Kara's dog, Drake, is the ultimate comfort to her. They've spent many a night curled up by the fire together, and stroking his big velvety ears never fails to soothe her after a rough day. Her Krytan Drakehound was a gift from her father and her first pet as a ranger, and whilst people often side-eye a ranger with a simple dog instead of a more traditional pet, Drake has a keen knack for sensing when anyone means her harm even before she notices herself. That mission in LWS3? Seemingly out of the blue, Drake snaps at Braham. Few things have shaken Kara up quite so much as seeing that. A lesser but still important comfort: silk. She does secretly have a love for all things silk, but only her best friend, Torvi, (and her lovers), know this. She thinks it's not very Commander-y, and not very Norn, to enjoy something so decadent, so she keeps her silk underwear under wraps. She does, however, very much enjoy the silk sheets in the guest quarters of Zalambur's manse, and she will tell anyone who will listen.

Kara adores being outdoors and being connected to nature. In fact, she will rip off her boots and be barefoot whenever possible. Jory is actually convinced Kara is morally opposed to shoes because of the amount of time she spends barefoot in her presence. Hunting is Kara's number one favourite hobby, followed closely by flying on her skyscale and relaxing in a hot spring. When in the field, she often forgets how much she needs this. Those who have the misfortune of being stuck in close quarters with her can see this coming a mile off, and if she's getting a bit crabby from being cooped up, she does often need to be reminded to go for a run to blow off some steam. On her worst days during LWS4, Rytlock can be seen forcibly removing her from Sun's Refuge and racing her to Almorra's Stand and back, just to wear her out.

Kara is about as typical a Norn as they come. She uses an axe and a longbow, both in combat and out of it, so she's geared up to manage. She's been hunting since she was a child, and always uses every part of the kill out of respect to the creature. Meat for food, bones for building, fur and skin for clothing and repairs. Her connection to Jormag always leaves her feeling cold, however in reality she has the same unreasonably high body temperature one can expect from a Norn, so she doesn't need to wear much and is quite happy to take the occasional snow nap. She's also a trained chef, so as long as there is something left alive to eat, or safe veggies to forage, both Kara and anyone in her party would survive just fine.
