random question, how do you draw Connor’s hair? Like any specific shapes for forms that help?

HI HELLOOOO this is such a good question & i’m so excited to answer it OK ! so

took two of my fave cons for this specific example , i ofc base how i draw his hair on mike faist , the actor who originated the role of connor on bway , who basically has the same hair shape .

i used red for what i call THE BIG SWOOP . this thing is always present when i draw con & swear it just . doesn’t look like him when it’s not added ???? ( specifying im talking abt my art !!! i always have to add it ) he parts his hair from the left & it tends to get tucked behind his ear , where the green part begins , the squiggly lines represent his hairline basically . the purple/blue are the 〰️waves〰️ that end at his shoulders ( tho you may notice i make it longer depending of the drawing ) i’ve seen ppl draw him with curly hair & straight hair , but i tend to do it wavy just bc !

i’ve been adding the swoop since forever ! added some of my oldest connors here + here’s a pic of mike ! i marked the sections with the assigned colors to kinda mark how it looks in a more ‘ realistic ’ hair volume .

as time passed i’ve simplified it to an extent , & now it just . flows so naturally , but once you get the hang of the shapes it comes easily ! the top is a bit geometrical with the sharp edges & it bleeds into the fluffy waves .

here’s a quick vid !! even tho i hc that his hair is . very greasy & Not shiny at all & there’s no real fluffiness , i tend to draw him w the most beautiful gorgeous luscious locks ever 😭😭 sometimes i even make it LONG as hell , like , reaching the middle of his back ?? this is mainly an artistic choice btw & i usually do it to fit the composition of my stuff

So I’m 5 ft tall, with dark brown eyes and shoulder length brown hair thats wavy but also floofy and looks like a lion mane if brushed. I really enjoy learning about new stuff, drawing, playing video games and swimming. I can get anxious/depressed but I try to handle it on my own. Definitely deflect my own issues by taking care of others lol. A fun fact about me is that if someone insults me I contain my anger well, but if someone I care about gets insulted I kinda lose my shit. Oh! And I’m really bad at controlling my facial expressions. Like, I’ve had people come up to tell me they knew I wanted to beat someone even though I was being polite just from my facial expressions.

so, your hair is beautiful I'm sure, and echo thinks so as well. i think he'd always find a way to touch your hair, either cuddling or just sitting beside each other, he likes to feel how fluffy and nice it feels under his rough hands, and he def learned how to Bride Your Hair just to have an excuse to feel it under his fingers.

Echo loves to brush/when you brush your hair and he thinks you look tHE CUTEST when it's all lion-mane like don't @ me.

He'll caught up in your deflective thing or when you're anxious/depressed and he'll do anything. ANYTHING. to make you feel better. sometimes you get annoyed bc it's fine echo, I'm alright, but my boy is very stubborn and he will and must do whatever is in his power to help you feel a little less bad.

you'd be always making faces at each other, it'd be SO funny bc tech'd say something annoying and you two look at each other like 🙄🙄 and hunter always tries to hide a smile when he sees you making the sAME FACE bc u two are really meant to be.

echo adores to watch you swimming, he doesn't usually join you bc Self Conscious but he really adores watching you go in that lake you two stumbled upon a few hours ago, and his heart flutters when you laugh. you ask him to join you but he shakes his head saying it's fine. you look ethereal, he always thinks, under the sun light and in that crystalline water.

He enjoys teaching you stuff, or when you teach hIM stuff. but his favorite times are when you two try to learn something together, when you read him this book you just found out, or improving your mando'a together, laughing loudly at your bad pronunciation, kissing softly as a reward for a job well done.

he loves the most when you're drawing, though, you look so focused, determinated yet so... soft, he thinks, sometimes chewing your lip, and sometimes you find him staring, the smile appearing on your lips appears in his too, before you go back to what you're working on.

echo was sitting in the grass, cross-legged, pulling some grass out as you two waited for the others to arrive, little flowers of all colors surrounded him, the sun above was hitting him just right, half of his face seeming like glowing and you had been drawing him for the past minutes.

"what are you drawing, baby?" he asks, not looking up from the green under him, brows frowned because of the sun shining above.

it's something so casual, because lately you've been drawing a bit more than usual, you hide your little smile with your sketch book.

"oh, nothing, you know." you shrug, even if he doesn't see you, "just pretty things."

echo looks up to you, finding a glint of something in your eyes he can't quite place what it is.

"can you show me?"

"it's not done yet." he hums, going back to pulling grass between his closed fists, a warm breeze passes and he looks around to see if he catches a glimpse of hunter or any other. "wait," you start when he moves to stand, "don't move."

echo's puzzled look lasts only a second before he sees how you pick up a pace with your drawing, your eyes flickering quickly between him and whatever you're drawing.

"thought you said pretty things." his voice is like confused amusement, and you chuckle lightly.

"and I meant it."

the grin he gives you is bashful, cheeks painting in the lightest of pinks, and he's glad you can't hear how hard his heart is beating.

Enchanting sky blue eyes… fluffy, wavy brown hair, cute round cheeks, lovely smile… those hidden freckles that you can hardly spot and only in certain screenshots but nevertheless they’re there to raise the cuteness factor… ALSO HIS LASHES. MAYBE IT’S NATURAL?? MAYBE IT’S MAYBELLINE?? WE SHALL NEVER KNOW

Here you may be able to spot the freckles if you squint hard enough. I have 77 screenshots but this is the best example I could find.

According to a DVD commentary, and the visual facts, he has no shoulders whatsoever. Back in Venice Killian was able to restrain him effortlessly with only one foot on his chest, even as he kept struggling ans squirming and generally put in as much effort as he possibly could. Before then, he claimed the database was the first thing he has ever caught in his life.

Conclusion, our boi’s very much NOT athletic. Which makes sense for a scientist, braining all day and stuff, and because he probably barely even eats, or sleeps which are by the way both pretty concerning implications but anyway.

STOP BEATING UP THIS POOR FRAGILE LAD FOR GOD’S SAKE. Makes me want to protect him even more. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but you get what I mean.

Now, on to the actual reason I’m so head over heels for him, a.k.a his personality.

He is one of the sweetest, kindest, purest boy characters I have ever seen in fiction, if not THE number one himself. (All my other cinnamon roll crushes are, or have been a villain at some point and WILL resort to violence if provoked.) Look at him, his pacifism… is unbreakable. He’s dead set on making the world a better place, by peaceful ways, and helping humanity. If that’s not a quality to be cherished then IDK what is.

And he’s just such a refreshing character. He likes pink, K-dramas, glitter, kittens, things that aren’t traditionally “masculine” (but is never made fun of those things in particular in the movie) and I love that. Nothing’s sexier than a man who’s, despite society’s shitty standards, openly and unashamedly himself!

His femininity is, if anything, just another turn-on. (This didn’t intend to sound sexual… but oh well.) I love his little hand gestures and mannerisms, dorky ramblings, the way he says “yep” popping the “p” at the end, all the small yet significant traits that were incorporated into his character. Bless you, SiD creators, bless you.

Have I said that he’s a genius?? Which is pretty obvious but c’mon, he graduated at 15!! He can modify human genes!! He successfully turned a man into a pigeon on the first try!! (The serum wasn’t the first prototype but we can assume he didn’t experiment on living humans with the previous ones.) And he’s still just 20!! Like what is that if not hella fucking impressive???!??

His inventions, to the untrained eye, may seem “stupid” or “childish” but alas! The observer couldn’t be more wrong! Because despite the odd designs and themes they’re all highly effective, as we have witnessed in the battle against Killian. And he is extremely creative for coming up with such ideas! Told you he’s brilliant!!

Which makes me all the sadder about how much they underappreciated him at the agency. In his words, nobody ever listened to him, or gave him a chance. They just left him and his “weird” ideas next to the men’s bathroom and called it a day. How could they be so blind? Didn’t they see the potential in his inventions? Oh well. Maybe I’m just being a smartass bc I have more knowledge, living outside that universe. But I’m totally right.

And I was honestly ready to throw hands with Lance for hurting the boi even further. (I’d stand no chance whatsoever, but still.)

He did cry in that scene though… you could see a tear rolling down his cheek and if it wasn’t for the machine beeping… He did have a pretty rough day afterall. But HEY, if we dwell on it too much the scene loses its comedic effect!! A guy gets sad over a stupid soap opera, har har har!! Now let’s move on, keep it fast and snappy for the kids, don’t let them overthink it!! Can’t have any emotional breakdowns onscreen. Keep it lighthearted y’know. Then let’s kill a random side character and have our dear protagonist almost die twice.

(Well jokes on you Blue Sky! I’m no kid, but a devoted fangirl who can and will overthink any material of my fictional faves at any given opportunity.)

You know what else I love about him though?? His love for animals!! And pigeons, especially Lovey!! He loves her so much, gives her gluten free breadcrumbs, nuzzles her, the first thing he does when he finds out Lance can talk to the pigeons is ask if she loves him too!! Like… That’s so pure and wholesome.

(Not gonna lie, I used to be crazy for pigeons for like, an entire year or something. Not as in looking up all the facts there are about pigeons as I do nowadays with cartoons, but I’d feed them regularly and write my little observations on their behaviors. ooh, fun! and unless i’m asked otherwise, i always do movieverse, so teen years for kurt would be circus years! great, i was already thinking about that!

raised by romani circus fortune teller margali szardos, along with his two older siblings (her natural children from her late husband. whom kurt is named after btw) stefan and jimaine. 5 and 2 years older respectively

the outfit he wears for his acrobatics act looks like kurt’s iconic black & red leotard from the comics (jimaine aka daytripper gets a similar outfit except its white in the black parts and pink in the red parts)

The Incredible Nightcrawler & The Incomparable Daytripper are a double act, doing like… flips and magic and shit

he’s walked into on other circus folk doing sexual things to each other, like, a lot of times. it keeps happening. its how kurt figured out sex is a thing and it seems to look fun and a bit weird but fun?

massive growth spurt between the age of 15 to 16, like wow

his hair is naturally curly (like wavy fluffy curls when long) but jimaine straightened it for him and added the blue highlights. (she does the same thing to her own hair, and thats where kurt got the idea and asked)

the smile is so blinding that we overlook how kurt naturally goes into a pose. that boy’s a natural model. he’s posed for pictures before! which makes sense. tho i think most of his posters are drawn, there had to be have been some photo taking. that and he’s natural performer!

he’s really good at make-up because the make-up artists at the circus taught him their skills

branching off that, kurt has great artistic skill (his scars and clothing choices are a sign of that) and sketches/doodles a lot

he’s kept a journal since he was a small boy. it acts as an artbook more than a traditional journal because kurt uses drawings more than words. most notable examples are the designs for his enochian marks (margali could never have predicted that kurt drawing swirls was actually a plan) and a lovely head & shoulders sketch of ororo after they meet

being ace (specially bi ace, possibly bi demi) he doesn’t experience sexual attraction and it takes him a bit to realise other people do (observational skills) and he doesn’t have negative feelings about sex or sexuality. in fact, i’d describe him as fascinated/curious at most. he’s realised its a thing most people want, and probably not with him

so specifically he’s a sex positive/indifferent asexual

margali taught him english but he also picked up a lot from american TV, of which he’s a great fan. american pop culture in general is so cool to him

his teleportation power didn’t kick in until relatively late, like… late teens (as a defensive reflex to being threatened by somebody with a gun)

very chubby as a baby, gawky as fuck as a teen

crawled out of his crib at night as a baby lots of times… so margali started calling him… you know where this is going

his first kiss wasn’t very good because it was from jimaine, so he pulled back suddenly in shock/horror and made her lip bleed (LEMME EXPLAIN, yes, i could have abandoned that weird incest shit from the comics all together but i decided to do something else with it for DRAMA. by something else i mean: KURT IS NOT OKAY WITH THIS AT ALL. basically i’ve gone with: stefan doesn’t love him enough and jimaine loves him too much. i allow fucked up shit for the angst okay, im a writer)

take comfort in the fact that whatever sad shit i thrown into kurt’s backstory, that he ends up happy with the x-men. i mean, not always, he has manic depression, but i mean he’s better! also for the most part i actually do imagine kurt had a good childhood. in my version of things, margali is a really good and protective mother

there’s just some… massive bumps along the way. i can’t resist!

like this one: almost lost his virginity to the ringmaster’s wife (the logic being “i should be grateful for the chance”) but was instantly put off and horrified when he realised she wanted to sleep with him on the basis of  wanting to fuck a freak… (i imagined this story after the realisation that in the x-men universe there’d be people who’d fetishize mutants, so i imagined a scenario wherein kurt encounters somebody like that. like, im not being needlessly cruel here, there are reasons for things)

upon BAMFing for the first time he was understandably scared and confused, then realising he’d gone away a distance, he was EXHILARATED. i imagine that one’s powers unlocking for the first time causes an unbelievable energy burst, too 

kurt loved being in the circus because he loves to make people (the audience) happy, especially the children
