Dalsnibba Peak
flickr
Dalsnibba Peak by Seung Kye Lee Via Flickr: View from Dalsnibba Peak, 1495 m. (4904 ft.) towards Geirangerfjorden (UNESCO World Heritage List), a small part of it just barely visible in the lower horizon. August, 2008. The fjord is one of Norway’s most visited tourist sites. The Geiranger Fjord is under constant threat from the mountain Åkerneset, which is about to erode into the fjord. A collapse would produce a tsunami, hitting several nearby towns including Geiranger and Hellesylt in about ten minutes. The view from Dalsnibba Peak is magnificent, especially if you are lucky with the weather. The road in the lower left corner leads to the fjord and on a larger version, you can also see zig-zag road on the third (right) mountainside leading out of the fjord. The mountain peaks surrounding Geirangerfjorden was snow-capped all summer. Unfortuneately, maybe some time soon there will be no more snow in summertime on these peaks.
