And what are the odds I’d find a story where a woman (and her son) was kidnapped in my town and then driven 400 miles away to a Walmart.

**For context, this was one of the many replies I got on a comment telling people they are allowed to ask a security guard or police office at a store to walk them to their car if they feel like they’re being followed. Apparently a lot of women (yeah all women who responded) were angry that I’d even imply you could be taken from a store parking lot.** 

Hell I’ve asked a police officer to drive me home from work once when I was 17 (I usually walked to work and home) because as I was walking out of my job (at the mall) one night, a man started to follow me and I could feel him picking up his pace. I walked straight to the cop car in front of the back entrance of the mall and the man following me immediately turned around and started to speed walk the other way. I explained to the officer what happened and he said “no problem sweetie” and drove me home. He told me I did the right thing going directly to his car and if I had walked home I could have been grabbed. STAY SMART.

Critically endangered white-cheeked gibbon baby born at Kansas City Zoo

The Kansas City Zoo has announced the birth of a rare white-cheeked gibbon.

The baby was born on Saturday, Feb. 15 in the Tropics exhibit at the zoo.

The baby, who is not yet named, was born to dad Smithers, 24, and mom Kit, 15, who were recommended to mate as part of a species survival plan.

Gibbons are critically endangered due to habitat loss, illegal logging and hunting for illegal pet trade. Their wild population has decreased 80 percent in the last few decades.

Native to China, Laos and Vietnam, gibbons have long arms and swing from tree to tree.

You can see Smithers, Kit and the baby now at the Tropics exhibit at the Kansas City Zoo.
