Can You Hear the Winds Changing? - Part 4

More Iiaare content! I love this girl so much and cannot wait to write more but for now, enjoy the little snippet of Iiaare’s past because I despise writing strategy meetings

Warnings: violence, implied body mutilation, past abuse Iiaare’s eyes flitted between the two siblings in front of her and the many sweets between them, wondering whether the two stole the sweets from the cook. Usta had stormed out of the physician’s chambers moments earlier, threatening to get Captain Nexros to string the twins up by their toes. The two ignored the princess in favor of introducing themselves to Iiaare.

“Now that the Mistress of ticks up royal asses is gone, hi, my name is Alos, I serve in the king’s private guard,” the twin with hair curling under their ear introduced themselves before taking a bite out of a piece of cherry pie.

Iiaare nodded in greeting.

“Be nice. Usta may be haughty, but she’s still a lot better than majority of the nobility,” The twin with elaborate braids chided before turning to Iiaare. “I’m Elos. I also serve in the king’s guard, and as you may have guessed from the princess’s earlier threat, Alos and I are twins.”

Iiaare nodded again, trying to make herself more comfortable on the bed without causing the wound on her side to reopen. As she adjusted the pillow, her head spun, and vision blurred before sharply focusing on the strangers.

“But I’m the better looking twin,” Alos said with a wink.

Iiaare raised an eyebrow, unsure whether this was normal for the short haired twin.

“Ignore them,” Elos sighed before gesturing to the mountain of sweets. “Want one?”

The servant was unsure how to respond. Since the knights held a higher rank than her, she knew that eating with them would be improper. On the other hand, she had not eaten since the previous evening, and the lack of food was certainly not helping the headache that had come and gone since she woke up.

As if sensing her confusion, Elos quickly grabbed the nearest sweet, a honey cake, and handed it to her.

“Don’t worry about rank with us, darling. Eat to your heart’s content. With the way Alos eats, they're a practically a pig already.”

Alos, mouth full of pie, made an indignant noise, spewing crumbs across the bed sheets.

Elos raised an eyebrow at them. “Srr, sweetheart? Abysmal manners.”

Iiaare felt her cheeks and neck begin to burn, still unaccustomed to the casual flirting of the palace. As she took the slice of honey cake from Elos, the servant did not miss the mischievous glint in Alos’s eyes that reminded her too much of Aion’s manservant, Ernaeis, when he decided to dump buckets of worms into visiting noble’s beds.

“So, little one, we told you our names. How about you tell us yours? I bet both your name and your voice are prettier than the haughty yet beautiful princess Usta,” Alos said, leaning on their interlaced fingers, elbows balanced on their knees.

The servant’s gaze snapped from the cake in her hands to the knight as her stomach churned, and knots began to twist in her chest. It was not the first time someone had asked her to talk, but for some reason, the thought of revealing her muteness to these two, having them recoil in disgust as so many others had, terrified her"

Just as Iiaare was about to show that she had no tongue, the door burst open. A boy resembling the twins walked in with shaking hands and frantic eyes that Iiaare swore she met before.

“If you two leave me alone to deal with another war council on my own again, I am going to find every poison in this city and make you both drink it.”

“Hello, brother dear,” Alos greeted the newcomer.

The boy huffed before closing the door and making his way over to where the group was sitting. Iiaare watched him as he sat down. Something was familiar about his brown hair and the way he spoke, but the memory trying to break through the locked rooms of her mind made her head spin even more.

Elos waved her hand in the direction of her brother, “This is our baby brother, Kuxon, the three of us are from a border village near Flatband, so you will have to excuse his accent.”

Kuxon looked at her, and it suddenly clicked: the boy, his face, and the memory that had been tugging at her. Iiaare only managed a tiny gasp before the room spun one final time, and she fell into blackness.

Drums sounded as two children no older than seven were led to a platform raised and ready to be burned. Fire mages stood at the four corners, waiting. Villagers, who had gathered to watch the execution, muttered amongst themselves.

“Filthy street rats finally getting what they deserve.”

“Are you sure it was the boy? Isn’t his family at the capitol?”

“I heard they never wanted a third child, especially after those cursed twins were born.”

“Kolia, the traveling merchant’s wife, also says that one of them decided to become a boy.”

“No wonder they abandoned the son. It’s bad luck to have twins, let alone twins of different genders.”

Iiaare heard all of these as she struggled to make her way to the front. She felt the wrongness in her bones, a child should not be burned at the stake because she needed food to survive, and neither should anyone who helped that child.

The kids were being chained to the platform as Iiaare passed the last row of spectators.

“Stop!” She yelled out. When she was ignored, she ran up onto the platform, pushing mages and guards out of the way with all her ten year old strength.

Iiaare’s mind skipped ahead in the memory to when she was being loaded into a cart in the middle of the night with a man telling her that the village had found her a job as a servant to a noble. Iiaare wanted to protest but couldn’t from the pain in what was left of her tongue. The sizzling sound of a hot knife meeting flesh plagued her mind. When the darkness closed in around her again, it was almost a relief.

The memory was cut off by distant voices calling for Iiaare and a harsh light invading her vision. When she blinked her eyes open, the first thing she saw was Aion, and who she guessed was everyone from the guard in conference at the foot of the bed. The servant’s heart fell ever so slightly at the fact that Usta was not there until she felt a hand running through her hair.

“You’re awake!” Usta’s voice exclaimed from beyond Iiaare’s line of vision, causing everybody to turn to her, “ Are you alright?”

Iiaare nodded before attempting to sit up. With Usta’s help, she was able to maneuver herself to lean against the backboard of the bed relatively comfortably and without jolting the stab wound too much.

Once she was properly sitting, she registered how many more people were in the physician’s office. Along with the royal siblings, two more individuals had joined: a man with a missing arm and a woman that reminded Iiaare of the statues of the goddess of the hunt.

“Are you sure you’re alright?” Elos asked, taking Iiaare’s left hand between her own.

Iiaare nodded again. She began drawing a knife and a fire on the sheets with her free hand where Usta could see.

“A knife and fire?” The princess questioned.

Iiaare gave her a nod in confirmation before pointing between Kuxon and herself, then making a fist with her fingers sans her thumb and sliding her thumb across her face.

“A knife, a fire, the boy, and your tongue being cut out?” Usta asked. The twins gasped, and the rest of the guard stopped their discussion, opting to listen to the conversation.

Iiaare tapped her pointer finger a couple times in the princess’s direction to indicate that she was correct.

Elos’s hands tightened around Iiaare’s and Kuxon’s face when white as candle wax.

“Iiaare…cut out…” He mumbled before his eyes grew round, “It was you! You were the girl!”

“What are you talking about?” Elos questioned her brother

“Auriol and I...the day they were going to...were going to….”

“Wait, so you’re saying that Iiaare was the girl who saved you?”

“It sounds crazy, but...look, she knows!” Kuxon moves the wrist guard off his left arm, revealing old scars where handcuffs would have sat, “They told us you’d been taken away...they told us you’d been executed.”

Elos moved her hands from Iiaare’s to the servant’s shoulder and addresses her solemnly, “You saved our brother’s life. Thank you.”

The loud sound of a candle popping five times startled the occupants of the eerily quiet chambers.

“Well, I guess I should head down to the kitchens and ask them to bring up some food for us,” Aion offered before practically fleeing the room. The servant noticed the slight shaking of his hands and knew that it would be a while before the prince returned. Kuxon sat on the bench the prince was previously occupying. The younger boy began replacing his wrist guard but stopped when Iiaare signaled for him to give it to her so she could lace it up for him.

“I suppose this is as good a time as any to introduce the Captain and Lieutenant.” Alos said, turning away from her brother’s scared wrist, before pointing at the man with a missing arm, “This is Captain Nexros. And that over there is Lieutenant Iaastil, the second in command.”

Iiaare waved at Nexros and Iaastil.

The door opened just as the captain was going to say something, revealing Aion and Ernaeis carrying several plates of food. Setting down the plates, Aion turned to address the rest of the occupants of the room with a grim voice.

“Well then, shall we update those who missed the meeting of their next mission?”

What is the Best Strategy to Prepare EDC for GATE Exam?

Hi guys today I’ll be sharing my strategy for how to prepare for Electronic Devices and Circuits for GATE . It’s one of the easiest subject from GATE point of view the only hard part is to memorize all the formulae from various topics apart from that it’s the least time consuming subject in respect to the weightage it shows in GATE exam preparation . EDC cousrse basically provides you with understanding of device physics which also forms a base for various circuit analysis and design courses.

In recent year level of question as well as the weightage of EDC in GATE exam has increased,from last 4 year anlaysis the minimum weightage seen for this subject was 6 and maximum was 12 in 2018 and 2017 it was one of the highest weighted subject and most of the toppers scored full marks in this subject .

Good knowledege of this subject can also help you after GATE in interviews of various IIT’s and PSU .If someone is looking forward to do specialization in Microelectronics this is one of the core subjects of this field ,where you will further learn in depth about device physics and after masters you can start your carrer as device engineer , a good device engineer are very higly paid.

GATE SYLLABUS

Here I have mentioned the GATE syllabus and i have divide it in parts and in next section i’ll pick out each part and discuss what to prepare and important topics for GATE

Semiconductor Physics:

Energy bands in intrinsic and extrinsic silicon, Carrier transport: diffusion current, drift current, mobility and resistivity, Generation and recombination of carriers ,Poisson and continuity equations.

Diodes

P-N junction, Zener diode.

Transistors

BJT, MOS capacitor, MOSFET .

Photovoltaic devices

LED, photo diode and solar cell .

Integrated circuit fabrication process:

oxidation, diffusion, ion implantation, photolithography and twin-tub CMOS process.

SYLLABUS DESCRIPTION AND PREPRATION STRATERGY

I would recommend you to give around 10 to 13 days for EDC in which you’ll have to cover theory, previous year GATE paper questions and solve some extra material for question practice . First of all, before starting this topic all of you should have basic idea about semiconductor, metals, and insulators, how are they classified, band model and bond model, direct and indirect band gap materials.

1). SEMICONDUCTOR PHYSICS (2-3 days)

This topic is some what between easy and moderate level ,but very important as it forms the basics for your further topics . Most of the parts are easy but few parts which are tricky and from which you can expect good level of questions are –

Enerdy band digram.

Carrier transport.

Graded impurity distribution.

Carrier generation and recombination.

This topic deals with semiconductor physics(particularly silicon) basically to study about properties of the semiconductor.

Silicon crystal structure ,no of valence electron ,Energy band gap etc. Graph related question can be sometime tricky so one should have good understanding of theory to answer those.

In intrinsic semiconductor study about its eletrical property like conductivity and it’s variation with temperature then mobility variation with temperature , velocity saturation at high electric field and understand graph of µ vs T and σ vs T Vd (drift velocity)vs E.

Then calculation position of intrinsic fermi level , calculation of electrons n and hole concentration p ,calculation of intrinsic concentration,mass action law ,charge neutrality, graph of ni vs T and ln(σ ) vs 1/T Once your’e done with intrinsic semiconductor Physic slightly modifies for extrinsic semicoductor calculation ,extra parts that you should know is compensated doping , non degenartive and degenerative semiconductor,variation in nature of semiconductor with temperature.

in carrier transport you should learn about drift and diffusion current density and their expression for n type and p type ,diffusion constant and mobility, life time of carrier, diffusion length ,Einstein relation.

Graded impurity distribution is very important topic in this you shoul learn about non uniform doping ,relation between doping profile and Electric field ,plot of electric field for different doping profile ,current density at equilibrium,good level numerical and graphical question can be framed from it.

Hall effect mechanism , hall coefficient for n type p type and intrinsic semiconductor,hall voltage and it’s application are important, formula based question can be asked from this.

Enerdy band digram is one of the most important and hard topic in EDC if you don’t understand it future topics can be really difficult for you as it forms the base for understanding other devices ,you should learn variation of energy band with applied voltage ,calculation of electric field from slope of band digram and fermi level variation for equilibrium case (also for non -equilibrium but not in detail).

In Carrier generation and recombination process you should learn about phonon(thermal) geneneration and photo(light) generation, expression for excess charge carrier due to light excitation and net recombination rate at steady state.

Poisson and continuity equation is same as in EMT you should learn about Minority carrier continuity equation this equation helps you to sove various problem on steady state injenction in semiconductor due to different excitation.

After learning this topics you can easily analyze physics of any device .

2). Diodes (2 days)

In diode Band Digrams can be difficulty to understand and calculation of Diode parameter like depletion width ,junction potential.

As a pre requisite you should have a good understanding of electrostatic which you can cover from EMT.

In GATE most question are asked from Step graded pn junction so you should know how to plot charge density profile for step graded pn juction and to derive plot for Electric field from it and Potential plot from Electric field and your Energy band diagram is just an inversion of your potential plot.

Charge density →Electric field →Potential plot →Energy band diagram

you should should be very clear about how to draw plot for all these not only for step graded but for any profile and to derive the above parameter.

In last few years many questions are asked from Juction law in diode and flow of charge carrier through drift and diffusion which can confuse you

Diode capcitance in reverse and forward bais for abrupt and linear junction are also important and break down mechanism in diode and there relation with doping concentration and temperature.

Transient in diode can be a hard part some time syou can expect good question from diode switching.

You should also give some time to schottky diode ,One sided pn junction and understand metal semiconductor junction this helps you to study MOS capcacitor

3).Transistor ( 3 days )

BJT (half day)

This is very small and easy topic in EDC as most of the theory you cover in Anlaog circuits some extra things that you might find difficult can be Band digrams in equilibrium and diiferent baising region.

You should study Early effect and it effect on various parameter and punch through then you should cover breakdown in BJT in different junction and relation between breakdown Vceo and Vcbo.

You should also cover topic like minority carrier distribution in different operating region , BJT time delay factor and its cut off frequency, Ebers Moll model.

MOS CAPACITOR(2 days)

This is one of the most important topic in EDC it’s basically like studying OPAM in Analog ckt. This topics will require time to understand and many tricky questionss can be asked from this topic . Most of the students finds it very difficult to learn. First you should start with basic working of MOS capacitor in all three regime accumulation , depletion, and inversion and then you should study it’s band diagram in all the three region then you should start with C-V curve of MOS in this you should know the concept of surface potential , flat band voltage and threshold voltage. For studying flatband voltage Vfb you should understand the concept of workfunction for metal and semiconductor then you should study about trapped oxide charges and finally the complete expression for Vfb in term of bothFor threshold voltage Vt you should study the expression for depletion charge , surface potential at Vt. Depletion width in the semiconductor is calculated by doing one sided pn juction calculation. You should also study the calculation of inversion layer charge density. Then you should learn expression for capacitance in a different region (Cox , Cdep and Cinv) and in the inversion region, you should analyze both LFCV and HFCV curve. Finally you should study fixed oxide and interface traps charge and their effect on the C-V curve.

MOSFET (half day )

Again most of the MOSFET theory you cover in analog but prior to MOSFET, you study MOS capacitor which forms the base for MOSFET .

You should study various short channel effect in MOSFET which cause variation in its parameter and you should study variation in threshold voltage with variation in a parameter like length , oxide thickness , substrate doping etc.

You should study all the operating region of MOSFET and solve a problem related to finding operation region of different MOSFET in ckt and graph as well the expression of gm with respect to Vgs , Id .

4) PHOTOVOLTAIC DEVICES (1 DAY)

LED

very easy and can be covered in no time, you should study about direct bandgap semiconductor and reaction between Eg and λ relation between material bandgap and cut in voltage and parameter like extraction efficiency , internal radiative efficiency and external efficiency.

PHOTODIODE

In this you should learn about it’s working , operation region and parameter like photo current, dark current, Respositivity and expression for sensitivity and quantum effiency

SOLAR CELL

It’s is the most important photovoltaic device with respect to GATE and can be some times hard for some students to learn , you learn it’s working and it’s I-V graph basically there are 4 parameter you should know Voc, Isc, Conversion efficiency and fill factor.

5)Integrated circuit fabrication process(half day)

these topics are very easy but most students don’t find proper material to study these topic .

oxidation – study about wet and dry oxidation basically how much temprature is required and quality of oxide produce

diffusion and ion implantation- both are used for the same purpose but study what is their specific application and temperature require to perform both and concept of annealing

photolithography – In this you should cover topic likemasking, Photoresist , etching.

twin-tub CMOS process – you should study all the steps required and in order for fabriaction.

This topic might come for one marks you can refer any device book for these process.

BOOKS TO BE USED

1). SEMICONDUCTOR PHYSICS and DEVICES 4e – DONALD A NEAMEN

DHRUBES BISWAS

This book is one of the best book for EDC it’s little hard to understand but once you’ll study this completely I can assure you that you won’t be losing any marks in EDC it cover every topic except fabrication process,many of it’s excersice question are directly given in GATE exam one should definetly refer this book for good understanding of EDC . DIODE, TRANSISTOR, PHOTOVOLTAIC DEVICES can be directly referred from this book GATE related every aspect is covered.

2). SOLID STATE ELECTRONIC DEVICES – BEN G STREETMAN

This book is also a really good book some what easier to understand and cover most of the syllabus for EDC in the gate.

REFERENCE MATERIAL: for refrence, you can use nptel , PDF are availabel for devices courses with really good content

Can You Hear the Winds Changing? - Part 3

I love how this entire thing started as an assignment for class and now became a project with a plot and full character arcs.

You can find part 1 HERE and part 2 HERE Warnings: mentions of war, violence “Do you really think that having a festival this soon after the campaign is appropriate?” Usta asked Aion, pacing the length of his room. Aion watched his sister. A letter and rose lay forgotten before him on the table.

“It’s Candelae, Usta! The people wait for this the whole year, rest of the world be damned,” Aion countered. When Usta sighed, he took it as a sign to continue. “Besides, it’s one of the few festivals that father allows which celebrate gods who aren’t patrons of the royal family. The people need this now more than ever.”

Usta stopped her pacing to level Aion with a glare before a knock sounded from the door before Iiaare, Usta’s maid, walked in carrying two platters of food. With his own servant dismissed to celebrate with his family, the prince was quick to take one from her.

“Here, let me help.” Iiaare rolled her eyes and let out a heavy sigh but allowed the prince to take one of the platters.

“She isn’t helpless, you know. If anything, she can probably carry the food for all the visiting nobles and not break a sweat,” interjected Usta, making her way to the table. Iiaare gave a noncommittal shrug and held up eight fingers before pointing at the platters and mimicking the motion of carrying them.

Aion watched the interaction with a slack jaw and eyes that darted between the two. “When did you two become friends?” he asked, surprised, remembering how only last week Usta was constantly complaining about her new maid and her inability to communicate.

Usta hummed as though mulling over the question. “When she punched Sir Prent in the jaw three days ago after he told- how many was it?”-- Iiaare held up four fingers-- “after he told four maids that it would be an ‘honor to have his bastard children’ or something along those lines.”

Aion looked at Iiaare, baffled. He knew Sir Prent and some other knights had missed the past couple of days of training, but the story was that they were feeling ill after coming home from the battlefield.

The rest of the mealtime was spent discussing what else led to the unthinkable friendship between his sister and her maid. Apparently, as soon as Usta gave Iiaare her protection as both the princess and the kingdom’s seer, Iiaare decided that the best way to use it was for those who had no such protection.

While Aion was impressed with the new maid, he was even more shocked to hear the awful behavior of the kingdom’s knights. He had known they weren’t perfect, but the knights were supposed to stand for honor and integrity; yet here they were, using their power to abuse those without any. It made his teeth grind. He was so lost in his own head that he didn’t realize their meal had finished until Iiaare lifted his plate from in front of him.

“Oh!” Aion exclaimed, jolting to face his sister as she was making her way out of his chambers, “remember that there will be a remembrance feast tonight for the fallen knights. You should make an appearance.”

Usta stared at her brother from the open door before rolling her eyes and walking away. Iiaare bowed her head in the prince’s direction and closed the door with more force than Aion thought was necessary.

Aion scanned the banquet hall full of knights and nobles dressed in green, the color of mourning, his earlier conversation with Usta and Iiaare still echoing in his mind.

“Looking for someone?” came a familiar voice from his left. Aion turned to his sister, eyebrows raised at her presence.

“Oh, stop looking like a startled stoat,” Usta sassed as she took her seat, gesturing for Iiaare to fill her wine glass “The knights who fell in battle were my people too, they deserve the same respect as anyone who works with me in Firebird tower.” The prince nodded and murmured quick thanks in her direction before turning to face the king on his right, who was engaged in quiet conversation with the queen.

“I have my personal guard stationed at every door. If Stozia attacks, they will buy us some time,” the king said, eyes wandering around the room just as Aion’s had a moment previously.

“Are you sure they will attack tonight?” the queen questioned, spinning her wedding band, a gesture Aion had come to associate with his mother feeling anxious.

“No, but both Captain Necrosis and Lieutenant Iaastil have a feeling,” the king replied before taking his wine glass and standing up.

Aion tuned out whatever speech the king had prepared to honor the fallen knights; it was one he had heard many times. The prince gestured for Iiaare to fill his glass with more wine. When the servant did not react, he turned to her. He was not expecting to find her stiffly staring at the main entrance to the banquet hall. Nor was he expecting to see the slightest tremble of her hands around the pitcher.

Just as he turned to look at the doors, they burst open, with two people calling for knights in the room to prepare for a fight before barricading the entrance. Aion recognized them as twins, Elos and Alos, from his father’s private guard. Unsheathing the sword from his waist, Aion began yelling for everyone to start evacuating. He turned to his sister, kissing the top of her head.

“Take Iiaare and Mother, head for my rooms. If anything happens, take the tunnels to the lower town. At least one of us needs to survive this.”

Usta opened her mouth in protest but stopped.

“I love you. Make sure you come back to me alive.”

Hearing yelling approach the doors, he watched his sister grab Iiaare and ran in the direction of the evacuating nobles.

Aion joined his father and the twins in the front of the hall, the sound of splintering wood resounded through the room.

Aion and Usta took turns pacing the physician’s office, both wringing their hands and telling each other that everything will be okay.

“I just don’t understand why…” Usta trailed off, looking towards the cot where Iiaare was being treated. The prince had to bite his tongue so his response would not make it past his lips. He had his suspicions as to why Iiaare jumped between his sister and the assassin’s sword, but it was not something his sister would want to hear.

The court physician made his way to the siblings. His posture was relaxed as he rolled up unused bandages.

“She will live. The sword didn’t pierce any vital organs, so she should recover without any issues. Though she will need to rest until further notice.”

Both siblings let out a sigh of relief. Usta made her way to Iiaare’s side, clearly intending to stay with the servant until she woke up.

“What about the council meeting? They need your ability to See,” Aion began, but quickly realized how futile any argument would be. His sister would hear nothing of the meeting until she knew that her maid would wake up. So, he made his way to his father’s chambers alone, readying himself for an argument between his father and Captain Nexros.

He heard the yelling before he saw it; surprisingly, his father was not arguing this time.

“Just because Stozia already sent assassins doesn’t mean they won’t do it again!” Iaastil exclaimed, their words followed by a thud. Perhaps they hit the table with their fist.

“They won’t! That’s not how wars work,” came the reply from Captain Nexros.

“Oh yes, because the rules of war don’t ever change, and Stozia is well known to follow any code of conduct.”

“What do you suggest we do then? Make documentation for every person who lives in this country?”

“That won’t work when raiders attack. That will be the first thing they go for, leaving all our outlying villages vulnerable,” Aion interjected as he entered the room. The duo stopped whatever glaring match they started earlier to glance at him.

“What do you mean?” asked a young boy near Iaastil. His features and accent reminded Aion of the twins, both of whom he noticed were missing from the room.

“If everyone in Nemothage was carrying some kind of documentation that they live here, raiders would begin targeting it along with food and supplies,” Aion continued, taking a seat across from the queen, “And if the documentation is stolen, then we would not be able to help the village, hence leaving them vulnerable.”

At that, Iaastil smirked triumphantly at Nexros, who in turn pinched the bridge of his nose. Moments later, he threw up his hands.

“Fine, be that as it may, but we still need to figure out Stozia’s next move.”

The king pointed at the map in front of him, “There have been attacks on Flatband, Rizeria, Quoavacia, and other border villages between us and Stozia. That’s not even counting the battle at Yorkmer.”

“I wouldn't put it past King Azorius to keep sending mercenaries to border towns to try and split us up,” The lieutenant speculated, repeatedly tapping one of the outlying villages on the map. “My money is also on him trying to forge an alliance with Nicosby to the north.”

“Why Nicosby? King Azorius and Queen Malyn have a rocky relationship at best,” Aion’s mother pointed out. Aion prepared to answer but was cut off by Nexros.

“Because both have something to gain. Stozia has always wanted our mines, while our current stalemate with Nicosby over the Gretrior fields won’t help us form an alliance. But if Stozia wins, Nicosby might have a chance to gain that territory.”

“Necrosis is right,” the king stated, ignoring the look of pain on both Iaastil’s and Nexros’s faces before beginning to ramble off instructions on where the king’s guard should go out to scout. Before the king could make any more decisive decisions, Iaastil cut him off.

“Your Majesty, we still have to consider our mission of protecting Princess Usta while she is in Grimmimire. We’re leaving in a couple of days to make it there in time for her to follow up on her promise to the village elder.”

“I see,” the king said lowly. “On whose authority are these orders?”

“The prince’s,” answered Nexros, shifting slightly in Aion’s direction.

The king looked at Aion, eyes narrowing. Aion squared his shoulders and glared back at his father. His father may still be able to rule, but age occasionally interfered with the king’s priorities, especially when it came to Usta and her role as the kingdom’s Seer.

The stand-off lasted until the door burst open and a frazzled Usta strode in, scanning the room. Once she zeroed in on Nexros and Iaastil, she stomped over to plant herself in front of them.

“Captain Nexros, could you please ask your twins to leave my maid alone? If they offer her another torte, I think she is going to lose her eyes in the back of her head. Who even let have that many? They have about thirty between the two of them.”

This time it was Aion who cut the captain off, with a smirk that rivaled Alos’s when they were scheming.

“Are you sure it’s not you who’s going to lose their eyes in the back of their head?”

Usta ignored Aion in favor of glaring at the captain and lieutenant. The captain stood up from his spot at the table.

“Elos must have gone to the kitchens after the attack, she and Alos didn’t even show up for the briefing.”

Usta let out a sigh and pinched the bridge of her nose before turning to their father. Her eyes were tinted green, something Aion recognized as a sign of his sister getting a vision.

“Your plans to attack through Marmeny are going to fail. Stozia is trying to lure our forces in by purposely weakening their defenses.” Aion watched the king scowl and reach for a quill and some extra parchment. “the most effective way to win would be to split up into three groups.”

Usta approached the table, keeping eye contact with the king from where he was still leaning over the map. Aion watched the battle in his father’s eyes, contemplating whether to believe the kingdom’s seer or to order his daughter out of the war council. Moments later, the king stepped aside, giving Usta ample room to join the table. Aion released a silent sigh and settled in more comfortably. Even with Usta’s help, this was going to be a long strategy meeting.

¡Életem koncertje!

Képzeljétek el Réka lent járt nálam Szegeden pénteken, és este elmentünk egy Fran Palermo koncertre a Jatéba. Réka régebb óta ismeri és szereti őket, én meg úgy voltam persze menjünk, miért is ne, nem lehetnek annyira rosszak, annak idején ő mutatta az Ivan & the Parazolt és az is bejött, meg róluk is mesélt már valamikor régebben. Mi több, még nyert is jegyet péntekre, úgyhogy nem volt kérdés megyünk-e. Na tehát este nekiindultunk, az előzenekar a Flatband volt, nos, nem mondom hogy nem voltak jók, de őszinte leszek, nekünk nem jött át, plusz kissé zavaró volt hogy maximum 10-en ha álltunk a Jate nagytermében...Mondjuk csütörtökön kezdődött a tavaszi szünetünk szóval az egyetemisták nagy része otthon volt az ünnep miatt, úgyhogy elég rossz időpontba tették ebből a szempontból, de legalább Réka végre le tudott jönni hozzám. Meg aztán az emberek csak 10-re jöttek, a Fran Palermora. ;) ;) ;)

Már amikor a Fran Palermo tagjai elkezdtek felpakolni a színpadra, már akkor néztem hogy ejha, mintha kicsit sokan lennének, kiderült hogy vannak vagy 10-en. És akkor Réka elkezdte mesélni, hogy az énekes, Henri amúgy kubai, ( a tesói?) meg páran a bandából, és trombitákat, dobokat, egy csomó hangszert használnak, meg álljunk jó helyre hogy tudjunk táncolni. Én totál lesokkolódtam ott, hogy KUBAI, jézusooom (jöhet bármi a multikulturális - szakdolgozat pls), és ráadásul az angol mellett vannak spanyol számaik is, na neee, nekem végem volt. Réka miért nem ezzel kezdted? Sőt még fokozom, hiszen irtó helyesek is...YAY!

Én annyira jól éreztem magam a koncert alatt, de szerintem ők is, mert miután visszatapsoltuk őket még egy csomó számot eljátszottak és így végül vagy két órás koncertet adtak. Esküszöm ez lett a No.1 koncertélményem. De egy kicsit írok már a zenéjükről is. Nem akarok messze menő következtetéseket levonni, de jelen pillanatban nekem ők lettek a kedvenc zenekarom Magyarországon. Annyira sokszínű és változatos amit játszanak, imádom a trombitát, a szaxofont, a dobot, a csörgőket, a gitárt, szerintem nagyon jól szólnak együtt. Nem értek nagyon hozzá, sőt azt sem tudom, hogy a szaknyelv pontosan minek hívja azt, amit ők játszanak, de az tudom hogy különleges és tetszik. Szóval erősen javaslom hallgassatok bele, tettem egy zenelejátszót a blog tetejére, ami lehet hogy csak ideiglenesen lesz. Sajna néha nem értem a szöveget, lehet azért mert halandzsa, ami amúgy király. Van pár szám, ami kicsit szomorkásabb, van melankolikus beütése, de az a csomó hangszer feldobja. Emellett egytől egyig szinte mindegyiknek van egy ilyen tengerpartos, homokban mezítláb táncolós-ugrálós beütése. Annyira igényes zenét játszanak, amire tényleg lehet bulizni, tudják a közönsége(ke)t kezelni, hangulatot teremtenek. Szerintem pont ilyen zenekarokra van ma szükség Magyarországon.

Péntek óta kb rájuk fekszem-kelek, úgyhogy szegény Ivettet előre sajnálom, ugyanis jövő héttől kezdve kénytelen lesz ő is ezt hallgatni éjjel nappal. :) (Végülis úgy is Kubába készül nászútra..)
