Caption these pics! I’m thinking the first one says “Follow me into to unknown!” and the second is “Excuse me ma’am I’m lost” Tried putting an outfit together with these weird pants I found from @flashbacksrecycledfashions they radiate big Y2K conspiracy energy with reflective “CD video” logo velcro cuffs and macromedia Studio MX Logos on the buckles. They’re labeled as XL but fit my small waist and have the phrase “no culture can live if attempts to be exclusive” on the inside tag. Where are these from originally!? - #macromediastudiomx #cdvideostereoextendedplay #hackerfashion #y2kfashion #90sfashion #technogrunge #technofashion #industrialfashion #militaryfashion #mensfashion #redwing #arcticfoxhaircolor #flashbacksrecycledfashion #recycledfashion #boots #cargopants #shortsleeveturtleneck https://www.instagram.com/p/BuH4_ZOlY-m/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1grtx2e4r0qx9

Flashback to Flashbacks: How to guide for thrifting

Some people look at a thrift store and see nothing but racks of second-hand garbage. It's just piles of clothes that someone shrugged at and said "might as well take it to Goodwill," right? That couldn't be further from the truth.
I look at thrift shopping as a kind of treasure hunt. You sort through pieces that each have a story behind them with the possibility that the next chapter will be joining your wardrobe.
A thrift store is an opportunity. You can find the most interesting clothes at the most inexpensive prices, and explore a time capsule of fashion all at once.
This week I took a trip up to Flashbacks Recycled Fashions in Gainesville, FL to help demonstrate some thrift tips. Right off of University Ave is one of my personal favorite thrift shops.
Flashbacks is grungy and eccentric, its walls decorated with layers of art and clothing. The clothing items on the walls are usually their designer or more expensive pieces.

Going to a smaller thrift shop like Flashbacks is always a good option for anyone looking to add unique items to their wardrobe. They are especially helpful to people that are new to thrifting. Big chain stores like Goodwill can be overwhelming.
One of the most valuable lessons to be learned in thrifting is to ignore gender and size. The sizing of clothes is very unreliable, varying depending on brand, design, and year it was made. I wear a size large, so I usually will look from the medium to 2XL sections.

I found this beautiful white dress in an extra large for a slightly oversized fit for only $10. It reminds me of something a medieval fairy might wear, and I'm excited to wear it as the weather starts warming up.

Don't pass up looking through the opposite genders' selection either! Some of my favorite items have been picked up from the men's section. Including this adorable button up with an illustrated print I got for $4.50.
Going to a thrift store is an amazing way to expand your wardrobe with cool pieces when you're on a budget. Let's get thrifting!
