Since there are rumors floating around on the MCU's rumor board about casting a Teddy Altman...
I just have to say that the people who want Kit to play Teddy Altman. I get it. I do.
Kit and Joe have phenomenal chemistry. But. Their story is Charlie and Nick, not Billy and Teddy.
The stories are incredibly similar, Charlie is the bullied homosexual twink who meets Nick, the amazingly wonderful and "perfect" sporty guy who just so happens to also be a nerd and their love for each other is just explosive, automatic and they just need to be together.
On the other side, Billy is the bullied gay kid who meets Teddy, an athletically built nerd whose love for each other is automatic and immediate and they just need to be together.
The only difference. One is a slice of life story featuring several lgbtqia high school students, the other is about superheros and villains and several of the young avengers are not just straight.
Billy Kaplan (besides the fact the actor is not Jewish.) They literally cast an actor who looks like he walked straight off of a comic book page. Just like with his character Charlie Spring.
However, we should give others a chance if Teddy Altman ever makes it to live action. I agree, Teddy Altman looks like he was made for Kit Connor, just like Nick was but in Agatha All Along, Billy's boyfriend is Eddie, who looks like the POC version of Teddy.
So can we all just give people a chance to portray these characters, let others audition for the part and if it so happens that Kit got the role, then you can all rejoice. I, for one, will welcome anyone who can do Teddy justice. I don't believe in "shipping" actors, like most do in the BL fandom, if these two actors are in multiple series together, portraying different characters, then great. But can we also agree that others out there might be the ones to bring certain characters to life?
Besides. Eddie is a character that might just be the MCU's version of Teddy. So can we give Miles Gutierrez-Riley a chance before we start demanding a Teddy adaptation?

Woven Fates - Heartstopper/Agatha All Along - 18+: 2. What Class Does Agnes Teach?
AO3
Wattpad
September 19th, 2020 12:27 PM
Truham Grammar School for Boys, Truham Hills, England
"Oh, just leave him alone, Tao," Isaac rolled his eyes as Tao tried to speak to Charlie several times, but Charlie was in his little world.
"I don't like it... he is going to get his heart broken," Tao muttered to himself as Charlie had a smile on his mouth... but at what cost? "Charlie!" Tao clapped his hands at Charlie's ears.
Right now, he was thinking about how cute Nick was. They had hung out a couple of times—it was all at school, but still, they had hung out. He thought that Nick might be gay—or at the very least bisexual or questioning. There have been flirty undertones whenever they speak to each other.
Charlie hated sports, and Nick even convinced him to join the rugby team because he could run fast. He would have never gone for this since all his bullies were on the team. He didn't care, but at least he could hang out more with Nick.
"Charlie!" Tao grabbed Charlie's shoulder and shook him back and forth. Finally, Charlie was pulled out of this weird state of mind. "Your stupid boyfriend wants to take you somewhere," he said.
Charlie raised an eyebrow and looked over to Nick, who was waiting for him just a few steps away. He glared at Tao for saying all this in front of Nick. "He isn't my boyfriend. he is just my friend..." Charlie muttered under his breath. What's up?"
"Mrs. O'Connell asked me to meet her in the Art Room," Nick blushed, and Charlie nodded.
Charlie shot a glare at Tao before getting up to follow Nick. "Sorry about Tao. I know we are friends." Charlie was trying his best not to scare Nick off. He loved being around him so much that sometimes he felt Nick was too good to be his friend.
"It's okay. I am not afraid of you, you know," Nick smiled at Charlie. The boy raised an eyebrow, and Nick explained. I am not afraid of what people think. I like hanging out with you. If they think I am gay or your boyfriend, then whatever, right?"
Charlie widened his eyes before he blushed, giggling and looking down at his feet. "What? Why are you being so cute?" Nick said, and Charlie turned bright red.
"I'm not being cute..."
"Yes, you are," Nick noogied Charlie and pulled him to his side, placing a hand on his waist. Charlie felt a bit self-conscious as no one had touched him affectionately like this. he hated his body so much he didn't even want to look at himself. Though the fact that it was Nick who was touching him, "You are as cute as Nellie,"
"Who is Nellie," He bashfully looked anywhere but into Nick's eyes.
"She is my dog," Nick said. He pulled out his phone and showed Charlie the photo of him and Nellie. Charlie cooed and grabbed the phone to get a closer look.
"I love dogs!" Charlie smiled before looking at more of Nick's photos. Nick's face was soft and happy. He felt like Charlie was the only person around whom he could be himself. He looked down at the boy, rubbing his hand in his curly hair and glancing down at his lips.
"Do you want to come over and meet her? She loves meeting new people," Nick said, and they giggled all the way to Ms. O'Connell's room, wondering what she could possibly want them for.
"Oh, you two love birds, come in here already," Agnes peaked her head out the door, making them cringe.
"Oh, um... we are just friends," Charlie said out of habit, looking at Nick, who winked at him.
"Alright, Boys, I am sure you are wondering why I called you over here," Agnes clasped her hands together after rushing them in. "Glee club," she said flamboyantly.
"Um... Glee Club?" Charlie raised an eyebrow at her.
"That's right. I talked to the principle, and it's going to happen, and I want you two to be the first members. Once the two coolest boys join, it's only a matter of time before others join," Agnes said. This made sense to Nick, as Agnes was always singing and being theatrical.
"Ma'am... aren't you a?" Charlie thought for a second. What subject do you teach?" Charlie asked as they had learned about female reproductive systems, the life of Stevie Nicks, and the Salem Witch Trials in the past couple of weeks.
"Do I need to go to college to choreograph a couple of silly little numbers and teach kids how to sing?" Agnes scoffed before looking between the two of them. "Oh c'mon, don't tell me you think a glee club is too gay for you two,"
"Well... Glee Club is gay," Charlie shrugged, "I don't sing... I play instruments... and I don't think the others will want to join in singing a few little show tunes.
Agnes looked annoyed at this, almost like she was trying not to have an outburst... it was terrifying. "Alright, boys... how about this," She had a big fake smile on her face, "You two join my glee club, Charlie will bring in the nerds, and Nick will bring in the jocks... and I will make sure you don't get an F for every single assignment for the rest of the year."
"Y-Yes, Mr. O'Connell!" the two stammered in unison before they tried to run out of the classroom.
"Boys!" she snapped, and they stopped. They turned around to see her handing them forms. "Hang them up at the club and school activity boards. Make sure to sign up on them," she said before she gestured for them to leave.
They quickly hung up the forms before going to the main hall. Charlie thought this would be the one that would get the most traction. He quickly signed his name before handing it to Nick. The big golden retriever pressed the button to retract the pen so it would dry out. That's when the pen crushed in his hand, spraying blue ink all over the two of them.
"Sorry, Charlie!" Nick gasped, and Charlie began to giggle. This brought levity to their stress and fear from Agnes' intimidating nature.
"Nick? How did you do that?" Charlie laughed, grabbing his arm to bring him into the bathroom to help him clean up.
"I dunno..." Nick knitted his eyebrows together. I thought I was gentle, but maybe the pen was faulty." Nick said, confused, but Charlie calmed him down.
"Let's um... let's try to use some hand sanitizer," Charlie said as he blotted the excess ink off their bodies. "Do you know how to get ink out of skin?" Charlie asked as Nick looked at him, confused.
"Did you just call me Nick?" Nick raised an eyebrow, and Charlie looked at him confused, "My name is Teddy-"
---Rewind----
"Hang them up at the club and school activity boards. Make sure to sign up on them," she said before she gestured for them to leave. Agnes said, and the boys nodded, skedaddling out of the classroom. They made it to the first bulletin board to pin the forms.
"Didn't..." Charlie pointed at the pen, "Didn't you break that?"
"Huh?" Nick giggled, thinking Charlie was making a joke. "What are you talking about? I am clean, aren't I?" Nick asked, and Charlie gulped.
"You... said your name was Teddy," Charlie said, and Nick looked at him as if he was having some episodes. "A-And my name isn't Charlie, it's Billy Kap- No... Billy Maximoff... and I have a brother, Tommy-"
----Rewind-Fast-Forward---
"Nick? How did you do that?" Charlie laughed, grabbing his arm to bring him into the bathroom to help him clean up. Confused, he looked at himself in the mirror: "I... are you having Deja Vu?"
"Deja Vu?" Nick raised an eyebrow. "Ooh, I love that song. We should ask Agnes if we could sing Olivia Rodrigo instead of show tunes. "Hey... are you okay?" Nick asked as he could see Charlie was in a bit of distress.
"Yeah, um..." Charlie didn't quite know how to explain it; he felt like he had been rewound and fast-forward like a TV show. He began to speak, but the door to the bathroom kicked open. The two of them flinched and looked at the door. "H...Hi?" Charlie said, knowing he was supposed to know the guy, but his name just couldn't come to his mind.
"Don't talk to me faggot," He snapped.
"Ben, Chill," Nick snapped protectively. That's when it came to mind. It was Ben Hope, and everything that happened in the past played through his mind like a flashback.
"Whatever... I'll let your boyfriend continue to wank off your forearm," Ben scoffed, storming out of the bathroom. Charlie furrowed his eyebrows, looking down to see he was rubbing Nick's forearm very lewdly with hand sanitizer.
"Shit... sorry," Charlie blushed, "how long have I been doing that?"
"For a bit... it's okay; it felt nice." Nick shrugged. "My arms hurt a bit from practice, don't yours?" Nick asked as Charlie had joined the Rugby team.
"I um..." Charlie said, flustered, covering his face and dying of embarrassment.
"It's okay. I promise you gave my forearm the time of its life," Nick said, making Charlie laugh. Come on, let's see if I can get any ink off of you," Nick offered.
Charlie felt his phone vibrating in his pocket, so he used his free hand to fetch it. 'Library after school. You better not be late.' Ben had sent it to him on Instagram.
"You okay?" Seeing his face drop, Nick asked, "I am not rubbing your skin too hard, am I?"
"No, you're fine," Charlie forced a smile. His anxiety was peaking as he knew he couldn't ghost Ben, or he would be in even more trouble. Please Vote, Comment, Add to your reading list, and share with your friends:) Check out my subreddit for my writings r/QuinnLake.

Imagining the chaos that'll ensue when and if Joe Locke's Wiccan says "hi"🍂 to Kit Connor's Hulkling on their first round table meet for the YOUNG AVENGERS initiative....who then returns his "hi"🍂 btw, lingering on the eye contact for only a couple extra seconds, feeling a strange draw towards one another, as if they know each other from another universe.....

friendly update!
just passing by to leave kit connor's photos, 'cause he would be the perfect teddy altman/ hulking.
okey, so now that the news about joe locke being casted in agatha: coven of chaos are out, i need him to play billy maximoff/wiccan. he would do an amazing job, and i can totally see him as elizabeth olsen's son.
however, i have to admit that the casting that i've been manifesting for months is kit connor as teddy altman/hulkling. he was born to play that role (and nick nelson).
some may not be in favor because they already play a couple in heartstopper, but there have been other actors that play couples in more than one project (like adam sandler and drew barrymore). also, these drawings by alice oseman exist...
also, if marvel casts them, they make sure that the actors have chemistry, and that they have a huge fan base that will endorse the show (because let's be honest, we know how the public reacted to she-hulk, so imagine a show with lgtb+ main characters).
my other petition is to cast edvin ryding as tommy maximoff/speed.

The New York Times Review:
The Broadway revival of “Romeo + Juliet” plays to the TikTok crowd. But maybe that’s a good thing.
Source: New York Times Oct 24, 2024 (X)
Mostly positive, which is impressive from the NYT! Hopefully offsets the negative reviews. (X)
Kit Connor and Rachel Zegler and a viral pull-up
…Connor needs no help in keeping and maintaining the emotional temperature, easily enlarging the tenderness and obliviousness of his Nick on “Heartstopper” to fit the stage. When he looks into Juliet’s eyes, you see what he wants and how seriously he wants it; when he walks among his riotous peers, as they hump Teddy bears and sniff out insults, you see how little that means to him now.
Connor is also a very physical actor, or at any rate his recently beefed-up, often tank-topped body is given a workout. Instead of just climbing to Juliet’s balcony — represented by the design collective dots as a flowery bed that descends from the heavens — he does a leaping pull-up from the ground to get there, then lifts himself farther to achieve full face time. This is a lover with lats.
But a manly Romeo and a tiny Juliet — Connor is nearly a foot taller than Zegler — creates, or reinforces, a problem. It’s disturbing enough in the Shakespeare when Lady Capulet tells her 13-year-old daughter that “ladies of esteem” her age are “already made mothers.” With an actor who, despite his baby face, looks much older than his years (Connor is 20) and an actress who looks much younger than hers (Zegler is 23) you’re left in an indeterminate space between ancient and current levels of ick.
It’s wise, then, that despite the supercharged sexuality of the staging otherwise, Gold limits the pair’s lovemaking to gropes and kisses.
…Gold’s staging is perhaps the busiest and funniest I’ve seen, a lot of the humor coming from the dotty nurse, whom Shakespeare designed for that purpose. (She is played with Valley Girl snark by Tommy Dorfman, who also plays Tybalt.) And though there is, of course, violence, it is broadly mimed and deliberately mild. What the production emphasizes instead is unfairness, as teenagers tend to do as well, wanting limits to excuse their whining.
The play is thus less terrifying than teenifying — hence the plus sign instead of the “and” in the title. The lobby, lit like a junior high school prom, offers not just the expected merch and specialty mocktails but a table where ticket holders can learn about registering to vote. The choreography by Sonya Tayeh lands perfectly in the zone between professional movement and what a nerd might do in front of a mirror. Fangirling and fanboying are strongly encouraged. There is nothing unlikable about any of this.
It’s a little slick, though, at least for seen-that adults. The play’s twisty language, expressive of twisty thoughts, is largely untangled but, in the process, flattened. (Gold’s edit brings the running time, not counting intermission, to “the two hours’ traffic of the stage” Shakespeare mentions, but some of that traffic is stop-and-go.) I smiled a lot but never came close to crying.
Is that a reasonable response to aim for when staging the world’s most famous weepie? For me, seeing so many young people engaged, it is. Perhaps, as Shakespeare commands in the play’s closing speech, they will “Go hence, to have more talk of these sad things.” And so what if the production achieves that goal by protecting them from too much unruly feeling, just as the Capulets aimed to protect Juliet? Probably, the Capulets were right.

Green
Set during Act 2. Karlach needs help fixing her teddy bear and wants to air some grievances about Astarion's deal with Raphael.
He smells hot leather before he smells her blood. As if he needs either to detect her approach; she has the loudest footsteps of any of them. But soon the scent wafts verdantly in through the pinned flap of his tent, bright, grassy, and puckering. Citrus and something young and vegetal, intermingled with the tang of the infernal iron that drives it all. Completely antithetical to the tiefling’s fiery appearance: green.
Karlach clasps her hands behind her back and squats in front of the opening, blocking the heat of the fire he had been basking in. Annoyed, Astarion lays the book he's reading across his chest and looks quizzically at her.
“Hey, fangs! Oh–” she says, noticing his book, "Sorry, am I bothering you?”
"Yes.”
"Haha! You're a funny one. Anyway, um. Listen, I was wondering if you could do me a solid? Tav tells me you're not bad with a needle. Not surprising, I guess, given your propensity for pointy objects."
How could Tav have– Oh . His underwear . Well. Ignoring the means by which his embroidery skill had been revealed, Astarion raises one silver eyebrow at Karlach, bidding her to continue.
“Okay. Promise not to laugh. But do you think you can fix him?" From behind her back, she produces a threadbare stuffed toy; a bear. It's made from a thick-weighted brown knit, worn fuzzy with age, and has two glossy black buttons sewn in for eyes. The lighter colored thread used to attach them gives the impression of Xs for pupils, a dead-eyed stare, which is accurate enough to its current condition: there is a large tear partially beheading the beast, its stuffing leaking out the busted seam.
"His name is Clive,” she says morosely. Clive and Karlach turn their pleading glances on him, and Astarion can't decide who looks more pitiful.
“Where did you even get that thing?"
“I found him," she declares proudly, holding it aloft. "He got left behind in my room at Last Light; all alone, poor little bugger. So I nicked him. Figured his last friend might not be coming back any time soon.”
“Looks like it might have been better off where it was. What happened?"
She rubs at the back of her neck sheepishly. "Well, now that I won't burn him, I was. You know. Hugging him. And then Scratch walked up and wanted to play, and– Scratch is so soft , did you know?– so I was teasing him, which probably wasn't the nicest thing to do to either of them, and Scratch is really fast. And unfortunately for Clive, Scratch’s teeth aren't as soft as the rest of him." She lets out a nervous laugh. "So do you think, maybe, you could help him out?”
“I could ," he replies, propping himself up on an elbow. "I'm just not sure that's the best use of our resources while we're stuck in this… accursed wasteland. And I'm tired of cleaning up that mutt’s messes."
Karlach’s eyes shine beseechingly, lower lip jutting out. Clive bobbles miserably. Astarion grimaces, sits up, and abruptly snatches him from her hands.
"Yay! Thanks, fangs!”
He sighs, digging through his pack for his sewing kit. This is stupid. He's getting a new slash in his overclothes damn near every day, and he doesn't have the materials to spare on a toy .
And yet.
He's not able to find a similar colored thread. “Red is the closest I have," he says, crossing his legs and threading the needle through with crimson.
“That's okay. He'll have a bit of a rugged look– a cool neck scar, like someone else I know."
Astarion frowns and glances up at her. " ‘ Rugged ’ isn't exactly the image I strive to portray.”
“Oh. No, I know. I just meant your scars look cool," she clarifies awkwardly. Somehow, he doesn't think she's talking about the ones on his neck.
Earlier that day, when they'd set out from Last Light, a certain infernal visitor had been waiting in the parlor. Raphael had stripped him bare with a snap of his clawed fingers, revealing the malevolent latticework of scars encircling his back to the entire room. The whole thing had been rather violating– hence why he’s hiding in his tent instead of soaking up the heat from the fire. He curls in on himself and pierces the soft yarn through.
He's quiet as he works, deftly stitching the fabric together as he presses the bear's innards back where they belong. Karlach doesn't seem to know how to cope with silence, bouncing a leg with pent energy, practically sizzling like water boiling in a pot. Eventually, she spills over.
“So how did you get so good at that?" She peers in closer from where she's settled at the threshold of his tent, observing the fine needlework.
He pulls the needle high, closing a stitch. “I've picked up a lot of little skills over the last few centuries. This one has been particularly useful."
“Huh. I always figured you had a tailor or something, with your whole Upper City accent and, well, everything. Who knew you could get your hands dirty.”
The problem is that she really has no idea how dirty they are- or, rather, bloody. Nobody knows about that. Hells, only Tav knows about Cazador, and even then he's spared most of the… finer details.
"Yes, well. I'm full of surprises, aren't I?” he replies cryptically. He's had enough of his secrets revealed today already. “Why do you even keep this thing around?" he asks to change the subject, adjusting the bear on his lap.
"He kinda reminds me of one my mum got me when I was a kid. I was weak to nostalgia and his cute li’l face. Ain't he adorable?” She leans in to poke at the bear’s overstuffed cheeks, and Astarion swats her out of his working space.
"He's a liability, this one. Falling apart at the seams.”
“Aw, c’mon. Like you've never kept anything around for sentimental reasons?"
The scant belongings in Astarion's tent are answer enough; mostly just pillows and various rags from the road, with a few books and pilfered trinkets scattered among them. A useless silver mirror, a few chalices for wine. Nothing sentimental. “No. Not a lot to be sentimental about. I don't remember my childhood."
"O-oh. I'm sorry. I guess it was so long ago, anyway, it would be hard to remember.”
He's pretty sure that's not the reason. "Are you calling me old? I may be immortal, but I'll have you know I'm a very reasonable age for an elf. I'm certainly no relic like Halsin .”
She puts her hands up, seeing that she's dug a hole for herself. "No! Mate, I would never. You look very good for your age. Or, no, not for your age because you're not. Old. It's just. You're, what, two-hundred and fifty? That's older than I'll ever be, or, not me specifically, because, well…”
The words die on her tongue, but what's been left unsaid hangs heavily between them: She doesn't have that much time left . Dammon had given her the news shortly after turning her temperature down from scorching to sweltering . And that's why Astarion is wasting his precious floss on this ridiculous bear, because he knows how awful it would feel to be given pity, but at least he can oblige her the favor she asked.
All of the stuffing has been sewn back inside the bear’s head. Astarion begins to double back to strengthen the new seam, and he looks very intently at his work as he knits his eyebrows together and asks, “How do you do it?"
“How do I do what?" she says, pulling her knees in with her arms and resting her cheek on her bicep.
“You are so… alive . Despite everything. Despite what you've been through.” Even her blood smelled like life, lush and blooming.
"Ha. I dunno. I just can't believe that I've really made it out of Avernus, so, you know, carpe dime or whatever.”
"I just… don't understand. You're going to die.” It's not pity when he says it, only hard truth.
She hugs her knees closer and lets out a shaky breath. “I don't really want to talk about it. Better to just enjoy things while I can. Otherwise I'd just be a ghost already."
He knows all too well how it feels to be a ghost.
“You're not angry? At Gortash, at Zariel?"
Heat flares in her chest, exhausting from the vents on her shoulders and filling the tent with the inferno of her emotions. “Of course I am! I'm right pissed. And if there's anything I can do about it, then both those fuckers will get what's coming to them.”
"Good.”
"I just… have to take every good thing that comes my way for now. I’ve done some not great things in my past. I regret just standing by when Elturel fell. I hurt a lot of people for Gortash that, looking back, seem like maybe they didn't deserve it. But right now, I'm finally more than just a weapon for causing destruction. For the first time in way too long, I can touch people again. And I've got a lot of good people around me who deserve some hugs.” She offers a small smile, but Astarion shifts away minutely.
"Bear’s done,” he says, holding it out for inspection. A vermilion scar marrs the seam between its head and body; it really does look like an injury.
"Aw, Clive, you look great! Glad to see you back with the living. Hey, Astarion, what do you think about adding a detail– giving him his own vampire bite? You did bring him back to life, after all.”
He knows she's trying to make him feel better, but it's doing anything but. "I wouldn't curse him that way,” he says softly, packing up his supplies.
Karlach is uncharacteristically quiet as she fluffs Clive to redistribute his recently reintroduced stuffing, pursing her lips.
"About your master–"
“We don't have to do this." His back is to her, hands in his pack, and he can feel her stare pricking through his clothes where she now knows the scars hide.
“No, that's not fair. Nothing is fair about anything right now. But you talked to me about my shit and I'm returning the favor whether you want it or not."
"I–”
"Mama K is talking now. You can just listen, you don't have to tell me anything if you don't want to.”
Astarion is silent, but he turns and sits back down, eyes downcast like a chastised child.
Karlach continues. "Listen, I don't know anything about your master or how he treated you. But I do know what it feels like to have to serve someone you don't believe in, and to have them fuck up your body without asking. To mark it as their own. I didn't know how to bring this up earlier, but… your scars. The ones on your back. They're in Infernal, aren't they?”
He nods; Tav had been able to identify that, at least, after their… tryst.
"I picked up a little, in the Blood War. Why didn't you come to me? I'd gladly help you out as best I can. You don't have to take this deal, Astarion. You can't trust a devil.”
The thought hadn't escaped him; he figured she might be able to read it. But he wasn't sure she'd be able to decipher the full context, and if he wanted any chance at killing Cazador, then he needed to know as much as he could. And, equally as important, he didn't think he could suffer the shame of anyone at camp knowing the full story. Asking Raphael just seemed the safer option; a fair trade.
"As much as he puffs himself up, he's a cambion, not a devil. And I'm sure he'll respect his end of the bargain. I'm prepared to pay his price, whatever it may be."
“He's a creep who's preying on you because he knows how badly you want it. He's gonna demand something that will just come to bite you in the ass later. That's how it always goes. Please, just let me try. If I can't make sense of it, then go ahead and accept the deal. But let me try."
He’s frozen in indecision, unsure if he can trust her with this. "I’m not sure–”
"You want a sample?” she interrupts, gesturing to the tattooed runes peeking out from under the shoulder strap of her top; it's easy to make out, dark ink contrasting against the sudden glow from within her chest. “This one says fucking Zariel ."
Maybe she understands, he thinks. Maybe he can trust someone else with this. The thin weight of his shirt on his back feels heavier knowing that it and one word are all that stands between him and naked vulnerability. He could just say yes; he could let her look, close himself off to the fear and let himself be lulled by whatever altruistic reasons she claims. But doubt whispers from the back of his mind: she's backed into a corner just like him, if not moreso, and that makes her dangerous . They both want to live, and they're clawing at scraps with all they've got. If she needs his help someday, she'll demand it of him in return. At least the terms of Raphael's deal will be predictable. The cambion’s words echo in his mind: What's better than a devil you don't know? A devil you do.
And there's also the other thing. Astarion is a shitty person and if Karlach truly expects nothing in return, then he doesn't deserve her help. She doesn't even know the depths of his depravity, and he doesn't really feel like sharing. He's ruined, and she's not.
And so, for the first time he can remember when someone was trying to get his clothes off, Astarion says: “No."
"Okay.” She's crestfallen, but to her credit, she doesn't push it.
He expects her to get up and leave now that his task is completed and he's outright rejected her in favor of a devil, but she doesn't. She sits with him a while, her steady warmth radiating over his skin. It feels nice, if he lets himself enjoy it. Clive’s dead eyes peer dolefully at him from within the safety of her embrace.
“If he takes something that hurts you… just know that I'm always down to give a devil a good smack-down. It's kind of my specialty– this tattoo says ‘demonsbane’. Just say the word.”
Astarion thinks the words ring a little hollow, because, from his perspective, taking on Raphael in combat seems like a death sentence, but he appreciates the thought nonetheless. “I can't believe you're sitting here offering up your demon-slaying services while hugging a teddy bear."
"It's only what Clive would want for the person who patched him up.”
"He'd be more useful if he stayed well out of the reach of foul canine beasts in the future.”
"Yeah yeah, I learned my lesson. Thank you Astarion, though, really. I don't have a lot in this world aside from him and you lot so… just doing my best to keep it all together.”
She sets Clive aside and pivots to her knees, moving slowly so as to give Astarion opportunity to escape if he wants to; her tadpole broadcasts her intentions. He warrs briefly with himself but is ultimately unable to convince himself to push her away, and he winds up wrapped in her arms. He knows she's been cooled to a reasonable degree, but he still flinches, because the difference between them is so stark . Her skin blazes against his, even through his shirt, and when he finally brings himself to relax slightly, his cool cheek on her shoulder prickles from the contact. The whirr ing of her mechanical heart is strange in his ears, and all at once, he brings his own arms to grip tight to her shirt; that beating, this warmth could vanish at any moment. She was his only proof that you could go through hell and not come out completely chewed up and broken and bitter, so of course the universe couldn't allow her to slip through unscathed. It wasn't fair– but nothing ever was.
“My… master,” he starts as she pulls away, leaving him feeling bitterly cold from the loss of her. "His name is Cazador. Cazador Szarr."
“Huh. I think I've heard that name before."
“I'm not surprised– the bastard has his claws sunk all over Baldur's Gate. He prefers to exert his influence from the shadows, but he's too ostentatious for it sometimes."
“You know," she says, thinking aloud, “he sounds like another evil arsehole I know. Gortash was always trying to expand his political influence through various shady dealings. Hey, listen. If you won't let me talk you out of that deal with Raphael, then let's make a deal of our own. You help me get revenge on Gortash, and I help you take down Cazador. I mean, I'd probably help out anyway ‘cause it just makes me fume thinking about any of my people getting hurt, but solidarity, yeah?"
Astarion flashes a fanged grin. "Now there's an agreement I can get behind. Blood for blood.” He holds out a hand cordially, and she takes it up with such force that his arm is nearly removed from his shoulder.
"That's what I'm talking about, soldier! Hah– sorry,” she says, noticing the way his face twinged at the power behind her handshake. "Been a long time since I've gotten to do that. Feels nice.”
"It does.”
There's a loud snorfling sound from behind her– she whips her head around. "Scratch! No! You leave Clive alone.” She pulls the bear out of reach of the dog’s curious nose and makes to leave the tent. "Astarion, will you throw the ball for him? He's got too much energy.”
His first instinct is to respond with a resounding No, I won't have anything to do with that filthy creature , but something within him is stirred by his conversation with Karlach. If he had to put a name on it– hope. He decides that he's going to try not to be a ghost any longer. So he throws the ball.

TW: Bullying, Self-Harm, Self-Hatred
Billy Kaplan as Charlie Spring Teddy Altman as Nick Nelson Agatha Harkness as Agnes O'Connor September 19th, 2020 7:01 AM
Spring House, Kent, England
Tori woke up like any other day to get ready for school. She opened the door to the connecting bathroom to see her brother. It startled her a little because he always got ready way before she got up. It would have been hell if she had walked in on him if he wasn't mostly ready.
"Er... Charlie?" Tori asked, and Charlie looked at her almost like he didn't recognize her or his name. He looked behind him before looking back at her. "Charlie, why are you using my eyeliner?"
Charlie looked into the mirror, confused. He looked down at his fingernails and toenails.
"And I see you used my black nail polish to... are you trying out a new look?" Tori said, trying not to judge too much but failing at the same time. Something about looking in the mirror almost made him snap back into it.
"Oh shit..." Charlie widened his eyes and began to panic.
"I mean, uh... you can use it if you want," Tori tried to calm him down, but he was already trying to wash the eyeliner out of his skin, only smudging it around his face. "Charlie, it's okay if you use my stuff. I just think you will get dress-coded," she said as he wore a black cardigan and a ban t-shirt while Truham had a dress code.
"No, I will get bullied again," Charlie said, beginning to have a panic attack. Tori quickly hugged him, guiding him to sit down on the toilet seat while she grabbed her makeup wipes and started to clean off what he smudged. "I-I need to take this off," he said, showing her his black fingernails.
"I know, it's going to be okay," Tori quickly said, showing him the nail polish remover. He nodded and let her take care of it.
"I'm sorry," Charlie said, and Tori nodded. He felt awful and stupid as if everyone was always trying to care for him, and he messed everything up. "Thank you..." he said, and Tori nodded.
He took a look in the mirror and a closer look at his nails to ensure everything was gone before going into his room to change into his school uniform. As he took off the casual clothes, he looked in the mirror and stopped dead in his spot.
He looked down to see cutting scars on his wrist, and they looked like they were a couple of weeks old. When he looked back into the mirror, he felt uncomfortable. The things he was thinking about his body were far worse than any bully could say to him. He grabbed his uniform and turned around to get dressed, refraining from looking at his body.
It feels like time speeds around Charlie, or maybe it was just the nerves of going to the first day of school. He usually was invisible to most whenever he went to school, but he had to ignore the stares at him going in.
He b-lined to the homeroom to start the day so it could be over already. It seemed to have been everyone else's intention, as everyone was sitting at their desks. He looked to the teacher's desk to ask where he was sitting, but he wasn't there. However, he had seen the diagram of the classroom-assigned seating, so he quickly found his name.
He made his way to the desk with his head down, hoping he wasn't sat with an asshole. "Hey," Charlie heard and saw the guy holding his hand for him to shake. "I am Nick Nelson," Nick said, and Charlie widened his eyes.
Charlie had a crush on Nick Nelson for as long as he could remember, but there wasn't recognition as he looked up and met Nick's eyes. Even though Charlie didn't recognize his crush, it was almost like time stopped. His heart had almost stopped, and he could see cartoon hearts in his vision. It looked like Nick had the same sort of reaction.
"I um... hi, I am Billy," Charlie said, and Nick looked at him oddly.
"I thought your name was Charlie," Nick raised an eyebrow. Just a moment ago, he had read it on the seating chart, and he remembered getting anxious because he didn't recognize the name.
"Huh?"
"I thought your name was Charles," Nick said, and Charlie looked at him more confused.
------- "I um... Hi, I am Charlie," Charlie felt almost like he was forced to say this. He felt deja vu even though this was the first time he recalled introducing himself to Nick.
"Oh, cool." Nick smiled at him, noticing that everyone was looking at them. He gulped and got anxious. He leaned in a bit closer so Charlie would focus on him and not the guys staring at them. I like your nails and your eyes... I wouldn't have thought someone would be brave enough to wear that to school," Nick said clearly, and that Charlie's attention.
"Hm?" Charlie raised an eyebrow and looked down to see that his nails were painted black again. He thought back to this morning when Tori had helped him take off his polish and makeup. Did it come back? Charlie knew nothing about makeup or nail polish. Is that something that comes back?
"Hello Class!" A woman said in a sing-song voice, making everyone flinch. She was in the back of the classroom, and no one had noticed. "Take it from me, always make an entrance, kids," she winked at Charlie. "I am Ms. O'Conner. I will be your teacher for the next couple of months," she said, and Charlie raised his hand, "Yes, you with the adorable doll face,"
"Er... okay, um... where is Mr. Ajayi?" Charlie blushed.
"Oh, He is no longer with us," Agnes said morosely, and everyone gasped, "because he went on vacation to Honolulu with Mr. Farouk," she finished.
"Why did you word it like that..." Charlie muttered to himself.
"Alright, boys, let's learn all there is about menstruation," Ms. O'Connor said, and Charlie raised an eyebrow as some of the other boys gagged.
"What is this class?" Charlie whispered to Nick and received a shrug in response. Please Vote, Comment, Add to your reading list, and share with your friends:) Check out my subreddit for my writings r/QuinnLake.
