yeah this just confirms my theory that mbappe gets a hard on when he's playing against messi specifically
#knocked argentina out in 2018 (sampaoli tax)#hatty against barka (washed pique and lenglet tax)#then again argentina (otamendi bozo genes tax)#only to turn into lukaku in every other instance#i think humiliating messi might be his love language dkm#spain vs france#euro 2024

Here’s hoping Morocco win tomorrow, so that they can win the whole thing, and that Croatia can get semi-avenged by winning the bronze over France, at least.
#though I was hoping for Croatia-Morocco in the finale#fifa world cup 2022#I distinctly remember being upset about some referee decisions in 2018 that#I felt were unfair to Croatia/favored France in an...unfair way#I don't really remember what. a free kick or even penalty that lead to France's first goal?#I realise France would probably have won either way?#but I am still bitter#as I am over 2010#I think Spain had a goal that wasn't overturned despite it being offside#while their opponent got a goal overturned due to offside#in the semis?#and was really upset about it#you know just because I don't really care about football#except for like 15 aggregated minutes every year#doesn't mean I can't hold grudges#over some injustices that were probably mild and that I can only vaguely remember!#also I watched like 1 minute of Argentina-Netherlands and the crowd#was booing every time the Netherlands like...had the ball#I know that's not the team's fault but I just find that behavior so insufferable#anyway this is why I can only watch/care about football in very small segments

I’ve avoided most things World Cup this year out of sheer spite for FIFA’s corruptness by selecting Qatar as the host country (and then all of the terrible things Qatar has done to secure it and build the infrastructure).
But I am a weak woman who can’t help but watch the final because this might be the last chance Messi has to win a WC and I need to be there for it.
EDIT: just as I was typing in my tag essay, Messi scored! GO MESSI!
UPDATE: DI MARIA SCORES! Argentina up by 2! Beautiful goal!
HALFTIME UPDATE: I’ve fed the turtles their breakfast and have scrounged some leftover dumplings for mine. Mum is now up and cozily ensconced in her chair to watch the second half with me. Hopefully it will be just as exciting as the first half!
OMG UPDATE: Mbappé penalty goal and then a couple minutes later a legit goal! What?!?!?!? Tied 2-2! So stressful! C’mon Argentina, get yourself under control!
ANNNNNNNND now we go into Extra Time. What a game. We all need a moment to catch our breath and then try again.
France goalkeeper smashed in the face, rebound to Messi, then MESSI SCORES!!!! Argentina ahead in Extra Time! I screamed so loud I feel like I need to apologize to my neighbors on this peaceful Sunday morning.
AIIIIIEEEEEEE another Mbappé penalty kick! TIED UP! WHAT IS GOING ON! I mean congrats on a record-breaking hat trick but WHAT IS GOING ON THIS GAME IS SO INTENSE I CAN’T HANDLE IT.
Going to penalty shoot outs. It’s too much. I can’t handle this. I still hate FIFA but man what a game this has been.
THEY DID IT! ARGENTINA WINS THE WORLD CUP! MESSI WINS THE WORLD CUP! WHAT A GAME! WHAT A BEAUTIFUL GAME!
Me to Mum: “I’m so happy that I want to cry.”
Mum, with tears running down her face: “I’m already crying.”
#I remember rooting for France in 2018 bc mbappe was such a fascinatingly brilliant player#but today I am all Argentina#go Messi!#also the last WC game I watched was a qualifier#it was Peru vs Australia#I watched it with a bunch of locals while in the Amazon jungle#I had to leave on a scheduled sightseeing adventure just as it ended in a tie so I missed the extra time and shoot out#Peru lost :(

Your post is so right. All this because Argentina scored 4 penalties out of 15 goals as if France didn't score 4 penalties out of 14 goals in 2018. But there's no way a country with underdeveloped football like Argentina and horrible chemistry and sub-par players and clearly no desire to win and very little support would ever win against such grand European giants fair and square 😁.
I HATE interacting with people like that online in general so I don't usually, but it honestly pisses me off so much even though I know people like that will never change their minds.
I ABSOLUTELY get you sis, but anytime I see a dumb take, I just look at my lock screen of Messi lifting the World Cup and I’m like🤩🥰🥰🥰🤪
Like truly no one can ever say anything about Argentina or Messi ever again, like I’ll be dancing and celebrating about this FOREVER!
But the fact of the matter is, Argentina improved every match since losing to Saudi. They struggled against Mexico but won due to moments of brilliance. They were even ended with Australia but still pulled through, they FOUGHT hard against Netherlands but their composure is what made them win, and they were playing COZY against Croatia.
Like even without the penalties (which were all fairly given - like don’t make stupid mistakes in the box if you don’t want a penalty?) Argentina played smarter and better throughout the tournament. True champions.
#and France in 2018 won the World Cup in the most boring way possible#SORRY BUT IT MUST BE SAID#people really just love to act ignorant with football#and they keep bringing up all of Messi’s penalties but he was LITERALLY involved in every other goal that Argentina scored#his assists are almost as much as his goals#and every other goal that an Argentine scored started with a pass from him or assisted by him#so the haters are gonna have to try harder 🥰#anon

Thibaut Courtois won the Golden Glove in 2018. 27 saves made, 6 goals conceded. Belgium came in 3rd. Dominik Livakovic made 25 saves and conceded 7 goals. 4 penalties saved (3 in Japan shoot-out, 1 in Brazil shoot-out). Croatia came in 3rd. Emiliano Martinez made 7 saves and conceded 8 goals. 3 penalties saved (2 in Netherlands shoot-out, 1 in France shoot-out). Argentina won the World Cup. So considering that Livakovic and Thibaut Courtois (the previous winner of the Golden Glove) have pretty much identical stats and Martinez is nowhere close, why isn’t Livakovic winning the golden glove again? It’s the award for best goalkeeper of the tournament, and so it should go to the best goalkeeper of the tournament. Martinez’s reward for securing Argentina’s (Messi’s) win in the final is the fucking World Cup, he doesn’t deserve the golden glove as well based on his whole tournament performance. If these awards are only going to go to players that win the world cup, you might as well throw them away entirely. Call me crazy, but the World Cup trophy goes to the best team in the tournament, the individual awards should recognize the individual player achievements across all the participating teams not just the winning team.
#dominik livakovic#world cup 2022#that's the last i'll say about it#but I just think that martinez only won it because he secured Messi a win#and that thumb pressed down hard on the scale

hey i saw some weird things going around on twitter in response to TK paying for Mark Davis' medical bills (cool!), and i'm asking people to remember we don't woobify billionaires yes? in a quick google search i learned all this about Flex-N-Gate, the company the Khan family made their billions of dollars off:
Detroit Flex-N-Gate workers denounce sweatshop conditions (june 2020): worker exploitation at the height of the pandemic, failure to provide a safe working environment for non-essential automotive manufacturing workers, firing people for visiting a funeral, firing people for testing positive to COVID-19 and making people pay for benefits.
workers at Flex-N-Gate organice for justice (april 2012): workers at the Illionois manufacturing plant report no temperature regulation and fainting on the job in summer months, exposure to carcinogenic chemicals, cutting costs on mandatory safety equipment, and union busting amongst the largely immigrant workforce. (the company, worth $2.5 billion at the time, is ultimately fined a measly $57k)
Flex-N-Gate disaster, just the latest chapter in a toxic story (september 2012): more on the above and more in depth stories on the immigrant workers, and the discrimination they received following their participation in the april campaign in the form of being mysteriously evicted and intimidation from management.
hourly workers being paid as low as $10 an hour in unsafe working conditions back in 2018
and these are all stories about their US plants: nothing i could personally find on their manufacturing plants in China, Argentina, Spain, France, Germany, Mexico or Canada.
this is not a criticism on AEW as a company, but rather a reminder that the company is owned by one of the 500 richest men in the United States and there is no way to be a billionaire without worker exploitation.
#tony khan#aew#cw discourse#<- there im doing it i got a tag now sorry. feel free to blacklist#hiding this on tumblr instead of tweeting it cause im a coward but feel free to steal the links or the summaries or whatever#also join a union <3#veraposting

I like that some sensed people are still able to recognize that whether Erling Haaland or Leo Messi take the award home, it's valid. Changes from all the others ~ wave hand in a general direction ~ people. Not even to mention how past and current football figures agree on it too. Soothes my mind.
Honestly I'm just tired of talking about it, since 1) it's silly 2) it's settled 3) it's simple. Let's make it plain.
"Why not just put the goals?"
There are awards for the best goalscorer. This isn't one of them.
Brief comparison
Haaland had a maddening records breaking season, won the treble, but didn't show up for the semi and finals of those. Messi did an average club season (equal to, if I remember correctly, the "excellent" season of Antoine Griezmann so, there's that.) and an all-time World Cup campaign. It's a WC year; it has since after 2010 (year of change of criterias + voting participants) weighted on the BO's results.
The reason it's a close call this year is cause of the treble (huge weight) balanced by the ghosting of Haaland during those crucial points vs WC all time balanced by the average club season of Messi. Haaland being a 9 means that when he's not there, he doesn't do anything for the team. Stems from his position. Whereas if Messi doesn't score, he still has his passing and playmaking which, picture me surprised, actually make him having more impact as a player for his team.
Look at the pic. Make the needed mental gymnastics. To get to the conclusion that one of them is robbing the other is mental. Both are deserving.
WC's weight
It's ultimately this and the WC's weight (and I sure ain't about to get into an argument comparing the treble, insane achievement that can be achieved every year, to the WC, insane achievement that can be achieved once every four, and being the MOTT of said tournament) that makes it tip towards Messi, even though I expect the votes to be close. The WC has been held over Messi's head for more than a decade. Everyone knew that if he put a consistent season and a good WC campaign, he'd been a strong contender. He had a consistent season and had an all-time, MOTT WC campaign. Point's made.
Criteria : Vital role
Another point: the "vital role in the team and honours" criteria. Haaland makes this City team dominate, not a shadow of doubt. But Kevin de Bruyne is the one that's vital to it. Take away KDB and Haaland isn't there (once again: stems from his position. He's a 9.)
Due to his national team not being in the WC (which once again : he's indeed from Norway, a NT which hasn't much WC history. But, in 2018, Messi single handedly drew Argentina to the WC. Haaland wasn't capable of this.), he couldn't prove himself to be crucial there either. So, Haaland is important but not vital to this City team, whereas Messi was important in PSG (a-fucking-gain, 40 G/A, this isn't an argument) and vital for his NT. There you go, one criteria more.
Sweet sweet "robberies"
When you got R9, Wenger, Henry, some France NT (Griezmann and others, can't recall), Hazard, Silva and co - current/former players who played and know the weight of the WC - saying Messi deserves it; the club coach of Haaland saying they'd both deserve it ; and you arrive to the conclusion that Messi is robbing Haaland (or, for that matter, that Haaland would be robbing Messi), then the true reason of your positionning can't be clearer.
And finally,
Those are what you call robberies. Can't be one when both deserve it. Haaland will be just fine and will have plenty of WC-free seasons to destroy every records available and show up at crucial points. Chill. I'm done talking about this, people are to stuck to their own opinions to be changed atp.
This is a fun night, I'm so ready to make fun of everyone's fit and awkward talk. It ain't that deep. Hope everyone, whether for Haaland, Messi or bloody Musiala has fun!

Moving goalposts again
Sensing the tally of goals would be hard to overcome, and the number of international goals might be too much, and knowing that discounting penalties (their favourite excuse) wouldn’t work, Messi PR moves the goalposts with a new approach where they count the knockout goals of WC/Euros/Copa.
Euro: Sure failing to score against Germany (2008) in round 16, Terminator!Spain (2012), Belgium (2021) round 16 again and France (2024) is wildly inferior to scoring non decisive goals against Venezuela and the USA in 2015, Ecuador in 2021 and Canada in 2024. Oh I have to bow to the superior player!
WC: 2006, lose without scoring to France in semi and Germany in the third place match, Germany who also beat an Argentina in quarterfinal where the Golden child (GC) didn’t score. We made an Carragher and Rooney cried till their death though, so I count this a win. 2010, Portugal got Terminator Spain in RO16, Villa scored while he was offside but it’s okay because offside rules and VAR are for impertinent Portugueses not good Spanish boys. Once again GC didn’t score either so the fanboys have to add an assist on an offside goal, but again offside rule are for peasant. Argentina got slapped 4-0 by Germany but hey, clutch player! 2014: Ronaldo is injured. 2018: Messi assisted twice in a losing game against France. 2022: lol that bullshit ?
See the things with ESPN statistics or basic statistics ? Only terminally online morons trust ESPN and everyone should learn to read the notes before spewing numbers they don’t understand. I know everyone on X has the IQ of a room temperature or needs the hate agenda to justify the futility of their lives, but come on. and I didn’t count assists for Ronaldo : G/A is a made up stat hyped by the GC PR.
Messi scored against Canada? No one cares. Leave Ronaldo name out of your filthy mouths.
PS: and I didn’t count penalty shout outs, since apparently penalties are bad depending upon who take them.

K/DA Lore pt.3
It took me a while to decide on how teen Evelynn would look like. So I held off my last post until I could finalise her design. Yes I heavily based her off Maddison Beers look at the 2018 worlds. Its a shame I wasn't able to showcase her fashion I had in mind. Perhaps I'll try drawing a full body reference in the future.
Time for Kai'sa! KDA's most shallow member! (I love Kai'sa guys I swear. It's riot that ruined her potential.)
As a child Kaisa would travel a lot because of her father's work (military) She would grow up as a model student fluent in many languages and educated in geography and history. Kai'sa is socially underdeveloped due to her "really moves around" upbringing. She also is the "Broken Ace" type (nomadic life), always striving for perfection in her grades and career but in turn suffers socially. This makes Kai'sa very awkward and oblivious to social cues when interacting with people outside of a professional manner. Because of this, she was typically outcasted throughout the many schools she attended. Others feared her like she was some sort of monster. A creature too mysterious and focused on achieving to be understood. School became a hunt to survive mentality to kaisa and nothing else mattered in her world. Yet the longing to belong was still there in her heart. After discovering dance in her teens Kai'sa would start to evolve. She never had hobbies or any indulgences in her life. All she knew was how to survive an ever-changing environment as she constantly moved with her father's tours and deployments around the world. With dance, she finally opened herself up to the idea of living over surviving. From ballet in Russia to hip hop in the Americas Kaisa would find the universal language to feel herself and to connect to those around her no matter where in the world she was. Kaisa grew to have a passion for the arts, she discovered she was diversly gifted in creativity. Her hardworking attitude and serious studying nature helped her achieve many degrees. As an adult, she would make her own studio the Firefly Collective (located in America) where she would share her passion and teach others the wonderful world of dance and would go on to create a popular youtube channel for her studio (think 1MILLION Dance Studio). She was happy being a teacher and was astonished to have been visited by Ahri and Evelynn. Kaisa wasn't too aware of K-pop artists so she didn't recognize them as celebrities but her students did. They freaked out when popstars Ahri and Evelynn entered their dance studio. Seeking out someone to be their choreographer. Kaisa's students urged her to take this opportunity and so Kaisa became the third member of kda.
*Yes Kai'sas lore was mostly ripped off the comics. But I was able to add more context
*in 2018, one year before KDA debuted she won Hong Kong's "Can you dance?" competition. This success was what put her on Ahri and Evelynn's radar. (Kai'sa was 21 at the time)
*Kai'sa had a complete personality overhaul when she discovered dance. She went from the recluse, studyholic to the hippie, free spirited type.
*In her life Kai'sa has lived in 10 countries: China, South Africa, South Korea, France, America, Australia, United Kingdom, Russia, India and Argentina.
*She was born in south africa (as a omage to her default voice actor)
Art by me
Here's a link to my playlist of the music I think suits this pre KDA Kai'sa

No joke the entire world is today writing about this being the best final in the world cup finals history. And previous to this encounter there were a lot of people saying this would be the most boring and worst final because it wasn’t a croatia vs morocco final. Like my friend, have you ever seen the match between Argentina vs France in 2018 world cup? Everytime Argentina vs France it’s a crazy match, now the score between us is 3 victories for France and 7 victories for Argentina. But South America is somehow inferior than european football.

I was tagged by the cutest @zbee thank you hbiba! ❤️❤️
Name: Hala
Sign: Cancer (me too hbiba)
Time: 11:27 pm
fave band / artist: uh. Faudel & Cheb Khaled + Sufjan Stevens. I know like. two opposite sides of the world etc.
last movie: The Rainmaker
last show: The Bear. I don't really watch a lot of shows, i'm more of a movie kind of person so if that happens it's bc I'm obsessed
when i created this blog: uh I actually had it for a long while, maybe 2015 or 2016? never used it tho, I used to lurk and like footie stuff (especially from ajax days so since 2018). I started being active this year tho, when I realised morocco was loved by people and I had a few people to relate to finally. I'm not very present on social media so that was a big deal for me.
Other blogs: nooo. I'm actually very wary of social media and I tend to be very strict about it and make as less accounts as possible.
Followers: 152 apparently. Idk how that happened, I had like 0 eight months ago.
Average hours of sleep: 6-7, but often less than that.
Instruments: a bit of piano actually but since I didn't have one at home I was never really able to practice. My music teacher at school said I was good and signed me up to a summer music programme, I did that for a few years in a row.
What am I wearing: my beautiful embarrassing morocco pyjamas. it's a red with a giant green start shirt I use as a dress if you wanna know
Dream job: work in the ngo sector, cultural mediator. maybe a teacher too, idk. keep working in the ngos for now.
Dream trip: I have a few :( I actually would love to see more of europe as well, Ireland more than anything, but also more of France/Belgium/the Netherlands. And i'd love to see south america: maybe argentina, peru, chile, even up to cuba. But my 1 priority is Africa. Africa, I want to know more of it first . I want to travel everything. Mauritania, Egypt, more of Algeria (went to Algiers once, not enough). Tunisia (never been there). And then all the way down. Senegal, Gambia, Nigeria, Mali. Eritrea, Somalia and Ethiopia on the other side. Down till South Africa. etc etc. Literally everything.
Fav song atm: Dalida - Gigi L'amoroso stuck in my head bc of the ~french~. In italian, in french, both version of it really. Get it out of my head yarbi. and then Kelna Mnenjar by Wael Kfoury IT'S SO PRETTY!!! if you listen to arabic music i think you know what I'm talking about, it was pretty famous a couple of years ago. I had forgotten about it and then I remembered it so I have to listen to it at least 3 times a day now again.

Canadian Swifties who hoped for local shows left wanting as Taylor Swift skips Canada
TORONTO - Taylor Swift is giving Canadian fans the cold shoulder.
While many Swifties expected the “Anti-Hero” singer-songwriter might add local tour stops to her growing schedule, they were disappointed on Tuesday when a wave of nearly 40 new dates left out Canada.
Swift announced her Eras Tour — which began in March with dates across the United States — is heading overseas in 2024 with four nights at Japan’s Tokyo Dome, and two in London’s Wembley Stadium.
Some of the other countries added to the calendar include France, Italy, Spain, Ireland, Austria, Germany, Poland, Portugal, and Singapore.
Swift’s tour will wind through Mexico, Argentina and Brazil later this year.
A representative for Universal Music Canada, which distributes her music domestically, did not respond to requests for comment.
Swift last played Canada when her Reputation Stadium Tour rolled through Toronto in 2018. One of the nights included a surprise appearance by Bryan Adams who sang his hit “Summer of ‘69” with her.
ts1989fanatic: lots of US fans on Twitter saying we should have gone to a US show, like we could afford to travel not all of us have the money or ability to travel. Then they would have bitched about us taking tickets away from us fans.

Argentina's players acted EXACTLY like every other winning team would have.
Do you all really actually believe that if the french had won they wouldn't have had chants about argentina? Of course they would! That's what happens when a team wins, and as far as I have seen none of the argentinian players have said anything racist about M'Bappé or the french player.
Racism in futbol and from futbol fans isn't an inherently South American problem, in fact most of the racist abuse I have personally seen comes from European fans. And the reason why so many people are having a field day with M'Bappé are his comments on South America and futbol. He is the least qualified individual to be making comments and criticisms about that. He's never come to South America, he's never played in South America. And THEN he goes and looses and World Cup final against a team from the continent he considers to be beneath him? 😂😂😂😂😂 Of course everyone is having a field day with that.
Like. What were you all expecting? I said I was gonna be an insuferable bitch about M'Bappé's comments because as a South American it pissed me off.
You truly said it perfectly.
France literally sang songs about beating Messi back in 2018. And EVERY team acts like this when they win. Remember Spain doing a CONGA LINE RIGHT BEHIND the German players when they were doing a press conference after the semi final in 2010????
Like THIS IS SPORTS!? And yeah, racism is universal in football, like it’s bad regardless of where it comes from but people are acting like South Americans created it like🤔
And Mbappé’s words came to haunt him, like he probably knows now he was dead wrong for saying out of pocket comments like that and going forward, he won’t insult an entire continent like that ever again🤧🥰
