Pash interacting with folks from the House is some of my favorite stuff in this book. I still love Corona's rejoinder of 'Boobs, and hair, AND a hell of a sword hand' to her. :-) As to the Fourth House skull, might it be because what amounts to child soldiers play a somewhat important role in the chapter, and the Fourth was known for child soldiers?

I feel like the skulls in Nona tie back to the poem at the start of the book. So four is for Fidelity.

All the ones that don't match a character make sense when matched to the poem but maybe I'm reaching

Ok, so:

Chapter 4: Seventh skull (Seven for beauty that blossoms and dies)

This was the chapter where Hot Sauce noticed someone watching the school and the Angel looked hung over. Hot Sauce also asked Nona to look out for people when she walked Noodle, but this wasn't the chapter where she pretends to radio Corona. Honesty also talked about getting his job to steal air conditioners. I'm not seeing it unless it's a reference to the Angel looking tired? Or maybe it's because Nona and the kids had a conversation about whether or not she was beautiful

Chapter 11: Fifth skull (Five for tradition and debts to the dead)

Nona acted out her pool dream with Camilla, Pyrrha told Nona she'd gone to the park (and killed the people in the cages, but Nona doesn't find this out until later) and seen Hot Sauce there, and BOE interrupted breakfast and took them to see We Suffer (which actually happens in the next chapter). Maybe the people who died at the park count as debts to the dead?

Chapter 15: Seventh skull again

The first appearance of the car with the grille, and Hot Sauce told everyone that the broadcast was happening. This was the day that Camilla failed to come get Nona, so she stayed and fell asleep and Hot Sauce told her about her past and Nona told Hot Sauce (presumably) that she was dying. I guess Nona herself is blossoming and dying here

Chapter 18: Eighth skull (Eight for salvation no matter the cost)

This was the chapter where Nona got shot in the head twice and Hot Sauce declared her out of the gang, and Pash killed a bunch of people and all that jazz. Nothing particularly religious seems to be going on here, and I'm not actually sure what "salvation" means in the context of John's necromancy religion, since it doesn't have a concept of someone dying for other people's sins and John doesn't believe there's anything on the other side of the River, so it can't mean getting there. I guess in the more practical sense of "salvation" of the lives of the characters who can still die, they had to take some risks to do that here?

Chapter 26: Fourth skull (Four for fidelity, facing ahead)

When Hot Sauce let Nona back into the gang again, so yeah, fidelity works here. Or child soldiers, although if I were picking a chapter to reference child soldiers, I would probably pick the one where Hot Sauce told Nona her backstory of being a child soldier (which had a Seventh skull)

Just looking at the chapter images and not reading ahead, it looks like all the other skulls are associated with characters who are actually in this book

Advice for traveling/backpacking. Some countries, Italy and Germany being notable examples, don't use card payment as much. I'm from Ireland and when I go to either I always have to carry cash. A lot of smaller businesses in these countries don't accept card payment. So it's handy to carry cash for buying things at small cafés or corner shops. Card isn't as universally accepted as in the UK or Ireland.

Oooo okay interesting I didn’t know this! I was looking at opening one of those online banks so I could use card payments abroad without the extra charges but I’ll be sure I still take some cash with me wherever I go! Thank you!!!

Last thing I read: I am excluding fanfiction here to make this easier to answer 😎 one of my goals for this year is to read more, and to accomplish that I’m reading books I am actually interested in instead of books I feel like I should read. That being said, the last book I finished is “How to Keep House While Drowning” by KC Davis because I need some tips for getting my life together lol. Highly recommend for anyone struggling with cleaning/care tasks. Before that I read “Verity” by Colleen Hoover, which is a right rollercoaster of a novel despite its subpar writing. I enjoyed it a lot and it was quite disturbing.

Last movie I watched: I think it was Bottoms. Wacky movie, not my usual preferred genre, but I’m a big Ayo Edebiri fan and she was great in it. I’m seeing Dune 2 this weekend.

Last TV show: Right now I am trying to get through as much of 911 as I can before my Hulu free trial expires. I am living and breathing this show. I’m almost done with Supernatural and I’m dragging it out because I don’t want it to be over. This rewatch has taken me years. My boyfriend and I are also watching an anime called “Made in Abyss” - and it’s fantastic! 11/10 worldbuilding. I started Succession and I’m not sure yet if I’ll continue.

Last thing I googled: “cheap online glasses” - time for new glasses but I don’t want to pay an arm & a leg

Last thing I ate: Raspberry Mamba

Sweet, salty, or savory: there’s a time and a place for all of these. But if I have to pick one I’m going with salty. My love for popcorn runs deep

Sleep: Could be better!

Currently reading: Fourth Wing by Rebecca Yarros. A friend recommended it to me, and I love a solid fantasy/romance. Y’all. This book has taken over my life and my brain and I’m only halfway through. This is my adult Harry Potter phase but there’s smut and more dragons. And there’s characters of color! LGBTQ+ characters! Awesome worldbuilding!I’ve already been looking at fandom merch on Etsy and my friend is planning a release party for the third book in the series. If you like fantasy, give it a shot and let me know what you think because I want to nerd out about it :)

Currently watching: I’m currently trying to catch up on all of my shows (and reading) during this break because i swear to god i never got any when I’m occupied with school, so i’ve got quite a a few actually! The ones i’m most focused on at the moment are Ms Marvel, Gilmore Girls, Queen Charlotte, and BBC Sherlock (i’m actually only an episode in for this one but best believe i will be continuing it). But i also am currently watching Brooklyn Nine-Nine and The Last of Us.

Currently reading: I also have quite a few for this one because apparently i am now a “multi-tasking reader” (no actually i just have a short attention span and one hell of a reading slump that always comes and goes). My main focuses are The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins (my goal is to finish the entire trilogy and watch all the movies before next semester started), and Babel by R.F. Kuang (i’m only one chapter in, but i love it already! i was quite intimidated by it at first, but i actually found the writing pretty easy to read. well so far at least). I’m also currently reading Five Survive by Holly Jackson and The Goldfinch by Donna Tart but i haven’t continued them in a while.

Current obsession: …… i’m actually not sure lmao. Because one day it’ll be Bridgerton. And then somehow it will change to MCU. And when i’m feeling extra down, i go with If We Were Villains by M.L. Rio (i am so in love with it, it’s so good). And whatever else i’m currently watching and reading. Taylor Swift and Gilmore Girls are a constant one, with Conan Gray and Gracie Abrams. I don’t know. I think i get too attached too much to be honest.

"My opinions on her? That is both an easy and a tough question. Dory is a surprisingly likeable person. It amazes me at how fond of her I have become despite having no intention to say any more than 4 words to her. She is my friend I suppose and keeps me on the straight and narrow with her cheery attitude, semi-insulting nicknames for me and that uncanny ability to evoke almost a sense of guilt in me at times. I am content to spend time with the lackadaisical little lass which is more than I am with most people."

The Queen peered into the shallow brook, and gave the fish a strange look, "I don't suppose you belong here," she chuckled, running her fingers along the surface of the water gently.

Jesaja barely left the catacombs, and the temple of dead cats he stored.

But hunger had lead the somewhat wrecked cat to finally head to the surface, perhaps find a suitable piece of food to snack upon. Hopping out of the hole hidden well next to one of the low hanging stone walls, the cat sniffed the air to make sure any... unfriendly cats were lurking about.

Once deciding it was safe, the feline hopped onto the garden wall, and off it, into a separate backyard. It would take him three backyards before he could get to the suitable highway, which was a mainstream to the city and no doubt housing of many alleyways with trashcans packed to the brim with scrap a cat like him could digest.

He had to be careful of humans and dogs, though. No doubt a stray like him would be unwanted to such creatures. But he wouldn't expect who he would meet in the not-to-distant future.

(( I have noticed that Dory and Prescott are essentially like two children who like each other a lot but pull mocking expressions and semi-insult each other with nicknames like Mr Grumpy, Queen Calamity, Mad Scientist and Fish-Girl just to get a reaction. It is like their coping mechanism for dealing with one another.))
