i absolutely loved writing these, gosh it was a weird experience but like, a good one. i would love to do this for other groups. i know these weren’t all aesthetics and i got a bit carried away on some but honestly i couldn’t be happier with how they turned out.

Joshua Hong was a boy who smiled gently and held open the door random strangers. He sprouted happiness and a sense of comfort everywhere he went - stares followed after the boy who was, somehow, the exact definition of 'a perfect man'. Joshua Hong wasn't shy - he was sure of himself, in everything. He spoke confidently and walked with his head held high. He didn't doubt anything he said and he looked everyone in the eyes even if it wasn't the 'polite' thing to do.

All of this, of course, was useless when it came to you.

You somehow managed to crack the exterior Joshua Hong hid himself behind. The timid, quiet boy he covered with a false confidence leaked through the cracks when you so much as looked at him. His air of soft confidence dissolved until he was a blushing, stuttering mess.

And you had no idea about any of this.

To you, Joshua Hong was the small, meek boy he tried to hide. You'd never seen him pull flowers out of thin air, just to pass them along to strangers on the sidewalk. Hearing his laugh - a lighthearted tune - was erased from your memory, replaced with a breathy chuckle. Joshua Hong wasn't who he seemed to be and you couldn't have been any more clueless.

You sighed as you picked at your cake, boredom washing through you like a cold shower. You'd been waiting on your 'date' for half an hour - you didn't even know why you bothered. They liked you, but you hadn't the slightest attraction to them. But, you felt bad when you saw their hopeful expression drop, so you agreed anyways.

Your phone rang again - it was Joshua. It was maybe the third time he'd called, just to hang up after the second ring. Your attention was taken away by the cafe door slamming open. And lo and behold - there stood your date; face flushed and panting, but a happy smile on their face.

You wondered what that felt like.

To be so interested and invested in someone that the mere thought of their presence sent happiness throughout your body like shivers. The only time you'd felt that way was when you were younger and you were allowed a pet hamster - Buttons actually lived longer than expected.

"I'm so sorry I'm late! Did you wait long?" You actually did, but their puppy eyes began to shine again and you found your sarcastic comment withering on your tongue. Instead, you painted a smile on your face and shook your head before motioning to the tea you ordered for them.

It turns out, your date doesn't even like peppermint tea. You wondered why you ordered it until a brunette with pink cheeks and a small, kind smile entered your mind. Ah, you thought to yourself. You didn't notice the smile that crept onto your face as you thought about a boy instead of listening to your date's rambles. That Joshua Hong has a bad habit of sneaking in to my mind, after all.

Your date ended well, you supposed. You'd barely had anything in common with them but they did have nice eyes - you didn't think there'd be a second date. You sighed and checked the time, almost giggling when you saw all of the missed calls a certain brunette left you. He wasn't one to get clingy, so you couldn't help the sliver of worry that fought through your head.

But, the bus came and you forgot to check your voicemail once more.

It wasn't until you were sitting - hand in a bowl of popcorn with a movie playing - that you remembered Josh's voicemail. You, again, wondered what could've been so important that he'd called you so many times.

"Hey," his voice nervously started. You could picture him rubbing his neck like he always did when you were around. "How are you? Hm," you could hear the brunette sigh. You could only imagine his eyes wandering around wherever he was, trying to match the words in his head to the ones he was saying. "I don't know why I called you, but when we see each other again... no, never mind. Bye."

And, that was it. You felt your eyebrows furrow - what did he want to do when you met up? You contemplated calling him back - Josh wasn't that nervous over the phone. But, he still stuttered and sighed and you could tell something was really bothering him, so you didn't want to make it worse.

You met up with Josh only two days later. When you approached him, the boy was mumbling to himself, shaking his head every once in a while. You only smiled fondly - the brunette really was a soft spot for you, someone you'd adore regardless.

"...and maybe we can make this hang out a date instead!" the brunette spoke to himself. He sighed and looked down, kicking his foot lightly against the concrete. "Because I like you a lot, you know? Y/N... I like you! No, that sounds stupid. Maybe we could be more than friends because I like you more than a friend and - no, that's awful!" Joshua sighed and ran a hand through his hair before he panicked, straightening it to how it was.

"Do I really make you that nervous that you have to practice what you're saying?" You spoke up from behind Joshua. He turned around - face flushed pink and brown eyes wide. Josh's mouth gaped - he reminded you of a fish and you couldn't help but laugh.

"Y/N wha- um," Josh spoke. He shuffled his feet again before his eyes trailed down, landing on the sidewalk below him. "Hi."

"Hey," you grinned at him. When he still allowed his gaze to freeze onto the floor, you bumped your shoulder against his arm lightly. "So, I'm not opposed to making this a date. My last one didn't go so well, and, I trust you more than anyone."

"Really?" Josh squeaked. His eyes finally met yours and the happiness and adoration you could see swimming in them warmed your heart drastically.

"Really," you nodded. And your date started with a trip to a convenient store where you bought chips and water before you just walked around the park. It was calm, familiar, and entirely Joshua Hong. He always made you comfortable and maybe that's why you convinced yourself it was okay that your heart was racing and your palms were sweating.

It wasn't until your third date that you held Joshua Hong's hand. And, on your fourth date, you kissed his cheek goodbye. His cheeks, of course, turned the rosy color you adored. On your sixth date, Josh finally gained enough confidence to kiss you himself - he even leaned down to your height to look you in the eyes beforehand.

You never had a bad date again. But, Josh still turned pink and stuttered - only sometimes.
