms crossed, his gaze fixed on you. Still refusing to speak, you turned your attention back to your essay, hoping he would eventually relent.
After a few minutes, he broke the silence. His voice now calm and his expression blank. No trace of anger or irritation. It almost seemed like he had come to accept the situation.
“Maybe this is for the best. You clearly don’t want to talk to me, so I’ll guess I won’t bother you anymore,” he said in a monotone voice, before he abruptly stood up and started to walk away, not looking back once.
Hot panic was surging through your veins and in an instant you jumped up, to go after him. Realizing that you were about to lose him either way, you took a chance.
“I like you!” The words echoed through the quiet library, their volume seemingly too loud for the stillness around you. He paused in his tracks, but didn't turn around. Unable to see his reaction, you continued, thinking maybe it was better this way, shielded from the potential disgust his face might reveal.
"I like you, and I'm really sorry, okay? I just need some time to sort things out and get over these feelings. I promise, but right now, I can't be around you. Not right now. That's why I've been avoiding you. Please, please don't hate me," with every word, your desperation spilled out, raw and unfiltered, while your eyes began to burn.
As Fred slowly turned around, his expression was unreadable, and it felt like everything was falling apart. Immediate regret was filling you up. Maybe, if you would’ve stayed silent and kept on ignoring what was going on inside of you, there would have been a chance to mend the friendship later on. But now, it felt like it might be too late.
“You like me?” he asked, his voice filled with bewilderment.
“Please, don’t make me say it again,” you pleaded, feeling overwhelmed by the situation.
His expression slowly transformed into a wide smile, "You're not kidding. You actually like me?"
Confused and feeling a sense of panic, you asked, "Why are you smiling at me like that?"
Fred's grin widened, making him look like a complete idiot, "I can't control it. You've just made me the happiest person in the world. Do you have any idea how long I’ve been hoping to hear those words?"
Silence filled the air. Your heart skipped a beat. "What?"
“I like you too, I was just waiting for you to catch up,” he confessed with a soft grin, his hand nervously rubbing the back of his neck.
"So, that's why you were always touching me?" you asked, trying to make sense of it all.
He let out a loud laugh, quickly quieted by a stern look from Madam Pince. He sent her an apologetic smile before refocusing on you and speaking in a hushed tone.
"And here I thought I was being smooth about it. I've been trying to let you know for a while now, actually."
“Bloody hell. You mean you felt the same all this time? Why on earth didn't you say anything?" You were in disbelief, feeling like you were in a dream. Maybe you had dozed off while reading about The History and Evolution of Enchantments and Charms Throughout the Ages.
"Well, why didn't you?" he asked.
"You've got me there," you said with a quiet laugh, looking down at the ground. After a moment of silence, you glanced up and saw him smiling softly at you.
"So... what's the plan now?" you asked, seeking some clarity.
"You like me, I like you. It's pretty clear, isn't it?" he responded.
You squinted your eyes at him, still not fully convinced.
"Now I can touch you as much as I want, and you can't escape anymore," he said with a mischievous grin, taking a step closer until he stood right in front of you.
"Oh, Merlin. You're a git," you exclaimed, unable to hold back a laugh. "Why on earth do I like you again?"
“Because I’m just that irresistible, obviously,” he laughed, joining in with you.
You placed your hand on his chest and playfully gave him a nudge. But before you could pull away, he surprised you by grabbing your hand. As you looked down at his hand enveloping yours, he posed a question. "So, about you admitting you like me... do you wanna back that up with a kiss?"
"Mhm, I'll have to think about that," you teased, raising an eyebrow. "I'm not sure if you deserve it, to be honest."
He grinned cheekily and retorted, "Oh, I definitely deserve it. What have I ever done to not deserve it?"
“Let’s try and remember. Just last week you-”
As you were about to list all the things he had done, he surprised you again by silencing your words with a passionate kiss. In that moment, your thoughts faded into insignificance, consumed by the intensity of the kiss. His hand gently caressed your cheek, deepening the connection between you. Your emotions were running wild, and it felt as if your body was ablaze.
After a moment or an hour, he pulled back, and you took a deep breath, trying to regain your composure. Opening your eyes, you gazed up at him.
"Sorry, I interrupted you. What were you saying?" he asked, his playful tone laced with a hint of mischief.
“I can’t remember,” you murmured, connecting your lips with his once more.
You’d been wrong all along—falling for your best friend might have been the best idea of all.

the low sounds of students chattering and moving about the common room acts as a lulling sound as you sit on the floor against the couch with Fred, George and the trio while they all talk about your plans for the holidays.
Fred and George talk lively about their plans of mischief while Ron groans in dramatic misery. Harry and Hermione laugh along with the twins' wild ideas.
you yawn, leaning to the side as you rest your head against Fred's thigh who was sitting behind you on the couch. your eyes droop, the melodic sound of everyone's laughter and chatter mixing with the low sounds of the common room noise slowly lulling you to sleep.
Fred barely thinks about it as he moves a hand down to stroke through your hair as your head rests against his thigh. he's still engaged in the conversation, absentmindedly combing his fingers through your messy strands.
George smiles to himself as he catches glimpse of the sight, a know-it-all grin on his lips.
the conversation dwindles after a while, everyone growing tired after the long day. Fred in the meantime has moved from the couch to the floor beside you, your head in his lap and his fingers never leaving your hair. Hermione bids everyone a goodnight, leaving for the girl's dorm as she could barely keep her eyes open.
the twins keep up quiet conversation with Ron and Harry, reminiscing about old pranks or soddy teachers.
George makes a teasing jab about how 'Fred's knees will surely kill him in the morning after sitting too long like this', but Fred shakes his head tiredly. he doesn't mind the dull ache he'll indeed feel, as long as you're at peace and catch some sleep.
besides, he would take any pain if it meant to have you this close to him.
George laughs quietly, standing up with low cracks of his own knees. he makes one last remark along the lines of 'i swear you two are so blind', before he heads up the boy's dorms to sleep.
Harry laughs along at Fred's slightly red cheeks, getting up as well. he bids Fred a goodnight, heading off to his dorm.
Fred sighs tiredly as he looks down at your sleeping form. damn his already aching knees, you look too cute to care about the dull pain. he strokes a stray strand of hair from your face, mentally kicking himself for still not having made a move.
though, he muses, if only you'd stop making him stutter and trip over his words with those damn eyes every time he'd try.
tomorrow, he nods to himself. knowing that your full attention will make him a stumbling mess once he tries once more. but this time, he huffs as he closes his eyes, this time he'll push through and finally get the words out.

loved up?
pairing; fred weasley x fem!reader
series; the bestfriendverse NEW! (ongoing)
warnings; allusions to self harm (reader), pining, idiots in love (but they don't know it yet), a lil sad but also fluffy
synopsis; fred gives you - his obviously platonic best friend - a cuddle in the common room. an interrogation ensues.
a/n; i'm veeeery rusty but i'm back bitches!! and proud to present.... the bestfriendverse. turning this into a lil series of drabbles (& hopefully longer chapters) if my brain keeps braining for long enough. so requests are muchly appreciated and my inbox is always open. cannot wait to explore these two in more depth!!! missed you all </3
You're halfway into Fred's lap when George and Lee round the corner to the common room, melty soft and warm with your legs over his thighs, eyes closed and lashes brushing at the juncture between his shoulder and neck.
He smells lovely.
He feels even lovelier – that soft rumble of his chest that lazily pushes its way through you, his hand at the side of your neck, keeping you nuzzling against him like a needy kitten. He hikes you further up and you preen, eyes still closed, half asleep and well on your way to drooling on his shoulder.
You stretch and wheedle your arms underneath his own until your shoulder is squeezed beneath his armpit. He makes room for you, as expected.
"Oi! They're having a love-fest in here!" Lee says. You groan and dig your head further into Fred's neck. Your heartbeat ticks up when he scrubs a sweeping circle over your back with his palm outstretched –you don't even mind when he rucks up your t-shirt.
You diligently ignore the hammering in your own ears.
The other end of the settee dips and George's weight settles at your back, knuckles brushing at the back of your neck in a way he knows makes you bristle and squirm. You squeak and make to dive behind Fred.
"Leave her be, Georgie," Fred says, mock offence dripping from his every syllable. His arm lifts instinctively and he ushers you right under until you're well and truly squashed, your whole body curled inward against his chest. It's endearing how seriously he takes defending your honour. "We were very comfortable before you interrupted, you silly sod."
"I resent that comment."
"You resemble it, more like."
George gasps in faux horror. You tip your head upwards just in time to watch Lee throw his arms around the pair of you, a devious grin on his face.
You know what he's going to say, no matter how much you wish he wouldn't.
"If I didn't know better, I'd say you two looked proper loved up. Wouldn't you agree, George?"
"Absolutely."
If Fred feels you deflate, he's gracious enough not to mention it. Your lips purse and you busy yourself picking at your cuticles.
"Shut up," Fred snorts as though the thought alone is utterly ridiculous. Your heart does this awful sort of flip-flop that knocks the breath right out of you– it leaves an ache that carries right down to your toes.
You try to disentangle yourself from him as smoothly as possible. You want to run and hide from this conversation, the very conversation you've been rehearsing over and over in your head for months.
Being in love with your best friend isn't for the faint of heart.
Fred clings when you attempt to slide out of his grip, tugging you right back into his side. Heat rises to your cheeks so fast you feel faint.
Honestly, you might pass out right now.
Lee's already distracted, animatedly discussing the next upcoming prank with almost concerning fervour. Fred absentmindedly fiddles with the hem of your t-shirt as he listens.
Godric, you're burning up.
You can feel George's eyes on you. You know what he wants to say – can picture it right down to the pitying look in his eyes. He's always been the more observant twin.
You don't want to hear it.
Fred won't let go no matter how much you fidget. You pick at your nails until red pools at the edges of your cuticles. The sting prickles at your eyes.
"Hey." Fred's attention snaps to you suddenly. "What's the matter, lovie? You feeling alright?"
Fucking hell. He must be doing it on purpose, surely. Your throat burns.
"Nothing," you croak. "I'm okay."
It's just convincing enough for him to leave it, though you're half sure you'll be questioned later.
He smears a kiss to the crown of your head before he stands and it almost finishes you off.
That boy is going to be the death of you.

"I Might Even Be In Love With You"
requested: anonymous
words: 1233
warning: swearing, that's really it besides the two idiots being oblivious af
summary: Fred Weasley is obsessed with you, a Hufflepuff student, but he's too afraid to admit it, and you're too afraid to admit you love him too
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/bebff0e2cc1e697e345ad8afb923c769/0b33f81dbd1c7d10-f6/s540x810/c815d672872899e5a4443cda70be92a201623216.jpg)

If you looked up the word 'obsessed' in the dictionary, you would find a very distressed picture of Fred Weasley. Fred was obsessed, and every synonym for the word. His entire day revolved around a Hufflepuff girl, who was now the only reason he believed the world still spun. Fred now truly believed nothing mattered before he met her. All that mattered was that she was here now and it was as if he was attached by a red string that kept him tethered to her.
You were everything to Fred and he made sure to keep a firm grip on you. He would be damned if he let you be the one that got away. He might've taken this a bit too literally, since he always had a hand on you.
When you sat together at breakfast when you snuck over to the Gryffindor table, Fred either had his arm around you, or his hand on your thigh, which was becoming more common the longer you knew him. When you hung out with your friends his arm was either around your waist, or he was holding your hand. In class together he would move your chair closer to his, once again resting his hand on your leg, or his arm on the back of your chair.
Fred was notorious for being late to class, but you didn't know that. Fred would walk with you, his hand on the small of your back to guide you through the corridor, to all your classes.
"Aren't you going to be late to your own classes?" you would ask, concerned he would be late, even though he'd rather skip class just to be with you, but this was his best option.
He knew you'd tell him to stop walking you to class if he told you the truth, so he continued to lie, "My class is just down the hall, it's fine, love," he would say, starting to call you 'love' more often.
You reluctantly accepted that he would walk you to class everyday as long as he wasn't late for his own classes. Fred had become your own personal shadow, which you didn't hate. You enjoyed Fred's presence, and how wherever he was you were immediately drawn to him. It was his laugh, or the way he made everyone around him laugh. The smile that was always on his face, or the way he put a smile on everyone's face. Everything about him was perfect to you.
He made you smile, laugh, feel safe around him, and every time he touched you in some way it gave you butterflies. You had the biggest crush, if it was even that anymore, it was more like you were irreparably in love with him. The only thing was that even though it seemed obvious, you still didn't think Fred returned your feelings for him. Anyone sane would say it was obvious, but to you Fred was always laughing and joking with everyone, the same way he was with you, just maybe less touchy, so you didn't know if he liked you or not, and decided to play it safe.
Luckily your friends were also fed up with you and Fred doing the world's most complicated dance to avoid saying your feelings for each other while also putting them all on display for each other. Angelina was currently trying to knock some sense into you, as the two of you hung out in her dorm room that you snuck into.
"When will you accept that he's obsessed with you, and you both are crazy in love with each other, and will one day be married with 5 kids," Angelina said, annoyed by how you were so blind to all of this.
You let out a sigh, "We don't actually know that, and shut up with the whole 5 kids thing, I swear you add one more each time we have this conversation," you told her, putting your head in your hands.
Angelina was moments away from knocking some sense into you, literally, but lucky for you Katie walked in the room, "Katie, please tell our oblivious friend here, that Fred Weasley is in love with her, and there's no denying it," Angelina said, desperate to get her friend to finally come to the realisation.
Katie looked like she'd just been told the most outrageous thing ever, which she just had, "How do you not see that he's completely in love with you. I mean he's late to class almost everyday because of you-" she cut herself off, but not fast enough to realise her mistake.
Your head sprung up, shocked by her words, "What do you mean he's late to class because of me?"
"Well, the thing is," Katie started, looking a bit nervous, "He told us not to tell you because he knew if you found out you'd stop him from walking you to class, so he had us not tell you," she explained, looking apologetic for letting the secret slip.
"Wait, but why would he do that unless," you said, the lightbulb in your head finally turning on, "I'll be right back," you were not going to be back actually. Angelina was finally relieved that you finally realised, so much so that she was on the verge of throwing a party.
You found Fred talking to George in an empty corridor. Fred saw you and ushered for George to leave, so that it was just you and Fred, "Hello, love, what can I do for you?" he asked, leaning against the wall with his trademark smile on his face.
"You lied to me," you stated, causing him to look confused, then realise what you were talking about.
Fred continued to smile at you, but pushed off the wall moving closer to you, "I'm sorry, love, but I just knew if I told you the truth you'd make me stop walking you to class," he defended.
You crossed your arms, "But why did you do it?" you asked, needing to confirm the truth before you said it out loud.
"Lie to you? I told you why, you'd make me stop-" he said, deflecting from the question, since he knew what you truly meant.
"No, I mean why did you walk me to class even if you knew you'd be late."
Fred let out a breath he didn't realise he was holding in, "I-I, I don't know I just like walking you to class, since I-I," he said, continuing to stumble a bit, which was unusual, "I really like you, I might even be in love with you," he confessed.
You were shocked and at a loss for words, but tried to pull yourself together as best as possible, "I really like you too, love you even," you confessed also, beaming from how overjoyed you felt.
Fred moved even closer to you, wrapping his hands around your waist, leaning in a bit, "There's usually something two people do when they're in love with each other," Fred hinted at playfully.
"Oh yeah, and what's that," you teased. Fred wasted no time connecting your lips together. Your hands found the back of his head, running them through his hair, while his hands stayed on your waist. Both of your torments were finally over. You could be in love forever, and in the words of Angelina get married and have 6 kids.

Could I ask for a George Weasley x reader where she's Sirius daughter and after he escapes some people think that she's helping him so George stands up for her and then they pull pranks together on those that were mean to her?
Hello, hello! Hope you like it ~ ♡

Loyalty *.✧
george weasley x f!reader
Summary: Being Sirius Black’s daughter came with its fair share of problems—especially after his escape from Azkaban. But when rumors spread that you were helping him, George Weasley is the first to stand up for you. And after that, well… revenge is best served with a prank or two.
You were used to the whispers.
Being Sirius Black’s daughter had always made you stand out at Hogwarts, even before he’d broken out of Azkaban. You’d learned to deal with the odd glances, the hushed voices when people thought you couldn’t hear them.
But after that night, when news spread that he had escaped, the whispers became something else. Something uglier.
"She’s probably in contact with him."
"Like father, like daughter."
"What if she’s a Death Eater too?"
The rumors spread fast, and soon, it wasn’t just whispers anymore. Students avoided you in the hallways. Some sneered openly. A few Slytherins even made a habit of bumping into you on purpose, as if daring you to fight back.
It stung. More than you wanted to admit.
But nothing compared to what happened in the Great Hall.
You had just sat down at the Gryffindor table, minding your own business, when a loud voice rang out.
"So, Y/N, when’s your dear old dad coming to break you out of here?"
Laughter erupted from a group of Slytherins, led by none other than Adrian Pucey. He smirked, leaning back in his seat as if he’d just said the funniest thing in the world.
Your hands clenched into fists, your face burning with anger. You knew engaging with them would only make things worse, but before you could even open your mouth, another voice cut in.
A familiar, furious voice.
"Oi, Pucey!"
George Weasley.
He stood up from his seat beside you, his expression dark with something you rarely saw on him—pure rage.
"Didn’t know you were so obsessed with Y/N’s family," George said loudly, his tone mockingly casual. "Bit weird, don’t you think? Maybe you should get a hobby."
A few Gryffindors snickered, and Pucey scowled. "I’m just saying—"
"Yeah, yeah, we heard you," George cut him off, waving a hand dismissively. "And honestly? It was boring. Next time, at least try to be original."
Fred, never one to miss an opportunity, added, "Or, better yet, just don’t talk at all. Would do wonders for our ears."
The Gryffindor table erupted in laughter, and Pucey’s face turned red. With a glare, he muttered something under his breath and turned away.
George sat back down beside you, nudging your shoulder gently. "Don’t let idiots like him get to you, love. They’re not worth it."
You blinked at him, warmth spreading through your chest. "Thanks, George."
He grinned. "Anytime."
And that was when you realized—if people wanted to make your life difficult, you had a Weasley twin on your side.
Which meant payback was in order.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/9423744fbfc0e6a6755984dd478b8b19/d884054edfbbf16e-8f/s500x750/d3e648f20224d7d0540aff82697aaebac5d53c6d.jpg)
"Alright, Y/N, what’s the plan?"
George sat cross-legged on the floor of the Gryffindor common room, eyes alight with mischief as he leaned in closer. Fred was beside him, equally eager.
You smirked. "Pucey and his little gang have been making my life miserable. I say we return the favor."
Fred grinned. "Now you’re speaking my language."
George nudged your knee playfully. "See, this is why I like you."
You felt heat rise to your cheeks but quickly focused back on the task at hand. "Alright, so here’s what I was thinking…"
The plan was simple—but effective.
Step one: Enchant Pucey’s robes so that every time he tried to insult you, his voice would turn into a high-pitched squeak.
Step two: Slip a potion into his pumpkin juice that would turn his hair bright pink for a week.
Step three: Charm his shoes so that they squeaked loudly with every step he took.
Step four? Sit back and enjoy.
The next morning, it all unfolded perfectly.
Pucey marched into the Great Hall, already scowling, but the moment he opened his mouth—
"I bet Y/N’s—"
"SQUEAK!"
His eyes widened in horror. He tried again, only for another ridiculous squeak to escape. Laughter erupted around the hall, and he clamped his mouth shut, face burning.
Then, as he sat down, he took a sip of his juice. Within seconds, his hair exploded into a bright, fluorescent pink.
"Oi, Pucey!" George called, grinning. "Love the new look!"
Fred nodded sagely. "Really brings out your eyes."
Pucey shot up, ready to storm out—only for his shoes to betray him.
SQUEAK. SQUEAK. SQUEAK.
You, George, and Fred were practically *crying* with laughter as Pucey bolted out of the hall, pink-haired and humiliated.
"That," George gasped between laughs, throwing an arm around your shoulder, "was brilliant."
You beamed up at him. "You know, we make a pretty good team."
George smirked. "Oh, love, we’re just getting started."
And just like that, your life became a whirlwind of pranks, laughter, and George Weasley’s unwavering loyalty.
And maybe—just maybe—something more.

The Yule Ball was only a week away and George still hadn’t scored a date. Everyone around him had dates or at least knew who they were going to ask.
George tried to mentally take notes when Fred asked out Angelina. But, he was puzzled at how Fred did it with such ease. He asked her out with no hesitation, no awkwardness, just with courage, he was confident.
Fred suggested that George should just ask out Katie Bell, it was obvious that she had a liking towards him. Angelina even offered that she could ask her or Alicia Spinnet to go with George.
But that’s what the problem was, George didn’t want to just ask out Katie as his date, or Alicia, or any other girl. He wanted you as his date. He wanted you.
He just couldn’t find the courage nor confidence to ask you yet.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/ac243c1059e3abbbeb56d47ef88b7464/ca58f3f9b304b70e-0a/s540x810/7fcffc84b67f75bc844a530c617f41860c0dd92e.jpg)
George lazily spun noodles around his fork with a gloomy look on his face, his tall figure hunched over the wooden table. Fred and Lee both looked at each other and sighed at the mopey sight of George.
“Why don’t you just go and ask out y/n?” Fred questioned as he crossed his arms and rested them on the table.
“She’s probably got her eyes on one of those Durmstrang boys. I wouldn’t be surprised if she already has a date.” George muttered.
“Are you kidding me? She’s had eyes for you since last year! She practically stares at you for 80 percent of the time in charms!” Lee cried out.
“It’s because I’m always talking or being disruptive in some way! Anyways, I really don’t think she would care to go with me. I’m sure she’s already gotten a date.” George shrugged, a gloomy look on his face as he stared and poked at his food.
Fred and Lee only looked at George as if he’d gone mad.
“She doesn’t, you idiot!” Fred yelled, accidentally getting the attention of a few students near him. Silently apologizing and waiting for them to turn their heads before he began to talk again.
“She doesn’t have a date because I already overheard her in the common room complaining about how she doesn’t have a date and wants a certain someone to ask her to it.” Fred seethed, his tone strong but voice quiet.
It took a few seconds for George to realize who that “certain someone” was. It was him.
“Wh- Are you serious?” He was surprised, clumsily setting down his fork and leaning in.
“The most I've ever been.” Fred said with a stoic expression as he tilted his chin down.
“She talks about you quite a lot, and asks about you.” Lee hinted to George. “Now, all you’ve got to do is ask her out. Don’t make her wait.” Lee pointed at him, his face matching Freds.
“Yeah I know! But…I don’t know how! I don’t know what to say or what to do!”
“Oh come on, just go up to her and ask, she’ll say yes, and then congrats, you’ve got her as your date.” Fred shrugged and Lee nodded in agreement.
George disagreed however, it wasn’t as easy as Fred and Lee saw it to be. He wasn’t going to ask you out like Fred asked out Angelina, he wasn’t going to throw a crumpled paper ball at you and ask you in the middle of class. He wanted it to be special.
“No! I need to do something nice for it! I’m not gonna give her some boring proposal.” He scoffed.
“Then get her some flowers or chocolate, girls like flowers, right?” Fred commented as he shoved a mouthful of chicken into his mouth.
“It’s really not that hard, George. You’re overthinking it. Just go ask her.” Lee added in.
“I can't! I can’t do it.” George blurted out, dropping his head in his hands. Fred rolled his eyes, Lee tucked in his lips and shook his head disappointedly.
“Well, why not? What’s stopping you?” A bit of irritation was present in Fred’s voice, he was tired of George’s excuses and moping.
“I’m…scared.” George muttered, bringing his head up a bit.
“Scared? You’re scared?” Fred gawped, his voice slightly muffled due to his full mouth.
“I’ve seen you break school rules right in front of professors with no hesitation, you’ve stolen from honeydukes more times than I can count, entered the forbidden forest in the middle of the night without a smudge of fear on your face…but you're too scared to ask a girl out?” Fred was genuinely amused by George’s statement.
George groaned and grimaced, dropping his head back into his hands once again.
Fred realized he needed to do something. He needed to somehow bring up his brother's confidence. Later that night, he thought of just the lucky thing he could do.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/ac243c1059e3abbbeb56d47ef88b7464/ca58f3f9b304b70e-0a/s540x810/7fcffc84b67f75bc844a530c617f41860c0dd92e.jpg)
Fred sat down excitedly the table, looking George straight into the eyes.
“Alright first things first,” Fred set his crossed arms on the table. “you have to ask her before the end of today, or I'll ask her for you.” George’s eyes widened at his ultimatum.
“What? You’re not going to ask her! I’m the one who’ll be asking first!” George cried out, dropping his hands on the table.
“Exactly. You will be asking her first. Or I’ll tell her for-” Fred began to point at him.
“I get it! I’ll ask her today, fine! Now, can you tell me whatever bloody thing you have planned to help me?” George complained, impatient and anxious.
Fred leaned back from the table, looking around to see just in case any professors or staff were focused on them. Once he knew no one had their eyes on them, he gestured for the others to get closer.
The three boys leaned in and hunched together over the table. Fred pulled something out from his pocket and placed it carefully in the middle of the table.
It was a small vial that was filled with a golden liquid and had a tag that said Felix Felicis attached around the neck of the vial.
“Felix Felicis?” George slowly spoke aloud while taking a good look at the glass. “Isn’t this the same stuff that’s banned from Quidditch competitions?”
“It's also called liquid luck and…yes.” Fred pointed out to him, mumbling the last word in the sentence.
“Liquid luck, really? You’re telling me I need a potion just to ask a girl out?” George scoffed.
“Yes.” Fred responded flatly. “You’re being too much of a priss, I’d make you take a shot of firewhiskey instead if I could get my hands on some right now.”
“Doesn’t this take six months to brew?” Lee questioned, trying to stop another argument between the twins from happening, he picked up the vial to look at it. Fred simply nodded as his answer.
“So, how’d you get it done overnight? Or have you just been hiding this from me?” George blurted out, he seriously doubted that Fred had kept a secret from him for six months, especially a secret about a potion.
“I didn’t make it, I stole it from Snape's cupboards, along with the recipe.” Fred shrugged and proudly smiled while nudging Lee, who was still staring intently at the small bottle.
“Snape had a whole rack of little vials of this one in his cupboard. To be honest, I would’ve taken-“ Fred trailed off, stopping once he realized the two boys were staring at him blankly.
“Anyways, all you have to do is drink some of it and let it do its trick.” He shrugged.
“You’re sure of this? It’s not toxic?” George questioned as Lee handed him the bottle.
“No. Hopefully not.” Fred muttered, George popped the cork off the vial and sniffed what was inside.
“Merlin! That smells horrid!” He grimaced and moved his face away from the vial.
“Just drink it before I make you.” Fred warned, wanting his twin to get it over with.
George took a deep breath and tilted his head slightly back.
“Maybe not the…whole thing.” Fred was too late with his warning, George had already begun to dump the entirety of the liquid into his mouth.
“I was gonna suggest he should put it in his drink.” Lee said concerningly. He watched as his brother swallowed the potion with a scrunched up face, grimacing at the strong taste of the potion.
“So, how do you feel?” Lee questioned, his eyebrows knit together in concern. George didn’t respond for a minute, he only took a large, deep, sharp, breath.
“Amazing. Absolutely amazing.” A grin took over his face. “I don’t know what I’m gonna do, but I’m gonna do something.” He slammed his hands on the table as he jumped from his seat, running happily out of the Great Hall before Fred or Lee could get a single word out.
“How far do you think he’s gonna go with it?” Lee leaned over to Fred, both of them watching the other twin leave the area.
“Far.” Was all Fred could say, knowing that his twin was coming up with something big.

You shut your textbook almost immediately after Professor Flitwick dismissed the class, this was your second to last class of the day and you wanted nothing more than the school day to be over.
As you and the other students began to gather your items and bags, some random force caused your textbook to slide off your desk and hit the floor with a loud thud. You silently groaned and sighed to yourself, you began to crouch down to grab it but a pair of hands were already clasped around it, holding it out to you.
George was handing your book to you with a huge smile on his face, you noticed the small folded up paper that appeared on the top.
You unfolded the tiny and read the messily written note.
Quidditch pitch, 6:30PM - G.W.
By the time you looked up, George was already walking out the door, his mop of ginger hair getting lost into the crowd of students.
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/ac243c1059e3abbbeb56d47ef88b7464/ca58f3f9b304b70e-0a/s540x810/7fcffc84b67f75bc844a530c617f41860c0dd92e.jpg)
George was nowhere to be seen, he wasn’t anywhere in the common room, or at lunch, or his usual spot in the corridors. It was strange. It was as if he vanished right after he gave you that note.
You left the common room at six, since it was a bit of a walk to get from there to the quidditch pitch. You swiftly walked down the corridors, constantly looking over your shoulder for Flich, hoping he wasn’t lurking around to find a student he could yell at. Hoping that you wouldn’t be that student.
While turning the corner, you came across a line of viola flower petals, orange and purple. They were leading down the hallway. You followed the trail of petals, even though you knew where you needed to go.
The trail continued even once you’d reached the entrance of the Quidditch pitch, you pushed past the curtains to find a jar full of your favorite candies from Honeydukes sitting in front of your feet, your initials scribbled on the top of the lid. You were surprised no bugs were crawling over it, perhaps George cast a spell on it to keep them away.
Anyways, you continued to follow the trail, it ended in the middle of the Quidditch field, stopping at a small gift box, a ribbon messily tied around it.
You grinned and bit down on your bottom lip, picking up the box and untying the ribbon nicely. You cautiously slid off the lid of the box, a noise came out of it, a crackling noise. Before you could even peek into the box, tiny fireworks began to spring out of the box, flying all around, some fireworks exploding into tiny heart shapes in front of your face, sparklers making their own heart shapes as well.
Large ones began to shoot out, exploding into letters in the sky and spelling out your name. The small box fell out of your hands and landed in the grass as the sparks continued to fly out. You took a few steps back, keeping your distance from the box to prevent any sparks accidentally hitting your robe or hair. While in the process, your back hit into someone's chest.
“Hi!” George shouted, causing you to jump and let out a small yelp at his unexpected appearance behind you.
He had the biggest grin you’ve ever seen on his face. You haven’t seen him smile this hard since he and Fred let off a dungbomb in Filch's office and stole the Marauders Map from one of his drawers in their first year.
“Oh! Hi, Georgie.” You nervously chuckled. His behavior was different, he was more hyper than usual. He was acting as if he was a shook up can of soda that was ready to burst.
“You got my note!” He cheered.
“I did! Are you okay? You seem…joyful.” You tried to look normal, rather than completely worried.
“I’m great! Better than ever!” You could see that look on his face. Where he knew something, he had a trick up his sleeve.
“So what’s all this about? The flowers, the crazy fireworks, the candy, what’s going on?” You knew exactly what was going on, or at least you hoped you did. What else would he have done all this for?
He got down on one knee, holding the bouquet of violas close to you, he wasn’t really sure what he was doing but he didn’t really care, the excitement running through his entire body was overpowering everything else.
“Would you Y/N Y/L/N, be my date for the Yule Ball?” You couldn’t help but giggle, holding a hand over your mouth to try and contain yourself.
His expression faltered a bit, but that grin was still glued on his face.
You weren’t giggling at the fact George was asking you out, you were giggling at the eager way he did it, the lengths he went to for it. You were also extremely nervous.
George raised an eyebrow, hinting that he was waiting for your response. You caught on and swallowed your giggles.
“Of course.” You nodded excitedly, taking the bouquet from his hands as he stood up.
He gave you a quick kiss on your forehead before fully standing up straight. His face was beginning to hurt from smiling so much, but he couldn’t stop, he carried on with his joy.
“You know you could’ve just gotten me the flowers and asked? You didn’t have to do all this.” You blushed.
“Yeah, I know.” George grinned wildly as he shrugged.

The late afternoon sun dipped low in the sky, casting golden light over the quiet street as Bill stood outside Y/N’s apartment building. The crumpled piece of parchment in his hand bore the weight of days of self-reflection, endless second-guessing, and more rewrites than he cared to count.
He glanced at the note, his eyes scanning the familiar words for what felt like the hundredth time:
Y/N, I owe you an apology. I’ve been a fool, and I made you feel like you did something wrong when the truth is, I’m the one who—
Bill groaned, rubbing his hand over his face. “What is this, a confession or a bloody essay?” he muttered, folding the parchment and stuffing it into his pocket. He adjusted his coat, shifting his weight from one foot to the other as his nerves churned in his stomach.
He couldn’t stop replaying Fred and George’s words in his mind. Start with an apology... Tell her you’re an idiot... Don’t overthink it.
“Don’t overthink it,” he muttered bitterly to himself. “Easy for them to say.”
He exhaled a shaky breath, staring at the apartment’s front door. Every fiber of his being screamed at him to turn around and leave, but he knew he couldn’t keep running from this. He had to face her, to tell her the truth, no matter how terrifying it was.
What if she doesn’t want to see me? What if she’s still upset?
The thoughts clawed at him, but he forced himself to take a step forward. His boots scuffed the pavement, and the sound seemed deafening in the otherwise quiet street. He reached the door, lifting his hand to knock before hesitating, his knuckles hovering inches from the wood.
He pulled the parchment back out of his pocket, unfolding it with shaky fingers.
Y/N, I owe you an apology. I’ve been a fool, and I made you feel like you did something wrong when the truth is, I’m the one who panicked. I like you—more than I’ve liked anyone in a long time—and that scares me, because I don’t want to mess this up. You mean so much to me, to Victoire...
Bill frowned, crumpling the note again. “Too much,” he muttered. “It’s too much.”
He leaned back against the wall beside the door, raking his hand through his hair. His chest felt tight, his pulse hammering in his ears. How could a man who had faced curses and traps, who had braved ancient tombs, be so utterly undone by the thought of admitting his feelings to a woman?
“Just knock,” he whispered to himself, glaring at the door like it had personally wronged him. “Three little knocks. That’s all it takes.”
But his feet felt rooted to the ground, his hand refusing to move. Every possible outcome flashed through his mind, from the worst-case scenario of her slamming the door in his face to the equally terrifying possibility that she might actually forgive him.
The door suddenly opened, and Bill startled, nearly stumbling backward.
Y/N stood there, her expression shifting from surprise to cautious curiosity as she took him in. She was dressed casually, a book in one hand, her hair pulled back. Her gaze flicked to the crumpled parchment in his hand before returning to his face.
“Bill?” she said, her tone somewhere between confusion and concern. “What are you doing here?”
Caught off guard, Bill’s carefully rehearsed speech flew out of his head. He opened his mouth, then closed it, his mind scrambling for words.
“I... uh...” He cleared his throat, feeling utterly ridiculous. “I needed to talk to you.”
Y/N blinked, her brow furrowing slightly. “About what?”
Bill exhaled slowly, straightening his posture and meeting her eyes. “About how I messed up,” he said, his voice steadier now. “And how sorry I am.”
Her expression softened, but she didn’t speak, waiting for him to continue.
“I shouldn’t have left like I did,” he admitted, his hand tightening around the parchment. “I was scared, and I handled it poorly. You didn’t do anything wrong, Y/N. If anything, you were... perfect.”
Her lips parted slightly, her surprise evident, but she still didn’t interrupt.
“It’s been a long time since I’ve let myself feel this way about someone,” Bill went on, his voice quieter now. “And it caught me off guard. I panicked because I didn’t want to ruin things between us, but in trying to avoid that, I ended up doing exactly what I didn’t want to do.”
The silence stretched between them, heavy with unspoken words. Bill braced himself for her response, his heart pounding in his chest.
Y/N looked at him for a long moment before stepping aside and opening the door wider. “You’d better come in,” she said softly.
The silence was thick as Y/N led Bill into her small but cozy living room. She gestured toward the couch, but he remained standing, awkwardly shifting his weight from one foot to the other. The tension between them was almost palpable, each of them hyper-aware of the other’s presence in the confined space.
“Do you... want tea?” Y/N asked, her voice hesitant as she crossed to the kitchenette.
“Uh, sure,” Bill replied quickly, his hands sliding into his coat pockets. “Tea would be great.”
Y/N nodded and busied herself with the kettle, her movements quick but fidgety. She pulled down two mismatched mugs and spooned tea leaves into them, trying to focus on the simple task instead of the man standing stiffly behind her.
Bill’s eyes roamed the room, taking in the eclectic mix of books, plants, and trinkets that seemed so perfectly her. The space felt lived-in, warm in a way that reminded him of the Burrow, but smaller, more personal. He swallowed hard, his nerves coiling tighter with every passing second.
When the kettle whistled, Y/N poured the tea and carried the mugs to the small coffee table, setting them down before finally sitting on the edge of the couch. She looked up at Bill expectantly, but he hesitated, hovering for a moment before sitting down at the far end of the couch. The space between them felt vast, an invisible chasm filled with everything left unsaid.
Y/N wrapped her hands around her mug, the warmth grounding her as she cleared her throat. “So,” she said softly, her voice steady despite the knot in her chest. “You wanted to talk?”
Bill nodded, his hands clasped tightly between his knees as he leaned forward. He stared down at the floor, gathering his thoughts, before finally looking up to meet her eyes.
“I owe you an explanation,” he began, his voice low but firm. “About why I left the way I did... and why it took me so long to come back.”
Y/N didn’t respond, but her gaze didn’t waver, urging him to continue.
Bill exhaled deeply, his shoulders sagging as if the weight of his guilt was pressing down on him. “That night... it wasn’t you, Y/N. It was me. I was scared, and I let that fear get the better of me.”
She tilted her head slightly, her expression unreadable. “Scared of what?”
He hesitated, his fingers tightening around each other. “Scared of how much I like you,” he admitted, his voice barely above a whisper. “Scared of ruining something good before it even had a chance to start.”
Y/N blinked, her lips parting slightly, but she said nothing, letting him keep going.
“It’s been a long time since I’ve let myself feel this way about someone,” Bill continued, his words coming quicker now as if he was afraid of losing his nerve. “After everything with Fleur, I told myself I didn’t need anyone else. That it was just me and Victoire, and that was enough. But then you came along...”
He trailed off, his gaze dropping to the floor again. “You’re kind, and warm, and you’ve been amazing with Victoire. She adores you. And somewhere along the way, I... I started to adore you too.”
Y/N’s breath hitched, her grip on the mug tightening as his words sank in.
“But that night,” Bill went on, his voice thick with regret, “I panicked. I thought I was coming on too strong, or that you didn’t feel the same way, or that I was dragging you into something you didn’t sign up for. And instead of talking to you about it, I ran.” He shook his head, his jaw clenching. “It was cowardly, and I’m so sorry, Y/N. You deserved better than that.”
The room was silent except for the soft ticking of a clock on the wall. Y/N stared down at her tea, her mind racing as she processed everything he had said.
“Bill,” she said quietly, finally breaking the silence. “I thought I did something wrong. I’ve spent the last week overanalyzing everything, wondering if I said or did something to push you away.”
His head snapped up, his eyes wide with alarm. “No,” he said quickly, his voice urgent. “You didn’t do anything wrong. This is all on me.”
Y/N’s gaze softened, but her expression remained guarded. “Why didn’t you just tell me how you were feeling? I would’ve listened.”
“I know,” Bill said, his tone laced with self-reproach. “I know you would’ve. But I was so caught up in my own head, I couldn’t see straight. I didn’t want to risk losing what we had, and in doing so, I almost lost it anyway.”
She nodded slowly, her fingers tracing the rim of her mug. “It hurt, Bill,” she admitted, her voice trembling slightly. “I’ve never let myself get close to someone like this before, and when you left, I felt... I don’t know, stupid for letting my guard down.”
“You’re not stupid,” he said firmly, leaning toward her. “If anything, I’m the idiot for not seeing what I had right in front of me.”
Their eyes met, and for the first time that evening, the tension between them seemed to ease, replaced by something softer, more tentative.
“I don’t expect you to forgive me right away,” Bill said, his voice gentle. “But I wanted you to know how sorry I am, and how much I care about you.”
Y/N studied him for a long moment, her expression thoughtful. Finally, she set her mug down and leaned back against the couch, her shoulders relaxing slightly.
“Thank you for saying that,” she said softly. “It means a lot.”
Bill nodded, his chest loosening as relief began to seep in. “So... where does that leave us?”
Y/N smiled faintly, her eyes meeting his. “I guess that depends on whether you’re willing to stop running and start talking.”
A small, hopeful smile curved his lips. “I think I can manage that.”
Bill cleared his throat, setting his empty mug on the coffee table. He turned toward her, his expression a mix of nervousness and determination. “Y/N, can I ask you something?”
“Of course,” she replied, tilting her head slightly, curiosity flickering in her eyes.
He hesitated, running a hand through his hair as he gathered his thoughts. “Would you come with me to the Burrow for dinner? With the family?”
Y/N blinked, caught off guard by the invitation. She hadn’t been back to the Burrow since the date, and the idea of facing everyone after the awkwardness of the past week made her stomach twist.
“I don’t know, Bill,” she said cautiously. “Things have been a little... complicated lately.”
He smiled wryly, nodding in understanding.
“Yeah, they’ve noticed.” His tone was light, but there was a flicker of embarrassment in his expression. “Actually, Mum made it pretty clear I wasn’t welcome until I sorted things out with you.”
Y/N’s eyes widened in surprise, and then she laughed softly. “Molly disinvited you from family dinner?”
“Not just Mum,” Bill admitted, his cheeks tinting slightly pink. “Fred and George have been giving me hell about it, Charlie hasn’t stopped with the pointed looks, and even Ginny told me I deserved a good hex. Honestly, I think Percy was the only one who didn’t weigh in, and that’s probably because he was too busy at work.”
Y/N couldn’t help but laugh again, the image of the formidable Weasley clan uniting to pressure Bill both amusing and oddly heartwarming. “Sounds like they’ve all been keeping you in line.”
“They’ve definitely made their opinions known,” Bill said with a grin. “But they’ve also made it clear that they miss you, Y/N. And so do I.”
Her laughter faded, replaced by a softer expression as she looked at him. “You miss me?”
He nodded, his gaze steady. “The Burrow hasn’t felt the same without you. Victoire keeps asking when you’re coming back, Mum’s been baking enough to feed an army in case you drop by, and, well... I’ve missed you too. More than I realised.”
The sincerity in his voice made Y/N’s chest tighten, but in a good way. The walls she’d built around herself since that night began to crack, the warmth of his words seeping through.
“Alright,” she said finally, a small smile tugging at her lips. “I’ll come. But only if you promise to run interference if Fred and George start asking too many questions.”
Bill laughed, relief washing over his features. “Deal. I’ll keep them in line. Well, as much as anyone can.” He extended a hand toward her, his smile soft but genuine. “Shall we?”
Y/N hesitated for only a moment before slipping her hand into his. His grip was warm and steady, grounding her as the familiar pull of Apparition wrapped around them.
The familiar, slightly lopsided silhouette of the Burrow came into view as Y/N and Bill Apparated onto the garden path. The house looked as lively as ever, with warm light spilling from the windows and the distant sound of voices carrying on the cool evening breeze. Y/N’s stomach twisted with nerves, though she couldn’t help but smile at the sight of the place she had grown to love so much.
“Ready?” Bill asked, his voice low as he turned to her. There was a flicker of concern in his eyes, as if he could sense her hesitation.
“As I’ll ever be,” she replied with a small smile, smoothing the front of her jumper.
He nodded and placed a hand on the small of her back, guiding her toward the door. Before they even reached the threshold, it swung open to reveal Molly, her expression lighting up the moment she saw Y/N.
“Oh, Y/N, dear!” Molly exclaimed, pulling her into a warm hug before she could say a word. “I was beginning to think you’d forgotten about us!”
Y/N laughed softly, hugging her back. “Never, Molly. I’ve just been... busy.”
Molly pulled back, her hands resting on Y/N’s shoulders as she looked her over. “Well, you’re here now, and that’s all that matters. Come in, come in, dinner’s almost ready!”
Before Y/N could respond, she was ushered inside, where the usual chaos of a Weasley family dinner awaited her. The air was filled with the rich aroma of roasted meats and freshly baked bread, and the sound of laughter and conversation came from every direction.
“Look who finally decided to show up!” Fred’s voice rang out from the kitchen, followed quickly by George’s. “And here we thought Bill had scared you off for good!”
Y/N rolled her eyes, though a laugh escaped her lips as Fred and George approached, identical grins plastered on their faces.
“Missed you, Y/N,” George said, pulling her into a quick, playful hug. “The Burrow’s been downright boring without you.”
“Speak for yourself,” Fred added, giving her a mock serious look. “I’ve been thriving in the peace and quiet.”
“Sure you have,” Y/N quipped, her nerves easing slightly under their teasing. “Let me guess, you’ve been thriving by pulling twice as many pranks on everyone now that I’m not here to stop you?”
“Caught us,” Fred admitted with a wink.
As the twins retreated to the dining table, Y/N turned to find Ginny approaching, her arms crossed but a warm smile on her face.
“About time you showed up,” Ginny said, giving her a quick hug. “I was starting to think we’d have to come drag you here ourselves.”
“I’m here now, aren’t I?” Y/N replied with a sheepish smile.
“Good,” Ginny said with a nod, her gaze flicking toward Bill, who was lingering nearby. “And don’t worry, we’ll behave. Mostly.”
Before Y/N could respond, a small whirlwind of curls barreled into her legs. “Y/N!” Victoire squealed, clutching her tightly. “You came!”
“Of course I did, sweetheart,” Y/N said, crouching down to hug her properly. “I couldn’t stay away forever, could I?”
Victoire pulled back, beaming. “I have so much to tell you! Uncle Charlie showed me a picture of a real dragon, and Aunt Ginny taught me a new spell, and—”
“Let’s save some stories for dinner, princess,” Bill interjected gently, his voice warm as he ruffled Victoire’s curls.
Victoire nodded eagerly and grabbed Y/N’s hand, tugging her toward the table. “You have to sit next to me!”
As Y/N followed, she caught Molly’s eye and saw the older woman’s satisfied smile. It was clear that Y/N’s return had made more than just Victoire’s evening.
When everyone had finally settled at the table, Arthur raised his glass. “To family,” he said warmly, his gaze sweeping over the group before landing on Y/N. “And to having you back with us, Y/N. You’ve been missed.”
The table erupted in a chorus of agreement, and Y/N felt her cheeks flush as she murmured her thanks. She glanced at Bill, who was seated across from her, and found him watching her with a soft, almost shy smile.
The rest of the evening passed in a blur of laughter, stories, and Molly’s incomparable cooking. Y/N felt the tension that had gripped her for the past week slowly unraveling, replaced by the warmth and chaos of the Weasley family. By the time dessert was served, she realized just how much she had missed this, and how grateful she was to be back.
As the night wound down and Victoire began to doze off in her chair, Y/N glanced at Bill, her heart feeling lighter than it had in days. For the first time in what felt like forever, things seemed to be falling into place.
The dinner plates were cleared, and the Burrow was beginning to quiet as the Weasleys filtered out or settled into their usual evening routines. The glow of a perfect evening lingered in the warm smiles and soft hum of conversation that still filled the house. Y/N leaned against the doorway of the kitchen, watching Bill scoop a sleepy Victoire into his arms.
“Come on, princess,” he said softly, adjusting her so she rested comfortably against his chest. Her curls spilled over his shoulder, and her tiny hand clutched at his shirt. “Time to head home.”
Victoire mumbled something incoherent, too far gone into the world of dreams to protest. Bill smiled down at her, brushing a stray curl from her face before turning to Y/N.
“You heading out too?” he asked, his voice casual, though his gaze lingered on her just a moment too long.
Y/N hesitated, unsure how to answer. Part of her wanted to stay longer, soak in the warmth of the Burrow and its inhabitants, but she didn’t want to overstep. “I probably should,” she said lightly, though her voice wavered just enough to betray her uncertainty.
Bill nodded, glancing down at Victoire as if weighing something in his mind. He adjusted her slightly, his free hand tucking into his pocket. Then he looked back at Y/N, his expression unreadable but filled with something she couldn’t quite place.
“Actually…” He paused, taking a breath as though steeling himself. “Would you—” He faltered, his ears tinging pink as he glanced away for a moment. “Would you want to stay the night? At Shell Cottage, I mean.”
Y/N blinked, caught off guard by the question. “Stay the night?” she repeated, her voice softer now.
Bill nodded, his eyes meeting hers again, this time with more confidence. “Yeah. It’s late, and Victoire would love it if you were there when she woke up. And… so would I.”
Her heart skipped at the honesty in his tone, the subtle vulnerability in the way he held her gaze. For a moment, the world seemed to slow, the quiet hum of the Burrow fading into the background.
“I…” She hesitated, a small smile tugging at her lips as she tried to suppress the sudden rush of warmth in her chest. “Are you sure? I don’t want to impose.”
“You’re not,” he said quickly, his voice firm but gentle. “You never are.”
The sincerity in his words melted away her remaining doubts. She nodded, her smile widening. “Okay. I’ll stay.”
Bill’s shoulders seemed to relax, the corners of his mouth lifting in a soft smile that reached his eyes. “Great,” he said, his tone laced with quiet relief. “Let’s get this little one home, then.”
As they stepped outside into the cool night air, Y/N felt the tension of the past week dissolve completely. The stars glittered above them, and the soft sound of the wind rustling through the trees made the world feel impossibly peaceful.
With Victoire nestled in Bill’s arms, they Apparated to Shell Cottage, where the waves crashed gently against the shore, and the cozy glow of the house welcomed them home.
As Bill carried Victoire to her room, Y/N stood in the living room, taking in the space that already felt so familiar. When he returned, he found her gazing out the window, the moonlight casting a soft glow across her face.
“Tea?” he offered, his voice quiet as he stepped closer.
She turned to him, her smile soft but radiant. “Sure.”
As they settled into the quiet rhythm of the evening, Y/N couldn’t help but feel that this—this ease, this connection—was the start of something she hadn’t even dared to hope for. And for the first time in a long time, the future felt full of possibility.

Paring: George Weasley x Fem!Reader
Summary: George thinks the best way to get to know you is to pretend he needs a tutor
A/N: This has nothing to do with a birthday but I wrote it yesterday as my birthday gift to myself because I wanted it.

George Weasley was not stupid by any means; he just chose to spend his time focusing on other things besides school. Him and his twin probably could get amazing grades if they wanted to but they didn’t want to. Both of them were fine being subpar in school because that wouldn’t matter anyway. However, George was always fantastic at Transfiguration. Though he would mess around and get on every single one of McGonagall’s nerves, he always managed to get the work done and ace the tests. Until recently that is.
The bell signaling the end of class rang and the students gathered their things. George laughed at something Fred said as he shoved his most recent test into his bag. “Mr. Weasley.” Came McGonagall’s voice from the front of the room. The Weasley twins turned to face her. “George, come here please.”
George sighed and waved to his brother. “I’ll see you at lunch.”
As Fred left, George made his way over to McGonagall’s desk. She glanced at him over the rim of her glasses, her face stern. “What can I do for you Minerva?” Her glare worsened and George cleared his throat. “I meant to say, what did I do now Professor?”
McGonagall sighed and folded her hands on her lap. “George, what’s happening to your grade? I know you usually only care about the minimum grade required to continue Quidditch in your other classes but typically, if you can believe it, you’re one of my top students.”
George shifted from foot to foot, unsure of what to tell her. He wasn’t about to tell her that he and his brother are planning on opening a joke shop after school. If she knew, he was sure she would disapprove or tell his mother. He was in his seventh year so really he knows he should be focusing on school and his grades but he wasn’t interested. “Just been busy.”
The look on her face told George she didn’t believe a word he said. “George, let's be honest. You have never studied for my class since your first year. I’ve seen you pay attention maybe 10 times. However, you still managed to get some of the best scores in your class, even your whole year. Want to fill me in on the actual reason your grades have dropped?”
George chewed on his lip as he debated telling her the truth. He could already hear Fred’s whining if he did tell McGonagall the truth but she was staring at him and likely wouldn’t stop until he spilled the beans. “Fred and I are planning to open a joke shop after school so really we don’t need to work hard in school.”
McGonagall sighed and shook her head. George was prepared for her to tell him it was a horrible idea; everyone else he bothered to tell thought they were idiots for wanting that. “I think it’s a wonderful idea but you can’t stop trying in your classes. I hate to do this but with your grade as is, you’re not allowed to participate in any Quidditch matches until your grade improves.”
“But Professor you can’t! The first game of the season is in three months. I have to play.” George went from elated to have her support to more heartbroken than he ever had been within seconds.
“I can and I just did. Now, I’ve taken the liberty of asking my top student to be your tutor. Once your grade has shown improvement, then you can go back to Quidditch.”
George knew there was no way to convince her to change her mind. Maybe if it hadn’t been his final year playing Quidditch, he wouldn’t have minded as much. George loved the sport but he could have lived without it for a few months if he had to. He didn’t want to but if he was forced, he would have survived. Being his last year at Hogwarts, he wouldn’t get any more games after the year was over so he had to make the most of it. Besides, maybe he could ditch the tutor and figure this all out on his own. Now that he was thinking about it, he hoped his tutor wasn’t horrible. “Who did you assign to be my tutor?”
At that moment, the door to the classroom opened and you walked in, your arms filled with books. He watched you with wide eyes, entranced by you. He’d seen you around the castle before but he never got the chance to speak with you. While he was causing chaos everywhere he went, you were always studying. George also knew that you were in the highest level class in all of your subjects; his know-it-all brother Percy would be pissed to know you were smarter than him. There was no denying how smart you were but George didn’t realize until this moment just how beautiful you were. Sure, he thought you were gorgeous from a distance but now that he was seeing you this close, gorgeous wasn’t enough to describe just how stunning you were. He should probably stop staring at you but he couldn’t take his eyes off of you.
“Miss Y/N? Please come see me.” McGonagall sounded like she was speaking through a tunnel. Her voice seemed to be so far away from George he wondered if you had actually put a spell on him. You set your belongings down on a desk before making your way up to the front of the room. With each step you took, George could feel his heart speeding up and his lungs struggling to get air.
“Yes Professor?” George stared at your lips as you spoke. He felt a little like a creep but he couldn’t stop watching.
“I was hoping you would be willing to tutor Mr. Weasley. I’d be happy to give you some extra credit if that would help.”
George held his breath, waiting for your answer. He was hopeful you would say yes even if it was just for the extra credit. “Sure.” George felt like he was flying on the fastest broom known to wizards after hearing your answer. The bell rang, meaning George would be late for charms but McGonagall had thought that through and handed him a note to explain his late arrival. McGonagall moved away from her desk, gathering papers from the students as you turned to George.
He could see your mouth moving but he couldn’t hear a single word coming from you. George saw your face contort into the most beautiful frown. What happened to make you so upset? Was it him? He searched your face for any indication on what could have gone wrong when you crossed your arms over your chest. “George? Can you meet me in the library after dinner?” You snapped your fingers in his face, causing him to come back down to earth.
“Oh, yeah sure. I can do that.”
With a roll of your eyes, you walked away from him and sat in your seat. McGonagall ushered him out of her class as he tried to wrap his brain around what just happened. Well, he had until tonight to get himself together.
---
After dinner, George made his way to the library, a room in the castle he hardly ever visited. Almost right away, George spotted you. Towards the middle of the room you sat at a table surrounded by books. With a little spring in his step, he bounded over to you, sliding into the seat across from you. “Hello Y/N. How are you this evening?”
You ignored him, grabbing a book and setting it in front of him. “Professor McGonagall said that you’ve been falling behind the past few months so I figured we could start easy to make sure you aren’t completely incompetent.” You dropped a handful of buttons onto the table and looked at him expectantly. “Turn them into beetles.”
George smiled and waved his wand, easily turning the buttons into colorful beetles that started to scurry away. Before you could react, he waved his wand again and they turned back into beetles.
“Follow me.” You grabbed your things and walked out to the courtyard, George following close behind. The courtyard was full of other students messing around before it was time for bed. He saw quite a few students with bright orange and purple boxes; he would have to tell Fred he saw their products being used out in the wild. George was too distracted watching the other people he didn’t see that you had stopped, causing him to ram right into you. You stumbled backwards and George shot his arm out to catch you around your waist, saving you from falling into the fountain.
“Sorry.” He mumbled, a crooked smile on his face. You scowled, trying to keep your own smile hidden. He was cute, you could admit that. However, he was loud and obnoxious and clearly didn’t care about anything but himself.
You cleared your throat and moved his arm away from you. His cheeks turned almost as bright red as his hair which you found to be endearing. “Turn this rock into a frog.” You picked up a rather large rock from the ground and set it on the edge of the fountain. With ease, George did as you asked and made a perfect frog.
The series of tests continued. You would tell George to transfigure something and he would do it without issue. Even the harder spells he did perfectly. This made no sense to you. Why would McGonagall claim that he needed a tutor when clearly he could do everything just fine? “Are you pretending to be stupid or something?” You finally asked George as you both walked in the castle, heading to your common rooms.
George looked at you in surprise. “What do you mean? I need a tutor.”
“No you don’t George. You did every spell perfectly. Even the one I gave you from my class which you are not in. You’re smart. On Monday I’m going to tell McGonagall you don’t need any help.”
Absolutely not. There was no way he was going to just let you go like that. You were far too smart to be in any of his classes and you were never around when he had any free time. No, George wanted to spend time with you no matter what. “Can we at least meet up again tomorrow just to make sure I know everything?”
You crossed your arms over your chest, sure there had to be some sort of trick forming in his brain. “Fine. Tomorrow at the lake at three. Don’t be late.”
“Wouldn’t dream of it.”
---
The next day, George waited by the lake for you, a plan forming in his head. It wasn’t his best plan but George knew if he wanted to see you again, something would have to happen. As you approached the lake, you watched George. He was much more calm when he was alone, something that you really liked. While you hardly ever spoke to him before yesterday, you had seen him around school with his brother and friends. He was so loud and open and just excited to be alive so it seemed. He was very different now on his own but you liked it. It was easier to admire his handsome features when they were relaxed. Though, he was very handsome when he was laughing and smiling too. You could even argue he was more attractive when he was happy but it was just easier to see him like this.
George spotted you and a wide bright smile crossed his face. He jumped to his feet and swooped down into a bow as you approached him. Despite trying not to smile, you couldn’t help but giggle at his theatrics. “Good morrow to you my fair lady.” He reached out and took your hand in his, kissing it.
With a roll of your eyes, you took your hand from his and dipped into a curtsy. “Good morrow to you, kind sir.” If it was even possible, George’s smile widened at your answer. He stood up straight and took your hand once again to lead you to a blanket he had set up. There was a picnic basket overflowing with snacks and a bottle of what you were sure was not champagne. Upon closer inspection, it was sparkling apple cider.
George blushed a little as he watched you take in the setup. “I thought you might appreciate snacks while you tutor me. It’s no easy job.”
You chuckled and set your books down on the blanket. “George, you’re incredibly easy to tutor. You already know everything.” You opened one of your books and searched through it to find a spell for him to try. You wanted something that wasn’t too difficult but still should challenge him. You settled on a spell you had been working on in your advanced class. “See that big boulder?” George nodded. “Turn it into a pig.”
Seeing how well he did yesterday, you were sure this would be a spell he could easily pick up on. George cleared his throat and nodded, moving closer to the rock. He cast the spell and instead of the rock turning into a pig like you expected, nothing happened. You both frowned as he tried again. And again. And again. George tried to turn the boulder into a pig for ten minutes but he never managed to do it.
“Well, maybe that one was a little harder. Why don’t you try the one we did yesterday?” You stood and grabbed a small rock to set in front of him. “Can you make it a frog?” He should be able to easily do it since he did it perfectly yesterday.
George flashed you a cocky smile. “Of course I can.” With a flick of his wand, the small rock grew frog legs but was still a rock. You both watched as the rock tried to hop around. George tried to hide his smile as you turned to him in shock. This is exactly what he had been planning on. All last night he thought about ways to keep you around. He thought that maybe if he swept you off your feet then you would be impressed and want to spend time with him but he worried it wouldn’t be enough. So, he decided to suck at transfiguration. If he was horrible then you would continue to be his tutor and he could spend more time with you and get to know you more. Then after all of that, you could at least be his friend if not more. Of course he’d have to still do better on his tests and homework so he could stay on the Quidditch team.
Sensing some bullshit, you crossed your arms over your chest. “Interesting. Maybe we should go back to the beginning?” You dug around in your bag and pulled out a matchstick. “This is one of the first spells you learn. Matchstick to needle.” Theoretically, this should be even easier than the buttons and beetles he did yesterday. Turning one inanimate object to another inanimate object is extremely easy; he should be able to do it without issue.
George nodded and took the matchstick from your hand, letting his fingers linger on your palm just a little longer than he needed. He set it on the ground and cast the spell but once again, nothing happened. George turned to look at you, hoping to see a confused expression on your face but he didn’t. You were looking more bored than anything. “Huh, I guess I do really need a tutor.”
You stared at him, wondering if he’s really doing what you think he’s doing. “George, are you pretending to be stupid?” It was the same question you asked him yesterday.
George gave you a sly smile. “What do you mean? I need a tutor.” He answered you, saying the exact same thing he said yesterday. You rolled your eyes and started packing up your things. George rushed over to you and grabbed one of your books. “Please wait.”
“No George. You knew you didn’t need a tutor and yet you insisted on meeting with me again today to what? Lie? Give me my book.”
George looked between you and the book in his hand before he slowly handed it over. “Can I at least explain why I did this?” This was all blowing up in his face. Somehow he thought that maybe you wouldn’t realize what he had been doing but he should have known someone as smart as you would have noticed.
“Fine.”
He was surprised you even gave him the time to explain himself. “I wasn’t trying to use you or waste your time. I just wanted to spend time with you and I thought this would be the best way.” He rocked on his feet as he waited for any response from you.
“Why would you need to create some dumb excuse to spend time with me?” You hated it but your heart was fluttering at the idea that George wanted to spend time with you.
George flushed bright red and rubbed a hand on the back of his neck. “Well, I think you’re really pretty and I wanted to get to know you more.”
Neither of you moved. George kept his eyes on the floor while you watched him. You had never been one to be bold; that was more George’s speciality. However, today was the time you needed to be bold. “I happen to think you’re really pretty too.”
George’s head snapped up and he looked at you with wide eyes. As he got over his shock, he smiled brightly. “Well, then what do you say we turn this tutor session into a date?” He gestured to the picnic blanket behind him.
“I’d really like that. Just promise me one thing?”
“Anything.”
You smiled and grabbed his hands in yours. “Don’t ever pretend to be stupid again.”

George asking you to the yule ball ends in a date<3 (i did not write in the yule ball because I'm lazy😞)
Fluff🫶
My requests are open!! I mainly write for ron weasley, george weasley, and neville longbottom:)
You are sitting with Harry and Hermione in the great hall after classes, talking about homework and relaying the events of their days, Seamus blowing up another potion in snape's class, george and fred planting fireworks in proffesor flitwick's office, and just about a dozen girls being asked to the yule ball. You hadn't been asked yet, it kind of disappointed you but you tried not to take it personally. Neither ron or Harry had a date either, you could probably just hang around them during the ball. Obviously you could've asked either of them, but who you really wanted was george weasley, and it would've been too weird to ask his younger brother, or his younger brother's best friend who was basically part of their family by now, despite both of them being your age.
Suddenly Harry casts a weird glance past your shoulder, looking confused and intrigued. Hermione turns to look as well, a small smirk forming on her face. Curiosity gets the best of you, and you turn as well only to see the one and only george weasley being pushed to your table by ron and fred. George was protesting and desperately trying to escape their grasp, but they kept pushing him forward as they giggled. He looked panicked and flustered, and you groan as you assume they're pushing him to ask someone, probably Hermione or some other girl sitting near you. It was too much to bear to watch, so you turn back to face the table and sulk, your head propped up, resting on your palm.
"Y/n!" You hear Fred's voice call.
You look up and back at them, finding the three of them standing behind you, george looking panicked, his face flushed as he chews on his bottom lip.
"Georgie here has something to ask you" fred says in a mischievous voice, casting a smug glance at george, who shoots a glare back.
Ron is giving a small thumbs up to Harry and Hermione, replicating Fred's smirk.
You look from ron to fred before settling your gaze on george. He's starting to sweat slightly, his hands tugging at his sleeves.
He takes a deep breath before choking out the question you had been dreaming of being asked.
"Will you go to the ball with me?" He staggers out, looking hopeful.
You hesitate for a moment, and you can see his face fall as you don't respond right away.
"I told you it was a bad idea" he grumbles to fred, starting to loosen from their grip to walk away, he looked as if he had just been slapped.
"Wait! George wait" you quickly spurt out.
He meets your gaze again, you can see tears pricking at his eyes as he desperately tries to blink them away.
"I'd love to go with you" you say in a soft voice.
He looks doubtful for a moment, searching your face for any sign of uncertainty. But your face is genuine, and his doubtful look melts into a relieved smile.
"You mean it?" He asks quietly.
You're now smiling like an idiot, finally having processed the situation.
"I mean it" you reply, excitement evident in your voice.
Fred has a smug and proud look on his face, his arms crossed as he whispers
"I told you so" to george.
Harry, ron, and Hermione chime in with their congratulations, all looking happy for the two of you.
"And if it's not too much to ask, astronomy tower tonight?" George asks sheepishly.
You nod, your face flushing.
You hadnt gone to the astronomy tower with him in a while. at first it was a group activity, the golden trio had been introduced to the secluded spot by the twins, who typically joined them after sneaking up there became a regular activity every night. Slowly the golden trio and fred stopped attending, leaving only you and George. This is where your bond with George had grown stronger. Lately the habit had stopped due to fred and George working on who knows what.
George nods back, trying to bite back his excitement, but the huge smile on his face giving it away.
"Alright that's enough lover boy, we have to get back to our project" fred says as he starts to drag George away.
You watch as they leave, George glancing back at you every few seconds before disappearing into the hall.
Ron takes his seat next to you.
"Bloody hell you have no idea how long I've been waiting for that, he's been bothering me for WEEKS" ron says, "always asking me these stupid questions, 'do you think she likes me?' 'What are her favorite flowers?' 'Has anyone asked her yet?'"
Your heart skips a beat at Ron's words, it was endearing, a warm feeling searing through your body, making you feel weak.
Ron continues blabbering on about george for the next 30 minutes, he's never been good at holding onto a secret and you're surprised he didn't let anything slip before george asked you.
You eventually get up to go get ready to see George, leaving the three of them behind.
You rush up to your dorm, taking a quick shower and using a few charms to dry and perfect your hair. Your hair is pulled into a half up half down style, with a bow placed neatly at the hairtye. You look stunning in your outfit of choice, and your perfume sprayed across your chest smells heavenly.
You silently slip out of your dorm and out of the common room into the hallway. The moonlight shining through the windows lights up your way to the astronomy tower. When you arrive in the astronomy tower, climbing through the hatch, you're met with the sight of candles and George standing there waiting for you. He looks nervous, he's holding a bouquet of your favorite flowers. He offers his hand to help you to your feet before handing you the flowers, smiling shyly. Your heart skips a beat, the flowers are beautiful, but George looks stunning. His hair finally brushed out, he smells amazing, his cheeks tinted a light pink, and his smile radiating joy. He offers his hand again to lead you to a blanket set up on the floor with soft pillows and more blankets. The both of you sit down, getting comfortable. He hands you a small gift bag. You take it, inspecting it carefully. As you take out the wrapping paper, you find a box of your favorite chocolates, a small box, and a folded paper. You reach for the box first, opening it carefully to see a beautiful necklace, with a gemstone of your favorite color cut into the shape of a heart. George smiles at you before speaking, "open the note"
You take out the note, opening it slowly and reading
"I saw this necklace in hogsmeade a few weeks ago and it reminded me of you, maybe you could wear it to the ball :)"
You feel your face heat up, this is one of the nicest things anyone has ever done for you.
You place the items back in the bag and set it aside, going in to hug him tightly.
"Thank you george, it's beautiful, all of this is beautiful" you whisper as he embraces you back.
As you pull away he looks overjoyed, his eyes sparkling in the starlight.
"I'm glad you like it, I had a feeling you would" he replies in a gentle voice.
As the night goes on, the two of you talk, joke around, and watch the stars.
By the end of your time together, he walks you back to your dorm, your hand intertwined with his.
As you stop at your door, he turns to face you.
He watches your face for a second, his gaze tracing your features and lingering on your lips.
He looks up into your eyes, silently asking for permission.
His face lights up as you nod, he leans in slowly, his gaze never leaving your face before pressing his lips to yours. You close your eyes just as he does, kissing back gently. Your lips interlocked in a sweet, slow kiss. As he pulls away, he looks completely starstruck.
"I'll see you tomorrow, sleep well" he whispers, waiting for you to open your door and go in before leaving.
Before you close the door you whisper back,
"You too, thank you for tonight George, the ball will be amazing"

A/N: You all voted on this poll, and this poll, and this poll and after a LOT of voting ((((again) again) again) again), I present this to thee ;) I was working on a time crunch lmao I literally have to wake up for school in like 6.5 hours :,) but I wanted to get this out for Fred’s birthday :). And to @your-local-multi-geek, thanks for staying up and beta reading this for me:) Might make a part two of this…it’s really short. Here's my masterlist!
Warning(s): f!reader, Fred and reader are dating, reader is a Slytherin, we’re going to the Yule Ball!, reader’s a badass lmao, Fred is taller than reader (shh he will always be tall to me), characters might be a little ooc, secret relationship reveal, reader wears a dress, Fred calls reader love, reader calls him handsome.
Pairing: Fred Weasley x Girlfriend!Reader
•───•°•❀•°•─── ᴀɢᴀɪɴꜱᴛ ᴛʜᴇ ᴡᴏʀʟᴅ ────•°•☁︎•°•───•
You felt amazing.
Like really amazing.
Standing there in your gown, you stare at the way your dress hugs you just right, and Merlin did you look good.
Even better, you felt good.
You smirk, the reflection in your mirror smirking back at you, with a daring look in your eye that could rival a Gryffindor’s.
Tonight was the Yule Ball, and you planned on making a statement. You were ambitious, like the rest of your house, but you weren’t as bad as the general public made you out to be. You were kind, and brave, and maybe you enjoyed to stir up trouble on occasion (nothing harmless though), and you (rightfully) thought of yourself in a high regard- not enough to come off as snobbish or arrogant, but definitely enough to show someone that at a glance, you were confident, and you knew how to stand your ground.
That’s how you met Fred- and how you created quite a reputation for yourself.
That’s how you met Fred.
Only a year and a half ago, some pricks from within your own house had been picking a fight with the aforementioned ginger and his twin brother. Both parties would’ve ended with less than ideal injuries, had you not stepped in and basically gave each an every one of them a run down as to why they were being idiots and precisely how each of them messed up.
At first, the Slytherin group had laughed in your face, finding the fact that a girl only a year below them thought she was superior to those older than her funny.
They didn’t seem to find your Aguamenti charm as amusing though, dousing them and their robes in ice cold water, glaring at them with an ever colder stare as spluttered and cursed, deciding that angering you further wasn’t worth it.
They may have thought you scary- but in that moment, Fred fell in love.
The months following said encounter involved the Weasley to attempt to befriend you in any way he could, and you were happy to oblige- knowing that he was a good person despite his pranks, and in all honesty, threatening people would be a lot more fun with the support of one of the most destructive students at Hogwarts.
You two had become close, and after one secluded night in the Astronomy Tower, the both of you started dating.
No one knew though.
Until tonight.
Fred had asked you to be his date to the Yule Ball, to which you accepted, with a wide grin on your face.
It was going to be so fun to see the looks on everyone’s faces at the mere thought of a Gryffindor and a Slytherin dating, much less be willing to have the company of the other.
But if anyone was going to break that stereotype, it was you and Fred.
Other than the two of you, George was the only other person who knew about your relationship, cackling when he found out what the two of you were planning to do.
As the two of you discussed, you would meet up by the kitchens, so that no one would notice the two of you together until you would enter the Great Hall.
You waited, running your fingertips along the fruit of the painting that concealed the entrance, occupying yourself by observing every single paint stroke and fiber of the canvas to occupy your time.
Lost in your own world, you don’t notice anyone approaching you until a steady arm encircles your waist, holding you snug against their chest.
You register smell of cinnamon, the familiar scent of your boyfriend wafting into your nose. You giggle, realizing Fred put on some cologne too.
Spinning around in his arms, you place your hands on his chest, smiling up at him as you drink in his features. His hair was messy, as usual, but you couldn’t deny that he still looked dashing as ever in his tuxedo, black cloth hugging him perfectly and allowing you to see the faint outline of his muscles. A button on his undershirt was left undone, holding it in your fingers as you rest your chin on his chest, looking up at him through your eyelashes.
He chuckles, brushing a strand of your hair out of your face and pressing a kiss to the corner of your lips in awe.
“You look beautiful, love.” He whispers, his voice just below a whisper, and yet you heard him perfectly.
“And you as well, handsome.” You say, pressing a kiss to his nose gently, and take yourself out of his embrace in favor of entwining his hand in yours.
“Are you ready?”
“It’s you and me against the world, love.”

The Bet- Fred Weasley x Reader
Y/n bets Fred that she can get him to admit his jealousy before the end of the week. It does not go how either of them planned.
TW: none
Word Count: 2,900
--------------------
“You’re an idiot” George stated plainly.
“Hang on- what have I done already? It’s only 9 in the morning” Fred retorted.
“The bet”
“Godric, she works quickly. How does everyone know already?”
“Because you’ve gone absolutely mental thinking you can win!” Lee piped in as he sat down at the table, “Everyone’s talking about how badly you’re going to lose”
Fred’s mind drifted back to last night.
…
“What did he kill your grandma or something? Why are you looking at him like that?” Y/n teased.
“Like what?” Fred replied, with his eyes still locked on Draco.
“Hang on are you jealous?”
“No,” He argued, still eyeing the Slytherin boy, “How did he get ahold of your gloves in the first place?”
“I left them there after our one-night stand last week.”
“What?” Fred’s focus whipped to her.
“You are jealous!”
“I’m not! Just …concerned for your well-being. Did you actually?”
“Of course not you twat. I left them at quidditch practice and he picked them up for me,” She answered, watching as Fred went back to eyeing Draco, “Why won’t you admit you’re jealous?”
“Because I’m not”
“Right… Interesting”
“What is?” Fred finally relaxed as Draco went out of the room.
“That you are jealous, but you just won’t admit it,” Y/N replied as she shoved his shoulder playfully.
“I won't admit it because I’m not jealous,” Fred said pushing her shoulder right back, “Why do you care? I think you want me to be jealous,”
“Wanna bet?”
“On what?”
Fred was slightly anxious. Deep down he knew he was a little jealous. Protective even. But he knew if he admitted it, it would mean admitting his feelings for her, which he was NOT ready to do just yet.
“I bet that I can make you admit you’re jealous by the end of this week,” Y/n challenged.
“You’re on.”
“Good,” Y/n stuck out her hand for him to shake.
“Hang on,” Fred took a confident step closer, instantly making y/n hyper-aware of their proximity, “What do I get if I win?” Fred brushed a loose strand of hair behind her ear, clearly testing her.
“If you win,” Y/n whispered while taking another step impossibly closer, “I’ll do your potions homework for a week.”
She could feel his chest against hers now but she was not backing down now.
“But if I win,” she continued, “You have to ask me to the Yule Ball- In front of everyone.”
“Deal,” Fred scoffed and shook her hand.
…
“Drag it out as long as you can mate, I’ve started a betting pool” George held up a pouch full of sickles, ever so annoyingly.
“WHY is everyone so convinced I’ll lose?” Fred hissed.
“Because you’re head over heels for her! And because of that,” Lee pointed behind him. All the boys directed their attention to the front of the Great Hall.
“Bloody Hell” George laughed out.
There she was. Standing at the front of the great hall in all her glory was y/n. But instead of her usual sweater and jeans, she sported a tight black turtle neck with a leather skirt resting just below her mid-thigh cleverly directing everyone’s eyes down her toned legs covered by sheer black pantyhose wrapped up neatly by a pair of stunning black heels. She looked absolutely drop-dead gorgeous and much to Fred’s dismay everyone recognized it.
She was currently surrounded by a gaggle of third years, shamelessly trying to catch the older girl’s attention. But there was one specific person who made Fred’s blood boil. To Y/n’s right- stood Cormac, ever the overconfident flirt, making Y/n laugh. Fred couldn’t believe it. He almost, almost, stood up, but at the last second Y/N caught his eyes, so Fred sat back down and directed his attention back to his food.
“Oi! Fred!” Dean Thomas called, approaching Fred, “Are you and Y/N still seeing each other?”
“We were never seeing each other Dean,” Fred hissed through clenched teeth.
“Oh. So you wouldn’t mind if I asked her out?” Lee asked bluntly. George had the nerve to laugh at the 4th year’s audacity, earning a glare from his twin across the table.
“Go right ahead,” Fred approved.
“Wicked.” Dean hurried away towards y/n fixing his robes as he went.
“Have I mentioned you’re entirely, utterly, and completely stupid?” George reminded once more.
“Shut up.”
…
That afternoon Fred sat at the desk in y/n’s room patiently awaiting her arrival. She was supposed to meet him 10 minutes ago, but still no sign of her.
Five more minutes passed and Y/N finally rolled in. Amongst her hair sat a small red flower tucked behind her ear delicately.
“What is that?” Fred pointed to the improvised hairpiece.
“A flower. Dean gave it to me. Red for love or Gryffindor or some rubbish. I don’t know.”
“So now you’re flirting with Dean Thomas? He’s two years below us!”
“Not flirting Fred, simply accepting a gift. Why? Are you jealous?” She challenged crossing to lean on the desk near him.
“I didn’t say that.”
“Right,” She relented rolling her eyes, “Well then, ready to study?”
“If we must”
…
Some days came and went and pretty soon it was Wednesday.
How on Earth is it only Wednesday? Fred thought. He was miserable.
For the past three days, he watched boys trip over themselves just to get near Y/N. He didn’t think she’d carried her own books to class the entire week, not to mention the sweets on her desk had now grown to be a small mountain. It seemed everyone in Hogwarts was determined to make him forfeit. But Fred, just as stubborn as y/n, would not give in that easily.
Today was the Slytherin vs Hufflepuff game. Fred and George routinely made their way up to the stands to support their best friend and third favorite beater: Y/n.
“Bloody hell I’ve never seen the Slytherin stand so packed,” Fred commented as he pushed through the crowd.
“Not to put salt on your wound mate, but I think you know why they’re here” George replied making his own way to the front.
“Unfortunately I’m painfully aware.”
“You have to admit. She does look pretty bloody hot when she’s playing” George poked,
Receiving a sharp smack on his chest from his twin.
“Hey hey! I am not the enemy… Simply pointing out the obvious,” He added.
Smack
“Alright!!”
~~~
“That was mad!” Lee exclaimed.
“I’ve never seen Hufflepuff eat shit that badly” George added.
“Come on. Let’s go find her” Fred said. He may have been in a bad mood, but even he couldn’t deny that it was an amazing game for Slytherin. The boys journeyed down the stairs to wait for the team outside the showers. As they got closer Fred rolled his eyes at the sight before him.
“Sorry gents!” Fred loudly announced to the small village waiting outside the showers for Y/n, “Y/N has already left! Snuck out through the back. Looks like you’ll have to obnoxiously fight for her affections some other time,” he ended, clapping a few of them on their backs.
Fred’s call seemed to clear out most of the crowd including a very disappointed Dean Thomas.
“Right then, that’s better,” Fred sighed.
“You’re encouragable” George muttered.
“Are those my favorite twins I hear?” Y/N exclaimed as she exited the locker room. Her hair was damp and beginning to curl up from the shower and lack of a proper comb.
“That was bloody brilliant,” George congratulated as he hugged her tightly.
“That was a pretty gruesome game,” Fred said, abandoning his usual cocky persona for a more timid one.
“And here I thought you wouldn’t come,” Y/N cood as she crossed over to Fred.
“I’m not jealous.”
“Didn’t say you were”
George cut in, “Right, as entertaining as you two are, I’ve got a date with my pillow. Great game Y/n.” George clapped her on the back and made a quick exit.
“He’s right you know” Fred turned toward the girl.
“About what?”
“You were pretty ‘bloody brilliant’,” he mocked his twin’s tone.
“Thanks, It helped to have my good luck charm in the stands as usual,” she beamed at him.
“Yeah… Well, I’m off then,” Fred said beginning to leave.
“Fred!” She halted the boy, “Um- Well I just… Thanks for coming.”
“Yeah of course.”
~~~
The party was a rager. Gryffindor had just won the Friday match and it seemed like all of Hogwarts was celebrating. The common room was packed with people from all different houses dancing, chatting, and of course drinking.
There was only one rule to get in: you’ve got to wear red and gold.
Fred, however, made sure to deliberately leave that detail a mystery to Y/N. As usual, he had a plan. He figured that this being the last night of their little bet, she would be plotting a scheme of her own, so he would have to beat her before she beat him. His plan was simple: she would show up at the door, not wearing the required colors, and he would graciously offer him his jersey. With no other option, she would be forced to wear a shirt with a big fat “WEASLEY” on the back, easily warding off potential suitors. Now all he had to do was wait for her to show up.
And show up she did. His plan was right on track. She approached the portrait hole confidently; strutting up in an emerald green Slytherin sweater. Perfect.
“Ope, sorry love, gonna have to stop you there.” Fred said blocking her path, “Red or gold required to get in.”
“What?”
“Yup. No entry for green. Sorry darling,” Fred smiled at her oh so sweetly. Y/N tried to ignore the little flutter of her heart when he used that pet name for her.
“But you are in luck!” He continued, “I just so happen to have this!” Fred proudly pulled out and presented his jersey to her, thinking he had won.
“Mhm. Let me get this straight,” Y/n exaggerated, “You ‘just so happen’ to have forgotten to tell me the dress code, and you ‘just so happen’ to have a shirt for me, but it ‘just so happens’ that it has the word ‘WEASLEY’ plastered all over the back?” She saw right through him.
“Yup,” Fred popped the p of the word as he held out the shirt to her.
But Fred had made one fatal mistake, he had forgotten the very reason he fancied this particular woman oh so much: her boldness.
“Right,” She began to speak loudly, as to attract the attention of everyone in the room, “SO I CAN'T COME IN WITH THIS SHIRT, BUT IF I CHANGE TO RED OR GOLD I CAN ENTER?”
“Yes?” Fred hesitated. What was she up to?
“WELL FINE!” She exclaimed, and Fred watched in shock and might he say admiration as the next few actions unfolded in front of him.
Y/n reached down and proudly pulled off her shirt over her head, revealing a bright red bra underneath.
Fred gaped at her. He definitely had not seen this coming, but by god was that attractive. He didn’t know if it was her confidence or just the proximity to her shirtless chest, but Fred Weasley was truly at a loss for words.
“Let the woman in!” Someone shouted from the crowd, and Fred stepped aside to watch as she walked past smirking. How did his plan manage to go that badly?
“It’s alright mate you made a valiant effort,” George appeared patting his shoulder, “But if you do lose I’ve got five galleons on it. I suppose I could share some of the profit.”
“I need a drink,” Fred uttered.
“That’s the spirit.”
~~~
The party raged on, and it was getting dangerously close to midnight. Y/n knew she had to finish this and fast. Luckily, she had the advantage. Fred had been hitting the fire whisky pretty hard, and best of all Cormac had entered the ring once more.
“Hey,” Y/n said approaching Cormac, “You played pretty well, I couldn’t help but watch.”
Actually, she could. She hadn’t even noticed him. In fact, she was pretty sure she was transfixed with a certain Gryffindor beater for most of the game, but she put that aside for now. She was winning this bet.
“Hello beautiful,” He smiled. She internally cringed at his words but persisted.
“Can I sit?”
“Of course” Cormac shoved over to make room for her. Y/n glanced at the clock, getting slightly nervous. 11:30. 30 more minutes- time to be bold. She stole a glance in Fred’s direction, who unfortunately seemed distracted talking to Lee, and with a deep inhalation, sat directly on Cormac’s lap.
“Well hello,” he praised as he placed a hand on her thigh. She fought the urge to move it away and pushed onward once more.
“Hello,” she flirted, glancing back at Fred again. Still not watching. Fuck. Why won’t he look at her? Why won’t Cormac STOP looking at her? Abruptly Y/n became startlingly aware of her shirtlessness.
“You look quite fit tonight. Really a killer outfit,” he joked.
She laughed, LOUDLY, Too loudly to seem natural but it seemed to have caught George’s eye. She hoped he would deliver the news to Fred. The clock was ticking.
Carefully, she placed a hand on Cormac’s chest.
“So do you, but maybe that’s just the fire whiskey talking,” Y/n flirted.
Now it was Cormac’s turn to laugh. Smoothly, he moved his hand from her thigh to her waist, pulling her closer to him. Her chest felt so exposed up against his Jersey, but she had to keep pressing forward. The conversation was going slow, too slow. 11:45. Where was Fred?
“Tell me Y/n- was this bra for me? Or was this just a happy accident,” her brain was screaming at her to bail. To call the whole thing off. But she was so close, Fred would be here soon. She was sure of it.
“Well I-“
“Y/n.” Fred FINALLY cut in. “Can I have a word?”
~~~
Fred ushered her quickly into his room. 11:50.
“The hell was that?” Fred was seething, “Cormac? I knew you were stubborn but I didn’t think you were that cruel.”
“Why? Jealous?” She teased, not quite grasping just how angry he was.
“Why is this a game to you? Why am I a game to you?” Fred sat down facing away from her, raking his fingers through his copper hair.
Y/n was dumbstruck. What just happened?
“What?” She was thoroughly confused.
Fred continued from his seat, “This whole thing. Do you think I wanted to be jealous? Do you think that I like how unreasonably irritated I get when someone else wants to carry your books? Why did you have to go and embarrass me for it? I’m sorry I ever even cared for you like that.”
“Fred- like what? What are you saying?”
“You know well what I mean. It’s already painful enough knowing I’m just a friend.”
“Fred, I guess I’m confused I-”
“I’m in love with you alright? I was perfectly fine loving you in secret! Why did you have to go and mess it all up?” He confessed, his temper getting the better of him. “Just forget it. Clearly, my feelings aren’t that important to you” He stood quickly and headed for the door.
“Fred wait!” He barreled out the door and down to the common room attempting to weave through all the people. Y/n was hot on his tail. “Fred- wait- please- just slow down a minute!”
He continued to push through and out of the portrait.
“Fred!” She followed just behind him, but he didn’t stop. Barreling all the way down through passageways and tunnels until finally reaching the boat house. He stopped on the edge of the dock, and she followed.
“You twat!” She accused.
“Oh, I’m the twat? You’re ridiculous,” He scoffed, turning to face her to argue further, but before he could she cried out.
“Oh for fucks sake!” Roughly, she grabbed the collar of his robes and yanked him closer to her, planting his lips directly on hers before removing them again.
He stared at her shocked, and for the second time tonight, Fred was at a loss for words.
“Did you seriously think I did all of this to embarrass you? Fred, I’m in love with you! I just was tired of dropping hints all the time, so I was hoping this might push you to admit your feelings. I had no idea it would go this far.”
“You- you love me too?”
“Of course I do! Fred, you and I both saw this week, that if I wanted to date someone else I could. But I don’t, okay? Can you get that through your thick skull?”
He stared at her. She stared at him. Gingerly, he approached her raising a hand up to hold her cheek in his palm.
“Y/n?” He whispered.
“Fred?”
The boy slowly moved his hand to grab her chin and pulled her lips closer, but just before they touched he stopped. Smirking he uttered, “It’s 12:05. You owe me some potions homework.”
“You’re insufferable,” she muttered as she finally closed the gap between them.
The kiss was slow and deliberate. The new couple was savoring their first real taste of each other. He tastes just like caramel she noted as he lightly nipped at her bottom lip. Y/n reached up to his neck to pull him closer, but Fred broke the kiss.
“Would you like to take this upstairs?” He asked, “Although the dress code for my room is no red so you’ll probably have to take that off.”
“Prick,” She said with a smile as she brought her lips back down to his.

HOW COME?
Pairings: Fred Weasley x Fem!reader Summary: you go to the Joke shop and take a look around, not realising one of the owners watching you the whole time Warnings: none?
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/709627db428652ad5f8ca971fd189922/6d99279da52fd05d-a4/s540x810/0d14ed5484cdc6c7ecf7e346f74cb6a020f2aa8c.jpg)
the shop was filled with kids and their parents, looking at everything that piled the shelves, kids wanting to buy everything and the parents shaking their heads at them. you managed to squeeze through and get some room to breath
they'd only been open for a week and it was this packed, it was an understatement to call this shop a hit.
the fluorescent colours were blinding you as you turned to see a boy, his face turning green with his mum by his side.
you looked around, smiling at every item you see. not knowing you were being watched from the second story of the shop.
you always knew the twins were gonna open a joke shop, but now that you're in it, reality hit you, they had really made their dreams come true. and they were successful.
you were friends of theirs, sort of- you weren't in their group but you three definitely talked quite a bit. if there was a project for potions- they would ask for your help and if you were paired up in transfiguration they would do their part.
you made your way over to the area that was glowing with pink and saw a large stand in the shape of flowers, glowing pink and creating little heart bubbles, it made you smile.
you picked up one of the bottles and read the label. you shook your head with a slight laugh as you read love potion in a pretty font.
"I'll give you a discount for that if you want" you heard his voice from behind you
you turned to see Fred with a smile on his face
"but, then again, it would be a useless purchase" he smirked at you, stepping closer, looking down at you
"how come? do they not work?" you asked curiously
"oh they work perfectly, but you're not gonna need it" he shook his head ammused
"and why is that?" you questioned, tilting your head
truth be told, you always had feelings for the boy, he ticked all your boxes. funny, loyal, tall, confident, passionate and witty.
but he was just so popular and almost every girl you know was swoon over him
"why try to use something when it's already worked without it?" he chuckled.
Fred would be an idiot to deny his feelings for you. he never would've told you this in Hogwarts, he never would've been this straight forward with you about this before, because even THE popular Fred Weasley was self-conscious sometimes.
he sometimes just looked at you and felt as though he wasn't enough, that he couldn't give you what you deserved
but now he was a successful business man, making big bucks. when he saw you enter the shop 10 minutes ago, he knew what he had to do, he knew he could give you anything your heart desired, if you'll have him
"how so? last time i checked I've had no guy chase after me" you laughed, putting the bottle down beside you on the flower stand.
you raised your eyebrows at him, waiting for his response
"who knows, maybe he hasn't been around you for a while, maybe he was waiting for you to come to him" he shrugged confidently.
you knew what he meant, he never failed to make flirtatious comments, so you brushed it off, even though the butterflies made their way to your stomach.
"and who might this young man be? I should probably go find him, I wouldn't want to keep him waiting" you smiled coyly
"I can't remember his name, but I can describe him for you, maybe tell you were he is" he smirked, leaning down
"do tell" you leaned in too, eager to continue and get to the point
"well I heard he has red hair, he's pretty tall too, I heard he's 6'3. he's pretty handsome too, I think you'll like him, he comes from a pretty big family, and I'm pretty sure I see him in the shop everyday" he informed you cheekily
"wow, I never knew George felt that way about me, I should probably go find him" you snickered, looking at his annoyed face. you were only teasing.
"George? that doesn't seem to ring a bell, I'm pretty sure his name started with an F" he rubbed his chin, looking deep in fake thought
"wow" you gasped "you're not implying what I think you are, are you Fred?" you gasp in faux shock
"Fred! that's his name, he sounds dreamy, doesn't he?" he clicked his fingers
"you should see him in person" you chuckled, his smirk dropped and instead, a small smile made it's way onto his lips
"maybe you should go and ask him out, I heard his favourite place is the three broomsticks" he replied joyfully
you hummed, thinking for a second "nah, I'll let him ask me since he's so in love with me"
"I don't know, he might be nervous" he tilted his head
"then you should go tell him he has nothing to be nervous about" you leaned in and whispered to him, as if it was a secret. he smiled and looked at the ground, his tongue running along his upper teeth, tapping the wood of the floor with his boot
"will do" he answered, a sweet grin on his face
"you stay right here, I think I just saw him" he pat your shoulder, stepping away from you before coming back a few seconds later
"hello there" he said happily
"hello Fred, fancy seeing you here!" you beamed
"I know, I thought I'd pop in and see how successful the shop is" he looked around, motioning to all the chaos, making you shake your head in amusement
"it's incredible isn't it? I must say I'm very proud of the two" your comment made him blush slightly, and you could tell it caught him a bit off guard
"so, I don't know if you know this but some handsome young bloke came up to me just then and said you would go on a date with me" he responded
"only if you asked" you blinked
"well then, how would you like to go the three broomsticks with me this weekend, Saturday maybe?" he asked you
"your favourite right?" you raised your eyebrows
he gasped "how'd you know?" he placed a hand over his heart
"lucky guess" you giggled
"so what do you say? will you go out on a date with me? a successful businessman, who is -said to be- very attractive" he question sheepishly
"Saturday?" you asked "I don't know I might be busy-"
"-Sunday?" he cut you off
"I was kidding, Saturday sounds perfect" you grinned up at him
"great, perfect. Meet me here at 11- in the morning, or night, is night better?" he rambled quietly
"11 at night? bit late don't you think?" you questioned
"right yeah, morning is more reasonable" he nodded
"well th-" he started but got cut off by George
"-Fred, I need help!"
Fred looked back at his twin and back at you, sparing a kiss to your cheek
"see you then, Love" he winked before rushing to George

Hey, sweetie! Could you do something for “Being Harry Potter's twin sister?”. You know... Their whole trajectory, their discovery of Sirius and Remus (who might be her godfather). She has an unusual friendship with Neville and the Weasleys (especially the twins and Fred, who she has a crush on and is fully reciprocated with). Thanks for the attention 🌷🩶.
Being Harry Potter's Twin sister Headcanons:
Paring: Fem!Reader x Brother!Harry Potter, Fem!Reader x Fred Weasley.
Summary: your life as the chosen one's sister.
A/n: so I might split this up with each year. Sorry this took so long and it's not edited.
🧡Master List 🧡Potter MasterList
So I feel like you and Harry would be totally different, and it might sound stereotypical, but you look like your mom with your dad's eyes.
Also you do have a scar, I looks like Harry's but it's on your wrist.
Most muggles and wizards forget your twins beacuse you look nothing alike.
With Harry I think he trusts adults a little too quick, with the treatment the Dursly's caused I think you'd have major trust issues. You only really trust Harry.
Harry is almost extremely over protective of you and sometimes thinks he's the older brother because he happens to be taller and five minutes older. “you know I'm five minutes older than you, right?”
“why does that bloody matter?”
Harry would do anything to keep you safe from Dudley and the other Dursley, I think Petunia would be harsher on you because you remind her so much of Lily and Dudley just think it's a game to terrioz you.
“keep your hands off her!” Harry shouted and pushed your cousin off you aching body.
People Don't know how relieved you were to get your Hogwarts letter.
Year one:
Like I said before you don't trust people as easy as Harry does, so when Hagrid came to rescue you two you were very reluctant and let Harry do most of the talking.
I'd say the Dursly's treatment causes you to be jumpy and very much aware of your surroundings, meaning you were hiding behind Harry when Hagrid came by.
But you learned to trust him during the trip to Digon Ally, he got Harry an owl and you a Ferrett named Seeley.
You also discovered your wand was related to The 'murder' Sirius Black's wand.
The first person you'd actually meet first is Fred and George, Hagrid had taken you to a candy shop in Digon ally and you both were after the last box of all flavor beans.
“you go ahead” he smiled when he saw you flinch back. “no, you” you respond.
Fred shook his head with a smile and handed you the colorful box. “no, you shouldn't take things from a pretty lady” that made you blush and take the box nervously.
And saved by the bell wizard, Harry called your name. “I got it go... Bye”
He didn't even get your name. Fred watched you run away with hearts in his eyes. George looked at him confused when he saw no candy in his hands.
“Georgie, I think I'm in love” he smiled like an idiot.
George, not knowing how to respond smiled.
When you got to Hogwarts you met Neville Longbottom and Draco Malfoy.
You had found Neville's Toad Trevor and was the one to return him. I think Neville would be star struck with you, your kindness to him and how pretty you were, he definitely had a crush on you immediately.
With Draco he just had infatuation, with Fred and Neville it was actual attraction(Neville more at the time) but with the Blonde Slytherin he saw you as someone he could get back at his parents with. The daughter of Lilly and James, Lucicus hated them and his eyes it would be a perfect opportunity to rebell a little.
You saw right threw him, you may not trust people immediately, but you do like to get to know them before you pass judgment. Draco lost your judgment as soon as he disrespected Ron and the rest of the Weasleys.
“listen you little Ferrett, leave Ron and his family alone”
I don't think the twins would take you being teased lightly, Fred didn't really care what Draco thought about him but him saying something about you or George is usually the last straw.
Anyway, the sorting hat didn't know what house to put you in. He was stuck between Ravenclaw and Gryffindor. “your a lot smarter than people give you credit for...your also brave, maybe even braver than your brother”
The hat did consider your feelings, he didn't just put you in Gryffindor because you were afraid to be separated from Harry, he did because he wanted to prove how brave and strong you were.
Gryffindor was ecstatic to have both Potters, especially Fred and George. They both cheered with the rest of their house mates and gave you the empty spot next to them.
With that I think you'd have your own trio, you are very close to Hermione and Ron both, but your defently best friends with the twins.
Your also close with Neville, people might think your a body guard and would even teas him for it, but you actually love Neville company and think he's tougher than he relizes.
Some people might not realize you got on the Quidditch team beofer Harry, you became a Chaser.
During your first game the twins wouldn't leave your side, Fred was afraid you'd get hurt. I think the whole team was considering you were a first year.
Harry's broom was the only one that was supposed to get jinxed but you got in the way. You got swang around like crazy while the twins and Oliver tried to help you. It drove Harry crazy he couldn't help you, but he had his own jinxed broom to deal with too.
Ron and Hermione of course thought it was Snape, but it wasn't. He was concentrated on helping you... Even more than Harry.
You remind him of Lily... like a lot, so I think it would make him less biter towrds you. Yeah it'll hurt him to see you at first, but I think he wouldn't be harsh on you like he is Harry.
During the holiday we know Harry saw your parents in the mirror of erase, but as much as you loved your parents I don't think that's what you saw. You can't change the past, so you just wanted some kind of family. So when you looked in the mirror you saw the Weasleys.
You and the twins had been extremely close, especially Fred. During the holidays Molly sent you a sweater with your initial and Fred got you a paracord bracelet with a heart charm. He and george had matching ones(minus the heart) so at the time it was friendship bracelets.
When you went to see the mirror by your self Professor McGonagall cought you, she really liked you and thought you were a bright student. You don't get to show it much because Hermione always beats you too it.
Speaking of professors and Hogwarts staff, I think Hagrid would help you discover your love for animals and magical creatures. Which ment you were pissed when Draco ragged about Hagrid's baby dragon.
Your love for magical creatures also helps you and the golden trio get passed Fluffy the three headed dog.
You and Hagrid bonded over talking about animals and you guys grew closer because of that.
It still bewilders Ron how you saw innocents in the dog and though he was cute.
You didn't want to go back to the Dursly's, but with the events that transpired this year you were afraid to stay at Hogwarts too, but you couldn't help but love the place, as dangerous as it was it was also safe and full of wonderful people.
Year two:
So for starters I think Doby would annoy the hell out of Harry's sister and I think she would be pissed off he was at the Dursly's warring them instead of Ginny or Hermione or even Colin.
So when you got back from Hogwarts you and Harry did have to share Dudley's second bedroom, it was cramped and always hot, but it was better than living under the staircase.
So, remember when the Dursly's tried to stop Harry from going to the Burow with the Weasley's? Well Harry did get in their little blue Angler, but when he did Vernon grabed you causing Fred to jump through the window and get you.
Molly would be so happy to see you again and even kinda embarrassed Fred. “y/n darling, I'm so glad your hear... Fred hear wouldn't shut up about you all summer”
“mom!” Fred look embarrassed while George was trying to cover his laughter for his brother's sake.
The burow is big but it's also cramped at times, so you and the twins share a room, your best friends and your comfortable with each other. Your just kids right now and there's no dirty thoughts to it just three best friends having a sleep over.
Thoses night Fred found out about your nightmares, George is a heavy but one night you woke up Fred when you were tossing and whimper beacuse of them. You only remember your parents death in your dreams and currently your adventures from last year.
Fred comferted you through out the night. He didn't make you talk about it, just held you. George teased you guys when he woke up the next morning and saw you guy cuddling. You guys let it slide since he didn't know the situation.
But, During your stay I think you'd grow closer to George, your both the quieter of the twins and are usually the followers. You would tell him you hated all the attention being Harry's sister brings.
Fred would get jealous, really jealous but he loves you both too much to bring it up. George knows how much Fred cares about you and your relationship with George is strictly Platonic.
George knows Fred like the back of his hand and he told him that. “you know we're just friends, right? I'd never hurt you like that”
Speaking of friends, since it's ginny's first year you and the twins are all pretty protective, which ment you were about to kick Draco's teath out when he was hassling her at the book shop in Digon ally.
“touch her and it'll be the last thing you ever do”
You also despise Lockheart, You and the twins spend most of the year messing with him. Especially when it comes to quizes about himself.
“my favorite smell isn't the ass of a hairless dog!” Lockheart yelled after reading our answers.
You broke your arm during the Quidditch match where Draco and Harry we're going add it. The people and the teams were too busy watching your brother to realize you got knocked off your broom.
Fred cought you before you could hit the ground and he took you to madam Pomfrey with George and Hagrid's help.
That day you realized since you weren't the chosin one like Harry you weren't that inresting. But that didn't matter to your closest people. To Fred you were the greatest thing to ever enter hogwarts.
He stayed with you the entire time and helped you with assignments till you got better.
You weren't part of this year's adventure. You were too worried about taking care of Ginny and Hermione.
Years 3:
So after the whole blowing up aunt marge incident you went to the Burow(in this universe you go straight there).
You told the twins about aunt Marge and they couldn't stop laughing. You now call it "the incident" and it kinda became inside joke, Ginny getts annoyed with not knowing what it means.
“you keep saying 'the incident'! What doses that mean?”
You did find about Sirius black and that he was Harry's godfather. You would think he'd be yours too but really it was never confirmed since Lilly wanted Remus to be the godfather.
Remus told you about the once playful argument that James and Lily had about that. I think you'd grow really close to Remus.
He's the first adult you trusted immediately. You tell him everything and he becomes the first ever real father figure you've ever had.
Aurther is kinda of a father figure but you don't want to see him that way since your in love with his son.
Anyway, you find out about Remus being a werewolf just beacuse you were wondering around on a full moon, you weren't scared like a normal person should be which suprised him. You promised to never say anything.
It got annoying when Hermione kept asking werewolf questions when she started to have her suspicions.
You were relieved when you found out Sirius didn't actually kill your parents. You found out Sirius was really fun to be around. While Remus was a shoulder to cry on or sortof a body guard, Sirius was c comedic relief and learned how to make you and Harry laugh.
Year 4:
Your fourth year is when Fred and you really started to act on your feelings. When you went to the Quidditch world cup, Fred kissed you after your favorite team won.
Since death eaters showed up it was short lived and you guys didn't really speak of it till later.
You didn't try to get your name in the goblet of fire like your two best friends, nor was your name put in there.
It was bizarre... You wanted to do it just to prove you were just as brave and important as Harry. Fred helped you relize how important and loved you were during the last two summers, but since your name didn't get put in there like Harry's you felt pushed to the side lines again.
Fred was a little bit upset at your mindset. He didn't want you thinking you were useless but he also didn't want you in danger.
“why would you want to! It's dangerous, I don't know what I'd do If you got hurt!”
Then it turned into an argument. “I want to do It because I'm tired of being in his shadow I want to prove I'm just as strong! And why dose it matter if I was in the tournament or not?”
“beacuse I love you! The Wizarding world might not have chosen you but I do... And I know we're just kids but I do know that I love you”
Your heart melt and if felt like all your walls came crashing down. You knew you were important to him, but it finally clicked that you were is first choice from the beginning. No Harry, no chosin crap, he just wanted you.
You had your first real kiss in mouths. A rough but passionate kiss. He poured so mush love and emotion in it, he wanted to prove he wanted you and only you.
Then you became a couple, a few side problems kinda showed up. Hermione and Krum, then you and Neville... He wanted to asks you out so bad but then he finally had the confidence to ask you out he found you and Fred kissing.
You knew when something was bothering Neville, he became stand-offish and wouldn't really talk to you. When he confronted you all his emotions came out. He told you everything and even end his rant that he rather have you as a friend than not having you at all.
“but then I realized our friendship means more to me than anything, I'm happy for you and Fred but I don't want to lose my best friend”
“You won't...”
The Yule Ball was so much fun, you of course went with Fred and everything was perfect.
Having Cedric die was hard, you wernt close to him but having him die made you appreciate you brother again. You two became distant since you felt put on the side lines, but when you thought about Harry dying you couldn't help but cry.
“you and me against the universe” Harry said after you talked about it to him. “I'll always protect you and I'm sorry if you felt like I pushed you away”
Harry really did feel bad, but he felt even worse when he found out about you and Fred. He's been so busy he didn't even know you have a boyfriend for like three months.
He was happy for you both, he trust you'd be treated right and didn't feel like he had to put up an over protective brother facade.
Year 5:
So Remus is defently over protective and put the fear of murlin in Fred, but he knew Fred was a good guy.
You and Fred also worked hard to get Tonks and Remus together. You knew how much he loved her but he wouldn't act upon it.
Also with Voldemort back you were eager to join the order of the Phoenix, even if you weren’t old enough. And you better believe Fred would be right behind you.
“I'm in” you said.
“NO!” Remus and Sirius both said at the same time.
Okay so it's your fith year and Fred's last year, it's kinda of upsetting but it just encourages you guys to make the most of the year.
You love helping the boys sell their products and even help come up with some new ideas.
Rather the product are safe or not your usually the one to sell the product to fellow classmates, especially the females. George says to can sell a drowning man water.
The year was great... Till the pink monster showed up and started changing everything.
She got under Fred's skin like crazy and Umbridge knew it, he didn't really care what she did to him, took away one of his prank toys he doesn't care he'll just make a new one but what he didn't lightly is when you had to endore one of her detentions.
You didn't want the boys knowing or worry Fred and Harry. He accidentally found out when he grabed your soar hand the wrong way.
“I'm gonna end her!”
You had to grabe him and convince him if he did anything he'd get kicked out of school... Which he didn't care.
You knew about them dropping out and you even help plan their excape.
After they left Fred wrote to you almost every day, filling you in about the shop and telling you about the success.
You couldn't be more proud of them and even planed on working there that summer but the end of there made you forget about it.
Sirius had died protecting you, Bellatrix was about to use the same spell on you that she used on Mr. And mrs. Longbottom. Neville tried to protect you but Sirius bet him to it the only cost was his life.
During the summer you mostly stayed with the twins and worked at the shop, things got better and Fred worked hard to cheer you up.
He loves spending most of his time with you and doesn't really care if people see.
“your not supposed to get handsy with the staff” you joked.
“I won't tell if you want”
Year 6:
Not Much happened... That concerned you at least. You spent most of your year hanging out with Neville and Luna.
Harry and the other two were to busy worrying about Draco and you just didn't have the energy to care.
You quite the Quidditch team after an acadent last year so you usually helped Luna or who ever narrat the game.
You did worry about Draco though, he looked so alone and no one really cared, all Harry cared about was proving he was doing something wrong.
He grew so much respect for you when you found him crying, you didn't judge him like he expected... Just let him cry.
You filled Fred and George in about the closet stuff and how the school is going down hill.
After the school year you went home with the twins after Dumbledore's funeral, as awful as it might sound you weren't too affected by his death. You felt like Dumbledore never really cared about you or your brother.
Year 7:
So you spent most of the Summer paining and decorating for Billy's wedding, it was a good distraction.
During the battle of the seven Harry's George protected you because the death eaters would expect you to be with Fred, George got his ear blown off because he was protecting you.
After the wedding got ambushed you ended up going with the golden trio, Fred tried to go after you but Charlie stoped him I'm fear for his brother.
You spent most of the time listing to the radio with Ron, making sure George or Fred's name isn't mentioned.
During the battle of Hogwarts the twins didn't leave your side.
“you okay freddie? Y/n?” George asked.
“I'm scared” you admitted. Fred pulled you to his side and held you while George held your free hand. “I won't let anything hurt you”
When things got really heated during the battle you got separated from the two, you and George ended up meeting up in what used to be the charms room.
You started to panic when you didn't see Fred. “Wait, where's fred”
George couldn't stop you and ran in search for him, before you could even register what was happening Fred shielded you from a killing curse.
Even if your brother won the battle you lost the love of your life, you didn't really want to see anyone except George and even that hurt... Looking at his face and seeing the same eyes and freckles.
George promised if anything happens to Fred he'd make sure you'd be alright.
Super mega happy ending:
So if you chose this ending Fred didn't die, you guys got betten up but that's all.
A year later you guys got married and you worked as the care of magical creatures professor at the school, during the summer you worked with your husband and brother-in-law.
You had twins, a boy and a girl. Fred cried when he found out you'd he having twins.
George and Angelina were of course the god parents.
You are very protective of your kids, always making sure they're okay and on the anniversary of your parents death your twins sleep with you.
Your daughter is just like Fred, a total minnis in the best way possible, your son is the quieter one... Much like you and George.
Your twins joined the Quidditch team and got sorted into Gryffindor like every other Potter and Weasley.
You couldn't be more happy or proud of your family.
