I have just finished the first two Wot books as an original show only. I went into these books being like okay these are gonna be really different from the show because of how unhinged everyone has been about it. And I was shocked how much they actually follow the plot…like guys you must calm down. Sure there are changes but like…be FOREEAL

this is so funny jkdjfg and so true!!!! i had the same feeling reading EOTW after having seen s1 and heard how up in arms some people were about book-to-show changes. it absolutely felt like the same story and even mostly the same plot just with some details changed! i remember after i finished EOTW, an anon asked me what new-to-me stuff in the book that wasn't in s1 most surprised me and i was like ".........nothing......?? if anything i was surprised by how much is NOT in book 1 compared to s1" (in terms of lore, future story stuff, etc. they don't even introduce the concept of the dragon reborn until book 2!)

anyway, i and a lot of other show-to-book people started reading after s1, so it's nice to hear a perspective from someone who's done it after s2 and to hear that s2-to-TGH didn't feel jarringly different to you, just as s1-to-EOTW didn't for me! if you're planning to continue reading the next few books, then godspeed, but if not, i'm sure s3 will do a great job capturing the essence of them!

Every time I hear takes from extremists that are either like "people who don't want to have kids are purely selfish and unnatural scum" or "people who want to have kids are evil bigoted conformist pieces of shit" I always wonder why so many of these cunts are just entirely incapable of having rational views for once. Could be too much religion for one and not enough religion for the other tbh

Foreeal. There are valid reasons to want kids and valid reasons not to. Depends on the person and situation but I do find it gross how often I see the “having children is selfish” type comments especially with how often they’re under videos of disabled parents and children, or done with the angle with guilting new parents over bringing a child into the world bc the world is gonna be on fire by the time they’re adults.
