it really is so interesting to watch people fandom wise in terms of their stances go from “huh that’s a slightly different interpretation that’s neat” to “okay that’s kind of a weird take” to “alright bad faith mischaracterization” to “you’re criticizing this character for traits they don’t even have” to “you clearly resent and/or hate this character (even if you won’t admit that you do) for weird personal projection reasons” in real time

#fandom nonsense #like the blatant anti buddhism attitude in the atla fandom that gets hurled around in the way ppl take about aang YIKES #viren harrow rayla ezran & callum probably get it the worst in about that order #OH AND AMAYA TOO SOMETIMES #like most of my fandoms when they had a Weird ass stance on a character it was like #the last two so i never got to see the evolution #so the evolution is interesting #as well as good to know shit never changes #there's always misogyny / racism / dehumanization / lack of understanding and/or awareness of mental health #and eurocentricity stacked on top #every time #'i just hate monarchies i'm not being racist i just think if white man viren was King all the issues would be fixed'#LIKE HMM.
