it was one of your date nights she's barely managed to fit in her schedule, having been very busy for a couple of weeks due to their single album being dropped. it was hard enough not to see her in person for at least a few hours a day, let alone her not having time to chat you back.

the cool breeze of seoul kissed your cheek, unconsciously gripping minji's hand tighter, your eyes closed, savouring the moment, knowing you might not see each other again for a few more days. she looked at you with teasing eyes, poking your side which cause you to open them with a gasp.

"you...!" she smirked, "did you miss me that much?" you sighed and lightly squeezed her hand, looking her with those charming and sparkling eyes that held so much love for her, a bottomless pit of admiration. she flushed, growing a more darker shade of red when you brought her knuckles to your lips and kissed it, a warm smile on your lips.

"i didn't know you could tell." you replied, as the two of you started to cross the road.

she laughed just as the two of you were halfway through, the faint sound of an engine roaring blended in with other obscene sounds. right after the two of you had crossed, minji's eyes caught sight of an elderly struggling to cross. and being the kind hearted person she was, she rushed over to the elderly and assisted her, the scene causing a smile on your face.

but it was quickly wiped off when the sound of engine became more evident, shouting following after. you weren't sure what happened next, but you were certain that you had rushed to the two's side and pushed them just as the car was about to hit them, taking all of the impact a car speeding 80 miles per hour has. the loud timbre of the collision had resulted in a disgustingly dreadful loud sound that the people within 10km in proximity could hear.

the whole world stopped.

minji's heartbeat was all she could hear, rushing to you the moment the car sped past her, fast enough that it almost blew the hat she wore away. her breathing was ragged and harsh, while yours was languid and was trying to keep your eyes open. she cradled you, surrounded and stained with blood as she did so, her tears running down her face.

she was trembling, the thought of you slipping away from her fingertips had her sobbing louder than she ever had before, thinking that the date you'd gone tonight was the last.

how did it come to this?

minji had caught murmurs from the nurses that it was impossible to recover from that incident. that most of the time, they end in death. but they didn't know you the way she knew you. you were a strong woman, the strongest she's ever known, and was certain you'd survive.

but deep down, she knew that she was lying to herself.

"kim minji-ssi?" the doctor closed the door of your room behind him, approaching the female who sat up immediately after hearing his voice. "is she okay?" she rushed out and the doctor sighed in relief.

"she is." and just as it had been before, minji's world started to spin again. "you can see her now, if you'd like. but i'm afraid it would take her days before she wakes up." minji nods and enters your room, taking a seat beside your sleeping state and sniffling. "i'm sorry. i-it was all my fault that you're here laying in a hospital bed."

"n-no. it w-was mine." you winced as you tried to sit up, but your injuries had stopped your from doing so. minji gasped, the dam almost breaking again. "don't move, you'll hurt yourself more. and don't say that it's yours."

you chuckled, another wince following. "but it was mine. i-if i hadn't run after you i wouldn't have been here." you offered her a weak smile, a tear escaping her eye. thank you."
