RANDOM FACTS / HEADCANONS ABOUT THE MUSE
tagged by: @andryuska! tagging: @alleywaysbelow @bravegroupie / @improvstyle @liableheart @cursedhim @warclckes @nahphelia and anybody else who wants to!
i. frederick will move to geneva later in life. once he feels like he does not want to work as a dean anymore and neither want to uphold the transylvania estate, he will move to the house he owns at the edge of geneva. not only does the house hold importance to him due to a connection to his family that he chose himself, no one else but him ( and the last owner he bought it from ) knows about its existence, which means frederick can spend the latter half of his life on his own, secluded, and away from all the things that used to haunt him and that he can’t stand anymore. new york has gotten more suffocating the older he got and transylvania lost most of its meaning with frau blucher and igor’s passing / leaving. frederick also dies in geneva, but he is going to be buried in the same grave nicholas’ tombstone is set on.
ii. frederick is not really much of a ‘ modern ’ music lover. he prefers opera and classical music and his favourite pieces to listen to include ‘le nozze de figaro’ ( mozart ), ‘don pasquale’ ( donizetti ) though he prefers donizetti in genereal, ‘don carlos’ ( verdi ), ‘la boheme’ ( puccini ), ‘die fledermaus’ ( strauss ) and ‘carmen’ (bizet). he prefers italian opera over anything else, mostly; but also has a soft spot for ballets, including romeo and juliet and swan lake. he frequently visits the met opera when he’s living in new york.
iii. the scars on frederick’s hands and back ( especially lower back ) don’t really fade with time since he continues to use these spots for experiments and lab work. he usually prefers testing things on / drawing blood from himself since he does not like to have others meddle with his work. on the other hand, though, he often finances other scientist’s and doctor’s works or research projects. it is one of the few ways he spends his inherited money.
iv. frederick does not see any location he ever lived in / frequented after nicholas’ death as ‘ home ’. the concept of a home died with nicholas and it takes frederick well into his late twenties to accept this fact. it is when he starts to emotionally detach himself from new york, as well, which manifests itself later in his inability to build a genuine connection to elizabeth and their planned marriage, since the concept of a ‘ home ’ does not exist for him, especially not when tied to new york. this goes hand in hand with his acceptance of never finding real happiness in this life.
v. frederick is not only very good at stitching people up since he had to be on top of that skillset when becoming a neuro-surgeon, he is also very talented at stitching. when he has to kill some time during office hours or when an experiment is happening and he can’t do much but sit and wait, he tends to sew or stitch things together like his lab coat ( numerous stitches ) or other, smaller textiles. overall, he’s got very steady hands. ( and other times he spends his time solving crossword puzzles. ) it relaxes him.
