Toxic masculinity has VERY LITTLE to do with how men DRESS and express their emotions and MORE to do with how they behave towards WOMEN.Toxic masculinity is MAINLY about how men derive their masculinity and sense of “maleness” DIRECTLY from oppressing and belittling women through violence, alienation and dehumanization.Traditional masculinity is INHERENTLY TOXIC bc it is focused on being the “opposite of what constitutes being a woman” and invalidating the existence of women and ANYTHING associated with them.
Men CAN wear all types of dresses, makeup and cry in public all they want and STILL be misogynist and abusive towards women!! Men wearing colorful clothes, dresses, flowers or makeup isnt gonna do JACK SHIT for the upliftment of women or destruction of toxic masculinity if they arent putting equal efforts towards unlearning their misogynist socialization, boosting women’s voices and not delegitimizing women’s work !!
So stop saying men are "saying fuck you to toxic masculinity" all bc they wear flowercrowns or makep and they cry sometimes in the public bc their privileges as men dont stop existing the moment they wear a colorful suit in public lmfao
As much as i love seeing men breaking away from the gendered standards of appearances imposed on them and embracing traditionally “feminine” articles of appearance , i’ll NEVER forgive mainstream feminism and “stan culture” for completely destroying the original concept of “toxic masculinity” and reducing it to “Men wearing only dull colored suits and not crying and showing emotions in public” bc like, all this makes the concept of toxic masculinity ABOUT MEN and how it affects MEN ONLY and literally SIDELINES the ways toxic masculinity DIRECTLY contributes towards the oppression and violence on women which should be the FOCUS of the discussions surrounding toxic masculinity.
