✦ Chapter 7
Shinobu: "..."
Tetora: "What's wrong, Shinobu?"
Shinobu: "Nothing, I just feel like you seem more spirited than usual."
Tetora: "Really? But I don't feel like I've been taking it easy or anything."
Shinobu: "That's not what I mean! I just sense a bigger passion coming from you now. Is there something special about this job?"
Tetora: "I'm not sure what you mean, but if it's about how I feel toward this project, maybe you're right."
"I want to discover new potential for Ryuseitai through this stage."
Shinobu: "New potential for Ryuseitai?"
Tetora: "Exactly. Over the past few months, we've been switching captains and striving to build a new Ryuseitai."
"Honestly, I like this approach."
"Even though, at first, I was anxious. Last year, it felt like we clicked perfectly, but at the same time, it was as if we were all walking our separate paths."
"But now that we've been rotating as captains, I feel like we've gained so much new experience we couldn’t have before."
Shinobu: "Ah, you’re talking about what we’ve been trying to do, right? The things that used to be handled only by Morisawa-dono are now things we’re tackling ourselves."
"It’s true, these experiences wouldn’t have been possible if each of us hadn’t had the chance to lead."
Tetora: "Exactly. But it’s not just that."
"I feel like when I wasn’t the one leading, I had even more to learn."
Shinobu: "You mean when you weren’t the captain?"
Tetora: "Yeah. Each member of Ryuseitai has such a strong personality. Up until now, we’ve all tried to align ourselves with Morisawa-san’s vision for Ryuseitai, which is great."
"But the truth is, each of us has our own dreams and principles."
"Like Yuruseitai, who’s really into cute characters, or Ryuseitai C, who dreams of becoming a star that lights up the world."
"Before, we only got a glimpse of Midori’s or Kanata-senpai’s aspirations. But now, with a more developed Ryuseitai and each of us taking turns as captain, I feel like we’ve gotten to know each other better, and everyone has been able to express their own desires and dreams."
"And honestly, I’m happy to have learned more about what they’re thinking."
"They’ve opened my eyes to so much untapped potential within Ryuseitai that I hadn’t even considered."
"Ryuseitai isn’t just what we see now; we can shine even brighter."
"It might sound over the top, but that’s how I feel."
Shinobu: "So, you’ve been thinking about all of this, Tetora?"
"Does that mean you’ll be the one to expand Ryuseitai’s potential next?"
Tetora: "Haha, that’s what I aim to do as captain, but honestly, discovering new things and incorporating them into our activities is a huge challenge."
"Just like everyone else, I want to use Wildland as a chance to showcase even more of Ryuseitai’s charms."
"But sometimes, I wonder if we’re really moving forward or just standing still."
"Maybe that’s why I was discussing things with the staff earlier—I was genuinely unsure if I’m taking the right path or not. But no matter what, I’ll keep pushing forward with all my strength."
Shinobu: "Don’t worry, Tetora. You’re not on the wrong path."
"This is the path we chose together, isn’t it?"
"If it weren’t for you as captain, we wouldn’t have come this far."
Tetora: "Ah, it’s such a relief to hear that."
"I know that by taking steps into the unknown, we’ll discover new things."
"But even so, walking an unfamiliar path is nerve-wracking."
"Still, I want to uncover Ryuseitai’s hidden potential."
"So, I might end up relying on you guys again in the future."
Shinobu: "Relying on us? Don’t sweat it! Have you forgotten? Ryuseitai is..."
Tetora: "One for all, and all for one, right?"
Shinobu: "Smart! If anything comes up, don’t hesitate to count on us!"
"I’m getting even more excited to see what Ryuseitai will do at Wildland!"
Tetora: "Ossu! I’ll make sure to live up to your expectations!"
"Okay, I think we’ve talked long enough. Time to head back to the stage!"
Shinobu: "Yeah. We can’t keep Kanata-dono and Midori waiting any longer."
Midori: "Ah, found them! Kanata-senpai, they’re over here!"
Kanata: "Good job, Midori."
Tetora: "Midori? Kanata-senpai? What’s going on? Why the rush?"
Midori: "You haven’t heard yet, have you?"
"We just overheard some staff talking, so we don’t know the full details, but..."
Tetora: "Huh? What is it?"
Kanata: "Emergency situation. In Wildland, a 'beast' has escaped."

20 Questions For Fanfic Writers!
I got tagged in this by the lovely @onewhoturns, and I'll tag some others at the end!
1: How many works do you have on Ao3?
I only have 8 actually published there, but for reference, I went into my WIP folder and found over 100 more... So I do write things! I'm just really really bad at actually publishing them.
2: What's your total Ao3 word count?
Assuming I've done my math right, my current total word count sits at 262,909. Most of that is probably the longfics I've done with Turner, but there are almost certainly some hidden gems in there as well.
3: What fandoms do you write for?
Well, I haven't actually written and published something for a specific fandom for a while now, but my more common interests these days are Genshin Impact, Fire Emblem, Metal Gear Solid, Ace Attorney, Shadow & Bone (Netflix TV show specifically) and a few sporadic others! But my past works were for Oxenfree, Destiny, Ava's Demon, Homestuck, Overwatch, Critical Role, The Magnus Archives and Half Life.
4: Top five fics by kudos?
That would beeee So It Goes, Blue Hair, Red Jacket, A Different Angle, One Foot, and finally Holy Spirits!
5: Do you respond to comments? Why/Why not?
As much as I love getting comments on fics, I don't often respond to them. I don't really have enough published to get engagement super often, and even then, I'm just not the kind of person to reach out at random simply because I've heard too many Internet Horror Stories(tm). But, maybe if I do publish more in the future, I'll make a habit of answering then!
6: What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I... Don't really know? Most of my fics are either one-shots or unfinished multi-chapter works. There's probably something really angsty in my WIPs, but since it's never seen the light of day, we'll never really knows.
7: What's the fic you've written with the happiest ending?
Hmm. Hm hm hm. That would probably be a toss up between A Different Angle, which is just meant to be a nice, feel-good oneshot, or Pyrite-50: Quiet Moments, which is a kind of character study of one of my Destiny PC's.
8: Do you get hate on fics?
Since I only have 8 published, and I'm not like a super-duper popular author, I don't really think I get hate. All of the comments I've seen have been really sweet and lovely, which I'm thankful for.
9: Do you write smut?
I've been known to partake... On occasion....... <- Currently hiding most of it away in that damned WIP folder
10: Do you write crossovers?
Aside from the every-so-often "AU fic inspired by another piece of media", no, not really. But maybe that will change sometime! I wouldn't be truly opposed.
11: Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not as far as I'm aware!
12: Have you ever had a fic translated?
Nope. My reach, like I said, is pretty minimal. But if anybody were to ask, I'd say go for it, as long as I got credit as the author.
13: Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Most of my published fics are co-written! My co-author was actually the one who tagged me in this, Turner. You can go check out all our Oxenfree stuff on Ao3 right now.
14: What's your all-time favorite ship?
Oooooh, this one is hard. The one I've undoubtedly written the most for is jonalex, but I'm a huge multishipper, so I've never really preferred one pairing over another before. It's always so dependent on my mood! Can I just say all of them?
15: What's the WIP you hope to finish but doubt you ever will?
The forgotten Kaz Brekker/Darkling smut. It sits in its little google document, taunting me. I know that you're there. I KNOW.
16: What are your writing strengths?
I'd like to think I'm good at metaphors? Generally, getting into a character's psyche is what I strive for, and when I get it right it feels like a real achievement. I've also been told that I'm very good at making dialogue that feels real, or that flows in a way that makes sense, which is something else I'm really proud of.
17: What are your writing weaknesses?
Finishing things. Fight scenes (of the physical variety). The two big F's.
18: Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
Seeing as I am a person who only knows one language (and guess which one that is), I don't often write in other languages for my fics, because I'm a liiiiittle too scared of fucking up. On the rare chances I have, I usually use someone I know as a translator, but that limits me on how many languages I can conceivably use. As far as foreign languages in other fics go, I'm all for it!
19: First fandom you wrote for?
It's either Harry Potter, and that fic has now been orphaned to the wind, or maybe Homestuck?
20: Favorite fic you've ever written?
Of my published fics, it has to be So It Goes. That one has a special place in my heart for a multitude of reasons, and not just because Turner and I got to write it together. Of my WIPs, there's an unnamed freemance fic that I've been dying to finish that I just recently found again, and it made me fall in love with my writing for a second time; in a strange way.
Tagging!!

Nocturnal Reverie ch.7 [PCY]
pairing - chanyeol x fem reader
genre - mature, smut, angst
themes - power imbalance, romance, crime, justice, class divide, politics, sex
synopsis - In the sprawling, dystopian city of Emberhaven, where power and corruption reign supreme, the lives of two unlikely individuals collide in a tale of passion, intrigue, and moral reckoning. Chanyeol, an enigmatic and wealthy scion of the city's elite, finds himself captivated by the elusive Y/N, a cunning and resourceful thief who navigates the treacherous underworld of Emberhaven. Their first encounter, sparked by a chance meeting in a luxurious club called The Velvet Lounge, sets the stage for a whirlwind romance amidst a backdrop of crime, politics, and danger.
warnings - none for this chapter
A/N - a short, but very very important chapter that could bring answers or more questions. My darlings, here begins the rollercoaster ride, and I sure as hell would suggest you hang on tight - I know for a fact the characters are.
Chapter seven: Echoes of the Past
The rain had long ceased its relentless downpour, but the echoes of that fateful night still reverberated through Emberhaven. In the heart of the dystopian city, beneath the veil of darkness, Jongin paced his luxurious apartment, his mind consumed by thoughts of Y/N and the mysterious circumstances that had brought her to his doorstep.
The vintage jewelry that had once captivated his attention lay forgotten on a gleaming mahogany table. His usual charm had given way to a sense of unease, a feeling that the past and the present were inexorably linked. Jongin had always excelled in the art of deciphering rare gems and valuable artifacts, but the occurrences of the recent past remained a puzzle that defied easy solutions.
With each step he took, the polished oak floors of his mansion whispered secrets of his own past, a past that was inextricably tied to the tapestry of Emberhaven. It was a city where every story had hidden layers, where every alliance was tinged with the weight of unspoken truths. Jongin knew this all too well, and now.
As he navigated the room, his fingers idly traced the delicate lines of an antique vase, a relic from another era. The past had a way of coming back to haunt, and he couldn't shake the feeling that the events unfolding around Y/N were rooted in history that had long remained buried.
His thoughts turned to Y/N, her wounded figure etched in his memory. She had always been a survivor, a tenacious spirit who navigated the shadows of Emberhaven with grace and cunning. As he considered the life she had led, Jongin's mind drifted back to their shared history. Y/N had been a constant presence, a confidant he had known since childhood.
Y/N was more than just a friend to him. She was a connection to a past that Jongin had never truly left behind, a reminder of the bond they had formed in the midst of chaos and uncertainty. It was this bond that had led her to his hidden sanctuary that fateful night, and it was this bond that would now shape their future.
Y/N and Jongin - what seemed like an era ago:
The two had been best friends since childhood, their camaraderie dating back to the time when they were mere children, growing up in the same neighborhood. Both hailed from upper-middle-class families, their fathers sharing a peculiar professional bond. Y/N's father, an official in the tax department, was managed by Jongin's father, creating an odd symmetry between their lives.
Their mothers, housewives who found solace in each other's company, often cooked together, shared casserole recipes, and knitted side by side. These shared moments of laughter and domesticity became the foundation of a bond that would persist through the years.
As they journeyed through their formative years, Jongin and Y/N were inseparable. From attending the same schools to spending countless afternoons playing in the neighborhood park, their lives had been intertwined in the most intricate ways.
However, one fateful day, when Jongin was just twelve and Y/N nine, their idyllic world was abruptly disrupted. Jongin stumbled upon their fathers locked in a heated argument within his father's study. Y/N's father, typically composed, appeared visibly upset, while Jongin's father, usually stoic, was consumed by anger. The hushed, urgent words exchanged behind those closed doors left a profound impression on young Jongin, though he couldn't comprehend the details of the confrontation.
What he did understand, with startling clarity, was that something significant had occurred, something that would eventually sow the seeds of change.
Over the years, the bond between their families had frayed and distanced itself. The mothers' shared casserole dinners dwindled into silence, their knitting needles no longer clicked together in harmonious unison.
The once-frequent playdates and jovial outings became increasingly rare. When Jongin turned eighteen, their family decided to relocate to a more affluent neighborhood, leaving behind the place that had been their shared sanctuary. He transitioned to a private school, and with every passing day, the gulf between their families seemed insurmountable. However, despite the growing distance, the connection between Y/N and Jongin remained resilient, their bond untainted by the passage of time.
But the idyllic moments of their childhood soon gave way to an unforeseen tragedy when they were both twenty. It was a day that would shatter the innocence they had clung to for so long, casting a long and shadowy pall over their once-unbreakable friendship.
Present time - six blocks apart :
As the present moment converged with the echoes of the past, the sleek surroundings of Jongin's apartment carried the weight of silence. Not too far away, the passage of time had not dulled the embers of curiosity and suspicion that smoldered within Chanyeol's inquisitive mind. At the precipice of a crucial discovery, Kyungsoo had just sent a file, meticulously detailing Jongin's history, to Chanyeol's phone.
Chanyeol, ensconced in his in-home sauna, basked in the comforting warmth, clad in nothing but a towel. The rhythmic hum of his surroundings offered a brief escape from the tumultuous city outside, a temporary respite from the mysteries that clouded his thoughts. Just as he was on the verge of relaxation, the unexpected vibration of his phone disrupted his reverie.
Opening his eyes, Chanyeol reached for his phone, curiosity piqued. The text from Kyungsoo contained a file on Jongin, and the words on the screen were enough to stir his restful reprieve. "He seems pretty dodge, but no convictions at all. His file is clean. Still, hope you find what you are looking for, Yeol", reads the text.
His eyes scanned the message, detailing Jongin's perceived shadiness and the absence of any convictions on his record. Chanyeol's mind raced as he contemplated Kyungsoo's findings, the shadows of doubt casting a pall over his thoughts.
Quickly thumbing a response, Chanyeol expressed his gratitude for Kyungsoo's diligence. "Thank you, bro," he typed, his message resonating with the sincerity of camaraderie. The implications of the information contained within the file began to take hold, and his curiosity had turned into a relentless pursuit of the truth.
Just as he opened the file, another text came in from Kyungsoo. It read “Oh shit, almost forgot, he goes by an alias - Kai, if that means anything to you”. And it did. An unsettling familiarity unfurled before him.
Jongin's full name and old photographs were etched into the document, harkening back to a past Chanyeol had long since buried beneath layers of uncertainty. The alias also served to send a sudden jolt of remembrance, his eyes shot open in realization, the sauna's serenity giving way to the throes of recollection.

A Past Long Forgotten?
Chapter 3
Words ~ 3550
Disclaimer ~ Characters belong to Voltage Inc.
Link to Chapter 2 below ⬇️
Finally making it back to the comfort of her apartment, MC could finally relax. She opened up her limited-edition Lady Borden ice cream and stuck on one of her mission impossible movies. Watching her beloved Tom and eating her favourite ice cream always helped to relax her.
Yet, suddenly, her mind was back on Eisuke and Soryu. Why would they keep looking for her? She had abandoned them. Without second thought.
Thinking it odd, she opened up an EAC file for Eisuke Ichinomiya and researched his background. Other than his credentials and monetary status, nothing particularly stood out.
He had done well for himself since university. MC was genuinely glad he was able to make his dreams come true. Even if she hadn’t been beside him as he made them into a reality.
Her heart started beating rapidly. An ache filling her. Feelings she had locked away for 7 years. Ones she had not so much as thought about in the last few years were beginning to creep up.
She looked down and noticed she had been twisting and turning the ring on her finger. A habit she had formed when she felt stressed. As though the meaning behind the ring would be enough to banish the stress.
Funny. She wondered, how that would work this time, when the meaning behind the ring was why she was feeling stressed in the first place.
She shook her head. Vigorously. Attempting to banish all thoughts of Eisuke from her mind. A past, long forgotten. Attempting, unsuccessfully to enjoy her ice cream and beloved Tom.
**
A couple of days had passed by, and MC had successfully avoided any additional run ins with Eisuke and Soryu.
Tonight, she would be attending the IVC and then hopefully the auction. Due to what had been going on and the fact Eisuke appeared to have recognised her, the Boss decided he would be partnering up with her one the mission.
Seemed sweet, like a knight in shining armour there to protect her. But no. It was merely a security measure. In case she failed to complete the mission, or if something were to go wrong, he would be there to eliminate the threat of agency exposure. In other words, kill her off.
Hugo arrived earlier that evening to style her hair, makeup and provide MC with a new dress. Once again, he dressed her up like a million dollars.
Tonight she was styled in a long, pure white, dress. Perfectly hugging her curves. Once again a slit ran up her right thigh. Showcasing her sexiness, but secretly providing her easy access to her weaponry. This time, Hugo curled her locks before styling it in a low, loose side bun.
A mask provided to her ready for the auction, after she learned identities were supposed to remain hidden.
The Boss and MC had arranged a rendezvous point outside the hotel, where they would meet before heading inside together.
The mission was simple. Bug the individuals suspected of being auction managers, from her previous surveillance it was apparent the 5 friends were all involved, one way or another. This would allow any discussions regarding her targets items to be recorded.
Then once in the auction hall, establish some bugs and cameras in hidden locations to leave for future use.
And finally, make Matt Spencer’s acquaintance.
Spraying her perfume on her wrist, neck and behind her left thigh, she was once again Sofia Pedro.
**
Stepping out of her cab by the hotel, she saw the Boss already waiting for her.
“Sofia, are you ready to head in?” He asked with a beautifully faked smile, while offering her his arm.
“Myles, good to see you” She replied, slipping her hand into the crook of his arm.
And with that, their mission began.
Upon entry, the first of her bugging targets was in front of them, checking their invitations before letting them inside. Mamoru Kishi. She noticed him eye her carefully, looking at her as though he felt like he should recognise her but not sure where from. While Mamoru continued checking their tickets and names, MC slipped a bug into both his jacket pocket and under his jacket collar.
“My apologies Señor, you had some fluff on your collar” MC held up the fluff she had brought with her to excuse the fact she had to touch his clothing to attach the bug. He simply nodded in thanks, letting them both pass through.
Step one, complete.
Separating herself from the Boss, MC headed over towards the bar. Sharp eyes scanning all the guests, she watched for the men who were her targets for the night. As if it had been planned, a man moved to her side.
“Well what’s a pretty lady like you doing here alone?” Baba asked, showing his best flirty smile. Smiling back, MC replied,
“I’m just collecting drinks for me and my date”.
“You wound me. Here I thought I could have swooped in and had you for myself” While he’s talking to her, MC slipped the bugs into his pocket and rim of his hat, while pretending she was checking the hat out like she wanted to wear it.
“Well, if you’d excuse me –” Just as she was about to move on a voice interrupted her.
“Hahaha Baba, you just got rejected again!” Ota Kisaki has moved next to her now. “You look familiar, have we met before?” He asked, looking at her curiously.
“Heheh,I get that a lot, but I am afraid I have no recollection of ever meeting you before” While engaging in conversation MC moved beyond him, dropping a bug into his pocket first, then lightly brushing one into his belt.
“Your eyes. They are a lovely colour” Smiling gently MC offered a polite nod before moving on.
Steps 2 and 3 complete.
Next comes the hardest two. If she were to get close they may try take her off to talk again. It’s fine. MC was a top agent, she could make this work. Moving back over to where the boss was waiting for her, she was met by the man with a satisfied smile on his face.
“Good work Sofia, just two more to go.” He whispered in her ear. “I can help you –”
“No need.” MC interrupted, “I have a plan already” Nodding once, She made her move.
First she headed over to where she spotted Soryu standing watching the room. With him and Eisuke she wanted to be in and out, no talking so she needed to be subtle. Luckily for her, he was stood talking to someone over by the drinks.
Heading over and making it look like she was getting a drink from a waiter, MC subtly dropped the bug into his suit pocket and slightly brushing by him, sticking the other bug under his collar. Still walking MC felt him turn around and look for signs of who may have touched him before he resumed talking again.
Step 4, complete.
Finally, it’s time to bug Eisuke. MC could see him surrounded by women. The group have become known as his groupies. Now this will be the hardest. But… she was going to take a risk. She also knew his groupies hate any outsider touching him. So, her plan was to casually trip into him, make eye contact while he freezes, slip her bugs onto him, before being ripped away from him by his groupies. Then slip away in the chaos.
Risky yes.
But she was confident it would work.
Making her way towards him ready to execute her plan. Tactically placing her heel into the floor, MC stumbled forward into Eisuke. Hands quickly grabbed her waist to steady her. She could feel the evil stares of jealousy coming from the women and the glare of a man above her head. So, she slowly raised her head, her eyes meeting his. As expected he gasped and tightened his grip on her waist. During this moment she quickly slipped the bugs into his jacket pocket and shirt sleeve.
“It’s you” He whispered, as she finally felt the grip of the women yanking her away from him. In the moment where he looked to glare at the women who separated the two, MC made her escape.
When he looked forward again, she was already gone.
Step 5, complete.
Making her way to the Boss he smiles at her.
“You never fail to amaze me.”
“Thank you, people seem to be going over to that bar keeper. All state Rabbit, then Bunny Mary to him. He then welcomes them to the mad hatter’s tea party and opens up that door. I think that’s where the auction must be held.”
“Good work, lets head over” Making their way to the bar keeper, like everyone else they stated the information and were welcomed inside.
Placing their masks on they headed inside. As they walked through the entrance, MC attached bugs and cameras into the crevices of a few pillars. They observed a number of items being sold before making their way towards the exit.
Their joint mission for the night was complete. All that was left for MC to make her acquaintance with Matt Spencer.
**
MC hovered in the hotel bar. Drink in hand, waiting for the auction to end. It had become Spencer’s ritual to come to the bar every night since he started residing in the hotel. She had no doubt he would be arriving there again tonight.
As if by fate, she saw the very man she had been waiting for, walking through the glass doors of the bar. Taking a seat beside her as though it had been his place from the beginning, he offered MC a friendly smile, while ordering a drink.
“What’s a beautiful woman like you doing sitting here all alone?” He asked. Hungry eyes roaming over her body, eyeing her up and down.
“Can’t a woman get a drink after a long day” MC responded, looking up at him through her lashes. Spencer was immediately taken in by the seductive gesture. His body relaxed, and he begun leaning towards MC much more intimately. He was putty in her hands.
“Heh, of course. So, what is the pretty lady’s name?”
“Sofia, and you are?”
“Matt. Matt Spencer. I am currently running for office.”
“Oh goodness, Mr Spencer. Excuse my rudeness. You would think with my profession, I would have realised who you were sooner.” MC acted flustered in the wake of his boast. His interest had been piqued by her words.
“Your profession?”
“I’m a political advisor”
“How fascinating. I would love to talk with you some more, if the lady is interested?”
“And I, you” MC responded, successfully worming her way into his life.
As Spencer reached out and placed his hand on her thigh, letting his fingers graze under the slit slightly, she felt a cold glare on her back. Subtly turning her head, she noticed Eisuke and the others had entered the bar, and they were looking over at her.
“Great. Shall we continue this in my suite?” He asked, his eagerness to have MC alone apparent. Earning a harsher glare from the men behind them, as the air around them seemed to drop a few degrees.
“I would be honoured, Mr Spencer”
“Please, call me Matt” He said, swiftly taking her hand in his and walking towards his suite.
As he took her hand, MC subtly bugged his shirt sleeve. Eisuke and Soryu followed her with their eyes until she was gone from sight.
Arriving in Spencer’s room, he immediately headed to the bathroom to take a shower. Perfect. Pouring two glasses of champagne, MC made quick work of spiking the one she had prepared for Spencer.
As soon as he passes out, she could conduct a quick sweep of his room, set up a couple of cameras and take her leave for the night.
The sound of the bathroom door clicking open, indicated Spencer’s return. He walked into the bedroom with just a robe. With a seductive smile, MC handed the spiked champagne to Spencer. He made quick work of the drink. Was he simply thirsty? Or was he thirsty for her?
He had ingested the drug. It would only take a few minutes to kick in. She just had to bear with his actions until then.
MC was known for her honeytraps. However, her traps never went as far as sex. Kissing and touching was as far as she ever let her targets get before finding a way to end things. Tonight, would be no different.
Spencer grabbed her hips tight, smashing his lips to hers. Pretending to be enjoying the moment, MC wrapped her hands around his back, pulling him closer to her body. His lips trailed down her neck and collar bone, leaving a trail of faint red marks. Great, something she’d need to hide later.
As Spencer guided her to the bed, he gently laid himself down, pulling her on top of him. His fingers traced lines over her skin, before gently beginning to unzip her dress.
Suddenly, his arms went limp.
Perfect timing, she smirked as she gazed at Spencer who had fallen into a deep slumber.
Extricating herself from him, MC left the comfort of the bed and begun searching Spencer’s belongings. Inserting a memory chip into his phone and laptop, MC downloaded all the files and sent them to the EAC for analysis.
Climbing up onto the desk, she reached up and attached a camera of her own in a place out of view. This would enable them to observe any of the activities he participates in without needing to be present.
With that sorted, MC contacted the Boss to confirm the data and feed were available to them over at headquarters. Receiving the necessary confirmation, her mission for the night was complete.
Leaving her fake business card behind, with a note ‘Tonight was fun, talk soon x’ MC vacated Spencer’s hotel room.
Exiting the room, MC made her way towards the elevator. The success of the evenings mission, had MC walking with a slight spring in her step. She had finished up much earlier than anticipated.
However, before she could make it all the way, she noticed two figures ahead. Eisuke and Soryu. They appeared to be waiting for someone. Shit, surely they couldn’t be waiting for her?
Just as that thought had crossed her mind, they both turned to look towards her. What was it about her presence that seemed to draw their gaze, like moths to a bright light?
Yeah, no this was not happening right now. Spinning around MC started making her way towards the stairs instead.
“Wait!” She heard them shout from behind. Not happening! MC began running. “Goddammit woman, I said wait! Soryu follow her, I’ll take the elevator!”
Amusement flitted through her at the uncanny repetitiveness of these two men constantly telling her to wait.
Despite having run down a few flights of stairs, MC could still hear Soryu running behind her, calling out asking her to wait. Not going to happen, she thought apologetic for the constant chase.
Exiting the stairwell and quickly entering the women’s toilets, MC opened up the window and looked down. 25 more floors. Eisuke will be at the bottom shortly using the lift, Soryu was following on the stairs.
Desperate times, call for desperate measures? Well now was that time. She needed a new escape route and her only route now was out of the window. Climbing down, utilising the balconies and edges. It wouldn’t be the safest route, but it was the only option that avoided the pair indoors.
As she readied herself to climb out the window, a shadow appeared under the door to the toilets. His presence was the final straw to confirm this was definitely her only option should she wish to evade being caught.
So she jumped.
It wasn’t far down to the next balcony. After the initial jump down, she was much more careful in her climbing down.
The building was made of glass, allowing her to see inside. She had made her way down around 15 levels, she only had 10 more floors to go down before she would reach the bottom.
As she jumped down to the next ledge, she made eye contact with the man on the other side of the glass. Eisuke. His eyes bulged, gobsmacked at her fearlessness to jump.
Knowing he was now aware she was outside, MC began jumping from ledge to ledge quicker.
Eisuke’s shock only increased when he noticed how her speed was quicker than the lift. If she was quicker than the lift, he was sure she was quicker than Soryu who was still using the stairs.
Finally, she made it onto the ground. It was time to disappear into the crowd, she thought. She needed to get away quickly. Hopefully they would give up the chase when she wasn’t insight anymore.
She had been navigating herself through the streets, when she found herself approaching the boardwalk 10 minutes from the hotel. Thinking it far enough, she finally allowed herself a minute to catch her breath.
As she sat down, she gazed up at the night sky. Glimmering stars coated the dark sky, as far as she could see. A bright moon, offering an ethereal glow over the water.
Fiddling with the ring of her finger, she was reminded of that night.
That night, back when she was 18 years old.
That night that was the cause of the reoccurring nightmare she was having.
That night… in a past that should have been long forgotten.
***FLASHBACK***
It was a summers evening in London. Eisuke, Soryu, Luke and MC had spent the day exploring the city since they had decided it would be one of the stops on their travels. They were traveling to celebrate before MC would be heading off to university.
As a group they had attended a festival, enjoying the arcade games on offer. Eisuke suddenly whispered to Soryu and Luke, then with a smile took a hold of MC’s hand and lead her away from the scene.
The temperature had started to drop. By the time they reached their destination, the night sky was full of stars.
In front of them was the London Eye. Eisuke proceeded to drag MC along and onto one of the cars. Since they were the only two people there, they allowed the car to remain at the top for much longer than they usually would.
While it was not rare for Eisuke and MC to be alone together, it was rare for him to make a point of dragging her off somewhere like this, when they had been with their friends.
The air seemed charged with romantic passion.
“This view… it’s beautiful” MC whispered, gazing out across the night time cityscape.
“This view, is always beautiful to me” Eisuke replied quietly, yet when MC looked at him he was not looking out at the city, but directly at her. “You’re beautiful MC”
His directness made her blush. Her fevered cheeks appeared contagious as the same reddy glow coated his cheeks too.
It was no secret that MC and Eisuke had some sort of sexual chemistry. They had hooked up a number of times, but never really mentioned it.
“I’ve thought this the whole time I have known you, but your eyes are the brightest, most gentle eyes I have ever seen. And they are the only eyes that have ever truly seen me”.
He had taken her hand in his at some point. When? MC was unsure. She had been so wrapped up in his words to notice anything but them.
“Eisuke…” She had whispered his name, but before she could say anymore his lips were on hers, capturing and locking in a passionate kiss.
Unexpectedly, Eisuke had pulled out a small, dainty box. When MC had seen the box, she gasped. He opened the box, directing it towards her, displaying the small delicate diamond ring inside.
“MC, we’ve known each other since we were little. We’ve grown up together… and I have spent the last couple of years madly in love with you. Please, take this promise ring, take it and say you’ll be mine?” Eisuke declared everything she had wanted to hear from him over the last few years.
Smiling widely, she nodded joyfully.
“I’m in love with you too, Eisuke!” As soon as the words left her mouth, his lips were on hers again, as he fumbled to slide the ring onto her finger.
***END OF FLASHBACK***
That night, after Eisuke and MC had finally agreed to be together, MC found herself in trouble, being taken away by some men. Being saved by the Boss, then saying goodbye to the old MC.
Evidently, she couldn’t say goodbye to everything.
That past that was supposed to be long forgotten, lived on.
Through the ring, that had remained on her finger since the night he had given it to her. She had never taken it off.
She had accepted she couldn’t see them again. Couldn’t say goodbye. He had been her first, and her only love.
And it had been ripped away from her, before it ever truly begun.

Title: The Cursed Slumber
Chapter 1: The Haunting Dream
Once upon a time, in a forgotten kingdom, there lived a young princess named Aurora. She was known for her ethereal beauty and kind heart. However, her life took a dark turn when she began experiencing terrifying nightmares that would haunt her every night.
Chapter 2: The Sinister Curse
Aurora's nightmares were unlike any other. They were filled with blood-curdling screams, eerie whispers, and grotesque creatures lurking in the shadows. Each night, she would wake up drenched in sweat, her heart pounding in her chest. The dreams seemed so real, as if they were trying to warn her of an impending danger.
Chapter 3: The Mysterious Prophecy
Desperate for answers, Aurora sought the guidance of an old wise woman who lived deep within the enchanted forest. The wise woman revealed a chilling prophecy: "Beware, young princess, for a curse has been cast upon you. On your sixteenth birthday, you shall fall into a deep slumber, and only true love's kiss can awaken you. But be warned, for your nightmares shall come to life, and darkness shall consume the kingdom."
Chapter 4: The Race Against Time
Determined to break the curse, Aurora embarked on a perilous journey to find her true love. Along the way, she encountered malevolent creatures and faced her deepest fears. The kingdom, once filled with joy and laughter, now lay in ruins, shrouded in an eternal night.
Chapter 5: The Unveiling of Secrets
As Aurora delved deeper into the mystery, she discovered a dark secret that had been hidden for centuries. The curse was not just a random act of evil; it was a consequence of a long-forgotten betrayal. The kingdom's past sins had come back to haunt them, and Aurora was the key to their redemption.
Chapter 6: The Final Battle
With the help of a few loyal friends, Aurora confronted the source of the curse, a malevolent sorceress who had been manipulating her dreams. In a climactic battle, Aurora fought for her life and the future of her kingdom. The sorceress unleashed her darkest powers, but Aurora's determination and love for her people proved stronger.
Chapter 7: The Awakening
As the first rays of dawn broke through the darkness, Aurora's true love finally found her. With a tender kiss, he broke the curse, and Aurora awakened from her cursed slumber. The kingdom was bathed in light once more, and the nightmares that had plagued her vanished into thin air.
Epilogue: A New Beginning
Aurora's journey had taught her the power of love, courage, and forgiveness. With her kingdom restored, she became a wise and just ruler, ensuring that the sins of the past would never be repeated. The nightmares that had once haunted her became a distant memory, a reminder of the strength she had found within herself.
"The Cursed Slumber" is a chilling horror novel that takes the reader on a journey through the darkest corners of the human psyche. With its no-style writing approach, the story unfolds in a raw and unfiltered manner, immersing the reader in a world of terror and suspense. Prepare to be captivated by the twisted nightmares of Sleeping Beauty and the battle between light and darkness.

- tick tock: a tale for two (2.99$) (only available on iOS, and an order version of Android)
- escape lab (free on android, episode one is free on iOS)
So now I'm going to talk about the ones I've played.
The new York mystery games 1 to 5: I loved every single one of them. The well thought plot and story of each game really ties this whole thing together. It has animated scenes to showcase the story, and you can get hints through one ad at a time. I normally hate ads but in this case where it's only for coins to get hints then I'm fine with that. Though what really bugs me is the fact that the mini games cost 10 coins to skip, and I'm not a very smart person, so I sometime skip a mini game or two...or five I don't know, who's counting am I right?
New York mysteries 1: secrets of the mafia.
Anyway, here's a description and a few links for their walk-throughs:
New York mysteries 1: secrets of the mafia.
The first part of the NY mysteries series is about a mafia trying to take over the city. There’s missing kids and mafia bosses, which ends up being a case of the supernatural, where they call the order.
The order is an underground, secretive part of the government where all agents, police officers, reporters (that’s what the main character is), and many more control supernatural phenomenons.
The main character is called Laura, she’s a reporter/journalist who’s awesome and I love her so much. Laura appears in all NY mystery games, as well as other characters who I will not spoil.

* link for bonus chapter walkthrough: https://zotuf.com/new-york-mysteries-1-secrets-of-the-mafia-bonus-chapter-walkthrough/
New York mysteries 2: high voltage
The second NY mysteries game is about solving the mystery of a murderer surrounded by lightning. It also contains supernatural beings, just like all NY mysteries games.
It is set in the past, in the 1950’s, in New York. Following who solves the case, Laura is introduced to more characters and goes places. You can also access a map, just like the rest of the NY mysteries games.

* link for bonus chapter walkthrough: https://zotuf.com/new-york-mysteries-2-high-voltage-bonus-chapter-walkthrough/
New York mysteries 3: the lantern of souls
This was by far one of my favorites.
The third installment of the NY mysteries series is about solving unusual murders that happen in the city.
I’ve also heard you can look death in the eye. Which I have. And he wasn’t as hot as I thought he was gonna be.
This one is set in a mansion following the weird death of a character’s husband and the disappearance of her husband’s corpse. What follows is an eerie type of evil force: souls.

* link for bonus chapter walkthrough: https://zotuf.com/new-york-mysteries-3-the-lantern-of-souls-bonus-chapter-walkthrough/
New York mysteries 4: the outbreak
Now, coincidentally, the fourth NY mysteries game is the first one I’ve played. This one was really entertaining to play cause I thought it was easy, which in turn made me download all the others to play.
The fourth one is about a virus that is about to break in the city. Laura wakes up in a play area with a doctor who helps her, but to the people who have trust issues, yes you’re right. I can’t say more, otherwise I’ll spoil it.
* link for walk-through: https://www.bigfishgames.com/blog/walkthroughs/new-york-mysteries-the-outbreak.html
* link for bonus chapter walkthrough: https://zotuf.com/new-york-mysteries-4-the-outbreak-bonus-chapter-walkthrough/
New York mysteries 5: power of art
This is the fifth and most recent installment. It’s about a monster coming to life from a painting, which Laura has to solve how it became real and when.
Follow the same characters from previous games, and multiple character’s perspectives, play so many mini games and can I just say, Laura has aged like honey. Cause honey never goes bad. Which means that Laura is still beautiful and amazing and the best fictional woman out there for the job.
* link for walk-through: https://progameguides.com/new-york-mysteries/new-york-mysteries-5-walkthrough/
DO KEEP IN MIND, THE LINKS FOR THE MAIN CHAPTERS WALK-THROUGH DON’T CONTAIN HOW TO OBTAIN (hey that rhymed) WHERE THE ILLUSION OBJECTS AND SECRET OBJECTS ARE. YOU NEED THOSE OBJECTS FOR THE EXTRAS AND THE BONUS CHAPTERS. FIND THEM YOURSELF.
You should check out what other games the creators gave made cause there are so many it's almost never ending. I love it. Their collector’s edition contain more mine games you can access to and so many more things but I forgot I'm sorry '-' so if you do buy that pack tell me what difference there was. If you don't, it's okay the free version is just as good.
I installed lost lands 1 and I'm currently playing it but without hints I'd be so lost, no one judge.
Lost lands 1 starts with a woman and her son. The woman is talking on the phone and the son wanders away because someone’s calling him to get closer.
Immediate vibes I called were perverted and creepy. Kids, never follow a voice telling you to come closer. Unless you’re 18 and older, then i’m not responsible :)
So far I’ve done 21% of the game and look, I love these types of games and their plots and their dramatics, but I’m an impatient person okay?? so the fact that I found a key in the forest to open a door by the lake kilometers away is not it. I still love it and would play a thousand of these games.
I have now completed 69% of the game (hehe noice) and I am very frustrated because look I'm also not a smart person okay?? I can admit that I'm dumb, very dumb, and I need help with things. So thank god for free (although ad included) hints.
Also, when the game starts in the first few minutes, you click on an owl and put it in your inventory like an item. But it was in fact, a live owl. An actual animal. Who flies. That made me laugh so hard. The pet owl does help with carrying things you can't reach so I guess that’s a a bonus.
I recommend these games, absolutely, yes, a thousand times yes.
Let's talk about the Rusty Lake games.
Best. Games. Ever. Created.
Like, the whole creepy ambiance and the well hidden items you have to find for achievements. I cannot explain how amazing these games are. The difficulty level to solving some of the puzzles is almost impossible to even imagine. But don't worry they include hints and that's what walk-throughs were made for.
- the past within lite
- samsara room
- underground blossom lite
- another shadow (1)
Another Shadow is game about a married couple Bastian and Carissa. They’ve been living for five years in their house, when after Bastian’s last birthday, they’ve been experiencing paranormal occurrences.
Apparently, a curse from Bastian’s past has returned to torment him and his wife. One day, Bastian gets taken by shadow like hands and sucked in under the bed.
Bastian has fallen into an alternative dimension. He was in an order, more creepy version of their house, whereas Carissa stayed at their normal house in the normal world.
You play both characters, Bastian and Carissa by clicking on the character’s head on the bottom left to switch between the two. Some things are connected from the normal world to the alternative world, and vice versa.
This game is challenging cause you have to remember things you overlooked from a place, which can turn out to be the answer to this puzzle to another place.
Following the end of this game, which I will not spoil, one of the endings is a bad one which I have encountered many times, we see another character called Laia.
That lead me to download what I believed to be the second installment of the games and play it as a continuation.
- haunted laia (2)
Haunted Laia follows a girl with her dad and younger brother moving in a house in the same town as the one Bastian and Carissa lived in. They show the family of three looking at a picture of a woman who I’m assuming is the mom and died I’m not sure.
But ever since they moved, they’ve been haunted by weird shadow like creatures and invisible forces. After a few days, they disappeared with now one hearing about them for about 3 years. What a way to move to a new home and start a new life after your mom died huh?
The story continues to show Laia, the eldest daughter (and the only daughter really) waking up on foggy grounds not remembering anything. She gets up, calling for her dad and brother, but no one answers. The game starts in a foggy place with weird items in each room.
The ending was a twist on its own really. I don’t know if it has multiple endings. And then I downloaded what I thought to be the third installment, but I also don’t remember what lead me to believe that was the third one.
- nowhere house (3)
Nowhere House follows a story about a witch who lives in Hidden Town (Where Laia, Bastian and Carissa lived). She was haunted and captured by the people in the town cause they’re really rude like leave the witch witching alone ugh.
And on the day of her conviction she casted a curse on the town because what else is she going to do am I right?
(I’m not gonna copy and paste what she said cause at this point I’m terrified of copyright or something I’m sorry)
Basically the curse implied that the witch’s soul will stay in the town, in her house. And if a stupid idiot decided to come near it she’ll possess that person. Then she “mysteriously” disappeared.
Years after that alleged curse, three dumb friends decided ‘Hey let’s see if the legend’s true guys cause we’re super smart’ like any other person would do, right? ERRRR WRONG!
Even if someone didn’t believe in the supernatural, I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t go in.
So the friends, Brann, Lauriel and Andria go in the house when something strange happens: the first two see an empty house whereas Andria can see a furnished house. Then she noticed her friends were gone. And when she tried to leave, vines with thorns were wrapped around the door and making it impossible for her to run away.
The game starts and you have to find your way out of that house.
I really wish I could remember the ending, but I’m sure it was just as good as the other games.
Then, I downloaded what I thought was the fourth game.
- unwanted experiment (4)
Unwanted Experiment is about rumors to have been spread about a newly moved scientist’s weird behavior because of course.
This scientist acts suspicious because he avoids being seen by anyone, and trying to keep his distance.
(Honestly, if this was in the pandemic this would’ve been a good thing)
His lab was in the basement of the farthest house in town, and during those two months of his stay there, people have been seeing weird creatures’ silhouettes near his lab.
And so, Erik, a dumb villager decides ‘Hey I’m a strong man who wants to get to the bottom of this even if this isn’t any of my business and down affect me in any way’ and he found an entry to the lab and obviously wanted to go in, though dumb Erik wasn’t as smart as he thought he was, cause he was found by none other than the scientist.
The scientist hit him with a needle and made him pass out. The game starts with you having to tap on Erik to wake him then tapping on his arms to get him to escape from the chair. You have to escape the scientist’s lab.
What follows is a surprising turn of events, and the ending was pretty much every hero vs villain ending, but you can lose and win so I guess that’s two endings?
Anyway, then I went on to download the fifth game.
- the girl in the window (5)
The girl in the window is about a murder case that has been cold for over 20 years. The house of the murdered was abandoned and obviously the people in the town claim seeing things inside the house.
One of the things they’ve seen is a girl in the window. Which was weird because the house has been empty for over two decades.
You are playing an unknown person, who wants to discover the truth. You get trapped in the house and have to find your way out.
Now this game turned me to the sixth game, which I believed to also be connected cause of the same characters were there.
- ghost case (6)
Ghost Case follows a detective trying to solve that 20 year old cold case. Detective Ren has received strange signals from the afterlife which I guess is a wake up call to finding the killer from a 20 year old cold case?
He believed the souls of the victims were following him and haunting him. He thought the spirits wanted peace for what happened to them. So Ren set out to find the siblings’ killer.
You play Detective Ren, and start in his office. You have to find evidence and who killed the siblings. Open the drawers and take a map, that helps you travel from one place to another.
The six I just mentioned are still downloaded on my tab, I play them every now and then. I've started the games from the beginning each time cause they're that good. Each game has different endings, which I think I only discovered two ending scenes in unwanted experiment, but I'm currently replaying the others so I find the different endings.
- strange case 1: the alchemist
- strange case 2: asylum escape
- underground blossom lite
* duration: 15-30min
* only first two chapters crib station and child lane
* link for walk-through: https://www.appunwrapper.com/2023/07/05/underground-blossom-lite-walkthrough-guide/

* two players or you can two devices
* link for walk-through: https://www.appunwrapper.com/2022/10/14/the-past-within-lite-walkthrough-guide/
I played this game twice. Once with a friend and another time alone with two devices. It works on both iOS and Android. It's pretty easy but the maze part was kind of hard even thought I did finish it in 5 minutes.
THESE TWO ARE DEMOS, NOT THE FULL GAME. THEY ARE FREE, WHEREAS THE FULL GAMES HAVE TO BE PAID TO PLAY.
NOTE: the next six games are not in order, but they are in the order I played them in.

NOTE: there’s a new mystery game that will be here in September!!! I’m so excited. It’s called escape from the shadows. and from the picture I think it’s a game merging all plots and stories? I’m not sure and I don’t know. Still excited though.
I haven’t yet finished the cube escape games, but I found an order list somewhere and I’m sorry to the person who wrote it, I don’t remember where you wrote it '-' but thank you for that!!
The order to play is:
1. Cube Escape: Seasons
2. Cube Escape: Lake
3. Cube Escape: Arles
4. Cube Escape: Harvey's Box
5. Cube Escape: Case 23
6. Cube Escape: Mill
7. Rusty Lake: Hotel
8. Cube Escape: Birthday
9. Cube Escape: Theatre
10. Rusty Lake: Roots
11. Cube Escape: Cave
12. Rusty Lake: Paradise
14. Cube Escape: Paradox
15. The White Door (By Second Maze)
16. Samsara Room
Here’s a link for all rusty lake games walk-through: https://www.appunwrapper.com/all-rusty-lake-and-cube-escape-game-walkthrough-guides/
(THANK YOU FOR WHOEVER DID THIS, YOU SAVED MY LIFE)
NOTE: For all cube escape games, just download the cube escape collection. It has all of them.
I do recommend these games, and I also recommend you check out other Rusty Lake games cause they’re literally the best at creating these kinds of games. There were some other creators trying to recreate similar games but they weren't as good cause it's rusty lake come on.
NOTE: the rusty lake games are all connected by the plot line cause sometime you have to use a something from another game like I used a password from cube seasons in cube lake, unlike new York mysteries which are not connected in the same way, but it links through time and the characters.
- Strange case 1: the alchemist.
I've only played the first one and I'm ashamed to admit that I was bored during this game. Their walk-through is a video which I don't like but it got the job done.
- Through abandoned
It got too complicated for me to finish so I quit halfway. But it is a good game though in some places I was stuck because I didn't know where to go and what to do.
- lost in play
That demo was adorable and I was so sad when I realised it was a demo. Do I recommend buying the full version? I don't know because I haven't bought it myself so if there is anyone out there who bought it tell me!
- tiny room stories town mysteries
I finished that game in two weeks, and it was the most complicated two weeks I've ever spent. There are hints that help you and show you exactly what to do and where.
Moral of the story, don't go in abandoned houses, don't follow weird voices telling you to follow them, and keep your kids on a leash. A metaphorical one...or an actual one I don't know it's none of my business.
Until next time.
Byebye!

In Which Kalpas Is A Heater, And You Get To Slap Him
A Kalpas x reader fic crossposted on my ao3
Chapter 7 below!
You had finally, finally finished the battlesuit for Kalpas after staying up all night adding the last touches. Having sent a comm message a little over an hour ago, you expected him to show up at any minute, which meant you were working on another project rather than getting a much-deserved nap. After another hour of waiting, your eyelids betrayed you and your head landed on your desk where you stayed for a handful of hours.
When you woke, it was your body reacting, trying to defend itself from the most obnoxious man in the world.
"Aaaaaand how’s my favorite-! Oh,” the voice cut itself short and switched to a whisper, “Why are you here?”
Waking up any tired mechanic was generally not a good idea, but you specifically had been known to throw very deadly weapons at those who tried anyway, so really it was Timothy’s own fault when you practically growled at him.
“Timothy Roberts,” you voice was muffled as you left your head buried in your arms. “If you do not get out of my workshop right. now. You will get to be the first person to experience my newest sword.”
There was no response, but a few seconds later the door slid shut and you assumed he had left. Unfortunately, you were awake now, so you decided to make the most of the time. Pushing your head further into your arms, you groaned before sitting up and rubbing your face. Now that you were starting to wake up, you realized your shop was very toasty, and one of your spare blankets had just fallen off your shoulders.
It wouldn’t be the first time Sakura caught you asleep at your workstation and made sure you were comfortable, so you thought little of it as you stood to get coffee. As soon as you stood, you stretched, letting out a soft grunt in satisfaction before making your way to the coffee machine. Starting the brewing process was something you could do—and had done in the past—with your eyes closed, so it wasn’t until you turned around to grab a mug that you noticed your visitor.
“Shit!” you fumbled with the mug until it landed on the floor. Seems like shatter-proof mugs were a good investment after all, you thought while glaring at the source of your surprise. Kalpas sat on the couch you had shoved in the corner of the room—and promptly forgotten about—with his arms crossed and you could only assume he glared back. Now Timothy’s ‘why are you here,’ comment made sense; had he just sat there waiting for you to wake up?
The silence that filled the room suddenly felt suffocating, and you decided you were not awake enough to deal with this, so you turned back to your lovely coffee maker and refused to acknowledge the weird man in the corner of your shop.
Once the coffee was made to your tastes, and you’d had your first sip, you spoke. “Your suit is in the first cabinet on the left. You can change in the supply closet to the left of that. I’ll uh…wait here.” With that, you walked yourself and your coffee over to a nearby table and sat crisscross applesauce while you waited.
“Hey,” you nearly dropped your mug again. “How do you work these things?” Slowly you turned towards Kalpas, praying he wasn’t standing there naked (you had a lot of bad experiences working with new recruits who didn’t know how battlesuits worked).
Thankfully he wasn’t, and you realized he just needed help with the shoulder guards. Standing, you crossed the room to where Kalpas was waiting and set your coffee on a nearby table.
“You should watch so you can do it yourself in the future,” you spoke, staring directly at his chest, refusing to make eye contact.
Right now, the spiked shoulder guard actually sat on his shoulder, meaning you had to lift it off to show him the hidden button that activated the super-magnets. After pointing that out, you placed the piece back on his shoulder and pressed the button. You gave him a once over to see if everything was in place before taking a step back, realizing how close the two of you were.
Kalpas was looking at his fist as he curled and uncurled his fingers a few times, listening to the leather-like creak. “Good,” he finally declared, and started to make his way out of your shop.
“Uh! Wait a second,” you frantically grabbed your datapad and started after Kalpas who stopped just in front of the door. “I need to run some tests and make sure everything works properly.”
“I know,” he rumbled out while staring you down.
“So I need you to stay here for a minute while I run those tests,” you explained, a little exasperated.
“You want me to set your lab on fire?” Just the thought made your nose scrunch up, and you couldn’t be sure if he was laughing at your face, or the idea of burning your workshop to the ground.
“Let me grab some things and then we can go to the training room,” you said, already on your way to grab what you need. “I have to monitor individual areas of the suit, so there’s three patches this time,” you pulled the thermal monitors form a drawer and turned back to Kalpas to hand them over. “One on your chest again, one under the shoulder armor to keep an eye on the magnets, and one on your thigh.”
Finished gathering all that you would need, you turned to see Kalpas looking at you expectantly. “You can put them on when we get there if you prefer,” you offered, a little confused as to what he wanted.
“Aren’t you putting them on?” His question was more of a threat, but you were used to it by now.
“No?”
Of course, this led to another staring contest, though this one didn’t last very long before you sighed and took the patches out of his hand.
“You are a child,” you grumbled under your breath while trying not to think about your hand on his thigh. When you got to the chest patch you put it on a little more aggressively than was necessary, though Kalpas only chuckled at your actions. With that done, you locked up your shop and headed to the training grounds.
1071 words Oh 100% saying "crisscross applesauce" distracts from the story, but this is the absolute best way to describe it and YES I will die on this hill. Sorry it's another shorter chapter, the next one is back to 1500

Teardrops on Fire
Synopsis:
Steve Rogers is the last Alpha of the an almost extinct Lycan pack. With only less than 100 members left. Steve must produce an heir to ensure the species survival and reduce the chance of attacks from others. Omegas are rare, and betas have a hard time producing children. Steves reality is finally setting in as his obligation of producing an heir faces a major set back.
Reader is the last suitable omega to mate with Steve, due to the fear of her daughters fate in the pack, her mother kept her hidden from the pack after her own exile. Only her mother, and Bucky's family know of her existence. Bucky is Steve's right hand man, and the packs best warrior! He and the reader developed a friendship and bond over the years, but age forced them to become distant.
What happens when she presents and her first heat cycle comes? Her body is in excruciating pain and a strong fever quickly overcomes her body. Facing the fear of her daughters possible death, her mom calls on the only person who can save her at this point, Alpha Steve! Bucky and the alphas friendship will be tested. The reader will be faced with her love for Bucky or her duty to the pack.
Chapter warnings : descriptions of death, abuse, blood, and mentions of miscarriage.
Chapter 2: Honey I tried
“When did it start?” Bucky was holding on to the edge of his kitchen table. He felt nauseated with the thought of her, sick and yearning, He couldn't even picture what she had grown up to look like, A part of him was scared of his own emotions.
“It hasn’t yet!”
“ At least not as of this morning.” her mother was breaking apart! Bucky could tell she was very scared and exhausted! He knew that her daughter's well being must've weighed heavily on her, he could see the physical manifestation of her pain. In just a few hours her nails had been bit to the core, and her tears streaks had left vivid and raw tracks around her cheeks.
“Buck! I know this is a lot to ask, but you have to tell Steve! Were worried she wouldn't make it otherwise. This will be her first heat”
He’d almost forgotten his mothers presence in the room, cause he turned around and met her eyes, tears streaming down her face. She'd grown fond of her friend's daughter over the years. After her own kids had left to form their own lives, she could still go to her and relive some memories of her little ones' younger days.
“I know! I'm still wrapping my head around it, but I know what I have to do” agitation surrounded his voice. He didn't know when his heart started to feel like it wanted to jump out of his chest or when he gripped the glass of water that was left on the table so hard it shattered, but it was evident that he wasn't going to be getting any rest that day.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Bucky parked his pickup in front of Steve's house. It was the largest house in the village, it wasn't Steve's choice, but he'd inherited it from his father, and his father had inherited it from his father before him. Being the house farthest away from the city limits, but right in the middle of the village meant Steve was protected, but could also be easily accessed.
Looking back at his passenger seat he saw Winnifred with her mom cradled upon her shoulder, comforting her best friend through the probably the second hardest day of her life.
“You should stay here Ma, I'll go get Steve” I know he’ll be happy to see you, but I still don't know how he'll react to her'' He opened his tool box on the bed of his truck and pulled out a large fleece blanket. Neatly folded he handed it over to his mother.
“Just keep her company till I come back”
The lights in Steve's house were on, but Buck could hear the sound of wood being shopped and Steve's grunts coming from the back of the property. As he reached his best friend's view, he took a deep breath. It was all gonna be different now, for all of them.
Steve had a large pair of headphones in, and was clearly a few songs deep into his playlist because when Bucky came around the corner; Steve almost lost a hold of the axe he was holding! Lookin at Buck he lowered his bulky headphones and stabbed the axe to the soft moody ground next to the small uncut piece of wood he was about to turn into lumber.
Steve's hair was not as long as Bucky's, and he had taken a liking to a neatly kept beard.
He grew it out as a joke at first! Clint dared him to grow it for a month, and after a month he'd grown fond of the style.So for the past year now, Steve looked less like a young soldier, and more like those lumberjacks from the cheesy romance novel covers his sister Rebecca loved to read.
“Hey Buck, didn't expect you around so late” Steve combed his hair back with his fingers. A nervous habit Bucky had noticed since childhood, especially when he had a lot on his mind.
“Couldn't sleep?”
Bucky was concerned for his friend, momentarily forgetting the reason for his sudden visit.
“ Banner called! Wanda was there earlier today, she wasn't feeling well. Turns out she was pregnant, and didn't know it!
“Steves that's awesome, when is she due ? we need to celebra…” as he looked into his best friend's eyes he saw the pain behind his look.
“She was miscarrying at the same time she found out she was pregnant, Buck. That's the third pup we've lost this year.I don't know how we're gonna get through this, It's getting harder and harder to keep everyone safe, and pretend we're not gonna be extinct in 50 years”
“Steve…” Steve's gaze was filled with a mixture of tears and rage. He took everyone's pain personally. And hearing about Wanda had awoken an unease within his soul. He couldn't fight the problem! How could a man used to protecting and fighting, deal with a problem that didn't require a fight?
“There’s an omega! She presented this morning!
“Who is she?”
“Remember Katerina? She … uhh … after she was exiled from the pack, she had a daughter!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 20 years ago
“We can't just let him die! We have to take him outside the walls! Someone out there can help him”
Joseph was the second in command to Benjamin Rogers. Two of the strongest alphas the entire western district had ever known. Both feared together, but explosive apart.
Benjamin had fathered a son 7 years earlier, a frail boy. He was often sickly and his future wasn’t promised! He wasn't meant to live much longer, the boy had once again woken up sick. A high fever overcoming his small body.
Benjamin had changed after his wife's death, he blamed the boy for Sarah’s death. A man that was once kind, and dedicated to his family, now lived like a wandering dark shadow inflicting cruelty against anyone that disagreed and crossed his path. His pack was strong! But there was no harmony, only fear.
Sarah had been a beautiful alpha as well as Benjamin. She had a hard time carrying Steve to term, at 7 months she fell bedridden and two weeks later, she had a seizure that compromised her pregnancy. Benjamin himself had to cut the boy out of his dying wife. That choice, as his wife laid there lifeless , covered in blood, and cut open like an animal awoke a demon in Benjamin. He saw death in his son's eyes, that is why he could never love him. He could never care!
Katerina took care of his young baby like her own, she had struggled to have a baby of her own so when Joseph came home holding a still bloody wailing baby, she fell madly in love with the small bundle in his arms.
The boy was small, but smart! He picked up words as young as a few months, and as a toddler he was incredibly gifted. Steve excelled in art, and even knees bit of music. Katerina loved to sit down and play piano! A young Steve would lean into her side and follow suit to her fingers on the side of the pano with his small hands. Joseph and Katerina watched him grow up, and took care of him.
Steve got sick often, but nothing too serious!
One day as she prepared breakfast she had a feeling of dread on the pit of her stomach, she ran upstairs to check on Steve and found him comatose on the bed!she wailed as she held her adopted infant son to her chest. Joseph came running to her after hearing her screams. He picked up the boy from her hands and loaded him into the car, with Katerina at his side he headed to Benjamin's house.
That was the first time Benjamin had seen his son since his wife died, his son himself nearly dead!
"Please Ben! He needs help! There's another pack two hours away, they have a doctor that can help him. She can heal him for good, please open up the walls so we can go to her! They both pleaded with Ben for hours, but to no avail!
The man was already covered in anger and reeking of alcohol, “Don't you dare challenge your alpha Joe! If I find out you defied me and left this territory you will never be allowed back”
Katerina couldn't let her boy die! With that warning in heart, she and her husband plotted to get little Stevie outside the pack territory, and to that doctor.
Behind Ben’s back, and knowing the consequences in his heart Joe called the Alpha from the neighboring pack, the other alpha had the resources ready for them to arrive in the morning. His doctor, a witch, was ready to give little Steve the life he deserved.
In the early morning of the night they sped their way through the woods. Once they reached the border a car awaited Rina, a beta from the fury pack was ready to take them to their pack.
Ben had closed the pack off to treaties when his wife died, he believed the world was dangerous and the pack was better off without interruptions, he couldn't even save his wife! His pack did not deserve to be mercied, they didn't deserve to live if she couldn't. So Ben slowly watched his pack become secluded and lost.
In the morning Ben, even drunker than the night before, had shown up at Joe's doorstep demanding to see the boy. Fully convinced he'd be dead by now, when Joe failed to produce an explanation as to why his wife was gone and so was Steve.
Ben lost it!
He called a pack meeting on which he publicly executed Joe, whether it was a display of power or just pure psychopathic joy. Joe’s death left the town broken, when Katerina came back with a healed Steve, she found herself widowed and exiled.
As a last sick jab into Joe’s heart even after his death, Ben took Steve!
As the years went by Steve forgot his early years, he forgot Joe and Katerina!
Steve remembered stories of his betrayal, her exile! How their actions forever changed a pack. He grew up kind, giving, and strong! Even if Steve didn't experience or know much love from his father, he was full of it!
And thanks to that witch both Katerina’s little growing heartbeat and Steve were stronger than ever!

I made Marcel everything that he is.
I treated him like a son.
And when my father chased me and my family from New-Orleans a hundred years ago we believed Marcel was killed.
We each mourned him in our own way.
Yet, when I returned, I found not only had he survived… he had thrived.
Instead of seeking us out, instead of sticking together as one, he made a choice, to take everything my family had built and make it his own.
Now he is living in our home.
He is sleeping in our beds.
The letter ‘M’ he stamps everywhere… it’s not for Marcel.
It’s for Mikaelson.
I want it all back.
And if I have to push him out to get it, then that’s exactly what I’ll do.
***
Mackenzie’s giggles filled the room. “Stop it,” she kept repeating, but she didn’t mean it, and he knew that. They had started new games together, some even new to Elijah, as if Mackenzie was his muse inspiring him dirty little games he’d only play with her. It was innocent, at first, but soon, Mackenzie became more comfortable with him, more confident, and the stains of blood on the white bed sheets were so common now the compelled staff knew to change them almost every day. The implications of their activities only made them want each other more. Mackenzie, because she knew the effect her blood had on him, and Elijah, because he would never experience anything like this with anyone else other than her. Sure, he knew he would never love anyone the way he loved Mackenzie, but it wasn’t just about love. And that was something that made Mackenzie feel powerful. That was the reason why, sometimes, she refused to take his blood after they were done. So that she’d keep the marks. So that he knew they were there. His marks on her body. Claiming her. And she loved the way it made him feel when he saw them too.
While Mackenzie and Elijah were enjoying what both Katherine and Rebekah had called their ‘honeymoon period’, Hayley wished for death. Well, maybe not literally. But she did pretty much hate her life, and she didn’t have faith that it would get better in the next eighteen years. She was uncomfortable in every way. Not only was she pregnant with the world’s most hated supernatural creature, but her future baby’s father also was a total psychopath who didn’t see her as anything more than an incubator for his miracle baby. He had forbidden her from leaving the house where he left her to rot every day. Every day, she was left with a couple acting not unlike two hormonal teenagers around the house, in other words, alone, alone with dusty books she had no intention of reading, and a TV remote giving her access to hundreds of channels she wasn’t interested in watching at all. In other words, days passed and stayed the same, aside from the rising heat, and growing belly.
To make matters worse, when Elijah wasn’t busy eating his girlfriend (in every sense of the word), he turned into an over-protective grandpa, building the nursery from scratch, making sure she had vitamin, protein, everything a pregnant woman needs according to What To Expect When You’re Expecting, which she wouldn’t be surprised to find on his nightstand. Not only did it make her uncomfortable, and even more irritable, but it made Mackenzie self-conscious and sad, not matter how hard she was trying to hide it.
At first, Hayley thought it was jealousy. But Mackenzie was better than that. And she had no bad intentions towards Hayley, or feelings, on the contrary. After they had made sure Marcel’s secret weapon, whatever it was, could not detect Mackenzie’s powers, they had unlinked Hayley to Sophie, making the witches regret their whole plan to bring the Originals back in town, giving them enormous doubts about whether they would still go on with the plan to dethrone Marcel or not. Of course, Klaus was a threat to them now, after all they had done. Kidnapping Hayley, using his child to blackmail him… The witches were scared, and now, they had bigger problems than Marcel, and the witch community of New-Orleans was starting to turn against Sophie, who had insisted her sister’s plan would work. But Klaus didn’t attack the witches. No, Klaus was still in a suspiciously good mood. Aside from keeping Hayley locked up in the house, he was pleasant with his brother, he was pleasant with Mackenzie, and he was pleasant with Hayley, to whom his nickname little wolf had stuck. He wasn’t acting like a future father, by any means. He didn’t check on Hayley’s health, never asked how she felt or if she needed anything. He didn’t spend any time in the nursery, helping Elijah, or didn’t even talk baby names with his future baby’s mother, not that anyone had expected that from him. No. Klaus spent all his time with Marcel, and they were seemingly getting along great, greater than great, in fact, as if they were the best of friends who weren’t hiding deadly secrets from each other.
Hayley had started to worry about his behavior. What if he really enjoyed spending time with Marcel? What if he just wanted to get back at the witches? What if he didn’t care? What if… all the bad things Klaus could do, that she could think of, or even scarier, that she couldn’t even imagine. However, her worries were put to rest one day, as Klaus came back home one night with a newly made vampire named Josh.
“Josh here,” he had told them, “will be my eyes and ears. My joker, my…”
“Yeah, yeah, we get it,” Hayley had interrupted him. “He’s your spy.”
Klaus had gotten to Josh before Marcel even had the chance to put him under vervain. The vampire was compelled thoroughly by the Original hybrid and will be the key to taking Marcel down.
Though the existence of Josh was a relief for everyone, neither his brother nor his girlfriend trusted him in any way. Not when he was in such a good mood. He was plotting something, and they had a feeling it was nothing good, for anyone.
***
Mackenzie caressed Elijah’s hair, her thoughts wandering back to earlier that day, when he had taken her to one of his favorite places in New-Orleans, a once peaceful beautiful park that was now a crowded and loud playground. She sighed, moving slightly but enough for Elijah to let a drop of blood slide down on Mackenzie’s neck. It drew a red line on her slightly tanned skin and the drop came to rest down her cleavage. She ignored it, she knew he’d take care of it later. Though the maids would have to change the sheets again in the morning.
She had almost forgotten his mouth buried in her neck, his free hand moving up and down her arm, as they were lying naked in their bed, resting from their long day of exploring the city Elijah had missed so much for the past century. He drank from her, her blood, the most delicious in the entire world, like she was the Fountain of Youth herself and he was the only one who got to drink from her, the only one who had that privilege, because he was the one who had discovered her. He had been there first, explored and found her and now she was his and only his and that thought would never cease to amaze him, to make him feel like the luckiest man in the world. But right now, Mackenzie felt everything but lucky, as she was haunted by a picture that would not leave her mind. A picture of his face in that park. And the look that said it all, even though he would never say it aloud, perhaps because he didn’t know it himself. A look she knew well now as it kept coming back, every time he looked at Hayley, every time he talked about the baby, about what Klaus should be doing but wasn’t, about everything he was doing in his brother’s place. It saddened him, perhaps unknowingly, and it saddened her as she knew she could never give that to him. In truth, no one could give that to him. But as powerful as she was, she felt she should be able to do anything, and everything she could do, but that.
He was content, lying in her arms, her hand in his hair, her blood in his throat, just enjoying the moment, enjoying her. But that was not the only reason why the question took him by surprise.
“Do you want kids?”
He froze, puzzled by the question. It surprised him, not only because it seemingly came out of nowhere, but mostly because he had buried that question and that answer a long time ago deep inside of him. So deep, in fact, that it was a hidden part of him, like an obvious take away of his very existence, of every single one of his actions. So deep, that the answer was practically engraved on his bones, carved onto his heart, like an invisible dormant pain that he would never let himself feel or remember. An immortal curse that could not be enchanted away and that will torment him for the rest of his eternity. Why that question? Why here, why now?
He slowly and gently retracted his teeth from her vein, licked the blood that escaped from the wound, though he knew he wouldn’t be able to stop it from bleeding as he moved away and looked up at her. She had asked the question so quietly, like a whisper, like a spell echoing in his head, losing itself in time, making his bones quiver like an earthquake would make a house shake. That question had been asked and answered centuries ago. That choice had been made for him centuries ago. That choice had been taken away from him centuries ago.
She was looking away but turned towards him as he sat up and pulled the duvet to cover them. Not because they were cold, but because the time for their adult activities was obviously over. Now, they had to have another kind of adult conversation.
“I can’t have children, you know that.”
“That’s not what I asked.”
“Mackenzie…”
“Do you? Want children of your own?”
“It doesn’t matter if I do. I can’t.”
“I know you do,” she said quietly, once again looking away, staring at that spot that didn’t exist.
“Where is this coming from?”
She shrugged. “Same place your regret is coming from…”
“I have no regret,” he replied, confused.
“You regret not being able to have children.”
“That is hardly anyone’s fault but my parents, and they are dead. There is no one to blame, though blame wouldn’t lead us anywhere.”
Her hand found his arm and her fingers caressed his skin as if touching him would fix everything.
“Why do you ask?”
“I don’t know… I just thought… it’s unfair Klaus gets to have a child and you don’t. He clearly has no interest in it. But you do.”
“My interest in Hayley’s pregnancy doesn’t go beyond anything an uncle wouldn’t do. Though, I am no ordinary uncle.”
“This is no ordinary family.”
“And that is why your question has no answer, my love.”
She looked back at him. He rarely used such words in front of other people, but when they were alone, when they were being intimate, he called her all sorts of sweet words. ‘My love’ being the sweetest. ‘My love’ was the answer. It meant ‘don’t ask’, ‘it’s okay’, ‘I get it’, ‘I love you too’.

Klaus’ face tired of his never-ending smiling. However, he was motivated. Nothing would stop him from reaching his goal. Nothing ever could. And certainly not a stupid smile.
He couldn’t tell which was louder, the screams or the music, however, he had stopped caring. He was tired and annoyed, and he wanted to leave this wretched court of amateurs as soon as possible. Marcel called himself a King and had forged himself a throne, but he was just some tyrant wannabe, a little boy in a paper crown running around with his friends, bullying the weakest kids on the playground. Though he would never reproach Marcel from banishing the werewolves from the Quarter or stopping the witches from doing magic, everything that had allowed him to get to that point he had stolen from him, and that fact was like wood to a fireplace, it kept his immortal rage burning.
Perch on the balcony above the party, Klaus and Marcel stood like Kings in a court of horrors, watching their nobles feast on the buffet. Though Klaus was too old to enjoy such an obvious and basic vampire party, he had to give Marcel a nod of approval every once in a while, to keep things civil. He was bored out of his mind and had run out of things to talk about with his ‘friend’. Fortunately, Marcel had a surprise for his sire.
“I’m hosting a party.”
“Yes, you are,” the hybrid nodded, making the vampire laugh.
“No. I mean, I’m planning a party, in two days. It’s a charity dinner for some… I don’t know, charitable organization for the city.”
“I didn’t take you for the charitable type,” Klaus teased.
“Well, I got a reputation to uphold,” he replied with an amused smile. “It’s mostly an excuse to see Camille again, though.”
“Who? Ah, the bartender.”
“Yeah, the bartender,” he chuckled. “It’s a fancy dinner, just your brother’s type of things.”
“You’re inviting Elijah?” Klaus raised an eyebrow, surprised Marcel would want to be anywhere near his brother.
“Right, and his witch girlfriend, you know, what’s her name…”
“Mackenzie.”
“That’s right. She’s a funny little thing,” he said as he smiled at his sire accusatorily. “She’s not afraid of you.”
“Ah, she’s been through a lot.”
“Do you mean you?”
They laughed.
“I admit, I may have been less than cordial to her… more than once.”
“It’s a miracle Elijah lets you go anywhere near her.”
Klaus knew what Marcel was doing, where this was going. He had been working at it slowly, but not as subtly, for a while now. Marcel wanted Elijah gone, out of his city, no matter how, no matter what it took. He figured Klaus was his best shot, and usually he would have been correct, but not now, not anymore. If anything happened to Elijah, Mackenzie would destroy the whole city, hell, the entire state. No, Klaus had one goal, and he wasn’t going to let Marcel distract him from it.
“It’s different with her. If I kill her, he’ll stop at nothing to take me down, and I’ve tired of our little wars. The last one lasted a century and almost killed me.”
“Ah, let him have his fun. She’s mortal, they’re fleeting little things.”
Klaus chuckled, though not because he found the obvious threat funny, but the mere thought of Marcel going after Mackenzie made him want to laugh. He’d pay to see it, if only it wouldn’t result in Marcel’s certain death.
“Not this one. This one is here to stay.”
Marcel frowned and looked at the hybrid with curiosity. “You actually mean that.”
“She’s a Mikaelson, Marcel,” he nodded as he put his hand on the King’s shoulder. “You know what happens when you go after a Mikaelson.”
Marcel laughed. “Hey, I’m just talking, no harm meant, no harm meant.”
“She’d kill you before you even had a chance to see it coming.”
“See, that’s my problem,” Marcel grimaced. “Witches aren’t allowed to do magic here, and I don’t think she’s understood that.”
“What? Your secret weapon’s been shining bright recently?”
Marcel laughed as he shook his head. “No, nothing like that. It’s the attitude, Klaus. Elijah… he doesn’t respect my authority here. And neither does she.”
“Then why invite them, then? They’re happy enough on their own. Trust me, they’re unbearable to be around right now. They’re so… in love,” he said, disgust visible all over his face, making Marcel laugh whole-heartedly.
“You were never one for sentiment.”
“Right then,” Klaus sighed. “I’ll let them know.”
“I appreciate that, brother.”
Marcel tapped him twice on the shoulder before he moved towards the middle of the balcony, where he’d be best seen from downstairs, to make his usual speech. The words never changed. “Have fun”, “don’t kill too many of them”, and last but not least:
“And no matter what you do, no matter how good she smells or how pretty she looks, leave the barefoot blonde alone!”
That last part they all said together like a chant, like it was a joke. But when Marcel explained the meaning to Klaus the first night, he learnt he wasn’t joking in the least. He had puzzled out all the tiny bits of information Marcel could give him, and the hybrid knew it was no joke indeed.

honor him. | chapter 7 - new hope
a day before your mission, you pay the little girl a visit.
The longer you spent roaming the cold and ruthless streets of Dunwall, the more you found yourself longing for the relaxing ease and seeping warmth of your hometown.
The contaminated waters of the Wrenhaven River, squirming with countless hagfish eager to bite, along with the fair share of river krusts finding their nests below docks could simply not compare to the vast, shiny ocean at the Edge of the World.
It had been a long, long time since you sailed from the city that smelled of fresh fish and exotic spices, to a city of corruption and bloody money, trusting a killer-for-hire to keep you company. Yet, as you boarded the smuggler's ship from the dockyards all those years ago, you did not dare look back to the gardens you used to run in, the beautiful Conservatory you used to marvel at, nor the unforgiving cobblestone streets you had been thrown onto.
Leaving Karnaca behind had been an ache in your sore heart for the years that followed - you had been a foreigner in a world of nobles and pure Gristol-born lineages, while your heart beat to the gentle rhythm of Serkonan mandolins.
With all the flaws it possessed, all the rats that hid in every corner of the paved streets and all the stuck-up rich aristocrats it housed - the cursed city of Dunwall had become close to a second home to you.
It had to, sooner or later, after having you roam through every gritty corner of it with a blade in your hand. Trouble could find you at any given time of the day, every step of the way yet there was this certain excitement of sneaking around that said trouble and feeling clever about it - making your way across chimneys and rooftops, jumping from balconies and ledges alike, finding shortcuts through noble homes without even alerting a soul of your shadowy presence. It enthralled you, gave you a sense of purpose, with the additional strength your gifted power running through your veins donned you.
Before, you had fought to survive.
To see another day, living on the run, sleeping near dumpsters and moth-eaten mattresses that someone had thrown out. Breaking and entering the vast, breeze-filled apartments of the Aventa district, overlooking the endless ocean that the Jewel of the South had to offer - apartments that once you resided in before fate loomed upon you. Picking up fights with stray Guards in back alleys just so you could loot some coin off of them in the aftermath. How sure you had been that you would win the duels that you initiated recklessly. And win you did, most of them to say the least.
It still ran shivers of sheer disappointment down your spine when images of that one duel you had lost flooded into your mind, blade crossing blade as amber eyes locked into yours.
They were all in the past now, fragments of memories soaring in the Void, visiting you with their reminding thorns at night. Times long gone, yet never forgotten. In the aftermath of endless winds of change over the years spent running and cutting, killing had become merely a job to you - they were contracts to execute, after all, signed by your Master to whom you had pledged allegiance. That was what you had taught yourself. Going out on missions and finishing off targets meant you and your friend’s pouches would be full. It was an attuned trait among assassins to let all thought and emotion slide, and just focus on the task that could cost them way more than the distaste of emotion.
Lately, you had found out that you could only suppress those emotions for so long. Guilt and buried feelings found their way to resurface, to re-capture that essence of humanity left in your trained body and soul. A constant hollow surrounding your being - and there was only one thing that could fill the void.
In front of you, the famous round glass rooftops of the Golden Cat loomed tall, the pretty architecture of the building undeniable amid the inhabited, unkempt apartments that surrounded the bathhouse. Little rays of light gleamed in mesmerizing reflections, a welcome mix of purple, blue and gray in a world of browns and crimson reds. The supposedly finest establishment of the Isles that housed an heiress, whom you longed to help with all that you had to give.
The moment you found out that the young Lady was kept captive at a renown bathhouse, which had been the fancier word for brothel that nobles loved to use - your blood had gone cold. In the harsh reality across the Isles, it was a known necessity that many children matured early on, learning to steal as a means of providing and wielding a blade as early on as their little hands could hold onto it.
No children was supposed to see the horrors of the world. Pure and innocent souls, they were supposed to laugh, tell stories and draw about the creatures of the endless ocean - leave the ugliness and sadness over to the older. To grow up showered wit love and care and all the attention, not with their mother’s crimson blood.
Even if it meant sacrificing your own blood and bone, you were going to make sure another child did not have to see what you had seen - long as you had the power to change things, you swore to yourself that you would.
She was the future of an Empire, a promising leak of bright sunshine through rocks, the sole rightful heiress among a litany of unqualified tyrannical weasels. The only hope for the continuation of the shortened Kaldwin reign, whose rulers longed for the welfare of their beloved citizens - thrown onto a dirty road that she did not deserve to be on.
Whatever that was left of your heart ached for sweet Emily who had lost everything that made up her life, left with no one there to protect, to guide her throughout. It stung a sharp pain through you, merely thinking about the horrors she had to witness down in the Cat.
By the Outsider, if you saw the slightest trace of harm on the little girl, you were prepared to spill the blood of the entire cursed building.
That little part of your soul which had some sort of faith thanked the soaring leviathan that one of the courtesans had owed you a favor - indebted to you after you had saved her sister from the dirty hands of a corrupt, disgusting bastard in some back alley near the distillery, a long time ago. The very few good deeds you had done over the years of being a paid assassin seemed to be helping you back out when you needed it the most - and there you stood, after a series of sneaky transversals and climbing, right across the VIP entrance, with the door conveniently left unlocked in anticipation of your arrival. She really did live up to the task - the mere thought of her risking months of missed pay, especially under the infamous new Madame, putting a soft smile of gratitude on your features.
It felt good to know that the Empire still had people who were loyal to their word - unlike you, who had purposefully failed a contract you had been paid to execute. Knowing your true loyalty laid with Daud and the Empire he operated under, provided little to no solace from your constant self-criticism and state of guilt.
Closing the metal door behind your step with the faintest of clicks, your hands would hastily peel off your mask only for it to be hung low on your belt - the last thing you needed when you visited the little Lady was for her to see another one of those masked figures who kidnapped her, who fought and attacked her Protector. All you wanted to do, with every fiber of your being right there and then, was to ease her suffering at least a little bit, not increase it.
Sneaking came easy to you. Hidden in the shadows cast upon the crumbling magenta wallpapers of the establishment, you would make your way towards the wooden set of stairs out in the back, the stench of sin mixed with cheap perfume lingering around with each step. Ascending yourself to the crevices close to the rounded ceilings to navigate, the moans and feminine laughs echoed off of the thick curtains and the wooden panels of various rooms scattered around the pleasure house.
It was not often you came around to the Cat - occasionally there would be some loyal client with a bounty on his head that you had come to claim, so you had a pretty decent idea of the layout. The curtains though, those had been new additions that were saving your bottom from getting spotted as you kept on executing your transversals with accustomed ease. Courtesans, dressed in skirts and bustiers that left nothing to modesty roamed the halls, often with a cigarette in their nimble hands. Most of them had been thrown on this path without having any other choice - in a way, you sympathized and understood, could only fathom the trauma they had been put through by the revolting guards of the City Watch and aristocrats like.
Speaking of aristocrats, you had half a mind to find those sniveling Pendleton bastards first, who were no doubt violating yet more poor women, and dirty your blade with their disloyal blood. Nothing would please you more at that moment than to inflict the same pain they have caused on the little child.
Yet, you had to be patient. There would come a time to take them out, sooner rather than later hopefully, and only then, you would take pleasure in getting rid of those gutless men. For now, you had a future Empress to see.
Leaning over the far wall you had dropped down near, the lined doors across the empty hallway was a surprising yet welcome sight. Powers granted to you by your Arcane Bond enabled you to spot living forms through your gaze - one that came in very handy as you spotted the gleaming yellow silhouette of a small child. Deep within, you knew your Master could sense whenever powers originating from his mark were used, and it created a twinge of guilt in you - secretly running off of base to conduct missions of your own, but all guilt was erased momentarily as you opened the door with a slight creak and came across her.
The future Empress of the Isles, ruler of the four countries with dire troubles, destined to govern over millions of citizens - and she was sitting cross-legged with her back to you on the hardwood, painting with colorful crayons that shed some rainbow into this dark place. The white bow decorating her brown locks, her finely-tailored white garments still her only choice of clothing. Just like how you had last seen her, yet so very different.
Noticing the creak of the door, Lady Emily turned to face you, her golden brown eyes widening as she spotted your unfamiliar figure. In a matter of seconds that had passed approaching her, you did not even realize you had been holding your breath ever since you stepped in - letting it out slowly, your fingers pushed the door to a close. A warm, harmless expression on your face as you lifted a gentle hand, indicating you meant no maim.
The little girl's expression changed into a slight look of fear and confusion, eyes darting over to the door in a means of escaping.
"Who are you?" her voice would give out, laced with some sort of intrigue mixed with her initial fear.
To that, you would raise both of your hands, and very lightly, bow your head in a swift motion of respect. Your loyalty to the Empire and the rightful reign had been something newfound - all your life, you had longed for something to stay loyal to, whether it was a man or a cause. This time, it had been the girl right in front of you and what she stood for.
"I mean no harm. I - " you would stutter, orbs widening only slightly as you pondered an answer to that question. That simple yet weighted question sparked storms in your mind, sending waves of guilt to tremble your heart in its place. What could you tell her? The truth - that you were nothing short of a reckless killer who had been right there when her mother's blood was spilled? Who could only watch but not do anything to save her, to save the Empire? Whose actions, albeit indirectly, condemned her Protector to prison and death?
"I am a friend to the Lord Protector."
Now, among all lies you had told in your lifetime of stealing and killing, this one had to be the most desperate.
"Oh," the little Empress would say, the apprehension on her features lessening yet she took another step back. Smart girl. She had been taught well, not to trust strangers who donned the very same crimson uniform that had taken her mother away from her.
Sensing your taller stance was scaring her more than to it gave her comfort, you would crouch down to her level slowly, daring to take a little step forward as a gentle smile spread your lips. Gloved fingers reached your pouch with slow movements, intending not to scare her, taking out the silver-encrusted wooden cameo.
"Lady Emily," your voice gave out, softer than anyone in the Empire had heard you speak. "Forgive me for scaring you. You don't know me, but all I wanted to do was to give you this." As the words dripped out of your parted lips, your hand would extend the artifact towards the little figure, as if crossing the invisible chasm with the pull of her mother's silver-modeled face. Something inside you broke as you watched the Lady, take tentative steps towards you as her eyes fixated on the cameo only, and you could swear you saw her eyes glisten for a second. Her hands would reach out and clasp onto the cameo representing her lineage, candlelight reflecting off of the both of you as she held it to her heart.
"Thank you," you would hear her say in her sweet voice, words lowly spoken, her lips curling up ever-so-slightly in a ghost of a smile of appreciation.
The remorse on your delicate face coupled with an unknown emotion seeping through your being, you would nod softly, returning her faith smile. You would realize, only there and then, that if bringing Corvo out of prison was the last thing you would do on the wretched Earth, you would gladly die if it meant for this little girl to be happy. You had been involved in a plot that took everything from her, everything and everyone she held dear - the debts of the guilt would never wash off completely, but if the road led to putting her back on the throne with her Royal Protector guiding her, it was worth taking.
"Everything will be alright, Empress. I promise you."
The whispered sweet nothing echoed as she watched you leave with a gaze full of confusion and sadness, hearing the door click yet once more only for her to be left alone with her memories that were much too dark for a child her age.
It was the ache in your heart and your old soul that prayed to the eyeless god, prayed that you could succeed in your suicide mission - only to see her smile.

Holds you at gunpoint. Every question for Jupiter. (you can skip some if you want-)
i love you, you motherfucker 🔫
1. what is your character's relationship to the traveler?
jupiter is aether’s and lumine’s big sibling, so they all get along very well. i like to think aether and lumine are way more brash and “act before you think” kind of people, while jupiter usually is the one who takes lead (both because of the big sib energy and because they are way more analytical). that being said, jupiter is aware that the twins are very much capable of surviving on their own and fighting if there is any need for that, which is why even after losing touch with them in tevyat they know that the twins will manage somehow, they just need to find them
2. is your character proud of, ashamed of, or indifferent to their feelings towards members of a certain gender?
i’d like to think that the species/society the trio comes from doesnt give a fuck about gender and sexuality so jupiter would never feel ashamed or upset about their feelings towards specific genders. i dont think they would rlly label themself but they are definitely not straight. as to having feelings towards others: they are usually straight forward in their approach
3. what is your character's relationship with themselves?
jupiter knows their purpose and objective very well, but that often clouds their true desires. i like to think that they havent really been thinking for themself up until they were stranded in tevyat and had to rely on themself. they came to realize their own opinions and perspectives that they carry with themself everywhere they go. tho, their views are rather flexible, because they are very much willing to learn if an oppoturnity arises. that being said, they dont quite know themself well just yet, they are still learning after all
4. what is their favorite region? why?
with how much of the game is available rn, liyue is definitely their favorite so far. it’s culture is incredibly rich and full of fascinating stories and legends. i personally am looking forward to the release of sumeru, but what will come out of it is yet to be seen
5. what is their relationship with Zhongli? do they have one at all?
oh they very much do. while his charm and politeness are qualities that they very much enjoy, what originally drew them closer to him was his vast knowledge over liyue’s traditions and customs. at first during their stay at liyue harbor they would wait to catch him during his afternoon and evening strolls around the city to ask him things and carefully listen to everything he has to say. id like to think that zhongli appreciated having such an active listener and even a conversation partner at some point. eventually their little friendship grew into fondness for each other and they would seek each other’s company, until jupiter straight up confessed. id like to think their relationship is fairly innocent and very much founded on mutual respect and admiration. they both value honesty and communicate with each other rather well. and even though, zhongli hesitated before agreeing to travel with them, leaving liyue behind, he doesnt regret doing it
6. who is their love interest? If they do not have one, who is their closest friend?
while zhongli is both their love interest and their dear friend, venti is their first close friend. during the events of chapter I they both bonded. venti seemed like someone containing a vast amount of knowledge that jupiter was eager to discover. it quickly became apparent to them that the bard doesnt particularly like to talk about the past in detail, but venti still would surprise them with how much he knew about art and the culture surrounding it. they are both pretty light spirited so they always enjoyed each other’s company and their bond only grew stronger during their travels.
7. what do they think of Mona?
they are curious about and intrigued by her methods. they can also very much relate to her pursuit of lost/forgotten knowledge. they like to ask her about astrology and theorize with her, asking her to teach them little things for an exchange of a hot, homemade meal
8. what do they think of The Knights of Favonius?
their opinion on the knights is mixed. they can very much see that most of the people working for them are underqualified and not cut for the job or only doing it for the renown. while the idea of a city without a ruler is appealing, in practice the knights are the ones ruling over it and jupiter was left feeling sceptical when thinking about their methods and the possible future. they dont have anything against the individual people in the organization, but they do think their approach is highly flawed
9. wine is Mondstadt's most popular drink. do they drink wine?
while they do indulge in alcohol from time to time, they dont seem to be able to get drunk or even tipsy. they’ve concluded that since their body is built differently than a person of this world’s, its very probable that they dont react to certain foods and products the same way. alcohol is like any kind of a drink for them and many people are terrified when they see them consume it in large quantities
10. what do they think of Kaeya?
they like his playful nature and think he is a highly intelligent person, who doesnt show anyone what he is truly capable of. his methods, while very cunning, seem rather brash, which somehow reminds them of their siblings. while they are very much curious about his motives and history, they dare not to pray if it isnt welcomed. during their stay in mondstadt they would often times catch kaeya lurking in the tavern and spending time with the local gangs and bandits in order to extort information from them while drunk. in the rarer occasions where he would be alone, they would sometimes keep him company, filling the night with talks about nothing in particular
11. if they were forced to make the choice between killing their love interest/friend or killing themselves, what would they choose? why?
that very much depends on when that would happen. pre-separation with their siblings, they would very much operate on the hard logic of “whoever has more information/more important information should survive”. however after spending time in tevyat and meeting its people, jupiter learns to greatly value life and their inicial stance would change to a more selfless one. the more they get to know about the world the more they are willing to put their life on the line to preserve life in it, especially if its the life of someone they hold dear
12. what do they think of Childe? 16. is there a canon character your character hates? why?
at first they were open to the idea of being childe’s friend, however with time they started noticing that something was wrong with his overt friendliness. when he revealed his true intentions, jupiter was not surprised, but learning what he had chose to do made them absolutely despise him. staying in liyue has taught them a lot and made them care about the people living in this world. however childe seemed to have no disregard to them. they will not hesitate to fight him if their paths do cross again
13. do they carry a lot of Mora?
having a large amount of mora is basically a requirement when travelling with zhongli and venti. jupiter does take on a lot of jobs and comissions, though mora is mostly a secondary issue for them. they do find themself owning quite a lot of it at times until they overspend with their companions and are forced to rely on their survival skills in order to save up enough to get a roof over their heads
14. does your character side with Kaeya, Diluc or neither?
when it comes to the family feud: neither. jupiter doesnt like to pry into family matters and they understand both kaeya and diluc never talking about their issues with one another. while they cant imagine siblings behaving like that, due to their own experience, they dont feel like its their place to judge.
when it comes to the knights of the favonius: jupiter slightly leans more on diluc’s side, recognizing the many weaknesses of the organization as it is, however they both come from different places when critiquing it.
15. what do they think of Venti?
venti has become their best friend and they value him deeply. they worry about him sometimes, aware of the origin of his appearance and the history behind it. they like how venti seems to perceive life in a very poetic way and are fascinated by it. they get along very well and venti often fill their time during their travels by his songs, both known and not yet named
17. how did they acquire their vision?
they seem to be blessed with the same ability as their siblings when it comes to being granted powers without aquiring a vision themself
18. what is your character's weakness?
their curiosity and hunger for knowledge
19. what is their strength?
they utilize the knowledge they have gathered into things they can use to their advantage be it in battle or daily life
20. what is your character's theme song?
pure gold by half·alive
21. what weather do they love the most? why?
they love when its sunny. jupiter very much enjoys the feeling of sunlight on their skin
22. what do they think of Paimon?
jupiter would be Ecstatic to get to meet paimon. her vast knowledge in all matters would make her a valuable companion. in the current story they have no idea who she is as of now though
23. what do they think of the Fatui?
while they do not approve of the fatui’s methods, they cant help but think that something much deeper must be going on. jupiter wants to believe that the tsaritsa cant be simply evil and that perhaps she has some other, hidden motivation for her actions. having spent time with and got to know the fatui in liyue, they also know that not all of them are cartoonish bad guys
24. what do they think of the archons?
overall the concept of archons seems very new and intriguing to them. they do try to get as much information about their godhood out of venti and zhongli. they wonder whether this world really needs the archons as much as it claims to
25. what is the worst thing that could happen to your oc?
either losing their siblings or losing their memory (its a great fear of theirs)
26. what does your oc want the most?
their long term dream is to write down all the knowledge they’ve gathered so far and make it accessible and understandable to anyone willing to read it

Summary:
Kakashi makes the mistake of giving Sakura a well deserved holidays against her own will. Sakura doesn´t know what to do with her free time, and the Hokage is really interested in it. So an idea strikes him like lightning. They both decide to form a book club, One is going to read Icha Icha and the other one Pride and Prejudice. What will come of it?
Notes:
I don´t own Naruto, Pride and Prejudice, or nothing that I can refer to here; I´m just a sad loser
Chapter 1: A storm is coming
Kakashi was sitting at his office as he had been in the last few years. He was surrounded by scrolls, archives, books and papers, each with a little yellow post-it with three words repeated all over them like a mantra: 'Pending of revision.' Shikamaru was really trying himself to make the Hokage understand of the importance of reading all those documents. The hasty handwriting of the Nara Boy was all over the place trying to catch Kakashi's attention like a reminder that the day that he would sign something without reading it, declaring the Fifth Great War was around the corner. Still, even with his apparent laziness, attention deficit, oblivion and contrary to the opinion of many, Kakashi, truth to be told, was an excellent Hokage. Even against his own predictions and his reluctance to accept the job, Konoha was in one of its best moments: peace reigned in the village, they had a good and constant economic growth and political relations with the rest of the towns and nations flourished day by day after each Diplomatic missions that he attended. Although he hated them inside, he turned out to be quite charming and convincing in person with the rest of the neighbouring leaders, successfully carrying out every meeting, conversation, business deal or whatever.
Kakashi was proud of himself. Proud, but bored and tired. He hated all the office work that separated him from his precious, apparently non-existent free time. Kakashi wasn't able to train, go out on missions more interesting than politics or competing with his one-sided eternal rival, who even in his actual state, was always up to a good challenge, and Kakashi respected him for that. But above all, he had no time for his precious Icha Icha, he was forced to read them more and more sporadically, or secretly for that matter while pretending to read an official document. It was killing him. Not that Kakashi was obsessed with those books, no, at least not that much, he was not a perv, contrary to what people could think. The real thing for Kakashi was that after all these years, so much suffering, war and blood bath, those books, always remain the same. They had a story in them. There were more levels to discover besides the erotic parts, wich in Kakashi's opinion, though exciting, thrilling and tempting, weren't the highlights of Jirayia's best sellers. In those books, he was able to found the romance, the love, the fun and the relationships that he could not afford himself in his own personal life. Not because he didn't like the idea of having a partner, of course he did: a wonderful, strong woman. A woman who can accompany him in every mission but independent enough like to spend time making her own decisions, following her own path, challenging and defiance, but sweet and beautiful at the same time. He wasn't the type of man that wanted a wife to wait for him at home with dinner ready at 9, dressed for the occasion, and just willing to listen to whatever he had to say; a woman who over time only took care of their children (whom he was not even sure if he ever wanted to have), and who eventually abandons all her dreams just to be the wife of Mr Right. Unfortunately, there were not many women like that in Konoha. If they were not a Kunoichi, they were housewives or future housewives to be. And if they were Kunoichis, most of them were already married, very young or very ambitious, and ambition did not get along with Kakashi. More than one girl approached him in the past trying to turn him into a trophy or make it faster to the top on their shinobi path. Kakashi had been able to read them from the first moment, and although it was not what he wanted for his future, he was not a saint. He had learned to enjoy the advantages of being Kakashi Hatake, but sooner than later, he got bored, and for a while now he had left all those games sideways to take refuge in his precious books. Not that in Icha Icha women were presented as he preferred them, but fiction was one thing he could indulge himself with, and reality was another. There was no complication in those books, no real suffering, not disappointment, and definitely not pink-haired former students to adore and admire in secret and for sure not a Lady Tsunade yelling at him 'go for her, you fool.'
Kakashi knew that Sakura was single and that her life was dedicated to her work. For a time he and the Godaime had the habit of meeting a couple of times a week to talk about important matters in the village. But the truth was that between glass and glass of sake, they both ended up talking about more trivial topics and even about their lives. In those talks, Kakashi learned from Tsunade's own words, that Sakura had developed a kind of adoration and infatuation towards him. At the same time, he had confessed that he felt the same for the girl, but he would not do anything about it since it seems entirely out of place. For God's sake, they had been working together for longer than he could remember, and any advance in the wrong direction could break all boundaries. Tsunade always ended these conversations angrily telling him that he was a complete idiot for letting the only woman who could ever make him happy scape and that he, in turn, was an egotistic man who denied Sakura the same happiness. Kakashi wasn't so convinced. So like that, things were what they were, and the Six Hokage was quite content with them. Kakashi was no fool. He was pretty capable of noticing that something was going on with Sakura: the little flirtings, the innocent innuendos, a lingering touch longer than necessary. The signs were there, but that doesn't mean that they have to take another step and turn all that tension in something real.
Kakashi's and Sakura's relationship changed over the years smoothly, just like a river flow. For some time, the pink-haired girl was just that, a kid, a student, the sweet and temperamental little Sakura. Then she became the strong teenager full of determination under the wing of the Godaime, and that was something to respect. Finally, Sakura blossomed in one of the most wonderful women he ever knew. Beautiful, intelligent, strong, subtle, tender, but terrible irritating at times, and he love that. And he had the feeling that Sakura felt quite the same about him, but again, taking everything to another level was something he was not going to consent. What would people think? What would everyone say about Sakura? What would happen to their relationship if things went wrong? He very much preferred this kind of annoying silent game between them than nothing at all. At least they were close friends, they see each other every day, talk for hours, and it was ok. It was much more bearable to have Sakura in this way than not having her at all. So brave in battle and so coward in life.
Kakashi sighed, turning his attention back to all the paperwork over his desk. The sun was setting over Konoha, but it was a different kind of sunset. A storm was coming, a huge one and the sun was hidden behind the heavy clouds,
omens of a rain that would not stop for days, which was really unusual in the village but even regarding the weather the times were changing.
A rumble of thunder echoed across the sky, Kakashi couldn't tell if it was actually a natural phenomenon or the noise of his office door being slammed with all the fury against the wall. Yes, a storm was coming, and Kakashi had utterly forgotten about it.
"Thre weeks Kakashi? Three Weeks?" the Hokage didn't look up from his papers "What the hell were you thinking?"
"Oh, Sa Ku Ra" he started leaving his pen on the desk and crossing his arms "Please come in, the door is open" he wasn't mad, he was just beginning to have some fun after all "Why don't you take a seat".
"Kakashi, what were you thinking? Three weeks is too much" Sakura answered, still mad and with her voice a little bit too pitchy.
"No Sensei? No Hokage Sama today" he leaned over his desk eyeing Sakura from under the Hokage's hat "You must be really mad"
"Well..." Sakura recoiled "yes, but wouldn't you?" Finally, she took a seat at the desk in front of him.
"I would be delighted, but I can see that is not your case." Kakashi removed his hat, it was so annoying after all.
"Hokage Sama, three weeks are too much." There she was, calmer now.
"It's not what Shizune told me" he began lifting his hand to make Sakura stop talking, "your sempai told me that the last week you almost faint of tiredness. That you have been working nearly 24/7 for the last few months, and I can see for myself that you lost weight" he spoke eyeing her, Sakura blushed "So I think, as your Hokage, as you named me yourself that three weeks is a fair and necessary amount of time for taking a holiday." He finished knowingly.
"I don't need three weeks, Kakashi" Sakura tried to spoke in the most calmly way she knew "I'm fine, completely fine" Sakura leaned closer to the silver-haired man in front of her putting her hands over his. Kakashi relaxed in her touch, and for a moment he forgot what they were talking about. Sakura got him where she wanted "You know I'm well sensei" Kakashi looked her in the eyes, and he was about to fall in her charms, but the black bags under them brought him back to reality.
"I'm sorry, Sakura, not this time. The decision is already taken. From now on and during three weeks, you are free of your duties."
"You are insufferable." Sakura grunted.
"And you like me for that" Kakashi answered turning back to sign some papers, smirking under his mask.
"Yeah..." Sakura breath "but, what would I do? It's too much free time."
"I don't know Sa Ku Ra. What do you do in your free time?" The Hokage look at her again, interested in her free time.
"Work?" She said almost shy.
"Come on..." Sakura now has all his attention "don't tell me that you don't go out, that you don't have dates, that you don't travel, that you don't sunbathe or go to spring baths from time to time." Kakashi was amazed, but the part that interested him the most was the dating part, it was vital like breathing for him to know whether or not Sakura had dates with any of the men in the village.
"I don't..." Sakura was ashamed "I don't do anything like that, Sensei" and suddenly she looked fragile and pure and perfect.
"Well, a good time to start then" Kakashi concluded, and he suddenly noted his own stupidity, "but you don't have to do all at the same time, baby steps. For example, you may leave the dating thing for some other holidays."
"Look at you Sensei" Now she was being the teasing Sakura, there were so many levels in her "all so jealous."
"I'm not..." Kakashi tried to defend himself.
"It's ok, Kakashi. I don't date" she said, biting her lower lip in thoughts "Nobody likes a girlfriend who spends to much time with sick people". Kakashi only hum.
"Well, Sakura, you will have to think about what to do with this precious time given to you." The storm in his office was apparently fading away. Outside, not so much.
"With this weather, it will be hard to decide" Sakura sighed in defeat "what were you doing anyway? can I help you?" maybe she could trick Kakashi and do some work after all, even if it wasn't exactly her work.
"You're not going to win this time Sakura, not even if the idea of having you here reading all these documents is tempting as hell." God, he was smart.
Sakura remained seated at the desk in silence, observing the man who once was her sensei and now was like a boss and the village leader.
She observed his features, his movements, his concentration, and she lost herself in his hands that came and went around the desk most elegantly and slowly possible. Suddenly, she fixed her gaze on the little orange book calling her from under a folder. This piqued her interest. What was it that Kakashi liked so much about those perverted books that distorted true love and intrapersonal relationships?
"Anything you like, Sa Ku Ra?" Kakashi asked, raising his brow without looking at her.
"You are still reading those books." She said disapprovingly.
"As always, yes." He simply answered.
"I don't understand how a grown-up man enjoys reading those ridiculous and perverted books."
"You would be highly surprised if you give them a chance." Kakashi stated, leaning back on his chair.
"I hardly doubt it" Sakura responded imitating his posture.
After a moment of silence, Kakashi spoke again.
"You know what, Sakura?" Fun in his voice "It just came to me an excellent idea for your holidays." The smirk under his mask was enormous, he was so enjoying this.
"I'm listening." Sakura's voice was trembling.
"You are going to read Icha Icha, and I'm going to read your favourite book, and then we can exchange opinions." He was ecstatic.
"No way Sensei, I'm not going to read those terrible and misogynist books of yours." Sakura was angry, ashamed, surprised.
"Maa, Sakura, don't be so hard, you don't know if they are misogynist or not" Kakashi dismissed Sakura's disqualifications quickly "or is it that you are afraid of liking them too much? Because let me tell you, I'm not afraid of dying of boredom with your book if that helps you in having a more satisfying free time". He was teasing her in all his glory, and she was blushing like a tomato. She hated him.
"Are you telling me that we are forming a book club with only two members?" Against her own good judgment, Sakura was about to say yes.
"Two really VIP members Sakura." He assured.
"And I choose a book for you?" She asked again
"The one you want, yes." Kakashi waited for her answer patiently. This was going to be absolutely hilarious. After some minutes, she spoke again.
"Ok, but nobody needs to know about this. Is our secret" Sakura started pointing with a menacing finger to Kakashi's face.
"My mouth is sealed" He assured her.
"It's a deal then." She finished extended her hand to shake Kakashi's in agreement.
"It's a deal," He said also shaking her hand "You can take the book home with you now. It's getting late, and it's already raining." He finished de conversation.
"Tomorrow morning you will have the book here in your office Hokage Sama, and I hope you enjoyed," Sakura spoke walking to the door leaving Kakashi to his thoughts.
"I hope that too, Sa Ku Ra." He whispered with a smile.

Underwing Challenge Day 6 + Day 7
6. What does your portfolio look like? Talk about as many other WIPs as you’d like here.
I have to be honest here, I never understood portfolio. I mean u understand what it is and its purpose but I never understood how to make it for myself.
But either way I guess I do have certain things I worked on.
Starting of with Collection.
1. Collection: Story 1: Mirror Defect: (DONE) (Sorry no cover)
Not all is as it seems.
Not all can be explained and even when the truth is out not everything will make sense.
"I just lost my brother, I can't lose her."
What can you do when you lose trust in those around you? When grief holds you too close?
When lies are hidden all around you?
When nothing is real?
Can you trust your own eyes? When all goes wrong who can you trust?
"Experitment 1034, you are next"
Is anything real? Are you real?
**Warning: character death, graphic description of the deceased character.**
I SUCK AT SUMMARIES.
The story was originally done to scare my uncle. I was going to send him this other story, which R.L. Stine wibe to it but sadly I lost it.
So here we are. Now this story features Mark, who despite all that has occurred, is trying to fix his broken family, even if it means destrying himself but is this family real?
You can check it out here
2. So, A Deal?: (DONE)
Met with death she has no choice but to let death consume her.
"No, I can't leave like this! Not like this."
There is no other way, or is there? But is she ready?
"What do you want? Does your soul not fill with rage, anger and despair? Pushing you to the core of vengeance? Don't you feel like a ghost? Dreading you will disappear? You know you are nothing but a ghost, and eventually, you will have to fade."
"I have seen the face of affliction brought by my reality, I'm tortured by the future of things that cannot be, haunted by visions of yesterday."
Her sin is great, but her desire greater. Will she survive the burn?
This was something I did for my school wrok once. Although it is quite different than the original work. I'm quite happy with the last chapter. I honestly just posted it out as a test to see if others would like it.
It took quite an effort and I enjoyed doing the last bit of it. I really want to make a sequal to it, get it going, but not really sure if this is going to go well.
You can check it out here.
3. Solar Elements: (DONE)
Avatar: The last Airbender inspired.
A lot can happen during a lifetime, faultless rotating to flaws, heroes into villains, a lifetime of destruction smiling in your wakes.
A lot can be lost in a lifetime.
"Wolf is going overboard,"
"We do not have time to wait."
"Surrender now and we shall show you all mercy."
"No, we will never yield to you"
"Then so be it."
"You are not prohibited to address better yet conduct such disgrace." "We are still alive!"
"Love you, Son"
A lot can happen during a lifetime, faultless rotating to flaws, heroes into villains, a lifetime of destruction smiling in your wakes.
"And so she has finally awoken."
I had done this for a story contest once, sadly I was unable to win. But I have to behonest, if I had I would have been so annoyed, it was awful, so awful. I won't talk much on it, as I still don't like this too much.
This feature elemtnal magic and time twist you can say, where a character, reborn must choose to either repeat history or change it completely.
4. Pirates tale: (WIPs)
Had this in for a while, been working on it but didn't have a plot till now.
The ship has no name, no crew, nothing. But if you see it, it's already too late.
Legend says they're ghost, some say they are cursed, others....... others don't live to tell the tale.
It was inspired by a prompt I saw once. Hoping to make these pirates cured to be vampires, hidden from all and only visible at night. They are insearch of their first crew captain, the one who must break the cures. Problem is, Captian dies 30 years ago.
Guess, his hidden daughter must be placed instead.
This is dumb, so dumb, but hey, I'll work on it.
5. The Basement: (WIPs)
Another school work.
This one feartures students sneaking into their school's basement. Each with their own story on why the basement is forbbiden.
If only they had listened and not followed through, then maybe they would not have encountered, the hidden dark past of the school.
This has a gay couple, lol I actaully send it to my teacher but I don't think she noticed :(. It needs alot of work though, so this may take a while.
6. To find the Truth: (WIPs)
This one seems to be liked a lot by you guys. Many seem intrigued.
In the dystopian future, when the world government collapsed, when humans fell and the virus took hold, out rose a series of mutants. Their genes mutated by the virus released when a power plant went nuclear.
These mutants, blessed with powers beyond their control, have taken leadership. Smart, strong, powerful and undefeatable. They hold power over the weak like you and me. But I won't let them stop me. I won't let them come in the way.
They are sloppy, weak and useless. The world is filled with criminals, danger and people in need. This world needs justice, it needs help and they won't help, so I will.
"They'll take you away. They take people like them away"
"I won't let them"
I worked up a lot on this in the past few day and have actually most of the plot down. Well the main chracter's backstory at least, even how the virus started and why these mutants have taken over.
I just need to start it out and get it going. I have done that and I was thinking of adding bits and pieces on how the world is after every sub-story, like telling the tale as the story progress.
Was also hoping to give this story, a big reveal as to who these mutants are and how they came to be, why they take other's like them and how they find other's like them.
7. To Sacrifice or To Live? (WIPs)
Still working up on the name here, but the story goes like this.
Two wedding decades a part, each holding nothing but tale forgotten.
An evil entity hanting them both. A power over both familes, readdy to demolish them whole this time.
Will the scarifice work?
Ok, before you turn away, here me out here.
Two weddings, one in the 1900s and the other in 2000s. Both familes trapped in a curse long active, each must work to find a way to break the curse. One failed, made it worse, will the new bride make it? Or will she suffer worse?
8. Collection: Haunting Memories (WIPs)
Jenny doesn't know how she did it but she did. She didn't mean to. She really didn't. But Nina is dead now and it's her fault. She did it.
It's her fault.
Then why do they blame Jake? Jake is sweet, kind and caring. Sure he was the one with the blade, covered in blood and coming to kill Jenny next but it wasn't Jake. Because she saw.
Saw him kill her. Push the blade through Nina, watching as the girl fell. Her blood turning the ground crimson. She saw as the life left Nina's eyes. As the killer slumped to the ground, the control over him wearing off.
Jenny knows because she killed Nina. Then why does no one believe her? And why do her memories differ from Jake's?
“I am telling you what happened.”
“All you are doing is wasting our time.”
“Then be patient, this is all I have. Please just hear me out.”
“We are busy people here. We don’t have time for stupid tales, girl”
“This is not a stupid tale. If you could just listen.”
“We are listening. Listening to you for the past 10 minutes, all you have done so far is tell us useless things. We have things to do.”
“Everything I mention is important. One thing missed and you won’t understand. Please. I need your help.”
“You have 10-”
“15”
“Fine 15 minutes.”
This I hope to work and get done by at least in the next month. It need a lot of work and must be quite slow yet fast paced. I need to make the plot a bit more than just what I have written.
8. Trick? No, I'll take the Treat (WIPs)
Halloween themed. Done quite long ago.
What will you do when your Halloween turns into a nightmare?
I have nothing much on it at the moment, but will update this soon.
7. What kind of partnership are you looking for in this event? Friendship? Somebody to bounce ideas off of? Something else? What sorts of people are you hoping to meet and adopt?
Honeslty, I did a lot of research in the past few days and boy do I ned a lot of work done.
For starters, I need someone who can actually tell me how my work is going, just how kuch of an effort I have out in and how it seems to others.
I need harsh, quite harsh feed back so I know what I am doing wrong, what I should improve with and what interests the reader about the book.
I also say wish to meet and know other writers here. Would love to meet them and get to know them.

Title: The Djinn's Awakening
Chapter 1: The Mysterious Artifact
In the year 3025, humanity had reached the pinnacle of technological advancement. The world was a utopia, where artificial intelligence governed every aspect of life. However, hidden beneath the surface, ancient secrets were waiting to be discovered.
In the heart of a bustling metropolis, a renowned archaeologist named Dr. Amelia Carter stumbled upon a peculiar artifact during an excavation. It was a small, intricately carved lamp, emitting an otherworldly glow. Little did she know that this discovery would change her life forever.
Chapter 2: Unleashing the Djinn
Curiosity consumed Dr. Carter as she examined the lamp. With a gentle rub, a cloud of smoke erupted, revealing a stunning female figure.
