Diguemo* glances down, hesitant. She's quickly grown accustomed to being around Jonathon. So the idea of leaving the comfort of her new companion is... almost startling. It makes her think of what had only just transpired earlier today. The way he held her and comforted her. The way she felt........... safe. And the strange feelings that had mixed with the bad ones that she actually...... she actually kinda liked those strange feelings. She isnt sure why, though. But somehow.... she doesnt want to leave.

".....thank you," she answers simply. Quietly.

Well, that came out of left field.

“… and if there’s anything I can do to help you avoid that, just ask,” he said gently. “Though surely being a photographer means you make more than enough to sustain your… natural lifestyle?”

His taking her hand sends a searing sensation through, stealing her breath. Diguemo* can feel her start to heart race. She is tense, sat still, but yet she doesnt show any sign of pulling away.

After what seemed to her to be an eternity (it was only a moment or two), her own hand holds his in return. The small action sends a flood of warmth through her soul. She still doesnt know what to make of it, but she is holding this precious moment, figuratively examining it as if it were made of glass as she tries to understand the feelings inside more clearly. Something has shifted- is shifting. And she is holding her breath to see what this strange thing becomes.

(For flirt meme; this is how she flirts. Lol) Nadira looks him in the eye. "I trust you."

Well, here was high praise, indeed.

Jonathan returned her look, a smile on his lips as gentle as his gaze. “Thank you,” he said quietly.

Ooh, another excellent question!! I thank!

Cameron: Hm.... I would probably say cutting off my biological father. It was not an easy decision to make, but he was very toxic and emotionally abusive. So when i finally stopped seeing him, I stopped getting hives and I could finally find peace of mind. Absolutely worth any sacrifices involved.

Symona: I'm not answering that! (Mun insists) UGH, FINE!! Turning to a life of crime. Happy? (mun gives Symona a dubious look. "you're lying through your teeth.") If you dont shut up, I'll cost YOU a great deal and I can promise that YOU will regret.

Unfortunately, Symona refuses to cooperate in this particular interview.

Diguemo: ....leaving the lab.

Diguemo*

Diguemo is a Demi-straight Cis F Homioavain (human bird), default age is 26.

She was created in a rogue lab in Mali (see map below) where they relied on its obscure location and the unremarkability of the building to remain under the radar to escape the governmental eyes, since human experimentation is a completely illegal violation of human rights according to the United Nations.

The scientists are local and the are fluent in two languages: Dogon, plains dialect, the local indigenous language of Mali, and French, the common language of much of Africa, including Mali. To aid in the secrecy of of the experimentation, the scientists refused to teach Diguemo either language soas to limit her ability to reveal anything of significance in the event of being found out or captured. However, they would still need to speak to her. To circumvent this issue, they learned only enough English to communicate the most basic of commands or concepts, such as yes, no, food, come, good, bad, come, go, and so on. But when she was about 10 years old, one of the woman scientists broke the rules and gave her the name Diguemo*.

As a result, Diguemo only learns to speak in a very broken and heavily accented English that speaks of her origin in Mali. She doesnt escape the prison like lab until she is 18, when the authorities finally caught wind of what was happening. The scientists let her go and told her that if she was found by the government, she would be killed. Diguemo took that to heart and avoided all of humanity to the best she extent she could.

Within the following 8 years of total freedom, Diguemo picks up enough English to have a basic conversation, though she tries to avoid talking to anyone in the first place. She is also essentially raised by the wildlife of the world how to survive and through the animals, she gains her concept of how the world works. As a result, her mind set is very simple in the best of ways and human behavior is incredibly confusing to her.

She is a very shy and timid person, very easily startled like the animals that taught her. She is paranoid of all humans and being in the serene wild, she has learned to be very intune to her surroundings, her eyes being quick to pick up everything. She has learned to listen for the silence in nature to pick up on any nearby danger. The presence of her wings makes animals very readily accept her as a part of nature. She is often surrounded by animals in an almost disney princess style and very quickly befriends the local wildlife. It could almost count as a super power.

Going along with her capabilities, Diguemo is capable of transatlantic flights, which she does frequently for the sake of her job as a professional photographer and as a form of recreation. And as a creature of flight, she has a very special ability to understand and comprehend the world from a satellite map type layout- it rivals that of a gps with her ability to guesstimate distances and the exact directions needed. It is almost impossible for her to get lost due to her incredible sense of direction and map like memory.

Going back to her job as a photographer, it was something she picked up from her shameful years of when she had no choice but to steal from humans before she became properly self-sufficient. She was determined to never have to steal again someday and when she found her calling by accident with the camera, she quickly siezed in the opportunity. As a photographer for a Nature magazine in Europe with highly sought after photographs, she is afforded the ability to remain distant from civilization while doing the thing she loves best: hanging out and exploring nature. Her photos sell incredibly well since she is able to get closer to the wild animals than anyone else- especially the more rare and timid species -and she is capable of getting incredible views and angles thanks to her ability to fly.

All of this money allows her to own a very sizable piece of land where she built herself a small house, and to buy a private security system to surround the perimeter of her land. These cameras are linked directly to her cell phone that is used solely to moniter her perimeter to ensure her safety. She can survive on the limited income since most of her needs are met by the wilderness around her.

So how does she do all of this while keeping her wings a secret? Diguemo's staple clothing is a very oversized hoodie, with the hood pooled strategically around her neck to hide the tops of her folded wings, and a black hiking backpack to help disguise the bulge on her back that the wings make. She takes these items with her everywhere she goes. And as far as the photography goes, she only goes into town once a week or so to check the mail and to get her next assignment. She can always mail her assignment in from wherever she happens to be in the world.

*Diguemo's heart stops, her eyes going wide and this sinking pit in her stomach almost makes her feel sick. She stares in the direction of the person who has made such a threat. Her beautiful wings are clamped tight against her back, instinctively backing herself into a corner to protect the appendages that she values more than any other part of her body.

"....What are you meaning?" Diguemo asks. Her voice betrays the dread, the deep seated fear. The horror of what will come- the fear of the past returning to haunt her, imprisoning her once again as she desperately tries to think of a way out of this mess she finds herself in.

Starters/plot ideas for Diguemo!

Whumpee with wings

- Being grabbed and manhandled by the wings

- Being mocked or punished for the bulky wings getting in the way or knocking things over

- Chains going through wings

- Ripping feathers off

- Being too malnourished or sick or injured to fly, or just not being able to fly, and being shamed for it

- Whumpee is trapped somewhere with an open ceiling. If their wings were working, or if they weren't tied up, they could fly out so easily.

- Twisting wings to uncomfortable or bone-breaking positions

- Human doctor not knowing how to treat wing injuries

- Winged whumpee raised by people without wings, so they never learn how to properly care for their wings

- Teammates who don't know much about wings, expecting whumpee to be able to fly carrying someone else, or lift into the air from the ground when they need a high starting point, or bend their wings in ways they can't be bent

- Whumper clipping whumpee's wings. Probably painful and likely permanently preventing them from flying, or at least making it much harder. Like having arm sliced with scissors.

- Cutting wings off

- Whumpee shamed for taking up too much space with their wings, or for needing more food than most humans to support the extra limbs

- Whumpee who is unable to clean their wings shamed for their wings being dirty

- Winged whumpee dehumanized for not being fully human

- Whumpee with hurt or missing wings instinctively trying to fly, then remembering they can't

- Whumpee who lost wings having to adapt to not flying, or moving back to their hometown of winged humanoids and not being able to go most places anymore

- Wide wingspan means more surface area, making whumpee easier to shoot

- Having to hide wings or bind them to their body for a disguise; probably makes whumpee slower and hurts a lot

- Whumpee being the only winged humanoid around, so hiding from Whumper is much harder

- Winged whumpee being hunted like a regular bird

- Whumpee being shot mid-flight, falling from the air

♪ - How do you decide on your muse’s dialogue? 

Oooh, good question!

I like to get inside my muse's heads to see what makes them tick. I guess in a way I kinda become them as I reply. Usually the first thing that comes to mind is the most realistic way they reply, but once in a while, I'll notice that it sounds a little too much like one of the other girls. lol

Cameron is the easiest one for me to give dialogue to, as she is the most like myself out of the 3. So when one of them is ooc, they usually end up sounding like Cameron instead.

Symona is the sassiest and a bully, but she also tends to keep things short and sharp where she can, even when she is laughing and enjoying herself. So its a challenge at times to not let her sass become too long winded or sophosticated sounding. I have to try to remember she lives in New York and doesnt particularly care about how right her grammar is. Keeping my occassional southern out can be a bit of a pain, tho. lol

Diguemo is a challenge in her own right due to her verbal origins deriving almost entirely from non-native english speakers who deliberately chose a language they were not actually fluent in to communicate with her. And since her early days she was unable to fly for extended periods of time, she picked up most of her english and grammar from the locals.... which.... wasnt much. ....At all. That said, she picked up a lot of the accent of the dialects and her speech reflects that as well. So I have to find a balance between making her dialogue understandable while properly conveying that her speech is not fluent. This becomes especially difficult in rescue threads, but the challenge is well worth the struggles. Many amazing threads have come from enduring the tough early days.

Going along with the above dialect and personalities, I have to also consider the emotions of each and what they are experiencing. For Cameron, anxiety makes her incapable of holding a proper conversation and her rational brain flies out the window. Her verbal dialogue is very limited while her internal dialogue sky rockets. For Symona, when she gets anxious, she panics and turns to anger and gets very mouthy. At least, until the angered panic turns to straight up terror. Symona does not handle emotions very well. at all. Amd for Diguemo, anxiety means withdrawing or going completely non-verbal altogether.

So my dialogue choices are mix of a lot of things. Its a combination of gut instinct replies while taking in the context and understanding the deep innerworkings of each girl.
