I realised today what a big role the movie “Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge” played in my life however cringe it might be.

It dictated how I wanted to have friends, my taste in guys, what my college life should look like, what type of girl I wanted to become, my love for symmetry, etc etc

This film played a pivotal role in my life no kidding. I am proud to say I knew Saba before the Hrithik situation and I loved her before Hrithik loved her.

It wasn’t until Kakashi realized that he’d been squinting sohard he’d given himself a headache that he thought to lift his head and checkthe time, startled to discover that the sun had gone down behind him and theroom was dim without any lights on. That would explain why he’d been having somuch trouble seeing his work. Falling back in his chair, he dragged both handsdown his face with a heavy sigh. He knew he should go home and get some rest.There was just always so much to do, enough to make his thoughts wander to thebottle of congratulatory sake Tsunade-sama had left in the hidden drawer forhim. Sometimes he really understood why she’d drank so much on the job.

So caught up in his thoughts was he that when the dooropened he genuinely startled, body jerking hard enough he very nearly upset theinkwell a little too close to the edge of his desk. He very carefully pushed itoff to a safer spot before looking up. Tenzou looked back with crossed arms andone eyebrow raised.

“Another late night?” his friend asked. Kakashi busiedhimself with tidying the desk as though he’d been on the verge of leaving.

“You’re not on duty tonight,” he noted, bringing the rosterup by memory. “What are you doing here?”

“Some of us were headed home from getting drinks and I couldfeel you up here, thought maybe you might have fallen asleep on the desk again.”Tenzou looked around and frowned at the darkness, flicking the light on andsmirking a little when his Hokage swore at the sudden brightness.

Now shielding his eyes, Kakashi cleared his throat. “Maa, Imight have fallen asleep. I was just about to pop home myself.”

“Right. Of course you were.” Clearly his friend didn’tbelieve him.

He was right not to since it was a bold faced lie but it wasstill annoying to be so obvious when there had once been a time when Kakashi hadwrapped himself in such impenetrable armor that others would believe anythinghe said – or accept it, at least, since no one had ever really been sure whenhe was telling the truth. In a way that had been nice. Getting away withanything had been an absolute breeze with no one willing to pull their ownteeth just to get a straight answer from him. It had been lonely though.

“Why do you keep doing this, senpai?” Tenzou asked.

“Doing what?”

“This. Working yourself ragged. You spent so many yearsthumbing your nose at different Hokage for destroying their life in this joband now here you are doing the same. There’s this really neat concept called ‘delegating’and you are allowed to do that.” Hisexpression softened. “You have friends that will always be willing to help you.”

“I know,” Kakashi murmured.

Sometimes it was hard to believe it but he did know that hehad friends. Of the many revelations in his personal journey over the last fewyears that one was perhaps the least surprising and yet the hardest to swallow.

“You know, excellent, so why don’t you let us help?” hisfriend asked.

“Because…this is my one shot at redemption.” This time itwas Tenzou who startled but Kakashi went on without pause, knowing that if hestopped now the words would never come out. “There’s so many things in my lifethat I wish I could go back and change, so many things that I did wrong. And asmuch as I know that no one blames me for them now that doesn’t take away theguilt that I carry around every day. I haveto do this well. I have to be theHokage that Obito and Rin and Sensei and everyone would want me to be. When Ipass on the hat to Naruto I swear this will be a village to be proud of again.”

If Naruto was to be their shining new future then Kakashi wasdetermined that he would do his part to ensure it was such a brilliant futurethe history books would spend entire chapters comparing the difference ingenerations – and that his precious hard working student was the one to takeall the credit. So many of his plans would only come to fruition long afterNaruto had taken the helm and that was just the way he liked it. Credit for thejob had never been something Kakashi needed. As long as the job got done he wassatisfied.

“Senpai,” Tenzou’s quiet tone made him look away.

“Don’t. I know what you’re going to say and–”

“We’re already proud of you.”

Kakashi couldn’t quite stifle the gasp that slipped out.Those hadn’t been the words he was expecting at all. And yet they were exactlywhat he hadn’t even realized that he needed to hear. To his utter embarrassmenthe could feel tears welling up in his eyes as something deep in his chest unraveledfor perhaps the first time since he accepted this position.

“I think I’m ready to go home now,” he murmured.

Without saying anything Tenzou nodded. He understood. That, Kakashisupposed, was just the benefit of a loving friendship.

music recommendations? albums preferably. i trust your taste

omg im feeling so shy,,,, listen my music taste is REALLY basic its always all the bollywood tracks about trains going on repeat or something,,, nevertheless

HUGE fan of radical face's The Family Tree albums. all of them are wonderful and eerie and haunting and i love the vibes, you know???? also some of them feature some truly terrifying stories, like midnight is many things, lighthearted is not one of them

this is a seriously underrated bollywood movie but i LOVE the tracks from Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge? just effervescent. so fun and funny. Har Saans Mein is a star.

try some of the albums by Euphoria. i don't remember which one Maaeri is from, but its my favourite, as is Aana Meri Gully Mein. love them.

every single track from Gangs of Vasseypur is gold. and i don't even like some of the genres they delve into. just pure vibes. also watch the movie if you can handle gang violence they're really good cinema.

another set of albums i love more than life itself are BOY's discography. both Mutual Friends and We Were Here are just,,,,, listen im such a hoe for cities and urban living i can't help it. i love everything about them. its the drums and folk music combined with urbanity that really does it for me. i actually like them so much i wrote a published paper on how they use silences to write cities. no i am not telling you anymore more about it.

OBSESSIVELY listened to Wildfire by Bipul Chhetri and that's from the Sketches of Darjeeling album. pssst it has a song about trains. please listen to this guy hes just,,,

the rest of my tastes are really basic i promise. i listened to Folklore by Taylor Swift quite obsessively (i know i have mutuals who love her and mutuals who can't stand her. i promise i don't care about her more than me having basic taste in music and wanting to listen to love songs twenty four seven), and then i loved The Dog Days are Over by Florence Welch. also loved both of Hozier's albums. i have one playlist with all my bollywood/india/south asia songs, and most of them feature trains because thats the kind of person i am. i have one about cities which has all of BOY's discography. also i really liked The Horror and the Wild actually like that was some good shit joey batey

something i've been really enjoying listening to lately is the Ekk Deewana Tha track, Hosanna. like you put Hosanna on and sit on the delhi metro and you can believe the whole city is falling in love with you. thats the vibes thats what i like
