MakeSense® Advanced Anti-Aging Foundation is made of a combination of ingredients. Here are a few key components:

Carrageenan - a natural material that is extracted from the red seaweed plant found in the Atlantic Ocean. It is used for gelling, thickening, and stabilizing properties and is absorbed into skin quickly. Carrageenan moisturizes faster than Hyaluronic Acid which must be used for 2 weeks to reach the moisturization levels that Carrageenan reaches within 24 hours.

Sodium Chloride - natural sea-salt used as a binding agent.

Aribidopsis Extract - a small flowering plant used to help repair damaged skin DNA.

Lecithin - naturally occurring plant source that protects cells from oxidation and replenishes and repairs skin with its essential fatty acid content. Damage from oxygen radicals is a main factor in aging and it can come from environmental pollutants, UV-A induced reactions in skin and from the body's own stress responses. In addition, oxygen radicals are the inevitable side-effect of energy production in mitochondria (parts of cells that conserve energy) of cells. The accumulation of mitochondria is considered an important element of aging. These radicals damage DNA by oxidizing its nucleotide bases to for 8-oxo-guanine. This blend shortens the time for nucleus DNA repair from 24 hours to 2 hours.

Thiotaine (Ergothioneine) - a synthetic version of naturally occurring amino acid normally found in high concentrations in tissues of the body exposed to high levels of oxidative stress (free-radical damage). It protects the skin from oxidative and DNA damage. Thiotaine is an antioxidant, protecting the mitochondrial membrane against oxidation. It also transfers fatty acids into the mitochondria (the power stations of our cells) to help use oxygen efficiently and to produce more energy. It also protects DNA from the oxidation of guanine.

Lycium Chinese Fruit Extract, (Goji Berry) - a bright red berry from a shrub native to southeastern Europe and Asia, prized for its high levels of certain phytonutrients likely to help prevent or treat health conditions caused by oxidation -- cellular damage due to accumulation of toxins and waste products.

Vassinum Angustifolium (Blueberry) Fruit Extract - Has astringent and moisturizing properties; also used as a skin conditioner.

Vaccinum Macrocarpon (Cranberry) Fruit Extract - Rich in flavonoids, citric acid and vitamin C. Cranberry extract has antioxidant, purifying and antibacterial properties and is useful as a natural treatment of acne.

Titanium Dioxide - an inert earth mineral used as a thickening ingredient and sunscreen in cosmetics. It protects skin from UV-A and UV-B radiation and is considered to have no risk of skin irritation.

Glycerin - a solvent, an emollient, and humectant that helps keep moisture in the product and helps the product to spread better across a surface-reducing drag and pull. Non-toxic, non-irritating and non-allergenic to the skin.

Sodium Hyaluronate - a ubiquitous carbohydrate polymer that is part of the extracellular matrix. It is a humectant about 100 times more effective than Glycerin. It is the key water-maintaining substance in human skin. Harsh living environments and aging can cause the decrease of HA content in skin, and as a result the water maintaining ability of the skin is weakened and the skin looks dry and rough. One of the main causes of skin senility is also the decrease of polysaccharides, such as HA. The special structure characteristic of HA makes it highly moisturizing, and it has a water content regulating function. Additionally, its solution has high viscoelasticity and lubricity. When HA solution is applied on the surface of skin, it can form an air permeable layer and keep the skin moist and smooth. The small molecular weight HA can penetrate into dermis layer, fully combine with water, promote skin blood microcirculation and nutrient absorption and maintain normal metabolism, and as a result, it plays a role of wrinkle removing, improving one's appearance and improving the health of the skin.

Isobutylmethacrylate/Bis-Hydroxypropyl Dimethicone Acrylate Copolymer - a film former that exhibits outstanding adhesion, water resistance, and color retention properties.

Polymethylsilsesquioxane - a silicone ingredient used most often as a film former that creates a lubricating, smooth, silky feel and increases the skins ability to repel water.

Arnica Montana Flower Extract - made-up of many components, including flavonoids, Silicic Acid, cartonoids and essential oils. The extract from this plant serves as a fungicide and as an immune-stimulant. Medically, Arnica is used externally as an application for bruises, sprains, stings or wounds. Also used after traumatic injuries. In body care, Arnica provides a layer of warmth and helps to soothe tired and tight muscles.

Camellia Sinensis (Green Tea) Leaf Extract - Proven effective in boosting the immune function of skin cells and protecting them against the damaging effects of the sun. White tea extract is prepared from the unopened buds of the Camellia Sinensis (green tea) plant, it is a powerful anti-oxidant.

Retinyl Palmitate (Vitamin A) - Vitamin A is fundamental for increasing skin elasticity and thickening of the epidermis and the dermis. Vitamin A plays an important role in RNA synthesis, known for its cellular renewal properties that speed up exfoliation to reveal younger, plumper skin cells which produces new and healthy cells in the skin and the body. This process of cell renewal and exfoliation helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and skin irregularities.
