ForI Have Sinned
Chapter 13
Tumblr media
     'You gave part of your essence, and allowed him back to earth.'
'He has to much, and his heart is pure, he must fight if we will not!' She shouted back.
'You have been hereby condemned!' Plunging further down, falling, pain straight through back. 'Have your mortal.'
    I shook my head as I sat in the garden, suddenly looking around, surrounded by the roses and other pretty bright color flowers. My heart racing in my chest, I had been in the main part of the church, Father Barnes had been looking through his bible. I looked upward, a small bird tweeted in the trees above me.
    It hopped from branch to branch, singing its song, it's tiny head flitting back and forth as it moved. Then it unfurled it's wings and jumped from the branch before flying off, high up its body becoming a black dot on a bright blue sky. Condemned. Mortal. Your kind. So far from home. Little bird. Sparrow. A jumbled mess of thoughts, pain and light, falling.
I turned and bumped into Father Barnes, my eyes met his.
"You okay?" He asked, corn washing across his face. "You just kind of wandered off while I was talking to you."
"I have.." I looked up to him, the child, the one from so long ago. "Been condemned?"
"Sparrow, you have not been condemned. Why would you think that?" He asked, sliding his hand up my arm.
My heart began to beat wildly in my chest, fear and pain flooded through me. I could feel a tear slip down my cheek as I took a step back my eyes trained to the ground. The child, the brown hair, bright blue eyes begging to live. It wasn't a dream, I knew him, I gave him.. life, gave him the ability to see the damned. My fingers tremble as my legs went out, allowing me to slowly sink to my knees. The priest catching me under my arms.
"Sparrow!" His voice sounded fade, the edges of my vision began to darken. He was the child I saved, he was the reason for my fall.
~~~
Bucky say on the edge of his cot, his eyes trained on her, hands pressed together, finger tips to his lips. He never thought he'd ever worry so much about another person as he did her, and that made him worry further. The feelings stirring inside him were at war with his mind.
Suddenly he stood and walked over to his desk, eyes focused on the black book, the one he had devoted much of his life to. The one he tried to follow that now made him wonder what he was doing. He sighed heavily, his mind in a whirlwind, he emotions toying with him.
"Bucky." Sparrows voice lifted from behind him. He looked over his should at her, the way she looked him, something had changed, her demeanor. She seemed to be different and the same all at once.
"Sparrow." He breathed, relief washing through him. She stood from the cot and walked to him, her hand sliding up his arm, leaving a trailing warmth in its place as she too looked down at the book.
"Many years ago a boy came to me, and I was to bring him to the light. A boy with heart so pure and soul aching to do good, his face stained with tears and his back stained in crimson from the wound on his head." She spoke, her voice confident and sure, Bucky could feel his brows furrow at her as she talked. "I remember now. Father, you must forgive me, for I have sinned, I gave a part of myself to a mortal boy and sent him home, with the promise he would do good in this world."
"Sparrow.." He whispered, watching her as she slowly turned her head toward him.
"And he did, even when the weight of the world was crushing down on him, he did good. Even though he thinks he has lost his faith, he has done good." She spoke directly to him, eyes slowly turning colors before him, white slowly replacing the color he had become so use to seeing. "I watched from above, watched him as he grew and kept him off the radar of my kind. He was fighting the fight that we had been told to stay away from, he grew into a man, a man I found myself proud of, one I had fallen for. They found out though."
He stood in disbelief, but slowly everything started to click. The feeling of demons, seeing them, the scars that lined her back. Her not knowing so many human responses, it all started to become crystal clear to him.
"I was condemned to earth, to live a mortal life, my grace ripped from me as I was thrown and cast out." She continued, her eyes slowly began to change back to those he had always seen. "I hurtle to earth, in pain, so much pain. They had ripped my memories from me, but they couldn't take my abilities fully from me, and I could still see the shadow demons, and the others. When I ran, I ended up running to the part of me I gave to the child. I ran to you."
He was left standing speechless, she was the reason he had lived all those years ago. An angel had been watching over him just as his mother had said. And because of him she had lost everything, lost her place in heaven, lost her grace, she was human just like he was.
"I'm so sorry Sparrow." He said, guilt coursing through him.
"Don't be, cause I'm certainly not." She replied, her eyes still lingering on his, determination set in them. "Whether or not I will ever go home I made the right choice that day. I would never change it, you deserved to live and you kept your promise to me."
"But.. I don't feel like I have, I have sinned as well, my mind isn't pure of thought." He stumbles through trying to find the right words. "Sparrow, how can I be a man of god if I've fallen in love with someone and think of them the way I have."
"Bucky, being a man of god and doing good don't have to fall in line. You can still do the good you want without being a priest." She replied with a smile. "But, you are right, we have work to do."
There’s a problem with every pack/group that are created through reality shows. Since the members can not be controlled, the dynamics within the group can be unbalanced.
For example, Nine Percent; one beta, three un-gendered pups, four alphas, and a non.
Too many alphas, no omega. And a... non?
That non was Zhu Zhengting. Someone who has no second-gender, no scent, no bond, no nothing.
That was, until he discovers that maybe, just maybe, he wasn’t a non afterall.
For I Have Sinned
Chapter 10
Tumblr media
     "What's the matter? Something seems to be on your mind." He asked, sitting down on the edge of the cot, concerned washed over his face. I shifted uncomfortably, my eyes roaming the dimly lit walls. I hate the night, too many shadows, not enough light.
"I just can't seem to be able to sleep, every time I close my eyes, I see them. The demons, and people in white, I hear screaming." I admitted pulling my knees tighter to my chest, looking down at my bare feet. These were things I kept from the people at the hospital, knowing they would tell me it was a delusion. I knew they weren't, cause I had seen them before and the fear I felt was real. "What did you dream about Father?"
"I had a dream I was intimate with a woman, sexually intimate, and I shouldn't have thoughts like that." He replied, looking down at his own hands. I sensed a nervousness in him when he spoke, the way he toyed with his pant leg.
"What do you mean by sexually intimate?" I asked him, allowing my knees to fall, adjusting to get more comfortable. Maybe listening to him would help me, maybe it would distract my mind enough to get the sleep I desired.
"Uh, well, when two people are attracted to each other preferably married, they engage in sexual relationships." He explained, fidgeting with his hands as his face began to pinken.
"I'm afraid I still don't understand. I assume it's something most normal people do though." I responded, realizing that there was still much I didn't know. The overwhelming feeling of hopelessness came over me. "Why is there so much wrong with me?"
"Sparrow, there is nothing wrong with you." He replied, I looked up at him. Father Barnes had a soft smile on his face, it was reassuring to me in a way I wasn't used to. "You and I are physically different, I'm sure you've noticed. Men are build different then a woman, especially down there." He explained while gesturing towards his crotch. "When two people become sexual engage it involves those body parts. And for me, I can't cause it's a sin."
"You can't become sexually engaged because it's a sin." I repeated back to him, he nodded slowly. "May I ask why it is sin?"
"Sex it's isn't a sin in itself when you're in a relationship. I made a vow to god of celibacy." He explained further, his blue eyes meeting mine. "You should try and get some rest, I have things around the church to attend to. I'll wake you for breakfast."
Father Barnes stood from my cot, pulling the covers back. I nestled back down, curling to my side and he gently placed the blanket over my body. He left the lamp on when he left the room. I laid there trying to think of anything but the things from my dreams. I thought about Father Barnes instead, he had been so nice to me since I had come, which was a stark difference from the people at the hospital.
They poked, and prodded, they put needles into my back all while saying they were doing good. And I'm sure they meant well, but when the shadow creatures came they refused to listen they would turn all the lights off at night, and that's when I heard the whispers. Hundreds if not thousands of them chorusing around my body, deafening everything else in the room. I would scream and scream till I was hoarse, and throat felt raw and bleeding, then day would break and creatures would be gone.
But with him, I didn't need to worry, he scared them away, he fought the demons. The ones that were like the one that crawled it's way through the vent, licking at the air. Surely he would keep me safe, all I had to do was stay here with him, in the church.
My eyes slowly drifted shut, my body falling deep in slumber.
~~~
It was still dark as Bucky traveled through the church, Truth was is he didn't actually have much to do. Most of it could wait till morning, but he had to try and get her off his mind. He hadn't had a wet dream in years, and never one that intense.
The dream had shaken him, shaken his beliefs. And if he didn't watch himself he could easily see himself plummet further and further away from one of his vows. He knelt before the cross and stared up, the wood lit from below, casting a large shadow of it on the wall behind him.
"Shadow creatures?" He whispered to himself out loud, Bucky wondered if they were demonic entities why he was unable to see them.
He had seen a great many of demons in his life, many of them looked the same. The same slick skin that was slimy and charred at the same time, the skull always concaved. Long jagged teeth, with thin serpent like tongues. He had never seen shadow creatures or demons made of bugs, nor had he ever seen the beast that she had described. He didn't doubt they existed, he just wondered why he couldn't or had yet to see them.
Then Bucky thought about the scars that ran down her back, thick angry welts on either side of Sparrow's spine. Surely when they had happened it had to hurt like hell, and they looked reasonably fresh but yet she didn't seem to notice when his palm was pressed against them. He wished he had answers but everything involving Sparrow always led to more questions then answers.
He understood that the odds are the reason both of them could see the demons was because they had both been graced by death. He had died on the operating table when they tried to fix the break in the back of his skull, and they had brought him back. And from the way Sparrow had described it, she too had died only to be brought back.
She was a conundrum, everything about her was a seemingly never ending question. Bucky lowered his eyes from the cross, he sighed heavily.
~~
The child, a mop of dark hair, stood, surrounded in brilliant white. His bottom lip trembled as most boys do when presented. He was so young, and had so much good in him. Crystal blue eyes, tears welling up in them.
Crimson coated his shoulders stemming from the back of his head, his eyes looking around in fear. His left arm hung loosely, swaying back and forth, seemingly forgotten about.
"No." He whispered, pain laced his word as alone tear snaked down his cheek. "Please, I'll be good, just let me go back. My ma and sisters, they need me, who will look after them. Please don't take me, sending me back."
I will, but only if you make me one promise.
"Who's talking." He turned, the massive split on his head exposed and raw.
Can you make me this promise James?
"Yes, Ma'am." He replied, wiping another stray tear that streaked down his face.
I'll give you a gift, but you have to use it. It will help people, protect people, and you'll do good in this world. The things you'll see, no others can. You, James, are the only human that will ever be able to see them, and you must rid the world of them. I have big plans for you, you'll be the warrior you dream of being but you must not let it get to your head. Promise me.
"I'll do it, I promise."
Okay then, till we meet again, James.

For I Have Sinned
CHAPTER 7
Tumblr media
Once we made it back Father Barnes helped me back to the cot, and I laid down. He looked down at me, bright blues mixed with confusion. I didn't know how to explain how I had known the words, I just did. I could hear them in my head the moment he was flung across the room by the demon.
   It had known me, little bird, that's what a Sparrow was, a little bird. But why did it say I was so far from home? Did it know where my home was, who I was?  Father Barnes turned to leave but I reached out and grabbed his wrist, I knew he said not to touch him but I didn't want him to leave. I felt like I need to sleep but I didn't feel like I could.
    "Please don't." I whispered, not managing to have the energy to say it any louder.
    "Sparrow, in all my life I have never met anyone who can see a demon." He said with his back turned to me. "Only a priest can exorcise one as well, I don't know how you did what you did or why it spoke to you. I can see the confusion in your face, and I'm sure it matches my own but I do know that there is reason you were on my door step, that reason eludes me but there is one."
     "Do they ever speak to you?" I asked him, watching as he looked over his shoulder to me, there was a sadness in his eye.
    "Yes." He replied before finally walking the rest of the way to the door, leaving me.
    I stayed in the bed for a while, trying to rest but my mind kept playing over the interaction with demon. My mind becoming more frustrated with the lack of memories that I had, finally I had enough. I flung the covers back and walked out of the room, I stood in the hall, looking towards the back room where I had first found him and the main part of the church.
    I turned to the main part, my bare feet treading softly against the old wood flooring. As I entered I saw him sitting in one of the pews, staring up at the color glass. I crossed over to him, and slowly sat next to him, looking up at it, the waning sunlight bathing the colors in an orange glow.
    "Father?" I asked him, looking back towards the man.
     "Hmm?" He replied, blinking hard before looking at me.
     "I don't understand a lot of things, not just with the demon, but with everything in life." I admitted, looking down at my hands. "I don't know who I am, or where I've come from. Before I woke in that place, I had a dream."
    "Jesu County Hospital?" He asked, tapping the white band around my wrist.
     "Yes, the place that put this on me. I had a dream, of pain, so much pain. There was light, and wind." I told him, slowly looking back up around the room. I chew on my bottom lip before continuing. "When I woke, I was scared and confused. So many people, all dressed in the same grey clothes with white masks on their faces, they wore purple gloves on their hands. And I heard them say we have a heart beat, she's with us."
     "You were dead?" He asked, I turned my head to look at him. I shrugged, cause truthfully I had no idea.
     "That's as far back as I can remember, but since I woke I have seen the shadow creatures, demons like the one today. I have seen grown men, open their mouths to long jagged and knarled black teeth with black eyes. Women who's eyes have glowed red, and convince good people to take the lives of others." I told him, taking a ragged breath. "I don't know why I can see them, I was told that they were hallucinations, that they aren't real for so long. And I wanted to believe them, then one night, it came in."
     "It?" He shifted, fully facing me now as I wrapped my arms around myself trying to ward off the chill from the memory.
    "It looked human, it passed as human, I could feel him long before I saw him. He was massive, his skin molted red and black. His body was human in shape but that were all the similarities ended, Father Barnes." I shuttered, closing my eyes tightly, feeling a tear well up against my eye lid. "His face was scarred and burned, his eyes the darkest shade of black, he had no hair. When he walked no one seemed to see him, except me. I could hear the clack with each step he took down the hall, echoing."
     "Oh my.." He trailed off, his eyes wide, glued to me and his mouth slack.
     "The whole building went dark the minute he turned down my hall, shadow creatures sprang out from every which way, demons crawling from vents. I ran, when the power went off every door was unlocked. I didn't stop, I didn't check on anyone, I could their screams of terror, wails of pain, but I ran." I could feel the tears dropped down from my face, I looked over to him. "Through cold wet night I ran, dodging people, hiding from other demons not just the one we saw today. And then everything went black till I woke in your cot."
     He sat, unmoving, shock written in every corner of his face. My heart beating fast in my chest and I found it difficult to breath.
    "I have no idea if anybody out there can see the things we see but I do know since I woke that first time, you are the first person I've seen the shadow creatures cower from." I told him, staring him in the eyes. "And that means something, they are scared of you Father Barnes. I know I'm safe, not just because I'm in your church, but because I'm with you."

For I Have Sinned
CHAPTER 5
Tumblr media
     It was an hour of him gathering his things, I watched as he moved methodically. He grabbed the Bible from his desk, a beautiful glass bottle with clear fluids, a beaded necklace with another cross as well as the one that hung from his wall. I watched him as he swung his coat on before he turned to me, bright blues flicked at my eyes.
     "Why are you going to see her brother?" I asked, tilting my head.
      "Gloria seems to think her brother is possessed by a demon, he's probably been drinking again but if it settles her mind, I'll go see him." He explained, looking around once more.
      "So, you'll help him?"
     "I need you to get dressed Sparrow, there are clothes in the box. I'll wait for you just outside the door." He said, walking out and shutting it behind him.
    I opened the box he had brought in during the night, I pulled out a pair of dark bottoms, and a thick grey top with a hood. I discarded the mint green bottoms I had had on, and pulled the pants on over my legs, the fabric felt stiff. I put the hooded shirt on over the tank top I had worn the night before.
     Slowly I walked over and opened the door. Father Barnes stood next to the door, his back pressed against the wall. He looked over to me as I stepped out, he looked down and saw my feet. His burrows furrowed as he stared at them.
     "Sparrow, you need shoes." He sighed walking back into the room and coming out with a pair of things for my feet. My eye flicked from the shoe back to him.
    "No, they tried to make me wear those at the last place. I don't like them, they hurt and feel weird." I told him, walking back to the main part of the church.
    "Sparrow, you have to." He stated, following me closely. "You'll step on something and cut your feet up, plus there are places you can't go without them on."
    "Then I'll just watch where I am going and I won't go to those places." I stated, turning to face him suddenly, the priest had to stop short. His body was almost flush against me, looking down. "Don't you have somewhere to be?"
    "I do, but you are coming with me, I'm not going to leave you alone in the church. Even though it is a house of god and the demons can't cross that threshold there are still countless people out there who can and would do you harm." He explained, slowly backing away, he cheeks pinkened. "So shoes please."
    "Father Barnes, if you don’t want to be late I suggest we go, the woman's brother won't be getting any better by us standing here arguing over those things that you wear on your feet." I stated, looking up him. I would not wear those, anything but those.
    He sighed, setting the shoes on one of the benches before grabbing the bag he set down. He gestured towards the door, shaking his head. I smiled to myself as I walked to the open door way. The pavement beneath my feet was wet, and cold, something about being able to feel the ground beneath my feet that soothed me. It made me feel grounded, like the thoughts, dreams and demons I saw weren't as bad as they felt.
     The dreams were mostly the same, it was when I could first remember. The sounds of humming, and the whine of static. A frightening thought that before I woke in that cold place, surround by bright lights and tubes, the sounds of steady beeping, I had no memories. Just the sound of wind, before I realized it Father Barnes and I stood before an old building, the stones it was made of were red a square.
    "Gloria and her brother Alec live on the third floor." He explained as he held the door open for me. I walked in, and I could feel it, the cold that lingered in the air, the one that I knew others missed, that could seep deep into my bones. I paused, the steady beat of heart increased as I looked over to the priest who slowly started to climb the stairs.
     I followed him up, staying close behind as the temperature continued to drop, the faint foul odor of the demon started to waft to me. I bit my lip, my fingers began to tremble, slowly I slipped my hand into his. Father Barnes looked over his shoulder at me as we climbed. He narrowed his eyes to me, but I looked up the stair way. The light on the wall flicked lightly and the shadows moved away from him like they had the night before.
    We got to a door, and I could hear the whispering, it was words I couldn't understand. Like a low rumbled, growling sound. I swallowed, feeling something thick in my throat that wasn't there. I looked to Father Barnes.
    "Sparrow, what is the matter?" He asked, looking to me.
    "It's here, can't you feel it? It's cold, and it's angry." I spoke, looking toward the door. "It wants to devour him, the man you want to help."
     "You can feel demons?" He question, his brows pinched together as he stared me.
     "You can't?" I asked back, I reached up and knocked on the door.  I could hear the hissing before any movement on the other side. "It knows we're here."
    "Well isn't that wonderful." He muttered as the door swung open.
~~~
     The smell of rotten eggs hit Bucky, almost making him take a step back. Gloria gave him a relieved smile as she stepped out of the way, allowing him and Sparrow passage into the small dwelling. The rooms were dark as he walked toward the back bedroom, Sparrow's hand tighten as she looked around. He knew she was seeing the shadows creatures on the walls.
He pushed the door open, flies swarmed out, and the smell intensified. Alec lay on the bed face down, slowly his torso rose backwards almost at an unnatural position. Bucky closed his eyes for moment to the human face, slowly he opened his eyes and could seethe demon behind the man. It’s body was coal black, and slick, it’s muscles were exposed each fiber moving as it held tight to it’s host. The head was overly large, long razor sharp teeth, inky black held its maw slightly open. The demons forehead was caved in as with all demons he had come a cross. It's long thin forked tongue slipped out between its teeth, lapping at the air before it.
It's head snapped to the Bucky and Sparrow, slowly Bucky allowed the bag to slide from his shoulder. It hissed to them as he closed the door behind them, he looked over to Sparrow, her body was rigid as she stared the entity down. He opened the bag and grabbed his cross and rosary.
CHAPTER 3
Adult themes
I followed him down the hall to a room that held an array of things, from boxes to furniture. I stood in the door way as he move things around till he pushed a cot folded in half toward the door. He handed me an extra set of blankets, giving me a warm smile as he did and placed a small box on the cot before we left the room.
"Can you tell me more about the creatures?" He asked as we walked back down the hall towards his room, the wheels on the roll away squeaking as we went.
"They're just shadows, crawling up walls, or ceilings. And they reach out for people, never actually grabbing them, and they are always trying to get me." I explained, hugging the blanket close to me, trying to wave off a chill that wasn't really there. "They fear nothing, but the light. They run from it, maybe it hurts them, I don't know."
"And you saw them earlier?" He asked, looking over to me.
"Yes, they are always around when it's dark, bad things have happened when they've been around." I whispered as we entered the room again, he left the door open as he opened the cot locking it in place. He turned, grabbing some cloth out of the box and handed them to me.
     "I'm sure you would rather wear something other then hospital clothes." He smiled as I gently took them, he turned his back unfolding the blanket as I began to remove the mint colored top I had been wearing. The cold air hit my exposed skin, gooseflesh popped up across my chest and back.
     Father Barnes turn back to me, his blue eyes went wide as he stared at my bare chest. His mouth slightly open and his cheeks flushed before turning away suddenly. I'm not exactly sure why he had done that, it was an interesting response.
      "Hail Mary, full of grace, for the lord is with thee." The priest muttered under his breath head casted up the ceiling, slowly I grabbed the top he had given me and pulled down over my exposed flesh. "Are you decent?"
    "Am I decent?" I asked back, confused by the question, how was I not decent before.
     "Do you have a shirt on?" He asked, exasperation in his voice.
     "Yes." I replied, slowly he looked over his shoulder to me before he turned to face me fully. "What do you mean by decent?"
     "I meant did you have clothes on." He sighed, walking over to me. "When you change next time, let me know so I may leave the room. I should under no circumstances see you indisposed like that."
    "I did something wrong?" I don't understand, somehow my bare body was wrong for this man to see.
     "Yes, well no, it's just." He took a breath running his hand through his hair clearly flustered. "I am a man of God, I am not to be tempted by the flesh of a woman. You did nothing wrong, Sparrow, but from now on please allow me to step outside the room."
    "Yes, Father Barnes." I responded looking down, another droplet of water fell from my eye.
    "Don't cry, Sparrow." He said softly, lifting my chin with his knuckle.
    "What is cry?" I asked, his thumb brushed the stray water that rolled down my cheek.
     "You really don't understand do you?" He asked, staring into my eyes. "You cry when you feel lost, alone, upset, in pain, or scared. This.." he held up his thumb so I could see the water that he had swiped from my cheek. "Is a tear, it's what happens when you cry."
      I nodded slowly, I had done plenty of that, cry. I never understood why the water came from my eyes. But it always had, making it hard to see at times. I looked to priest as he smiled warmly gesturing to the cot he had set up. I walked over to it and sat down, watching as he walked over to the lamp.
    "Don't!" I almost yelled, stretching my hand out to him. He stopped and looked over to me.
~~
     Bucky stared at the look on her face, twisted slightly with panic as his fingers rested on the switch to turn it off. Her eyes raised meet his, pleading with him silently not to turn the lamp off. It was the darkness she was scared of after all, she had told him that much. He nodded lightly walking back over to his cot, normally he would of disrobed and put on his bed clothes but with her in the room he had decided that was crossing the line.
    He knelt next to his bed, saying a silent pray as Sparrow laid down, watching him with curious eyes. He tried not to think about her as he laid down, giving her one last look before his closed his eyes. She was staring at him, her eyes tracking over every feature on his face, he didn't think he had ever met someone so lost and clueless about normal human responses. She was genuinely confused as to why she shouldn't just change before him.
    He tried not to think about how soft her skin looked, how full her breasts were. A part of him, a deep carnal part him want to touch her, to feel her skin. He closed his eyes tighter trying to force the image of her breasts out of his mind, he should not be having impure thoughts about her. Or thoughts about how he wanted to caress her breasts, feel her nipples harden under his finger tips.
    His pants began to constrict as he felt his cock begin to stiffen. Dear lord, he needed to stop this fantasy that kept rolling through his head, the one were his mouth was pressed tight around her hardened bud. He could feel his cock throb in his pants, it had a mind of own suddenly. He rolled to his away from Sparrow’s direction, the fabric of his pants brushing against the sensitive skin, making him bite his lip as a small wave of pleasure rippled through him.
     Bucky breathed hard, calming breathes reciting prayer after prayer, hoping for the impure thoughts to go away. Hopping and willing for sleep to take hold to stop his want of her body. He shifted his hips slightly hoping to give his lower half some more room, as his pants were becoming unbearable. The fabric rub against the head, sending a wave of pleasure through him. He knew he was in for long night.
For I Have Sinned
CHAPTER 2
Tumblr media
    I turned away from the man, slowly making my make way in the darkness. I could hear the soft steps echo lightly from his shoes behind me. A flash of light from the windows outside, casted long distorted shadows on the wall beside me. As if the creatures I had seen in the other place had followed me.
   Black smoke like bodies crawling their way up the walls, thin knarled arms reaching up toward the ceiling. I was unprepared as the clap of thunder rocked the building, my body tensed and I jumped backwards into the priest.
   "It's just the storm, Sparrow." He said softly his hands gently resting on the outside of my arms.
    "I don't like it." I responded quietly, I could hear the fear in my own voice. "It makes me scared."
    "Nothing will hurt you here." He replied, his hands slowly leaving my bare arms, the warmth from his touch lingered on my skin.
    He walked around me completely adept to walking in the pitch black. The light flashed again outside, the shadows seemed to bend away from him, desperately trying to move from the priest as he walked farther way from me. I sprinted to him, my bare feet making a soft slapping sound as they connected with the cold floor.
     The crack of thunder hit just as I reached him again, my hands seeking out his arm. He paused midstep and looked down at where my hands held onto his inner elbow. I could feel the hammering in my chest again, just like at the last place when I had seen the creatures.
    Father Barnes began to walk again, leading me back down the hall to the room where I had woken from. He looked at the cot and then back to me, biting his bottom lip. His brows pinched together for a brief moment, before he turned to me. He placed his hands on the outsides of my arms again, tilting his head down a bit. Those eyes, I could lost in how blue they were.
    "I'm going to go get one of the roll aways." He told me, I could feel my body begin to tremble at the thought of him leaving me here alone, just like the others had done.
    "Don't leave me." I said rapidly, the hammering turned to racing as I looked around the near empty room.
    "I'll only be a couple minutes, and I told you, you are safe here." He was earnest in his statement. But he couldn't see the things I did, he couldn't know that. What if they came for me, or that thing, what if it found me?
    "Can.. can't you just stay here?" I asked, feeling water fall from my eye.
    "Sparrow, there is only one cot, I have to go get another." He explained, I looked over to thin cot, the brown wool blanket rumbled just as I had left it.
     "Please.. can I come with you?"
     Just then another clap of thunder reverberated through the church, the desk lamp flickered before going out, plunging us into darkness. I grasped onto the man I knew still had to be standing before me. I tried desperately to keep my breathing even.
    "Sparrow," He sighed. "You don't know your away around the church and you'll get lost."
   "Please, Father Barnes, you don't understand." I could feel another drop of water fall from eye, streaking it's warmth down my cheek.
     "Then tell me, child." He said softly, I could feel the muscle in his arms that I grasped relax a bit.
     "I see things, and they scare me." I closed my eyes, willing the light to turn back on, trying not think of the distorted things wearing human masks.
     "What things do you see?" He asked with sigh.
      "I've seen twisted and distorted gruesome things, with long jagged black teeth. Their skulls sunken in, with no eyes but they can see you somehow, some way." I replied shakily, holding on to him like my life depended on it. I could feel him tense up, his body straightening more as I spoke.  "I'm scared they'll find me, I don't know why they want me but they do."
    "Who have you seen them in?" His voice turning serious.
     "I've seen them in the people at the last place, I've seen them crawl from vents in the walls, from drains. They seem to be everywhere." I whispered.
     "You seen them outside the human body?" He sounded confused by this.
     "Yes, the people said I was seeing things, that they weren't there but they are, I know cause they touched my ankle. Their hands are cold, so bitterly cold." My mind raced at all times I had seen the creatures. "You've seen them too, haven't you?"
     "The demons, yes. I have seen them, but never outside a human body." He replied, his hands slid down my arms, clasping on to one of my hands. "I haven't met anyone else who can see them, Sparrow."
     "So they are real?" The lights flickered back on, long smokey bodies stretching out across the walls and ceiling. Hands reaching down towards me, I pulled the priest closer to me, shutting my eyes tight. I pressed my face hard into his chest, trying to will the shadows away.
     "Sparrow, What's the matter?" He asked, his arms raised and I could feel the hesitation.
     "The creatures, they are every where." I whispered, his arms gently lowering.
~~
     Bucky looked around the room as Sparrow clung tight to him. He saw nothing out of the ordinary, the walls were still the same dull tan they had been for years, the cross on the wall hung as usual. She said she had seen the demons, and described them just as he seen most of them. However there was nothing in the room with them.
     "It's just us, I don't see anything." He said softly, slowly lowering his arms so they rested on the woman standing against him. She lifted her head, a fresh wave of tears streaking her face.
      "They're gone." She whispered, fear lacing her words as she looked around the room wide eyed.
     Her fear pulled at Bucky, it was genuine, she truly did believe something was out to get her. Bucky had never met someone so terrified as she was, the way she quivering in his arms at the prospect of being left alone, told him volumes. At the very least the priest needed to get the roll away cot, having her in his cell was a grey area to begin with, last thing he needed was her sleeping with him.
     Gently Bucky slipped his hands down her arms, and took one her hands in his. He gave it a tender reassuring squeeze, before turning and leading the way out of the room.
