#FPtober Jade Incense . Two of the Ink Institute inks I have are Jade themed. So I inked up my @FranklinChristoph p66 prototype with an Audrey SIG with Jade Vine and the pink @TWSBI Eco 1.1 with Jade Dragon 🐉🌿 . I really like both these inks. #FPtober Coffee • Lion ☕️🦁 . Thinking of the word lion reminded me of pictures in the National Geographic, Henry Rousseau’s art and Caetano Veloso’s Leaozinho... 🎶🖼 . Very instinctively, on a short break, I inked up my @kasamaph with Edelstein Smokey Quartz ans drew the draft of the line in pencil while the coffee brewed in my bialetti. As soon as the espresso was ready, I dipped my paintbrush in it and simply covered the page in coffee, adding ink and diluting it at key places for the mane, shaping the face, and coloring the body. ✒️☕️🖌 . While the page dried, I took the second picture and worked for a while more so that I could focus on the details in the evening. To give depth, I used my @franklinchristoph P66 prototype with a FC Music nib and inked with Tono and Lims Bee, smudging it across the ears and mane. Then, I picked up ink from the nib of my Kasame to add more brown ink on the mane with my fingers, before using the pen to define the nose and eyes. ✒️🐝💛🤎 . I wish you could smell this page since the coffee and honey scented ink makes it really lovely. I wish you could here the lovely crinkle of the Tomoe River paper. I like the way it looks, but what I like about this lion is the whole experience of making it and how it stimulates all my senses. 🍯☕️🦁 . I hope your day was as lovely as mine. One ink with different behaviors? In yesterday’s post on @tonoandlims’ Flight of the Bumblebee, an insoluble dye is clearly visible when the bottle is shaken and it makes the ink opaque in the bottle.💛🐝 . Today’s pictures of samples on @wellappointeddesk Col-o-ring Oversize notebook paper show that though there is a visible difference when the ink is wet and heavily saturated, there size of nib has more of an impact than the dye.🤔 . Top sample is written with the very wet @FranklinChristoph Music nib in a P66 inked from a bottle not at all shaken using an eye dropper and only taking ink from the top of the bottle. The ink is lovely golden ocre and well saturated. Yet as we swipe to the second picture, the drop becomes yellow when dried.💛✒️ . The sample below is written with the @opus88writing Koloro Demonstrator Colors with a 1.5 nib and eyedroppered with a shaken ink bottle. Clearly the ink looks more yellow but is fully legible. So the nib is a bigger factor than the dye in terms of saturation. Regardless, the drops of fresh ink are dark, as is the result when these drops are dried. 🖋💛 . Since i used a tissue to clean up a little mess I made, I added a drop of water for some quick chromatography on the last picture. Clearly, this is a simply Amber yellow beauty. 💛 . I like it in both pens. This is an excellent yellow ink for writing titles, highlighting key points and art. 🤓😍 . It is also a scented ink... more about the scent soon. It’s a complicated topic. 👃☺️ . Nearly a year since I got this beauty at the 2019 @SFPenShow. I recall the excitement of prepping for that show months in advance.💕 . I had contacted @franklinchristoph to reserve a BB SIG Nib by the one and only @thenibdoctor. Then on the 1st unveiling of the FC prototypes, I saw this diamond cast beauty and it’s rainbow bright sister and needing help from the pragmatic @allthehobbies to make the right choice (thank you!). 💘 . Since then, this pen has always been ink with a light colored blue or double shading ink such as Vinta Julio, Armada or now Iroshizuku Shimbashi-Iro Tokyo exclusive thanks to @tokyostationpens and @danimad . It has been slightly tinted but that’s ok, it makes me love it even more. 💙💖💙 . This pen is now a reminder of that insane and magic weekend in which I got to spend time with so many amazing people I love in this community. They know who they are! It’s also a reminder of the good times in future shows I look forward to when this crazy year is past us.
