Robin chose Steve. Robin made the conscious and deliberate decision that she could and would trust Steve. She already liked him! She had fun working and bantering with him! They were already on their way to being weird little bffs and the torture just expedited the process. Steve chose Robin just the same! He thinks she's fun and cool and likes her so much! He chose to be honest and open with her too, putting himself out there.

Even though their interests on the surface level don't match why wouldn't they share them? Steve clearly caves when Robin wants to watch a movie he doesn't think he'll like, Robin can watch a March madness game or five.

Stop trying to take away their bond oh my god people can be close to more than one person!!! Their best friend doesn't have to be dismissive or mean or whatever in order for a romance to be special to them!

okay! good for you!! i truly and genuinely hope you get to continue to feel that way and never experience the kind and level of harassment from sports fans for being queer/a woman/a poc and from non-rpf fans that has made so many of us feel unsafe enough that we don't particularly want to be associated with them, as always you are never going to convince those people that they are like us even if they are, you are simply going to make sure they feel righteous telling us we don't belong, but you're right i no longer feel safe here with you either, so advice heeded :)

i am a queer mexican woman bud 😭 i just also believe that being a fan of sports means that i am associated with sports fans, on account of being a sports fan. it helps no one to not think of myself as being as much of a sports fan as anyone else!! i have a lot of involvement in my real life with men who are also sports fans and respect me as a sports fan; relatives like my cousins & my brother, friends i've had over the years, my brother's friends who come to me with hockey questions, my mom's ex-boss who regularly joins the bracket challenges i organize, etc. my mom & i have season tickets to our minor league baseball team and spent so much time talking about the mariners to our washington transplant ticket rep this summer that he and his gf are going to drop in on thanksgiving, where we will all flip between football & college basketball.

basically: it is truly possible to both engage with more fandom-y sports fandom and feel like you have a space in regular sports fandom. in both cases, as with all fandoms, it's about carving out a space that works best for you. my experience isn't universal but neither is yours!

though i'm sorry to hear that your experiences have been bad, i think not wanting to be seen as a sports fan, or like other sports fans, because of bad experiences with sports fans, is largely to the detriment of sports fans who aren't cishet white men.

Right, and the racism from other players is ALWAYS excused by fans. I didn't even know about that caroline photo until you brought it up, people just pretend it never happened. And Paula's photo a couple of days ago? She "apologised" and under her post there were HUNDREDS of replies from white people saying that "all was forgiven" "she didn't do anything wrong" and her acting like the victim under those replies. AND!! --------------------------------- So I actually want a few things to happen in the next project (the continuation fic is essentially all of it lol), but I would definitely agree on the original songs front! That's for sure on my list.

One of the main things though, the biggest one actually, is to continue with Johnny's storyline as a queer allegory. We've already faced familial acceptance in the first movie, community acceptance with the second movie (though I have so many issues with how the dance class was handled), and it would be nice to just wrap it up with personal acceptance. And that might seem out of order but it actually isn't in a lot of cases. I know, for me at least, I spent so much time right after coming out defending my place and my identity to the world around me that I never really took the moment to process I could just finally be myself, and that it was ok to exist. I feel like a storyline like that with Johnny would be amazing, as there are numerous ways to go that route, like romantic (please, I want to see Rynny more than anything, PLEASE) or personal (Johnny finally putting out boundaries with his workload).

This would be an awesome storyline to see through either of those lenses, with a romantic arc featuring Johnny and Ryan being able to use a much more obvious way of showing this, especially if Ryan has already reached personal acceptance. Why that is is because throughout his previous storylines, Johnny has a specific support system for each, with familial being the troupe and community being Nooshy, so it would make sense if the love interest in this scenario, Ryan, took on that role this time around. It works really well in this option as it leads to really cute moment possibilities of the characters, particularly Johnny, just letting himself exist and have something for himself. And I will admit that I feel this is the best option for this storyline, as it is pretty blunt and up-front with the coding then, just like Johnny's other storylines, but also allows Johnny to have something for himself (his identity and his relationship) instead of how we see all his developments in the past movies, aka being broadcasted to the world and not really giving the kid any privacy. He deserves something for himself. And I feel like a relationship with Ryan could be that thing.

But like I said, you could work it as personal as well, with Johnny finally putting forward boundaries with Buster due to the workload the man keeps assigning the poor kid. I feel like a good support system here could be Ryan (if they are in an already established relationship) or his dad and uncles as they would have life experience to advise him on the matter. Johnny is heavily overworked throughout both movies and it seems like the expectations for him are really high, so a moment of him just letting himself exist as the ordinary person he is would probably be very therapeutic for him.

I personally wish they would go in the series direction instead of another movie, allowing for more detail to be poured into the characters, and that is kinda the format in which the continuation fic is written, in a way easily translated to a series. However, I have posted an idea for a Sing 3 set after a time jump around Johnny's story that I'll link below. It kinda goes into the previously mentioned wants for a series but having those already happen and mainly talks about ways to get queer rep around hate groups.

So yeah, I really want to see a personal acceptance journey for Johnny, letting the kid see he doesn't have to fight for who he is or his place anymore, he can just be Johnny, however that looks like.

One of my biggest pet peeves is border collie "preservation breeders" because, for the most part, the people claiming this title are just doing the bare minimum of ensuring that there is herding drive in their dogs. The border collie is one of the few breeds that are still mostly bred for their original purpose of herding stock, but ask 10 different border collie people what the specifics of that is and you will get 10 different answers. Considering we are, in the big scheme of things, a fairly young breed as far as stud books are concerned (barely over a hundred years) its kind of tragic that for the most part the breed community has forgotten that the purpose of the breed isn't herding or, more specifically, it IS herding for sheep trials, not even really for what would have been 'real' work at the time. That's not to say that the breed can't or shouldn't be able to do more typical, run of the mill work, but IMO, you shouldn't be calling yourself a "preservation border collie breeder" unless you are breeding for open sheep trials.
