I just realized
If Kazuki can hack into some government system to forge paperwork about his past and employment....
He can almost definitely get the moms group chat logs. This man could be scrolling through the most wild gossip about his little family at any time.
The real question is if he's strong enough to scroll through the entire thing.
#Buddy Daddies#kazuki kurusu#rei suwa#miri unasaka#I think it's funnier if it's mostly benign#like most of the moms coordinating school events and get togethers#and then just randomly like a wall of text speculating about their relationship#followed up with that reminds me the bake sale is tuesday#followed by who tops? and who does her hair it's cute

The most famous event organizers took ideas for the new season in a royal presentation
On a sunny Tuesday afternoon, the most famous event organizers and wedding planners, Kristina gathered at one of the most luxurious restaurants in the capital, Imperial, to crown the end of the summer holiday season and discuss 2019. Seasonal news. Luxurious reception
Wedding planners, event organizers, famous photographers immersed themselves in true royal luxury and embarked on a journey full of culinary discoveries.
The spaces were decorated with floral arrangements and an impressive ice sculpture. Guests were treated to one-bite snacks created by the restaurant’s chefs, oysters opened in front of guests, and real Spanish paella with rabbit and lobster baked here. Each stage of the celebration was accompanied by ever new gourmet surprises.
The culmination of the celebration became a spectacle in the most luxurious banquet hall - an impressive 25-kilogram cake, created by the restaurant's confectioners from the highest quality natural ingredients. The atmosphere was given aristocratic elegance by a violin and harp concert.
What awaits our celebration and event attendees in 2019?
The exclusive format of the celebration not only provided inspiration but also dictated the fashion of the 2019 event season. who participated in the event, admitted that it is quite difficult to surprise the wedding organizer. However, at this event, she was most impressed by the exceptional form of presentation and the dishes and drinks, as some of them have not been tasted yet.
“It simply came to our notice then. It was a pleasure not only to taste the works of the chefs, but also to communicate with colleagues and share the innovations of the season, According to her, in the coming years, more and more attention will be paid to thematic music, live flowers and lighting that becomes an effective decoration.
who has worked with Imperial several times, admitted that this time the presentation and preparation of the waiters for the event was especially good. The wedding planner reminded her colleague that future brides should gradually forget the garlands of light bulbs - a variety of light projections are coming into vogue, which can decorate not only the walls, but also trees and other non-traditional holiday spaces. One of the first Lithuanian wedding planners emphasized that next season the style of the royal nursery decor, created from small flowers. Interestingly, celebrations are returning to fashion at tables laden with feasts.
An individual menu is very important
points out that more and more people are beginning to appreciate the classic holiday format, with French and American service styles prevailing. Celebrating the most important celebrations of life, people have the opportunity to attend them dressed up and stretched out.
More and more customers planning weddings or solid anniversaries, congresses of executives of famous foreign companies, feasts of princesses and presidents, want an individual menu. Every time, the chef creates new dishes according to the vision of the guests or offers gourmet dishes tested by the most discerning guests.
The classic quality of service is evaluated
Where efforts are made to adhere to time-tested classic service values. Always wearing white gloves, impeccable manners and a solid knowledge of the world of gastronomy and drinks are just a small part of the royal protocol.
Banquet or buffet?
This is one of the first questions to be answered by the customer who wants an elegant event. "The 2018 season showed that certain events should not be squeezed into one frame or another,"
The format of the banquet under the Royal Protocol is the most appropriate for the reception of the President of Italy. However, the dinner of the European executives of the world-famous company can already acquire buffet elements: before sitting at the tables, guests can lift their glasses and enjoy a one-bite snack.
For more dynamic guests, a celebration can be held, which could be described as a fusion of a buffet and banquet. Oysters are opened in front of the guests, paella is baked, and one-bite snacks are served - these buffet dishes correspond to the first dishes of the banquet. Later, guests can sit down to the main course and enjoy the chef’s roasted marbled beef, Patagonian perch or other delicacies. A sweet table with impressive cakes, a 3-liter pyramid of Jeroboam champagne, cocktails made by a professional bartender - make every holiday special.
Learn how to organize events
What exactly is event planning? This question is actually broken down into two questions: What types of events exist? And, what is event planning? Some classify them according to the size, content and purpose of the event, target groups or even specific goals. In general, special events are considered for the following purposes: EVENTS OF EDUCATIONAL NATURE - conferences, congresses, seminars COMMERCIAL EVENTS - fairs, sampling, promotional sales, presentation of products or services CORPORATE EVENT - shareholders' meetings, press conferences, celebrations and events public images, events to improve stakeholder loyalty POLITICAL EVENTS - meetings, congresses, conventions, rallies of political parties and election campaigns, elections ... CULTURAL EVENTS - exhibitions, concerts, performances, festivals, tourist events and theme events sporting events - competitions, sports-related openings, grant or final parts CHARITY EVENTS - for social benefit Source: Adapted from the Section of event organizers at the Slovenian Advertising Chamber
What is EVENT PLANNING? Conducting research, creating the form of the event, finding a destination or. space, arranging food, decor and entertainment, planning transport to and from the event, sending invitations to participants, arranging the necessary accommodation for participants, coordinating the activities of event staff, on-site supervision, sponsorship plans, conducting event evaluations…
Why hire an EVENT ORGANIZER? When hosting your first event and trying not to incur additional costs, hiring an event organizer may seem like an unnecessary expense. But this is not the case. I enclose some surprising reasons why to hire an event planner.
REASON # 1 TIME IS MONEY - how long would it take you to research everything you need to shake the organizer out of your sleeve? REASON # 2 SAVE MONEY - long-term collaborations with exceptional organizers bring bonuses REASON # 3 THE EVENT WILL LEAVE THE IMPRESSION OF PERFECT - is it really necessary to learn everything on your own? REASON # 4 THERE WILL BE NO DESTINATION PROBLEMS - how many times a year do you prepare events to know all the pros and cons of certain locations for your event, as you know everyone always offers only the best. REASON # 5 THE BEST PEOPLE WORK FOR YOU - probably we all like to work with the best and your view of the organizer means I can not worry, everything is as it should be. REASON # 6 RELAXATION - the feeling and belief that everything is under control, that you are a host as befits brings relaxation and believe me we all like to chat with a host who is calm and does not run here and there and arranges unimportant matters for us guests.
If you want to ask me for an individual workshop, consulting in your company or have any suggestions for cooperation, I will be happy to answer.

Friday Faves
Hi friends! Happy Friday! What are you up to this weekend?? Anything fun on the agenda? We had a road trip planned, but we’re undecided on whether or not we’ll go. Miss P came down with a cold, and has been up all night most nights this week, so fingers crossed she feels much better this morning. I’d love to hear what you have going on! Since the weather is cooling down, I’ve got the itch to sign up for some 5ks. I might walk most of it, but I think it will feel so good to get out there and shake my legs out.
It’s time for the weekly Friday Faves party! It’s always fun to compile this list each week and feature some of the things that made me smile. I really enjoy hearing what you’re eating, wearing, cooking and reading, too, so please shout out some faves in the comments section. Happy Fri-YAY.
Birthday celebrations:
Miss P had a low-key birthday since she was under the weather, but we still sang, “Happy Birthday” with a cupcake and candle. I’m holding off on giving her bigger bday gift – a scooter and helmet – until she’s feeling better, since she’ll undoubtedly want to take it for a spin around the driveway.
For the Pilot’s birthday on Tuesday, we had an excellent family dinner at Friend’s,
and then came home for dump cake. It makes the house smell SO AMAZING, and each time we celebrate his birthday, I tell myself I need to make it more often. Liv went crazy for it, too.
Halloween festivities:
Livi had a cake decorating contest at her school, so we put together this pumpkin cake. The rule was that the parents could help with baking, but not the decorating. (And, as always, many parents do not follow the rule haha.) I was determined to let her do it herself, and she made the most gorgeous pumpkin cake. We made spice cake for the base, using pumpkin instead of oil, and topped it with cream cheese frosting. She was so proud of her cake.
She also had a little fall festival at her school! They had lots of games set up and a cake walk (<— our fave).
Fashion + beauty:
This mask (from Thrive Market).
A reader friend mentioned that I should try the purple Andalou mask when I professed my love for the pink rose one a couple of weeks ago. She promised it would make me look 27, and since I’m inching towards 33, I thought I’d give it a whirl. It’s AMAZING. It made my skin feel smooth and bright, and there’s the bonus of looking like a total creeper while the sheet mask is on, and totally freaking out the Pilot. Wins all around.
Mules! When I saw that these were back in style a couple of years ago, they reminded me SO MUCH of the shoes my teachers used to wear in elementary school. At the same time, I was like, “Well… they look kind of comfy.” I ordered this pair; they’re super comfortable, and perfect with embellished or destroyed jeans and a sweater.
Speaking of sweaters, I want to curl up and live in this drapey cardigan. After the one from the Nordstrom sale was back ordered – I was trying to be patient but it was from July- I canceled it and picked up this one instead. It’s very soft, the perfect light gray, and a longer cut.
I’ve worn it a few times this week.
Recipes + cooking:
Green pan. I’ve been trying to reduce toxins in our lives, especially in our skincare/beauty products and kitchen tools, and was intrigued by these Green Pans. We had some nonstick pans that I’d been trying to ditch, but I wanted to make sure this one worked just as well. I’m definitely going to start slowly adding to the collection and swapping out for these. They’re nonstick, heat evenly, and don’t emit toxins into the food you’re cooking from the coating.
I need to make some chili and this cornbread.
Cheers to these.
This vegan cake is calling our names.
I’m bringing back these pumpkin protein pancakes this weekend.
Good reads:
Couple goals.
Ways to get better sleep.
All the feels.
Fitness:
80s workout costumes.
20-minute power yoga flow video.
5 moves to add to your ab workout.
So, tell me friends: are you dressing up for Halloween? What about your kiddos or pets?
xo

An introduction
I was asked by many friends before leaving NZ if I was going to write a blog. Having never done this before I thought it might be a good idea to give it a go even though I’m no writer, and am very techno challenged. And I have to wonder who would actually be bothered to read it anyway. But thanks to Alenka, who patiently tried to set me up one night before we left Auckland, I’m making a start. And Rebecca, who spent a little bit of time with us on the boat when we first arrived. So here goes…
Making a dream come true takes a lot of hard work…
It must be a ‘time-of-life’ thing – having a dream to cruise around the Med. We follow in the wake of many. It’s a time in ones life when your children are independent, there are no grandchildren to tug at your heart strings, the family pet has died (RIP Bessy) which also reminds me … without wanting to sound flippant, but both sets of parents have long passed, meaning no elderly dependents. We are free, in the most fabulous way. It’s a tangible feeling that both Chris and I feel. What gave us the final nudge was concluding the sale of our business last year. Although Chris remains a director for the time being, it accelerated our plans to escape the NZ winter.
Having spent last year researching boat models and options, which involved two trips to Europe to view vessels for sale between Spain, Italy, and Greece, we settled on a Ferretti 80 RPH (raised pilot house). It’s a production boat built for the Mediteranean waters, so should be easier to re-sell, it had the right amount of cabins; four, each with their own head (bathroom) so our friends and family could join us from time to time. It has crew quarters that are not too cramped – and which now house two crew. And it was in Greece. Where a huge piece of my heart still resides. Having spent many years here in my younger life.
She is far from being classified a Super Yacht – she’s more of a large family motor launch. We have renamed her Awanui. It is a beautiful sounding Maori name. And we were told that we needed to have a Maori name with at least two “A”s in it? Not sure exactly why? (Graham?) Anyway it looks lovely sign-written on the aft. Awanui means a large conch shell – or big river – we choose to think of it as the large shell. Not many big rivers around here.
We arrived on the 4th June 2017. Awanui has been residing in a little marina an hour north of Athens, called Nea Ataki. We have employed Captain Kostas, mainly as he lives here and overlooks the marina so it is easy to winter the boat in this little village. He has also had many years experience cruising all around the Med. So he may not be the young Greek God-like specimen I was hoping might take the helm – we’ve gone for experience instead. And he’s delightful.
So too is our Deckhand Essham. Who couldn’t be more sincere in his efforts to be helpful. Hesham is Egyptian, and has a young family living there to whom he remits all his wages. It makes you realize how precious employment is here and how big the sacrifices made, to ensure a steady income. Ironically our OE is coinciding with our daughters’, although she has noted the irony of her working in the refugee camp whilst weekending on the “luxury” boat.
It was by pure coincidence that her work with the NGO, Lighthouse, placed her in Ritsona, which is only a few miles from this Marina in Nea Ataki. She has been there for a month now and will join us for a week later in the Summer when her placement finishes.
Bex farewelling us before work.
Rebecca took us to her favourite Taverna in Chalkida, a great local spot. Although...clearly no need to book ahead!
Our first week in Greece involved fitting out the boat with all the toys we know we will enjoy over the coming months. We now have two foldup E-Bikes, two paddle boards, and two kayaks (the E bikes had to be sent from the UK because when researching Greece vendors from NZ, we simply got no response from the sports shops there despite many promises - so we ended up having to deal with a UK sports shop.
As we are not a Greek Boat, and VAT is not paid so we have a Transit Log. This means we cannot stay in Med longer than 6 months a year. We must have the Transit Log signed and stamped by the Customs Department and the Port Police before we can go cruising. But first we had to pay the electricity bill from the Marina.
This gave us a taste of Greek Beaurocracy.
To pay the electricity bill Chris went into Chalkida with Captain Kosta to the Port Harbour Masters Office. Capt Kosta marched Chris into a Board Room where a meeting was in full swing, and introduced him to the Mayor of Nea Atarki, the Mayor of Chalkida, the Head of the Port Authority and a couple of other Directors. After that slightly embarrassing interlude Chris then spent about 20 minutes trying to pay the bill. Behind a desk were three girls to take the 173 Euros. One talked, one computed the invoice, and one took the money.
Then a drive to the Customs Office to get the Transit Log signed. They went to the second floor where the Transit Log was filed and filled in our departure details. During that process the Customs Official went downstairs to the first floor, twice, to photocopy the documents and returned. Finally he sent Chris downstairs to get a stamp and signature from the Receptionist, who then handed them over to her Boss who entered Chris’s passport details into his computer, and signed and stamped them again. Chris then returned to the 2nd floor where the original Customs Official wrote an invoice for 40 Euros and sent them next door to the Cashier. The Cashier stopped his game of Sudoku to process the payment and kindly gave Chris an apricot to eat while he was doing it. Having eaten the apricot and paid the 40 Euros, Chris had to return to the Customs Officer again with his receipt and finally the Transit Log was handed over. But it doesn’t stop there.
Next stop was the Port Police, which was in another building a short drive away. Chris submitted the Transit Log to the Port Police who then wrote our departure details into a large ledger book on the counter. More stamping and signing - until finally they were free to go !!
We then stocked the pantry and the freezers. Captan Kosta drove us to his favourite places – one being the butcher who has 5 sons all of whom help to run the family butchery, and the farm that supplies the meat. There were photos of the cattle and their farm on the walls and we got to choose our cuts of meat from the whole beast. They chopped it up there and then. We were told that the farm is totally organic, which was pretty obvious, and that the animals are very happy. We like that.
The family farm - happy family of cows.
Choosing the eye fillet.
The next day, on Tuesday June 13th, we set off from Nea Ataki and motored a little way up the island of Evia to a little village called Limini. Absolutely delightful. We have now christened the E-bikes (I’m in love with my little Red bullet – goes like a rocket) and rode up to a lookout then back down to the town to buy fresh bread, pastries (naughty) and rock melon (peponi) for breakfast. Past a local fisherman beating his catch of Octopus on the rocks. Cleaning and tenderizing them. He was very happy to show us the biggest one – he had many.
Taken Capt. Kostas spot already!
Octopus fisherman in Limni.
Limni port and (below) town.
It is now Sunday afternoon, we are relaxing on the boat awaiting the arrival of out first guests from New Zealand. Rebecca and her workmate Anita drove from the refugee camp on Friday to Agios Konstandinos for the weekend. We motored around the bays to Agios Yeoryios. We had a great day Saturday soaking up the sun, swimming and paddle boarding and topped it off with freshly caught sardines for dinner, beautifully prepared by Hesham.
Hesham giving Anita a lesson on sardine prepartion.
The girls sun baking.
Chris overlooking arrival in Friday nights spot (Agios Yeoryios).

[ROUGH DRAFT FROM BOOK]
[“Mid August to Early September, I met a first cousin that I had no idea existed. She’s my aunt’s daughter. I met her by facebook, via my sister’s knowledge of our family history. This summer, we went down to Southwest Louisiana for the first time in a few years. The surpise came to us [via Jameson]nwhen our aunt left us a few things of hers. She left me her old recipes. As a little girl, I took to making dessert. By 10, I was baking cakes and pies. There was a time, when I would sale pies and pastries for extra money for college. It was through Jameson that my sister was informed of relatives in Long Beach. Yvonne and I had a conversation over coffee and that is when I reached out to her. She has three children who are around my childrens age. Her eldest is about three years older then my oldest son. Her youngest and my youngest are like wonder twins! Those two are so much alike that they could’ve been separated at birth. They all get along well but those two are two peas in a pod but I digress. Faye’s story is that she and my aunt moved out here early on and stayed with our relatives in Sacramento. They eventually settled in Long Beach. She’s been in California since she was 10 and was pretty candid about the move. Her and my aunt had been struggling in the Bayou State. In poverty, they kept contact with our cousins in Sacramento. That came in handy with the transition when aunt Clarisse decided it was time for a change. She lived with my mothers cousin in Sacramento while she studied to become a therapist. They eventually settled in Long Beach and have been there sense. It was through Faye that I got a bit of insight as to the dismantling of the family relationships……………..”]
It was an overcast morning as Abram’s last class for the day ended. "Long weekend begins now!" he said as he headed back to his dorm room. As he arrived to his dorm, he noticed that his roommate was already packed and ready to go. "You don't waste any time do you?"
“nope" Ricardo said. “You need to do the same”
After Abram packed, the two of them decided to go to get a bite to eat.
“Let’s go to that taco joint down the road”
“Good idea”
At lunch time, Ricardo has loaded his taco salad with shredded cheese, sour cream, guacamole, and pinto beans.
Ricky wasn’t naive to Louisiana culture. His dads people were from the St. Charles Parish and his great grandmother arrived in LA during the 50s. His complexion could be described as light tan color with fine hair. As there food arrived, they figured they had about an hour to eat and gather their bags.
After a response confirming the message he called the Uber. After eating, the pair waited outside for 15 minutes before Uber arrived. After returning to the dorm, Abram grabbed his MP3 player, his suitcase, and his phone charger and the two headed out. Once their ride arrived, they wasted no time. Stopping for gas only once. Their trip ended in LA a quarter after 6:00. They arrived at Abe’s house around 7:00pm. Yvonne was looking out of the kitchen window at the time. Surprised, she happily walked out and hugged her son.
They sat for a bit with Yvonne at the kitchen counter making small talk. Wanting to know Ricardo a bit better she asked him his major
As they were carrying on their conversation, Zach and Phil returned with the food. Phil being caught off guard blinked momentarily before realizing that his son was in from college.
After they ate, Ricardo decided that he needed to let his parents know that he was in town. “I’m gonna head out” he said shook Phil and Zach’s hands. I’ll see you all tomorrow, if that’s okay”. “Sure” Yvonne said as Abram walked him out. After watching him exit the driveway, Abe decided to put his bag in his room before talking with his parents.
Later that night after everyone had showered and Abram got comfortable in his room, Phil knocked on the door. “Come on in” Abe said as he closed his laptop. “Hey son, you settled in?” “Sure did”-Abram responded. Abram hadn’t seem his bed since June, not to mention he missed the Privacy that this bedroom allowed him versus the dorm room where his bedroom was the size of a shoe box and the walls were paper thin. He couldn’t have a phone conversation w/o someone banging through the doors. Masturbation or sex was out of the question.
Abe is kind of a homebody, just the fact that he went away for college is a surprise. Granted it’s about six hours away. He spent the rest of his night watching movies on his laptop before dozing off. Yvonne went to his room and cut the light off, leaving the door slightly open when she left. He got up around 1:00 am to get a cup of water before going to back to bed. Around 9:00 am, he woke up and met Yvonne on the porch. “What’s on your agenda today?” she asked.
“I’m gonna get in my car and ride! Haven’t had my car in months! I’m having lunch with a buddy and then going to get home in time to help you get ready for company tonight.”
“Be careful out there, traffic’s been nuts and police are everywhere”
“Duly noted”
He ate breakfast before taking a short run. Upon his return, he took a shower and got dressed. His outfit consisted of a pair of dark khaki shorts, an orange polo and a pair of Sperry shoes. He sat at the house for a couple of hours and talked with his mom about school and what he’d like to do when he got out. He expressed concerns about the job market when he got out and the worth of his bachelor’s degree. He got in his car for the first time in months and turned the engine on, letting the car warm up for about five minutes before taking off. He plugged his iPod in, turned the air on savoring the ride anticipating the freedom once he would be able to bring his car on campus. He met Ricardo and Vincent downtown where they’d eat lunch.
“I’m in the mood for a burger” Vincent said
“How about that grill over there?” Abe said, reminding them that he didn’t want to overdo it as he would be eating with family tonight. They walked to the grill, being relatively early, they had no trouble getting a table. Abe ordered the smoked turkey sandwich before breaking the ice for table talk.
Back home, Phil and Quincy were preparing supper. They decided to put steak and chicken on the pit with mashed potatoes a garden salad. Deja made a confetti cake and as well as a chocolate cake.
“So how you cooking those steaks” Quincy asked.
“Medium well” Phil said.
Phil managed to get a good deal from the newspaper. Abram was rather simply to please. A good steak or Mexican food was always a preference of his.
“So Abe liking college so far?”
“Yeah, so far so good. He says he gets along with his roommate”
“Has he picked a major?”
“Not yet, but he was talking about Business”
“Good deal”
“Man what about you? What’s the job search like now?”
“I do a little merchandising, picked up some work mystery shopping now.”
“Any bites?”
“Talking to someone in the hospital about possibly clerking”
Quincy decided to go in the house and get a beer as Phil flipped the steaks. As he came back outside to resume the conversation, Phil asked how that connection came to be about.
“Well going to the VA office to fill out some paperwork initially I spoke with a woman who works as a janitor in the evenings. She put in a word at the hospital she cleans at. Call was unexpected”.
He got a text as he was talking “gotta take this”
He called and it was the woman from the hospital. “Uh huh, yes. Okay. Thank you”
He called Deja, “I got a job”
“I’ll start In a week, lady told me that if I want it it’s mine. So there you have it”
“That’s great babe”
“Well it’ll be something until I can get a better paying one. Anyway I’m gonna go pick up the kids. You heard from your sister?”
“Yep she’s in San Francisco, they’ll be here in a couple of hours”
Quincy left the house to get the kids from school. He dreaded the long line that he’d encounter due to the time he left. After picking up the children, he returned to Phil’s house around 4:00 PM. Zach had managed to hitchhike a ride from a friend in P.E.
“Hey pop”
“Good evening son, how was have a good day at school?”
“It was okay I guess, got a current event assignment in Geography. Due Tuesday”
While Phil was making small talk with Zach,Quincy made the revelation that he just secured employment.
“Good deal”
“Well I’m gonna go to my room for a bit.”
“Company’s coming at 5”
“I know, I remember”
In his room, Zach decided to put together a playlist and crank out the music for a bit before Faye arrived. He returned outdoors later on to help Faye with some items in her car. Quincy said. Ian and Malachi caught up over the last couple weeks with Zach, while Junior and Darius went inside for a bit. Abram, Ricardo, and Vince were sitting on the sofa as the company while company begin to arrive. Walking outside, Abram noticed some unfamiliar faces.
“Hey Abe, this is your mother’s cousin”
“Hi, cousin Faye”
“Abram”
“You doing okay?”
“Yes ma’am”
“It’s nice to finally put a face. Your mama has been talking about you for the last two weeks”
“Good right?”
The boys were on the porch where Ian asked “is that our cousin?”
“Yea that’s Abe” Zach said
“Howdy Howdy!” Abe said to Malachi as he walked up. After greeting Malachi with a handshake and a hug, Ian introduced himself.
“How’s it going man?”
“Good”
“So how are y’all related to us?”
“Our mom and your mom are first cousins”
“This is going to be an interesting conversation later, but nice to meet you”
“I have two sisters and a brother, they’re inside”
“QJ’s inside too” Malachi interjected. Abram went inside, to get a soda and say hello.
”Junior! Whats up?”
“Hey Aundrea” he said followed by a hug, before introducing himself to the other three “I’m Abram”
"Nice to meet you three. Ricky and Vincent”
“Hi”
He then washed his hands and decided to grab a Dr. Pepper. “We’ll probably be eating in a little bit”
“Good!” QJ exclaimed “I’m starving”
After the rest of the company arrived and welcomed Abram home, there was a prayer, and then the meal was served. Steak, chicken, potatoes, salad and two desserts to choose from.
“Y’all remember that ice cream machine that uncle Pete used to have?” Faye asked.
“Yeah, he normally used that around summer time. He’d use a little ice, milk, almond oil. The texture was kind of funny. Almost like a sorbet” Yvonne laughed.
The evening was filled with laughs and eats. Abe was pretty simple to please. Food, snacks, kids hanging out. After the kids ate, they decided to take a walk.
“I’ll go with them” Abe said. “Come on yall”
After the kids and teens left, Deja asked about the relatives in Sacramento. “We’re trying to get around to meeting them in the next few months”. Clarissa said.
15 minutes later, the kids were in the front yard with two cop cars following closely behind them. “Is everything okay?” A concerned Quincy asked. “We received a complaint about a suspicious group of black kids roaming the streets” the officer said. “No, this is my son and his friends. These are my nieces and nephews”. He then instructed them to go back to the backyard. Quincy stood out there with the officers and explained that his nephew was in town for the weekend. “I’m glad that you allowed them to prove themselves instead of taking matters into your own hands. Thank you officer”
Inside the Malachi and Aundrea were sitting down Yvonne and Abe cane in. “I’m glad that you all made it home. This situation could have ended completely different. I dream of a time when this won’t be an problem. Maybe in the year 3000 when we are all the color of a brown paperback, that will be so. In the meantime, we have to continue to h e these talks with you. We’d be doing a disservice otherwise. I wouldn’t instruct you to behave any differently. Don’t make any sudden movements. You should be almost motionless. Abe, I’m telling this to you too when you’re out there in San Francisco. Y’all can go back outsid now, go get a piece of cake.”
Ricardo and Vincent decided to eat a piece of cake and head home.
“I’m gonna drop them home and I’ll be back” Abe said.
The ride was relatively quiet, “y’all okay?”
“Yeah, I’m Good” Vincent affirmed
“How about your cousins?” Ricardo added. Abram assured them that all was well, but he did say that his mom informed him of the possibility of this happening. She even gave me a lecture before I went on my run this morning. After dropping Ricardo off, he brought Vincent home. He greeted his parents as he haven’t seen them in a while and wanted to touch bases. He stayed for about 1/2 hour before ending his night back home.
He returned home where everyone had come inside for the evening. “Did you have a good time?” Deja asked
“Yes I did, thank you”. He enjoyed tonight despite the incident. He then joined them on a watching television show
“Is everyone else alright?”
“Yes son, all’s good”
Miriam drove up and as she went to the kitchen to fix a plate, Abe told her “You missed some crazy stuff today”

First Journal Entry of the year!
Starting off the year was nothing like expected but at the same time I knew exactly what was going on, a lot of things were the same but we had a few things change such as starting to take act again and not having proof Zuniga as my teacher anymore. I was really excited to see some familiar faces and get back into routine, but when we took our first CAS class I realized that this project was going to be much greater than what I intended it to be. I sat down and immediately thought about everything that was going on and got a little to ahead of myself, so I had to take a breath and write everything out to get my thoughts in order. The first thing I did was call comaco to find out about the pump I need to finish gathering all my materials, so I called their main office in Huacas and they referred me to a bunch of people and at the end this man gave me his personal number to be able to describe in more detail what i needed exactly. I sent him pictures of my plans but he didn’t quite understand so he told me to come in and describe exactly what I need in person. I plan on doing that this Tuesday September 11th after school. I was feeling very overwhelmed once again so I wrote everything out and decided to get myself some goals through writing down the dates in which I want to have things done by, this can connect to what we are doing in business class without SMART goals, which I feel will keep me in check and remind me of my priorities. I need to practice on following thru with my commitments and I can already tell that this project is going to test my limits and reinforce me in the areas that I need it the most. I had a little bit of a breakdown over the weekend because I thought I had everything under control with my school work and when I realized that it was the first week and I had already missed two homeworks and felt completely overwhelmed by CAS I realized that I need to come up with a system that is really going to help me and keep me in check. Right now what I think makes the most sense is writing everything down and looking at my agenda to utilize my time as efficiently as possible to not have to get to that place of feeling overwhelmed. Now keeping an agenda is something that my teacher/advisor/life mentour Miss.Amy has been trying to make me do for a while now and I think this time I really need to give it a try and write everything I need to do down, I have tried on my computer but it hasn't really worked and since I am a visual learner maybe writing everything down os really what's going to help me in prioritizing my daily activities meaning homework and people I need to talk to for my project. The first thing that I need to start to organize is a small fundraiser to be able to pay my mom back for the water pump she is going to buy, I am thinking about planning a bake sale at snack one day this week, I have not yet talked to Miss.Amy about it but I think it’s an effective way to raise money efficiently. I was also considering joining SSS (students sponsoring students) but I know I need to figure my own schedule out before I can commit to anything else. So overall to kick off my project I just really need to get it built and I think things will fall into place from there.

Why is it that I start out gung-ho with my weight loss plans, and then something happens to send me off the wagon? Is it just me who does that? Am I the only one?
Yeah! Why am I? Why am I so consistently inconsistent?
Seriously. It’s like Roseanne Barr blaming Ambien for her racism. I should blame M & M’s for my fat ass.
Hey you guys–and Greenie! Don’t get your knickers in a twist. I’m NOT blaming you for my weight issues. Although I do have a tendency to eat way too much of you……..
But I don’t. I take full responsibility for my actions regarding food.
The fact is that I love food. I love cooking and food is more than a meal to me. Food is enjoyment. It’s that Holiday meal that you share for hours at the table with family and loved ones. It’s that three-day weekend where you have cookouts and barbeques with your friends. It’s the birthdays and graduations and life events that end up centering around food.
It’s the freaking 3/4 of a BAG of these chips I ate because I got “sad” when Roman left us to go back to NYC.
And I need to realize that I’m a bit over-the-top when it comes to this subject. I got on the scale this morning after three weekends of wonderful times with the kids and with Bonaparte! I’m five pounds heavier than three weeks ago. And I’m thoroughly disgusted with myself.
Trust me. When I was at Oona and Sam’s I finished off an excessive amount of these.
I ate my way with gusto and pleasure through Cincinnati when I went to visit Oona and the next weekend I still managed to enjoy the gastronomic pleasure of escargot, steak and other delicacies. Last weekend when Roman came to visit it was Salmon Rillettes, more steak, Béarnaise sauce, Pina Coladas, home-baked bread and enough corn chips to go around the circumference of the earth.
I don’t even want to begin to count the POINTS in the Pina Coladas I made! Apparently the sugar from the coconut cream, pineapple juice and rum, stays in your body doing very bad things after you drink these. Going pee-pee doesn’t get rid of the sugar weight gain!
And today I feel guilty. I feel like a liar because I’m kind of a bad blogger to not be so diligent.
But no fear! I’m back on track. Last night I had bad gas pains because it’s been a while since I made spicy Vietnamese Lemongrass Chicken.
Most likely the healthiest food I’ve eaten in the past three weeks! But it gave me gas!
Bonaparte, being the loving husband, he is, made me an Alka Seltzer, and like Scarlett O’Hara, I looked forward to the “another day” of tomorrow.
Hey there Scarlett–don’t you give me the side eye! I’m just like you!
So, today is tomorrow and now that tomorrow is yesterday (are you following?) so it’s back to being diligent and counting points.
This evening I’ll have a turkey burger with sliced tomato on a Flat-out bread. One of my favorite vegetables, broccoli will be served on the side and for dessert, a healthy helping of fresh strawberries.
Look! Only two points! Now to turn this into a burger bun…..
Let’s hope that the 2018 tomatoes have flavor!!!
A most healthy dessert and no points!!!
I have cucumber and Laughing Cow cheeses as well as Melba Toasts for my lunch during the work week.
I’ll slice the cukes, and place them atop the Laughing Cow cheese that is spread on the Melba Toasts! Just like in the picture on the box!
Now that I’ve come clean about my inconsistency, I’m feeling much better!
It’s a cloudy Sunday and the weather has cooled down to a brisk 64 degrees. It’s funny because 64 degrees is only “brisk” during the summer months. Had the mercury hit that number during the winter, it would be “unseasonably warm”. Am I right?
Because my husband was so good to me with the Alka Seltzer, I decided to wear black hair today. Well, it was also because of a bit of melancholia over missing my natural hair. Something hit the emotional button this morning and I just really missed that mop o’ hair that I used to curse due to it’s unmanageability. I grabbed an oldie but goodie out of the bowels of my wig collection and plopped her on my head.
I went with dark hair today. Just like the hair I was born with–sort of! I forgot how great this Bobbi Boss “Millie” bob wig is. Maybe I’ll order her in a lighter color!
After this bout of sadness, it was time to get moving. My nails were so disgusting that I finally got a proper manicure. Kim cut my nails down because it allows for a healthier growth—besides, I type all day at work and long nails mess me up. And—a fresh coating or three of my favorite Big Apple Red and I was off to run errands.
Phew! Once again, the hands are looking like those that the Lartigue men find so appealing. Well-manicured with red polish!
You know, I hadn’t been to Marshall’s in ages. When I worked around the corner from the store, it was a regular “stop-by-on-the-way-home” for me. It’s in the same shopping complex as the Walmart I drive to and it was time to revisit.
Now, I have enough clothing for the summer but it’s always nice to pick up an item or two to add to the mix. And sometimes you never quite know what will end up in your shopping cart. Since I had time to kill and no place special to be, I roamed around and tried a few things on.
The shirtwaist dresses that tie in front have always been of great interest to me. I love them but have never seen any in stores—just on women passing by. When I saw this Calvin Klein number on the clearance rack for $20, I couldn’t help myself. I tried on the 8 and the 6. Why didn’t they have an in-between size? The 8 was just too big and the 6, although it fit better—had the same issue so many dresses do. The waist was cut too high. It would have been a wasted purchase for me because I would be tugging down on the waist all day. Again, this would have been such a great dress if the waist was more long-torso friendly.
This dress though. Man, if the dress hadn’t been so short-waisted, it would have come home with me. What a shame–but I just can’t see buying a dress if I’m constantly tugging and pulling at it!
Next was a striped body-con midi. I LOVED this dress and I’m not a midi person but there was something about the cut that was so appealing to me. At $14.99, I’m sitting here writing this post and I regret not making the purchase!
Regrets, I’ve had a few–and this is one of them. I loved this one but passed!
Here’s what I did add to my wardrobe.
A black and white striped jumpsuit. Now this came as a massive surprise because jumpsuits are way out of my comfort zone. But I have to say, this jumpsuit is so light and is cut so nicely and has pockets!! It came as a shock at how much I loved this and at $19.99 the price was too good to pass by. The top is a more classic cut and my concern was the length of the pants.
This could have been a tad more long-waisted, but the blouson top rescues it! I freaking LOVE this!!!!
And then I realized something; which is why you should never throw anything away. I have a pair of shoes that are over ten years old that I’ve only worn once, and I love. They would be a perfect match for this striped beaut.
Proof that it pays to hold on to things. These shoes will be perfect for the jumpsuit!
I’ll be wearing this to work during the week.
The other purchase, another $19.99 fantastic find, is a short-sleeved maxi dress. A proper short-sleeved dress is very difficult to find. For some bizarre reason, short sleeves are, for the most part, so short that they are almost the hideous cap sleeve. Not flattering on the pro-aging arms. However, this dress had those coveted short sleeves that every short-sleeved article of clothing should have! Add to that, the dress has slits on the sides making movement more comfortable. I absolutely adore this dress and know it’ll get a lot of wear into the Fall!
Look at those sleeves! And the slits are very becoming because they don’t go up all the way. Very pro-aging friendly and I prefer a maxi to a caftan anyway. With sandals or my white low-top converse sneakers this dress is a great casual Friday dress!
Oh!! And guess what else? You know the Essence palette I wrote about in yesterday’s blog post? Where I compared the Essence “Mauvie-time” to Mac’s “Quarry”? Well, that little palette I created has another fantastic dupe—yes it does!! The shadow “Steel The Show” is an exact dupe for Urban Decay’s “Pistol” (And if you are a regular reader of this blog you are very much aware of the condescending email Urban Decay sent me and therefore I have stopped purchasing any of the brand’s products).
Essence “Steel the Show” on top. Urban Decay’s “Pistol” on the bottom. Where’s the difference? Both have excellent pigmentation and I’m wearing “Steel the Show” today. Check it out in the photo up top of me in the wig!
Pistol comes in at the price of $20 for 0.05 US oz. of product, where Steel the Show costs $1.99 for 0.06 oz. of product! That’s a huge price difference!
The past week flew by. Being off on Monday really made that work week short. And I’m lucky to work for a large corporation with an office casual dress code but I think this coming week, I’ll dress up a bit more! Here’s a look at my casual work looks from the week.
Tuesday and back after a three-day weekend! It was very casual–or rather lazy dressing!
Wednesday and a favorite white skirt from Uniqlo that I bought on sale for practically nothing either last year or the year before. A fitted striped shirt and ballet flats and I felt like Bardot!
I was too lazy to shave my legs on Thursday so I wore an old pair of J. Crew Minnie pants paired with a ten dollar top from Old Navy from last year.
Just in case anyone forgot what day it was, I wore this to remind my coworkers that it was Friday!! J. Crew Factory has been stepping it up with some great items. Both the tee and skirt are from there!
My girlfriends Linda and Sandy both suggested I do a post with a step-by-step on how I apply my makeup. What do you think? Promising idea? I think it’ll be fun so this week I’ll be concentrating on how I do my everyday makeup. Post to follow….
Have a great Sunday afternoon and evening and an even greater week to come!
My Consistent Inconsistency —Is it Just Me??? Why is it that I start out gung-ho with my weight loss plans, and then something happens to send me off the wagon?

Sunday Update - November 12, 2017
During November, it’s hard for me to break away from NaNoWriMo to do other things, but this time around, I’m being much better about budgeting my time.
We had a busy week around here. Monday and Wednesday were our only normal days, and the rest were either abbreviated or off from school.
On Monday, we did our normal things. I wrote during the day and we had gymnastics in the evening.
Tuesday was Election Day, which means a half day of school for my kids. I dropped them off in the morning and then voted and went for a walk to exercise off the donut I bought at the school bake sale. Lol. I made sure to bring singles this time because I wasn’t missing the baked goods. The day turned out well when all the election results came in, and I felt a little better about humanity.
Wednesday, my husband worked from home and the cleaning ladies came. I went for a walk while they were here and got in my words in any way that I could.
Thursday and Friday, My kids had off from school due to a statewide teachers’ conference. On Thursday, I took them grocery shopping in the morning and then they had piano lessons in the afternoon. We’ve been watching Supergirl together whenever we can, and we watched an episode together during our lunchtime, which was nice. Then on Friday, my husband worked from home and I just tried to keep my kids from eating each alive out of boredom. Not easy, especially when I’m trying to write a first draft.
Saturday was another day where we just tried to keep the kids from being bored. I tried to set up some playdates but either people were out of town, busy, or sick. Not surprising given this particular four-day weekend and the weather in November. The youngest went to a birthday party, and by the end of the day, I thought I was getting sick too. I was just plain worn out. I did get in 2000 words though!
Today was a bit more chill. I didn’t do much. I didn’t walk. I sat on the couch a lot and did work on the computer. I set up all my blog posts for this week and wrote. We managed to get a playdate set up for the youngest, so at least she was occupied.
Thank god we go back to school tomorrow! At least the kids do. I go back to my daily work days. 🙂
In writing news, I have been doing well with NaNoWriMo and today I crossed the 20k mark on this book. Yay! If you want to follow along with my progress, you’ll want to check in on my Facebook page once a day.
What else happened this week?
My knitting is really coming along, mostly because I realized I could knit and dictate at the same time! What a feat! I’m getting in a few rows every day as I dictate my book with Dragon. It’s awesome.
I get in words where I can, including at tennis for my kids.
I got a Polar winter edition seltzer that was pretty darn good.
Cheers!
I got my newest Bokksu shipment and these Spice Cheese things were really good. They disappeared way too quickly.
And then we got Chinese food last night and my husband got the funniest and weirdest fortune ever. He has no idea who he’s supposed to forgive. Lol.
Coming up this week on the blog: A LOT. There’s an announcement about a free book tomorrow, Teaser Tuesday, the publication of CHAOS IN KADOMA WARD on Wednesday, and a reminder about the end of the free book on Friday. My blog is usually not this busy!
Have a great week everyone!

» No Bicycles for Children Under Age 12 on Public Streets - Shanghai International Schools Association (SISA)
The following information regarding bicycle riding in Shanghai is shared in an attempt to be helpful to all its member schools. For safety purposes, the regulations in Shanghai allow for bicycles to be ridden on public streets only by children age 12 and above. This regulation is strictly enforced in Puxi, but is unevenly applied in Pudong. The immediate danger is that families may assume that local protections for bicycle riders may be the same as in their own country, but they are not. It is important to be aware that if a child under 12 is involved in any kind of accident on a public street or crossing, the parent may be held responsible. Sidewalks and bicycle paths along public roads are considered part of the public roads. In addition, as accident insurance is relatively new to China and there are not many precedents with these situations, your own accident or medical insurance company has the right to refuse cover in the event of violation of the local law. We hope that better understanding will result in better safety for younger children.
» Community Bulletin Objectives

With the exception of sharing information and offers from Concordia's official corporate partners, we do not support commercial ventures or for-profit organizations. The Community Bulletin editors reserve the right to omit submitted content deemed to fall outside the scope of the Community Bulletin.
» Parent Directory Privacy Policy
At Concordia, we are very protective of family information and data. The school emails only information that is important and directly related to the school and student issues. Internally, we carefully monitor what is emailed to parents and ensure it is appropriate. The use of email addresses from the parent directory for non-school related or commercial reasons is a severe misuse of the directory.
» Submitting Community Bulletin Items
The Community Bulletin is a bi-weekly newsletter. Reminders
» Carrying Copies of Passport and Visa
We have been informed by Public Security Bureau that policemen are being sent to different locations like supermarkets or streets to check people's passport and visa. We would like to remind our community that carrying a copy of your passport and visa in your wallet is recommended so you are fine if you are checked. Please note that the policemen will show you their working ID when they stop you. If they don't, please ask. If you forget to carry the two copies, they could take you back to their office. In this case, we suggest you contact your employer who can confirm your passport and visa information. They may also stop unaccompanied students so I would recommend that you review this procedure with them as well.
» New Residence Permits, Work Permits or Passports?

The Community Bulletin conveys school and student-related information and supports community, volunteer and charitable organizations.
