muse ag, calvin lucas and JULIEN WALCROFT have been friends since they were in their twenties and have been committing crimes just as long. muse ag is the brains, cal lucas is the muscle and JULIEN WALCOFT? well, they’re just motivated by greed and adrenaline. muse ag is from a family who was known for thieving and swindling, so their behavior was more of a legacy, a family business they continued. cal lucas has always been aggressive and had a need to express their anger. they also like money, so they’re always down for theft, a robbery, or a scheme - a good excuse to blow off some steam. JULIEN WALCROFT never had to do any of this. they came from an affluent family and were talented enough to make it in the business world but they never seemed to be able to keep themselves from getting into trouble and bring shame on the family. so, they were cut off financially. this meant that JULIEN had to beg, steal and borrow to be able to afford even half of what they were used to… so, when they met the other two, they entered into a bit of a… gang. they’ve all spent quite a few years in jail over the course of their lifetime, but they’ve not thought of quitting just yet.

BIOGRAPHY

julien thomas walcroft was born in birmingham, uk, a well-to-do name for a well-to-do family. he grew up in a proud home where expectations of adults were insisted upon any children within the walcroft name. it was never a bother to live up to the name and the sole boy of his immediate family seemed to fit naturally into the fold of things. in return, julien’s parents were kind and amicable, insisted on their son’s happiness in equal to their own, even retrieving him from boarding school often to enjoy time away when the opportunity was available. perhaps that was the mistake but julien never thought so.

the walcrofts went on holiday abroad, throughout europe and the states with florida being a natural destination spot. when he was twelve, the family visited elmerton on a whim and found a charm to the town that consistently brought them back; ever since julien was in and out of elmerton with extended stays during the summer break. 

julien had a knack for finding a good time. if he couldn’t find a party to thrive in he hosted his own, often with the surprised and suspicious glances when the attendees realized their host was under age. but money could buy him what he pleased and his family was well endowed with it.

unfortunately such extravagant displays garnered attention wherever he went, including unwanted attention from authorities or family friends who heard of unruly outcomes of his actions. of course these were not limited to parties or the ilk. even as a boy, julien was easily bored and often looked for excitement around him. as always, if he couldn’t find it, he created it... even if that meant pushing buttons he knew not to push.

for many years his family tolerated his behaviour with gritted teeth. how could they not when these instances, although frequent, weren’t the whole of the story? it wasn’t that julien was a horrible son or a disappointment to the goals they set before him. he was advanced in his studies, met every expectation and standard they had set for him in terms of success, and overcame any setback or obstacle with such ambition it seemed nothing could get in his way... except for himself.

julien was already dipping his toes in the business world while still studying at university and the prospects lining up for him were as promising as the disaster his parents created. he had just earned his bachelor’s and came back to the states for holiday and celebration. as per usual, his celebrations got a little out of hand and word quickly traveled back to his family. their patience was worn, and by monday morning his assets and funds were cut off. it was intended as a lesson, and they truly believed they weren’t leaving him stranded to world. it was julien’s poor management of wealth that he leaned on that put the last nail in the coffin.

troubles became hardships, borrowing became debt, and julien couldn’t shake the comforts familiar to him. if the world wasn’t going to give him what he deserved, he was ambitious enough to take it for himself, and wasn’t shy about crossing the lines to the illegal or immoral. 

thankfully, he didn’t have to do it by himself for too long. it was like meeting the siblings he never had but had known for years. and the trio’s personalities clicked together like a well oil machine, with a penchant for thievery. the machine had a few hiccups over the years that brought them to jail on occasion (ambitions too strong for his own good). but with a knowledge of business and technicalities, and supported by a prominent lawyer who was cal’s aunt, jail couldn’t keep julien contained.

even with minor stints of a few years, the business world tends to be unforgiving to those who don’t already have their fingers buried into the dirt. rather than playing the cat and mouse games of trust and record, julien applied on his own for a cpa license. it has been suspended in the past but given the nature of charges the suspension period ended and he’s maintained his profession as a practicing accountant. those who become his clients must truly see the good in him... or maybe it was the sincere smile.

PERSONALITY

overall julien was raised with manners and maintains the prim and proper appearance one would expect of his pedigree. he is polite, to the point but not blunt, and is sincere in every word he carefully speaks. he engages in others as much as he indulges in himself, but he doesn’t believe there’s any harm in indulgence. he knows when to apply the appropriate amount of seriousness or when to lay back a little, although no one has yet to claim he’s pragmatic.

he approaches everything with a best foot forward attitude, but with the expectation all good things should come his way. this tends to bring out his narcissistic and conceited side, especially when he feels the world is in need to pay its dues. he can be a bit callous to others and their plights, especially if the morality of the situation stands in the way of what he wants. the means justify the ends for him, especially if it benefits him and his two closest friends.

he want to have fun and enjoy every aspect of day-to-day life: sometimes that means going out and partying until he’s plastered, and sometimes it’s pressing others’ personal buttons until he instigates a fight. he’s not angry, nor does he want to see the world burn. he gets bored, and sometimes chaos is the only solution.

at his sum julien is ambitious, and it’s ambitions that often bite more than he can chew. with such an eager whim, one might assume julien is impulsive and often sabotages himself. although the latter is true, julien is careful to keep his boredom entertainment limited when working and calculated to not fall back on him or his adoptive siblings. if anything, this level headed approach to risks and rewards is what makes him a successful accountant and thief. he. just. wants. more.

POSSIBLE CONNECTIONS

clients - julien is still a licensed accountant who looks out for the best interest of all parties involved. trust needs to be given in order to be earned, so why not invest in yourself by hiring a man who is looking out for your well being?

partied hard in youth - julien was about fifteen when he started throwing parties for elmerton locals to satisfy his need for entertainment. anyone and everyone dressed well enough was invited. did the underage host leave a good impression?

tw alcoholism - alcoholics anonymous has been having meetings at the church since the mid-60s and they are still going on, though now they try to accommodate all religions. corrine durant has been heading the meetings since the early 2000′s. they are a therapist, though they do have another occupation on the side. they are very protective over their group and they are the sponsor of muse ay (any gender). muse ay has been in the aa for three months now, after realizing they had a problem but have only been sober again for a week. after their pet died, they hit another rough patch but they’ve tried to start up their quest for sobriety once more. an older member who has just earned their two year chip is muse az (any gender). after a few bad break ups and financial ruin as a result of their alcoholism, they decided to try and turn things around which up until today has worked. they are the sponsor for ozzy ahmed who has been sober for six months now… well, sober - they’ve stopped drinking. they secretly do other substances as well, but aren’t quite at the point that they can admit that those too are contributing to their self-destruction.

BIOGRAPHY

she comes from a troubled home. her parents fought a lot, it wasn't very stable, she didn't receive a lot of attention from them because of it. she was very meek when she was younger, and because of it she fell into a bad crowd in high school. easily impressionable and just wanting acceptance. she started drinking with the people she hung around and formed a bad, bad habit with it. because of that she wound up being hospitalized on a few occasions, and eventually court mandated into AA by her junior year. she met a sponsor there who essentially became her de facto parent (a wc i'll be submitting at some point.)

she cleaned up. her sponsor ensured she had emotional stability, encouraged her to do better for herself. she loved them like the parent she never had, and wanted to do right by THEM too. she's been sober since they started sponsoring her because of it.

she loved to dance as a girl, but with unstable income she didn't really get to pursue it full time. instead she went to community college after high school to get general degrees, then pursued a degree in therapy to essentially repay that kindness she was given as a girl. she wants to help people, sincerely, and her inspiration is her sponsor.

she's the aa therapist in town, and genuinely wants to see these people recover and do better for themselves. she maintains a positive relationship with her sponsor, and she manages the dance studio (occasionally participating as well, since she never lost her drive)

in her mid twenties she met and married her husband (her sponsor gave her away). they had a fast, sweet, and extreme romance, but unfortunately he succumbed to an illness and she was widowed at 35. she misses her husband every day, and it was a challenge not to fall back in to old habits, but she sought her sponsor once more for emotional assistance and managed to overcome the urge

BIO / SUMMARY

Imani knew from a young age that she wanted to be child-free, but one can argue that reason was due to her being forced to watch her younger siblings. Both of her parents worked long hours, one is a doctor and the other is a lawyer. They both had the money to hire a babysitter, but according to them that would be a waste of money. Why hire someone when they can have their oldest daughter do it. They try to frame it as a great bonding experience for her. However, to Imani, she hated it. She loves her siblings and she loves spending time with them. But she didn’t want to be responsible for them. She wanted her own life, to do her own things. This cause a drift between her and her parents and resentment towards her siblings. 

Her relationship with everyone was rocky, but as she got older and moved out it approved. Her relationship with her siblings was better. With her parents, well it was okay. She realized her resentment should go to them, and not her siblings. She learned to move passed it but she does have her moments of being bitter that her parents never acknowledge their wrong doing or apologized. 

Imani went to school to be a nurse, it was not what her parents wanted. Maybe that's why she went into it at first, but she learned that she actually like what she was studying. Being a nurse was enough for her. She didn’t want to become a doctor and live under her mother’s shadow, nor did she want to become and lawyer and live under her father’s shadow. Though being a nurse won’t exactly allow her to escape any type of comments about her mother. Nor, how people will comment on her becoming a nurse instead of following in her mother’s shoes. But she was able to block that out. It’s easier blocking out comments about what career choice she should’ve made than comments about her abilities/skill being weaker than her mothers. 

The comments lessened once she got married to her best friend, the name changed allowed her to escape the same old comments from new, or other, co-workers who have not yet learned who her mother was. Soon, the comments completely stopped when applied and became a traveling nurse. Her husband decided to quite and pursue writing and she wanted to support his new career path. So she applied to a new positioned that allowed her to get more money and to travel around. It almost felt like her life was perfect. She got to go to new places for extended period of time and make more money. Her husband came along, which allowed him to find muse in the new place they end going to due to her job. They got to explore new areas and make new friends. And when she went to the next destination, they do it all over again. Explore their new surrounding, makes friends, and her husband find more muse. 

After her husband ended up published several novels and created a big following from his traveling blog, things started to slow down. It was not their plan, but they decided to slow things down when she learned she was pregnant. It threw them for a loop. Especially since her husband had a vasectomy. While he didn’t accuse her of cheating, and she was thankful for that, she knew the thought must have come up. But she was quick to say she will get a paternity test because she knew for a fact that this was his baby. After the test came back, they both took time to think about if this was something they wanted or if they wanted to go through with aborting the pregnancy. Yes, Imani always believed she was child-free. But the idea of having a baby with her husband was not as terrifying. She knew who he is and he would be if they were to have kids. She knew he would help her and that she wouldn’t be doing this all alone. So they decided that they were going to keep the baby. 

With that in mind, Imani knew that they will have to go back home - meaning her time as a traveling nurse was over. It was time for them to go home and get ready for this new chapter in their life. She never thought she would be excited for this, and honestly - she was worried. With the age she was, there was a possibility of of complications with the pregnancy. While she loved the experienced they built together, there was a part of that wish they realized they wanted this at a younger age. However, she wanted to stay optimistic. Everything in her life was going so well, of course this had to work out. But, unfortunately for her, it did not work out. On the drive home from work one night she got into a horrible accident - one that her husband wasn’t even sure she was going to make. Fortunately for her, she did. But she lost many things in the process. She got a burn scar on her back, her left leg was amputated, and lost her pregnancy.

Imani always felt like she was a strong person who could get through anything, but this. This was something she never imagined happening. Even over a year of all of this happening, she still struggles to grasp her new reality. Who she is now is completely different from who she was before. She felt like a part of her died that day. She’s a shell of a person that has so much anger built up inside. She has resentment toward the driver that has done this to her. The only thing that she is doing is slowly pushing her husband away. As much as she wants to let him in, she’s afraid that he can’t accept the person she was forced to become. She just has negative thoughts in her head. She’s convinced that he’s only staying to seem like a good husband - but in reality he really wants to leave. She knows its a horrible thought to have. She’s been having a lot of irrational thoughts, ones that make her feel guilty for having. But the main one is, if she can’t accept her own body now, how can he? She wants to get better, she wants to be like the people she sees online that are confident with themselves after having scars or injuries from an accident. But she just finds herself stuck in her own depression, relying on her anger as some form of comfort as she pushes her husband away.

Spring 1980 - Fall 1997. Scarlett Elena León is born in Elmerton, FL to a chef father and a general practitioner mother. She has a pretty normal childhood, there’s a family home near the beach, white picket fence and a golden retriever included. Young Scar is happy, a lively and bright troublemaker, running along the beach and looking for trouble and adventure wherever she goes.

the one that got away plot: In high school, she {muse a} falls in love for the first time, madly. Her beau is dreamy {muse b} and the girl jumps into the whirlwind romance with all her heart. The consequences of her recklessness become clear one morning after she pees on a stick. I’m pregnant, she tells her parents, and they are… Enraged, to say the least. They make a decision to leave their hometown to save Scarlett the embarrassment. Completely lost, the young girl had no choice but to oblige and leave without a trace, breaking her boyfriend’s heart as well as her own. The family moves to Connecticut, where her aunt lives.

Fall 1998. Scar’s son, a perfectly healthy boy, is born and is immediately given up for adoption and taken away from his mother’s arms.

Winter 1998 - Spring 2003. Scarlett is devastated, but her parents urge her to move on, she graduates from high school, takes a few college classes, but she can’t bring herself to move on. She needs a new beginning, she believes, and realizes she’ll never forget her parents for what they made her do. Her heart takes her back to Florida and she, without much thinking, does so, but seeing that she is completely on her own, she falls in with a bad crowd and gets involved with a member of a criminal organization.

Spring 2003 - Summer 2015. Scarlett works as a thief, look-out, sometimes a spy. Escort, lounge singer, bartender. Whatever they need to be. The thrill she comes from it fills the void in her chest, not to mention it’s a great source of income.

Summer 2015. Nothing completely satisfies Scarlett, and she finds herself wanting more, now that she’s tasted it. A friend of a criminal friend introduces her to Edgar Edelweiss III, a wealthy entrepreneur based in Miami. The older man is mesmerized with her beauty and not a month later, the whole of high society is shocked when they announce their engagement.

Fall 2021. After barely 6 years of marriage, Edgar dies of a heart attack. Some (his family members, to be exact) are suspicious and everyone’s eyes turn to Scarlett, could it be his younger wife who happened to inherit everything had something to do with it him?

Summer 2022. Meanwhile, Scarlett isn’t concerned with the fact there’s an investigation is going on. The woman finally has it all– money and power, she would be happy. She moves back to her hometown, with old wounds and unprocessed grief seeming so far away, she opens a grand hotel and casino Edelweiss.

BIOGRAPHY

born in north holland, the netherlands to an incredibly middle-class family, for the first 7 years of his life cal lived a relatively normal life. his father was doting but often away from home for work and his mother was less attentive than she should have been, though her true vice was gambling.

his mother had a tendency to squander their savings or paychecks into her vice, spending in big sums to racking up more debt —whatever small game caught her fancy that required cal’s father to dump his hard-earned money into paying off that debt before loan sharks came calling. for a while it worked, and cal was none-the-wiser to the hole that the lucas family was slowly digging themselves into.

at seven years of age he lost his parents. on the way home from his best friend’s house down the road at dusk, he came into his house to the most gruesome and jarring scene he could possibly comprehend: the dismembered bodies of his parents. the night was a blur, the month was a blur, the rest of that year was blocked hard in his memory. details escaping cal, resulting only in the memory of being tossed to his aunt in lieu of the system where he was raised thereafter.

at eleven he moved to the united states with his aunt, settling in elmerton, florida for her work – an awkward child who was socially and emotionally distant, it was difficult for cal to make connections or friends, and though he was an incredibly aggressive child there seemed to be no option to assist in quelling his rage. therapy didn’t work - an attempt to dig into his traumatic past only triggered cal into a rage that the even the therapist was not expecting. with puberty came the charm, and slowly over his teenage years cal learned to control his anger into hobbies ---primarily those that consisted in physical contact. it was time that formed his personality more completely into adulthood and had him blooming out of his awkward, quiet shell.

cal blossomed, his personality shifted to something charismatic and utterly charming with quick wit and sarcasm adorning his demeanor, though his smiles never met his eyes. as he grew older it was obvious just how impactful his parents’ death was, where his initial responses and reactions to the crimes he seemed to devolve himself into, and violence he was slowly being exposed to seemed not to bother him … or quite simply, no emotional response was registered.

twenty years ago he met the two members of his own little gang - elise gave purpose to his rage and though her brains were enough to carry them into wealth in the earliest formation of their group, it wasn’t enough to keep each of them out of jail at one point or another. cal, who had a short stint in juvenile hall already, was let off on a technicality. his aunt - a prominent lawyer, had ways of cheating the system she made so much money off of. she’d do anything to keep her nephew safe, even if he had anger issues. he spent, at most, three years in a correctional facility in his late twenties.

by day, now, cal dj’s. music (and photography) were always passions of his and throughout his troubled life he chased the former into a career. you can find him dj’ing for elmerton radio station ---music of choice being synthwave and like variants.

PERSONALITY

the personality and demeanor of cal lucas is carefully cultivated to deceive those around him, with the most common denominator being that of a charming albeit sarcastic man who always has a smile on his face. he can carry a conversation, crack jokes, find common ground with anyone, but in reality his interest is barely measurable. it’s a farce to project normalcy, to keep any interested minds or eyes out of prying where they don’t belong.

in reality he’s a very solitary and angry man, finding solace in his hobbies (which are spent alone) and enjoying time to himself. he’s comfortable in that silence, and seldom reaches out to forge more meaningful connections, outside of the would-be family he’s worked in for so many years.

cal has unaddressed ptsd surrounding the trauma of his childhood. he’s done a lot to lock up the details of the memory of what happened to his parents, and can become aggressive if pressed on the matter or issue.

but the personality most people will experience is that of the charming, charismatic dj whose more than happy to crack a joke at his own expense. it’s part of what’s kept people off of his back for so many years, after all.

She grew up in a rich family, her father inherited his business from his father. She always wanted to own and run the business. She thought it would be possible because she is the oldest, but her parents believe in traditional roles and did not think she should be the one to run it. They plan to pass down the family business to their second oldest, their son. This broke her heart, she always followed her father around and learned about his business and how it all works. 

She had her rebellious stage when she left for college. She stayed vague whenever her parents called for updates about her life. But she was doing everything she knew they would disapprove of. She had plan to never return home, but that didn't work out as planned. Her boyfriend at the time was also from her hometown, and what coincidence he also a part of a family that has a business. But unlike her, his family business was going to be passed down to him. But he didn’t want that. He didn’t plan on returning home either until his father passed, which pushed his decision on moving back home and taking over the business.

Hazel went back with her boyfriend, who turned into fiancé and then husband. They went through their arguments and disagreements, but she stay by his side and supported him. She even helped him with his business since he never took anything serious when his father was trying to teach him how to run the business. But lucky for him, she knew how. To a degree, he was helping her live her dream through him. They end up having two girls together. Not as early as her parents, and his mother wants, but they both agreed to wait until a later time when he was settle into his role and she had made a career for herself. 

Hazel and her husband divorced because she found out he was cheating on her. She didn’t file when she discovered he was cheating. She waited until she had everything planned. When she had her money all secured, her business secured, and her revenge plan. Her husband solely relies on her to run his business. This has caused her to keep her business small, but she didn’t mind because everything in their life run smoothly when it worked that way. She did most of the work and he signed whatever she needed him to sign. While she got him to sign things for his business, like any normal day, she also got him to sign his business to her. 

She filed for divorce, and lucky for her their prenup had an infidelity clause. Let’s just say the divorce and prenup was definitely pricey for her ex-husband. He was not aware yet that that he had sign over his business since she allowed him to act as if he was still in charge. He tried to get her to stay, not for love but for his business. Her parents wanted her to stay because this was the ideal marriage that allowed both families to benefit from each other business. His mother didn’t want her to divorce for the same reason as her parents. All the guilt tripping and manipulation was not worth her keeping his business. So, she decided to sell it. Her taking over his business was her original revenge plan, but selling it worked to. Nothing like starting her own business. 

She got a B&B to stay in as the divorce was going. She had plan where she was going to move and where her new business was going to be. Once the divorce was over she started her project. While she was in New York, she had her business be built in Elmerton, Florida. It’s not an idea most would have to start a business but she wanted a fresh start, far away from her parents and her ex-husband. She stayed until the girls finished the school year. Once they were done she moved to Florida, looking over last detail for business before opening it. 

Ideally, she wanted full custody of her girls, but she knew it wouldn’t be fair to not allow them to have a relationship with their father. For the summer the girls get to stay with him, but during the school year they will be staying with her in Florida.
