“Another rainy day but with our inbuilt raincoats and snuggled up to mum, we don't mind the weather. ... Flying Fox babies have a very close relationship to their mums and stay with her for many months, even though they may mot depend on her anymore for survival.”

Elizabeth
Full Name: Elizabeth Dáae
Age: 27
Height: 6.3 ft
Gender: Female
Sexuality: Straight sepiosexual
Species: Flying fox bat
Occupation: Nurse
Personality: Elizabeth is best described as an angel with a heart of gold. Her kindness and generosity are what shine the brightest out of her. She’s thoughtful of others’ thoughts and opinions. never considering to argue about them. The only thing Elizabeth is concerned about is their health, physically, mentally, and emotionally. Praying that they’ll get back up on their feet once again.
Likes: Elizabeth enjoys her job as a nurse. Taking care of the patients within the facility and restoring them back to their normal health is something she always looks forward to in her career, especially with children. Whenever things gets hectic in her workplace, Elizabeth calms herself over the beauty of nature, visiting some of the local ponds in her neighborhood while reading a book underneath a tree. She truly loves her family wholeheartedly, including her husband, Ludvig. She’ll do anything to support them no matter what. Other interests of hers include cooking and baking, A trait her husband fonds over.
Dislikes: Elizabeth hates the corruption at her workplace. It’s a constant reminder of the stained reputation some hospitals are getting due to their working conditions. She also fears perverted men, something she experienced during her first two years of college. As much as Elizabeth loves her family, there are a few pet peeves, such as her older brother’s overprotectiveness and her little sister’s rebellious actions. The worst is her mother’s illness: Cancer.
Strengths: As a nurse, Elizabeth has expert knowledge of the medical field. Her soft and gentle nature is also beneficial in her career, able to keep a patient calm before a procedure or before passing away. Being a bat as well, she has the ability to fly and hear things from across the hallway. Elizabeth also carries pepper spray with her. Just in case someone tries to take advantage of her.
Weaknesses: Her gentle characteristics don’t always come in handy, however. There are those who take it as easy prey. And while she’s equipped with a pepper spray to defend herself, that’s the only weapon she has as she doesn’t have skills in combat.
Backstory: Born as the 2nd child of her family, Elizabeth grew up in a pleasant childhood, obivious to the struggles her parents and older brother are facing at the time. While her older brother and mother dealt with their financial instability while at the same time looking after her, her father was in the military fighting in the Iran-Iraq War. It's only when her father came back, severely wounded, from the war that 10-year-old Elizabeth discovered the truth behind closed curtains. Feeling guilty for not helping her family's situation, she decided to pursue her career in medicine so that other people wouldn't suffer the same fate as her father had. Upon graduation, Elizabeth decided to study abroad, mainly to separate herself from her brother's overprotectiveness over her. For her freshman and sophomore year of college, she went to a medical school in Transylvania where she first met Ludvig, her soon-to-be fiance. Their relationship was all tender yet short-loved as Elizabeth was going to transfer to a nursing school in New York for her junior and senior years. As heartbreaking it was for them to part ways, both promised to remember each other reunite once again with their hopes and dream fulfilled After college, she was able to get the job as a nurse at the St. Geneviève Hospital. Despite its poor workmanship from the employees and tainted reputation for organ trafficking, sexual harassment, and abortions, she persisted. Even after five years, now with Ludvig working by her side, Elizabeth still enjoys making the clinic a better place for patients to recover easily.
Fun Facts:
Elizabeth was inspired by her mother who used to work as a military nurse.
She met up with Ludvig again at a party in Rio during her last days of volunteering to prevent the Zika virus from spreading further. And yes, she soon found out about his crazy Amalgamation conquest. It took her awhile to comprehend the path her husband had taken.
Elizabeth was the one who proposed Ludvig’s four-month sentence in a psychiatric hospital, aka St. Geneviève Hospital. She was determined to help him despite her lawyer's, INTERPOL's and her boss's indifference of the situation. She was successful in the end.

“Tiny little dot Bella had a bit of a misadventure, ending up trapped in a gutter. Thankfully she was noticed and called in to be rescued. She is now recovering from her mishap, getting some TLC in care. This is the time of the year when juvenile Flying Foxes learn to fly and start exploring the world by themselves ... and it's not unusual for them to get into a little bit of trouble, stranding in strange places. Thus, if you spot a bat by itself during the day, please call your local rescue group for help!”

“Welcome to our first Monday myth busters! Over the next ten weeks we will be busting a bat myth every Monday. Our bats get a bad rep and most of the negative information we see spread is simply untrue. So the aim of these myth busters is to spread some bat facts and get people informed. Our first myth is that ‘flying foxes breed out of control’. This myth is usually brought up in conjunction with the ‘flying foxes are exploding in population myth’ that we will cover next week. In short, it is impossible for flying foxes to ‘breed out of control’ as the females only produce one young per year. Flying foxes are evolutionarily designed to have long lives with low rates of reproduction. They invest a great deal of energy into their baby to increase its likelihood of survival. Unfortunately with the increase of urbanization and anthropogenic threats, flying foxes are not living as long and are not able to produce as many babies over their life times as they once would have. Flying foxes have a gestation period of 6 months (incredibly long for a small animal) and wean their babies at 5 to 6 months just in time for the next season of breeding. Flying fox mothers are loving and very protective of their babies. If a baby falls off the mother while flying, she will return night after night to search for her fallen baby. This low rate of reproduction is a critical reason that flying foxes are susceptible to large population declines with a very slow recovery rate. Biologically they are unable to increase their reproduction and therefore ‘breed out of control’! Pictured is the beautiful Astrid with her baby Hiccup.”
