A short trip outside of the city center of #florence . The village of Settignano is 20 minutes away by bus and you will see the beautiful Tuscan hills just like you've seen in movies. I was welcomed by a cute friend, a white pony, between the olive trees🐴 #tour #tourguide #firenze #florenceguide #florencetour #florencetown #ig_italia #ig_italy #ig_florence #ig_firenze #ig_toscana #ig_tuscany #igerstoscana #igersfirenze (Settignano)

So I was recently tricked into going on what I thought was a nice Sunday walk by Mr Italiano but was actually a full on trek up a mountain…nevertheless, the views were spectacular and I celebrated my hiking achievements by eating a 2kg Florentine steak and a tiramisu for good measure!
I thought I would share with you where I would recommend you visit if you enjoy this type of adventure, some of the lovely views,  the beautiful town of Fiesole with a great restaurant recommendation, the Mostra Mercato; great for families and how to get there!
Area Naturale di Montececeri
I was taken so off guard by this tremendous hike (of course overexaggerated) that I tried to google map my way out of it but discovered that google maps do not include off-road trails; proof below! I know, I feel embarrassed for me too.  Regardless of my less than eager attitude for walking vertically up pebble, dirt and stone pathways, it was certainly a beautiful place to get lost in and we met many hikers along the way with their dogs and children so this would be a perfect place for those wishing to do something with the family that involves the Tuscan countryside and nature; plenty of bunnies along the way. I also discovered that it was here, that Leonardo Da Vinci first experimented with the concept of flight and given the sudden cliff drops, it certainly explains how he caused so many deaths!
It is rather lovely being out in nature but not when you’re wearing your brand new Adidas, crocodile trainers with a once white trim. And yes, I am one of those women who walk around in yoga wear with absolutely no intention of actually working out so note to self, bring water and plastic bags to cover shoes for future reference.
From this park, you have views of the whole of Florence which is truly spectacular. Even when you leave the park itself, walking along the windy roads gives you the same views which are where I took most of my videos for you.
Mostra Mercato
I came across this family friendly market by sheer accident. Whilst trying to google map my way out of the hiking hell (to no avail) we ended up on the windy Tuscan roads as you can see above; surrounded by the stunningly beautiful, large villas that home the super rich, one building was clearly now a public venue which would be great for a wedding also. Located on Via Benedetto da Maiano, 11, 50014 Fiesole FI  are countryside apartments set on an organic agricultural estate, with a traditional Tuscan restaurant and from the 1st of March to April 2nd they host an agricultural, arts and crafts show/market called Fattoria di Maiano. It was filled with children and families from all walks of life and very popular with hikers and tourists wishing to browse the local goods. They offer guided tours of their botanic gardens, a symposium (conference) about wood sculptures with the sculptors Francesco Battaglini, Roberto Coccoloni, Mommarelli Luca, Giuseppe Procopio, Max Solinas who carry out live performances of their skills and this year, an extemporaneous painting by the association Artists Fiesolani http://www.ArtistiFiesolani.it.
  Fiesole
I have written about my love for Fiesole before which is the town you will travel through in order to get to these various places I have recommended above. You can travel here either by walking, taxi, rental car (please refer to Travel Tips #2 for the best deals) and the number 7 bus from central Florence. Every weekend they have a market with fresh, homemade pasta, jams, olive oils, meats, clothing; you name it they have it. For all it’s small, it’s surrounded by gorgeous panoramic views of Florence city centre and steeped in history; the Roman baths, the Roman amphitheatre, gardens, Churches, Statues and great little restaurants.

Below is my top Fiesole restaurant recommendation for travellers/tourists alike, which is where I ate the fabulous Florentine steak and looks over the market stalls, lined with beautiful trees which are currently in full bloom. There are incredible restaurants here, including Michelin Star but this is perfect for just a spot of lunch whilst browsing.
Perseus Fiesolano is rather small inside but has the wonderful outside eating area which is where we dined. It is owned by those at Trattoria dei 13 Gobbi (my favourite place for steak in Florence) and they have another restaurant in viale don minzoni worth checking out too.
We ordered a 2kg Florentine steak which was enough for us, with a side of beans and spinach. The slight fat on the steak was so flavoursome; to die for, I absolutely adored it. The tiramisu was just ok, it wasn’t the best I have had here in Italy of course, but I was craving something chocolatey which is rare for me, I am usually a savoury girl. Don’t worry, I ate the entire thing so as to give you a thorough review!
