Just take a stand in any room of your house and think about the first thing that draws your attention when you go in. Most likely your furnishings, is that correct? Because they typically take up the most visible space in any room, furniture for home like luxury sofa set, chairs, floating bed, and tables require careful selection of components. They are also excellent for experimenting with new styles, since you can completely change the mood of your space by simply adding a side table or swapping out a chair.
Multifunctional Sofa
Multipurpose sofas are designed to accommodate a variety of user needs in the comfort of their own homes. Their primary motivation for development was to improve remote work environments. You are welcome to experiment with different luxury modern sofa set design made for work positions in different areas of the living room by using the sofa. Users may quickly transform their entire workstation, which they can use for working, into side tables for resting, relaxing, or viewing their preferred over-the-top television shows.
Multipurpose Work desk
Seek for a desk like this one that has a hutch and a swivel arm; it will match any typical office chair. You should look for this desk. With the swiveling laptop arm that comes with the table, you can dock your laptop at any position by just placing it next to your bed. This study table foldable has numerous storage choices, together with an overhead cupboard with a sliding shutter, a small shelf, a pedestal that can be placed on both aspects of the desk, and a drawer it's perfect for containing stationery and different small objects. You can choose bedside tables as well as per your requirement.
Chairs
Armchairs are a comfortable way to feature seating inside the own family room or living room. This kind of chair usually includes an attached footrest that may be raised to enable complete reclining, enabling the user to sink into the chair. It's surprising how many options there are for dining room seats. We went into great detail with each and every one of them. Since many homes double as offices, a desk chair is a necessary piece of furniture. The majority of them have wheels, swivel, and recline features, despite their wide variations.

König x Stubborn! Reader
SUM.You and König end up giving each other the silent treatment. Right when he thinks you'll give in, you shock him, causing him to come crawling back to you.
A reminder that long-term silent treatments over petty arguments are not girlboss and slay!!
'Girlfriend' and German 'mouse' used, implied short reader <3 (but also who isn't short in comparison to this giant)
▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄▀▄
You and König had been in a petty argument the day before (something about keys going missing), it got to that point that, last night, he slept on the couch.
Little did you know, it was all a part of his elaborate scheme: he'd always been the one to come back to you, so for once, he'd like to see you do the same. So when he took away your nightly cuddles, he knew you were deprived of him.
He walked into the kitchen and caught sight of your morning mug. Smirking, he strolled over to it with a pep in his step and tucked it away into the tall cabinet; far enough in that it won't fall, but far enough out that you can easily spot it. He made sure to put any other mug out of reach, too.
He carried on with his routine of making himself a coffee before his oh-so-beautiful girlfriend walked in. He leaned his back onto the kitchen counter and lifted the mug to his lips, concealing his smile that showed how excited he was to see you break your winning streak of silent treatments and ask him for help.
You internally groaned at the sight of the distance between you and your mug. You glanced over at König before rolling your eyes; from his cheeks raising ever so slightly behind the mug, you can tell he's laughing to himself.
When you look back at König, he's making eye contact with you, eyes staring with anticipation.
But you just smile innocently before walking over to him, holding eye contact. König stands up properly as his ego inflates, straightening his back and setting his mug down, his smile turning into his infamous smirk. All before you bring your hand over to the gap between the counter he was leaning on top of and the fridge, bringing out a foldable stool.
Little did he know, however, was that you had bought a foldable stool a few days before since you wanted to bring up the topic of missing keys and knew you were both a bit too stubborn for anyone to confess to anything (even though you knew you haven't done anything).
Absolutely flabbergasted, all König can do is stare and watch as you grab your mug with a gleeful smile. He waits for you to set it down and, before you can get off the stool, König comes over and sweeps you up in one smooth motion, your stomach on his shoulder and your arms flailing around behind him to let you go.
He makes his way over to the sofa in the living room and practically manhandles you so you're stradling his lap. He wraps his arms gently but tightly around your waist and pulls you in close so you can't do anything but let him hug you. You can hear him muffle out a 'when did you get that stupid stool...' into your collarbone. You just laugh before wrapping your arms around his neck.
"You gonna tell me what you did with my keys yet?" You ask, attempting to pull away but he doesn't budge. He stays quiet for a bit before pulling away himself, still keeping you in his grasp, just not as tightly so that he can see your face and gauge how he should proceed.
"I may have hid them so you could stay a bit longer." He grumbles. You feign an offended look. "You're never late, mein maus, you could spare a few more minutes with me..."
You chuckle again before you take your hand and squish his cheeks together, forcing him to pout. "You're so silly. Just ask me next time." You say before pulling him into a cuddle. You force your bodyweight to the side so you've both gone from sitting to lying down and cuddling, laughing and kissing each other's faces off with small pecks.
There was a moment of silence where you just stared into each other's eyes before he got up all of a sudden, squishing you into the sofa as he got on top of you to get off and onto the floor on the other side of you.
"I'm gonna break that damn fuckin' stool." He said, grunting like an old man when he got up.
"WAIT, BABE, WAIT-"

Unpacking the Cozy
Seishiro Nagi x reader
Flufftober Day 10
WC: 1.2k
~You and Nagi have planned a cozy night of watching game footage, so it’s the perfect time to bring out your fall blanket collection.
It’s Time…
You throw open the door to your linen closet with vigor and let your gaze drag from the rows and rows of folded towels and extra toiletries upwards to what many may consider to be heaven.
Stacks on stacks of warm-toned blankets look down at you, their fluffy bodies pressed against the thin layer of see-through plastic from their bins. You look up at them with a welcome smile on your face; it’s finally time to bring out your fall blanket collection.
You and your boyfriend, Seishiro Nagi, have some pretty serious plans later involving takeout and watching game footage, so tonight is the perfect time to cozy up in your collection.
The light gray foldable step ladder is quickly unfolded and set up so you can reach that top shelf and start tossing them over every plush surface in your home.
The even larger bins of winter-themed blankets stare back at you longingly, but it’s not quite time for that yet.
It’s Fall’s time to shine…
You unfold and unpack blankets covered in leaves and pumpkins, ghosts, and ghouls. They seem to smile at you as you drape them over the previously plain-looking L-shaped sofa. Your hand runs over the different fabrics absentmindedly. Each blanket’s unique fluffiness calls to you with a desire to wrap around you two lovebirds and keep you cozy on this blustery day.
By the time the task is finished, the living room looks more like a nest. And you haul the much lighter, now empty plastic bins back to the closet where they belong.
Knock, knock, knock.
An abrupt knocking sound from your front door causes you to pause your task momentarily.
‘I’m coming.” you call, sliding the last bin back on its shelf. You leap off of the stool quickly, and you nearly slip your way across the hardwood flooring in your flannel-printed socks.
Your oversized fall-themed wreath covers most of your peephole, but you are able to make out a familiar-looking tuft of white hair between the leaves and plastic pumpkins. Excitement rushes through your body as you practically throw open the front door to a familiar sight.
Seishiro looks utterly exhausted as he clings to his best friend and fellow teammate Reo’s back. His gray eyes blink up at you, and even through the tired haze, you can clearly see affection in his gaze.
He reaches a long arm out towards you, making a weak little grabby hand for you to take; your heart flutters as you do so, taking his larger and kinda, clammy hand in your own, “Hi,” he mumbles, lifting his head in greeting before plopping it back down on Reo’s back.
The purple-haired man greets you with a carefree smile. “Hey, Y/n, what’s going on?”
You can’t help but smile as you open the door wider to let the two men inside. “I’m doing good, but you guys look exhausted; what happened at training today.”
“Fitness testing.” Nagi groans. “It’s such a pain.”
“Says the guy who scored in the top three in every category.” Reo huffs, biting the inside of his cheek. “So, where should I drop him?”
“Just plop him on the floor,” you tease, knowing that if your boyfriend were to hit the couch right now, he would be out like a light and would not shower at all before your cozy night in.”
Reo obliges, plopping Nagi carefully down on the carpet. “Off you go, Nagi, I gotta get going.”
“Thanks for bringing him in,” you say as the center-back looks down at his ridiculously expensive wristwatch.
“Yeah, no problem.” He says, “I gotta run, but I’ll see you guys later.” rushing out the door without giving you a chance to say goodbye; the door closes softly behind him
Nagi, still on the floor, looks up at you, not bothering to hide the jealous twinkle in his stormy gaze. “It’s getting cold in here. I feel like we are gonna freeze to death.”
“Of come on, it’s not that co-” you are cut off by a strong gust of wind that blows the front door open. Chilly fall air spills into your once cozy living space and sends many a shiver down your spine.
“This is it,” Nagi mumbles, too lazy to move. “This is where I die.”
“Aren’t you the dramatic one,” you laugh, rushing over to the doorway. Pushing on the heavy wood against the wind to shut it. It fights against you, and the freezing wind bites at you in a vicious attack.
From the floor, you hear the white-haired man call up at you amusedly, “You’re doing great.” His teasing gives you the strength you need to shut the damn door all the way. With a grunt and a sigh that rivals Seishiro’s overdramatics from earlier, you push forward until the door slams shut in your direction.
“Th- Thanks for the help.” you pant, locking the deadbolt and glaring daggers at your lovingly lazy soccer star.
“I was going to,” his cheeks puff up in a pout. “But you looked like you had it covered.”
You roll your eyes and go to ruffle his slightly wind-tangled hair. “Whatever, just go shower so we can watch the game.”
“Oh come on, I’m not even that sweaty,” he pleads, and frustratingly enough, he’s right. It’s not fair how the Pro-Footballer can finish a grueling two-hour training session without breaking a sweat.
But you persist, “Go shower. I just brought out all the fall blankets, and I refuse to have them smell like your smelly cleats and grass.
“We practiced on turf,” he mumbles.
“Seishiro…”
“Fine, I’m going, I’m going.” he sighs, reaching a hand out for you to help him up. You do so, lifting his practically dead weight off of the floor with a lovesick smile. On his feet, he leans against you with a happy smile on his face. “I missed you today.”
His weight is comfortable against you, and you hug him back. “Me too
~
You are completely smothered in your blanket collection as Nagi comes back into the living room. His cheeks are rosy from the hot water, and the ends of his hair look a bit damp, but at least he is out of those damn soccer clothes.
“Looks comfy,” he sighs before not-so-gracefully flopping on top of you. The cool, minty scent of his body wash invades your senses as he snuggles closer to you, the source of warmth.
The attack of cuddles paired with the mass of blankets around you makes you realize just how tired you are, and your eyes go wide in panic. “Wait, maybe we shouldn’t get so comfy; we still have a game to watch, don’t we?” you say the last part weakly, your mind already giving into Nagi’s embrace as the veil of sleep seems to cover you.
He cups your face and looks at you with lidded eyes, “Let’s watch a movie instead,” he murmurs, picking up your little black remote. “We both know we won’t be watching the game.”
His logic is sound enough for your sleepy brain, and you let your eyes close for just a second. Darkness surrounds you, and you feel the rumbling of your Love's chest as you slump against him. The last thing you feel before sleep takes you is the gentle press of his lips against your forehead.

The Agency P2
Media - The Queens Gambit Character - Benny Watts Couple - Benny X Reader Reader - Y/n Rating - Sweet AF Word Count - 1428
I took my suitcases in hand and approached the stoop of the Brooklynn townhouse, Benny shut the door of the beetle and came up behind me,
"Down here." he said as he headed down the stairwell to a lower apartment,
"oh..." I was taken back but I followed a little sheepish,
I walked down after him being careful on the dark stairs, before he headed down a second set so I continued to follow even if the place seemed dirty and smelt like odd socks. He unlocked a tall metal door and headed inside so I quickly went inside.
"... oh." simply fell from my mouth as I saw the place,
It was a basement, the door behind me, a wall to my left with a few backlight switches and a hook where he hung up his jacket and hat, a railing to my right, a shelf of books just down the stairs, A door beside the shelf open that lead to a water closet, the apartment had maybe three lights hung overhead, one over the small kitchen that had perhaps four cabinets and an old battered fridge, a small lamp over the stovetop, one over the table where a vase with some white roses sat, and one above a small living space with no sofa just a pile of pillows on the floor, an old ratted rug, a small foldable coffee table covered in magazines, another two bookshelves filled with books, a round leather ottoman and a matching leather chair, a lamp beside it as well as a lighter stand beside a well-used record player. The furthest wall had a small desk with a stool by a wall of clippings and pictures, the back wall was just plane brick with a few trophies on a ledge, I was shocked to see the shower and bath sitting in the corner beside the fridge with a sink and mirror between the shower and the chair, An interior window and frosted glass door lead to the bedroom where the bed was made up.
I slowly walked down and did my best not to react as my face would give me away, Benny headed through fixing his hair and tidying the coffee table a little pushing the magazines into a pile.
My eyes for a moment caught the glimmer of the knife still on his belt, and one single thought ran through my mind.
'Oh god... He's gonna kill me. He has a knife. this is the basement of a serial killer. I am gonna be freaking skinned and made into soup!'
"It's not much but... it's home," He said,
"Mhm," I nodded,
"What do you think?" he asked,
I thought for a moment before squeezing on the handle of my suitcase and forcing out some words, "It... is... cosy."
he chuckled, "Yeah, that's uhhh one way to put it," he nodded, "Here let me," He took the cases from my hands and tossed them on the bed, "Did you fancy a coffee?"
"Ohh uhh yes please," I nodded,
"Alright, take a seat and make yourself cosy," he smiled indicating to the rest of the apartment,
I nodded so he headed to the kitchen, I gulped but slowly headed deeper into the apartment, I smoothed my dress under me as I took a seat on the leather chair, having to put my feet to the side as the chair was so low. I looked around a little and caught my eyes on the box of records beside the player, so I flicked through them a little seeing the sort of music he had. "You mind I put some music on?"
"Oh no go ahead, you take cream or sugar in your coffee?"
"Both, in decent helpings please."
"Hu, I'm a black coffee myself." he said, "I should have creamer in here..." he opened his fridge and I saw it was pretty empty with only some milk, some creamer, some cheese and a very battered pad of butter. "Ahh I do, and it... is in date that's surprising,"
I did chuckled a little until I found an album I liked so I took it from the dust cover and the cardboard sleeve sat it on the player and dropped the needle down to soon enough hear Waterloo Sunset by the Kinks playing from it,
"Ooohh good choice," he chuckled as he brought me over my coffee in a paper takeaway cup,
"Thank you," I nodded taking a tender sip,
"You're welcome," He smiled sitting his on the table, he brought the Otterman over and took a seat on it.
For a while we each just sat sipping our coffee, luckily the music filled the quiet air. Until he broke it,
"So?"
"So..."
"I suppose we both have... a lot of questions,"
"I'm sure we do," I nodded, "One each?"
"One each," he nodded, "So, why did you sign up for the agency?"
"Loaded the first question," I blushed a little, "Uhh well... I uhh I had been unsuccessful for many, many years and frankly, I just got tired of trial and error, just sort of wanted to have an understanding of intentions." I explained, "Plus my parents... not so subtly pushed me,"
He chuckled, "Yeah, I get that. kinda the same reason I did. No dating, not messing around just straight to the point," He nodded, "You're turn,"
"Uhh well... why is there a window into your bedroom?"
He laughed, "I don't actually know, I promise I'm not a weirdo." He says,
"You do seem relatively... normal,"
"Normal? My god I'm hurt." he joked,
"Sorry," I laughed,
"It's alright, I'm sure normal is a compliment to most people,"
"I meant it as one," I nodded, "You're turn,"
"Ughh well... this is my kinda, first run with the agency, have you been with them long?"
"A couple of years, a couple of false starts but uhh..." I coughed as I didn't want to finish the sentence,
"I won't ask," he nodded, "That's your business,"
"Why do you carry the knife?"
"Ohh... this is for protection," he rested his hand on his hip,
"From?"
"From whatever. Better to be safe than sorry." He smiled, "What do you do?"
"Ohh professional homemaker as of the moment,"
"makes sense," he nodded, "your turn,"
"what do you do?"
"Ohh," He smiled and picked up a magazine from the table and handed it over to me it was a magazine called 'Chess Review' and his photo was on the cover, "I play chess, professionally. Currently, US champion aiming for grandmaster and world champion down the road, Also wrote a chess book so that helps with the finances."
"They mentioned you were big into chess," I chuckled setting the magazine down,
"Yeah, I figured they would," he chuckled,
"I tried to dress accordingly," I looked down at myself,
"Well you look very beautiful," He smiled as he moved a little closer and rested his hand on my own, I blushed as our eyes met, "Sorry I-" he went to move back but I took his hand again and he smiled,
"You're turn," I smiled,
"I know is early, we uhh haven't really known each other that long and this is a pretty BIG decision but can I ask... if you like me? At least the initial introduction of me?"
I blushed but he was right we hadn't known each other very long, but we only had a week to make up our minds if we wanted to call this all off or if we wanted to go through with it so really we both knew our intentions, and we knew the clock was ticking on this decision, "I admit, I do like you benny, you seem very nice, and handsome and I'd really like to spend more time with you,"
He smiled, "Yeah I feel the same way too, I think this could maybe work out between us?"
"I think its possible,"
"Well... I'm happy to take a gamble Y/n," He chuckled, "Oh- shit-" He got up ran a hand through his hair, "I completely forgot," He muttered as he went to the table, he picked up the small vase with the white roses and brought it over, "I uhh I got these for you,"
"Awww thank you," I smiled happily taking the vase and giving the roses a smell, they smell so sweet and fresh, "You didn't have to do that Benny,"
"Well I wanted to get you something, and I thought it might make the place seem a bit more... cosy for you for this week,"
"Well thank you very much Benny that's very kind of you," I smiled giving his cheek a kiss,
"You're welcome Y/n," he blushed a little, "I did book us somewhere tonight... for dinner? if you wanted too?"
"I'd like that,"

Creative Interior Design Solutions for Personalizing Your Rental Space by WeDezine
Renting a home or apartment often brings certain limitations—restricted design flexibility, structural constraints, and a lack of true ownership. However, just because you’re renting doesn’t mean your space can’t feel like home. Personalizing a rental is all about infusing your unique style within the boundaries set by your lease.
At WeDezine, we know how important it is to make every space feel special, even if it’s not owned. Here, we share creative interior design solutions that allow you to transform your rental into a stylish and inviting home without any major renovations.
1. Add Color with Accessories
Although many rentals don’t allow painting, you can still bring a vibrant palette into your home through accessories. Use pillows, rugs, curtains, and artwork to introduce colors and create a cohesive look. A bold color scheme or a single-color palette with accents adds personality to any space.
WeDezine Tip: Try removable wallpaper or peel-and-stick decals for an easy, non-damaging way to add patterns and color.
2. Switch Up Lighting
Lighting is key to setting the mood in a room. Swap out standard fixtures for stylish pendant lights, chic floor lamps, or cozy string lights. You’ll instantly change the ambiance and make the space feel more tailored to your tastes.
WeDezine Suggestion: Choose adjustable or portable lighting options that are easy to pack up and take with you if you move.
3. Bring Texture into the Space
Textures make a room feel cozy and personalized. Use fabrics like velvet, linen, or cotton in throws, pillows, and blankets to layer your furniture. Rugs are another excellent way to introduce texture while also defining your living areas.
Pro Tip: A statement rug can anchor the room’s decor, adding warmth and depth to your rental space.
4. Choose Versatile Furniture
Rental spaces often come with restrictions that make it hard to find the perfect furniture fit. Opt for versatile, easy-to-move pieces like foldable tables, modular sofas, or stackable chairs. These items adapt easily to layout changes, giving you flexibility over time.
WeDezine Suggestion: Select furniture with built-in storage to maximize space and reduce clutter, especially in smaller apartments.
5. Use Vertical Space
If floor space is tight, use the vertical space instead. Floating shelves, wall-mounted hooks, and vertical storage are great options for displaying decor or storing items without taking up precious square footage.
Creative Ideas: Try adding a floating desk or wall-mounted storage for functionality and style without cluttering the floor.
6. Add Indoor Plants
Plants bring any space to life. Whether you go for a few potted plants, hanging planters, or a larger statement plant, greenery makes your home feel warm and inviting. Plants also improve air quality and create a calming atmosphere.
WeDezine Tip: Choose low-maintenance plants like succulents, snake plants, or pothos, which are easy to care for and thrive in various lighting conditions.
7. Display Temporary Wall Art
Blank walls don’t have to stay bare. Add personality to your rental with removable or temporary wall art, such as framed prints, canvas paintings, or fabric tapestries. These pieces add style without the worry of permanent damage.
Pro Tip: Use command strips or adhesive hooks to hang art without damaging walls, so your decor can come down easily when it’s time to move.
8. Include Personal Touches
Your rental should reflect who you are. Incorporate personal items, like family heirlooms, travel souvenirs, or DIY projects, to make the space feel uniquely yours. Thoughtfully curated items bring warmth and a sense of familiarity to your rental.
WeDezine Insight: Consider a gallery wall of framed photos or custom art prints to add character and personality.
9. Opt for Multi-Functional Furniture
Multi-purpose furniture is a game-changer in rentals where space is at a premium. Choose pieces that serve dual functions, like sofa beds, storage ottomans, or desks that double as dining tables. These items provide both style and utility, maximizing limited space.
WeDezine Tip: Multi-functional furniture will improve the flow and efficiency of your rental space while also adding your personal style.
10. Stay Organized with Stylish Storage
Organization is key to personalizing any space. Stylish storage solutions like baskets, trays, and decorative boxes are functional yet aesthetically pleasing. Decluttering your space will make it feel larger, more comfortable, and more peaceful.
Conclusion
Personalizing a rental space can be a rewarding experience with the right design solutions. Adding color, embracing functional furniture, incorporating personal touches, and using creative decor options can help you turn your rental into a space that truly feels like home.
At WeDezine, we’re passionate about creating beautiful, personalized spaces. If you need assistance with designing a rental that feels unique to you, reach out to our team. Let’s work together to transform your rental into a stylish and functional home that reflects your taste—without compromising on design flexibility!

Which types of furniture make luxury house?
It is often thought that furnishing the spaces of your home with high-end luxury furniture means opting for classic or high-quality luxury furniture. This is not always the case, or rather, choosing modern luxury furniture for home is the first step to giving personality to spaces. You must then consider the environments that you have available, the colors with which to embellish the rooms, the materials to choose in luxury interior furnishings, the light points, the design accessories, and the technology. Keep reading this blog to know which types of furniture make luxury houses!
High-end furnishings: the kitchen
The kitchen in a luxury home is the environment that, together with the living area, must be aesthetically impeccable but also functional. For this reason, relying on luxury furniture manufacturers who design everything to measure makes the difference: high-quality and eco-sustainable materials, total customization possibilities, and furniture that blends innovation and technology with craftsmanship.
Luxury home furnishings: the entrance
Is the first impression what counts? Then the entrance must be chosen and cared for down to the smallest detail: it is the business card of a house! The lighting must be studied to perfection to convey familiarity and warmth to anyone who enters, thus avoiding a gloomy and poorly lit entrance, and a custom-made wardrobe contributes to the functionality and aesthetics of the space at the same time.
If space allows, try adding a console to serve as a useful catch-all for your daily requirements. Explore the newest trends in luxury modern sofa set design to complement this luxurious environment. A well-chosen sofa may convert your entryway into a stylish and welcoming waiting room, leaving a lasting impression on your visitors.
Ideas for high-quality furniture
But how do you furnish your home with luxury and create an exclusive environment by choosing instead only design accessories? Here are some ideas to add luxury and class in just a few steps.
1. For the bedroom, it may be sufficient to choose a romantic modern luxury bed design with a headboard accompanied by a pouf or comfortable chair and warm and relaxing colors that facilitate rest and relaxation.
2. In the living area, a luxury home must have all the comforts at hand: A minibar for evenings in the company of friends and relatives, a side table in the material you like best, an elegant and luxury sofa set, upholstered as you like, on which to watch TV and talk to your guests. And if it is true that for every luxury room, there must be a carpet.
3. For your home office requirements, think about a study table foldable to maximize space and usefulness. This addition mixes nicely with your beautiful décor, making your room both opulent and functional.
4. And when looking for the appropriate chairs for home, choose items that complement your overall decor while also giving comfort and flair.
High-end furnishings: light
In luxury furnishings, lighting also becomes essential. The chandeliers and all the light points help to highlight certain parts of the house and must be studied strategically to be functional in everyday life.
In fact, in the study of lighting, light sources are divided into two categories: the first includes the types of light capable of illuminating any environment, such as spotlights recessed into the false ceiling or on a track, and the second includes light sources that create a punctual, such as wall lamps or table lamps. In a home with luxury furnishings and design, home automation is essential.
In Conclusion
In creating an exquisite and luxurious house, the selection of high-quality furniture, including a luxury floating bed, becomes critical. The peak of richness is achieved via modern designs and bespoke furniture, as well as attention to detail in lighting and automation.

Furniture & Home Design Predictions for 2024 in the UK: Embracing the Future of Interiors
As we step into 2024, the landscape of home design and furniture in the UK is poised for exciting transformations. At JV Furniture, we're thrilled to give you an exclusive sneak peek into the trends that will redefine our living spaces this year. Here's what to expect:
1. Sustainable and Eco-Friendly Designs:
The green wave continues to surge, with a heightened focus on sustainability. Expect to see more furniture made from recycled materials and ethically sourced wood, as environmental consciousness takes center stage in home design. JV Furniture proudly offers a range of eco-friendly options, marrying style with sustainability.
2. Multi-functional Spaces:
As remote working becomes more prevalent, furniture that can adapt to various needs is on the rise. Look for convertible desks, foldable tables, and modular sofas – perfect for the modern professional balancing work and leisure at home.
3. Bold Colors and Textures:
Say goodbye to the muted palettes of yesteryears. 2024 is all about making a statement with vibrant colors and rich textures. From deep blues to energetic yellows, our collection will help infuse your space with personality and warmth.
4. Vintage Revival:
There's a growing appreciation for the charm and quality of vintage pieces. Expect a blend of retro and contemporary styles, creating unique, time-transcending spaces. Our vintage-inspired selections offer a modern twist on classic designs.
5. Smart Furniture:
Technology integration isn't just for gadgets anymore. Furniture with built-in charging ports, voice-activated features, and even health-monitoring capabilities are becoming mainstream. Explore our smart furniture range for a glimpse into the future.
6. Biophilic Design:
Bringing the outdoors in remains a key theme. Natural light, plant integration, and organic materials will dominate, creating serene, nature-inspired havens. Our new line includes pieces that perfectly complement this trend.
7. Handcrafted Authenticity:
In contrast to mass-produced items, there’s a growing desire for handcrafted furniture. Artisanal pieces with unique stories to tell will become coveted items in UK homes.
8. Maximalism Over Minimalism:
While minimalism had its moment, maximalism is making a comeback. Expect bold patterns, eclectic mixes, and a 'more is more' approach to decorating.
9. Wellness-Centric Designs:
Furniture that contributes to wellbeing – think ergonomic chairs, standing desks, and relaxation-focused pieces – will be in demand as health continues to be a top priority.
10. Local Influences:
There's a rising trend in celebrating local design talent. British craftsmanship and design nuances will be sought after, reflecting a pride in national artistry.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
At JV Furniture, we're excited to be at the forefront of these trends, offering a range of products that not only align with 2024's predictions but also set new standards in home design. (gently) tagging people I hope haven't been over-tagged: @digitalsatyr23 @frostedlemonwriter @abalonetea @basalamander-corner @wrenofthewords @teawhilewriting @innocentlymacabre @zestymimblo @sergeantnarwhalwrites @new-royston-cursebreakers @murosakiiro @hghrules @rubywrite @anulithots & anyone who wants to have at it (say I tagged you!)
...
This is kind of a long read (I went above and beyond again oops). I also included info about more interviews at the bottom for funsies!
Censor warning: mention of alcohol, dead bodies, gore, and mild reference to animal cruelty
Now, without further ado, let's meet our 4th interviewee, Darcy, from my WIP Crater City!
...
Much to Darcy’s irritation, he was invited to this wonderful interview that is being televised in color for all of Crater City to behold. Or, at least to those who care. The setting is a bit different from the past interviews, its new setting reminiscent of a dating game show. A cream-colored set decorated with 60s motifs backdrops a tangerine chaise lounge on stage right and a podium covered in flowers on stage left. It is unusually devoid of life after-hours, but it is the only place suitable for such a high-demand guy like the mayor of Crater City. A live studio audience seems to have congregated itself, composed of the previous candidates: Jemmah, Blair, and Elijah. In the front-center row, they are chained to those foldable theater seats with poor lumbar support that eat your ass if you sit too far back. They are not allowed to get up until the interview is over. Because that would be rude.
Darcy makes his way through a dark labyrinth of sorts (not unlike the back of an optometrist’s office), until he finally reaches the stage. The hot stage lights flit between colorful hues, accentuating his chestnut hair, navy suit, and elaborate tie. The live studio audience groans, but thankfully it can’t be heard under the fake cheering the host rigged. Darcy is instructed to make himself comfortable on the sofa, to which he crosses his legs like a respectable guest. Shortly, the Very Desirable and Well Maintained Host makes his way to his post behind the podium. The words “The Tonight Show Without Clementine” flash on the screen, accompanied by applause.
Host: Thank you for coming to the show tonight!
Darcy: It’s about damn time. You’ve been putting this off for weeks, completely messing my itinerary up. I’m a busy man, you know.
Host (adjusting tie): Apologizes!
Darcy (with a frigid glare): Shall we get on with the interview, then?
Host: ...
Host: Eh…yes?
Darcy: ...
Host: Uh, yes–yessir! Right away, sir!
[1.] Are you named after anyone?
Darcy: Am I named after anyone? (pauses in thought) No, not that I can recall.
Darcy: But I believe I was going to be named Sydney.
Host: You know, I can see it.
[2.] When was the last time you cried?
Darcy: Excuse me? What kind of interview is this?
(from the audience, Blair whispers something in Elijah’s ear. They snort. Darcy squints his eyes at them.)
Darcy: But if you really want to know, that's something I can't recall.
Host: Oh, come on, you can be honest with me, Darcy.
Darcy: No, I just mean that I physically can't cry.
Host: And why is that?
Blair: Because he's a robot after all! DUN DUN DUN~!
Darcy: Ok, that is not even remotely the reason why.
Elijah: Yeah, that's more my thing, Blair.
Jemmah: What is going on here?
Host: I actually have no clue!
[3.] Do you have kids?
Darcy: No, but that is something that’s been drilled in my head since I was younger.
Host: Do you mind elaborating on that?
Darcy: About being told how precious my genes are and that I am an important asset to saving humanity? Oh please, that’s disgusting to think about. Have you no manners?
Host: Oh, I…I'm sorry. I shouldn't have pried.
Blair (quietly): That’s fine, we don’t want your offspring anyway.
Darcy: What was that?
Elijah (sinking down in his seat): Blair!
Jemmah (suddenly with a wine glass): I’m not sure what’s going on here, but I’m invested.
Blair (pointing at Jemmah): Yo, who gave him alcohol? I want some!
Jemmah: There was some on the way in, didn’t you see the huge sign?
Blair: What sign?
Darcy: It’s just like you to miss glaringly obvious signs.
Blair (baring his teeth): …Say that again?
Host: Hey, everyone, let’s try to get back on track!
[4.] Do you use sarcasm a lot?
Darcy: I do; I think many people miss it. Which isn’t my fault. If you can’t detect it, that’s your loss.
Jemmah (raising her glass): You and me, both.
Host: Tell us a joke.
Darcy: A joke? Oh, I didn't come prepared…!
Host: Oh, just anything’ll do!
(Elijah looks uncomfortable in his seat. Blair is half-asleep.)
Darcy: [censored due to censorship guidelines]
(Elijah, Jemmah and Host turn pale.)
Host: Ahaha, something pg-13 would be preferred, Darcy!
Darcy: Oh! Right, right…
Jemmah (whispering): I take back what I said.
Darcy (clears throat): What's the difference between a pair of jumper cables and a dead body?
Host: Oh gosh…what?
Darcy: Blair doesn't keep a pair of jumper cables in his trunk.
(The laugh track plays.)
Blair: Now, listen here! The only reason I don't have any is because I don't own that car!
Jemmah: And you also didn’t stuff a body in your car…right?
Elijah: Then whose car is it?
Blair: I…rented it?
Darcy: The jokes just write themselves, don't they?
Blair & Jemmah: What's that supposed to mean?
Host: Uh-oh, things aren't looking good for Blair…
(Elijah shakes his head in disappointment. Jemmah is concerned for his own safety since Blair sits next to him.)
[5.] What's the first thing you notice about people?
Darcy: The amount of eye contact they make.
Host: Oh, really? What does that say about me?
Darcy: I was just kidding, I don't usually look people in the eye unless I must.
Host: O-oh, yeah, right!
Darcy: But to answer the question, I notice how they carry themselves. If there's a certain word they enjoy saying or the cadence of their speech. The casual or formal way they act, the way they walk, who they surround themselves with…I learn a lot. I like to learn about others.
(The host looks a bit troubled about the idea of Darcy getting a clear picture of him)
Darcy: Oh, don't look at me like I'm the odd one. Blair said the exact same thing as me in his interview!
Blair: True.
Host: Well, what can you say about me?
Darcy: That, for some reason, you're scared of me. I'm not sure why, though. It's kind of insulting.
Host: Oh, no–I'm not scared of you!
Darcy: Yes, you are.
Host: You're just…so…
Host: Well, I can't help but feel like I should be the one being interviewed! (Laughing)
Darcy: Oh, am I imposing?
Host: No, I didn't mean it like that! Ah, forget what I said…
[6.] What's your eye color?
Darcy: Can't you see? (catching himself) Oh, I apologize, that was probably presumptive. Can you see?
(Editor's note: we are unable to tell whether or not Darcy is being sarcastic here)
Host: I…yes, I can, actually. It was just a question in the list. Aha!
Darcy: I'm just confused who came up with these questions, is all.
Darcy (pointing to each eye): I've got a blue one in my left and a brown one in my right.
(The camera zooms in on Darcy's face)
Host: Oh, so like that one famous musician?
Darcy: Who?
Host: Ah, nevermind. That was a weird thing to ask.
Darcy: If you're wondering, I was born this way. Human error. No big deal.
Host: Well, I think they suit you just fine. They're enchanting.
Darcy (plainly): You think so?
[7.] Scary movies or happy endings?
Darcy: A happy ending.
Jemmah: I don't like the way he's grinning like that…
Host: Oh, really? Do you have any movie recommendations for us?
Darcy: A Clockwork Tomato and One Flew Over the Crow's Nest.
Elijah: Those movies…don't have happy endings.
Darcy: Depends on what you define as a “happy ending.” Maybe that's why you're so emo. Cause you don't know how to look on the bright side of things.
Elijah (in all black): Emo?!
Blair (jolting awake): Huh?!
Jemmah: Gah! Stop yelling in my ear, Blair!
Host: What interesting selections! I've never actually seen either of those movies before, but I'll trust your judgment.
[8.] Any special talents?
Darcy: Apparently I have a light step and often scare people by mistake. I also know how to disable alarms and explosives, memorize license plates at a glance, and find almost every constellation in the sky. Believe me, I've had all the time in the world to do so.
Host: That is impressive! But I have to wonder, how often are you going to encounter explosives? Sounds dangerous.
Darcy: Oh, as mayor I have to watch my back. Many people aren't too fond of me.
(The camera pans to the audience who looks like they couldn't care less for Darcy. Blair picks his nose.)
Host: Oh…really? Sounds scary.
Darcy: Yeah, just ask that miscreant in the crowd. (Points to Blair)
Blair: Aw, poor you. Scared of a little pipe bomb right outside your window. And you call yourself the mayor.
Elijah: Not this again…
Darcy: See? He just incriminated himself! On television, at that! But no one will care, he'll just get off scot-free.
Darcy: I don't even know how he got close enough to do that–!
Blair: Easy–your security is trash. You should hire me to rewire your system, except I kinda don't like you, so there's that.
Jemmah: Do you have magic where you're from, too?
Elijah: No, Blair's just one lucky son of a bitch.
Blair: Hey, give me some credit.
Host: Wow, you two seem to share some animosity towards each other.
Darcy (sighing): I don't hate him. He's just this spur in my heel that I can't shake off. People like Blair are selfish and hinder progress because they value their inner circle more than the general population.
Blair: You're just mad you don't have any friends. Seriously man, why put your social life on blast like that? Why do that to yourself?
Darcy: I'm just trying to help people like you, but you refuse my efforts. It's maddening and confusing. You're like a boiling frog. Impossible to reason with.
Jemmah (tipsy): …What are we talking about again?
Elijah: Special talents?
Host: Ah, let's proceed to the next question!
[9.] Where were you born?
Darcy: Crater City.
Host: Ah, born in the same city you watch over. You must be proud of where you come from. I know I'd be!
Darcy: Yes, I take a lot of pride in my city. You know, my grandfather would have passed the baton to me if things had worked out.
Host: Well, then! Leadership must run in the family. As does looking sharp.
Jemmah: Oh please, you call a man in a simple suit “looking sharp.” Is that all it takes?
Darcy: I wouldn't be saying that while decked out in holographic clothing. I can see you from here, you know.
Jemmah (under her breath): Oh, I don't like this guy.
Blair: I mean, compared to me and Elijah, you have to admit, he's got some style.
[10.] What are your hobbies?
Darcy: I like to stargaze, read, collect ties (pulls at tie), learn more about the world around me, and embroider…I like to embroider plants and flowers. They remind me of better days.
Host: What do you embroider on?
Darcy: Clothing, mostly. Even if I were asked beforehand to bring in finished pieces, I couldn't because they were all gifts.
Host: Oh, I'm sure they're lovely. I could never sew, I'm not nearly as patient!
Darcy: It’s easy if you have steady hands and nothing else to do but daydream. I wish I had more time. (distantly) I'd love to go back…
[11.] Do you have any pets?
Darcy: I do! I have three rats called Juni, Vinnie, and Addy.
(The camera zooms up to Darcy showing the Host a picture of his pets: three rats snuggle around his neck and peek through his mess of curly hair.)
Host: How adorable!
(Elijah whispers something to Blair, which Jemmah overhears and gasps in disgust.)
Jemmah (now drunk): Darcy did what?!
Elijah: Jemmah, please–
Jemmah (struggling to break her restraints): You mean to tell us we're locked in a room with a man who used to make his pet rats fight against each other?!
Elijah: Jemmah!
Blair: How do you know this?
Host: Well, that sounds unflattering! Don't worry, Darcy. We'll cut it out of the final.
Darcy (calm): It's alright. I'll get them after this interview.
Host (concerned): Right….
[12.] What sports do you play/have you played?
Darcy: I've played very, very many. Let's see…volleyball, tennis, archery, fencing… I was in a 5-dimension chess club at some point. Not sure if that's considered nerdy where you're from.
Host: What is 5-D chess?
Darcy: You use space and time to move around the board. You know, five dimensions.
Host: Eh…right?
Darcy: Whoever wins the most times lines wins. Easy.
Blair: It's really just chess but for larger nerds. Don't let it get to your head.
Elijah: I just can't understand it. Then again, I never understood movies with time travel.
Darcy: Just say that you're uncultured.
Jemmah (pointing): The yeast used to make this wine has more culture than the three of you.
Host (calling from the set): Indigo, are you in the audience? Yeah, please stop serving Jemmah drinks. I don't think he needs any more. Yeah, that'll do!
[13.] How tall are you?
Darcy: 6 feet.
Host (joking): You know, many people lie about their height.
Darcy (monotone): Why would I lie about my height?
Host: Oh, haha, no reason!
[14.] Favourite subject in school?
Darcy: I never went to public school–
Blair (interrupting): Which explains a lot…
(Elijah & Jemmah cover Blair’s mouth.)
Darcy: But I gravitated more towards sociology in college.
Host: Why is that?
Darcy: I found studying why societies work the way they do far more interesting than psychology. Psychology is more exclusive. Sociology taught me the larger picture–why things happen, what we can predict to happen, and hindsight. It angered me, surprised me, and taught me a lot of things I hadn't considered while in captivity.
Host: Captivity…?
Darcy (confused): Did I stutter?
Host: No, I was just curious what you meant by that. But we don't have to delve into…
Darcy (tapping foot): How many questions are left?
Host (checking chart): Oh, just one more. Then we'll get out your hair!
[15.] Dream job?
Host: I'm sure this is a rather obvious question for you, the mayor, but…
Darcy: As a kid I wanted to become a nurse.
Jemmah: Feel that.
Host: Oh, what happened to that?
Darcy: I wasn't supposed to be a nurse, I was supposed to lead people. Fate works in mysterious ways, so…here I am.
Blair: Fate must be some wacked-up sadistic bitch.
Darcy: You'll understand when you're my age, piss ant. (To Host) You better cut that out.
Host: Yes, of course.
Darcy: As I was saying, I was set for other purposes…I suppose I get to help people either way, as was my original intention. But there are some downsides. Now, if I want to play with mangled bodies, it's seen as taboo and illegal.
Host: …!
Darcy: I'm only joking, you know. Don't act so high-strung!
Host (laughing?): Right, right…
Host: Well, it was lovely meeting you here tonight, Darcy.
Darcy: It was a pleasure.
(Host points towards stage right and Darcy turns to look.)
Host: Now, if you would just walk straight until you hit a red door…
Darcy: Right…
(Indigo silently appears behind Darcy and firmly taps the back of his neck until he slumps forward, unconscious.)
Host: And that's all the time we have for tonight!
Automated applause fills in the silence. The camera pans to the audience one last time: Blair is comforting Elijah, who is fearful of the possibility of Darcy sitting next to them; while Jemmah seems to be asking Indigo questions about how they got here and how to escape. The title “The Tonight Show Without Clementine” appears one last time before the screen fades to black. Immediately after, an ad for your local attorney plays its funky tune.
Host (sighing): Well, that's another addition to our collection. Like flies to a honey trap. Wonderful performance, everyone.
Indigo: I'm eager to see who the next guest will be.
Host: All in good time, Indie. Now, we wait.

What would be your perfect setting for a library (bibliothèque/médiathèque)? What would you put inside? How would the outside look like?
Et quels livres/œuvres y mettraient tu en avant?
If it only depended on me it'd be a huge multi stories library like in cité des sciences or la BNF, with distinct sections for work and for fun which have different seatings and types of books.
All of them bigass wooden shelves, possibly a part with collection editions with those scales to get up to get them because it's so sexy + wood furniture is great to kill noise.
Research section MUST have tables with foldable panels that you can put up to isolate yourself, or down to work on a group project, plugs for phones and computers, Ethernet cables, and ergonomic chairs with back and arm support.
Fun section would have sofas and bean bags and a "librarian favorites" and "user favorites" shelves, a corkscrew board with postits to allow people to suggest new books.
There would also be a section with video games and movies on physical support + a few external DVD players that people could also borrow.
If there's no limit it'd also have a few quiet insulated rooms to allow people to isolate and repeat for job interviews, theatre, music recitals and whatnot.
Basically it'd look like a mashup of all the libraries I've ever been to I think.
And from the outside ? I'd love it to have some kind of terrasse with an arch above the door and protection from the rain. I have such fondness for the 70s building and their experimental roofs. Maybe a flat roof garden where kids could do monthly gardening activities and plant like peas and stuff ? In the entrance it would be a corridor where people are allowed to be loud with small turning exhibitions from the local artistic organizations, changed like every trimester, and posters for help groups and queer orgs and harm reduction.
As for the books, there'd definitely be a bunch of classics from multiple genres, and I'd also push comic books, especially the hidden gems that not everyone know but that should absolutely be cult classics. There would definitely be some rec somewhere for the college de France lecture of Peeters somewhere.
If I could go all the way into the dream there'd be regular seminars and tables rondes by cool people –Roland Lehoucq, Denis Bajram, Karim Debbache, Laelia Véron, Alex Mahoudeau, Jul' Marot... There's so many people with so many interesting things to tell actually.

There's a reason TV dinners became popular and were also coined such. Yes, they were convenient, easy to make meals. .....Generally eaten in front of a TV because people decided they liked watching TV while eating rather than just staring at each other across from a table. They even invented little foldable trays you could set up in front of you so you could eat your TV dinner, you guessed it, in front of your TV! While sitting in your living chair or sofa!
Now, it seems like families have gone back to eating at tables, but now with a small TV in their hands. A small TV, and small newspaper, and small game, and small notebook, and small--
If you think people used to willingly stare off into the distance before smartphones, my dad told me he had this psychology assignment when he was in college in the 80s which was basically
Go to a restaraunt by yourself and eat a meal without a newspaper or journal or anything else to keep you occupied and then write a report about it
Which tells me that this was a way for a professor to inflict psychological torture on their students and that people used to bring little things with them to keep them entertained. Shown by those old pictures of everyone in a trolley reading a newspaper with one hand.
Frankly I think that the human brain has been craving smart phone forever. Perhaps we use it too much at times but if this was 1985 we also wouldn’t be talking to people. We’d just be looking at newspaper or drawing stuff on notepad instead. And the old people would all be shaking their fists about how kids spend too much time looking at that damn TV because yes this discourse has been going on long before smart phone
