It was quite the day getting Po to UCD to have his tests done. As usual, we are blown away by our incredible vet team and morning caregiver who are some of the most badass women we know! After a couple of hours of trying to get our 600lb disabled guy into the trailer, Dr. Natalie finally had to sedate him, and he made the road trip, snoring and snuggled the whole way (swipe to see a pic we snapped of him cozy and sleeping as we arrived at the vet hospital). He woke up just in time to be loaded onto the forklift and taken to a warm and comfy hospital barn stall. That’s right... Po rode a forklift today... sitting up and nearly giving his mother a heart attack as he soared through the air. 🤦🏼‍♀️😳 He's now settled in with a pig patient across the aisle from him and a baby goat in a wheelchair next door. He's staying for at least a few days, and will be going under general anesthesia tomorrow morning. Putting a pig under is always dangerous, but he will be continually supervised by a team of anesthesiologists, and his medical team feels like this is the best course of action to see what’s going on with him. He'll have a stomach ultrasound, radiographs, and they'll try to do a dental exam and hoof trim while he's knocked out. They are going to try to also ultrasound his hips as well since they have the larger machines there to see if we can get more insight into his hip and spinal disability as well.
