DESIGNING OUR GUEST ROOM
I have been day dreaming about our guest room located in the loft for a long time. I think as it won’t be used too often we could go a bit bonkers on the theme of it & make it bright & cosy for our friends & family. The reigning colour that keeps in my head is forest green. The room is L shaped & the bed is in the nook away from the window so I would like to encourage the dark to be dark & the light to be light.
This image a while back was an idea of the kind of thing I wanted... it has since evolved into including a busy bright maximalist wallpaper... and I took advantage of John Lewis’ free swatch service & paid for some swatches from Sandberg ordering the samples that caught my eye.
The second coat of the darker green (Farrow & Ball’s Studio Green) there has since been added & it looks wonderful, the lighter green is Russian Turquoise by Valspar.
The samples didn’t really give too much of an idea so I have spent this morning adding the wallpapers into my visuals...
Top wallpaper is Sandberg’s Malin. It is beautiful & has a deep feel. There are specs of pink in here which warm it up some & make it very pretty.
Middle wallpaper is Morris & Co’s Pimpernel in Bay Leaf / Manilla. These colours are so soft & sophisticated... whilst I am striving to be more grown up - this could help me do this! (haha) but I am unsure the shape of the ceiling allows for this beautiful design.
Bottoms wallpaper - my eldest daughter’s favourite is Boråstapeter Rebarber (Rhubarb) Wallpaper in Blue/Green. And I think I love this one the best. Its bright & fun as well as being dark... plus I have loved that yellow ikea chair since spying it on a visit a couple of years ago & have probably subconsciously been working out where I can put it in my house! This would be perfect! haha. I will put the vote out there! eek! exciting!
