[ 🕷 ] ━━ “Kaine?” Peter hadn’t expected to find the Scarlet Spider in his apartment randomly. He knew he annoyed the other and had attempted to be cordial in his approach with him. He only bugged the other several times throughout the day via text. After fetching a few things from the bodega he greeted his clone with a wave, using his free hand to do so. In his other hand and tucked against his side he had several brown bags stuffed with some groceries. “What’ve I told you about coming over without giving me a heads up? You’re lucky it’s me and not May. She’d freak.”

am  i  going  to  pass out  again ?  peter blinks, shakes his head as vision comes clean.   “  no, no, i’m fine,  ”   he says, waving his hands at kaine.  of course he’s going to say he’s fine.  the last thing he wants to do is sit out while there’s still work to get done.  peter has never been the type to stay bystander.  the sun will rise and it’ll set and time continues to move, and it’s his responsibility to keep innocent people safe, keep the danger at bay.  with the powers that he has, he doesn’t exactly want to sit around doing nothing.  that’s a waste.

Inclement weather always made things hard. Day after day of drizzles and showers, leaving the ground wet and the overhangs crowded. Very little of him is surprised they’re here, at the end of it all. Rain pounding down outside the Pokemon Center, rattling the windows. 

Jericho leans wearily by his legs, head nodding off until, eventually, the hounddoom’s head rests on a chair, eyes shut. Comfey snores softly, the only one of them warm, under his jacket. Barney has to admit he’s equal parts relieved for the respite from finding shelter outdoors and jealous for their chance at rest.

Extraditing himself from the chair, he spots the vending machine a few feet away. Hands searching wet jacket pockets for change. The hour is late and the Center mostly deserted, which is why he’s surprised when suddenly there’s a figure there. Jumping so hard his coins go scattering. Heart pounding and comfey shifting in her sleep, disturbed.

“Fuck, I...” He pauses, embarrassed. “...must be tired, didn’t hear ya. Uh.” His eyes dart to the floor and he squats quickly, fingers scrambling to pick up what was supposed to be enough for a coffee. “You can go on ahead...”
