Spent some of my afternoon/evening printing off @copperbadge 's Found Fortune oracle deck (yes my printer sucks). This is just standard cardstock, which is far from an optimal choice from a shufflability standpoint but it's what I had on hand. Considering going out tomorrow to get one of those corner punch thingies to round the edges. And maybe some sort of thin sticky-back paper for the backs to stiffen them up a bit (but then I'd have to trim them all AGAIN, so... idk)
I do not have particularly strong feelings towards tarot/oracle decks as a future-telling device, but I thought it could be a handy tool for storytelling and perhaps songwriting. My hugely unofficial january personal challenge is to write some sort of music-y thing every day (either new or a good effort working on something incomplete), so I decided to shuffle and pull a little spread for inspiration tonight, using whatever imagery pops up as a starting point for a song, as in where it's coming from / what's the problem / where's it going.
Tumblr media
Here we have The Champion (All material things. Value; the counting of winnings), Delay (Thwarting. Indecision, weakness of character), and Light (Joy. Good fortune, delight).
I certainly could have gone more literal (a champion delayed in the quest for light) but it ended up a bit more abstractly themed around taking the physical distractions and the internal overwhelm, considering what sort of people those things turn us into, and then coming together to find/ensure there is still light in the world. Musically speaking it still needs tweaking and as usual I'll fiddle with the initial lyrics (possibly add another verse), but the chorus bit I particularly like is don't let the light escape from the sunset unseen.
Anyway, thanks for putting the deck up as a printable, Sam!

I’ve been using the Found Fortune deck a lot, and I was wondering if there was a way to tell time with the cards? Like if something will happen on a Monday, or in March, or the summertime, or 3 years from now? Thanks!
(More on the Found Fortune deck here.)
I'm so glad you're working with the deck! I hope it's been a useful tool for you :) I didn't "bake in" a way of telling time, but I think it should be possible, depending on how you'd like to do it.
You could simply assign a timeframe (say, a day of the week, or an hour of the day, or a month) to a couple of cards, shuffle those, and do a layout and see what they indicate. You could read the cards for a "season" -- ie, lay out three cards and see what kind of season they seem to indicate, or if they indicate close-to or far-off. You could simply do a reading where you say "I know this thing is going to happen, help me find out when" and see what vibe the cards put out. Or you could assign one card the value of "thing I want to know when it's going to happen", then shuffle and lay out the cards until you hit that one, and see what the cards before it say about time and distance and other events. In any of these cases, I would consider pulling out and working with the "time" suite of the deck -- cards that have a clock face next to the title, opposite the card number.
Because the Found Fortune deck has a natural "stop" card, you could also shuffle the deck and begin laying out cards, and stop when you come to the black "mischief" card. The number of cards you had to lay out before you hit it may indicate length of time.
My idea has always been that the cards are a tool for your own -- intuition, subconscious, psychic ability, however you'd like to categorize it. They are very fluid for that reason, and you should feel free to use them in ways that you feel comfortable with, including ways that I hadn't thought of.

I think it's incredibly important to remind folks on testosterone or folks who want to reverse patterned baldness about their options, but man, does it sometimes suck wondering how much of our insecurities about our hair stem from backwards beliefs that to strive towards beauty is not only preferable but "makes you good."
As someone with a rather masculinized body pre-medical transition, patterned baldness has always seemed neutral. Hair is incredibly important (hell, much of my own energy is spent on my hair because I like it), but the pressure to have hair, to have hair the "right way" is something that I absolutely loathe.
I'm not here to judge people who don't want patterned hair loss or baldness, I'm here to say that those traits will never make you lesser. Not only is it neutral, but it is also just as worthy and beautiful.

still thinking about how Taash is the only companion written by Trick Weekes and apparently her Deluxe Edition weapon is labeled Grief and in the promo picture with the whole gang she was the only one looking at the camera and how out of all the companions she is the one we know the most little about. no chapter in Tevinter Nights. no cameo in the comics. just enigmatic silence.

Refuge
Danny was not retired, technically he came when people needed him, he helped or protected them as the case may be. It just turned out that over the years they stopped needing him.
And that was fine, it meant humanity could take care of itself, it meant they were safe. That was what had to matter, no matter that deep down, the halfa was hurt by the information.
It was harder to accept change when you weren't part of it. Danny was immortal, eternal, and powerful, things that no longer fit the world. Not with all the heroes and wizards running around, not with Amity Park fading away, becoming nothing more than a part of his memories.
He fit in perfectly in the Realms, sure, but he knew that if he stayed there too long he'd stop feeling human, and that was dangerous.
So, no, Danny wasn't retired. But he lived in a simple house in Metropolis, though sometimes he got tired of Superman being able to hear literally everything and moved to his house in Fawcett. He used to switch between the two houses frequently, not that it was difficult since he had figured out how to make portals.
He had a few friends, like the orphan boy who lived at the train station and Conner, a teenager who sometimes just needed a house to stay in when he couldn't stand his father.
Neither Conner nor Billy minded his age, which was comforting, although they both got curious when he visited the other house. Danny didn't know how to explain that Eternity Rock and Superman made him nervous if he stayed too long (he didn't like feeling watched), so he just shrugged and told them he had two houses.
Neither of the kids understood but they accepted it. They both had a habit of calling him "Uncle", Danny thought it was odd, given that his appearance wasn't exactly...adult, but it seemed they were comfortable with that, and he left them alone.
Apparently his house (occupied or not) had become a haven for them. Danny always greeted them with a sandwich, or cookies, even though he felt like a grandmother doing so. He smiled for the first time in years, feeling happy to fit into someone's life.
That's why it was quite disconcerting to find the Justice League outside his door asking him to join them. Danny chuckled internally, because the current heroes actually believed they could force him into something, but he accompanied them anyway.
Superboy and Captain Marvel scowled at the League as soon as they entered the Watchtower, when they were told they were bringing in a "dangerous individual" they didn't expect to see their unofficial uncle.

'Demons are naturally combative' says Wen Xiao in episode sixteen, right to the face of a demon that is very clearly not, and as if the whole series up to that point hasn't been a treatise as to why they're not.
Except for the big bad and I guess Cheng Huang every demon we've seen in the series is either not at all combative (Fei, Ying Lei, rabbit demon in first episode, and yes Zhu Yan), or was manipulated into it, in a way that while it certainly does not absolve them and make them innocent, any human can and would also be.
Like you're supposed to be the goddess residing over the safety of both demons and humans, and you're still fantasy racist this far in? Girl...

wait, so zhu yan has basically been giving the ability to fight and/or survive a fight with him for all the people he cares about cause he’s afraid he’d accidentally kill them? is that it? is that why he gave li lun his truth eye and gave xiao zhuo the ability to resist his one word spell?

If you’re still taking questions on your Hunt and Hunted AU, can I ask about Tango? Like is he a human, and what’s his role?
hi!! and of course! I'm always happy to answer :D (please ignore all the asks I haven't answered yet please I swear I'm working on them)
Tango is actually part of the so called monsters - he is an Ovinnik!
Tumblr media
Ovinniks are spirits from slavic folklore that inhabited barns and although usually protected the grain from fire, they could also be the one setting it aflame if provoked. They were depicted either as a small old man that could turn into a barking cat or just as the cat. Basically.
Tango in the AU has two forms - a more human and a cat one, between which he can shapeshift at will and that's how he was able to fly under the hunter's radar so far.
He doesn't really have a permanent home but at the moment he is staying around Bdubs and Keralis (although later on he is found by Jimmy and they have a barn together <3)

Herd of fire.
Azula and Zuko constantly fought over who would be the Alpha of the pack.
Mai and Ty Lee accepted Azula as their Alpha, because Zuko was rarely around.
Zuko reluctantly agreed to let Azula be the Alpha when she defended them in an uncontrolled animal.
Mai and Ty Lee were always scented by Azula, and Zuko never had the courage to ask for it too.
Zuko accepted that he would never have Mai when he saw a mark on her neck.
No one in the pack knew that Azula was studying how to be a good Alpha, much less that it was Lu ten who was teaching her.
When everyone left for the first time, Azula immediately shut down.
When everyone was back together they noticed how Azula surreptitiously perfumed them with her pheromones.
They noticed how Azula was ready to be abandoned again, they didn't know what to think.
Ironically, they weren't the ones who broke the pack bond, and it was the first time they felt the same way Azula did.
