I am also quite apprehensive about trying to sew something as complex as fall front breeches at my current skill level. In some ways I think a waistcoat would be a better next step, since they seem simpler from a structural standpoint.
However, I’ve read that doing the breeches before the waistcoat is better for producing a functional ensemble— getting a good length for the waistcoat is easier when you already know where the waistband of the breeches will fall. Having struggled to pair vests and pants with varying lengths and rises in my own wardrobe, I’m inclined to follow that advice.
Mostly, I think I need to get over my fear of making bad clothes. Yes, it will be frustrating if I sink materials costs and hours of work into a garment that turns out to be ill-fitting or even unwearable. No, making something bad isn’t a condemnation of my skills forever. Making bad clothes is a necessary step towards making good clothes. Even if I can’t reuse the materials from a failed garment, they aren’t wasted because I learned through the experience.
While I try to get some photos of another figure, I thought I'd share some pics of this felted vixen I've had for quite a few months now (which I actually made while watching Disney's The Fox and the Hound)! Even though I'm sure my style has changed since I made it, and I see where I can improve now, I still think it came out quite nicely!
Also, I'm thinking of trying to start taking commissions for needle felting, at least before the summer ends. While I definitely want to do some for slugcats (and most likely iterators too), would anyone be interested in other animals or characters?
I'm not sure if people around here like videos (I haven't seen many) but I wanted to share with you this short stop-motion video I've made for the first anniversary of the Red, White & Royal Blue movie ❤️🤍💙
"What color fox plush do you want for Christmas?" I ask my brother.
"This one." He shows me a photo of a cross fox dubbed "Mat" taken (and enhanced) by the photographer Sam Gaby (Keen.Feed on Insta).
"That one! It's beautiful but real foxes aren't that saturated. Do you still want the vibrant oranges?"
"Yes."
He hasn't seen the finished fox, and won't until Christmas. I think he'll like it.
Made with faux fur fabrics (not real fur) and touched up with acrylic paint. He's life-size (on the large side) with measurements taken from fox population studies. I have process pics and a video of his process on my blog.
@megneato did two more AMAZING commissions for me (the first was Ma Dong-Seok as Paz Vizsla, he’s beautiful, go look at him), which was to help get my headcanon down for what Fox looks like, and a design for my Corrie Medic OC, Patches! (I belatedly realized that is a common medic OC name. I am. Not sorry. ...or original.)
CC 1010: FOX
tired
like, so fucking tired
Constantly Vibrating Ball of Rage
hair gone white from stress and torture via Evil Sith Shenanigans
lightning scars around his neck, continue below armor on the right side of his torso
no tattoos so that he could pass as some of the other clones (this works up until the scarring and the trauma hair)
CT 9113: PATCHES
MASSIVE baby bro/vod’ika vibes, is from one of the more recent batches
very gentle and sweet and smiley
name comes from his patchwork scars, which were the result of being yeeted through a pane of glass (exact scenario as of yet undecided)
does actually have a kind bedside manner, but do not be fooled: he will also use the big sad eyes RUTHLESSLY
‘i’m not mad, just disappointed’ except instead of disappointed dad it’s your little brother who looks up to you and thinks the world of you and now you let him DOWN
that said, if he’s visibly angry, you should probably run.
A recent collaborative project with Tacos (if they had a Tumblr I would tag them I swear) that we created as a gift for our friend @tired-twink (see!)
I'm super happy with how it looks completely finished. I did the cross stitch using This pattern on 18ct Aida cloth with 2 strand DMC floss.
Once I had it stitched up I did a border around it to attach it to the main fabric of the bag. I think the frayed edge of the aida really suits this project. I do still want to find more ways to incorporate my work into more bags and such without worrying about the stitching being warped when I remove the waste fabric.
I just wanted to share the pj pants and matching scrunchies I sewed yesterday and the fleece blankets I tied last week! I’m literally so cozy right now
I was looking for something in particular in bed linen storage and instead found my old pillowcase! I stuck it in a drawer after it developed a hole and have barely looked at it since.
I’d like to reuse some of the fabric for sentimental reasons but Oh Boy! I’m not sure if there’s much I’d want to do with that print!
“I love his Royal Highness, Prince Henry George Edward James Hanover-Stuart Fox. I hope one day we’ll have the opportunity to be public about our relationship on our own terms”
I wanted to celebrate this day with one of my favourite queer books. Happy and combative Pride Day 🏳️🌈🏳⚧
(I know I've already crocheted Alex and Henry, but it felt right to honor the book as well as the movie with this mini amigurumis inspired by the book cover illustration)
Another amigurumi from 2020. Foxes are my favorite animal, and that’s probably why I ended up making this one. You can tell I made this when I was less experienced with amigurumi since the stitch tension is a bit too loose and you can see the stuffing inside. I still like him quite a bit :)
