#vandermorgan#rdr2#spring cleaning (my follower count)#anyway really fucking obsessed with am picking up on how dvl posits himself as a father figure to angry disenfranchised young men#to manipulate them to his own ends like how dvl swoops in to validate efs anger in lieu of rf to rip off the us army out of greed/revenge#and reflecting on his own relationship with dvl and how thorougly disillusioned he is with dvl and his ideas. how much is his self just#what dvl wanted him to be? so entrenched in his outlaw life and putting the gang and dvls needs before his own that he cant do anything but#hold onto the hope that he can get through to dvl knowing hes just another toy soldier for dvl to break cause he has nothing left#dvl calling ef 'son' but not am in my last son.. dvl withholding fatherly validation from am when he rejects dvls authority. the ebb and#flow of their coerced 'father/son' relationship is a poor mimicry of unconditional love because it was never about making am feel loved#but making sure dvls needs were met because he can only 'love' people who serve him in some fashion.. there is no unconditional love to dvl#thanks for listening to me brick wall#my art
