An Underwood Collection Theory: Who does Callum Stewart serve?

It is me, the keeper of the Dossier! Here is an actual theory, who what Fear Entity does Callum Stewart, the patron of the Usher Foundation serve? I’m assuming he serves an Entity, being the Usher Foundnation’s Peter Lukas equivalent. And so that I actually have something to work with, I’m going to assume that his dislike of Peter Lukas comes from their Entities being in opposition, and not a personal matter. Which means we need to find an Entity that opposes the Lonely but doesn’t oppose (or even allies with) the Beholding.

Entities that oppose the Ceaseless Watcher:

The Dark: Is all about obscuring information.

The Stranger: Per Not-Sasha’s complaint, can’t handle the ordeal of being known.

The Spiral: The same chaotic identity of the Stranger’s avatars is also why the Spiral doesn’t normally work with the Beholding.

The Desolation: It’s hard to tell if Jude Parry’s whole speech about how the Desolation will destroy the Eye is just standard Entities not liking eachother, but I think an Avatar of the Eye, or at least an Archive, naturally fears the Desolation. A follow of the Eye is all about the hoarding of information, while the Desolation destroys things people hold dear. Those statements are oh so flammable.

 The Corruption: I think the Corruption goes here the same as the Desolation, that it is a material threat to an Archive. As entities, they may not be incompatible, but rot and infestations are enemies of a regular ass archive.

Entities that compliment the Lonely (who haven’t already been ruled out): 

The Vast: Simon Fairchild already explained how the more space you have to be alone in, the more lonely you feel.

The Buried: But likewise, if you are trapped in a small space, there is no room for anyone else to be there. Also you know, the isolating effects of capitalism.

The End: The reason a lot of people fear death is because it means they’ll be separated from their loved ones. Also there’s a lot of association between death and being alone.

So who do we have left, the Web, the Flesh, the Slaughter, and the Hunt:

The Web: I don’t think any Adrienne would accept a sponsor who she’d have to second guess every single action of, so that’s out.

The Hunt: We’ve never seen any Hunt Avatars who aren’t either Hunters or Vampyrs to bait them with. The Hunt’s natural prey is other avatars, until eventually they start to hunt innocents as well. I don’t think there can be a Hunt avatar that wants to prop up an Archive.

That leaves The Flesh or The Slaughter, and honestly I can’t really lean towards one or the other. On one hand, the rage associated with Slaughter avatars would probably prevent them from being a patron, but that might not be a requirement. Remember the Slaughter is both frenzied killing and the discipline of an army. Callum could be a military contractor, this is America. The Beholding and The Slaughter would make for natural allies. If you’re worried about the enemy having intelligence on you, that heightens the fear of you getting killed.

But The Flesh could also work. It even gives meat-processing plants as a natural source for Callum’s money. Perhaps being some kind of body horror monstrosity isn’t that big of a requirement to be a Flesh Avatar. Or many Callum hides his mutations by being “basically a hermit”. One of the elements of the Flesh Gerry mentions is that its also the fear of many people are also just bags of meat, instict, and nureons. That’s because of scientific knowledge, making it a natural ally to the Beholding.

As you can see, I don’t lean towards one or the other. Personally, I’d prefer Callum to be an Avatar of the Slaughter. But I feel like him being a Flesh avatar is still a strong possibility. Or maybe I misjudged an Entity or his beef with Lukas is a personal one.

My top 10 favourite power movers

Even though I am not great at doing power moves…

I LOVE watching power moves.

I love watching people attempt the near-impossible. I love watching people piece together technically difficult moves in a way that boggles my mind. I love watching people invent and reinvent powermoves in a way where most people would have given up.

That’s why I enjoy watching power movers dance.

They are reinventing the entire dance for themselves.

They are pushing the boundaries of what is possible… and what is not.

So..

Great battle. I had the Gamblerz taking this one. Everything they did was on point.
