I cheer on the coaches roasting Rusty because I’ve always clocked him as a Thomas ripoff and fucking hate Thomas as a character so it’s like “YES PLEASE BULLY RECOLORED TRAIN SCRAPPY DOO! HARDER! KILL HIM EVEN!”. God that series made me so sick of small steam engines and there’s only MORE when you look at other talking train media. Bashing on them is like bashing Disney princesses, they’re such a cliche it feels SO good to smack them down a peg (yet so few actually do it). My interpretations of the show are basically train Shrek lol

(that and I just think of what a nuisance a twee steam shunter would be on an actual mainline. Like a horse and buggy or slooooow tractor blocking a highway.)

#thomas was funny as a non-main character in the RWS/ early TV series but got old so fast #especially in the TV show when he stopped being a mean little shit (because that’s his main appeal)#While i also hate rusty for bizarrely deep political reasons i also just hate him because i hate thomas #if only the TV show came out a little sooner and forced them to change him to something else last minute #after all electra’s last minute changes were the best thing they ever did to the character #rusty hate train #flipping rusty and caboose would even work better #because cabeese are actually used way more in revenue service than steam engines EVEN TODAY #and rusty being evil is an even BIGGER twee train cliche flipped on its head than “the little red caboose”
