For Crimes Forgotten - Shoot!
For Crimes Forgotten began shooting on the 4th of April. We were initially going to go to Glenshee on Monday, however, it was reported that the weather would be horrific on that day. The new schedule went as follows:
Monday 4th - the bings
Tuesday 5th - break day
Wednesday 6th - the bings
Thursday 7th - the bings
Friday 8th - break day
Saturday 9th - Glenshee!

We had a meeting on Sunday night, and I planned to get a good nights rest as I had to wake up around 5am to make it to the bings in time. I also called 111 due to my back which was still in pain!! And it turns out I slipped a disc in my back. Not ideal.
Day 1 - 4th April
I slept in. I think the last week of barely any sleep - and the fact I took my sleeping medication sunday night, resulted in me sleeping in till 8am. Not ideal!! This caused me to have a really severe anxiety attack. I first called Cameron, and informed him I’d be late. He explained that we had a half day on Monday, so they could manage without me if needbe. But I felt too bad, so I told him I was still on my way. I then got ready and left asap. I cried all the way to set (2 hours of bus rides). Cameron picked me up and gave me a hug bless him!. I managed to calm down once i got to set. The crew were all super understanding and nice about it.

It was actually a really nice day. I mainly just kept actors warm, helped Laura reset between takes, did some first aid, and helped carry kit. I decided I would bake some of my famous biscoff cupcakes for wednesday as an apology!
Day 2 - 6th April
I wasn’t late today!! And I brought some cupcakes! It was again, a really good day! Laurie came to do some BTS photography, and i also became a part of the camera department. I helped spot Ethan (DoP) as we were shooting on a gravelly slope. Ethan tells me that i saved both his and the camera’s life multiple times!!

Other than spotting, I did my usual job of helping with production design. It was a lot windier this day, and had on and off rain (and even hailstones at some points).

Day 3 - 7th April
More rain on the 3rd day. Charlie (who was 1st AC) was ill this day, so I became 2nd AC - so did clapper board and continued to spot Ethan, whilst still doing my usual production design jobs. It was a lot sunnier this day and i came up with the idea to use one of the spare blankets we had to cover the monitor and the people using the monitor so they could see the screen whilst it was sunny!!

I brought some lemon cake this day. And we wrapped in the bings!!

Day 4 - 9th April
Final shoot day!! This was the big one! Because we had moved Glenshee to the Saturday, Jagoda (our AD) wasn’t available. Cameron approached myself and Dan and asked if either of us would AD on this day. We decided we both would, but I would be the main AD. I was also asked to do some BTS photography for this day.

I had to get into town for 6am so I woke up at 4am. It was a nice car journey, and we arrived on-time. As we drove to the mountains, it gradually became snowier and colder. It was quite ethereal. It took a while to set up, we had a large tent with us (which became kind of like a greenhouse in the sunlight - which was amazing to come into after being in the snow and hailstones outside). We then found our spot, maybe 50 meters from the tent.

I started ADing, pushing people to set up and get to work, I also brought a portable speaker to keep people vibing and spirits high! We ran quite a bit behind, mostly due to weather. It would be sunny for 30 minutes, and then looming through the hills we would see a moving fog of snow coming towards us. So we would continue filming as much as we could till it hit us, then grab the actors and camera and run inside the tent. It was quite funny.

We wrapped around 6pm, so around 1.5 hours later than expected. I was very proud of my multitasking on production design, spotter, BTS photographer, and AD. the drive home was very nice and I slept the whole of Sunday!.

For Crimes Forgotten - Helping Laura and Making the Watch
Due to how swamped I was on Masked and Lure, i didn’t have a whole lot of time to focus on For Crimes Forgotten. I had been helping Laura where i could, mainly giving her my advice on how to make certain props and such. Like the balls and chains for example.
Laura had wanted to make something, similar to how I was making the masks, but I knew they werent that sturdy and would break easily. So i suggested going to costume shops and seeing if they had prison costumes that included a fake ball and chain. She found separately sold ball and chains (i think used as funny props for weddings or stag doos). She cut holes in them and filled them with rice, then glues them to chains and fake barbed wire, then sprayed them with silver and rusty spray paint!. They looked amazing!!. I also helped her with dying the robes, lending her my giant pot and giving her instructions on what to do. The robes turned out great!.
Other than that, I did help on that pocket watch. Laura had designed a symbol for the embroidery for the Warden’s robe, which was a play on the infinity symbol. So I used my trusty glue gun and created an infinity symbol on the outer face of the watch, then used gold paint and varnish over it.
I mainly focused on making sure I was helping Laura on-set. I wanted to more or less be her assistant on-set, and do the odd jobs she needed done whilst she focused on the main costumes etc.

For Crimes Forgotten - Pub Quiz Fundraiser
For Crimes Forgotten, wanted to get some funding for the film as they needed to travel quite a lot for the shoot (both in Linlithgow area, and then up to Glenshee). They decided to hold a pub quiz, and we had a meeting to figure out the logistics and make the actual quiz. I am an avid quiz maker, and so helped make the actual quiz.
I was also asked to bake a cake as one of the raffle prizes.
I ended up being a really fun night, and we raised almost 500 quid!!

For Crimes Forgotten - Plan
For For Crimes Forgotten I was co-production designer with Laura. We had a meeting to establish everything we had to make/source.
Informant’s shackles to steel pole (maybe have shackles at beginning be old and decaying, then after time reset, nice and clean and new?).
2 torn robes with hood.
2 clean robes with hood.
Scraps of rusted metal.
Shreds of paper.
Spotless pocket watch.
Dark circles around eyes and chapped lips.
Dark lines like war paint.
Lips sewn shut.
Blindfold.
Small metal object (key).
Thick leather bound book.
Several books.
We also contacted several junk yards and metal scrap businesses in Edinburgh to see if any could help us with the chains and poles. This didn’t come up with any results.
We also both lookd at several robe options - immediately ordering ones that Maddy approved of as they’d take a few weeks to arrive. Maddy told us she wanted the robes to be white, grey and black; very different from what Laura and I envisioned. I told Laura that I was already dyeing fabric for Masked, so I knew how to do it for the robes to be dyed grey (we couldnt find grey robes online). I also already owned a gold pocket watch, so we ticket that off the list.
