supernaturals color grading is rly fascinating to ME personally i tihnk some aspects are in fact owed to the fact that it is grainy as hell in the first few season but going from s1 where there are entire episodes where the color pallete is entirely comprised of blue-black, dark brown, and greyish beige and like two shades away from monochrome and then looking at the comparatively fluoresecent thumbnails of the final season makes me giggle
#definitely the atmosphere/mood of the show takes a serious hit. but its funny#moon.txt#supernatural

Ok. now i remember one. it was night, in a world (or a part of that world) where night held reign more than day. i was on a little island out in the ocean, dark waters heavy with slush lapping at its shores with the pent-up momentum of something that could swallow it entirely in a minute. there was a smattering of houses. one was tastefully decorated on the interior, lovely holly wreaths, two-story window, wooden flooring. some nice little scandinavian family lived there. but the other house was more ramshackle, the inside of it spartan. harsh fluoresecent lighting made the already cold rooms look colder. a few women lived in that one.
In the dream i wondered what it was like to be stuck there in that bleak, remote place, holed up with the same people day in day out. due to being a very crazy and interesting person, dream me was like, well, i guess they have to play a lot of board games.
Who replaced my recollection of last nights dreams with this image

Unidentified hopper photographed under ultraviolet light. I didn't know any hopper species were fluorescent until I saw this as a bright light in the forest.
Second image: note the end of the abdomen, which appears to have been laying eggs into the leaf litter when I found it.

The Honeybee
Kirsten Hall is a former preschool and elementary school teacher who has authored more than a hundred learn-to-read stories for emergent readers.
By Kirsten Hall (Author), Isabelle Arsenault (Illustrator) Atheneum Books for Young Readers May 8, 2018
“In bouncy, lilting verse and vibrant, inviting artwork, this ode to the humble honeybee is dripping with charm…. Hall’s lively lines skitter around Arsenault’s warm, honey-colored illustrations…. With occasional speech balloons and delightfully expressive gestures, the bees mirror the gleeful tone of the poem…. Arsenault’s scenes are a captivating mixture of smudgy charcoals, soft yellows, and fluoresecent oranges, combining crisp shapes with more abstract figures.
The entertaining tone and freewheeling art are a pure joy, but there’s plenty of science here, too, and a closing note about the importance of bees to our ecosystem brings the point home. Boisterously written, gorgeously illustrated, and sneakily educational.” (Booklist, February 2018)
