Penny in her summer outfit, yes it’s completely inspired by Cynthia’s summer regular wear and I was in love with it, it’s still a wip and I have some changes like fixing her toes and coloring her in like her ombre pink to purple hair and shirt cause I can’t do that yet. Yes her pose is like Cynthia’s and her concept art pose

*Her two buns are held by scrunchies covered in mini diamonds and pearls (Hah pun 😅😂), are fake but people don’t believe her, her accessories are still the same (added a pearl bracelet and diamond ring) but her mini skull necklace has her keystone to Mega evolve her metagross, same color as it, make up wears pink lipstick and purple eyeshadow, being a summer goth

Gray striped bell bottom with fuzz trims and Pants have a Arceus ring design at as well an wavy curls plus dots at the end above her fuzzy trims, Arceus ring for her belt buckle cause she’s a goddess even though she insists she isn’t but like Marinette and Marianne, has befriended every mythical and legendary pokemon, including having dreams about Arceus and the creation trio who end up adopting Penny and her found champion family, so no surprise if Giratina pops up to say hello

Yes I gave her braided dreadlocks and long hair (box braids while her fellow champion and friend Camilla Hombee has the waist length twists hairstyle) cause I want to give a bit of homage towards her inspiration and is it bad that I want more hair representation that isn’t seen as ugly? This is still practicing hairstyles so forgive if it’s messy and yes her eye is covered on purpose cause of an incident I’ll talk about later

Hair and shirt are ombre color fading from light pink to hot/dark pink to magenta to purple/violet(Hair) while being reverse with her sleeveless shirt with a golden teardrop ornament on her shirt, the same goes with her hair buns, huge earrings and mini belt. Has multiple mini piercings in her ears which she covers in jewelry inspire by her mom and grandma’s home regions

Her hair is base off the bi flag colors which she dyed from her natural dark purple hair as an act/sign of rebellion and lets it loose since she use to wear it in a bun or ponytail as she got older, her child hair was shoulder length in braids, same with her diamond and pearl jewels like her diamond ring, pearl bracelet and her pearl/diamond earrings. Heck, even her scrunchies are of the bi colors with pink pearls and purple diamonds plus a Giratina tattoo on her back 

Anywho here are my random hcs about Penny’s personality and personal life down below, cause it long:

Her’s name is short for Pandeia, a moon goddess who was the daughter of Selene or another name for Selene, fits her role with being exceeding lovely amongst the deathless gods and is the polar opposite of Phoibos (PV Gabriel), her villain of her region, and her former first childhood best friend who slowly losing his sanity over time and jealous of her, much to her shock and devastation since she as a kid had low self esteem in her childhood and teen years, she’s was nerdy and a huge geek in history and legends, having a soft-spoken voice leading her to become a historian and archeologist maybe teacher on world history (in this au, she’s not Jagged’s assistant) very professional, helpful and hardworking champion, trying very hard to make her region a better and safer place, thus earning the respect of many including her people and the rest of her fellow champions.

Penny is known as the most strongest and “toughest” champion as not only does she become serious in battle, there is since very few has even managed to defeat her but even then they can’t take her title from her and has a tendency to strike fear into other’s heart without even knowing her just by hearing her name. Despite this, Penny is great problem solver and tries her best to look at both sides. While nice though, don’t get on her bad side or make her mad as she can take on a curt and confrontational persona who rips people to shreds that can even rival Felix! Despite her often taking more than she can chew and has hidden anxiety which she tends to study it off and work to the point of overwhelming herself and passing out in exhaustion or not sleeping at all drinking coffee, trying to make her region a better and safe place though she hides this part of her well.

She is on the spectrum, and mild OCD stemming from her perfectionism leaning towards the mild side but she tend to hide her anxieties and flaws cause to her eyes, she didn’t want to be taken as a failure even though she’s still a very well respected leader. Is neurotic, prone to anxiety, and quite socially awkward but more as child/teen, she’d rather read books and talk to pokemon and would rather hang out in a library or museum for hours till closing time, the one who has all straight A’s and would do the work early and be ahead of all of her classes who has a fear of disappointing others and trouble saying no plus was often teased by her classmates for being a recluse and her height leading her to be wary of meeting new people and thinks she would mess up her relationships. Still she as she is older, often suffering with workaholic tendencies and a strive for perfection but has hidden them quite well

Penny bonds with Marinette due to them being quiet worry anxoiety prone but still caring for others, would put their lives for them and being a fellow aspie. Often falls asleep on her textbooks even as she got older as she tends to lose herself in her research and can read for days, often having her fellow champion friends text her or call her or have her pokemon look after her as she literally buries herself in books. Despite her inseurcites, thanks to her friends and pokemon, becomes more confident, proud and cares for herself She is incredibly smart, can speaks 7 languages including Kalosian, Pokenish, Pokeugese, Japanese along with reading ancient language in Unown, Braille, Morse Code, sign language and is still considered to be a famous liked icon.

Penny is very interested in mythology, often spends her time researching and exploring various sites associated with Legendary pokemon of the Sinnoh region. Same goes with legends of other places as she loves very story of pokemon but enjoys the dark side of legendary pokemon tales like Darkari, Yveltal, Necrozma, Eterneaus,often wishing to befriend these pokemon with horrible reputations and reading those for a bedtime story or begging her parents or grandma to tell her, often being secretly gleeful on learning about them. Ironically she hates being spooked or surprised as she fights back and hates horror movies that don’t involve pokemon but enjoys listening to the Pokedex’s entries and debunking or supporting the terrifying theories and has many scary looking pokemon, a love for them plus a hidden love for macabre and the dark arts.

Use to be easily overwhelmed and cracked under pressure but doesn’t show it and hides it behind a profession calm face. Reason why was they went on their journeys together. Penny was a natural throughout the challenge (much to her surpisie, while Phoibos was a powerful trainer but not as efficient at earning badges and was.. less “approachable” than Penny. She just woke up one day and foinds out he packed everything and left from the Pokemon Center without saying goodbye, didn’t answer his phone, doesn’t know why he disappeared after she got her final badge, but suspects it might have something to do with people calling him “Penny’s sidekick” and saying that he was “slowing her down.” She’d love to reach out and reconnect, but hasn’t seen him since they were kids, well she’s get the angst/tearjerker of her life once she finds out who’s behind Team Kosmos’s antics (there’s much pain and tears)

She regrets not doing much to defend him as tried to help but she sucked at defending herself and was shocked and flattered at the attention and rise of popularity. First met him at the library as they both reached for a book at the same time, ended up giving it to him and offered him which chapters and what other books he would like he should read cause she’d them all, massive bookworm and despite his deadpan look, end up bonding and talking over time, like introducing themselves and info dumping on one another. It felt nice to have someone to listen to and not be told to shut up, was the more confident and happy one in their duo, gushed over Phoïbos mechanical creations and getting close to his face, nose touching and smiling widely as she excitedly asked which tale he liked

Needless to say, they became friends (Phoïbos was rather awkward in expressing it) and her grandma, would be so happy that she has a friend and immediately find out about his horrible sad home life and would’ve adopted him (his granfather wanted to do it as Penny looks like a simple, yet highly organized woman, perhaps even handing a bit of OCD or perfectionism when it comes to doing things for the man she works for. Penny is on top of things, often times multitasking throughout the day and always getting the job done. Although it’s a working relationship and Penny is paid for her work, Everyone is very appreciative of her

But he left on his journey with Penny as they also bonded over being seen as “weridos” or “freaks” as she has her left eye being lighter than her right one, living in Celestic Town with people attached to traditions and old ways, a lots of them fell under the superstitious trope too, and little Penny had heard many times about her heterochromia being associated with bad luck. One of the kids one day managed to hurt her hard enough to leave a scar over her eyebrow and she has covered it up since. She prefers covering her eye anyways, as she considers it to be less noticeable. Phoibos stated with a straight face (and.. was that a faint trace of a smile?!) after she told him her story on why she has this “mysterious goth vibe” that they were the most beautiful color he seen

She, his grandfather and her family was the only one who cared for him, giving him gifts on his birthday, showing up on special important events, the one he fondly remembered her making him  friendship bracelet for his 10th birthday as they were sit in a meadow of flowers (moonflowers and sunflowers)which Penny said inspired by her mother’s side of the family who wore tribal jewelry  to represent their status and color symbolism, red for him and a white bracelet for her, plus it reminded her of him as she quietly apologizes for being the only who came to his birthday before her family planned them and states that they aren’t good (it’s the only thing he kept during their falling out). He internally regretted injuring her again on her covered eye, making a more visible scar on her face and was the more logic of the duo, sucked at comforting Penny but tried

Is this the first time Katniss and Peeta have been to their floor or is this just the most opportune time to explain and introduce the Tribute Center living quarters?

Also why are they called tributes anyway? That word suddenly seems weird to me after nine years... 🤔🤔🤔

Oh wow, so Haymitch hasn’t been around since they were on the train? No wonder neither Katniss nor Peeta fled they could trust him for basically the entirety of the first book. 😐😐😐

You know it’s bad when Effie being around feels like a blessing to Katniss. Girl has more restraint than me, I’d have ripped off this woman’s janky wig by now without remorse. 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

Effie acts like they’re her purebred show dogs. I know I know how is this news, that’s a blatant fact. The movies really softened her up tho for the general audience. And I bleed the movies and books together more than I should 😔😔😔

Well at least she’s made herself useful, trying to get Everlark sponsors ... even if it’s ultimately to benefit herself above anyone else .... 😤

Effie calling Twelve barbaric while she’s preparing them for the slaughter isn’t even ironic it’s like literally just brainless. Johanna probably had the nickname floating around for a lot of people before she officially knighted Katniss with it 😭

“Everyone has their reservations, naturally. You being from the coal district.” Is this how they refer to Twelve? So basically if a district makes a better item, it’s a more worthy one in the Capitol’s eyes? So essentially, if District Eight made like diamonds or pearls or whatever then it would be more worthy? So are the districts assigned their numbers (one, two, three, four, etc) based on their order of importance to the Capitol’s lifestyle? I always thought it was based on their distance in relation to the Capitol? Okay so I didn’t really pay much attention to these facts previously when I read these books ok look away I’m an idiot

Omg 😭😭😭😭 Effie is such an idiot. But the coal turns to pearls thing is my favorite line from her only because it serves as the cutest inside joke when Peeta makes a callback to it in Catching Fire and Finnick is just like “why are these two teenagers so stupid who did I ally with? 🥵😳🥵😳🥵”

“I wonder if the people she's been plugging us to all day either know or care.” After reading Songbirds and Snakes, I’m sure they don’t have a clue, boo. 😑😑😑😑 although not everyone was an idiot back then ... maybe Snow is putting lead in the drinking water?

Katniss just constantly trying to decipher the recipe of every meal and how to recreate it reads cute on a surface level but it’s actually so tragic because everything to this girl is based around food. Like even more than is typically noticed. They really should have given a hint at this in the first movie. Good thing she marries a man who can always keep her full.

“She may also be the friendliest person on the planet - she smiles constantly at everybody in school, even me.” Okay not to tie absolutely everything back to Peeta ... but to tie absolutely everything back to Peeta ... this description of poor, sweet Delly is actually indicative of Peeta’s character? Since Delly, we find out in Mockingjay, is Peeta’s childhood best friend, her personality being this sunny, kind, good-natured person tells us Peeta has always probably been somewhat like her and perhaps not as much like the other town kids Katniss implies to be stuck up or snooty. Maybe Katniss is just shady and deflects onto others 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️.

Also the fact that she gives this like ... mean description of Delly but saw Peeta as popular, even though surely Delly and Peeta spent time at school together, implies further that Katniss did indeed harbor a secret crush on Peeta even before the reaping. A very mild comparison of his on her though, of course 😅😅😅

“It must be the hair” “something about the eyes too” their piggybacking on the other’s comments really is just chiefs kiss 😘🤗🥰🤧 FYI I know the saying is chefs kiss but I made the typo once a long time ago and decided to add it forever to my brand 🤗🙃🥳

Also though this Everlark interaction is reminiscent of when two kids get caught by their teacher goofing off in class and covering for each other 🥰 only it’s a lot more deadly stakes

Haymitch’s comment “Just the perfect touch of rebellion. Very nice” leads me to think he and Cinna and maybe Portia were always in cahoots about the rebellion even before Katniss and Peeta came along and well ... lit their match on fire 🥁🤗🤣🤭

Either Suzanne thought of drawing a nice parallel showing what a failed Everlark attempt looks like, because I firmly stand by the fact that without their real feelings behind their act, even Katniss’ unconscious ones, they wouldn’t have pulled it off, or Suzzie just reused her own content. I prefer the former but I think it’s probably the latter 🤭🤭🤭

“Now go get some sleep while the grown-ups talk." I know Haymitch is being facetious here but this quote reminded me of the fact that the movies would have hit differently if they’d cast actual sixteen year olds in the roles.

Also I definitely feel like Peeta is getting more and more confident here because he’s oblivious to Katniss’ inner monologue as much as she is his actually we all are his sadly and he probably thinks she’s starting to like him 🤧🤧🤧

“So, Delly Cartwright. Imagine finding her lookalike here." 🤣 He honestly cracks me up idk why this line isn’t even special or that great. He’s just so ... subtly nosy / funny. Which brings me to that quote from Mockingjay where Katniss talks about his sense of humor because it’s one of the things she loves most about him 😭😭😭

But he’s like, “I can keep a secret, Katniss, tell me who that tongueless chick is to you 😬”

Katniss stop talking about debts, friends cover for the other all the time 🙄🙄 I know it’s in her character stop yelling at a fish for swimming that’s not a real phrase I know that too

Okay first of all, they’re about to share a secret 🥰🥰🥰🥰. My shipper goggles are on tight and obstructing my vision. I know this and am proud 😬🥳🤗

And secondly, “Maybe sharing a confidence will actually make him believe I see him as a friend.” Hey, butthead, you two are already friends. She doesn’t even recognize that the girl who constantly sits with her, talks to her, eats with her and trades with her is her friend either though, I’m shocked she calls Gale her friend

Does Peeta get to know Cinna too? I don’t think so but it’s mentioned now a couple times in this chapter alone that Peeta has interacted with Cinna. Katniss never interacts or has a conversation with Portia.... then again, is that even surprising? Katniss isn’t ... what you would call ... social. Hashtag relatable.

Also rooftops belong to Everlark only 😍😊😉 I mean, seriously, Katniss never goes up on a rooftop with anyone else. Besides Haymitch in the first movie but we ignore.

“Electricity in District 12 comes and goes, usually we only have it a few hours a day.” Earlier she said the Seam didn’t often have electricity, in particular, so either she’s not specifying her section of the district anymore or Suzanne is backtracking.

“I wonder if we're supposed to be up here now, so late and alone.” If this was a romantic drama or comedy, that line would have meant something a lot more fun 😒😔😬😉😏

“On the other side of the dome, they've built a garden with flower beds and potted trees.” Is this meant to resemble Snow’s grandmother’s garden???? Like he had them put a garden there to like ... put a piece of his Grandma’am in the games? Idk this made zero sense it was a stupid thought

Just like I was watching the Games.” I feel like this is actually a good comparison though, because of you grew up in a society where you have to watch kids die, your whole entire life you’ve watched it in a glorified television show, you would be really desensitized to it...

“You don't forget the face of the person who was your last hope.” Here she’s talking about Lavinia but it applies to Peeta too. Katniss was Lavinia’s last hope and she feels like she let her down but Peeta was her last hope once and he came through. And, as she said in chapter one, she’ll never forget him for it. And for other things too. Later on. 😏

- EVERY CG + STEVEN FUSION WAS STUFFED IN HERE AS WELL AS MY TIED FOR FAVORITE WITH OPAL FUSION, OBSIDIAN

- FUCKING LAVA FUSION I LOVE HER SO MUCH THE CRACKS IN HER HAIR AND HER MAGMA SPIT THAT BECAME A FUCKING SWORD KILLED ME

- RAINBOW FEELS VERY FAMILIAR WHO VOICES THEM???

- SUNSHINE IS LEGIT A LOVE YOURSELF COMMERCIAL FROM THE 90S IN A CORPOREAL FORM

- FUCKING PINK STEVEN STILL SCARES THE EVER LOVING SHIT OUT OF ME HOLY FUCK

- WHITE HAS A WHOLE CHARACTER ARC IN 5 MINUTES

- WE SEE A WHOLE FUCK TON OF GEM DESIGNS INCLUDING JASPER, BIGGS, CENTIPEEDLE, THE BEETLES, THE PUFFERFISH, AND A LOT MORE

- IM STILL NOT OVER THE PINK STEVEN THING IT WILL LEGITAMaTELY HAUNT ME FOREVER

- EDIT: I forgot to add how mindblowing the animation is in the Pink Steven scene?!?! I was just so stunned by the scene itself that I didn’t mention that the lines are SO clean and crisp, and the animation literally looks 3D, and that seems to be because the legendary James Baxter did it, and from what I saw from his work on the Adventure Time episode, he’s an absolute master in the art of animation, and I feel like I’ve been blessed seeing that animation with my own damn eyes

Ok, now that I’ve calmed down a bit, I have to say it felt really REALLY rushed but I still enjoyed it a lot! I do have a few gripes with it though:

- I wish we could have seen Sunstone, Rainbow 2.0, and Obsidian before this, or at the very least seen Sun and Rainbow before, with Obsidian being this big stressful event because as we’ve seen 4+ Gem fusions like Alexandrite can be very hard to keep stable, and they had one chance to fuse and keep it together

- Steven said one sentence to Pink Pearl, and White didn’t recognize CG Pearl, which is really weird. Pink didn’t even react to Steven, or realize that he had Pink’s Gem. We don’t learn what happened to Pink Pearl either. Steven seems to already have connected that White’s Pearl was once Pink’s, and when talking to White, it seems like he is understanding what his Pink dreams really meant, which is weird bc it seemed like he didn’t understand that they were memories before.

- I felt like with the exception of the Pink Steven scene, the Diamond fight at the very beginning and the confrontation between all 4 Diamonds, it didn’t really feel like the characters were reacting as much as they should have? Like, it takes a second for Pearl to figure out that she and Steven fused, and her reaction is kind of cut off, but Garnet doesn’t really react to fusing with Steven? I also feel like Obsidian should have been a bigger deal to everyone, but it felt like Garnet was like “ok, lets form obsidian then” like they’ve done it a thousand times?? Yeah, they’ve fused with Rose before, but Steven? And Alexandrite has always been a big deal, since she’s so unstable, while on multiple occasions in season 1 the Gems were pretty clear that fusion was for emergencies only. Obsidian is literally a White Diamond only level emergency, but while it was a big deal for the audience, the CGs (including Connie, Bismuth, Lapis, and Peridot)  weren’t as shocked by this as I would have thought? Peridot says “they’re huge!” or smth like that, but not much else. For me it was really frustrating when Blue and Yellow, and ESPECIALLY Amethyst, Garnet, and Pearl, were drained of their color, it felt like it SHOULD have been a Keeping It Together level of horror, but it wasn’t on the characters’ faces, which was disappointing. It took me out of the action on my first viewing because it looked like the CGs weren’t that bothered by it. WHITE IS LITERALLY MIND CONTROLLING THE DIAMONDS AND YOUR FAMILY STEVEN WHAT THE FUCK I have to say that the Pink Steven scene was legitimately disturbing, and I applaud the storyboarders for that, I just wish it could’ve continued throughout all of the horrifying scenes.

- Steven didn’t tell anyone about his Gem being ripped out, possibly because there wasn’t any time left in the episode, and that was really weird to me. Like, you got HALF OF YOUR SOUL RIPPED OUT STEVEN. Like, White and Connie HAD to have said something, right? Was it just not shown?

- That brings me to how ridiculously rushed the ending was, because here’s what happens in the last 5 or so minutes (seriously, I’m looking at the time the ending starts)

      - Steven gets home while Sadie’s having a concert on the beach

     - WITH THE FUCKING DIAMONDS

    - Lars also gets home with the Off Colors

    - Sadie and Lars say hi for an awkward amount of screentime

    - THE DIAMONDS HEAL THE CORRUPTED GEMS INCLUDING JASPER, CENTIPEEDLE AND A LOT OF THE GEMS WE’VE SEEN OVER THE SERIES AND THERES NO DIALOGUE BC STEVEN IS SINGING A SONG OVER THIS WHOLE PART

     - The Diamonds leave, seriously, after less than a minute of screentime on Earth

    - The CGs are on the beach, with NO recently cured corrupted Gems to be seen, and it’s kind of like the theme song, with Greg grilling hot dogs, and the CGs sit on the beach with Steven (just Garnet, Amethyst and Pearl now) and Steven sings a song. The End.

It just felt really rushed? So were the Diamonds�� “redemptions”, but this was insane. Every plot line in the whole series is supposed to be solved in 5 minutes? I mean, there’s a lot left unanswered, but it felt like they were trying to tie everything up with a nice bow, and it was rushed. Also, you know how everyone said that the Gem designs at the ball were lazy and that we only saw a few new Gem types because the crew didn’t have time to design new Gems? (I personally really liked the cog Gems bc I love gear designs but I know a lot of people didn’t like them and that’s valid) BULLSHIT LOOK AT ALL OF THE UNCORRUPTED GEM DESIGNS THEY LOOK AWESOME. But why could they not have done that before? They designed at least 10 new Gems for a minute or two long scene. Yeah, they were based on the already done corrupted Gem designs, but that’s fine! We could have easily seen Ocean and Biggs Jaspers at the ball, or even at the Zoo, in a flashback (like We’re Only Falling Apart, the war scene in Single Pale Rose, Your Mother and Mine), the ending of Legs From Here to Homeworld, but we didn’t, and I can’t understand why. Now it’s strange that we didn’t see any uncorrupted counterparts on Homeworld. What, is every single corrupted Gem part of a super rare Gem type? Yes, we’ve SEEN Jaspers before, and we HEARD about Nephrites, but even at the start of this episode we had some cool silhouettes of Gems, just like in The Answer, and they were never fleshed out into actual Gems. It’s just kind of strange that they had all of these templates but never used them. Plenty of fans have used the silhouettes and corrupted Gem designs to make Gemsonas, but the crew couldn’t? Just paste the color palette of Biggs or Ocean onto a Jasper base and you’re good! That’s essentially what happened this episode but I STILL LOVE THEM SO MUCH I will protect Ocean, the Beetle, the Centipeedles and the waterbear Gem with my life, BUT they could have appeared MUCH sooner as background Homeworld Gems

- EDIT: Since I’m always criticizing the animation and character models, I feel like I have to note how impressed I am with a majority of the animation in this episode. I felt like during the Blue vs. Yellow scene in particular though, Yellow’s expressions felt... odd. LET ME EXPLAIN FIRST PLEASE. See, for me, while I don’t like exaggerated facial expressions most of the time, I can get past them as long as it’s for comedy relief or to express raw emotion. The problem for me was that Yellow’s expressions were drawn as if she was supposed to be in a comedic scene instead of a heartwrenching, emotional outbreak uncharacteristic of Yellow, where you are supposed to feel with her, to feel her pain. But for me, it felt like she was pulling faces like she was trying to make a crying baby laugh, and I felt like Patti Lupone’s expressive, heart-wrenching voice acting didn’t match up with what I was seeing on the screen. 

  - As I said above, James Baxter’s Pink Steven animation slayed me, I’m still dying haaa

   - OBSIDIAN WAS THE BOMB/COM THO her hair is so amazingly detailed, it had to be hard to animate that.

  - Most of the lines were crisp. One of my main criticisms is how starting in season 3, while the animation and art quality went down, both were hindered further by the blurry lines, which I KNOW is because they resized the art. When I’m resizing an arm, or the head when it’s out of proportion, the resized lines become blurry whether you’re shrinking or expanding a section of a piece. But in this episode the lines were pretty crisp for probably 80% percent of the episode? And I’m counting all 44 minutes, and considering how bad it usually is, I’m very pleased.

tl;dr I LOVE THESE EPISODES TO HOMEWORLD AND BACK but there are a few issues I just can’t see past and some of these issues just threw me out of a great episode to ask myself why??? But also I’ve rekindled my love for Steven Universe and FOR ONCE I can see past some of the bad character models and animation because this episode was just so good!!!
